We are so lucky that we found Junaluska Animal Hospital. They saved our pup’s life. We live a fair distance away, so they weren’t our normal vet, but after having our big dog swallow a small tennis ball (whole!) on a Sunday morning, we knew that we couldn’t wait. Junaluska got us in that day! The doctor was calm in the face of our panic & didn’t immediately leap into surgery being the only option - which was reassuring. But he did give us all the options and how we should proceed. We did end up having to have surgery, but we had been treated so well by the staff & had quality follow ups that we felt comfortable with them performing the procedure. From the surgeon to all of the doctors, vet techs & front desk staff - we were treated as important clients and with calm compassion for our situation. And the pricing for everything was upfront and very reasonable. For such an upscale facility, I would have expected to pay more than we did. Junaluska obviously takes great pride in what they do and we can’t thank them enough. Post surgery, our pup is doing great and you can barely even see a scar!

I took my cat in Friday night because I had accidentally gave her my dogs flea medicine instead of hers. They met me as I came through the door immediately took her back and gave her the care she needed. They were all very nice from the front desk girls to the assistant and the dr himself everyone was wonderful! They got her better the best they could an sent us home with trimmer medicine and pain medicine. She is doing very well now no more trimmers an back to her spunky self. ❤️ We appreciate y’all very much and so thankful y’all are open late.

I love checking in from the car and being invited in when we're ready to be put into our room. The vet can sometimes be tricky as not all dogs mesh well together. It alleviated stress on my dog and me! Dr. Alt and his team were very kind and welcoming. They scheduled us in quickly for her surgery. I would have loved a little more information regarding what to expect as far as payment goes as I was quoted between $256-$306, but the pre-labs alone were $150. Anyhow, outside of that I feel my doggo is in good hands. Edit: I ended up deciding not to spay my dog at 6 months after doing a bit of research the night before. I can be a bit of a hypochondriac, so I told myself I wouldn’t get in a wormhole. Well, I’m glad I did. I found out through many legitimate studies and articles that spaying a golden retriever (of which my dog is half) is not a good idea before at least one year for proper hormonal development. I am a little bummed this knowledge was not communicated to me prior to making my decision.

We were visiting the Sylva area and our dog, Ziggy, was just not feeling well. After calling several vets in the area, they all recommended Junaluska Animal Hospital. The receptionists, doctor and assistant were all very professional and caring. Ziggy had an eye and ear infection, was given antibiotics, a shot and eye drops. He was much better the following day. I came in with an emergency! Never been here before my vet couldn't see my cat and referred me to Junaluska. I'm so glad they did. I was met right away and they took awesome care of my pet my son and I. From start with the assistant, doctor Ballard, to discharge they were professional and kind. I have brought both my dog & my cat to this facility and they are flawless. I have brought them in for emergencies & I haven’t spent more than an hour at a time in there. The staff is the most friendly staff, they are quick, efficient and genuine. I know that every time I come here my pets are getting the best care possible. Thank you for all of your amazing work! Special thanks to Dr. Keith R, what a great guy & awesome vet. Our dog adored him! He made us feel welcome, answered all of our questions, and provided the best care, all while keeping smiles on our faces.

We brought our sweet girl in, fighting for her life. Not giving the doctors much to work with, but held on to hope and faith. She was in diabetic Ketosis her sugar levels was off the chart (literally so high it was off the chart). She lost a dramatic amount of weight within a week, to the point we could see her bones. It was heartbreaking! We had no idea she was diabetic, she lost weight so rapidly it was unbelievable. She couldn't even stand on her own. She went downhill so fast! We were given options, try an aggressive treatment in the hospital for the day where there was only a very small chance of survival, or put her down. We decided to put her in the hospital, and prayed. Throughout the day they kept her alive, on an infusion pump, with aggressive insulin treatments, iv catheter, potassium, fluids and more, they fought for her, they monitored her and called us every hour with updates. Every call that said she was still alive, was another inch of room for hope. We didn't give up on her, and neither did they. Long story short, with their help and prayers she pulled through the day. She has been home for over 8 weeks getting stronger everyday!! She has a long road ahead, but we are grateful to Junaluska Animal Hospital for helping to give her a chance! She is on two shots a day for the rest of her life now, but alive, gaining weight slowly, and back to her sassy self. For this reason, Id recommend Junaluska Animal Hospital~!

My little dog was attacked by another dog (injuries were not life threatening). I was given an appointment to be seen within an hour. When we got there we were seen right away. Everyone was nice and friendly. They gave lots of love to my little one. The clinic was very clean. The price was reasonable for a Sunday emergency. The Vet didn’t order any unnecessary test. I was extremely satisfied with the visit.

My dog is VERY aggressive and hard to examine, treat, etc. I am SO thankful for the team at Junaluska Animal Hospital who treated him. I don't remember names of all the staff 4-5 who helped with his examine and treatment, yesterday, but I appreciate them SO much. The Vet is just fantastic and I really did like him, and the ladies who helped hold and treat my dog were just angels!!!! I can't say anything was lacking nor can I praise them enough for the help in my dog's care, and their communication with me. I was able to get an emergency visit. Our dog Pepper was accepted before 5pm..... We had to wait till 6pm for surgery but they got it all done and explained her medications and information on our treatment to her at home very well.

Well, I called day of and was able to get an appointment. Checked in via text. Wait time was maybe 5-8 minutes until we were able to go in. Boss and I got back to a room and the tech nurse was great. He was thorough and nice. The veterinary doctor was awesome answered all my questions and gave me antibiotics for my dog boss. Great visit. Thank you, from Boss and Nichols family.

We were new in town and experiencing a pet emergency. Not knowing where to go we took a chance with Junaluska Animal Hospital since the website advertised emergency and urgent care. We arrived early, 30 minutes, and I walked around the building hoping to see someone inside. I knocked and was greeted. I was given paperwork to fill out (mind you the hospital didn't open for 30 more minutes) and told they would triage our dog and get us in as soon as possible. We were in a room by 8:45 and talking with the veterinarian, Dr Ballard. Sadly our Gracie could not be helped, she was 16 and her health was failing. Despite the circumstances Dr. Ballard, Kim, and Ronnie took great care of Gracie and made us feel like family. They didn't rush us and gave us as much time as we needed with her. Our experience with Junaluska Animal Hospital was nothing short of exceptional! We highly recommend them for all of your pet needs.

Poppy got the absolute BEST care and I was kept very informed all along the way. Everything was explained thoroughly and all decisions were mine to make. Th entire staff helped me to feel comfortable that Poppy would be in great hands as I had to leave her overnight, a very difficult thing to do. While an emergency is not the way I wish to have met these folks, I am certainly VERY glad that I have met them and will recommend them to everyone I meet!

Our Great Pyrenees severely broke her dewclaw nail and was bleeding. It occurred in the evening, after our usual vet's office was closed. I called Lake Junaluska Animal Hospital and they were able to take us in right away. The entire staff at Lake Junaluska Animal Hospital was wonderful to us! They were sweet as could be to us and to our pup. They got her in quickly, fixed her up and had us on our way in a very short amount of time. She immediately felt better and is still doing awesome. Also, Lake J only charged us a tiny amount more than we would have paid for a regular visit to our normal vet and this was an emergency visit! We are definitely considering changing both of our pups care over to Lake Junaluska Animal Hospital. Thank you so much everyone!

We were so grateful to have found this hospital while away from our hometown. The staff was friendly caring and professional, the doctor took excellent care of our dog who had a puncture wound after being attacked by another dog. My dog required an emergency vet visit over the weekend when ours was closed. My dog is extremely reactive and protective when strangers approach us so vet visists are a process. The compassion, care and support that the staff provided making sure that my pup was comfortable and listening to me on how we typically approach vet visits was amazing. They didn’t once brush me off but worked with me to ensure my dog and me felt heard and safe. The quality of care was never compromised. We are brand new to the area. It was Super Bowl Sunday night at about 8pm. My elderly dog was not acting right. You took us right in and we saw Dr Menino(sp) who was super nice. Everyone from front desk to tech was awesome. Friendly, explanatory and caring. Roz is feeling much better now. I would highly recommend your hospital to anyone. Oh and the doctor called the next day to check on Roz. Thank you so much!

Exceptional Urgent Care! Doctors and staff kept us informed with updates and were eager to address any of our concerns. We traveled from Franklin, NC because our local vet was unavailable to take an emergency. Junaluska Animal Hospital is our first choice in emergency care for our pets! We have used them on a few occasions and had a great experience with every one of them. The facility is fantastic! We have been clients since they were in the portable building!!

My husband and I switched to Junaluska AH from another local vet that we had used for 10 years or so, after the quality of care at the previous vet had slowly declined. We could not be happier with the service that we have received at Junaluska. The staff is professional and caring, and most importantly (for us), they understand working breed dogs and are not confident and respectful around them. The staff at our old vet always seemed to be nervous or afraid, which made our dog even more wary and untrusting of them. In addition, the fact that Junaluska is also an emergency vet is nice, in that they have extended hours and are on top of the latest care information for our babies.

All staff very courteous and knowledgeable. Miss Bella is very anxious when she visits, even for a routine check up. Every staff member she saw was very aware of her anxiety and made her as comfortable as possible. Her appointment was finished quickly and we were on our way home. I received follow up information about her lab tests the following day. I was very satisfied with Bella's visit and care.

Took my dog on an emergency visit for an allergic reaction he was experiencing. Dr Reason delayed his lunch in order to treat him. He was understanding and quickly developed a treatment plan to relieve the rash and the itching. It worked and my buddy started recovering. Very pleased.

My first visit went great. My cat had an accident and was limping. The vet was sweet and kind, put my mind at ease and prescribed the right medication. My cat started feeling better the same day! I thought for sure they would make me get X-rays because he was limping but the vet knew it was nothing serious and was honest about it. I am very thankful for that. The assistant was helpful and patient too. My cat was hurting and so nervous that he had an accident in his carrier. She helped me clean it up and made me feel it was not a big deal. Thank you! Also, the prices were reasonable. I was not pushed any extras which I greatly appreciate.

When we first adopted our puppy, he was found to have an intestinal parasite. We saw 4 different Veteranarians over the months, and all were very nice and caring. After about 4 months of positive tests, one of the vets spent a long while texting us about the nature of the parasite, and the tests used, in office and off-site, and it finally made sense. It has been very easy to get quick appointments and all the staff is very nice. We have been taking our pets there for about 30 years! Very satisfied!

My puppy got into something toxic and was in very critical condition, at one point she was in a coma and having seizures. My little girl was knocking on death's door. They brought her around and it looks like she will make a full recovery. I'm extremely grateful!!

I never leave reviews but this is one place that deserves 5 stars. Between October and December I drove 2+ hours each way every few weeks to bring my dog Faolain in to be seen by Dr. Minoli. This was after having shown up with an emergency one Saturday (and no appointment). The care and compassion here is unmatched, it made me happy to make the trip. I've never had an experience like this with any medical facility, be it for animals or humans. Unfortunately my beautiful fur baby is no longer with us, but they gave us such amazing care. He was diagnosed with a horrible disease and they did everything to make him as comfortable as possible, while maintaining quality of life. Our doctor was so sweet with him, and so considerate with me a we faced the hardest times of my dog's life. When it was no longer fair to ask him to continue fighting, they treated us with nothing but kindness and respect, allowing us to say goodbye for as long as we needed, in a private room. They made the entire awful ordeal so much easier. They made sure my baby was well medicated and comfortable, and he passed so peacefully. This was followed by an incredible cremation service they offer through Agape Pet Services. All that was needed of us was to say our goodbyes and leave everything else in their gentle hands. Within days my pet's ashes were ready for pickup and when I did get them, wow. They were placed in a beautiful carved wooden box with my baby's name on it, along with a paw print impression that came framed. I cannot begin to express my gratitude to everyone involved from our first emergency visit to the end. Junaluska Animal Hospital will forever be in my heart, and I will recommend them to everyone I know. Also, thank you for the sympathy card we received in the mail, signed by the whole office! You really make your clients feel cared for. I would also like to add how affordable the care was, they did everything to help with cost, including finding coupons they printed out for some very expensive meds he needed from a pharmacy. Above and beyond!

What an outstanding experience! My husband and I were vacationing from Florida with our three labs when one of them became acutely ill. Considering it was almost 7pm and not being from the area we had to depend on a quick google search of the area, which luckily led us here! They immediately sent someone to the waiting area to triage our dog to determine her stability. Each staff member we interacted with was amazing. Dr. Alicia is compassionate and kept us up to date ensuring we had a clear understanding of her plan of care. Though the experience of being out of state and having to keep your pet in a hospital overnight was terrifying, once Carly received care we knew we were leaving her in good hands. They even provided a 24 hour phone number where we could call to check on her anytime we wanted. We found the cost very reasonable and we were provided estimates based on outpatient care as well as hospitalization before treatment began. I had to bring my cat back a week later because his bottom was not healing well after one week. I was called and told blood labs were normal but when I came back the Dr said my cat had a UTI and prescribed medication. Had I not come back for a second visit I wouldn’t have known about the UTI. Why wasn’t this told to me when I was called about the test results? Also, concerned about the dose of Clavamox. Cat is experiencing side effects from 125mg. Not satisfied abd would like a call. Please call.

Had to take my dog taz in on 2/1/2023 for a emergency visit to have a spot on the side of his face checked and the vet tech and the Dr was amazing my boy taz didn't like the idea of having to hey a shot at all but when he started to act up they immediately gave me space to me space for a minute most vets would have kinda freaked out but they didn't and thank you for that we will definitely be back for his surgery

My first experience with Junaluska Animal Hospital was for an emergency pancreatitis episode Bear had. Dr. Reason was not only kind, but he made sure he explained everything and was not in a hurry to get me in and out of there fast. I immediately felt comfortable with him, and his staff, who were also friendly. Bear didn't act as scared as he did at the other vet. So something about Dr. Reason and his staff makes Bear feel more at ease! My next visit was routine but just as positive. Bear will start trembling when we go to the Vet but he ran right up to Dr. Reason all happy and wagging his tail. Dr. Reasons vet tech was super nice too - I wish I'd remembered to ask her name or read her name tag! Clean facility. Great staff. I'm new to JAH and so glad I switched.

All of the nurses and doctors I've seen have been wonderful. I can tell they really care about my pets, and I trust their opinions. At other vet offices, I've sometimes felt pressured to do an expensive procedure or get on a complex regimen. But at JAH, I feel like they truly have good intentions. They explain everything to me thoroughly and take time to make sure all of my questions are answered (and I usually have lots of questions). Overall, I am very satisfied with the care and experience at JAH.

It was the worst experience ever. We have always used Junaluska and they have always been amazing, top notch. They even saved our dog after a horrible abuse situation. Today the vet tech came out and told me my dog had turned blue but when I asked why she said he would be fine. NO EXPLANATION! Then when she brought him out I asked about the test that was supposed to be done and was told I had to bring him back in 3 weeks they didn’t do it. I ask why and wanted an explanation and All I was told was the doctor didn’t want to?!? So now I have to take another day off work to make sure his meds are in him at the right time and pay another bill. She could not answer any of my questions about my dog but could ask me 4 times for payment. I did not receive the services I was there for. Update: since this incident above the staff has been amazing. They have allowed us to be with our baby every time and there have been no issues! The nurses and doctors have went above and beyond to ensure we are happy and our dog has been taken care of! Thank You Junaluska for reaching out and making sure we are taking care of!

Courtney the triage nurse and doctor Alt were wonderful. They got us right in for an appointment and we had answers and a treatment plan almost immediately. They were friendly and you could tell were true animal lovers. Highly highly recommend them over any other emergency clinic in the Buncome and Haywood and Henderson counties. We have been to them all and never had such a great experience. The bill was extremely reasonable as well compared to the clinica in Asheville and Hendersonville!

Not what it used to be. The turnover rate at this hospital is pretty high, different staff and vets each visit. I walked out after waiting almost an hour past my appointment time, double and triple booking will do that. The pet is already stressed about the visit, lets make it worse by putting more anxiety on them in a long wait. A real shame, I've been a client for almost 18 years and this was a wonderful practice some ten years or so ago. I revised my review after the practice manager reached out to discuss my concerns. I appreciated the contact and fact that there were no excuses used. It was acknowledged that they have scheduling problems and are working on them and other issues that clients have brought to their attention.

They have so much business that they can't keep up so if you need your pet to be seen urgently, my suggestion is to look elsewhere. We used to take our pet here but in the case of our in-law's very sick dog we were told that they are too busy to see him. Glad to see you have enough business. In the future I will no longer be taking my pets to see them as I wouldn't want to burden them with a visit. I will be letting anyone who will listen know to steer clear. Hopefully this will help someone else make an informed decision and lighten the load for you all.

Such a caring and friendly staff. I had to go in as an emergency walk in after my 16 year old Chihuahua Fozzy, he had a Gran Mal seizure. Not only were they able to work is in immediately, but they were extremely caring and continually asking if we needed anything. The Vet was so nice, he called in his medicine to a local pharmacy, where we were able to save over $160.00 off the price for all the new meds he now has to take for the rest of his life. We lost a very good girl today. It was awful and such short notice and tragic all around, and maybe this is the only thing I feel like I can do for her, but the care and information that Jeffrey Alt and JAH gave was exceptional. We'd called, no joke, 8-10 vets/after-hours hospitals/emergency clinics (including my regular provider for 8+yrs) over the course of 12 hours and not one had a single emergency slot open. Not only were JAH the only ones that could take us in less than 7 hours wait time for an emergency visit - they got is in in less than an hour - they were also the only one where the receptionist/admin staff stuck on the phone with us the night prior, helping us to diagnose the seriousness of it and talking us thru options and thresholds for concern. No one else did that or came remotely close to it. Whoever she was deserves a raise. I'm so so sad, but one of the only bright spots was that JAH took us in without any prior relationship and made sure we ended things with minimal suffering before she went to a place with unlimited bacon and birds.

On August 11, 2022 my dog and I were attacked by three pit bulls at a local park. My dog, Max was severely injured and needed immediate medical care. Diane, the director received my call and immediately got my dog in to get the needed surgery and medical attention he required. Like the doctor I saw, but when I called for an appointment I stated I needed a bortatella shot and something for itching. Upon my arrival, I was told that I needed to see the doctor and my appointment was only for injections. Ok well I’m sorry. I don’t work there. Your staff is the one that took the information and decided what type of appointment I needed. They acted as if it was my fault that their staff was A not trained properly or B. They just weren’t paying attention to what type of appointment I needed. And the front desk staff is not very friendly at all. But once you make it pass the front desk issues the doctors are caring helpful and eager to get your fur baby feeling better. I would have given them five stars if I didn’t have to deal with the front desk. They need serious help.

Disappointed. Initially happy to find JAH on a weekend with a very sick cat diagnosed with feline leukemia. Grateful to get him through the flare up and on the other side. Vet did not make me aware of potency of the antibiotic and the diarrhea and vomiting that are side effects. No follow up to check on my cat. Basically written off as chronically ill animal and suggested I may want to euthanize. He's a young cat, and has a strong will to live. I am a competent caregiver when given the tools and information. Vet repeatedly left the room and expected his tech to handle the questions about medications and follow up care. Looking for a vet who will think outside the box and offer supportive care, not dismiss an animal because of a tough diagnosis. I would hope that a human would not be diagnosed and responded to in this way. I am naively optimistic. Next visit was with my 16 year old dog who I suspected may have had a seizure. After concluding that it was not a seizure, but rather a vestibular incident, vet encouraged lab work. He left the room again, several times, while I made a decision about labs, rather than spending time getting to know my dog, and another cat I brought in for an exam and feleuk testing. I agree to the labwork. The appointment was on Friday, and I did not receive a call until the following Wednesday to go over the results. Rather than acknowledge how great the blood work was, the vet honed in on slightly elevated kidney values and wanted to change her diet. I told him that I was not interested in a diet change, but wanted to pursue more palliative care for her age and mobility. I do not have the sense that I would have received the information I am seeking for quality end of life care had I not gone in with a strong background and some tools in my toolbox already. Again, a lack of thinking outside the box. I will not rule out another visit to this practice as unfortunately it is difficult to find vets who are willing to spend the time reviewing individual cases and offer supportive care. The practice seems large enough that more vets could be hired so that more time could be spent with individuals. I was told that appointments per animal are 20 minutes - not much time to get to know new patients, especially when most of the time is not actually in the room with the patient...

I don’t know what kind of mark up there is on medication($380) but a simple visit cost me over $630.00 for an ear infection. Time to find another Vet😔 UPDATE: I talked with Diane and I do admit the staff were EXCELLENT with my beloved dog. The doctor, exam, and other things done for my dog were reasonable, and I do admit the cost of the medicine is not a reflection of the business, but reconfirms my destain for the pharmaceutical greed. Diane said she will reinforce to her staff to give a heads up to their clients concerning costs to prevent blindsiding their customers. I’m changing my review from a 1 star to a 4 star after coming to these conclusions. Thank you Diane for taking the time to discuss my experience.

We had an urgent problem with our old dog and even though we had never been seen at Junaluska Animal Hospital, they got us in within hours. Our vet was so understanding and gentle with our dog, Heidi. He understood that we are at the point where all we want to do is keep her happy and comfortable and wait for any decisions about euthanasia until my husband could be back in town.. He did'nt suggest any involved testing etc. He did a though exam and gave her a shot of antibiotic, and prescribed antibiotics and pain meds. Today, two days later, Heidi is much better and we can wait for a bit until making that decision. Our vet was so supportive of my feelings at a time when I really needed that and I can't thank him and his staff for all they did for all of us.

Right before Thanksgiving, we took our sweet 5 year old cat, Pearl, into get checked for a large mass on her leg. We had Pearl every since she was a kitten. The news that Pearl had a terrible malignant tumor that had spread to the point that operating was not an option. The news was devasting. The kids and I could only cry... a little uncontrollably if I am honest. The staff and vet were so kind and compassionate. We did not feel rushed and were allowed all the time we needed to say goodbye to our girl. Since we chose to stay with Pearl through the euthanasia process, the staff thoroughly explained everything to us so we knew what to expect. They were so kind. We were a mess. After her passing, they brought her to us in a tiny little cardboard coffin so we could take her home. Inside the box, she was tenderly wrapped in a beautiful blanket. Just a few days ago, we received a lovely card from Junaluska offering the tenderest of condolences... They didn't have to do that. I am so impressed and humbled by how they treated our family that I must give them 5 stars. I highly recommend them. They are good people that love and respect the human-animal family dynamic.

I was in town for labor day weekend and needed to bring our older dog in. The service was outstanding. Cost was cheaper than we normally pay, our visit did not take too long. The vet talked to me for 30 minutes about how best to help my dog. The vet was knowledgeable and kind in her communication. We are returning home looking for a new vet after this experience. 10/10 would recommend you take your pet here.

I like this hospital. The staff is nice and the facility is nice as well. My only complaint is that I wasn't given any sort of quote on how much each procedure was, so when I was checking out I was not expecting the amount. If I had known, I would have looked at the pet insurance/assistance programs available. I'll be better prepared next time but if you're trying to budget and prepare, be sure to call ahead and ask so you have the funds available and you can help your furrbaby get back home quicker.

My Maddie is a recently diagnosed diabetic. We come on saturdays for frequent sugar checks. For some reason she’s become quite nervous. Until now she’s get excited and bark as we got near the facility. She’s been comfortable w/the staff and they’ve been loving and supportive to her as well. This past weekend Dr Resson could see how nervous she was so he and his 2 assistants actually came outside and did her check out there! Who does that? Dealing w/diabetes in dogs is new for me and has been scary and overwhelming. Dr Reason and his fabulous assistants have been nothing but supportive and reassuring. Love the staff and how wonderful they have been to our “Little Man”!! We bought our Yorkie from the Lady that owns Loves Pet Store in Franklin NC. Long story short, she had him four days before I bought him, and had not been feeding him properly. Less than 14 hours after getting him, we were at Junaluska Animal Hospital. Little Man was lethargic, he couldn’t walk or even stand up on his own. He could look at us and blink, but was completely lifeless other than that. He had even wet on himself. We thought he was dying! I called Junaluska Animal Hospital, and told them our situation, and they had us come right over. They met us at the car and took our Little Man and rushed him straight in the office! Another nurse promptly came to my car and led me into the office and into a room. They met me in the room, and was very thorough with what they believed to be going on. They assured me they believed he would be ok after some meds and spending the day in their care. His diagnosis was hypoglycemia. His sugar should have been around 70, and it was in the 20’s. (This was due to the lady I purchased him from, and her changing his food from what the breeder had him on). The staff knew exactly what our little man needed, and I could not be more thankful for these folks!!! Thanks to JAH, and their AMAZING TEAM, our Little Man has gone from 5oz to 1.6 lbs. And, at his recent visit, he weighed 2 lbs!! He’s a very spunky little Yorkie!!

This facility cares about your pet and is staffed with younger doctor's that are on the cutting edge of taking care of your pets needs. How ever it is considered an emergency hospital so getting a walk in appointment is almost not available! Also they cannot accommodate you with boarding so one will have to seek out a private camp for that. Their care out weighs the negatives but it just makes it inconvenient as I was used to all the above in the Charlotte area!

I was vacationing in Franklin, NC when my dog fell ill. I Tried several Vets Offices and was turned down. I finally called MedVet Emergency Office and was told it was an hour or so away. The lady there suggested calling Junaluska Animal Hospital since it was closer. I did and was told to come as quick as I could. The Staff and the Vet there treated Minnielee like gold. She had blood work and X-rays and I was given updates frequently. We left with several medicines and the well wishes from the Staff. They actually called the next day to make sure she was ok. Dr.'s Frankie and Roberts happen to primarily staff emergency cases which both years had to be how Carmel would be saved. This is a first class animal clinic and hospital!!!

I ended up calling several times for info, each time she was just as wonderful as the time before. If your animal is hurt and needs a surgery, don't go anywhere else. These guys know what they are doing and the surgeon is the best. I was told by another vet that my puppy's leg has to be amputated. This vet did a surgery, and Piper runs like the wind now, with all 4 legs. Same thing happened to a neighbor whose dog was hit by a car. The local vets here said her leg needs to be amputated. This vet fixed it in no time and Luna is fine now. Not even limping. There seems to be an epidemic of some vets telling everyone that their dogs legs need to be amputated. Before you get that done, get a second opinion from this vet. He is amazing.

Our dog has been struggling with allergies for some time. We had done allergy testing at another vet and was currently doing allergy shots. No relief for our poor goldendoodle. Came in and saw Dr. Mel and he explained everything answered all my questions and throughly went over a treatment plan and prices. Some meds was based on weight and he had our large boy weighed twice just to make sure his weight was correct as this effects price. Once again the prices was given to me to make sure I was ok with them and apologized for price but to get him better this was what he needed. Long story short I have a nw dog… no itching, licking, or stinky skin, and gross ears.

Fantastic techs and doctors which are extremely knowledgeable about all types of animals and ailments! Saved our Diva dog's life Labor Day weekend 2019. Found out she is diabetic. Everyone is/was so helpful in teaching us to deal with this daunting blow! Follow-up calls when treatment is required. I miss actually seeing the techs and doctors but their Covid protocol is top notch. Highly recommend for emergency and they are now her regular vet! Updated after Aug 4, 2021 visit. Two price hikes on blood draw for glucose testing. Spend more time in parking lot waiting, with a set appointment time, for tech to take dog in and out with results in less than ten minutes. Updated after Dec 20, 2021 visit: I have always had great experiences there. Unfortunately extenuating circumstances, end of the year, corona virus and much aggravation on my part, I erroneously took my frustration out on the always friendly and helpful receptionists. My sincere apologies for this! They were able to get me a same day appointment with Dr. Alt. Lovely technician (sorry didn't get her name ~ they are working Above and Beyond!) wrote down all my needs and questions and told me Dr. Alt would come out to my car and discuss the visit outcome. Dr. Alt came out, was very thorough with explanation, apologized for situation this dang virus has us in, again and did not leave my car until he was sure I had every thing I needed! I have highly recommended Junaluska Animal Hospital since Dr. Alt and staff saved our Diva dog, Speckles' life years ago. My praise for them is ten fold now!

I highly recommend this emergency vet. When I first called late at night worried about my cat, I could tell that they were very busy, but they were very attentive and kind and took the time for me that other emergency vets in the area had not been willing to take. All emergency vets had a long wait, including junaluska animal hospital, but the woman on the phone took the time to talk to a vet to give me the best advice they could. After being informed that the symptoms my cat was having was not emergent enough for me to worry about leaving the house at midnight in a thunderstorm, the next day, I brought my cat to be seen and they were so kind, friendly and professional.

We brought my cat in after normal business hours this past weekend when our regular vet couldn't squeeze him in. Having been to emergency vet offices before, I was a bit concerned about the wait and the price. However, I was able to make an appt after-hours (his condition wasn't an emergency, just something we didn't want to wait 2 days until the regular vet returned) and there was no wait once we arrived. The appt itself only took about 25 minutes and the cost was what I expected to pay for an office visit with my regular vet anyway. Two days later, and my cat is doing great thanks to the care from Junaluska Animal Hospital!

They were wonderful with my GSP and didn’t try to throw all kinds of extra procedures and cost at us, they gave us options and explained everything in detail.. When my normally tough dog Wilson was evidencing distress resulting from consumption of inappropriate items on a recent Sunday, my regular vet was closed and the nearby emergency vet in Asheville had a wait of 8-10 hours before he would be seen. I called Upstate Vet and from the moment the receptionist picked up the phone we were treated with efficiency, care, and professionalism. When we arrived at the office, Dr. Emmanoui ("Dr. Manoli") and staff made us feel most welcome and comfortable--Wilson was delighted with them all, despite his discomfort. Tests were run and the doctor made sure I understood his diagnosis and agreed with the suggested care plan. Overall a very positive experience.

We were not conclusively determain that that that was the case but the vet pretty much ruled out everything else with tests. This has been our vet for more than 10 years, and we have always been impressed with the quality of service. Our most recent experience was an exception. Positive: LOVED our new vet: Dr Sage - all positive marks for her. Cons: LONG wait time (over 30 min) to enter facility after appt time had passed. Once inside and in an exam room, there was another 15+ min delay after assistant greeted us. We were told prior to arrival that we should bring a fecal sample and have dog hold his urine for an hour prior to the appt. We did both. After the very long combined wait, our dog was in distress and had to urinate. I had to leave the exam room and get someone's attention to take him for the required sample. After the visit and payment procedure, it was evident that the fecal and urine sample were not needed after all. Wasted time on our part. I understand the challenges of staffing nowadays, but for a long-time client, it was disappointing.

They truly care about your animals and will make sure they feel at home as much as they possibly can. When we had to put my previous dog to sleep, they sent us sympathy card and they all signed it. Arrived at hospital Saturday at 9:45 pm with my dash hound that I believed was injured by a bee sting or snake bite. His front paw was extremely swollen. The physician approved and accepted his care within minutes of closing. I am truly blessed to have my fur baby accepted at this facility. If not taking him to Asheville hospital wasting time in tissue with travel time another 30 to 40 minutes. My fur baby is on a long road of recovery but thank you to the physician taking care of him. Also, giving me a follow up call the day after discharge asking about my fur baby Dash.

My grandmothers poodle, Rowdy; fell sick over night and on Sunday morning (09/29) my grandmother was scrambling to find a Vet open and willing to see him. She was told to come right on in and they’d see him. They did everything they could to help him while he was in “Doggy ICU.” They were so patient with us (hysterical and anxious obviously). They kept us updated on what was going on and what treatments they were trying the two days he was there. They gave us the call Tuesday that he may not make it, so we rushed on over. We stood right in the middle of their room because he was in the oxygen chamber. I felt like we were in the way, but no one seemed to care or bother us. We all knew the time was coming, we just were praying he’d pull through the night. We sat there for an hour and a half just talking to him. One of your Vet Techs (I REALLY wish I had gotten his name because he showed so much compassion); has brought us 4 Rolling chairs, bottles of water for us and a box of Kleenex. When Rowdy took his last breath the Doctor and one of the Techs came over and were very compassionate. They explained what happened next and continued to let us take our time. Although; it didn’t end how we obviously would have liked, overall would recommend 100 times. We’re going to make this Office our other dogs permanent vet even though it’s a 45 minute drive from our home because of how caring and knowledgeable they were. They called a few days later for me to pick up the ashes, and even then we’re so sweet and expressed sympathy for our loss. There’s nothing sweeter and better than compassion during what seems like the worst part of your life.

This was my first experience with Haywood Animal Hospital and I will say from my initial scared, concerned phone call with Lindsey to my arrival and pre-evaluation by Karen in the parking lot and then my face to face discussion with Dr. Emanouili (my apologizes if I misspelled his name) who explained the emergency and my options for care and then finally the meeting with Dannon, again in the parking lot, for discharge care and bringing my boy to me, I was unbelievably impressed and felt the love, care and knowledge that this group has for their furry patient’s and their family members. They did not rush me when I asked questions and were very easy and calming to talk to. I would most definitely recommend this group to anyone who is needing care for their four-legged babies.

Had some rough experiences moving to NC from a metropolitan location that was more focused on quality pet care. Boy am I glad my wife found this location! Not only is it clean, welcoming, and professional; but also the vets and techs are compassionate and knowledgeable. They follow up on appointments to ask how your pet is doing! What's more is the bill for services was actually reasonable and affordable despite the higher quality of care. Don't bother looking anywhere else - you can't do better for your pet than here!

Let me start off by saying I don’t typically take the time to st down and write reviews, but in this situation it is needed. Lets talk about RABBIT OWNERS. I have searched and searched and searched many places to try to find a vet place that is affordable but also experienced. I have a rabbit who is about a year old and she started to get a bit aggressive and territorial. I knew I needed to get her fixed and also for her health which bring many benefits. I called every single veterinary place in a 200 mile radius and found there to be very few places that fix rabbits, and the ones who did were SUPER overpriced; honestly to me it was insane... And then finally, when I called this place I was greeted with wonderful staff who helped answer some of my questions. I took my rabbit in and it’s been over a week since surgery and she’s doing great. Thank you so much for your wonderful service, outstanding price, and care for my pet in need. VERY happy with Dr. Sage. Molly is getting better. But I was angry and disappointed to find out that on a previous visit Molly was given vaccinations by another vet that she should never have had. Molly has serious autoimmune problems that caused here blindness (SARDS) and almost caused her death. It was noted on her record not to be vaccinated, because at least the rabies one can interfere with that autoimmune system. I have spent a considerable amount of time and money, and will have to continue doing so to get my Molly better and this should never have happened. I just hope there are no effects from this error.

Dr. Sage cried along with myself and my children as we had to say good bye to our beloved pet. She is an amazing vet and person. Most vets I have had to deal with worry more about their payment and how you are going to pay them rather than giving you comfort while saying good bye to part of your family. Last night my baby Xenon( 1year 4 months old), got into a situation that needed immediate emergency attention🤕 I called ahead 7:00pm said I was in route with her and she was bleeding BAD. Staff met me at door and she went in immediately!!! Dr. Manoli was her physician and within minutes she was wrapped, evaluated and operated on shortly after. Xenon cut her foot and severed an artery. This was definitely a life threatening injury…. She was in my car before 10pm with medicines, injury, instructions, and thanks to Dr. Manoli and staff on the mend. If their were 10 stars they get them! For a brief moment I was worried about the cost, very reasonable for service we needed and received. Thank you Dr. Manoli!!!!

Brought my dog in for a visit . I didnt know she was diabetic( she recently turned Diabetic without me Knowing ) she was acting very strange . I brought her in they told me she was diabetic and told me I have to two give her insulin for the rest of her life twice a day . Nobody told me there would be possibilities of side effects such as blindness . My dog went blind within a month . She can’t walk by herself now . Hits everything with her head . Falls sometimes . Very disoriented.Nobody gave me a warning or told me anything like this would happen . I found out because I was curious to google side effects of insulin. Thanks for helping us with the insulin but a little advice Or heads from you professionals would had helped a lot . I also called and explained my situation and you didn’t apologize or anything . The receptionist told me “ yeah it happens sometimes” And told me to have a nice day . Make sure to ask as many question as you can while your there .

I initially called the Friday night, but was told by a vet tech not to worry unless my cat didn't drink/eat. Eventually I got so worried, I came here with my cat at about 9pm the next night. I called before hand so they would know I was on my way. Without GPS I wouldn't have found it, the light on the sign is not working. There isn't any direction of where to go, so I ended up wandering to the side of the building before I realized the other door was still open. There wasn't anyone at the desk, but I eventually did see the sign to buzz the door open. I was greeted very quickly by a woman (forgot her name) and she asked if this was Rebecca. I said yes and she had me come to the counter to fill out paperwork. She said it would expedite the process but she was entering everything I was writing down into the computer. I'm just wondering if this is standard protocol? I imagine if someone came in with an animal in more serious condition that this could be done after. Paperwork should really come last. Just an opinion. Side note, there are signs posted about payment being expected up front. So just be prepared. I was lucky enough to be getting help from an organization so I didn't have to worry about that so much. She took us back into a room and immediately started taking vitals. The doctor then came in about 5-10 minutes after. Dr. Frankie is great. You can tell he really cares about the animals. He happily answered my questions, and I had a lot. This was probably the best part of the experience and why I gave it four stars. They were understaffed when I was there and I felt like I was bothering them a little bit at times. I'm just a worried cat mama though. Also, even though I didn't pay for it myself, they did tell me the total and it was a little pricey for what was done. I totally understand that it's the weekend, and at night but I think this could turn some people off and make them not seek help. The short haired girl that gave me the script seemed very happy to be there and was giving me helpful tips in regards to my cats condition. So I really appreciated that. I would go back for Dr. Frankie. I think he is passionate about what he does.

Last October my beagle Charlie was having severe neck/back pain. It was close to midnight when I got Charlie checked in. Dr Matt Frankie saw Charlie and immediately knew something was wrong. My boy was hospitalized for nearly 2 weeks. When I had nearly given up hope and was preparing to send Charlie to the rainbow bridge, Dr Frankie would not accept that as our answer. Dr Frankie would call the hospital daily to check up on Charlie, even on his days off. His wife Dr Alicia Roberts did the same, they kept cheering us on. Charlie ended up being transferred to another hospital for neurosurgery and has now made a FULL recovery. I can’t express my gratitude and overall feelings of love for these doctors and staff. Thank you all!

This place is awesome! You can trust them with your fur-babies no matter which veterinarian you see. I love that they have an emergency clinic there now too - that's so important when time is crucial so I don't have to drive all the way to Asheville. I think they are reasonably priced as well.

7/22/2019- took our Yorkie Oscar in for itchy feet, led to shots, and checkup. Dr. Dan and Nikelle were out of this world amazing. Trust me me had a million questions and they were patient and educated us on everything!!! When leaving you know you furry loved one has had the best service in the world!!!! Thank you Dr. Dan and Nikelle for the absolute best care around!!! On 6/10/2019 Our Chloe went over the rainbow bridge. Dr.Gonzalez was so kind, understanding of the pain to let her go. The nurse was amazing. I'm sorry I dont remember her name. That was a very rough day. But I cant say enough of how this wonderful place not only cared for our girl but us as well. Best experience at a vet's office ever. We have a 9 year old Norwegian Elkhound who is very leery of going to the vet ever since he had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor a few years back. I cannot say enough about how great the staff at Junaluska Animal Hospital was with him. Dr. Mike was awesome and thorough and so good with him. The vet tech, Erin, was equally as good and had no problem drawing his blood or clipping his nails (which is impossible!) You will not regret taking your pet to them. I highly recommend this office!!!!

So i take my sweet 9 year old Carley into Junaluska Animal Hospital. A little background, Carley is a yorky and has had multiple issues with her ears for many years! I noticed her ear was really bad, called and needed no appointment. Rachael, Amy, and the Dr were fantastic! What a crew, i highly recommend! Had an appt at 4pm today. I waited and called at 4:20 to see why my dog had not been seen yet. The girl who answered was very polite but had to take my info again. At 4:30 I called again and told them that as I was expecting her to be seen at 4, her appt time, I had to reschedule as I had to be somewhere else at 530. Everyone was polite and professional. There has to be a better way.

I've been going there for years but have not always liked all the vets. Some are very uncaring and seem to be there only for the money, some don't even seem to like animals but some are great. A couple of the front desk staff have been exceptionally rude - the customer is always wrong in their eyes. For the most part I've usually had no problems but when i have had them, they've been major and they just blow them off like its nothing! Some have risked my pets health and they could have cared less! on my last visit I had an emergency with one of my cats. She had to have surgery which i could not afford bbut I was not informed of financial help which I was available. She had to have the surgery aagain when the 1st surgery failed. I was told aHAWA would pay for emergency procedures aand that I just had to fill out the paperwork bbut when I came to pick up my cat the next day, I was informed that it was too late to fill oout the paperwork, that it had to be done before surgery and I had to get an estimate from the vet first. They basically tried to blame it on me saying I had misunderstood when they had told me none of this. I was then given the choice of paying half the bill if i wanted my cat back - held my cat for ransom! I had to borrow my moms credit card just to get my cat back! I've tried other vets in the area and most are way overpriced. Very few seem to actually care about my babies, So really don't have much choice but to continue coming here. Edit: They now have an Emergency Clinic from 5-12 every day which is fantastic! These vets are very caring and top of the line! The explain every detail of procedures and labs. Also some new vets at daily clinic that are really great. You can always request a specific vet but if they're not working and it's an emergency, you have to take what you can get.

You have to know me to understand what high praise this review represents. I think the world of my animals Doctors, Dr. M. Frankie and Dr. A. Roberts. As recent as this month, one of my animals has an extremely difficult health issue to diagnose. Both Doctors spent hours researching, talking to Specialists and even personally running samples to area labs for testing. Dr. Frankie kept in communication with me on his days off. No Doctor is perfect but Dr. Frankie and Dr. Roberts come close to walking on water as far as their care of my animals goes. The Vet Techs have been phenomenal and caring. Wonderful care whether it's emergency or routine.

I'm really thankful for their emergency hospital that's open late. They took my lab in when she was sick, and unfortunately ended up finding tumors. They just stopped what they were doing and immediately called down to Upstate vet in South Carolina and got us set up with the oncologist there.
