I always love taking our babies to the vet. From the time you call until they say goodbye when you leave, they treat your fur babies like you would treat them. We have many for babies, and Animal Care has taken care of all of them starting with our chocolate lab who they saw as a puppy. And continued seen her until the day we had to put her down. you cannot ask for a better vet. they are always so sweet, so caring, and are always there when you need them. Our babies are always so excited to go to the vet. We love Dr Patton and the full staff.

WOW! Truly amazing service. I was so worried when my pacman frog got sick that there wouldn’t be any veterinarians in the area that knew how to care for him, but I was so impressed by Dr. Webster! He was very honest with me in his diagnosis, and neither of us were sure if Gus would make it, but he prescribed an antibiotic and Gus has been doing so much better! He’s eating again, pooping, and moving all about by himself! I really can’t thank Dr. Webster and the fantastic team at Animal Care Associates enough. They were all so lovely and professional. ( First pic is him now, second two are when he was very sick before taking him in )

The staff was very friendly from the minute we walked in to the minute we walked out. Dr. Patton was very knowledgeable, answered all my questions, and addressed any concerns. He and the tech took the time to explain everything thoroughly. It was such a pleasant experience, it made the struggle of getting my cat into the carrier worth it.

I found an injured Wood Thrush at our door this morning, having lost its tail in an apparent struggle with a cat. After wrapping it in a soft cloth, storing in a cat carrier with seed and water and covering the carrier with a towel, I took the bird to Animal Care Associates. They were very prompt, kind and courteous. There is no charge to take in an injured animal, but they do rightly ask for donations if you can. Ironically, I got nowhere with my local DNR office, but another State agency I called in error gave me the phone number of a wildlife rescue in Eastern WV. It was only through them did I find the local liaison, Animal Care Associates in Charleston, WV. I received a free cat comb from their lovely office, filled with animal artwork of all types and a beautiful aquarium. I applaud them heartily.

No matter when I go to Animal Care Associates with one ( or more) of my pets, we are always greeted warmly, and gotten the best care! It doesn’t matter which vet or vet tech helps us; a great and competent group of animal lovers, all of them! Patience, no matter how many times our dog jumps on them or our cats hiss! I have never regretted using them for our veterinary care.

The Vets, techs and other staff are wonderful. They are knowledgeable and caring. My pets always receive excellent care. There are a couple Animal Clinics closer to my hone but I choose to make the 1hr 15 min drive to ACA because I am confident about the care my pets will receive. I highly recommend this facility.

Dr Patton is phenomenal with my exotic bird! He is gentle, talks to Solomon to calm him as much as possible and thorough with exams. Solomon does not hate me so much for taking him to the vet anymore!

We took our cat Kytoko in for a spay, the staff were very kind and helpful even at their opening time (we had an appointment!), came back later that day to get her and while they weren't having the best day, they were still very kind and courteous! Little pricey so maybe not a great budget choice, but if you want to give your pet some of the best care in the area(they even do lizards! We took our beardie in!) You can do no better than Animal Care Associates!

They take excellent care of your animals and the vets are very experienced! They have so many extra accreditations that they aren’t required to have which shows they really care - they are more expensive than some other places but you’re really paying for quality, it’s worth it!

There are people on duty to take care of patients without long wait at counter. Waiting area is large with comfortable bench seating. They are above average taking calls. A real person answers. Handlers seem to take an interest in pets and take time to calm skittish dogs rather than just dragging them back to exam rooms.

On Dec 22nd 2022 I realized my bunny Snowball was having significant bladder issues. After desperately trying to find a rabbit savy vet Dr Pinkston squeezed me in that day. Snowball had a bladder full of sludge & needed surgery to survive. Dr Pinkston's Christmas vacation was starting at the end of the day. He came in the next morning to perform the critically needed surgery & saved my boy's life. I can't thank Dr Pinkston enough. Can't recommend ACA Inc enough, especially if you have a rabbit(s).

AAHA accredited unlike most (all?) in Kanawha Valley. The staff is nice and pay attention to your questions. Like each Vet, so far. Only one person at front desk that isn't very 'open' in facial expressions and can be impatient while checking out. I work to get her to smile. 3 yrs ago the ONLY Veterinarian I called that were aware or willing to inocculate my teeny dog with Lepto seperately from the 5/6/7/8-in-one(!) shots that are NO LONGER NECCESARY ea. yr. After the boosters & 1 year rabies, one only needs to inoculate every 3yrs. with exception toward Lepto & Lyme. WV is a State that Leptosporosis "flare ups" are likely 2 occur. My dog(s) are inocculated each yr at her/his annual exam. I have witnessed dogs recovering from Lyme looking emaciated & part crippled from the infection. Oh my! She is also innoculated for Lyme. No way my Lil girl will be in that predicament. Don't forget having Animal Care Associates check 4 heartworm; & provide yr round protection! ACA will remind you & ask if you'd like to have the test performed, but ya haveta 1st go to be reminded! Mosquitos hatch throughout the winter here, it isn't cold enough to kill them off until spring. I suggest heartworm medication/prevention yr round. I've witnessed treatment of an infected dog. It was horrible! I saw a robust, protective GSD, bada*s, "go down" with eyes rolling up as the toxin to kill the heartworm infection, was injected into him every 12 hrs for-I believe-3 days. Timber was lucky, he survived, many may not, especially if you skip the vet until something goes wrong. I'm horrified by some who, when asked what happened, answer with,"I dunno why she died" or "maybe he ate something bad" or "he was 7 & old 😳". None of this needs to happen! Take your pets here & they'll be glad to keep your pet from the "I dunnos" to the best of their ability. Prevention is key! People buy shots at hardware store & while better than nothing, do not understand rabies isn't a part of those 👀 or think it too costly to go to Veterinary. The fact is, you save if they get sick & shots here are not expensive. I feel better getting this off my chest & out to you West Virginians, my home sweet home?

Had an unfortunate incident where a box turtle was inadvertently mowed over in high grass, creating a hole in his shell. We took the turtle here, donated it, and the good folks here patched his shell and nurtured him back to health. Great work

We recently began going here for one of our chickens. I cannot say enough good things about the entire staff and doctors. They worked very hard to figure out what was going on and even called of the late evening to check on her and made follow-up calls after visits. The staff is very professional and they actually care about the animals. I will be bringing all of my pets here (and I have quite a few LOL). They're not the cheapest vet in town, but you get what you pay for in my experience. I would highly recommend Animal Care Associates!

I have been going to Animal Care for around five years now. I have never had a bad experience with them. The hospital is very clean, the staff is always kind and courteous and will assist you in any way they can. They take the time needed to evaluate and treat your pet. We love Animal Care Associates! The entire staff help you care for your fur babies, while pointing out areas you can save money. I truly feel the staff genuinely care about the whole family. On one occasion, my dog needed to come into the office, I'd had surgery and couldn't drive, so the receptionist offered to come to my house to pick him up! I highly recommend these guys to everyone!

Adopted a few new fur babies. Took them in to see Dr Slack as soon as possible. She is an excellent vet. She listens to the owners and doesn't talk down to them. We love our animals and we know them well so it is important to us that a vet listens.

We took our pets to this vet to get a second opinion and to see if they were better than another vet clinic we were going to. As soon as we walked thru the door we knew we loved it!! The lobby was very bright, clean, & inviting, the staff greeted us with a smile & our dogs felt very comfortable! (Which is not easy to do with our smallest timid/shy little guy!) They were very prompt, friendly, and thorough through the whole process. The vet took her time and made sure to follow thru with many different options! She even asked other vets opinions on a tough X-ray! We were glad the whole team came together to make sure our pets were getting the care and attention they deserve. By the time we left we even scheduled for a spay surgery feeling completely confident they would take good care of our little girl. We are so glad we decided to take a chance with animal care associates & know this will be our lifelong vet clinic!!!

Our Greek tortoise was showing signs of some sort of eye infection on a Thursday evening. My husband called and they were able to fit us in the very next day. The staff was all very friendly. In addition to the eye infection, the doctor also detected a respiratory infection that we didn't know she had. Treatment is antibiotic injections and eye drops. They made sure we knew the proper way to administer the injections before letting us go. Additionally, the doctor called a few days later to check on her. Fabulous care!

I am really happy with this office. The staff and the doctors are very kind and they are always prompt and professional. They call to check on my pet the day after a visit. I got a welcome card in the mail. Just overall a nice experience. A little pricier than my last vet but 100x better quality in service and how my pets are treated! This will be my forever vet for my exotics.

From my first call, this place gave exceptional care to our little kitty. We were very worried about her, and personally, I think they saved her life. Also, you can pay someone to do a job, but you can’t pay them to care, and everyone involved with our cat, especially the two doctors, gave off a very loving and competent vibe. This is just a wonderful place to take your pets. They are loving and caring people with a lot of compassion for both the pet and you. Everyone there is extremely kind and considerate. They are the type of people who understand that your pet is more than just a pet, they are part of your family who you love and care for a great deal and they offer the best care possible. That is why I drive over 2 hours to go there! I also had surgery on my pet rat for a tumor here on 12-2-19, it went well and brought her home. She was home for a day and then started having problems breathing and called them and they said to either take her to emergency vet since it was almost 7 pm, or if I thought it would be ok to bring her there next day, but they said if her breathing started going down more to take to the emergency vet. Her breathing improved after I cut off the little cone they had on her head so I figured I would wait till next morning to see how she did. Next morning she was breathing about the same but had become very lethargic so called them and they said bring her in right away and as soon as I would get there they would place her in O2 treatment. So I did and they did. They did x-ray and found out she had got pneumonia in one lung, so I asked if they could keep her there and they said sure and would treat her for it. They said the out come didn't look to good but they would do what they could. So checking in each day and for the first 2 days not much of a change and on the end of the second day they called and said she was now moving her had. To me that was a big improvement, but to make a long story short each day she got better and yesterday 12-10-19, she got to come home and is just like she was before, running around and wanting treats and stuff. She recovered due to the great and thoughtful, loving care she got there. I can't think of a better place to take your pet to. They are not just a dollar sign, they actually do care for your pet just like we do. If I could give more than 5 stars I sure would! Thank you to all the wonderful staff and doctor there for a outstanding job! I will always remember what you did for the both of us.

I highly highly recommend this place to anyone, especially anyone with pets that are considered exotic, such as my rats. Dr. Webster was amazing and not only took great care of my pet but also helped to teach us why she was sick on a physiological level. He did his research before prescribing her medication because she is a unique pet and even gave us part of her medicine for free. Definitely my first choice for a vet office!!

The office is always spotless and efficient when we visit. I have never had much of a wait to be seen, even when being fit in for an emergency. I entrust my Frenchie, pittie and hunting dog rescues, and cat to the providers and staff here completely. I have owned dogs all my life and ACA is second to none in service and love for animals. I found Animal Care Associates as a last option for an emergency vet visit, but it turned out they were the best option to ever make. On March 2nd I took my rabbits both to get neutered at another vet called Good Shepherd Vet. They didn’t tell me ANYTHING about aftercare for my rabbits but I had done research to help me. One of my rabbits was recovering fine, but my dwarf rabbit seemed to be licking excessively at the wound. He had been eating a little and drinking but only slightly and I noticed he wasn’t really pooping much. I wasn’t sure whether to bring him to a vet or not because he was still eating and drinking and pooping, but suddenly he started getting worse. I could hear his stomach gurgling and he started not drinking or eating anything and not pooping. I called Good Shepherd Vet and tried to get an appointment or even just an emergency visit but they were full. I desperately searched google for any surrounding emergency vets but almost all of them were booked. That’s when I by chance came across Animal Care Associates. I gave them a call and despite their schedule being completely booked they squeezed me in between an appointment which I appreciated so much. It turned out that my rabbit was severely dehydrated, had ulcers in his mouth, was underweight from not eating much the couple days after his surgery and was going through GI stasis. If it wasn’t for Dr. Karin Fujitani I don’t think my rabbit would’ve made it. She was incredibly kind to me and explained in depth about what options of treatment we could go with and with her instructions/guidance I was able to nurse my baby back to health. I was amazed at how in depth about care that Dr. Karin Fujitani was and how patient she was with me with explaining things. They also have a cute website called petly.com where you can see your pet’s appointments and info so I really enjoy that. I absolutely won’t take my rabbits anywhere else ever again except for Animal Care Associates.

Animal Care Associates is an exceptional practice. We have been pleased with all the doctors (two of which have performed surgery on our dogs). I appreciate that the doctors and staff end the visit by asking if you have any questions. I also greatly appreciate receiving a phone call or text after a surgery or procedure is done as I tend to get anxious and hope everything is going well. I have two labs that I entrust to the care of Animal Care Associates and there's a reason for that. My dogs love going to the vet and I credit that to the love and attention they receive every time they go. I want only the best care for my dogs and that's what they get at Animal Care Associates.

If I could give Animal Care 10 stars I would! We have been clients there for 30 years with many pets--dogs, rabbits, rats.We have gotten nothing but the best of care from the wonderful staff. Dr Webster treated my rabbits back in the day when they were considered "exotic animals" and not too many local vets knew much about them. I adore Dr Beth Tackett! She immediately diagnosed my Johnny with distemper when another vet was calling it anything but that, and Animal Care saved his life. Johnny loves to go visit her and all his friends there. Their hospital is AAHA accredited and is super clean and modern.They are perhaps a little more expensive than some other area vets but they are up on all the latest technology and standards of care. I will never go anyplace else and I very highly recommend Animal Care Associates to any animal owner, no matter what kind of animal you have.

I could not be more satisfied with the care received by my sugar glider. Dr. Tackett is knowledgeable, friendly, and compassionate. The staff is friendly and the business establishment is clean. My male was neutered today without any complications. The only thing I wish they had was a 24 hour emergency line. Other than that, this place is absolutely perfect!

I didn't have an appointment and my dog was in pain. They said bring her in and we'll see what's going on. The Dr. found out that her arthritis was worse and she had hurt her leg jumping up onto the bed. We are now reevaluating her pain management and trying something new. Right now her pain level has dropped to the point her can move around without whimpering. I have to say I love all the DR.s there! They care about their patients and that counts a lot!! Thank you

Dr. Patton is an absolute angel. I brought in an extremely sick tortoise that was given to me, and he gave me the option of donating him to the clinic so he could be cared for and saved at just the cost of the examination. He was extremely thorough and up-front with me about the tortoise's many issues, and was the most knowledgeable reptile vet I've ever spoken to. Dr. Patton assured me that if the tort made it, he would personally adopt him, and I knew that the poor little guy would be in the best hands possible. I am so fortunate to have found such a caring and knowledgeable reptile vet, I have recommended this clinic to all of my friends and will be taking all of my reptiles and any other "exotics" there over the years. We had to have our baby put to sleep on February 10th and I have to say Doctor Webster is just exceptional. I have been taking my animals there for approximately 9 years now and he is the absolute best. He made the process easier and allowed us all the time we needed to say goodbye to our Barney. I genuinely can’t recommend this place enough. They’re kind, as accommodating as they can be, and I fully trust them with my pets well being. I have bounced from vet to vet trying to find the right fit for me and my fur family, they’re perfect. This place is one of the only places in the tristate that is not only capable or seeing exotics such as rats, but the experiences I’ve had with Dr Fujitani have been fantastic, especially for my rats. I drive all the way from Huntington to see them, and honestly don’t intend to go anywhere else anytime soon. 10/10 best vets in the tristate area.

I had to bring in both of my bunnies (Roberto and Ringo) for an appt. Dr. Webster and his staff were amazing. They gave two bunny physicals simultaneously and then it took three of us to clip Ringo's nails as he is a rescue and still nervous around people. I can't believe how wonderful the staff was and they love all the animals. Now Ringo loves his nails! Very happy. :)

Every visit to Animal Care Associates has been above the norm for vet clinics. My cats & I are treated kindly by knowledgeable staff. Diagnosis and Treatment plan are explained in detail, including fees. No surprise bill when leaving. Best place ever for animal care.

The best veterinarians in town. They treat your pet the way people used to be treated when they saw the doctor. This visit was an emergency and when I got there, half of the staff came out to see if they could help. There was no waiting. He went straight to the evaluation area and I was put in an exam room. Two veternarian's assistants and two veternarians came out individually and talked with me making sure I was informed of what they were doing and why they were doing it. My furbaby went to doggie heaven but he got wonderful care before he went. I highly recommend Animal Care Associates to any one that loves their furbaby.

This is by FAR the best vet service I've ever experienced. We'd never even been there before when our bulldog got extremely ill very quickly, and the receptionist told me to come on in, they'd make space. Not only did they make SPACE, the vet (Dr. Melissa Andritz, a Cornell graduate!) and her tech Jennifer did literally everything they could think of to help our pup, took hours out of their very busy day to pay special attention to us, and the cost was quite reasonable for all the work they did. I won't go anywhere else again, period. I HIGHLY recommend this place, the staff and the vets to anyone in the area. We live 35 minutes away and will always bring our animals to Dr. Andritz! You'd be hard pressed to find better care within 100 miles.

Recommended by a friend and well worth the little extra drive. My dog has some special needs and this place was very helpful in continuing her treatment after we had moved from another state/vet. To that lady below complaining about not getting in on a saturday: thats what appointments are. Make one and you'll get in. That said, ACA does try their best to get you in as soon as possible and have been fairly flexible with my work schedule. The most impressive thing is all the vets and techs actually get on the floor to try and put my dog at ease, who is always terrified going to the doctor and on her last visit actually did much better. Everyone I've talked to is extremely nice.

The only place I have ever brought my rabbits. I trust them, knowing they have knowledge in exotic pets. I will say though, I brought one of my rabbits in emergently in February and waited 2.5 hours before he died in my lap without ever being seen. I understand people having appointments but an emergency is an emergency, and that was his vet office. ETA: I have now lost both of my rabbits under their care. I will say Dr. Fujitani (sp?) was very knowledgeable and helpful during my last visit, but I will not be rescuing any more rabbits because the options for care in the area is limited to just them.

We met Dr Patton in 2013 when we had to put down our 17 year old cat. We lost our cat early because of negligent care with another animal hospital. They didn't take the time or seem to care he was in renal failure. They explained as allergies. As a last ditch attemp, we took him to Dr Patton who immediately knew what was wrong. Oh how I wished Felix had been in a Dr Pattons care, we may have had him longer. My remaining cat has been with Dr Patton since then. I would not trust his care to anyone else. I feel Dr Patton sincerely cares about his patients. I've also gotten him two other patients as a result. ACA is the only place to have reptiles appropriately treated in the Kanawha Valley. Our bearded dragon was showing signs of a RI, and they got us in immediately. They did not perform unnecessary procedures to increase our costs, and they taught me how to provide the antibiotic injections.
