We had to bring in our dog Moxie this weekend when we noticed she had rapid labored breathing. From the moment we walked in, we felt immediately at ease and knew we were in good hands. We are SO grateful to Dr. Roy and the staff at VEG for taking such great care of her. Everyone we met there was so kind and caring. Dr. Roy and Laura both have Great Danes which helped us feel more comfortable, and while we were waiting Dr. Roy brought over a dog bed and blanket for Moxie to lay on and get comfy while we waited for her blood work and X-rays. They even gave her a little room with a baby gate overnight so she could relax and be her most comfortable. We felt well informed the whole time and that we were seen quickly and efficiently. Everyone seemed to care so much about Moxie and all the other patients. We loved their open setup that allowed us to stay with Moxie as long as we wanted. The records and information they provided were so thorough. We can't say enough good things about Dr. Roy, the whole staff, and VEG and will be recommending to all our friends with pets. Thank you so much for taking such great care of our girl!

VEG is the best. Full stop. This is where I will always be bringing my pets going forward. We brought in our 2 cats for lily poisoning (which is extremely bad and can easily be fatal). The entire team was capable, knowledgeable and efficient, yet also calm and warm. Even in emergencies. We felt extremely confident they were giving our cats the best care — and we are so grateful for that. Wait times were better than any vet emergency in Boston by a matter of hours. They were the only place who gave clear (and accurate) treatment cost quotes, and from what I can tell they have extremely competitive (good) rates. Their operations were also very efficient; the line item quote once we had a treatment plan, the consent form, billing, everything was easy and fast, and let us focus on caring for our fur babies. Both cats are back home and healthy as ever!! ❤️ THANK YOU VEG!!

VEG was incredible. My pup Doug and I came in with a very scary emergency (my dog ate human medication) and VEG staff were quick to help, gave my dog incredible care, and kept me updated the whole time. I am not in Boston full time so had to find an emergency vet immediately. VEG was quick to get my info so that they could begin treating Doug as soon as we arrived. Every staff member we interacted with was kind and knowledgeable. They went above and beyond with Doug’s care (who is scared of vets anyway) and to take care of me too. They gave me and Doug some blankets so we could cuddle up together as we waited out his treatment regimen. They literally saved my fur baby’s life and I am forever grateful. I couldn’t have asked for a better care team and highly recommend their services. Thank you VEG! (Edited to add more info and pics)

We had a fantastic experience at VEG! Our dog was bit by another dog at playgroup and needed medical attention. Our vet and most of the other area hospitals could not take us but we were referred to VEG. It's right in Boston and although it's small, the staff was so gracious and caring. We got in right away and the best part in my opinion is that they you let stay with your pet the whole time. I got to sit in the back area where the technicians and doctor examined and treated my dog. I was able to help by holding him and keeping him calm while they gave him medication and helped clean his wound. Even during sedation, I was able to be next to him and when they stitched his wound they offered to bring me to the table and watch. Everyone was so kind and caring to not just my dog but me too! You can see everything they do and it's very impressive! Would go back in a heart beat but hopefully never have to!

This team is incredible. The staff is kind and very intelligent. They gave so much care to my 5 month old puppy and you could really tell how passionate and dedicated they were to be helping animals. I looked up an emergency Vet and I found VEG and I absolutely loved the experienced. They treated my baby girl so good. VEG was incredible when I came in with my fur baby, Luna, after a dog bit. They were not only wonderful with Luna they were so kind and supportive of me, I was very upset. Luna LOVED them. She sat on their laps and was so good, everyone said hi to her and made sure we were comfortable. They explained everything clearly and treated us quickly. I would 100 percent recommend VEG. Also, worth mentioning the cost was reasonable and what I would expect.

I had an amazing experience with VEG. Everyone I interacted with was very professional and friendly. They handled my cat gently and with a lot of care, which really helped since he was terrified. Dr. Mader listened to everything I had to say about his issues and clearly outlined what next steps we could take and the reasoning behind the plan. I was given a clear outline of the pricing and felt it was very good for all of the testing done and medication prescribed. I was very worried about my cat and called back later that night with a question, and again the following day. No one made me feel like a nuisance and was very eager to listen and help out. They even knew I was talking about my cat, Finley, once I briefly stated the issue going on. I went back again and they discussed my options moving forward. The financial toll was definitely taken into consideration without hindering the level and effectiveness of care. I had an amazing experience and would recommend going here.

VEG on Stuart St. in Boston took absolutely amazing care of dog Rusty when he ruptured a disc in his back. I was in and out in just over an hour, including x-rays, medication and great instructions on how to care for him. I was able to communicate easily with the vet via text. In addition, all of their discharge materials, invoices and x-ray records were all very easy to read. I highly recommend VEG if you've got a pet emergency. Rusty is thankful feeling MUCH better. ♥️

All of the nurses and doctors were extremely patient and kind. They gave me options without pressuring me to choose a particular one or being judgmental about what I chose. I liked that here I was able to be with my dog the entire time, whereas with other clinics you have to wait anxiously in another room separate from your dog. I could see everything that was happening and be there to comfort my very anxious dog. Just wish the emergency fee wasn’t so steep, but I understand. Great experience, definitely bringing my dog here for any future emergencies.

5 stars!!! ⭐️ I am so grateful for VEG. Every time I have been they are incredibly kind and never push you to do anything you don't want to. The environment is clean and open. The staff is top notch so shoutout to Dr. Stevie for going above and beyond and even calling my pet insurance on my behalf to get pre-approval. Assistants Lina and Marcus were super fun and their love for my dog made me feel at ease. He got so many cuddles and hugs from the team. They didn't want him to leave! Techs Sarah and Tara kept me in the loop with text updates with this adorable photo. While I hope to not have to go again, with my dogs track record I am sure we will be back for visits. Thank you!!!!

The veterinary emergency group took great care of Tina, my 18 yr old cat. We went in on new year eve at 10:30. They took us right away and while we waited for test results to come back, I had the opportunity to take in all the doctors and assistance working with other animals and their owners. They treated everyone professionally but more importantly they treated all the pets like they were their own. To me that's the most important thing, especially when going to an emergency animal hospital. We spent NYE brining in 2022 in an animal hospital and thankfully Tina is doing great!!

The team at VEG were extremely professional and kind. My kitten Daisy, recently had an eye infection, and Dr Troy and the rest of the staff took amazing care of her. Since Daisy is the first pet I personally own, and isn’t a family pet, I was so worried and anxious about her condition. The staff at VEG was incredible, we came after all veterinarian offices were closed and everyone was so sweet to Daisy! Everyone from the woman working up front to the nurses and Dr Troy were extremely professional and caring. I can’t recommend using VEG when you’re in a pinch! I’d compliment the rest of the staff by name, but unfortunately I didn’t get anyone else’s names! The location was in a beautiful part of town, the facility was clean and state of the art. I was extremely satisfied with the way they handled my Daisy!

My six month old beautiful tuxedo boy gizmo got into some dental floss and needed to be seen right away. The staff was so helpful and comforting not only to my kitty but to me as well. I cannot stress enough how great this place is and I really encourage anyone who has an urgent situation to come here because they will help you. My cats mean so much to me they are my best friends and emotional support animals. If I lost gizmo it would totally devastate me after losing my other two girls since Covid. Thank you so much VEG!! 😻

I came in at 6am when my dog was vomiting blood. The technician immediately explained their doctor was currently in surgery and let me know the wait time, which I greatly appreciated. Everyone was professional, nice, and thorough which I especially appreciated because I know it was the end of their shifts. They gave me a very reasonable plan of action, worked well with my dog who was feeling sick and scared, and the technicians were excellent.

We came here after our primary vet was dismissive of our cats symptoms and he was not doing so good. The entire team was extremely kind and personable, and the environment was relaxed and comfortable. They were as thorough as possible and promptly figured out what was wrong, and now it’s like our little guy has a new lease on life. Thank you for everything!

Can’t say enough good things about the quality of care, service and overall experience we had taking our dog to VEG. Unfortunately our dog got herself into some mischief and a bottle of Rimadyl and required a 48-hour stay. Throughout the whole process we were kept in constant communication, provided updates and even allowed to come visit and feed her as she tends to be fearful and shy. We can’t thank Dr. Cabral, Dr. Abell and the entire staff there for their professionalism, compassion and care for our pet. She’s been doing well since and is now back to enjoying her walks on the beach. We would highly recommend VEG for their quality of care.

VEG is by far the place to take your pet if they are having an emergency! I took my pup Bayleigh in to the Boston location when she was limping. Dr. Gephard and Dr. Mader diagnosed her quickly with a torn ligament, had her get X-rays, and send her home on pain medication! For a ER visit, it was quick and easy and I left knowing all the information on next steps for surgery. The entire staff is A+, compassionate and so friendly! I highly recommend the Boston location if you ever find you are having an emergency with your pet.

Boston VEG helped us in an emergency situation with our newly adopted kitten, Chai...we only had her for less than a week when she suddenly stopped playing, eating and drinking. After 24 hours if this, a Saturday morning, we knew she needed a vet. My vet was closed, so we called around to several emergency vet hospitals, Bulger, Angel etc, all either could not see her at all or had a wait of 8 hours or more, no guarantees of being seen. All due to the increase in pet ownership during Covid and not enough trained vetinary providers. Boston VEG told us to come right in. She was on a table being examined within minutes of arrival. After an exam and bloodwork, we had a preliminary dx of Panleukopenia, which very high mortality rate for kittens. Our rescue organization offered to take back our kitten and take over her care herself, but I was reluctant to hand her back over with such a serious diagnosis. The rescue org was skeptical it was panluek, but the Vets exp. with this bloodwork and other symptoms, panluek is the most likely dx. (A pcr test which took 5 days to result confirmed the dx.) So, trusting the vets at VEG, their advice for our very sick, weak kitten was to have hospital supportive care, iv hydration, prophylactic antibiotics to fight off any secondary infections. Being inexperienced with this, the IV fluids especially, we agreed it best she stay overnight at VEG for this care. The disease is highly contagious, which required isolation treatment. All not cheap, very expensive in fact, especially when she needed almost 3 days/60 hours of care like this. So Yikes. But I couldn't imagine doing otherwise, and I'm so very grateful for the wonderful care the VEG doctors, technicians and other staff provided. Oh and did I mention this was at the beginning of a family vacation with extended family in NH? All around very stressful times for us and our kids. The care and updates the VEG staff provided every day was amazing. Chai took some time after discharge to fully recover, she wasnt eating or drinking well, so we had to bring her back in a few days after for a subcutaneous fluid injection, anti nausea, & appetite stimulant medication...all which were provided without exam fees etc. Just the charges for the medication and fluids. It's now almost a month since she fell ill, snd shes doing great. Chai is a very bright, frisky, gorgeous little kitten, we are so grateful that she's made a full recovery, thank you Boston VEG! Side note: our rescue organization did reimburse us for about 25% of what we had to pay for this emergency hospitalization of the kitten they adopted to us. She gave us the amount she would have been out of pocket for the similar care she would have provided at her home. I think this is fair. In hindsight, we could have relinquished Chai back to her, she may or may not have recovered, and we would have saved alot of money. But, in the moment, I felt more confident and trusting of the vets at VEG, they knew exactly what kind of treatment she would need for Chai to have a chance of survival. We were starting a one week family vacation and we wanted peace of mind that her care could start immediately, returning the kitten to the rescue in another state in the opposite direction of NH would have been very challenging. Pet ownership certainly is not for the faint-hearted!

Our experience at VEG Boston was amazing! Our 9 month old French Bulldog Olivia had a pretty major intestinal blockage and the Vets and Vet Techs took care of her as if she were their own. They were so compassionate toward myself and my husband, knowing how scared we were about her having surgery especially being a French Bulldog, who don’t always do very well under anesthesia. She thankfully came through it all very well and we can’t thank Dr. Megan Roy enough for the incredible job that she did and also the fact that she let us be with Olivia every step of the way including watching the surgery. The entire staff was so friendly, caring & helpful. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend VEG to anyone & everyone! We would never go anywhere else in an emergency situation. Thank you all❤️

I can't give enough praise and thanks to the entire staff at VEG Back Bay for the care and compassion they gave my pup Gracie (and me) during her illness and emergency surgery. They allowed me to be with her during the entire terrifying experience, making me a part of her care team and keeping me up to date at every turn. Everyone from the Docs, nurses and techs were tremendous with their attention, empathy and top-notch care. They saved Gracie's life and I will be forever grateful. If anyone is unfortunate enough to need an ED I highly recommend VEG Back Bay Boston.

Last weekend, we woke up to find our dog Bandit's muzzle was swollen. The next day it only got worse. I was SO nervous about bringing him in to see a vet because he can get extremely aggressive (he was abused for several years)--in the past, vets have turned him away because they were unable to give him care. But this was an emergency and I couldn't avoid trying to get someone to see him. I crossed my fingers and brought him to VEG. I immediately knew we had brought him to the right place. The first vet tech we saw asked right away if he got aggressive with people touching his face. After he started barking and getting tense, they advised me they would need to sedate him to take a look at his face. They were so gentle and understanding when he barked like crazy and tried to get away while they were administering the shot. Turns out, Bandit had a 1/4 inch gash on his snout! We had no idea how it got there. But the vet cleaned the wound very thoroughly, checked it for signs of infection and allergic reactions, looked at his teeth to double-check it wasn't a dental problem, and sent us on our way with antibiotics and anti-anxiety meds for the next time we need to bring him in to see a vet. I left so relieved, not just because Bandit was doing better, but because he actually got thorough care from staff who treated him with patience, care, and empathy. I highly recommend VEG to people who are concerned about bringing their problem pets to the vet.

Our 12 week puppy was stung by a bee at the boston common and within 30 minutes VEG was able to see us and pull the stinger from our young pups paws! Dr. and staff also provided some medication to help with the pain. They were very thorough. On top of all this the price was extremely reasonable. 10/10 stars!

I’ve interacted with this place twice for my rat and both times they’ve been amazing. The first time I was a little cautious because most places don’t know how to deal with rats/exotics/small animals, but they were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The wait time was <5 minutes and we got to go in the back where they actually examine the animals. The people are so kind, they brought us to a separate room so my rat wouldn’t be stressed out by the dogs or cats— just shows how much they consider the comfort of each patient. The vet was very friendly but Rowan the vet tech was the real rockstar. If you’re bringing an exotic pet here ask for Rowan. The second time I interacted with them I didn’t end up visiting, but a vet talked with me over the phone about my rat’s problems, for free! Just goes to show how caring this staff is. If you’re in the Boston area and can’t get to your normal vet, go here!! No matter what type of animal you have.

Dr. D’Addezio and everyone at VEG took amazing care for me and my cat, Momo. Through a very stressful situation, she was able to explain all the options and find the best plan to take care of us. Everyone was so kind and helped to make me feel comfortable. It is clear they love animals and want to take the best care for them and their owners. We had a fantastic experience at VEG. We brought in our kitty after he threw up blood, and the staff was incredibly quick and attentive to us the moment we walked in the door. Dr. Flash and Erin were so helpful and compassionate to us and our kitty. It is obvious they really care for every animal as if it were their own. They were very up front about the price and how much the bill would be. We were given written instructions on how to care for our kitty in the future and how to use his medication. The whole staff was so sweet to us and our kitty, even though our kitty was not being very polite. 10/10 I would recommend going to VEG if you ever need emergency vet service.

Brought our dog in following a seizure. The staff was amazing from the receptionist at check in to the vet techs to the doctor. Our dog was cared for as if he was their own, they were fast, and so thorough. They spent the time making sure our questions were all answered and they explained everything. We could not have been more satisfied with the care our sweet boy received. I would recommend this emergency vet with 10 stars if I could.

A truly exceptional staff of caring providers. Wait time is minimal, care is delivered expertly, and they take time to follow up even over the weekend. VEG has taken care of my dog on several emergency visits, they are earnest and thorough and make stressful visits as easy as possible. Most recently Dr. Quinlan saw my dog for a possible bladder infection and followed up with me over the holiday weekend. Highly recommend.

Brought in my dog for what turned out to be strong symptoms of kennel cough. The staff at VEG proved to be very responsive, caring, professional and friendly all along our visit. Every decision and procedure was well explained making me confident in the care my dog received. Blood work was done on site so rapid turn over and imaging was processed through an external company but was quick as well. I had the feeling that the best possible care was being provided without overprescribing with unnecessary procedures or medication. Would recommend and go back to VEG if needed!

They discussed all options with us and were even willing to coordinate follow up information with our local vet. Such a wonderful team! The clinic is beautiful and very pet and human friendly and very very inclusive of all kinds humans and pets. The doctors, nurses and staff is wonderful! They took time to learn about our needs and to let my dog become comfortable with the doctor. I only waited for 5 min believe it or not! But was Friday afternoon during a rainy day so who knows. Anyway, if you ever need an emergency vet I highly recommend it!

I woke up one morning and saw my cat, Haku eye was swollen and immediately rushed her to the emergency vet group clinic. They took us in with no hesitation and immediately began to assess her eye. The staff was extremely friendly and professional, I enjoyed the visit. It’s been a couple days since then and the Medicean they prescribed Haku has cleared up the issue entirely! I recommend this clinic to anyone who’s pet need immediate treatment.

Have been here a couple of times now. Each time the staff were prompt to attend to my dog and kept me informed. Everyone was very kind and took very good care of my dog. I also really like the layout of the place. It's open concept and you can see everything. You can see the patient board and what the staff and physicians are doing. The transparency is nice, because you know what's up and what is happening to your pet. Having been to other vet ED's that don't have that, I realized how anxiety-relieving it is to have the transparency that VEG has. The VEG also lets you stay with your pet throughout, so I always knew how my pup was doing. Also really nice, especially if you're worried, as it helps to alleviate some of the worry. The vets did only those tests that were essential, to minimize cost, and explained every procedure and asked for consent for everything. The staff also were able to direct me to the specialists that I needed to follow up with after the visit. I hope I don't have to come back again lol, but should the pup get injured again, VEG is my top choice for Vet ED.

I brought my fluffball kittie to the ER early am. Bleu was receiving end of life care at home after a brief illness. I new the end was imminent and because it was early morning I know she needed immediate attention. After calling to say I was coming and her history I was greeted promptly at the the door. The team was right with her assessing her and preparing her for the doctor’s exam. Both the team and I know this was going to be the end for my baby. After assessing my kittie Dr Roy reviewed the case with me and we both agreed that it was Bleu’s time to go. She slipped away peacefully in the staffs loving arms. I was so glateful I wasn’t alone when this happened. The care and compassion of the team was superb. They all love what they do and I saw it first hand. Rest in peace Bleu. Amazing place - knowledgeable, caring and friendly staff. The ability to stay with my pup while in distress was such a comfort for her and me. They needed to keep my Golden overnight and I was surprised when I was able to stay with her. They were so accommodating by setting up a room with beds, blankets and pillows, they even offered me food. In the past when I took my older (now passed) pup for critical care, I would wait hours worrying about what was happening. I wish I knew VEG was here when Izzy was still alive - I highly recommend VEG as a first choice to anyone with a fur baby.

We had a scare with our dog Emma and the team had VEG was absolutely amazing . Every member was so caring and compassionate. They got Emma in right away and constantly updated us. Dr. Nicole D’Addezio constantly kept us updated and truly is an amazing doctor. The care does does not stop when you leave . Alyssa from the VEG check up on Emma a few days later . I wish I had all the staff members names because they all deserve praise. My husband and I were so scared and this team kept our minds at ease and took wonderful care of our Dog. Emmy is back to herself hanging out in her favorite chair outside. Thank you to the entire team at VEG!

19 July 2022 I was able to get my sweet kitty baby in today on little notice. The team is caring and gentle with genuine love for fur babies. Be patient, they are an emergency room after all and triage helps their team give the best for all fur babies. Their office is 24/7, pet and people friendly, and very easily accessed. I was sent here by my regular vet office after a concerning situation and being booked out for a month. I'm so very grateful my baby received care today before his situation became worse.

If you’re thinking about bringing your pet here for ANYTHING… please do! You won’t regret it. Not only are all the people that work compassionate and patient, they make you feel very comfortable and safe during rough times. My dog had a procedure done on him a few weeks ago, everything was fine and he recovered amazingly. This ER will text you even after you’re done with your visit to check in on you and your pet. This is now my First stop for any emergency!

I had an emergency at 10 pm with my pet, searched google for some emergency vets, and found VEG. Thankfully they accepted CareCredit and take in exotics and small pets. I quickly made my way to their Boston location which is easily accessible with only a few minute's walk from Back Bay Station. Having my partner call ahead they were prepared to check me in using my phone number. They sent me the check-in via text making it such an efficient and quick way to get all the information they needed from me. They checked my pet's vitals and then it was a wait. Though a long wait my pet was stable so I was ok with it. The staff was friendly and thorough the whole way and provided all the options I could take for my pet's treatment. I left him overnight and he was as good as new the next day. I’m glad I found them. Thank you again VEG!

In mid June We took my Beagle Ginger to Vererinary Emergency Group, at 3 am , my dog was in a lot of pain, we were attended immediately. they were very empathetic with us. Dr. Cabral saw my dog and explained very well to us all about her case. Me and my husband are very happy and grateful cause thanks to Dr Cabral and his excellent treatment my Ginger now is well. I seriously can’t say enough about the VEG team! We had a minor emergency in the middle of the night but an emergency nonetheless. Because it wasn’t an immediate life or death situation, we were sent away from another hospital and VEG was recommended. I will now forever go out of my way to come to VEG if I have the ability to do so. Every single person was so sweet. They helped to calm both me and my dog, Jack - and of course to give him the care that he needed even though he was a challenge 😅. Everyone loved on him like he was their own, and I was able to stay with and cuddle him through every single step of the process. The prices were what I’d expect for an ER visit too, definitely reasonable - if you find yourself needing an emergency vet, this is the place to come. Period, end of story. Though I’m sure everyone is incredible, special shout out to the team that took care of Jack: Lu, Zac, Kelly and Dr. Cabral - you were all absolutely amazing and we are so thankful!

I’m very thankful for the staff here, they helped to save my cats life. He suddenly started vomiting frequently and had bloody stool, stopped eating and drinking for over 48 hours, and became very lethargic and unresponsive. The staff was very kind, compassionate, and helpful. They were able to prescribe my cat medication that helped to ease his digestive upset, and I’m happy to say he’s back to his normal self a week later. I also ended up coming here for two consecutive nights. The second night I didn’t have to pay for another office visit, only for the testing done. Very thankful for that policy.

I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to from our recent ER visit. Our dog was in deep distress, and sadly it was sudden and serious enough that he couldn't be saved/healed. Most pet owners have at some point experienced an emergency and if their vet office isn't open not sure the best place to go. I'm so glad our search took us here. They took our dog Cooper immediately and we were allowed to follow him in as they walked us through everything they were doing and why. We were able to talk to our dog, touch him, and help calm him, with him knowing we were right there beside him. Dr Troudt, and Jess, the ER technician, were beyond compassionate. They were incredibly patient in explaining, as well as showing us exactly what happened to our dog. They gave us the time, space, and compassion to help make the right decision for what was best for him. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do in my life and not sure I could have gotten through it without their support. They even gave hugs, they clearly love their job as well as animals. Thank you from the bottom of my (our) heart for everything.

My boy Al needed to see someone urgently when he developed a cough suddenly. It presented as vomiting and wheezing so it caught us off guard. Everyone at VEG was so nice! They get on Al’s level on the floor and it was nice to be able to stay w him in a private room for the exam. He was very comfortable. Payment on phone. And updates and check in by text. I am not alone when I say my dog is a family member and when my boy got sick I was referred to VEG on Stuart St. and after a quick phone call to get an idea of what to do I went to the location with no hesitation. My dog unfortunately had his paw stuck in an escalator, and the doctors at VEG have been taking such good care of him throughout the healing process! His paw pad needed to be completely reconstructed and stitched up, and when his primary vet saw him for a check up, they were blown away by how nicely it’s healing but also by the reconstruction itself. Cannot recommend VEG enough and I’m so grateful for the attention and care we’ve been receiving, and that they don’t get annoyed when I call at midnight with questions that stem from being an overprotective pet parent lol.

I had to take my dog Lily in after she developed a bad infection on her neck after being boarded for a week, and while no one wants to have to bring their pet to an emergency vet it was the best possible experience. All of the staff were very compassionate and provided excellent service, and despite the situation this was probably the most comfortable I have ever seen Lily at the vet. While I hope not to need an emergency vet appointment I can’t imagine going anywhere else, excellent facility and staff!

We took our dog here after she stepped on a piece of glass on a walk and it was embedded in her paw. The check-in process was super quick, and we were able to walk right in and go back to a room. The vet assistant and veterinarian both saw her within five/ten minutes of arriving. Our dog is a nervous nellie, but the whole staff was super patient with her trying to get a needle in to knock her out. Procedure after that was super quick and easy to get the glass out and they even allowed us to be out there with our dog while it was occurring. They wrapped it up and sent her home with an antibiotic and a pain reliever. Check out was even quicker. They even text us and followed up to check in on our dog the next morning. I can't thank this staff enough. Special shout out to Vi, Zach, Dr. Kristen, and two other very kind assistants for being so patient and helpful!

I took my baby boy here overnight because i was very concerned he had been vomiting x12 hours. The staff was so accommodating, kind, professional and efficient. I love the open concept so you can be with your baby the entire time they are getting worked up so they aren’t scared. We tried calling Angell but sat on hold for 15 minutes so called VEG instead. Friendly technician picked up right away and talked us through our dog’s symptoms and suggested we come in. We were the only people there and the team couldn’t have been nicer. They truly go “to the floor” to make you and your pets comfortable. They talked us through all the treatments and gave Myla an IV while we sat on the couch with her. Really a fantastic experience for an emergency vet visit.

My regular vet wasn't able to take my border collie/great pyrenees dog for 3 days to check his eyes for conjuctivitis so I brought him into Boston despite the fact that I live in the suburbs. So glad I did. I was able to fill all information out online first, so when I arrived there was nothing to do but park right out front and head into a room with him. Everyone was welcoming and informative. A nurse checked him first and then the doctor came in. They told me they were an open concept facility so if I wanted to lower the shades I could (so as not to see any harder cases that might come in). They checked his eyes for scratches and then confirmed that he would need an eye salve to help. They even called my regular vet to inform them of what we had diagnosed and would be treating and recommended that I follow up with them in 10 days. I couldn't have been more impressed with the compassion and organization of these folks.

I visited the VEG on 2021.12.12 at the suggestion my my cat’s usual vet (ARL), because they were closing for the day and at the time my my cat had a urinary block and needed urgent care. Check-in - the employee who answered my call was live, always a winning point in today's world of endless voicemail trees (of course, I was very upset about my cat's health, so initially there could have been a voicemail greeting, but I do not remember it). Anyhow, she was calm and knowledgeable. she also suggested that I check-in in advance by way of my phone. I am probably giving away my age, but I had never heard of such a thing. It was a simple, time-saving and brilliant process. Completed in the comfort of home, and when I arrived, the receptionist took me and Gibby right to the doctor's assistant for intake. After Dr. Beckwith examined Gibby, the estimate of services was expedited by way of email. It detailed exactly what Dr. Beckwith described, and I seem to recall all policy-related verbiage and prices were included. Very informative and efficient. My final praise of this business model, is the email I received yesterday (my visit was Saturday, Dec, 11, 2021). This email contained the fact that my vet would be notified of services, a survey request based upon the services I received and a summary of Gibby's services. All the facts I needed, and a small but very important time-saver for me, was not having to email my vet Gibby's paperwork. All-right, I promise one last observation; the amazing 'open-concept' of the clinic's place of work. I am not entirely certain how the staff managed examining other people's pets, as I wove from exam room to the reception room on three different occasions. I was in the exam room for approximately three hours, so I had to re-up the parking meter, use the restroom facilities (clean and well-tended), and at some point got concerned about where I was in the queue, and queried Dr. Beckwith. I received timely succinct answers, and was never made to feel that I was intruding; admittedly I did my best to be non-intrusive and respectful of the VEG staff. There are two reasons I can think of for such an environment, either management has drilled it into the staff, or more likely (and I choose to believe this reason), each and everyone one of the VEG staff, assistants, reception and doctors are dedicated professionals who are passionate about their chosen role. Truly an amazing staff! My dog's stitches were infected so I took her to see them, having never been before and not know what to expect. From the moment I walked in, I was met with a confident and compassionate staff who took the time to hear my concerns. Your pet won’t be taken “out back” and you won’t be left wondering what is happening. My partner and my recent trip to VEG with our puppy Millie was truly one of the best customer experiences we have EVER had. Millie was displaying some concerning gastrointestinal symptoms, and we decided to take her to VEG in the middle of the night out of an abundance of caution. The staff at VEG was simply outstanding. We went in around 10pm last night for some urinary tract issues and from the second we walked into the door, the entire staff was so incredibly kind and communicative. Our beautiful dog Mia, was having some major problems. Deep down in our hearts we knew that she was not coming back home. My mother was the one to take her here after it was recommended by our vet. The way she described how they treated not only our dog but herself as well was outstanding. They were so focused on getting her better and different medications and methods could work to get her in a stable condition. The staff is incredible knowledgeable and you can tell that they absolutely love there job. While spending some time with Mia, I overheard one of the nurses talking about one of the dogs so happy saying 'why don't we try this, I think this would be a great alternative for her case!' We ultimately had to put Mia down in the end which broke us but the respect and the amount of love received from the staff was just overwhelming and something we will cherish and remember. Never once did they pressure use to put her down or really even mention euthanization, they just mentioned treatments and options and let us come to that decision ourselves which is so respectful and they agreed with our decision based on her condition. At the end they send us a detailed email of every test, x-ray, lab result they took of her while she was there! We have been to Angell Memorial Hospital in Boston for another pet before and they damaged our thoughts on the emergency vet care. Thank God this place came and changed our opinion completely. My Opinion and i cant stress it enough if you are looking for a 24 hour vet care GO HERE, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!

We were so lucky to end up at VEG when our dog Hazel was sick. When we arrived the team very quickly examined Hazel, diagnosed her condition and got her settled in to be hospitalized in under an hour. This was so refreshing since we had spent over five hours at a different emergency vet the previous day! Over the course of Hazel’s stay we received regular updates on her condition over text and fast responses when we had questions. The staff made us feel welcome to come visit any time day or night and to stay as long as we wanted. We felt so comfortable leaving Hazel in their care and their kindness really helped us to cope with the stressful situation. If Hazel ever needs emergency care again we won’t hesitate to come back to VEG!!

Several weeks ago i had to take one of my cats here since she was not doing well. While experience was very traumatizing just given how scared I was for my baby and how scary the situation was, every person at this office was always friendly, helpful, and understanding. Next steps were always communicated clearly and they were always open to answering any questions I had. Today another one of my cats was sick and given my experience prior, this is where I brought her. And i was not let down. They always communicate costs so there's no surprises at the end. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone who's pet is not doing well.

We found our way to the VEG after our Cat, Echo Sprite’s GI upsets led to extreme diarrhea and vomiting, he couldn’t keep any food down and we needed him checked out ASAP. The crew on at 1am October 3rd was phenomenal, very caring all while juggling several clients at once. I appreciate how involved they allowed us to be during the exam and blood draw to help keep Echo calm. Echo got a shot to help with his nausea and an anti-inflammatory and probiotic for his gut to tide us over until we could follow up with his regular Vet’s office. I highly recommend the VEG for all of your emergency pet care needs!

Our experience with VEG has been absolutely stellar. Their level of care and professionalism are above and beyond our expectations. We had taken our little guy to Blue Pearl previously, where they had made us repeatedly feel like a burden and like our pet's health was not important to them at all. Not at VEG! I have never experienced such kindness such compassion from a Vet hospital as i did here. I was so scared for my fur baby she is my world, I'm never alone because of her. I have been fighting cancer non stop from chemo to chemo to radiation to chemo again since 2013 , I've had her since 2012. I went to Angel and they were at full capacity and sent us away my Nala couldn't even walk so i had to find a hospital for her to find out what was wrong and get her better. I feel everything happens for a reason. I called and they let us in. They took My baby right away the doctor came within minutes. She sat down on the floor to be close and really see what was wrong with my baby. They let my husband and i stay with her the whole time. It was just amazing such love and genuine care she explained everything to me and gave me an idea of how much it would cost me and work with me on what was most important for my baby. My 11 month old Australian shepherd puppy had her first emergency and like any dog mom, my anxiety was out of control. I had never heard of this animal hospital before this incident and we were turned away from MSPCA angell due to full capacity. I am so happy that I was turned away, because I found VEG and I could not be happier with their care. The care that they provided was exceptional. The staff are incredibly nice, caring, and compassionate; they understand pet owners anxiety and go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. I felt that the doctor was able to see my dog in a timely manner, as well as, spend the necessary amount of time with her that she required. I had a wonderful experience going to VEG yesterday for my cat, Dylan, and highly recommend anyone going here if you're in an emergency with your pet. My usual vet was completely booked and they referred me here. I was seen immediately once I arrived and I was able to be with Dylan as they evaluated her. Katrina and her staff were very calm and took my concerns and questions seriously. When you're in a state of panic, that is really so comforting and it meant a lot to me. They walked me through multiple different options and gave me a broken down cost estimate of every test they suggested to be run and spoke in detail with me about what each of these tests entailed before doing anything. They were respectful when I decided to decline a few and when we agreed upon a treatment plan, Katrina and her staff immediately got started and were so gentle with Dylan. The tests and blood work that they ran all made sense to me and I didn't feel pressure once to make a decision without knowing the details of what the test was, why they were suggesting the test and what the results would tell us. You can tell that the staff here truly cares about animals and I really appreciate the care they gave Dylan and how efficient they were throughout my entire visit. I really hope I will not have to go back again :-) but feel confident that if I need to re-visit in the future, VEG will be where I go without a doubt.

VEG is the best! We had concerns about an ear infection in our 6 month pup and could not get an appointment with our regular vet for a few days. They referred us to VEG and I could not be more pleased with their care of Gotham. I really liked that we could see exactly how our dog was being assessed and the take home instructions were explained clearly for this novice dog mom. I was referred to VEG from MSPCA Angell for an urgent medical situation with my cat Vix. I called from the car and they were able to see us as soon as we arrived. They have a well-equipped operation and were able to do x-rays and bloodwork and get the results during the visit. The vet discussed costs with me ahead of each procedure so there were no surprises. The vet and the techs were all caring, professional, and seemed to genuinely like my cat which always earns extra points with me. Vix is all better now. I'm glad we found VEG!

Dr. Perry and Luke at VEG gave our girl Penny the best care in the world. While other vets wrote off her symptoms as kennel cough, Dr. Perry took the time to really listen to what we said was happening and found an infection on her tonsil that was actually causing the coughing problem. Although I wish I didn't have to come here in the first place, I'm glad that I discovered this wonderful 24/7 emergency vet. I was watching my friend's Boston Terrier, who I love as my own, and he was attacked in my building. A piece of his ear was torn off and was bleeding profusely. I've been to Angell before and they are ridiculously expensive. I've had a good experience at South Shore VCA but I called and they had a several hour wait (as did Angell). Luckily i Googled "Emergency Vet" and VEG came up. I called and they had no wait so I had a neighbor drive me there. The folks here could not have been nicer. They got Rocco fixed up and we were out the door in less than an hour. The price was very reasonable too. The facility is brand new, so very nice and clean. I hope I never have to come back, but if an accident happens again this will be the first place I call.

Our local vet directed us here for an emergency when they didn’t have availability. We were seen immediately (didn’t even sit down in the waiting room), and a vet tech started triaging our dog instantly. The doctor followed shortly after. Our treatment quite literally could not have been faster or smoother, and we were kept informed the entire time. We were also allowed to stay in the exam room the entire time, which other clinics are not allowing.

My dog had been trembling for 50+ hours at this point which was beyond unusual for him. I had been calling all over the Greater Boston area, including his usual vet office and their ER counterpart within the first couple of hours of the tremors (which were minal but still worrisome at this point) but those offices were booked out and were at full capacity. They said to continue monitoring him and if it progresses in the next day then try calling back. Called back once we hit the 24 hour mark, still at full capacity, tremors had slighty elevated. Around the 40 hour mark, things started to really elevate and the tremors almost looked seizure like. I called 3 different Veterinary ERs (big chain) and they were still at capacity, weren't very helpful either. At this point I'm very stressed and a sobbing mess. I did another round on Google and found Veterinary Emergency Group and immediately called them, still a sobbing mess and truly couldn't have been more thankful to the person on the other line, trying to listen to my dog's situation, through my escalating cries. I brought him in, and again, couldn't have been more grateful for the amazing staff for their attention and care. From the moment we walked in, to the constant check in's from the team to making sure he and I were comfortable, their attentiveness, and their care, to when we walked out, my heart was at ease knowing that we were in great hands!

I've had so many bad experiences with vets...for me the decision to come here was it was open and close... and not Angell. {angell i hate for various reasons given multiple past experiences.} this place is 24 hours. but it's pricey {so is angell and most 24 hour places, to be fair}. it's not cheap here but a huge bonus is if your family member has an extended stay here one can visit one's pet 24 hours a day and you can stay with them for hours. and when your beloved furry friend is having stuff done you can be in the room, and even pet them and try to comfort them while it is happening. granted my cat was having only a catheter install, urine draw, blood draw, and BP, but so much better to be there with my cat rather than him disappear into some back room it is expensive, that's the only downside. staff is very friendly and helpful as well.

I never write reviews but i feel compelled to, this place is certainly pricey but the peace of mind that came with bringing my cat home safe and acting like himself was unmatched. the 24 hour service is great and the people answering the phone are skilled at keeping you calm while you spiral imagining the worst. My young cat has been vomiting bile and not eating since Monday, I've brought him in twice with the second time last night, they did a full workup with follow up x rays and Dr Cabral spent almost 10 minutes with me on the phone explaining the plan and what we could do to make him more comfortable. Today, he's eating again and even slept with me which he hasnt done all week! I'm so pleased, if you have an emergency this is a great option.

I ended up at VEG after going to Angell and finding out I was going to be there for hours before even being seen… it’s so hard finding a vet that will see exotic pets in general, never mind quickly. I’m so grateful for ending up at VEG. From the time I walked in, to the time I left the experience was awesome! Staff, vet tech and vet were all so pleasant and saw my little Alphie as soon as we arrived (we lucked out that there was no one ahead of us) We’re in and out in about 2 hrs. Alphie needed an abscess drained then needed antibiotics/pain meds to heal. The staff pre measured his meds for 14 days (38 syringes!!!) I’ve never had a hospital take the extra time to do that. It’s stressful enough when you have a sick animal but the staff at VEG are awesome and I’m so grateful for their professionalism and quality care!! Alphie says “wheek, wheeeeek, wheeeek” which is guinea pig for “thank you for taking such great care of me” 😄

Waking up at 5am to find 10+ small piles of foamy vomit in the living room was abnormal and alarming for my cat. I called and they said to bring him right in. Due to COVID, I couldn’t go inside, but they’re on the first floor and they did most of the exam right in front of the window so I could see what was happening. They were gentle and there were so many staff members attending to him, so while someone was examining him, there was always someone giving him scritches to help soothe him too. They communicated everything by calling me on my phone while I was outside. They explained everything, including actual costs of care BEFORE doing anything which was so easy to approve via the link sent to me. I was in and out so fast with my baby. They sent me home with meds for him and Dr Gabree sent a follow up text the next day to share the results of labs that had been done and to make sure he was recovering well. I only wish I could find a primary care vet as thorough, attentive to detail and compassionate as Dr Gabree! Really made me feel like she was treating my cat as her own!

I brought in my cat Hagrid because I thought he had a UTI. They took him right away. They were SO GOOD with him. I had bad experiences before, but this place is amazing. They really care about your pets. I would recommend them to anyone. Amazing!!

We brought our pup there after having seizures as soon as we pulled up they came right out to get him and brought him right in the back and set up all types of meds in case he was going to have another one.they continued to check on him at one time there was three of them working on him he had to stay the night and we got a phone call telling us of his progress. Also once he was home we received a txt message checking up on him. We also had to call with a question and you talk directly with the vet and not a tech this is my new emergency vet place to go to for now on they are great I’d give them 10 stars if I could

My cat of 13 years suddenly had extremely labored breathing, something I could compare by the sight of an extreme asthma attack. After staying up all night watching him I began to research ER's to take him too. I found VER during that search and called. The team was responsive and kind. I was sent a link to pre-register Jax so that I could buzz in and drop him off ASAP. The team there went above and beyond expectation! Like any ER visit it can be pricey but I have to tell you this team went above and beyond to help me ensure Jax got the right care to come home safe without making finances their priority, the priority was Jax and it showed. Dr. Gabree was so kind over the phone walking me through everything and assuring me if I wanted to call every ten minutes it was fine (and I did). She was comforting to me and my cat sending photos to ensure he was comfortable in the O2 tank. Dr. Cabral took over for the O/N and was equally as kind and informative. He was patient with my questions and walked me through next steps. Finally, Dr. Abell saw Jax on the tail end of his visit. She was kind, patient and explained everything I needed to know about meds, what to watch for, next steps and what to do in case of another emergency. Holly the vet tech was very helpful as well when checking out. At no point did I feel I would need to sacrifice Jax health due to finances and was never worried he was not in good hands. I know this is a long review but I can not say enough wonderful things about this team. Highly recommend if you have an emergency. Thank you VER Team!!!!

My pet was feeling pain and discomfort all day decided to bring my pet to this emergency clinic late at night for our first time visit honestly I was impressed great customer service and amazing treatment to all pets, prices are reasonable and there’s a two hour wait time which is totally worth it. I do recommend you call before going in to fill out a sign in sheet while in route to the clinic visit they accept walk ins only the staff is amazing at what they do & super friendly no surprise fees either they’ll show you your balance for deposit up front before starting anything and have you sign a consent form as well very professional all staff we’re great I am very happy with it all my dog is now recovering I recommend this clinic for sure before choosing to go anywhere else.

I brought my week old puppy because she wasn’t eating as she should, pooping as she should, and abnormal breathing. As soon as I walked in I was welcomed with open arms by Assistants VI, Ethan, Extern Kennedy, Dr.Cabral and Nurse Kelley. My puppy was laid right onto the bed to get an ultrasound, helped her with oxygen, she was diagnosed and was given a dose of antibiotics. My experience was phenomenal. I was informed every step of the way. This is definitely my new go to VET ER.
