We will be eternally grateful for the care, compassion, and kindness that Dr. Caroline Horn and everyone at Paws at Home showed during one of the hardest days I've ever had. My sweet, close-to-16-years-old hound dog Bo had begun to decline (not being able to walk without help, in obvious pain from arthritis), and Dr. Caroline offered helpful advice and strategies for keeping him as comfortable as possible. When the time came for us to say good-bye, it was as peaceful, gentle, and calm an experience as I could have wanted, even though my heart was breaking. Thank you, Dr. Caroline and staff, for all that you do. It is a gift.

Words cannot express our gratitude to Dr. Horn for her patience, kindness and expertise in what has been an extraordinarily difficult and searing decision and final act for Tango. We will never forget the gentle and engaged manner Dr. Horn delivered Tango to such a deserved and more comfortable place - thanks to all the Paws at Home staff - we are forever grateful.

Caroline came to our aid during one of the most traumatic times for our family. Words cannot fully express the gratitude that we have for her gentle compassion, support, patience, and guidance. I would highly recommend Dr. Horn and Paws at Home.
We were visiting family in VT--far from our normal vet--with our Newfoundland, Major, who had been recently diagnosed with leukemia, when Major illness took an extreme downward turn. Major is the first pet we have lost as a couple. To confound things further, my partner was sick with COVID-19 and isolating from the family and Major. Caroline came, as soon as possible, to the home where we were staying and supported us through Major's final moments, ensuring that he was comfortable and peaceful. Her sole focus throughout was on Major's and then our family's needs: she let us take all the time we needed to say goodbye; she even permitted my partner to participate (in a safe, socially-distanced way), as he was Major's primary person; and she counseled us on how to help our other two dogs understand Major's passing. Knowing that Major was as comfortable as possible and surrounded by the love of his family gave us all solace, during our grief. We cannot thank Dr. Horn enough for her care.

It’s never easy saying goodbye to your fur baby and Dr. Caroline was absolutely wonderful. She was kind, comforting and her bed side manner truly appreciated during such a difficult time. Can’t thank her enough for for her compassion

I feel so lucky to have found Dr. Horn, and grateful that there are people like her in the world. I called her in the wee hours of the morning after a long and difficult night. She was responsive and reassuring, clear and kind. When she arrived, our 15 year old lab had settled down in the backyard, and we didn't want to move her. Because of Dr. Horn, we were able to say goodbye to right there, in the autumn sun, her swaddled in a quilt under a maple tree. Dr. Horn listened to our tearful stories and let us take our time. It was so hard and I miss my dog horribly, but I will always remember it as a good ending.

A very powerful Thank You to Dr. Horn and the staff at Paws At Home. Helping me through the passing of my cat just after this past Christmas, 2022, was so memorable and meaningful because the complete professionalism and thoughtful care that they brought to this painful time meant that his final breath became such a heartfelt part of the fourteen years I shared with him. They provided what he richly deserved.

Dr. Horn was so kind and gentle with my cat, and me and my husband. She responded quickly to our voicemail, and was able to accommodate us in a short amount of time. She made my cat comfortable, and stopped his suffering. I will be forever grateful. Her experience and compassion made me trust her. Thank you for your help with Odie.

Dr Horn and her team are amazing- she lovingly guided me with all 3 of my cats during their hospice care. She was direct transparent, informative and very kind and patient. Moving from California to VT was a big move and Dr Horn provided a level of care and professionalism that is rare to experience

I could not have dreamt of a sweeter ending of life for my Finnegan who gave me her total devotion for 12 years. I would give 10 stars if it were possible to Dr. Caroline Horn who took care of everything. Finnegan ashes are now resting in a beautiful wooden box in her bed with her favorite toy. Even a tree will be planted in her memory in a national forest. All this has made the transition so smoother. Thank you!

This is long overdue, Last April our Siberian of 12.5 years needed to be put down. That Saturday Dante was OK in the morning, but it was obvious by late afternoon his liver cancer was shutting down him organs. Struggling with the decision, I knew it was best to put him to rest at home. We Called a few Pet places, but Caroline was the only one that responded and she was not even working that weekend. but she said she would do this for us. Words cannot express how Thankful we are for Caroline. She went above and beyond, explain everything and giving us the time we needed with our beloved Dante. I would recommend her to anybody. Thank You Again , Caroline.

Such a blessing to have this organization when we are at our most vulnerable. From the first contact in the office to the end of a very long day for Caroline, and the end of life for Marley, we were shown so much love and compassion. Thank you for making this very difficult ending easier.

Dr. Horn is so kind and patient. When it came time for our 20 year old cat Sasha to pass we knew we didn’t want to stress her out by going to a vet’s office. We heard about Paws At Home from a friend and she came to our house the same day. We are so grateful for such a respectful and peaceful passing. I have already recommended her to friends!

Dr. Horn,
Thank you for providing the at home-end-of-life gift. We called and you arrived within an hour on a weekend!! Our sweet dog, Quinn, lived 12.5 years surrounded by nature and the love of canines and humans. We were able to help him pass in the comfort of our home with the people
And dog who loved him most. The attached picture is minutes before Quinn crossed the rainbow bridge and we stayed like this the entire time. My little girls rubbed his belly, brought him dandelion bouquets and held his paws. Dr. Horn, you were compassionate and patient with my children throughout the process, even as I sobbed. They visit the spot under the Silver Maple in our yard to connect with Quinn, which is where we said goodbye. The work you do is so hard…and provides animals and their people with what they need as they let go. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful goodbye. We are so grateful. Thank you 🌈

Dr. Horn and her crew provide SUCH a wonderful service, we are so deeply greatful for unparalleled grace during the most difficult time. We were able to spend our beloved Graysons' last moments cuddling him and softly speaking to him as he purred, so happy to spend his final moments completely comfortable in his own home, in his favorite spot on the couch. It was as beautiful as a moment that painful could be. Someone else said it but I will say it again, truly worth EVERY penny. You have our undying thanks!

Dr. Horn is wonderful. Our kitty was dying, and went downhill faster than we predicted, and it was hard to watch her suffer. Dr. Horn moved up our appointment to the morning to help end our cat's suffering as quickly as possible. What a kind thing to have done.
We appreciated her help so much. She made our emergency her concern, which is above and beyond what you have a right to expect.
And she even sent us flowers and a lovely card.
From Marilee and from me, Dr. Horn, bless you and thank you.

Well it’s taken me over a year to write this review. It was the worst loosing my little Pomeranian Chloe, but I couldn’t have asked for a more loving and caring Vet to come and help her over the Rainbow Bridge! I would recommend anyone needing such unfortunate service to reach out!

We cannot say enough wonderful words about Dr. Horn and her entire staff. From the first phone call they were so kind and compassionate while also being very knowledgeable and professional. Our decision to say goodbye to our sweet little Freya was incredibly hard but everyone at Paws At Home helped us through the process with patience and sincere kindness. They were also so wonderful with answering our many questions and returning our many phone calls. They really went above and beyond. We cannot recommend them enough.

We have Dr. Caroline see our entire pup crew, and not only is she wonderful (Erin too!) but also makes it so easy for me to get annual vaccinations without bringing our circus somewhere. Most recently, we had to call her out for our oldest dog as it was his time, and she came without delay. It was hard for us to say goodbye to our boy of 15 years, but Dr. Caroline gave us such compassion and care, and her respect for animals' lives and how they pass was so evident. She made the very difficult situation easier for us and our wonderful boy. I'm so thankful for her compassion and care. I'm also thankful for Erin as she is a comforting voice over the phone and always willing to help as well.

Dr Caroline was amazing yesterday! We had a 16
year old Siamese cat named Winky who was a huge part of our family. In the recent months he has been declining. After vet appointments and much care he had declined to the point where we knew it was his time to take his final journey. We wanted him to die at home so we called Dr Caroline yesterday morning and she agreed to come at 1p. Winky passed peacefully in my husbands arms with the sunshine on his face. Dr Caroline was compassionate, understanding and ever so gentle. We will be forever grateful to her for making Winky's passing comfortable and also for giving us the space to hold him and grieve during the process. She is a wonderful vet and person. We highly recommended her.

Caroline was recommended to us by a friend when we needed to say goodbye to our beloved Bichon of 14 years. She explained how she works and what her process is over the phone which was incredibly helpful so we knew what to expect. When she came to our home, she was such a peaceful calming presence. Because Molly was so small and I didn't want her to be scared, Caroline gave her the first injection to make her sleepy while I was holding her. She then stepped out of our room while I spent my last minutes with her while her heart rate slowed and she became very relaxed. I laid her in her bed and stroked her head while saying so long. Caroline then came in and gave her the last injection which she didn't even feel. The entire process was a peaceful and pain-free as I would ever want! I highly recommend Caroline as a Vet for any sweet furry family member!

We had to put down our baby, Cleo, at only 4 years old due to cancer. It was probably one of the worst days of my life, but Dr. Horn was very compassionate and did the best she could to provide us comfort. I’m very grateful for how kind she was and her calming presence during the whole thing. Paws at Home really went above and beyond to comfort us, which meant the world.

Our rescue dog has had a number of stressful experiences at the vet office, so we were ready to try an at-home solution. Caroline (of Paws At Home) has been so kind and compassionate with our dog, and home vet appointments have gone far better than I ever expected. We had our first at-home shot this week, and our dog stayed calm the entire time, thanks to Caroline's demeanor and way with dogs. Highly recommend!

It was a rough year when my emotional support cat was diagnosed with kidney disease this January. Despite extensive at home care, his decline was rapid and in October his bloodwork indicated he was in failure. I cannot bear the thought of euthanasia at a hospital, but unfortunately my regular veterinarian could not provide at home euthanasia. They recommended Dr. Horn and I am so very grateful they did. She was so wonderful, compassionate and empathetic. Although it never could have been made easy, she made the process as comforting as it could have possibly been. He was gently sedated and passed peacefully in his favorite place: in my lap in my recliner. Included was an imprint of his paw and a tree planted in his memory. They also delivered his ashes after the as opposed to mailing them or having to pick them up which meant a great deal. If you have to let a loved companion go, it truly is worth every cent to do so in your home with a quiet and loving farewell.

Thanks to Paws at Home, our family has been blessed to experience how much stress is removed from the hardest moment of saying goodbye to a pet, when you’re able to do so in the comfort and safety of home. Incredibly professional and compassionate. As a senior dog lover, we’ll only look to Paws at Home for all veterinary care in the future when we’re ready to be blessed with our next sugar-faced family member. With deep gratitude, a wholehearted thank you to Dr. Horn.

Dr. Ford was so compassionate and have us the opportunity to send off our beloved cat in her home surrounded by her family. Dr. Ford practices good COVID safety, even in such a challenging time and we felt comfortable having her in our home. We will always be grateful to Paws At Home.

Dr. Horn and her staff are easily the most compassionate people I've met. They understand how hard it is to say goodbye to a pet and are patient listeners, gentle explainers, and overall just phenomenal people. I highly recommend Paws at Home if you need any sort of end of life care for your pet.

Our Yorkie Rugby was with us for almost 16 years. Rugby saw us through college, several careers, marriage, and two kids. As old age caught up with him we knew it would be difficult but that ultimately it was the best thing for him to help him on his way before another long Vermont winter. Rugby was a faithful and loving dog to us and I'm thankful we found Caroline to give him the loving, peaceful and quiet exit at home that he deserved. I only wish we had found Caroline sooner for all the yearly checkups and routine care that she also provides. I wholeheartedly recommend her. Caroline is providing an exceptional service for our community of pets and pet owners. Thank you Caroline!

Caroline is a kind and caring person who truly loves animals. She gives the best care for your animals that is possible! I love that she comes out to our house to give care. I highly recommend her and Paw At Home Mobile Vet. Our dog looks forward to seeing her. Can you say that about your current Vet?

Caroline, I want to express my deepest gratitude to you for your expertise and seamless navigation through difficult conversations and decisions with me regarding Lily's end-of-life care. I have been thinking that all of that cannot be easy to do with a brand new client but you were wonderful. Above all, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the loving care that you have provided to Lily and the rest of my family. Both humans and fur-babies are transitioning well after Lily's passing and I am attributing that to our experience with you on Sunday. I am forever grateful for your grace, kindness, and leadership through such a difficult time.
Your dedication and knowledge of the animals in your care shines through, Caroline, and I am extremely grateful and relieved that Satchmo and Yoshi (whom you have yet to meet!) continue to be under your care. Thank you for everything. Pam

Dr. Horn is the most compassionate, wonderful woman you could have take care of your pet. She shows a true interest, and genuinely cares about your pets health and well being. I would highly recommend her to anyone, especially if you are looking for end of life care.
The office staff is also very responsive, and you can rest assured that if you leave a message or send an email it will be returned promptly.

Today was our first visit with Dr. Horn and her assistant Erin. They were both so wonderful to work with for our senior cat (age 19). They were patient and kind to our girl who really dislikes being evaluated medically. Their care was thoughtful, attentive and gracious. I would recommend them highly!

Dr. Horn provided compassionate and quality care for our cat’s end of life. She was flexible and answered me quickly, and she made a heart breaking process as easy as possible. I highly recommend her services, especially for those animals who prefer to be at home. Thank you Dr. Horn for everything!

Caroline came on short notice and provided us with very thorough, professional service, at home. Her manner with a very sick animal was loving, gentle, kind. She stopped by a few days later to follow-up on Sophie and brought required meds, which we really appreciated.
It's stressful on everyone, mostly on a sick animal, to go out. But hard on me, too. Distracted driving, to say the least. Having her vet come to her "bedside" was comfort we could give Sophie, thanks to Caroline.
Caroline's professional expertise and reassurance is a big part of the visit, but she also had mobile diagnostic equipment to take blood pressure, weight, and do some tests. She is wonderful.

My pooch loves Caroline!
Pet visits used to be like a space shuttle launch at our old vet. My boy has had number of stressful experiences at our old vets office.
With Caroline(Paws at Home), my boy doesn’t get stressed or oversensitized during pet visits. The home visits are such a personalized approach and has been so helpful! Caroline is very compassionate and truly cares deeply for animals. I would highly recommend her if you have a pet that needs a more personalized visit.
Thank you!

Boofasa was my most loyal, beloved companion for a little over 11 1/2 years and made several moves with me even to Savannah, Georgia and back. It was in the south that I first discovered traveling veterinary offices which piqued my interest as my Boo was not fond of trips to the vet. After relocating to Chittenden County and a day that Boofasa was unable to get up without assistance, I began thinking that it was his time. Upon recommendations from friends, I reached out to Dr. Caroline at Paws at Home Mobile Vet who provided an evaluation and determined that his quality of life could be improved with medication and a few other options. These measures worked giving us six additional months together until Boo’s health again started to decline indicating that, in fact, now was his time to cross over the rainbow bridge. Making this most difficult decision during Vermont’s COVID-19 safe distancing practices, I contacted Dr. Caroline to make arrangements for which they were so understanding and accommodating. On the chosen date, Dr. Caroline arrived and immediately Boofasa was at ease with her in our home. Choosing his own spot outdoors, Boofasa was then made so comfortable that he began snoring. After three other pups leaving my world, this was by far the best and most humanely, peaceful sendoff as I was able to be right next to him, petting him and assuring that he knew I was there with him until the end and all in the comfort of our own home. Dr. Caroline, thank you for the care provided that extended Boofasa’s time with me and for his final arrangements. Should I be blessed to be chosen as a Dog Mom again, Paws at Home Mobile Vet will be my go-to for pet care and I will highly recommend to all my friends.

My animals absolutely LOVE to see Caroline when she comes to see them. She really has a loving way of handling and interacting with them. Also, in the end when that horrible day comes ( we do our live our pets), Caroline really helps you through it.

We had Dr Horn and her assistant come and euthanize our 14+ year old black lab! They were amazing and so kind and professional! Highly recommend them. It was a very peaceful process and was great we got to do it from our home!

When it was time for our dear Westie to cross over, Caroline made arrangements for our girl to peacefully pass on under a beautiful tree. We cannot thank her enough for her kind and compassionate care of our sweet Misty and us.

Exceptionally caring, kind, and professional. As difficult as my situation with my Jackson was, I could not have hope for anyone better than Dr. Horn and her staff. I am so grateful for their kindness and compassion in helping my boy transition, handling everything and so gracefully through the the entire process, and genuine concern for the remainder of our household. Thank you so very much. Heartbroken but you made the situation the best it could be.
