I AM SO THANKFUL for their amazing staff and wonderful care. We came home to a very ill cat and rushed him to KVVE. They took him immediately and began care before I could even sign in. They saved his life! He has spent two nights there already and the care he has been given is THE BEST!

I want to thank all the Dr.s and staff that took care of my miniature schnauzer “Koko”. She had been viciously attacked by a much bigger dog. She had a very large laceration that required immediate surgery. The Dr.s and Staff were excellent in the care that was given to Koko. They were excellent in their communication with me concerning Koko’s condition and care. I returned there to have the stitches removed and will be taking her back to have the staples removed. It has been 2weeks since Koko’s surgery and I am so happy to say that my Koko is doing great! THANKS TO. ALL THAT CARED FOR MY BABY GIRL

The staff here cares about the animals so much They give you so much information and dont rush you they give you time to make decisions they are wonderful I'm grateful for I believe her name was Paige (short blonde hair) vet tech she stood in the room with me when we had to let Roxy my mini dachshund go she has the biggest heart and cared so much and she took time to answer questions and to be there with me and my husband and Roxy I'm forever grateful for her I could be wrong about her name because it was a very emotional day and night but she was absolutely wonderful and her kind words ment everything to us especially that night when it felt like our world was crashing down Thank you to all the staff on 1-2-23 Monday night Roxy was treated with so much respect

So thankful they were available when our older dog Zoey took a final turn to the rainbow Bridge. They were very kind and attentive and empathetic. Especially in our unique situation since we are truck drivers and this happened en route in the middle of the night. We miss her so much but very thankful for her final care that she received. Stay calm. Breathe. You might be in a pet crisis. You might hear people crying, but keep breathing. Everyone there will be super nice and help. My visit was very hard emotionally, and I made some mistakes on the paperwork. I couldn't concentrate. A person helped me and told me it was fine. They made a paw print out of clay for me. I have a plaque coming and I'm going to put it with a couple other keepsakes. But, if there was a 6th star I would click it. Forever grateful and I wish I had visited under better circumstances. 🌟

My family dog recently had to stay there after having a major surgery Dr Slack and Miranda took such good care of our sweet baby. Fast, Friendly, Professional, and Affordable. Literally the only place open from Ironton, to Charleston, trust me I looked. They had my fur baby in and out in under 2 hours. Due to co-vid it's still pet only inside. They very prompt on getting your paperwork out to your vehicle so that they get your pet inside as quick as possible. I was well pleased how I received several calls to get as much information on what emergency illness that was occurring with my pet prior to bringing her in. On financial obligation they will call once they have decided on medical diagnosis and what course action to take to let you know the cost before going forward. Although it's our furbabies if you're like me most people don't think to put extra money aside for pet emergency. It had been over 12 years since I had to take a pet. Even though it's 40 miles from home I'm very grateful they're still operating.

I didn't realize how busy that place is, but the vet and her staff were very professional, helpful, and kind. She got my Ozzy fixed right up and even commented what a beautiful, sweet cat he is. I'd do anything for my furbabies so if we ever have another emergency I'd definitely take mine there again. Prices are fair too.

The emergency clinic in South Charleston are angels in disguise...they are very compassionate when it comes to having to euthanasia of your beloved pet, they also explain every step until the end. My dog is my everything. It was really busy when we got here and we had to drive an hour and half to get here but we didn't have to wait as long as they quoted us. The nurses are super nice and the doctor is amazing and patient. I'm so thankful for this place!

I brung my little girl in on sept 6, 2021. I want to thank them for helping my baby. Because of them. She is alive and doing good they were so nice they kept me up to date on what was going on and what they were planning on doing. I’m so thankful for them that night. They got deceased puppy out of her. She is home now doing great along with her other puppy. So thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️ They got her in as soon as we pulled up. They were very quick

I have nothing but great things to say about this emergency hospital! Our epileptic aussie started having cluster seizures that we could not control on a Saturday. We brought him in and they took him back right away. They were gentle with our little guy and kept us very well updated with the treatment plan. He was kept overnight and we were encouraged to call at any time day or night to check on our pup. The vet we had was fantastic. I wish we could keep them as our primary veterinarian!

Every time I've went they are always packed the wait is four hours or more. They need to open up another facility. I have to wait in my car with my dog because she doesn't get along with other animals and she's a whiner so you know how much fun that is. The bill is not cheap.The staff are really nice I just think they need some more help or another facility because they are the only 24 hour service.

Dr. McCall literally saved the life of my French Bulldog puppy Piper when she had an anaphylactic reaction of unknown cause. The staff was very kind, keeping me updated while Piper was being treated. I've been to this clinic a few times over the years and my pets always received top notch care and the veterinarians were always respectful and kind.

So thankful for everyone here! Not only were they the only place open during Christmas weekend to take care of my puppy that was attacked but they also did amazing despite the fact they were packed! The wait was long which is expected when it’s the only place open but they did not disappoint! They loved on my little guy and stitched him up nicely. Thankful for these people that care enough to love on my fur baby when they could have easily just stayed home! One vet even came in to help on a day off because they were so busy. They kept apologizing for the long wait but I am so thankful they were there to help my baby. 5 STARS!!

Took our baby in after he lost feeling in his hind end and couldn't walk... drove almost 2 hours to get there.... waited about 5 hours before they took him in. But seen there was more urgent dogs that needed to go first. The vet was sooo incredibly kind. Was thankful a place like this was open with it being the 3rd/4th of July. Would've given 5 stars but the woman who was bringing the paperwork in and out was incredibly rude and had a nasty attitude right from the Start. My boy is back home and doing well now! So that's what really matters!

We’ve thankfully only had to visit once in many years of pet ownership, but they took good care of our dog, treated us kindly and promptly, and gave specific home care instructions at discharge. It was certainly more expensive than a routine vet visit, but that’s to be expected. This was a nighttime emergency, not a routine visit. I didn’t feel that the cost was excessive or unfair. I’m glad to have this facility around, but I hope we don’t need it again.

They Did Awesome with my Big boy Kenai, he felt right at home with the Staff there ! This will be my go to Vet ! Kenai has Lyme's disease, and they diagnosed him, ran blood test and got the medicine for him to get better all within under 45 mins at an affordable rate ! 5 Stars !!!!!

They deal with serious pet cases first, before more mundane clients. You have to understand that. I was there for 6plus hours but there were terrible injuries that came in. I understood that. They were apologetic about my wait. They took their time explaining to me my cat's condition and prognosis. I do recommend them, especially Dr. McCall

Kanawha Valley Veterinary hospital saved our puppy after he ate a Tide pod. He spent a few days with them on oxygen, and they provided excellent service. We are very thankful for all of the staff there. I feel like they went above and beyond to get him back on his feet.

I took my bfs sister and her dog. When you get there you call the number and tell them what the number is for your parking space. They bring a paper out for you to fill out. Then they come out a little later to get your pet. You can not go in with your pet (that's why only four stars- your pet is already scared feeling bad and surrounded by strangers: separation anxiety). That's the only thing I didn't like. They send you a email to get updates. The vet on duty was very nice and so was the staff.

The staff is top notch! We went knowing that my elderly dog needed euthanized. The wait was not too long, as we were not critical, but we did receive relatively quick service. At every juncture of our visit they were so kind and compassionate. The vet was wonderful. ❤

I see a lot of negative reviews about this place. Keep in mind that they ONLY see emergency situations. How tough is that? They only see you and your pet at their worst! I feel like most of these reviews are too harsh and extremely unfair to this business. We had to bring our dog in to be put down on Sunday and they couldn't have been better. They took excellent care of her and us for a very reasonable price. They even made all the arrangements to get her to the crematorium for us. I can't say enough good things about them.

If it wasn’t for this vet my dog would be dead right now. My mom and her boyfriend was in the middle of a camping trip in the mountains when my golden retriever started seizing really bad, so my mom and her boyfriend rushed 85 miles to this vet. They took great care of my mom and dog and because of you guys my dog got to come home to Florida and live and be loved by us another day. We are so incredibly thankful for you guys thank you so much!

Not a fan of waiting in my car while they take my poor cat in and do whatever they please. Also not a fan of the price, but I added a star back because they are for emergencies and one should expect to pay accordingly. I'm about an hour and ten minutes away, but they're the closest Emergency Vet around. I would go again, but I wish they would start treating customers like people and not wallets that sit in their cars and wait.

So grateful for the service they provide. I just recently moved to Charleston and when my pooch started to not feel well, I was a little at loss since we aren't established here yet. When her behavior changed enough that I brought her here. The wait was long, but well worth it! Though you don't want to need this emergency clinic, thank God it exists! Those who staff the this place are wonderful. They show care, concern and understanding when you are concerned and upset about your best friend's health emergency. Yes, it is not cheap, especially if you need diagnostics, surgical care or they need to stay a few days. Nonetheless, they were wondererful with my Aussie, Sully and thank Dr. McCall, Billie, Timothy and the techs who took care of him so well.

I was directed to this Er vet after the one in Parkersburg closed with no warning for vacation. Kanawha Valley Veterinary Emergency Hospital was considerate, honest & reliable. Every single person we met from intake tech to Dr. Meredith Dean were professional, helpful, thorough & understanding. They treated my 15 yr old senior Chihuahua overnight for pancreatitis & other issues. They were gentle & kind in their concern for each pet they had on a busy night. I also found their pricing to be very reasonable for emergency services. I have dealt with vets for my pets for over 30 years so I know the averages for most testing, xrays & bloodwork. Very pleased with Dr Dean & her staff. I highly recommend them if you ever have an urgent or emergency situation with your pets. A top notch emergency hospital!

These folks got my handsome, chonky dude, Blinky in the door, after midnight on a weekend when nobody else could. They got him assessed, gave him a full shakedown, and assured him he was by far the goodest of boys, and got us on our merry way with an arsenal specifically designed to crush upper respiratory infections right where they live, which incidentally was inside a cat named Blinky at that moment in time. Props, fist bumps, and head bonks to these wonderful, caring, courteous people. I have zero reservations recommending them to anyone in need, and we will return there in the future without hesitation. Thank each of you again, from the bottom of all our hearts.

I want to thank Dr. Dean and the technicians who helped save my cat Jaax's life! Last Sunday May 31st I brought cat who was severely clogged meaning he couldn't urinate and could've died. Leaving him behind because I don't live around the Charleston area, was heart breaking. However, they were so very kind to let me call and check on him when I deemed it necessary, which was every couple of hours, even during the night. After his procedure, Dr. Dean herself, called me and let me know how he was. By Tuesday he was ready to go home ♥️! It's been a long week, but Jaax is finally getting his appetite back and drinking water. It's sad when you' local emergency vet doesn't have vet on the weekends let alone during the week because they are under staffed 😡. I know every vet and their techs work long hours and it can be a very thankless job, but let me just say, Y'ALL ARE AWESOME and I want to THANK YOU WITH ALL MY HEART AND SOUL for saving his life! Mom is happy and so is he to be home again! Again, thank you so very much for your kindness, patience with me, your caring hearts, and your sense of urgency when it comes to these situations! My sincerest thank you from the bottom of my heart! ♥️❤️😍🐾

I rolled in there a sobbing mess. Staff were empathetic, kind and I felt they really listened to me even though I was in panic mode. My elderly hound had fought with his equally elderly brother and managed to break his jaw. The ER team gave me options but couples with recent dwindling quality of life issues I made the difficult decision to let him go. The staff were respectful of my decision and they provided a beautiful space to be with Filo in his final moments.

I cannot say enough good things about the veterinarians at KVVEH. They were absolutely amazing (during a pandemic) to assist with emergency and end of life care for my 15 year old schnauzer. This was one of the hardest times in my life and they were so compassionate, caring, and put the needs of my pet and me first. Our cat was in distress and I called to discuss his condition. The young lady I talked to was reassuring and provided good information. We decided to take him to the hospital at 5:00. Dr. Mead was honest in her assessment of his poor condition. We left him in their care, and moved him to our vet later in the morning. He wasn't able to respond to treatment, though, so we decided to let him go. He was diabetic, nearly 16 years old. Hospital called 2 days later to check on him. Very sympathetic about our loss. The staff provided excellent care for our cat and us. Would recommend them to anyone needing emergency care for a pet.

My daughters cat was miserable with a deep wound under his arm. It was the weekend so his vet wasn't open. KV veterinarian ER was right there for us. Even when I called they were on the phone immediately, and made us a priority. It was a little wait, but every ER is a wait. But it wasn't bad at all. They got the cat in, called me immediately, explained everything they were doing, and kept me well informed. The cost was minimal compared to other places. I will definitely use them again, even though I hope we never have another emergency with a furbaby! Highly Highly recommend them!! I can't thank you all enough for making Jasper feel so much better!! We really appreciate you all!!

I've never given a 5 rating on anything. My dog had a seizure about 11pm last night. By her behavior i could tell she was beyond recuperating. The vet was able to take her right in. They treated Rusty as if she were theirs. Very caring and professional. They made Rustys last minutes comfortable and restful. Thanks to everyone at the office.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS! The staff was so incredibly helpful and sweet in helping me euthanize my rabbit. They were sympathetic and understanding. The staff were working extremely hard in helping so many pets in the rooms. People tend to complain because there's a long wait, but the staff handled all of the complaints with dignity. They don't deserve nearly all of the hate they receive. They're a great company and absolutely helpful. I fully recommend them in times of a pet emergency!

Wonderful staff for my dog, during an emergency. I understand busy, buy I do feel.somethings could have moved faster,; but that's as a layman and not behind the scenes, kinda like any emergency waiting room. The fees was much more reasonable than expected. I've been there many years ago and an intial visit was way more expensive than it is now. Very please and would go back if needed!

I am from NC and was traveling through WV, when my elderly chihuahua with heart problems started having trouble breathing and walking. They were able to diagnose that it was actually back soreness treatable by some anti-inflammatories to my relief! I had a wonderful experience with this clinic and everything was very affordable. I would highly recommend them for an emergency visit. They got us in right away even on a Saturday!

Even though we couldn't go in with Taco tonight, we knew he was being well cared for by everyone in there. I have never had to worry about either of my pets being mistreated there. Even when my precious Gabriell had to be put to sleep, they treated him with such kindness and that did help the pain of saying goodbye. Yes, you have to wait outside and yes it maybe hours, but don't you also at hospitals and doctors offices right now.

Great group of veterinarians and vet techs here. All we're caring and gentle with my cat which was very sick but with their care and treatment was back on his feet within 24 hours. They were very upfront and honest about the cost of each test, treatment and medicine. I even got a refund on my initial deposit because my cat got better quicker than expected. I was able to call anytime and check on my pet too. Highly recommended from me and my cat, George Noodleman.

Expensive services, but on the night that we went, my cat passed away right as we walked in the door. A tech named Ashley (I think?) was so kind and helpful. She cleaned him up and let us say goodbye, and made us keepsakes of his paw. They even coordinated with the funeral home so we didn't have to worry about cremation. If you're having an emergency, I would definitely take my cats back here.

About 6 months ago I had a bad experience here with one of the vets and her helper. I said I wouldn’t return but last night I had no choice but to take my 10 yr old chihuahua in and was seen quite quickly. The vet I had this time Dr. Tackett and her vet tech was amazing and very friendly and very detailed in explaining to me what was going on. Although the outcome for my baby doesn’t look good, they are doing all they can to give my baby the best care.

My husband and I had to take our dog in on a weekend just days after having puppies. We knew something was wrong. They took her in and told us exactly what they would do and what she needed. They told us the price up front and told us they would throughout her care. They ended up keeping her a little longer than originally planned but did not charge us any extra money. They treated her with excellent care and we're extremely professional. I would definitely go back if there was ever a need.

Had to fill out paperwork then wait for them to come out and get my dog which took about 20 minutes, at that time they said they were ready for him so I thought he would be going straight in to see the vet, but an hour and a half went by and I hadn't heard anything from them so I called inside and spoke with a technician and he told me my dog was next inline to see the vet. So another hour of waiting. The vet called me and said she wanted to leave the wound open for drainage but when they brought him out the wound was stitched up.

I am baffled by the responses I have seen to this office. Prices are too high? It is an EMERGENCY VET. When I go to the emergency room, they bill me 4x's what my regular doctor visit is. They don't specialize in you breed of animal? Human doctors don't specialize in every ailment under the sun either, they refer you to a specialist and have you wait weeks for an appointment and until business hours open. People were laughing in the background? I saw this as well. They are office staff that keep their spirits up by keeping things light while working efficiently. I brought my dog in after she had eaten rat poison while staying with a friend while we were out of town. You wouldn't have known there was anything wrong with her to look at her (comment that someones pet issues was more important than another's). The office kept me apprised of what dangers we faced, what the costs were going to be for different procedures, and even opened a case with the local poison control center. I don't need a chummy bed side manner, or empathy (which they still had had both of), I need help curing my beloved which pet which I was helpless to do. This they did expertly. I can't say enough good things about this office and their team.

We've been there a few times when we had serious problems with our pets either in off hours or when our regular vet was closed. They provide quality care and are sympathetic of the owners' worries. Unfortunately, it is an emergency room, so you'll see lots more serious injuries and illnesses going through than a normal vet, but that's what they're there for.

Two weeks ago today, our sweet hound, Palin, sustained serious injuries - the most severe involved her front leg. Despite the best efforts of Dr. Tackett and her wonderful staff, Palin's leg required amputation. She also had to be treated for a bacterial infection. Throughout this ordeal, we could not have asked for a more compassionate, skillful, or professional group of people taking care of Palin. She has a long road ahead of her in terms of a complete recovery, but she is getting stronger every day. Thanks to everyone at the Emergency Hospital, we feel confident that Palin will soon resume a healthy and happy life. This staff deals with the worst case scenarios every day, which must be emotionally exhausting for them. I admire their dedication. Thank you Dr. Tackett, Dr. MCall, (I think there was a third doc - thank you too), the vet techs, and all of the staff for saving Palin. She is our sweet little "TRI-PAWD". My two foster kittens were diagnosed with fading kitten syndrome. Within 30 mins of becoming lifeless I rushed them here late one night and was told that 2 week old kittens not weighing even a half an ounce stood no chance but they would try. Long story short two days later I had taken them home and the boy had to be rushed back to be euthanized. But because of them the little girl had a chance and it has been 8 days and she is gaining weight. They have her the chance at living for herself and for her brither

Literally a life saver for your pets! They can do all kinds of life-saving work, including blood transfusions for cats. They do require up-front payment, but help you apply for a "Care Credit" card that can also be used for your dental and vision. The bedside manner could be better, and the hours are limited from 7pm to 7am, so they lose 1 star for that. It is the only Charleston area emergency animal hospital. The next closest is in Huntington, WV.

DO NOT BELIEVE THE NEGATIVE POSTS. I recently had a kitten (Vinny) who was very dear to my daughter. Vinny had been diagnosed with a warble in his nose. Two other vets could not get it out. Dr. McCall and her wonderful staff were able to remove it. Unfortunately, the the kitten also had parvo. Dr. McCall caught this also, but due to it not eating for days because of the warble, I had to make the difficult decision to let him go. Dr. McCall made that difficult decision easier by taking the time to provide me with all of the options and showing great empathy toward the decision. Dr. McCalls intuitive diagnosis of the parvo did allow me to treat and cure his twin brother's parvo. I have an animal ER 15 minutes from my house in Huntington, but if I ever have an emergency in the future I will drive the extra hour to Dr. McCall as she is one of the best vets I have dealt with in 40 years. THANKS Dr. McCall you helped save our other furbaby.
