We have been taking our little Baxter to Hampden Family Pet Hospital for about a year now after friends of ours recommended them. The staff here are really nice and professional. We typically don't have to wait very long for any appointments. They are also very thorough with the appointments and treatment plans. Great with follow ups and the Vet herself will text with updates after bloodwork and etc. I love that they love my pup as much as I do and you can tell they care. Thank you Hampden Family Pet Hospital!!

Dr.Nelson was wonderful! Unfortunately my 2 year old Cat Otis had to spend 24 hours in the hospital for monitoring and IV fluids for a fever. Dr. Nelson called daily with updates and gave different options for diagnostic testing. She was kind, considerate and sympathetic as it was so hard to see my cat go through this. Highly recommend! Otis is home now and doing so much better! Thank you Dr. Nelson!

My pets have always gotten the BEST care at Hampden Family Pet Hospital. Let's just say I'm one of those CRAZY pet owners who make most people roll their eyes. Hampden Family Pet indulges my craziness and has always treated my pets as if they were their own. Dr. Monica is my usual vet and she really is the nicest person on the planet and I can't tell you how many times she has gone WAY above and beyond to help my dogs. If I could clone her, I would. She's too modest to take credit for how AMAZING she is, but SHE IS. THANK YOU, Dr. Monica! I also have to call out Dr. Etheridge, who saved my dog's life last year. (Ya, no small thing, eh?) Ruby had Tick Paralysis (I hadn't ever heard of it), and without Dr. Etheridge, I don't think Ruby would be around. This past weekend, I saw Dr. Riley and she was so caring and gave Ruby the absolute best care - Ruby was really sick and Dr. Riley remained calm, figured out what was wrong with Ruby and got her back on the right track. It really is true that this practice will treat both you and your pet like family.

HFPH came as a recommendation from a neighbor for my dog’s TPLO procedure back in May. If one pet parent took as much time and care in selecting Dr. Glawe for their dog, I knew I needed to check HFPH out. From the moment of the consultation, Dr. Glawe and his team were kind, sweet, warm, and welcoming. Surgery is scary but Dr. Glawe took great care of my boy. Their price was reasonable and it included everything, which was appreciated. You can tell he really cared about Walt. We followed Dr. Glawe’s post-op instructions closely, which I knew he appreciated. Thanks to him, Walter is back to playing with his sister and going on full walks. If you need a TPLO for your pup, please check out Dr. Glawe!

Not the same since Dr Abbey retired. We’ve been going here for over 13 years and sadly the culture of the office has changed drastically. Vet turn over is really high, there’s not a single vet on staff who’s been with the company for more than year. All the vets we’ve seen were good, but when my dog got sick last year, it felt horribly impersonal. We were pushed from vet to vet, practically starting over at each visit since there was no history. I had to advocate hard just to see the same vet and with my pup’s health concerns, it was a horrible experience. Ultimately he was diagnosed with a terminal disease and we chose to move to a home hospice care for more personal and compassionate support. Those working there are good people, their surgeons are very competent, and I would recommend them in an emergency situation or for specialized treatments. But not as a primary care provider. The issue is at a higher admin level, if you can’t keep staff, something is broken. It’s also important to add they are now part of the Petco umbrella with the move to Thrive Pet Healthcare. I’m not sure how this will effect them going forward. Basically, if you’re looking for a small office feel where you will see the same vets regularly, this is no longer that kind of practice, but if your primary care vet recommends this office for specialty services, they will take care your pet. After over a decade with HFPH, I’ve now moved to another practice wanting the personalized care they no longer provide.

The attention and care that we received at Hampden was top notch. The doctor spent a quality amount of time with my pup and explained things in a way that felt collaborative and concise rather than trying to convince us to have an unnecessary surgery. We came up with a plan as opposed to a bandaid solution.

Our 85 lbs black labx is 8 years old and tore her acl last spring. We searched around for someone who could do the repair and after calling several places we went with Dr. Nelson. She did a tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) in late June and by the end of the summer our girl was back to her old self. Really pleased with everything here. Would highly recommend.

I have been going to Hampden Family Pet Hospital since I first got my dog back in 2010 and my experience has always been wonderful. They always send me sweet notifications when vaccines and checkups are due along with ‘birthday cards’ for my pets. I just recently, about two weeks ago, adopted a new kitten and we just took her in to see Dr. Burns. She was thorough, conscious of my concerns and laid out a couple of different options that we could proceed with in the future. Always so grateful and will be requesting Dr. Burns in the future! We go for our yearly's, and unfortunately have been their for major issues. Every time we go we have such an amazing experience. Our normal vet is Dr. Suhr, but everyone we have seen is amazing. I'm so glad we found Dr. Lauria and Hampden Family Pet Hospital. From our initial visit with Dr. Lauria, she was incredibly friendly and determined to figure out why our German Shepherd was having so many gastrointestinal issues. Dr. Monica Watterud and Dr. Riley have been the absolute best. Dr. Watterud I previously worked with and i admired how she connects with each pet. She points out things not all doctors look for. She does full exams and is very thorough in what she’s doing. She is very welcoming and knowledgeable. I recently had to take my Luna to get 2 mass removals done, her surgical doctor was Dr. Riley. Never have I ever had a surgical doctor call me before surgery, after and the next day. The communication couldn’t of been better. She explains everything in detail. You can tell she truly cares for your pet.

What an incredible place. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Dr. Etheridge is amazing. She was so kind to and patient with our 11mo puppy, who has a hard time relaxing at the vet. She sat on the floor with us and spoke in the most inviting tone. By the end of the appointment our pup was on his back asking her for belly rubs. We felt reassured our pup was in capable and confident hands.

Dr Chris Glawe is the Man! The kindness and competency of him and his staff is incredible. My 3 year old lab had a double elbow scope and she is doing great. He is a fantastic surgeon but what really sets him apart is the follow up and care we received post surgery. We have a game plan for a long, functional, happy life!! Only Con: they gave her the canine equivalent of a mullet bowl cut. Business in the front, Party in the back.

I can't say enough good things about HFPH and neither can my two Labs who are ALWAYS excited to go to the vet! They love coming here and always get the best care. The staff is super friendly and make an effort to get to know you. Dr Monica is the best! When my black lab had to come in for an appointment on his birthday, she had special treats waiting for him and there was a birthday greeting on the welcome sign. Both Dr. Glawe's have been great to work with, too. When my last lab had to be put down, they were so comforting and caring. Even reaching out to me the next day to see how I was doing. I love this vet! I've been taking my pups here for over 5 years. They have never recommended an unnecessary procedure, and even told me to wait on getting his teeth fixed until February when they have a promotion and can save me some money. My dog was attacked Thanksgiving weekend. We first went to VRCC for emergency care, then $2,000 later, we were able to go to our regular vet and get him healed up. They ended up having to remove some scabbing that VRCC wanted to charge us $3,000 for. HFPH only charged me $600. All of the receptionists and vet techs knew our dog by name and would check in on his healing process regularly. I love this place because they treat our pets like family. I would recommend it to anyone.

We were referred to see Dr. Chris Glawe from our local vet after our 4 year old Lab (Dawson) tore his ACL. Dr. Glawe recommended TPLO surgery for Dawson. TPLO surgery and recovery is an ordeal and Dr. Glawe and the rest of the staff were very helpful and professional along the entire journey. Dawson made an outstanding recovery. Unfortunately he tore his other ACL which Dr. Glawe informed us was about a 50/50 chance so back in the operating room to fix the other ACL. After going through the entire process for a second time and seeing the amazing results and the care Dawson was given, we have no doubts that we made the right decision choosing Dr. Glawe to take care of our special boy. I do want to add that Dawson was genetically pre-disposed to tearing his ACL as we are aware that 2 of his other litter mates had torn 1 or both of their ACL's at a young age. Hampden Family Pet Hospital was referred to me by a friend who has taken her animals there for over twenty years. Once my dog, Bruin, and I visited for the first time, I understood why she was so loyal to all of the staff there. Everyone is very friendly and extremely professional. They all seem to genuinely care who is walking in the door and why. Dr. Orobona and Dr. Monica were both very good with Bruin, who I recently had to put down because he had bone cancer. An experience like that can really affect your life, but everyone did their best to help us along in the process. Dr. O, Tracie Grubb and Kyle, in particular, were very good to me and Bruin during that ordeal. I appreciate everyone there and will certainly be back with my next pup...when I take that step.

I found Hampden Animal Hospital through a friend as was so glad that I did. My baby girl was a diabetic and had Cushings. At the last vet that I went to if I had a problem with her after hours, I was out of luck. When we first met our special vet, Kris Abbey, she gave me her phone number to keep in contact should I need her. I was so grateful!!! OMG, I could actually talk with her after hours?! Kris and I stayed in contact every day (and throughout the day) when Bandit had problems. I didn't have to be scared by myself worrying what to do about her. I was very blessed to go there, everyone was wonderful and so caring.

My first experience was wonderful at Hampden Family Pet Hospital. The Girls at the desk were a lot of fun and welcoming. The Tech was was great even though my Puggle Raji was not up to cooperating that day. My family has been taking all of our pets here since I was a little kid, so naturally I chose to take my boxer Forrest here. We just had to put him down this past Saturday, which was extremely difficult for my husband, daughter and I. The staff, especially Dr. Begin, were so supportive and great in helping us through that process and letting us take our time with him. Over his 8 years they took such good care of all of his different types of needs and helped us figure out so many things! Great withs cheduling, rx's, questions and advice etc. As our hearts heal we hope to bring a new family member here again because we know that they will be well taken care of and loved as if they were their own.

Wow, these guys are amazing. Our dog Lilly is a Covid rescue and was always extremely scared at our last vet's office. She is a different dog here. The staff really go above and beyond. We were referred by 2 friends whose dogs had TPLO surgery with Dr. Glawe. He is extremely patient and spent more time with us than any human doctor has. Lilly is recovering well and it all thanks to the Dr. Glawe and the staff here. We live far from this office, but it is worth the drive. So happy to have found this place.

We have been going to HFPH for over 10 years. The Dr's and Staff are the kind of folks that shake your hand and then get down on their hands and knees to interact with your pet. We have seen Dr Glawe for our orthopedic needs, Dr Monica and Dr Abbey for our medical and Holistic needs, Dr Etheridge for our Dental needs and the Tech staff for shots and nail trims. They have held our hands and cried with us as we made the difficult end of life decision. I trust them with my pups lives.

I've used HFPH for our senior dog rescues for five years and have great confidence in their expertise, prompt response to concerns, and professional, yet personable, interactions. The front office staff is exceptional - very knowledgeable, efficient, compassionate, and managing the adjustments for covid-safety very well. I offer high praise for the veterinarians and vet tech staff. Complicated medical issues with our senior dogs have been identified quickly, assessed, and treated appropriately. I'm always surprised the costs for visits and treatments are less than I'd anticipated. Overall, the quality of care at HFPH is excellent and clearly their mission embraces that our pets are cherished family members. A while back I made an appointment here for my pup, Olive, because she needed a new vet! After I had already made the vaccine appointment I realized this vet was actually really far from where I live.. I figured I’d keep the appointment and find a closer more permanent vet. However, their customer service and veterinarians are phenomenal!! They made such a food first impression- I brought both my dogs there today for another appointment! It’s SO worth the drive! My dogs can sometimes be a handful but the staff are so patient, kind, and understanding of their unique personalities. AWESOME PLACE!! They truly love animals here.

I love Hampden Family Pet Hospital. I’ve been taking my dog there since he was a puppy. Every time we are greeted warmly. The veterinarians always spend a good amount of time discussing any concerns and looking over my pet. They are very knowledgeable and provide wonderful care. Today, my dog spent most of his appointment licking Dr. Suhr’s face while she examined him. She puts us both at ease and he tolerated all the exams, vaccines, etc. exceptionally well because of the kind care from the vets and techs!

The vets and support team (including the receptionist that offered us hugs) have the bedside mannor of hospice nurses and truly care in a way I didn't really expect from people who see this stuff daily. My girlfriend was an absolute wreck and they made sure she could spend AS MUCH time as she needed with the doggo. Though today was hard for all of us at least we found a place that made the experience as special as possible. Our experience at Hampden Family Pet for the last 4+ years has been excellent. The staff is helpful and friendly, they work hard to make convenient appointments and have emergency appointments available daily, and they are open late and on Saturdays. The facility is very nice and clean and they offer a wide variety of services. Dr. Etheridge is an outstanding veterinarian. We have worked with her consistently and she is thoughtful in her treatment plans and really listens to what is going on with our pet. I have found their prices to be reasonable and my experience has been 100% positive.

I feel extremely fortunate to have found Hampden Family Pet Hospital 20+ years ago. They have been there for my many dogs and cats from wellness to end of life, as well as, through personal losses and illness. I saw previous comments about price and was concerned at first, but the prices are seemingly normal and the care that your pet receives is worth it. Hampden Family Pet Hospital is the best. I’ve been bringing my dog here for about 6 years and we’ve never had a bad experience. My pup had to have a major surgery last year and all of the vets and techs were so incredible before, during, and after the procedure. The front desk staff helped immensely by communicating with my insurance so that I didn’t have to worry about any of the financial aspects of the procedure. Everyone at Hampden Family is so great and I wouldn’t take my pup anywhere else.

All the staff here are absolutely amazing. My dog Dingo has unfortunately had to undergo TPLO surgeries on both hind legs almost a year ago, and a recent minor injury to his front leg. I couldn't ask for better care in every single one of my visits. The staff have always been extremely kind, empathetic, and bend over backwards to accommodate you. Dr. Glawe is a world class Ortho surgeon, the TPLO's he performed were perfect and have restored full mobility in a 10yr old Collie/Shepherd mix without a single complication throughout the healing process. I recently had a wonderful experience with Dr. Lauria as well. I have moved to Superior/Boulder for work but have no problem making the 1hr drive to continue care here. Best vet I've experienced in my many years of having pets.

This was my first visit at Hampden Family Pet Hospital. When I walked up the first thing I saw was a board with all the names of new pets and I see my pups name and I was honestly delighted. It was welcoming. The vet tech and veterinarian were absolutely incredible. They clearly care about you and your pet. The prices are reasonable for most things so needless to say, Hampden Family Pet Hospital is our new vet!

This is a big veterinary clinic with multiple doctors and, what I consider, a reasonably efficient way of doing things. That being said, when dealing with the vet staff, you don't feel brushed aside at all. Despite their size and number of clients, Dr. Suhr is hands down one of the best vets I've seen. She takes the time to present all of your options and does a wonderful job of listening to our concerns. To summarize our experience, our dog had a growth on his toe and another vet said the toe needed to be amputated immediately. We felt a bit uneasy about his approach and went to HFPH for a second opinion. Dr. Suhr was much more detailed in her assessment and ultimately it was nothing dangerous and our guy still has his toe. We have been going to Dr. Suhr since. They may not be the cheapest, but if you can afford it, your pets will thank you.

My 10 year old toy poodle started limping a few months ago because of arthritis. She was miserable and no amount of pain meds, exercises, CBD oil or glucosamine were helping her. I decided to try acupuncture for her since nothing else had worked. I found Dr. Christina Suhr and after 3 sessions I am absolutely shook. First of all, Dr. Suhr got down on the floor with my dog and gave her all of the belly rubs and kisses to make her feel comfortable (I’ve never had a vet do that)! Usually my dog shakes the entire time we are at any vet clinic. But after a few minutes with Dr. Suhr she stopped shaking. My dog looooooves Dr. Suhr’s energy. I noticed a huge difference in her pain after just one session. My dog isn’t limping anymore and on top of that she is running and playing with her sister. Everyone who saw her before and after has commented on how great she looks and how much happier she seems. I am incredibly grateful we found Dr. Suhr. We’ve only had 3 sessions and I’ve been able to stop most of her pain medication. I cannot recommend Dr. Suhr enough!

I have been going to Hampden Family Pet Hospital for about two years. We had a bad experience at our old vet and took our Boston Terrier to see Dr. Glawe instead. He was so personable, knowledgeable and understanding. They went out of their way to fully understand what the problem was (the other vet would not help or treat her) and solve it! I was a wreck before and they really took the stress and anxiety away. The surgery went great and seamlessly. Dr. Glawe called me from his cell afterwards even to give an update. It has been a great experience each time working with other vets as well and we now have two dogs that come. The staff is friendly, welcoming and very responsive. It can be a little pricy but worth it.

Aside from the initial surprise of the quality of care, I was very surprised with the bill. The cost for two animals was HALF the cost of my old vet for just the dog.... The techs, and front desk staff are all as sweet as can be, and very very helpful. Im so glad we’ve found this little gem, and I would recommend anyone with furry family to give it a shot. The best vets in town. It's really the little things that make the difference here on top of having an incredible staff. I saw two other vets in six visits before coming here to have my dog finally diagnosed with Allergy induced bronchitis. I have been going here ever since they found a diagnosis others couldn't. But again, it's the little things. Most of the vets will sit on the floor with your pet if they are to scared to sit up on the exam tables. The surgeon personally called me after a surgery to go over the procedure and give me care instructions. The staff sent a picture and updates of my dog after surgery. They have great staff here, knowledgeable vets, and both go the extra mile that should come standard but doesn't these days.

Not admitting you don't know and not offering for you to get a second opinion is dangerous. But Dr. Lauria has been fantastic on trying to get my grandparents dog better. Every vet here and the staff has been professional and caring.

Full disclosure, the reception staff and a few of the veterinary technicians seem to have a chip on their shoulder and lack the demeanor I would prefer for customer service, HOWEVER __and this is a big HOWEVER Don't let the biting receptionists or rude VT's deter you! Once you get to the doctors, it's well worth it!

I brought my 10-yr old adopt-a- schnauzer (and current Queen of the household) Phoebe in for a check up. The wait time was minimal, staff was friendly, and Doctor Etheridge was very caring and loving with my little girl. Doc Etheridge discovered that Phoebe had really bad teeth and strongly recommended dental surgery to repair it. Anyone who has had this done knows it can be pricey, but this particular hospital was fair. The staff let me know exactly what would take place, what the risks were, and how much the surgery would range. They kept my little girl comfy and happy, got all her bad teeth out, and gave me proper instructions for post-op care. They even gave me a follow-up call in the morning to check in! It was really a super-sweet gesture. It's been just about two weeks, and my little Phoebe is better than ever! If you love your pets, you should take them here. This has been the best vet I have ever been to. Phoebe agrees! Thank you for taking such loving care of my little girl!

I take all of our "livestock" (two cats and a dog) here. They are always professional, on time and attentive. I like their way of taking the dog back for simple shots without me there, as I think this keeps the pet calmer. When my prior cat was attacked by a dog, they performed surgery but afterward, since he was 18, he did not rally. There was no pressure to try more heroic surgery. Both my dogs have been going to Hampden Family for a Few years now. The staff are very nice and professional. The lobby and exam rooms have always been clean when we visit, and the staff help make my very nervous dog comfortable during exams. My Akita actually loves going to Hampden Family, he thinks the staff are all his friends and he occasionally goes in the back to visit staff that don't get to treat him. This vet was recommended to us by a friend and while I agree with a lot of the reviews that say it's expensive - we've had nothing but great experiences with them. We LOVE our vet R.O. - she really treats both our dogs like her own. She always listens to all our concerns even though they probably sound ridiculous and makes sure that I understand everything she goes through. Even when I know they're busy, I never feel rushed and she never gives the impression that you're taking up too much of her time. We appreciate that she takes the time to write up summaries for each of our dogs and sends us an email recap after our visits too. Our lab Eliot had to have an emergency gastronomy and we were worried sick but everyone at the office was so patient with all our questions and were available 24/7 if we wanted to check on how he was recovering after the surgery. Our vet didn't do the surgery and the vet that did ended up using "the best" everything I guess because our costs were higher than expected, so that was a bit frustrating but at the same time we were okay with it because of the nature of the surgery - I'd rather pay more to know everything was done right and not rushed. We were allowed to go into the back and visit him during recovery and the staff was so kind and understanding and let us stay as long as we wanted. The only thing I would say is that they do try to get you to do everything available for your pets anytime you go in (unfortunately it has been more often for us due to having a lab...) - whether it's yearly checkups/annuals or shots or teeth cleaning, etc. Which to be fair, they want your pet to be in the best possible health, but if you're tight on a budget then you really need to go in knowing what NEEDs done ahead of time, otherwise you'll end up paying for more than you were planning on. Or just take someone who's good at saying "no" ;-)

I am blind and have the most wonderful guide dog from Guide Dogs for the Blind in California. I would not entrust him to anyone that did not show genuine love for animals. We have seen several of the Doctors and have not found one that is not a truly dedicated person. But, it does not stop there. The reception staff is where the experience begins and ends, and they do a terrific job of making you feel welcome and send you on your way with a cheerful greeting. Pricei is adequate for the quality of facilities and care. It is also great to know that they are equipped to handle most issues, but when my dog had a seizure, they did not hesitate to refer us to experts and communicated with them to stay in the loop. We always get a followup call from the Dr. after each treatment visit. I highly recommend them!

Update: After being contacted by Maria from the Office, who managed to adjust the schedule a bit, we were able to get everything taking care of. The lady at the front desk could have presented /resolved things differently but that is water under the bridge. "We have been clients with hampden family pet for 5 years now. We needed to get shots for our two dogs since they will be boarding in two weeks. Receptionist tells me they are booked until the end of september. Its two shots that would take 15min at the most. I told her its an emergency and if she could refer me to someone that could do it and she said she could not help me. I can see business is booming but i can also see i cannot rely on them. After thousands and thousands of dollars spen i guess its time to find a new vet. I only hope that when the business its not going so great for them, they would remember this. Very dissapointed".

I called Hampden Family Pet hospital after picking up a foster dog who had been neglected and had been neutered by a vet that did it improperly and allowed him to get an infection. They got me in right away and got my poor puppy feeling better. Everyone was friendly and Dr. Abbey was fantastic helping figure out what was wrong with the dog, and what I needed without costing me a lot of money since I was only fostering him (I have since adopted him). This place is awesome! They are tucked away so we never really noticed them before. However when I lost my cat and stopped in to ask them if I could post a sign they were so nice we tried them out. They are kind and caring and when we had to put Mia to sleep they treated her (and us) with the utmost care. I've always had positive experiences here. I really like that they have extended pick up after hours and pets can be left overnight, if they need to be monitored, as opposed to being shipped off to an emergency vet for overnight stays like many vet offices do. When I had severe issues with my cat who had urinary blockages, I was able to reach his vet after hours in an emergency if I had questions. Great service. I can't say enough good things about Hampden Family Pet Hospital and Dr. Milizio in particular. I have one dog with epilepsy and another with Addison's disease so I visit the vet far more than the average pet owner. The staff is always very friendly and I feel like Dr. Milizio really cares about my dogs and their well being. He is always pleasant and very informative. I feel like I actually understand what is going on with my pet. If he says they will call the next day, they do...I have never had an issue with him following up. As other reviews have stated, they are a little expensive....but I will gladly pay a little more and drive to their office which is 15 miles from my home. The saying you get what you pay for really rings true here and if you have ever gone to a less expensive vet you know what I am referring to. I always get in right at my appointment time and I never feel like they are just looking to make money. Anyone in the area looking for a great vet, this is the place to go. We have been going to Hampden Family Pet Hospital for over 20 years. They have always been there to help with all of our dogs and cats. They took great care of our cats, and I can tell you that one of them lived for 21 years thanks to them. We recently lost a dog that our niece had given to us, and he had some problems. My husband and I had fallen in love with this chunky guy quickly, and it was hard for us when he passed away, but they couldn't have been more supportive for us. They treat everyone who walks through there doors as Family just like it states in their name.

The vets here are wonderful. Better follow-up with care than any MD. They call after puppy shots to see if your puppy is doing well. Good appointment access and evening up to at least 7pm. Price is similar to other vet care in the city. I would not take my pets anywhere else.

My puppy went in for surgery. Before surgery the hospital informed me of the procedure and payments beforehand. During surgery they kept me included on what was going on and what was being done. They were on top of notifying me of any upcoming changes and procedures. After the surgery when it came time to pick up my puppy, they went over the home care instructions and were more than willing to answer any questions i had. Dr. Poundstone was amazing and was willing to followup and answer any questions i had. All in all i felt very comfortable with the service they provided, and my puppy is healing perfectly! This is a great hospital and i would recommend it to anyone looking for a good place to take your furry friends!

I have been taking my two cats to Hampden Family for several years now. I think they are simply the best around. As my cats got older and began having health problems, the vets here have been very thorough in treating them. My 16 year old kitty recently needed to have dental work and I was so afraid to put her under anesthesia. The vets walked me through the risks, explained the procedures and precautions they take, and even coordinated with a specialized anesthesiologist to come in for the procedure. I don't know of any other vet in the area where I would have felt safe having this done. Over the years, I have seen Dr. Butrill, Dr. Orobona, Dr. Poundstone and Dr. Etheridge. All of them are great. They have been very understanding of my concerns for my pets' health and help me make decisions I feel comfortable with. The staff is wonderful too. Over the past year, I feel I have been to Hampden every couple weeks for one health issue or another, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I think Hampden Family is the top of the game. The only downside to that is that it is not inexpensive. You might pay a bit more to bring your pets here, but if you can swing that, I think it's so worth it.

My German Shepherd had multiple problems within the last year that challenged many of the veterinarians and specialists of the clinics I took her too (also went to VCA East and VRCC). Hamden Family Pet gave my Shepherd the best integrated care by working me in the same day when needed and coordinating the various specialists (something that sometimes was lacking at VCA and VRCC). The cost for services and medications was also substantially less than VCA or VRCC. The staff were also kind when she had accidents inside the clinic and they had to clean it up and were supportive when her health continued to decline. This clinic is highly recommended when you want the individual customer service of a smaller veterinary practice but also need access to specialists for more complex problems.

I really like Hampden Family Pet. My dog has severe allergies and chronic ear infections we just couldn't get under control. Poor baby was MISERABLE. Dr. Orobona wouldn't give up! She tried everything until we found a concoction that worked. Now, he is happy, playful and doesn't cringe when the ear cleaner comes out. I considered giving a four star review just because it is chaotic in the waiting room during peak hours - which I suppose is a good thing that so many people go there - but, my dog does not do well in that environment. (I did notice if you book the latest appointment they have it is calm and a much better atmosphere). Because my dog is so happy and healthy, I will give them a 5 star review. I'll just make sure to book later appointments! It's worth it!

A friend recommend the Hampden Family Pet Hospital, especially Dr. Kris Abbey. Little did I know that in a year or two my pet Bichon would have kidney failure and would have to be put to sleep. Dr. Abbey handled the experience with the utmost professionalism and kindness. No one wants to have to go through this with a beloved pet, but I must say it was a sweet goodbye and perfectly handled. I received a sympathy card with her footprints enclosed, sent from the hospital. I will miss Dr. Abbey in her retirement, but know other vets will pick up with the care of my male Bichon who is also aging. 9/11/19 i have taken my Bichon to Dr. Julie Nelson, and she is also a 5 star veterinarian....Pepe passed over the Rainbow Bridge last month, and now I have a little Maltese mix, 4 years old. He has been to seen Dr. Nelson, and she is wonderful. She is quite informed and intelligent and is helping me now with my new little buddy. I give her also 5 stars! The vet techs, outer office and all are great.

The only reason I took off one star is because the prices are a little high, but that seems to be most hospitals now so not a big deal. This is the best veterinary clinic I have encountered in my 16 years of dog ownership. I feel so lucky to have found them. Most of my experience has been with Dr. Abbey, who has all the qualities one could ever wish for in a vet: skill, thoughtfulness (no rushed diagnoses - Dr. Abbey seems to consider an issue from every angle, and proceed with educated caution), kindness and patience. One of the things I appreciate most about this clinic, however, is that I feel very comfortable with all of the vets my dogs see - Dr Buttrill is wonderful, as are Drs. Etheridge and Milizio. Dr.Glawe came in on his day off to personally check on one of my girls after surgery, although she was recovering normally and under the watchful eyes of the rest of the staff. I don't have to worry about which day my dog suddenly has an issue, because I know she will always be in good hands. The vet techs have all been so kind to my dogs, and are obviously well-trained and professional. Last but not least, the receptionists are polite, compassionate and competent people. I can't imagine a better veterinary experience, and I'm REALLY bummed to be leaving them behind when we move to the east coast in the spring.

My kitten was limping. My vet did not have time to see her. At Hampden pet hospital they got her in right away and we were able to figure out it was an abscess. They worked with me to assess the situation properly and we were able to get it healing up. It’s frustrating to not have your own vet have anytime for your pet. We first took our 13 year old dog to Dr. Phyllis Glawe back in 2017 when we learned our dear little pup had sarcoma. Dr. Glawe was - and is - so understanding, gentle, but also frank about the situation. After surgery to remove the large tumor, Dr. Glawe got our dog on a regimen that attacks the cancer, along with recommended dietary changes and supplements. She works with us to balance out the discomfort of the treatment to minimize the side effects and make sure that our dog's well being is taken into consideration and not just an all-out attack on the cancer. The entire staff has been supportive and easy to work with, a must since we had frequent visits in the beginning. Our dog is doing well, twenty months after diagnosis, and we are looking forward to her fifteenth birthday in four months. Thank you Hampden Pet Hospital!!

I called when my doberman Dash, had an eye infection and they got me in within the hour. I arrived and the place was clean and organized I only had to wait about 5 min. The vet took us back and did multiple tests to be sure of the specific kind of infection which made me feel better, as most vets I have been to in the past just take a guess a hope for the best. after figuring out exactly what was wrong we got our prescription and the whole process only took about 45 min which was great! After I received a call from the vet checking up on Dash, and also a card in the mail. I will be returning next time I need anything pet related!

Hampden Family Pet Hospital lives up to its name: Family. We have had several pets become a part of the family of doctors, techs, and support staff at Hampden. They have supported us (and cried with us) through difficult end-of-life decisions; they have celebrated a new puppy with us. Very caring, clean facility, certainly competent. If our dog didn't have a mysterious illness we would have continued going here. They are upfront about limits to what they can do (i.e. no cancer specialists and can't do the more detailed/expensive testing and treatment our dog ended up needing).

I have been to this clinic about four times, for shots and bouts of kennel cough, and its always been a pleasant experience. Its just really expensive. I'm sure others have mentioned this, but the estimate I got for a spay was around $600. Although I love my dog very much, I can't imagine their level of care would have been 10x better than a $60 spay that the rescue I foster for uses. If I could afford to stay with them, I absolutely would. I never left without spending around or over $200.

Wow! Where to begin? From the front desk to each person treating our dogs we have felt loved and supported. Recently, our 12 year old hound {Bella} was diagnosed with cancer. Their treatment, advice and concern was heartwarming. On the day Bella was going to be euthanized (she was bleeding tremendously) the vet tech, doctor were so tender. Afterwards, we received the kindest message from the office manager expressing sadness for our loss. My kids were blown away by the love and tenderness shown and m 12-year old stated "That's why they do what they do." It couldn't be stated better. Keep up the great work. I started coming here about 2 years ago when my dog started having some health issues. My old vet did not even test his feces when I brought him in for persistent diarrhea problems. I came to Hampden and they immediately tested him and he ended up having a nasty case of Giardia. Since then, my little buddy is getting old and has had serious issues with his teeth, bacterial infections and a pneumonia. Dr. Millizio and Dr. Butrill have been amazing and they literally saved my dogs life, twice. Expensive, yes but you get what you pay for!!

We’ve used HFPH for years. They do so well with my Shiba Inu. Dr Suhr has been incredible as a holistic vet for my aging pup who is now 12. I highly recommend this place and most specifically, her as a vet. Shiba Inus are a pain in the butt often times and they’ve always done so well with him and I have not worried at all when taking him. They’re great with him having to be muzzled at times, they don’t over charge and are so up front with all costs and don’t add unnecessary tests or recommendations. We found HFPH on a whim in '07/08. My doberman was a clumsy dumpster of a dog, and Dr. Monica was his unexpected BFF. My shepherd mix puppy rarely needed special care, but was always treated well. Over a decade later, my dobe has passed, and Dr. Loria has become the champion of my now senior shepherd mix. After a ruptured cyst, Dr. Loria used creative methods to ensure the fastest healing with the least intrusion. I have taken my 35 lb mutt to HFPH a couple times for knee issues while he was very young. Dr. Glawe examined him thoroughly, and while I was concerned he might need a surgical solution for his patella slipping out of place (certainly a pricey and difficult procedure to go through and recover from as an active pup), Dr. Glawe recommended we let him continue to grow and address the problem if the issue became more consistent. He preferred not to operate as that would have it's own lasting effects. I appreciate his professionalism and advice. Now, some time has passed, and the knee issues have not returned. My dog is highly active and energetic. Dr. Glawe clearly made the right call.

We took our aging golden to have a cancerous tumor removed from her leg. They literally saved her life. Before the surgery it seemed she was giving up the will to live. Her tumor was bleeding steadily and she would constantly lick at it. Following the surgery she was like a puppy again. Dr. Justin was awesome. I have been going to Hampden Family Pet Hospital for 12 years. I have seen almost every veterinarian in the practice over the years with different animals and have never had a bad experience. We are a cat and dog family and my animals have been seen for routine care as well as cancer, allergies, dental problems, surgical procedures, and severe feline stomatitis. Dr. Abbey helped our family say goodbye to 2 beloved dogs, one in the privacy or our own home. Dr. Glawe performed surgery on my dog's torn ACLs from which he recovered wonerfully and coninues to be an active old man. Dr. Poundstone has helped me work through my cat's severe health problems, and Dr. Miluzio helped me with some foster puppies that I was caring for at a discount! This is a great practice with employees in both the back and front office that truly care. It is not the least expensive care I have ever received but I am a tough customer and would not trust my animal's care to anyone else.

Jimmy also got blocked on a Sunday, rushed him to VRCC, where they unblocked him & Monday morning I transferred him to HFPH, where he was so well taken care of, I don't think he wanted to come home. I used to take my dogs to HFPH but moved several miles away to Littleton and found a vet closer to my home. I moved back to Englewood a couple of years ago and recently took my 16 year old dog in for a 2nd opinion on a tumor he had on his rear end. My previous vet thought that due to his age, it would be best to continue to monitor the tumor and treat with antibiotics. The tumor continued to grow and it bled a lot and I was very concerned about how it was impacting the quality of his life. I took him to see Dr. Abbey and she told me she thought that in spite of his age, they could remove the tumor safely. Dr. Glawe performed the surgery and my dog recovered very quickly and at the ripe old age of 16 is doing fantastic. My Border collie mix had a growth on her leg, which the biopsy indicated was cancer. Dr. Buttrill was the doctor I worked with the entire time, for several weeks. They removed the growth, which turned out to be a fairly complex surgery, and took very good care of the wound afterward. Lacey and I felt very cared for, both physically (for Lacey) and emotionally, for both of us. Lacey is doing really well (9 months post-surgery), with no recurrence. If I ever need this type of procedure for an animal again, I'll definitely be in touch with Hampden Family Pet Hospital. They are fantastic!

We were referred here by VRCC after a hellish week for our pup. On 3/5, our dog went in for a cystotomy at Planned Pethood in Wheat Ridge. We picked him up on 3/9 and knew something wasn't right. That night we took him to VRCC, where he was diagnosed with a gastric hernia. After several days of trying to find a somewhat reasonably priced doctor to repair the hernia, VRCC contacted Hampden Family Pet Hospital for us. Dr Glawe reached out to us personally, assessed the situation and told us he would be able to perform the procedure on 3/13. We went ahead and scheduled the procedure, since he would be able to handle any possible complications, and they had given us a reasonable quote. We went in on 3/13 to drop our pup off for his surgery. Dr. Glawe was fantastic and answered all of our questions and concerns. He went through the procedure with us, told us what he would do if he ran into any problems. He was thorough and professional and proved he was more than competent. Today, 3/14, our pup was released and is at home resting. He is doing well and I can't thank Dr. Glawe enough for doing such an amazing job. It was a tough situation, and a huge hernia. Their staff was amazing and made our pup feel at home and safe. Our experience here has been nothing short of amazing and I am so happy to have found Dr. Glawe and his team.

They were the first hospital who listened and didn't push unnecessary therapies and measures. They found the cause of my Golden's severe discomfort and Dr. Glawe now has him on the road to recovery. Dr. Glawe has been available and sincere with his actions. He has a genuine passion to help his patients and their owners.

I brought my malamute in with front end lameness. Dr Glawe was wonderful, giving her a steroid injection. When she did not regain comlete use of her shoulders, we saw Dr Suhr for accupuncture. Both drs weere so kind, and helpful. They worrked well together. Every staff member we encountered loves Moira and is so sweet to her. Although we are still undergoing treatrment, Moira is dramatically improving and slowly returning to her own self.

The entire team there from the time we scheduled, surgery day, and post surgery were phenomenal! Caring and compassionate! Happy to report our dog is fully recovered and doing very well.
