We just wanted to say thank you so much for the wonderful care and love you gave our dog Sierra during her time there. I can’t say enough about how amazing everyone was and the great communication and compassion I felt from everyone. I want to give a special shout out to Maddie and Maya at the front desk, they went above and beyond to make a really tough night for me a little better. Also to Morgan, one of Sierra’s nurses, who I could really feel cared about Sierra and gave her the best care and lots of love. You all made a really traumatic experience a little easier just knowing that she was being so well taking care of and supported. It brings me some comfort knowing that we have this amazing facility with great people in case anything else goes wrong. Everyone was so friendly and kind. Thank you for being so awesome!!
I also have to agree with other reviewers, think of this place like a human ER, it's not first come first serve, you are seen based on severity as well as what their current capacity is. Patience is key, you will have to wait (I was there for 5 hours). But just know they will make sure you pet is extremely well taken care of!

I can not say enough good things about BEVS! They saved our baby boy Boomer! The constant communication and updates were so appreciated. The pictures and videos that they sent us brought so much comfort to my family. When your dog is on the verge of death and you are in crisis mode, the staff was phenomenal with my family. Thank you for saving our sweet boy!

BEVS did a really wonderful job caring for my dog after he decided to check out a porcupine. The front desk staff was honest about wait times and extremely friendly and pleasant- even at midnight. Despite being told the wait could be 4-6+ hours and having a packed ICU, we got lucky and the veterinary team was able to get Hobbes in, sedated, and de-quilled in just under 2 hours. All assistants, nurses, and veterinarians were wonderful and helpful. Prices are very reasonable for an emergency vet clinic. I would not hesitate to take my dogs here if we were to have another after hours issue. Thank you guys, you rock!

My dog has been a little under the weather and last night had a seizure. He was rushed to BEVS. i was told from the get go that there could be an excessively long wait as there were very critical cases there. I totally understand this and appreciate their Honesty. From my first phone conversation with the receptionist, to the nurse , to the vet , I was kept informed every step of the way. They under promised and over delivered. They answered all my questions and concerns. My niece is in vet medicine and of course I called her right away. Everything she said , was echoed at BEVS. My niece is so incredibly smart so I would have to conclude so is the vets I dealt with here. They laid out the options and costs and did not try to sell me tests that wouldn’t matter. I really appreciated this. Emergency care is costly , but I completely understand and appreciate the costs involved in operating a hospital. It’s tremendously cheaper than a nationwide chain that begins with V And ends with A. People need to understand this isn’t a restaurant. Just because you got there first doesn’t mean you are seen first. I’m grateful that my dog was stable enough that he could be pushed back. There are critical cases coming in and they need to take priority. Yelling at the staff doesn’t change that and they are trying desperately to save all animals. Show them the same compassion they show you and your pets. I hope I never need to use them again , but I would without a doubt recommend them to anyone in need of emergency care! Sadly for us , Drake has lymphoma and will not make it. For the next few days he’s getting the royal treatment cheeseburger’s, ice cream , long drives. Maybe even a few rolls of paper towels to destroy. One of his favorite activities ! I can’t thank the staff enough for their compassion and will be forever grateful to you all. .

Honestly I can't even say how great my experience was here, I went the day before to the other emergency vet in the area and got robbed of my pets health, my time and my money. But at BEVS, every single person there showed caring, respect and went above and beyond to help my cat, and me. This was the fist time my cat has ever left a vet calm. I just want to say thank you and keep up the great work!

I feel compelled to write this, as BEVS has always done such a great job with our great boy and recently deceased senior pup, Spencer. Although we miss him dearly, we know that we gave him the best vets around.
I would urge anyone in Chittenden county to fully trust BEVS’ judgement and know that they are giving the absolute best care possible to your non-human friend.
Drs. Stevens and Lummis were outstanding for Spencer’s most recent visits and stays, but I can say with confidence that we never had a negative experience at BEVS throughout his entire life. Every vet at BEVS was so good and spoke highly of our sweet boy throughout the years. He dodged a lot of bullets and was at BEVS a few too many times … but the care was excellent from all staff. Looking back, I only wished that BEVS was our primary vet.
Seeing the negative ratings here make me a bit bummed when such a special business and staff exists in our area, but I understand it. When money is involved emotion takes over. When sickness and death are involved, emotion takes over.
One thing about BEVS to know ahead of time: If it it medically urgent and life threatening, they will get you in nearly immediately. If you must wait, that is ok. They have a triage rating, and sometimes we must understand that there are sicker animals than our own that need to be prioritized and tended to first.
Thanks again, BEVS.

Called Bevs Friday evening as my puppy Randall was having some diarrhea and vomiting, they urged us to bring him in right away so we did. Everyone was wonderful. Randall was seen and diagnosed with Parvovirus. They gave us an estimate for the cost of care and hospitalization costs, which we really appreciated.
It was recommended that Randall be kept overnight to monitor as this virus can be deadly. Every time I called for an update I was promptly transferred to his dr and given an update. He was released 24 hrs later with home care instructions.
Randall is recovering wonderfully, and we are so thankful for everything Bevs did to help our little guy. It is expensive and they do not offer any payment plans, which worries me about other pets who’s owner can’t offers the high prices.

Five stars in not nearly enough to express our gratitude for all the help that my girlfriend and I received from BEVS when our 3 1/2 year old lab Sirius had his first seizure. They talked us through every step of the way over the phone up until we arrived and were so understanding and patient with all of our questions and fears. Sirius is a very anxious dog and his worst nightmare is having to be away from us. BEVS did such a fantastic job updating us in the car and letting us know how he was doing. They were able to calm him down so much that when he came back out he just looked at us like "Oh, hey guys! What's up?"
After the visit they followed-up just to make sure he was still doing okay, and they wasted no time in sending all the information from the visit to our regular vet. Thank you again to every single staff member at BEVS we spoke to that day, you all have no idea how much your calmness, patience and reassurance helped a pair of anxious puppy parents!

Drove 3.5 hours to get here and was treated with the utmost respect. They were super helpful as soon as I walked through the door at 4 in the morning. The awful news came where euthanasia was the best route for my baby and they comforted me and my dog throughout the whole process. They gave me as much time as I needed before, during, and after the process was complete and explained everything that they were doing. It really made a difference having the staff show that they care as much as the owners do. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Our puppy ended up breaking her ankle. The night we were there they had multiple traumas and more emergent emergencies come in. We ended up being there for 12 hours but the staff was obviously busy as there were bleeding animals in the waiting room and staff tirelessly running around helping other animals. We were comfortable and we were just glad that our puppy wasn’t one of the more emergent cases. When the got to our girl, they were kind, patient and thanked us a million times for being patient. They took excellent care of our girl and got her into surgery the following day. Like any emergency room more emergent things come first so be prepare to wait if your animal doesn’t need emergency surgery, sedation, etc. Know that the wait will be worth it and they will take care of your injured and sick animal the best that they can and try to be thankful that your animal is not the one the nurses and Dr’s aren’t rushing around for.

Brought my cat here for breathing problems, coughing and he had stopped eating and acting lile himself. They got us right into a room. They took him to see a vet right off. Shortly there after the vet came in and let us know our baby was doing well they had him in the back on oxygen as he was having a hard time breathing. Turns out he has asthma. Never knew cats could get asthma. They sent us home with meds for him and he is already acting like himself. Ate the minute he got home and is breathing normal again. Thanks so much to all of you that helped us tonight. From the time we checked in we where treated with caring love and compassion. We were working on a fixed budget because it's Xmas and they figured out how to make it work. The vet was awesome and did a great job making our Smokey bear feel better. We can't thank you enough. All of you thanks. I really appreciate everything you did for us.

We had to rush our senior goldendoodle, Ginger, here in the middle of the night after a massive seizure. The vet and staff were compassionate and incredibly kind while we made the hardest decision you can face as a fur parent.
The cremation services they provided afterwards were beautiful and affordable.
It is never easy to say goodbye but having a compassionate team of medical professionals to guide you through the process is priceless.
I can't say enough good things about how they handled us as patients.

We are so incredibly thankful for BEVS for saving our pup!!
Our Doodle was happy as can be until this past Sat. He seemed to have a belly bug through the day Saturday and by Sunday needed to be lifted up by hand to walk.
We arrived to BEVS with a very sick pup on Monday. Low pulse, cold and hypothermic, hadn’t eaten, and basically couldn’t move.
The doctor saw him right away and immediately said she suspected Addison’s Disease.
They gave me an estimate for work up and treatment, it ended up costing less than the max because they immediately tested for Addison’s and it was consistent in the lab work… So we didn’t have to pay for tons of extra tests.
They were able to stabilize him and kept me updated the entire time. We thought we were going to Lose our guy and they saved him with their prompt diagnosis and immediate treatment!
And above all else, the entire staff was incredibly kind and supportive the entire time. Not one person was rude or short, or annoyed with my multiple check in calls while our Roscoe was in the ICU.
We are so happy with the entire process… Pet Emergencies are pricy, but the care our boy got was absolutely worth every penny.
Thank you all for taking such great care and saving our Roscoe’s life this week!!

I cannot recommend BEVS highly enough. One of our dogs had a serious and rare medical emergency which was initially misidentified. I was able to get in to see a specialist at BEVS within 48 hours of making the first call; that specialist diagnosed my dog correctly and referred her to another specialist, who was able to see her immediately and perform diagnostic testing that day. It was a long, horrible, stressful day, but at the end of it we had clear answers and a holistic treatment plan. She's not fully recovered yet but she's on her way.
The BEVS team has been fantastic every step of the way - they're thoughtful, compassionate, and thorough. They have great communication both between departments and with me, as well as with my dogs' primary care vet. They care deeply about the animals that are brought to them for treatment, and are great about presenting all of the options for care to work within time or budgetary constraints.
I can't speak highly enough of Lyn in the rehabilitation department, who has worked tirelessly to help my dog on the road to recovery. (And as a result, she's getting there!) I've also worked with Dr. Cowan (neurology) and Dr. Brown (rehab), and would recommend both of them without hesitation. Even my late-night experience in the ER was great - the staff communicated with me clearly about the wait times, got definitive answers about what was going on with my pup, and sent me home hours sooner than anticipated with a treatment plan that was communicated to my primary veterinarian the next business day.
No one ever wants to be in a situation where they need an emergency or specialty veterinarian, but if you do, your pet is in great hands at BEVS.

Words cannot describe how thankful I am for BEVS. I called them frantic and in tears when I told them I was on my way with my cat, Nora, at 1 am. From that moment on, BEVS listened to all of my observations and concerns with incredible compassion and urgency. She had to be kept overnight and i was updated with every single test, improvement etc along the way. Immediately following bringing Nora home I had to call a several times with concerns throughout her treatment plan, which were met with detailed explanations to ease my worries. As with an emergency room for a human, it is a very expensive *emergency* care. They repeatedly asked me for consent for every test they did, explained costs of treatment, and go over the bill before you leave. That being said, it expedites the whole process of going a-z and will hopefully help your pet immediately; this to me was priceless. You can tell they genuinely care & treat your animal very well! My cat is back to herself after this terrifying situation, and after a follow-up with her primary we will have a preventative/treatment plan for the future thanks to BEVS' staff's hard work and diligence.

We would like to thank Dr. Weiner, the nurses and staff for the excellent care they provided for our very sick dog, Molly. Their kindness and compassion made a difficult situation easier. Because of them, we have our sweet girl home again! She’s healthy and happy and we couldn’t be more grateful! Thank you all! Scott and Robin Lalonde 🐾🐾

The kindness and compassion shared by Dr. Lummis and the entire staff when we brought Blue in was second to none. They swiftly and economically diagnosed our little man and we can’t begin to thank them enough! Thank you for treating our boy so well!

I called in at 4 am. My dog had a bone lodged somewhere and the receptionist talked me through it. The bone was wedged on the roof of his mouth next to a molar - hard to spot. This consult saved me hours of driving and $$.

I have now had two dogs that I have brought there who were extremely sick. They did whatever they could to make my dogs better and us to feel comfortable enough to leave them there. They were even sending me pictures at night of my dog bo who was just there last week. Thanks to them my dogs are home and healthy. My son was so happy to see his support dog home, they will never know how much I appreciate everything they have done for my dogs, and how much we are so grateful for them.

Compassionate, caring and cleanliness. These are things I look for and are things I received during my emergency visit with Rico. While we did wait a bit I'm sure it had to do with either a. severity of other injuries, b. staffing issues, or c. a combo of both. I know it can be frustrating seeing front desk staff talking amongst themselves (noted in an earlier review) but really, are they trained specialists? They're sweet and welcoming. Everyone here clearly wants the best for your fur baby and anyone that says otherwise can pound sand. I appreciate this place so much!

While I 100% understand the negative reviews on here and myself have had negative experiences associated with BEVS (my dog died in their care in 2017), I have only positive things to say in 2022. My cat just came home after being at BEVS for the second time in 2 months due to urinary blockage. The staff called me super regularly, at all hours of the day to update me on how he was doing. They let my fiancé and me into the ICU immediately to see him, even though we showed up with no advanced notice. They gave me their suggestions for next steps without me feeling like I didn’t have a say. They communicated with our regular vet so I didn’t have to.
Yes, it can be incredibly expensive, but it’s not really their fault they’re the only 24/7 option around here. They are also short-staffed right now, just like a lot of businesses.
Thank you for taking care of and loving on Winston for us! He (unfortunately) loves being there! 😂

I rarely leave reviews, but I always read them.
I have literally avoided seeking care from BEVS in the past because of their reviews.- (we were in the driveway in 2020 waiting, read the reviews & decided to leave and wait 2 days to see our vet)- All because of the terrible reviews….
My animals are my children & I take their wellbeing VERY Seriously… So I felt it was important to share my experience.
Tonight was the first time I had “no other option” + it was recommended by my regular vet, so we went to bevs for an emergency visit with our Nina Beanie.
[Nina Beanie is my 13”ish” yr old rescue pup (shes 10 years with me ), who couldn’t walk or stand when I got home from work tonight. She was lame this am but shes older and was playing in the yard with us this weekend, so i didn’t think too much of her lameness. When I got home from work tonight she was completely immobile!!! If we stood her up, her hind legs would just fold underneath her. She also hadn’t eaten much over the past 24 hours & is normally ravenous. So we called and then drove her to BEVS.]
Our experience tonight at BEVS was FANTASTIC!!!!
From start to finish the staff was compassionate, kind, efficient and thorough. Also it’s important to note, the cost was completely reasonable! I have another rescue pup at home with multiple health issues, who has regularly, over the last 7 years, had multiple visits w/ specialists, emergency vets & surgeries— so my point of reference on vet costs, are both up to date & extensive.
For an emergency visit with bloodwork, ultrasound, labs (both in-house & 3rd party send out) and medication to cost under $800 is COMPLETELY REASONABLE & is far less than I expected the cost to be.
Best of all, we left with some answers, information regarding pending lab results & a gimpy but more mobile girl tonight!
I will recommend them to friends & family. We will not hesitate to use their services again in the future (but hopefully don’t need to anytime soon 🤞🏻).
So A Big Thank You to Stephanie, Kate & Dr. Mallory Sulliven and those whose name I didn’t get, for giving great care to Beanie & for offering 24 hour services in our area!! 🐶💛

Very impressed with their speed and care. They took our dogs symptoms very seriously upon arrival and were great throughout his time there always keeping us updated. Would definitely return if we ever had to.

A huge shout out to BEV for the services that they provided us when our GSD Gunner was hurt, we really appreciated how upfront they were with us from the moment that we called. We understood that we are not the only emergency that happened on this Holiday weekend, but in the end we felt like we were with the great service we received. Our boy is doing great and we just wanted to say thank you to all the staff for the great service that we received. Thank you again, Andrea & Glenn Zambon

We had a very scary event happen to our precious kitty Emmy and BEVS was SO AWESOME! Mercedes, Jen and Dr Letaw, were calm, supportive, and very good at the check in, review of Emmy medically with the Dr explaining everything very well, giving us hope that Emmy would be ok. Jen who did the final check out was so warm, thorough and you could really tell she loved what she did. Emmy is home recovering and I walked out of there with a very big smile. My entire family thanks you all!

This review is based on the representative answering the phone (Claire). I didn't use the services but rather needed a listening ear and a bit of advice. I moved to NY several months ago and my Siamese cat got very sick last night in the middle of the night. I tried to contact her vet here and the office is closed on weekends. I am beyond words that a vet office would be closed weekends. I continued to google locally and soon found being a rural area, this was the case everywhere. My husband is on Hospice and not knowing anyone in this area well enough to sit with him, I could not leave him alone. This was such a difficult decision. However, Clarie compassionately talked with me and reassured me I was doing everything I could to keep Precious comfortable. It appeared she was having a diabetic seizure. Thank you Clarie for keeping me calm as I saw her to Rainbow Bridge just after talking to you!

We brought our Tutti (1.5 year old cat) here after she was super lethargic and drooling. Turns out she had a fever of 106°. They ran all the tests they needed and kept us very informed while we waited in our vehicle.
She had to be admitted over night but I'm so thankful we brought her when we did and brought her to BEVS ❤️
After picking her up today she was almost back to her normal self, full of love and ready to cuddle. Completely different from when we brought her in.
We are so thankful we had the opportunity to bring her to a 24 hour emergency veterinary clinic. We appreciate you so much!
Tim Sichel
Both times I’ve had to come here they took great care of my pup, and went over all of the options and pros and cons of each one.

We are very grateful for BEVS. 3 months ago our cat needed emergency surgery. He is doing amazing now. Fast forward to Labor Day and one of our dogs wakes up at 3:30am vomiting and painful. I called ahead knowing that ER services and vets in general are so short staffed and busier than ever.
Our dog was admitted and spent 2 nights. They were great about keeping us up to date on her progress, up to date on our charges, and discussing plans with us. Thank you so much for your attention to detail and care for our pets. I will not hesitate to return or to recommend.

BEVS completely turned the worst day of my life around. My dog was hit by a car right in front of me. I was so distraught and didn't know who to call. My neighbor called Bevs and brought me and my dog there. They got us in immediately and gave my dog the best care. By some miracle he had no injuries. They were very upfront about the costs so there were no surprises when we checked out. Everyone was super friendly and the care was quick and concise. Even though they were short staffed they got him in, examined, and out within about 4 hours. I called several hours later with some concerns and they were very friendly and got my questions answered quickly. I am so thankful for their quick action and thoughtful care of not only my dog, but their care for me as a distraught fur mom as well.

We would like to thank the staff of BEVS for the outstanding care our dear Bella received during her recent admission to BEVS. From the moment we arrived Bella was treated with care and compassion. We knew from the first call that Bella was receiving the very best. Every staff member conveyed such love for our dear girl. Sadly Bella, despite every reasonable intervention, could not be saved. When it became clear to her Dr.s, We were allowed to spend as much time as we wanted to say our goodbyes. Bella left this world gently, with peace and dignity, surrounded by love. I cannot sing the praises of this place enough. My dog, Oscar, was there for 2.5 weeks and was extremely well cared for. Great communication. As soon the plan changed, they called us with an updated estimate and emailed us a copy. It was not easy for us to leave him at BEVs as our previous dog, Rusty, died there 2 years ago from complications of congenital heart disease. Fortunately, their communication regarding Oscar's stay, kept us at ease. We were extremely happy with how they cared for both our dogs, Oscar as a young dog and Rusty at the end of his life.

I have had to lean on BEV's multiple times over the past three years. The care provided to my cats has always been exceptional. I appreciate the depth of care provided. Yesterday, I had to take my cat Thomas O'Malley in for rescue. He was exceptionally sick, despite physically looking good, I knew something was very wrong. They did their labs and low and behold, found the condition that was hurting my best kitty friend. They gave me everything needed to help him recover. Though O'Malley isn't feeling so hot today, he is doing much better. O'Malley has used up three of his nine lives to date and BEV's has always pulled him through. Extremely grateful for these vet techs and vets. I only wish they were available for regular vet care because in my eyes they are the very best.

Super helpful. My dog stirred up a bunch of ground bees and they helped me determine the correct type of Benadryl and dosage.
Thanks so much. You guys rock!

Absolutely amazing care! I unfortunately had to make an emergency visit after my young dog was hit by a car, the staff at BEVS from beginning to end was so supportive and compassionate. Each step of the process was clearly and respectfully communicated to me, they were able to get my pup right in and took such great care of her. Homecare instructions were both given verbally and sent by email and a report of my dog's incident was already sent to my primary vet by the next morning so I could schedule follow ups! I am beyond impressed and thankful for the care and service that the staff of BEVS provided. Thank you for taking such good care of my babe!

Our 10 week old puppy started getting very sick and our regular vet directed us to BEVS to get the extra care they thought he required. This was in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and so not an easy time already let alone add a sick puppy to it. Our puppy was admitted for a several night stay due to Parvovirus. He was in isolation in the ICU. We couldn’t visit due to COVID and his contagious Parvovirus so I really appreciated the extra time they spent with me on the phone. BEVS answered all my calls (I probably called to much but was so worried about my puppy!) and every time gave me an update even if it was just that he hadn’t had any diarrhea. They had such patience with me answering all my questions. They took such good care of my puppy. The days after our return home they continued to provide support with our transition. I also provide patient care for a living and everyone kept sharing with me their positive experiences with BEVS, but I didn’t take it truly to heart until our own experience. We could not have gotten through this without BEVS! I cannot thank that team enough!!!!

I was referred to BEVS by my dog's primary doctor for oral surgery that had potential complications. Despite not being able to go into the facility with Papi due to the pandemic, I immediately felt comfortable with the team at BEVS. I had originally scheduled Papi's surgery for the end of September, but we had lost a dog to cancer just two days prior, and when the vet tech called to confirm Papi's appointment for the following day, she sensed my hesitation and with so much compassion and understanding, she offered to reschedule the procedure, which we did.
I cannot even begin to convey how much I appreciate Dr. Kellner. From our first phone call, during which he wanted to make sure he was pronouncing Papi's name correctly, to his communications both during the procedure and post-op, I knew Papi was getting the best possible care. Dr. Kellner clearly explained the procedure, offered updates, and gave me the time to discuss my concerns. I never felt rushed, nor did I feel that my worries were being dismissed. Never did I feel like I was just handing my pet over to a stranger; Dr. Kellner's team is amazing, and I'm so grateful for the care each of them offered to Papi. The surgery was a success, and as Papi recovered from having multiple tooth extractions, I quickly realized that Dr. Kellner and his team gave Papi a new chance at a long, happy life. I'm grateful beyond words, and I highly recommend BEVS for your pet's medical needs. Thank you for understanding how much Papi means to me and for treating him as if he were your own pet.a

I had been to regular vet, ortho specialist, neurologist 4 hours away and nobody could figure out what was wrong with my 5 month old puppy. She was in so much pain and clearly suffering. Dr.Cowan was so compassionate and really took the time to explain everything to me. Luna needed an MRI, which was very expensive, but then again, its what you sign up for when you get a pet. They did an amazing job with her, and kept the cost as low as they could and finally got me a diagnosis!!! Luna is recovering now, although it will be a long road, but I appreciate the extra time the Dr took to make sure I was heard and to make sure my puppy was well cared for. Thank you.

Thank you for taking such good care of my cat June for a week! Everyone was very pleasant to work with. Awesome communication, professional, great with my cat and kept me calm. I couldn't be more thankful to have BEVS!!!!!

I’m so grateful for the care that my fur baby received here! She had to be hospitalized for 2 days and I got tons of updates, I was able to call any time and speak with a nurse or doctor to ask questions and check in, and everyone was so sweet and showed such genuine care for my pet and our situation! I’m so happy to have my baby home safe and healthy thanks to BEVS

two of my cats have had medical emergencies. The staff is calming, professional and I know that everything possible will be done to insure my animals comfort and recovery. Thank you, BEVS. Please open a satellite facility in Newport!!!

I brought my cat in with an emergency and everyone was super helpful and calming to be around. I was in a tough state mentally when I arrived, just scared to death, and their staff did an awesome job of working with me and explaining the situation clearly while still in detail. They were a very calming presence to be around and I can’t thank them enough for that.
In terms of care provided to my cat they were consummate. I called on my way in and because I had an emergency they had me skip the reception desk and got my cat help immediately. The diagnosis and care began within minutes, within 30 minutes they had the situation fully under control and already had pricing for the procedure he needed.
Unfortunately it was very expensive, but they were open with me that I may be able to find more affordable care elsewhere and since it was a basic procedure (yet vital) I should call some other vets to get pricing. I was lucky enough to find another overnight vet that would take him for a more affordable price, at this point they ran the checks they needed to make sure my cat was ready to be transferred and helped me transition out.
I can’t commend them enough for the quality of care they provided for my cat and the consideration they showed to me as well. They were open that they are more expensive and did not try to sell me on them but instead openly told me that my cat and I would be fine going somewhere cheaper without risking my cats health any further.
If you ever have an emergency, I strongly recommend them. They provide care immediately on arrival and educate you on what’s happening in a way that anyone can understand. Even if they’re more expensive they don’t hide that fact and instead help with you to work around it to get the care your animal needs at a price you can afford. Every staff member I encountered was supportive and gave me the time and information I needed to properly make a difficult decision.

We could not be more grateful for the support we received from BEVS staff when we had to bring in our dog Bodhi. He received the best care, they provided us with constant contact throughout the night, and made our options very clear during his stay. They showed incredible compassion when we had to make one of the most difficult decisions of our lives. Thank you to everyone at BEVS for what you do.

While we were on vacation, our senior yorkie became lethargic and very ill. The vets at Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists went above and beyond to make our dog comfortable. They were timely, informative, and thorough when assessing our dogs health's issues. They were genuinely concerned and even called to check up on her after we returned home. We are very grateful for the care they gave Lola.

Our 9.5 year old Boxer, Otto, abruptly stopped eating. I took him to his regular vet, who did bloodwork and determined he had an inflamed liver. They sent me home with medication, and said it would cost thousands of dollars to try to narrow down the culprit. On my way home from that visit, Otto started vomiting. This lasted all evening, prompting me to call the on call vet at the same clinic. The on call vet assured me that vomiting is common with an inflamed liver, and that I shouldn’t be concerned...call back in the morning if he isn’t better. He was NOT better in the morning. I was up all night with him vomiting, terrified that he wasn’t going to make it. I called the vet in the morning and took him back in for what ended up being an overnight stay for fluids/meds. He was released the following morning. When the vet called, he said he was, “Doing much better, in great spirits, even ate a little. We did an X-ray of his abdomen and everything looks good. No masses on the liver.” ALL of this was a flat out lie. My daughter picked him up from the vet for me, and immediately called to say I needed to get home ASAP. He could barely stand, his breathing was ragged, and the vomiting continued (even after I gave him anti-nausea medicine my vet prescribed). I was in desperation mode as I knew there was something wrong and my vet was unconcerned. Friends put me in touch with BEVS, who said to bring him in right away. I was blown away when we arrived. The lobby looks like that of a hospital and I was greeted by professional, attentive receptionist . While doing our intake, he noticed how lethargic Otto was and how ragged his breathing was. He grabbed a radio and called, “triage to the lobby STAT.” I immediately felt relieved that someone was giving my dog the attention I knew he needed. Two techs burst through the doors, grabbed a gurney, and shuttled him off for stabilization and an immediate consultation. Within 20 minutes I was meeting with Dr. Sullivan, who already had images of his liver pulled up on her screen. Unfortunately, the news was horrible and my regular vet was terribly mistaken. Otto’s liver had a huge cancerous mass on it. Dr. Sullivan walked me through his images, even pulling an image from a healthy patient for me to see the differences. How my vet missed this is beyond me! I was presented with 2 bleak options: euthanize him or begin aggressive chemo. I could barely process what I was hearing. The doctor left the room to give me privacy to call my family and discuss the options, telling me to take all the time I needed. While I was not ready to part ways with my boy, I also know the prognosis for liver cancer and the way chemo ravages the body. Given the size of his mass, the probability that he wouldn’t survive it, and that chemo would be horrible, I made the painful decision to put him down. While this isn’t the outcome I was hoping for, I cannot say enough good things about the way Otto and I were treated. All I wanted was an honest, accurate assessment of what was going on with my boy - it wasn’t what I’d hoped, but at least I knew what I was up against. We were given all the time I wanted to say goodbye. A grief counselor (Theresa) visited me several times to make sure I was okay. Dr. Sullivan got down on the floor with us to administer the injections, scratched his ears, kissed the top of his head, and talked with him through the whole process. My dog and I were shown so much compassion and patience by people we had never even met! Otto was placed in a beautiful box and sent home with me to bury. Four days later I received a voicemail from Theresa, checking in to see how our family is doing. I lost my Mom 2 years ago, and I can tell you I didn’t receive this level of care from a human hospital! To the staff at BEVS, I thank you with all of my heart for finally giving me answers, and for sending my best friend off with dignity. <3. Amy DuBois

On Memorial Day weekend, my golden retriever was injured. It wasn’t an emergency but it was urgent to be able to prevent an infection from developing. We had to wait 4+ hours for a simple diagnosis and treatment. However, it was a holiday weekend, during a pandemic and the longer wait meant that my dog was one of the healthier ones. I am so grateful for that wait time. BEVS provides excellent care for our furry family members and that is priceless. Thank you !

We brought our cat there at 5:00pm on Christmas night super nervous about what was to come. Even with their COVID precautions we felt comfortable and confident in the staff without even stepping foot in the building. They took him off of our hands right away and within 45 minutes we were on the phone with the vet with a diagnosis. After 2 nights of overnight care we were able to take him home with plenty of aftercare instructions. I can’t say how thankful we are to have our little man home and happy. Thank you to the bevs staff for taking care of our especially feisty cat, Casper, and making us feel comfortable with updates whenever we needed them. You guys are the best!

The Employees here are Fantastic. They take care of your fur babies. The best experiences I've had here. Very caring. Let you know how much it will be. Called us to give us updates and send text messages. Couldn't always answer the phone.

The level of service my dog received was great. However the the amount it costs for him to stay there and just be on fluids and one medication was absurd. The prices are ridiculous. I understand that it’s an emergency vet clinic and a lot of the people they serve are after hours or on weekends. But, to have to choose between life and death for your animals because you can’t just drop $3000 on the spot is absolutely ridiculous. The prices need to be lowered or at least have a payment plan in place. My Dog had her spleen removed at an emergency Vet in Chicago a few years ago and it was $1400. My dog stays the night at Bevs and it’s 1500. C’mon that’s crazy.

Had a fantastic experience here. Vet Techs were friendly and compassionate, and the Veterinarian was very good as well. They took good care of my cat and she is now back to normal. Price was reasonable. You have to realize emergency animal hospitals charge a little extra as they are 24/7. Their patients health are in their best interest.

The care of my animals has always been fine and I have had no major practice concerns. I have also never walked out with less than a $250 bill.
The new procedures with COVID meant that I spent over 6 hours sitting in the parking lot running my car to keep warm. They refused to put me in the board until I was physically in the parking lot, even though it was over 2 hours between when I arrived and when they called me for triage. They kept my pet inside for over an hour before they called me with an update, and then told me it would be at least another 2 hours to treat my pet, before offering to have me drive home and back (a 90 minute round trip, so not worth the gas). It went from a parking lot full of cars to a trickle, and then I was almost alone with the porta-potties in the lot.
Being the only game in town on weekends, I don't understand the staffing and wait situation here.

The care at BEVS is very good and the vets did the best they could for our dog, Danny. However, my advice to other pet owners is to use your intuition before making any decisions. Danny’s kidneys were not functioning and the vets were not certain why. None of the tests came back positive. He stayed in ICU for several days and was not improving. We were told that he was suffering and that we should consider euthanasia. We agreed, but asked to spend an hour with him outside first. During that time with him alone, I felt strongly in my gut that he had a better chance of recovering at home. We took him home and continued giving him antibiotics just in case there was infection. Within 4 days he started improving and within two weeks he was back to normal. That was October of last year and he is doing perfectly. Trust your gut!!

I was sent here by my Veterinary who missed what was found in less than 15 mins by you guys. My very sick cat that I missed obvious signs of his illness which could have saved his life so did my home Veterinary. I feel in my heart they did everything they could for Smokey and wish we could have saved him and came sooner as that could have made the difference. The vet who took care of my baby did not waste time to help him, I know COVID changes many things I wish I was able to hold him one last time. Thank you guys for all you do!

Helped my cat pass peacefully and calmly. Never rushed me giving me all the time I needed. A truly kind and compassionate team. Thank you for helping Dinomite pass the way she would of wanted to.

At the beginning of October, our dog started limping badly and his shoulder started swelling up. Our primary vet advised it was most likely a sprain and sent us home with meds to manage the pain. After a week or two of no signs of improvement, she took him in for an ultrasound, and advised that things weren't looking good. We were referred to BEVS internal medicine.
Phil had a CT scan less than a week later. I worked closely with Dr. Harnett and have to say his bedside manner throughout the process of the CT scan and ultimate osteosarcoma diagnosis was awesome. He made us feel so reassured in our decision to amputate Phil's forelimb and answered every question my worried brain could muster. BEVS had us ready for surgery days later.
The surgery went flawlessly and BEVS staff was accommodating in every way. From the receptionist who warmly answered my incessant calls, to internal medicine, to surgery, to physical therapy. I literally have zero complaints.
Pet care comes with cost. It costs money to save lives and I feel like the BEVS staff went above and beyond to make my dog, and my family, feel safe and comfortable during a highly stressful time. They earned every penny.
The best part of the experience was hearing the staff gush over Phil. As a proud dog mom, I love knowing those caring for my baby are loving him as much as I do.
We have relied of BEVS for Phil's care several times throughout his 10 years and we will continue to see them for years to come/future pets. They haven't let us down yet!

My little Malshi mix, a rescue from Korea when I was stationed there, is the love of my life. She came from a horrible place, abandoned and was almost picked up for dog meat. She lived in squalid conditions (a pig farm with no heating and human interaction once a week, weather permitting). Despite her awful beginnings, she is the sweetest little girl.
One morning, she had the most horrible breath (smelt like rotten flesh) and would not eat nor drink. I took her to our vet and they administered pain killers and antibiotics for a horrendous infection. 5 days later, she looked worse and on death's door...she couldn't lift her head and she pleaded with me with those big brown eyes. I rushed her to BEV, a 2 hour drive for me, and we arrived close to midnight.
When I got home around 3 am, there was a message from BEV letting me know what protocol she will be on. Come Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, I got constant updates from the vets on call, in particular Dr. Bryan Harnett, who was AWESOME. I was always updated and never ignored.
Millie is now home and has a long ways to go. We have yet to know what caused her such pain and discomfort, but she has a light in her eyes telling me she is on the road to recovery.
I can't thank BEV enough for the consistent updates and their calm demeanor explaining things to me. I really appreciate everything they have done.

We had to bring our cat to be put to sleep in the very early hours of the morning. We found the staff to be very considerate and caring. They talked us clearly through what to expect and gave us all of the time we needed to say goodbye.
We were able to stay with our cat through every stage of the procedure, so we were able to see the high level of care afforded to our cat in his final moments.
While we wish we hadn't had to be there under these circumstances, we are extremely happy and appreciative of the care they provided and the understanding they showed at such a difficult time.
