We had to put our sweet dog down. It was Saturday morning and we did not have an appointment. They were wonderful, kind and accommodating from the beginning. Sorry, I don't remember any names. The lady at the desk assured me they could help and would get us seen ASAP. She wasn't kidding and before we knew it we were taken to a nice room with a couch and some blankets on the ground. It felt more like a room in a home than a hospital room. The doctor did a quality of life assessment and that helped us with our decision. She and her assistant were so gentle with us as our emotions were high. They explained everything to us before and during the quick and peaceful process. They made a lovely print of our dog's paw and provided a nice cardboard casket. They offer cremation services also. They helped our family through this very difficult time with the perfect combination of compassion and professionalism. Thank you Idaho Veternary Hospital!!

I have an urban farm and I'm one of those crazy rescue ladies. I have 6 ankle biters (chihuahuas and poms) and chickens and ducks and a goat. IDAHO VETERINARIAN HOSPITAL has been amazing! My now 15 year old pom, none of us thought would make it they help me give her a comfortable end of life/ old age. She is still kicking and although her time may be short she is living her best life. They have also help me put my chicken that was suffering to sleep. This may sound crazy, but i love all my animals and the doctors are so nice here. I think Dr Ann Mueller and Dr Jennifer Hacker are the ones that I see most often. SO kind. I've taken most of my dogs here, and a chicken, and I think a few of the stray cats that decide I'm their mom. I highly recommend this place. I had a local LONG time vet in Nampa not care about my favorite dog and it died of dehydration after surgery, this wouldn't have happened here. I've had lots of NOT great experiences at about 10 different veterinarians. This one by far is the BEST. RECOMMEND!!!!!! I trust these guys with my animals-I haven't trusted any other around here.

Went in on a Thursday evening carrying in my dog with on wound on his leg. Ended up being a compound fracture. They were very kind and caring, as soon as they saw blood dripping from (under my make shift bandage) They took him back and got me into a room. They made sure I was ok before going back upfront. They kept me updated and asked ever time they needed to do something besides what we had already talked about. They gave me time to make phone calls and process everything. They made sure I understood all the options and was informed. They gave me high and low estimates. I ended up having to leave my dog over night, and they texted me letting me know how he was doing the next morning. He was scheduled for surgery that morning. They had some emergency surgery come in and kept me updated on his turn. Since it got pushed back and he was on IV pain meds they had made him a nice little bed one of the back offices with one of the Gal's so he wasn't alone. I was even aloud to go lay with him. That really calmed me down. As I was feeling like I failed my dog somehow. They kept reassuring me he would be fine and it wasn't my fault and I wasn't a crazy person for wanting to lay on the floor, instead of in the chair. They really care about not just the animals but the people also. They keep you updated on everything. I would definitely recommend them for any issue big or small. I would think about making them your primary vet if you don't have one. They are open later than most other vets and on Saturday. Big thanks to all the staff. You made this Momma more than just happy but comfortable leaving my baby in you care.

Great atmosphere and great professionals. They have a very smooth set up and very friendly. Staff appeared very happy which is great to see! I felt extremely comfortable with my dog needing a last minute c-section. Very thorough, but not pushy! Didn't keep trying to up sell like many vets. Also quite reasonably priced! Obviously truly cares for animals. Would highly recommend.

I have two guinea pigs and each has had his own urgent care visit in the past year. Both times the entire staff, start to finish were so friendly and kind. Both times the doctor and the tech both fussed over them, talked about how cute they were, and were generally sweet to me. But the way they were SO gentle and kind to my piggies was amazing. They pet and talked to them in soothing voices, praised them for being good boys, and generally loved on them. And this was two separate visits several months apart, so not a one-time deal. Often people dismiss small animals as disposable "starter" pets. It's such a huge comfort to have medical staff caring for my babies like the folks at IVH have. I will be a client as long as I live within driving distance!

These guys are so awesome I swear to God. They took care of me and my four cocker spaniels. Yeah I got a lot of dogs but they're so cute and they're so awesome. Just like this place. I recommend this place to everyone. But then if I do that then a whole bunch of people will be there and it'll be crazy busy and I won't be able to get in there as easily as I was able to get in there for my appointment for my dogs. They not only saw two dogs they went ahead and saw the other two also. Which was totally cool. They do everything there My dog has cherry eye they also do the surgery to fix the cherry eye. So yes absolutely what I recommend this place to friends family and beyond. And their understanding about your financial needs also. As far as I know I'm not sure if you can make payments but if you put enough money down I'm sure they can work something out with you

Had a great experience with my cat. The vet tech and the doctor were fantastic and caring and listened to my concerns and gave me up front pricing before they did any tests or procedures. I felt that they listened and treated me and my cat with respect. Would definitely recommend going here. Got in the same day I called although it wasn't a true emergency, which was great!

I have brought a couple of my pets here over the years and they have always been so friendly and informative. Just recently my cat passed away while I was on the way there and they still took him in and helped me. They had options for cremation and or prepare his body for burial. I would recommend them to anyone. They have always been awesome.

This place is amazing. My service pup broke her paw over the weekend. I brought her a different urgent care clinic and they wouldnt xray her without full sedation, even though I knew I could keep her calm without it. Idaho Vet let me hold her/talk her through everything. And they kept me calm when I was so stressed about my pup hurting. But they got her all squared away and even followed up after hours with her lab work. This place understands that service animals are our whole world, pets too. Their compassion, professionalism and care is top notch.

Woman on phone when I called around 2 am about my cat was SUPER nice! I was super super stressed and she helped alot. We rushed in and was able to get help getting crate out of my car thankfully. Older lady at desk was alright. Haha, I only say that since she wasn't very welcoming which is fine but I did notice she was..not necessarily rude..but a very unnecessary tone and comments about my cat. But other than that I loved the other ladies helping!! Helped my baby and were very kind. Thank you!

My blue and gold macaw and cat are both patients here. My BG macaw is a neurotic basket case and Dr. Schult is great with him (and other Drs. in an urgent care situation). I am so grateful to find local parrot care, got really lucky with this place. Overall very friendly, efficient staff with great service. We also love saying hi to Greta.

I was told they were a good clinic for exotic animals. I had to take Mindy, my snake in because she had some bumps that were unusual and she wasn't acting normal. They took the time to listen to her history and creating a plan. With an xray and exam the results were what I was expecting, but hoping it wasn't. They were very compassionate with options for treatment and future care for her. They even called a few days later to see how Monday and were doing. I am definitely using Idaho Veterinary Hospital for all my exotic animal needs now.

I requested an appointment online for a checkup and a rabies shot and was quickly taken care of by the friendly staff. Checking into the beautiful facility was easy and quick, and my dog was taken care of in less than a half hour. The technicians were polite and professional and I could tell they really enjoyed spending time with my pet.

These guys are over booked and busy. But we'll worth it! Well knowledge, so helpful. I feared my pet rat was badly injured. Waiting for 2 hr cause they had many emergency surgeries that made em abit backed up but they constantly had some one coming in to check up on my rat and I.. I felt at ease despite the chaos they were given over the weekend not to expensive for costs. These guys will sure help no matter the animal. Thank you guys. My rat Lilly is back to her spunky self again ^_^

IVH has aved sevral of pets over the years. They are compassionate, caring, and empathetic to needs of our beloved pets. When it's time to euthanize a pet, they take time to explain everything. Thank you SO MUCH to Dr. Cavender and vet tech Heidi! I was anxious about bringing our sweet but sometimes unpredictable Chihuahua mix Max in to get his eye examined, but Dr. Cavender and Heidi were incredibly kind, patient, compassionate and gentle. Max was BFF's with them by the time we left and the exam went great! His condition and treatment were fully explained, and the appointment never felt rushed. Both Max and I left feeling confident we got the best care in the valley. Thank you for taking such good care of our sweet boy!!!

Today we saw Dr. Calhoun and Amber for an emergency visit with our GSP. Our regular vet's office wouldn't schedule our sweet girl for 3 days, despite her being unable to open one of her eyes. Dr. Calhoun graciously saw our girl and was able to make a diagnosis, get her on some meds, and refer us to a specialist. We are so thankful to Dr. Calhoun and Amber for their kindness and professionalism. Our entire experience today was as seamless as could have been expected. The ladies at the reception/checkout desk were so kind and professional, as well. The clinic was clean, the staff kind, and we felt their prices to be absolutely reasonable. Dr. Calhoun made it a point to introduce himself and remember our names, and he had a firm, confident demeanor which we found reassuring in a down-to-earth way. Apparently our dog did, too, because she was very cooperative during her visit. We look forward to making Dr Calhoun our regular veterinarian for both of our dogs.

They cared more about my dog than any other vet or animal hospital. They actually got on the ground with him to do the exam and wanted to make sure he was comfortable. It almost seemed like they appreciated they could spend time with him. Certainly glad I switched vets.

I've tried the fancier vet hospitals and have spent over $25,000 on veterinary care in my lifetime, and for me this place is the perfect balance of high-tech veterinary medicine with caring professionals who give the feel of a small-town practice with fair prices. These folks really care about you and your pet.

We have been taking our animals here for the past few years. They are willing to answer all my questions on the phone and during appointments. They are family friendly. Excellent at giving vaccines in a way that doesn't distress the animals at all. We used their on call number for an emergency once and got our cat in for a visit and procedure very quickly. I won't be taking out pets anywhere else.

Dr. Calhoun saved all of us. We would not know how to deal with anything had Lacey been put to sleep. The emergency hospital told us that euthanasia is on the table if we could not afford the $8k pyometra surgery. They do not even want to release lacey when we said we want to take her home. Not unless we sign an AMA. We took her home and called Idaho Veterinary Hospital the following day. This hospital saved Lacey. The surgery did not even get close to $8k. Lacey is doing so well. They checked up on Lacey 3 times a day while she is recovering at home. All our pets go to this hospital. The best veterinarians in the valley!!

My dog was very very sick. They did everything they needed to do to figure out why she was sick. When it was time we put her to rest there I must say for being such a hard experience these people treated us with such dignity and my animal with such kindness. It was such a personal experience and they didn't make us go through the waiting room to ever be asked her comment about the dog. It was affordable for what we needed to do as well. The staff is very compassionate there. They gave me a paw print for my dog as well done in clay.

Gen. Purpose

I was a bit disappointed with this animal hospital. I brought in my bearded dragon that I just got. He had a swollen wrist and was hoping for some in depth advice and help with my beardy. All I got was a 2 page print out of "caring for your bearded dragon" and a look from the veterinarian that said "I'm not sure what's wrong but heres a 2 page instruction manual because I font know enough about them to just tell you." The print out informs me of things I already know and am doing right now for my bearded dragon. I felt insulted because the vet kept asking me if I had both kinds of UV lightbulbs, if I had adequate heat for them, and if I was giving them a well balanced diet. Well of course I am! I am a vet tech myself and know about caring for bearded dragons I wouldn't have gotten one if I didnt know how to care for them, but I had just bought this beardy and wanted to get a health check done, because that's what you do when you get a new pet, you take them to the vet yearly and if there are any problems. I felt like a bad pet owner because of them and I felt like they were blaming me my beardy had a swollen wrist. I'll be looking for a different vet for my beardy but as of today he is doing well, and his wrist is better.

We have been with another vet for almost 3 years now for our ferrets, and I never left happy. I am so happy that we found Idaho Veterinary Hospital! Dr. Hacker and the entire staff truly care for furry friends. They worked very hard to make my ferret and me comfortable. Our sweet ferret has hated going to the vet since we got her. She freaks out and is not friendly at all when we go and she is such a sweet loving creature at home. We noticed a change in ber behavior lately and got worried. Out old vet acted like it was an inconvenience to work her in and wanted to charge us an arm and a leg to do so. I called Idaho Veterinary Hospital and they were so kind and got us right in. Within the first few minutes I felt comfortable and our ferret wasn't quite as frantic. Today was our second visit and although she was still wiggly, our ferret actually layed down and chilled in the office. That is the first time she has ever done that. Every person that we delt with was so friendly to me and especially to our ferret. They took the time to love on her and make her feel more comfortable. Dr. Hacker really listened to me and came across something that she had not originally thought because our ferret isn't showing the normal symptoms. I am impressed with the fact that Dr. Hacker is moving slowly to ensure she is doing the right thing and not rushing into every procedure under the sun to nickle and dime us for a ton of money. I am just so thankful to have found such a loving environment for my ferrets! I would recommend anyone to go to Idaho Veterinary Hospital!

Staff was nice and friendly. However, took my dog in for an ultrasound and I feel like they rushed through it. It didnt even take 2 minutes within the time they got her on the table and off. They also said she had a full bladder, & I feel I should’ve been given the option to have her empty it and rescan regardless of what the outcome would be. When paying for a service, especially over $100, I shouldn’t feel rushed out.

Very happy with my experience here. Doctor and staff. I just purchased an animal recently and unfortunately he had to be put down. DR. JESSICA SCHULT was very accommodating and empathetic toward my needs. She did not overcharge when it came time to euthanize him. I will go here from now on.

Healthful Staffing

My mom called me two weeks ago in tears. Her faithful best friend was letting her know it was time, he hadn’t gotten up and wasn’t eating. I called Idaho Vet Hospital and explained that it was urgent. They got us right in. We had a private room. The staff was so kind and caring. They made the process as easy and beautiful as it could possibly be. They sent my mom a card the next day and made a paw print casting for us to keep as a memory. I cannot say enough kind a d thankful words about this incredible place. Thank you all for taking such good care of Rooster and my mom on one of her hardest days.

The doctors have always been straightforward with information and a treatment plan. I know I cause them a lot of upheaval, but they always come through. I just love their teamwork and positivity. This place and the people here are wonderful. I had a very sick baby bearded dragon that I brought here. Unfortunately, she had to be euthanized. The team here was so wonderful and caring. They cared for her so sweetly and told me the truth about her condition while still being kind. They didn't even charge me for the exam or the euthanasia. I would definitely recommend this vet hospital to anyone, they love your animals like they are their own.

This was the best experience I've ever had at a vets office. Even though they were booked, they still managed to squeeze me in, and that means so much to me. The vet and tech were both very knowledgeable about ball pythons and they were able to treat my sweet Pandora with extra care and love. Love This Vet Hospital. They are reasonable on cost, friendly and show love for your pets. We recently had to bring in our beloved dog of 18 years who was not doing well. 1st time I've ever had to make the decision to put a pet to sleep. They were Amazing, it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. This office is fantastic!! I called in a panic because my cat’s eye was swollen and looked all watery and Aymee at the front desk helped calm me down and had me send a picture of his eye so the doctor could look and tell me if I should bring him in or not. They said I could bring him I. Tonight or wait until tomorrow. I said if I can do it tonight that be ok and the doctor said they would stay until I got there to see him. Dr. Bierman and her vet tech were absolutely amazing!! She didn’t seem annoyed that she was there late and made both me and my cat feel comfortable. We will definitely be going back for any other veterinary needs.

We recently had to say goodbye to our beloved pet. We chose to be with her during her final moments. The attending staff was wonderful as we tearfully said goodby to our sweet pet. A paw impression was made as a keepsake and a burial box was provided for our burial at home. After about a week in passing, a sympathy card came in the mail with all of the staff individually writing kind words of comfort. A bookmark was enclosed with a picture of our dear pet and a beautiful poem. Thank you for your kind words and thoughts. God bless you all!

Everyone here is so polite and professional. I really appreciate the way they handled my dog when he was dropped off for surgery. Even when I picked him up he didn't look stressed and they walked out with me (I also had my kids) and helped put him in my car so he wouldn't have to jump up. He felt sick today (the day after) and they didn't hesitate to look at him again to make sure he's still okay. I'm really happy we found this place for our dog, and that's saying something since I'm very protective of him.

This was our first visit with our 5 year old pittie. We brought her in because she was limping. They spent a good hour examining her, which also included Xray and blood work up, all while showing compassion and concern for her. Our dog loved her visit to the vet. They were very thorough and took time to make sure we understood her diagnosis as well as the plan to treat her. Turns out our baby has a little arthritis in her rear knees but they have a non invasive plan to help her through diet and a change in her exercise as well as a short regiment of anti inflammatory treatments for 2 weeks. They got us in on short notice and once there they immediately got us in to see a vet with virtually no wait. We couldn't be happier with how she was treated and how we were treated. This is a place I can trust with the care of our 4 legged child. We have found our vet!

I stopped in, in a state of panic. My regular vet was closed and Missy's tongue was swollen and stuck to her tooth. They said they usually don't take walk ins but had an opening and got her in within about 15 minutes. The doctor had to end up doing surgery that day to remove her tooth and we were on our way home in a couple of hours. They were they absolute BEST and I would highly recommend!

I took my Beagle in due to his itchy paws that he kept licking and chewing on. Everyone from the front office staff to the Doctor was very competent and helpful. Their love for animals truly shows. With the medications he was given he's feeling much better. I have always had awful experiences when taking him anywhere to get his nails trimmed. I can hear him yelping in pain and he leaves with nicked quicks. Not this time! The vet tech said he sat right on her lap while they were being trimmed and the bonus was there was no bleeding! I'll never go anywhere else and I will definitely recommend them to family and friends. Thanks for such a great atmosphere and experience!

I would have liked them to take a little more time on the ultra sound and explain what they were looking at to me better and slower so I could actually see the puppies, beings I had to keep some focus on my baby girl so she would be still and not scared. I don't even know how to put into words how amazing this place is. Dr. Calhoun has taken care of our dogs for more than twenty years and he is kind, honest, supporting and empathetic. We see Dr. Caldwell, as well. She is great. They both understand that pets are family, not just animals. We've had to euthanize several of our pets and we're allowed to stay with them as long as we need to. They also offer a nice cremation service, which we've had to use four times, but I'm not sure it's done there. The staff are kind and friendly, too. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. 😀😀😀😀😀

They delivered our puppies in April and a few days later, our dogs c-section incision came open after operating hours. I was distraught. WestVet wanted thousands of dollars... They had vets hopping in the car while talking to me and we all met at the clinic. They started seeing my dogs last year when we moved here. I had reservations as one of my dogs has diabetes and I had already gone through a few doctors that tried to take advantage of that fact. I heard very often "you have done this much for your dog, you don't want that effort to go to waste." I was doing expensive blood curves every two weeks. My dog hated it as she had to spend the whole day in a clinic cage and I hated the bill. The vets here are amazing!!! The first encounter they (Staff and the veterinarian) explained ALL my options. I tested out a new insulin that was 75 bucks cheaper and it worked just fine for my dog. They said no more all day blood curves if it stresses my dog and gave me other options. The vet said "I see a happy, responsive 10 year old dog, eating and functioning, let's just keep it that way." They explained everything in a manner I understood, gave me some symptoms to look out for that we might need to up her insulin for and sent home a happy puppy. I was just so impressed. I have been in many clinics and this is one of the good ones. Amazing staff that really cares about the animals, while still keeping the human in mind. They send reminders online and now have an online account for your dog so you can see your dogs record. I just love them. They have saved me hundreds of dollars just in the first few months of going there in tests and prescriptions and my dog is more happy and just as healthy as she can be. Glad my neighbor pointed me in their direction also singing their praises.

Just started taking our two dogs (puppy and senior dog) to see Dr. Calhoun. Dr. Calhoun and his staff provide excellent care. Dr. Calhoun is thorough, professional and has a great sense of humor. He does not rush the examine and our dogs were very relaxed compared to other experiences elsewhere. Our questions and concerns were well addressed. Staff was courteous, professional and helpful. Overall, a great experience for ourselves and our dogs. Also, Dr. Calhoun did not push lab testing. He prescribed a medication based on his examination and then said we would pursue lab testing if our dog did not respond to the medicine. A conservative, sensible and greatly appreciated approach.

I wanted to try a different vet and had heard great things from my friends about IVH but my visit was disappointing. The technician claimed my puppy's first vaccine at 7.5 week was too early and was invalid (it wasn't he miscalculated). I have decided to give some vaccinations myself with this puppy as I gave my last dog adequan injections and I administer human vaccines regularly. The technician made it clear that he thought my choice to give my puppy lepto was a poor one after the vet left the room. He claimed it was an unsafe vaccine and my dog only needed if he swam in stagnant waters in Oregon (which he likely will). I do competitive hunt tests with my dogs and frequently travel out of state and they swim on rural property, drink from streams etc. My sister is a veterinarian (not local) and she even insisted that this was an important vaccine for my dogs. I didn't have any concerns with the vet but we spent most of the time with technician. When we paid for the visit we questioned the cost but were assured that it was correct. When I went home I found instead of getting a free exam from his AKC paperwork we were charged double. To be fair the front staff was nice when I called and fixed the issue but it wasn't a great first impression.

The service was really good but the doctor I worked with was very informative and was in a rush to get into the next patient. While I understand wanting to hurry I was left with no real answer to what my dog had other than the fact that it was kennel cough. I didnt know what signs to look for of my dog was getting worse. The doctor left into a back room and I was never left the opportunity to ask any questions. I knew before I went in that he had kennel cough and I told them that, I wanted to know what to do about it. All I got was a "diagnosis" that he had kennel cough and was abandoned. I paid $200 for this visit Dont worry, went to a vet on overland in boise and they answered my questions without making me pay a dime.

AWESOME new vet! I used to take my pets to IPH, but their pricing and recommendations for unnecessary procedures has gotten out of hand, and their customer service is awful since Dr. Beede retired. I LOVE my new vets! Dr. Caldwell and Dr. Calhoun are amazing, and when I received my first bill for a procedure I had reverse sticker shock! After so many years at IPH, I was expecting my complicated dental work to be in the thousands of dollars, but I was VERY pleasantly surprised. The waiting period for a visit was reasonable and when our sweet girl needed put down it was handled sensitively and professionally. One, when you have an appointment it should not take 30 to 45 minutes later to get seen. Both visits now, I have a 6 month old male American Pitbull Terrier, and they leave you in the waiting room with dogs waiting to breed. Let's just say it's not fair to "Ruger" or myself to sit with other dogs that are waiting to breed. I will give them one more opportunity to get it right.

Our little two year old Schnauzer mix started having bloody, frequent urination and we were afraid to see a vet because of the cost. After seeing these reviews, I decided to bite the bullet and take him in. Dr. Calhoun was kind, friendly, professional, and very sensitive to my concern about cost. He addressed it up front, letting me know exactly what they were going to do and how much it would cost before he got started. I was shocked by how inexpensive it was compared to another vet I had seen a few years ago on 12th Avenue. The service was less than half the cost and I felt like I got way better service than the other place. And this was for a far more serious issue! Highly, highly recommended. Already a long time fan of IVH, but had my first tele-vet visit with Dr Mueller and after a couple technical glitches she was so very helpful. I did think it was a little pricy @ $55 but know the business and after the app gets its cut im sure it is what it is. Regardless, the ability to send photos , live video and a detailed documented diagnosis.. all in all its worth it. Best vet around.

Dr. Calhoun and Staff, I am very happy to write this testimonial regarding my very first visit to the Idaho Veterinary Hospital. My baby Ramsey (Conure) was going to now be going on his third vet visit in less than a week. He clearly had a broken leg and after Vet visit number one, I was told he broke his tibiotarsus and was fitted with a splint that came off that very night and no pain medication was even prescribed. So I took him to a second vet who told me that actually it was his Femur that was broken and the prognosis was poor. So i did my research online and found Idaho Veterinary Hospital and we went to a 3rd visit not feeling very optimistic. As soon as we walked in I already felt better. In the lobby was a Blue Mcaw and in the corner was Wasabi another beautiful bird. I immediately thought to myself, we are at the right place. I can happily say my visit with Dr. Calhoun exceeded my expectations. He correctly diagnosed the leg break as a tibiotarsus fracture and the nurse took a beautiful x-ray clearly showing the fracture location. Dr. Calhoun expertly applied a wonderful splint and provided me with clear and precise information on what to expect in Ramsey's recovery. I will be back and Dr. Calhoun will now have 4 more new patients if the need ever arises. My appreciation to the whole staff is immense and the drive from Meridian to Nampa was definitely worth it. Thank you so much for all you did to help me with my Ramsey!

If there is any draw back it would be the cost, but....after reading reviews of the other vets and shelters in the area, I will return. All of (REX'S) teeth were removed and the low estimate never changed we were just charged the ( Low Estimate) and a sist was also removed from (REX'S) EYE...
