Update: They called me about this. I learned the requirement for an exam is a Vermont state law and stand corrected on that. State laws like this can make this difficult for travelers as I’ve literally visited a vet in Pensacola, FL in March, Washington, DC in April and my vet in Illinois both June and July then here in August. They did kindly refund my money for the exam and I certainly appreciate that and the phone call. Thank you. *** I’m a full time traveler but needed to get a follow-up blood test for my dog to send to my vet back home after being on his prescription for a month. I called several other vets in the area I am staying but couldn’t get in for 4-5 weeks so went further afield and called VCA Fitzgerald. I told them I just need a CBC/Mini-chem to send to my other vet, nothing else, as my dog has been to vet 4 times in past 3 months, up to date with tests and shots. Yes we can get you in next week and do that for you, please bring his records. I showed up about 5 minutes early to check in and give them my records, 45 minutes later, after asking twice, a tech finally took me into an exam room and got some information. Told me they “had to” to give an exam for a new client. I said no, he doesn’t need that and that is not what I asked for on the phone and was not told that either. Repeated “they had to”, huh, THEY had to because THEY have to, it’s their rule, right? Well they took him in back to get the blood but after 45-50 minutes he was a little anxious, I went back and held him so vet could draw blood. They got it then we all went back to the other exam room, vet followed. Listened to his heart and said, well I can’t give him the rest of the exam because he’s too upset. So, I paid $81 for an exam I didn’t want, wasn’t told I “had” to have, and ultimately, didn’t even get. They did process the blood quickly and gave me the printouts and said they would email to my vet in Illinois, too. But I resent the wasted money on the required exam that we didn’t get. I also understand emergencies but they didn’t have one, so why did I have to wait 45 minutes for my appointment? Wouldn’t go back.

Fitzgerald is amazing, they helped my dog when she was having complications with her pregnancy. They actually cared about the wellbeing of my dog and one of the only Vets I know who didn't try to up charge us with all extra money costing services. I have changed them to my regular vet and they even sent me a welcome card in the mail, I'm super pleased with this place and excited for my dog to have them as her regular vet. I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is. After being turned away from an emergency vet and the pet urgent care for them being short staffed and full. This hospital took my dog in and we weren't a patient here. The prices were very reasonable and my dog who is nervous at our regular vet was treated so compassionately. Thank you for your help!!

I feel that Fitzgerald Veterinary, really do care about the well-being of our "fur-baby." and offer lots of good advice on any issues, concerns, or just out of curiosity for us....They also have helped us through our process in helping our Blake, (our dog) in his allergies and what NEEDS to be done so he doesn't suffer and other ways to be helpful so he can be the best dog he can be!!! I would definitely suggest this place to friends and family!

I have brought both my elderly cat with renal failure and my healthy younger cat and as a professional in animal care, I have been nothing but impressed. Lots of goodies on the first appointment for my younger one and lots of compassion and care In helping with my older cat in his final time. When my older cat was admitted here I could call them anytime and they were always happy to keep me updated and give him lots of love. Though it was very hard to lose a pet to age, they were so kind and helpful in making sure he was comfortable and that I got the time I needed with him to say goodbye. Waiting times can be a bit long since they do not allow you into the building due to Covid, but this is pretty standard with vet clinics at this time. The techs are attentive and compassionate and the doctors are kind and knowledgeable, highly recommended.

I dropped my little man off this morning to have his eye removed. I totally trust Doctor Faul who is doing the surgery. She removed his other eye about a year and a half ago. He did great after recovery. The Stagg at VCA Fitzgeral is just amazing. They all are very friendly and caring.

This place has treated us well so far. They have been very responsive to our concerns with our little pup, and always work with our budget as well, providing alternatives to costlier treatments. Our Vet, Dr. Flanders has been spot on in treating our little guy so far and the supporting staff are amazing, bright, and full of love for every animal that walks in. Other perks: complimentary coffee in the lobby, with every appointment dogs can have their nails clipped and anal glands expressed (which is so nice not to have to do yourself), and there's an awesome parrot in the lobby named Otto. Fitzgerald has a small product section with different foods and treatments, but they aren't pushy trying to get sales with them. Overall, great place so far and we are completely satisfied with their services and treatment of our little pup.

Great overall experience on all fronts. The receptionist Diane was empathetic when I called on a Friday morning and was able to fit my dog in for an ear infection appointment. Dr. Daly was through and personable. Highly recommend!

The puppy socialization classes did wonders for my girl! I've recommended my sister when she rescued her new kitten that was sick. I have used this vet hospital for over 20 yrs. The staff is very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. I love the great care my dog receives every time we visit. I adore my dog and do what I can to keep her happy and healthy. My only issue is the extreme cost of the visit. I could not believe it when I saw I was charged for poop disposal. I will continue visiting here due to the great care for my dog.

Dr. Jennifer Faul has been taking care of our dog for years, and we have been taking our pets here over 20 years. We got our current dog as a rescue puppy from here and we have even boarded him there on a trip. They helped coordinate care for our dog when he was very sick a few years ago with Peak Vet Hospital until he was recovered. Highly recommend these folks for your pet.

I would not take my cat blue anywhere else, Dr Faul saved my cat's life. We have been going to Fitzgerald's for years..they are kind and compassionate. As for the complaining folks here..do not have a pet if you can't afford to take care of it properly. Fitzgerald's always does what is best for my pets and tells it like it is...which is the way it should be. Its about what's best for them..not how YOU feel..

I’ve been bringing my dogs to Fitzgaralds for years now. I trust them, their opinions and their treatment(s) We used to go to the Milton Vet because it’s convenient and close to home, but we’ve found they’re almost double the price that Fitzgeralds is and back in 2013 they misdiagnosed a HUGE infection in my pugs eye which forced me to look for a new vet and get a second opinion. However, by that time it was to late. Fitzgeralds did catch the infection before it spread to his other eye, however we did end up having to remove his left eye. Then, shortly after he got cataracts in his right eye and went completely blind. I was devastated to say the least. Although he bounced back, and went about his life as if he had two good eyes, I’ll never forgive Milton for causing the amount of pain and suffering we went through. We’re so grateful to Fitzgerald’s for everything they’ve done for us during that incident and all the other procedures, and surgeries they did on my pup to keep him happy and healthy. When I lost my baby in April of 2017 to epilepsy I was, and always will be heartbroken. One specific day I’ll NEVER FORGET. I called Fitzgerald’s 3 minutes before they closed crying because my pug was having cluster seizures and nothing I was trained for was working, for the first time, I couldn’t get him to come out of it. At this time we lived about 30-35 minutes away, and they stayed open just to get us in, that kind of customer service just doesn’t happen. As soon as we arrived, they gave him a shot of medicine which stopped the seizures immediately, they took him out back where they placed him in the oxygen cage. They kept him there all night to monitor him. The next morning they sat down with us and gave us a couple options, none of them were good and unfortunately, that next day I lost him 😢 But I truly believe they did everything they could to get him breathing on his own and to give me one more day with him. I’ll forever be grateful to them for the years and years they’ve gone above and beyond! I recommend them to anyone and everyone looking for a good vet who puts you and you’re animals first, before the money!! Great job Fitzgerald’s Veterinary hospital! Thank you for all you continue to do for our fur babies! We’ll see you soon for Maylees next check up 👍

My dogs have been patients at FAH for over 20 years, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. All 3 vets are absolutely first rate, and so is the important support staff. Three years ago they literally saved the life of my very sick pup, and even now they call him the ‘miracle puppy’-but it was their outstanding care and expertise that pulled him through! He's not a regular here but when I got home from work and found my dog unexpectedly sick with an abscess on his chest I called his usual vet but the front desk told me they were scheduling a few days out. Not really the response I was hoping for. I saw that Fitzgerald was still open and they were able to take him immediately.

Drs. Fitzgerald & Fall take superb care of our standard poodle Chloe, who has a couple of medical reoccurring problems over the years. But Chloe is always happy to come to the hospital to see them--and she loves Dr. Fitzgerald--smiling and wagging and nuzzling for the pets he always gives her. I've been bring my fur babies to the Fitzgerald team in Colchester ever since I got my first cat from the shelter. That I may add was 19 years ago and my cat is still going strong! Since then I've added 5 more along the way, 2 of which are no longer with me. I can't express enough the caring and passion they have for the animals that come thru those doors. I've seen different Dr's there, but our favorite is Dr Jennifer Faul. We always request a time that she'll be there to see us. My cats are healthy and happy thanks to the good care they get from her and the assistants. I recommend them without hesitation when people ask where I bring my babies. I went for the first time this week with my pure bred Shih Tzu. The staff were all very informative and made me feel confident that she was in good hands. While my puppy vomited .
