Reviews of Tier 1 Veterinary Medical Center

We had a walk in appointment last night at 5 pm. Our sweet kitten (who we thought was a girl ) was getting worse from an illness we thought he could recover from at home. We checked in after 20 minutes but couldn’t wait inside due to his sneezing. I had my two girls with me 4 & 6 years old and no one seemed to care they were running around outside and playing. We ended up being there for about 6 hrs. I’m patient and understand that there are emergencies coming in. The lady over the phone let me know there could be a long wait time so make sure you call and check. The nurses and Dr Todd took excellent care of our kitten got him blood tests & medication & fluids even brought us in food and a litter box when i asked for it. Everyone was super kind. My girls were wayyyy past bedtime and everyone was really understanding because they were being super loud and silly. I had no choice to bring them with me so it is a really nice feeling to feel welcomed and that the environment was family friendly. He’s back to his happy self this morning! Now we get to pick a new name for him :)

I brought my dog, Bucky, in as a walk-in over the weekend and was fortunate to have a short wait time. Dr. Sara worked swiftly to diagnose and begin treating Bucky, who was in kidney failure. He stayed at the clinic for two nights and during that time I got multiple daily updates on how he was doing and what the next steps were in his treatment. He received compassionate, high-quality care and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who had a hand in his recovery. Dr. Sara and the Tier 1 team undoubtedly saved my dog’s life.

What a compassionate place. We brought our beloved Soxy in. She had lymphatic cancer & a large tumor. The staff, technician & veterinarian were so compassionate and kind. They let us know her condition quickly, with honesty & caring. We were able to be with her to the end. I could tell she was in good hands. She was not upset or nervous. These are wonderful people that run this facility and are set up for end of life for pets with thoughtfulness. We were so heart broken, but knew she was in the hands of caring people. It made all the difference. Thank you Tier 1 for caring.

From the people at the desk who greet us with smiles to the amazing vet tech who our dog has given his heart away to, to the Dr that gave our Terrier Riley his sight back we thank you!!! We have never seen such caring staff!! We never thought our dog would be so excited to go to go to the vets office, we can barely hold him back and when he hears his special vet techs voice he goes crazy with happiness!
Highly highly recommend this place they take their time to explain everything and tell you your options. We feel blessed to have them here in this area.
We feel like we need to set up a play date just so our doggie doesn’t miss them to much.
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for all your carting and hard work that went into your education to make you all the amazing people that you are today! May God bless you all

Tier 1 is an excellent clinic that actually cares about your pet. They showed my family great empathy, gave us the tools and information to care for our pooch, and were able to see us within 2 hours of a walk-in appointment. Because of their late hours, it's also easier to get appointments for our fur babies. The front office staff are very friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a place to find care, I highly recommend this clinic. It's worth the drive for the quality of care

I highly recommend Tier1 - we live in anchorage and have had nightmare experiences trying to get our dog seen at urgent care clinics for her symptoms that were alarming (waiting 6+ hrs, never getting seen at all despite them telling us we were “next”, astronomical prices, etc).
We decided to drive to Palmer to Tier1 because I read good reviews and they live true to them. The clinic is beautiful and clean, super friendly and caring staff - same day walk/in waited only 45 minutes total, knowledgeable doctor, and very fair rates. Very happy and impressed with my overall experience.

I feel it necessary to share a review on one of the hardest days of our lives. Our precious fur baby needed to be seen and they were able to see him rather quickly. Unfortunately they had to deliver the worst news ever but the entire staff were kind, compassionate, and managed our situation with professional care. They allowed us to grieve in private and ensured we had a quick check out and exit. I'm going to be forever grateful to this team who allowed us to be with our old friend in the end so he could know how much he was loved during his short time on Earth.

A couple of nights ago I brought my rabbit in because she had stopped eating drinking and pooping. We realized that she ate part of a packaging that had likely caused her to go into GI stasis. This can be very deadly in rabbits. Dr. Alce and Dr. Vollaro don’t specialize in rabbits but were more than willing to use all the knowledge they had to get my rabbit Willow back to her normal self. We hospitalized her for 12 hours on iv fluids and they prescribed some pain and gut motility meds. I brought her home yesterday and she is eating, drinking, pooping and is hopping around like her normal self!! Dr. Vollaro, Dr.Alce and all the hospital technicians who helped ( Rebecca, Brittany, and April) did so amazing and I’m so thankful Tier 1 was there when My rabbit needed them :)

Most amazing veterinary clinic I have ever visited. They treat my sick old pup like royalty. Kind, competent, understanding, and very, very good vets and staff. I will never take my fur babies any place else. I'm so happy I found them. THE BESTEST.

I had to bring both of my girls to the vet for separate issues a little less than a year apart. The doctors were both fantastic, compassionate, and proactive. Unlike a certain Eagle River clinic, they did not try to sell me products they didn’t need and took care to not pile on fees with unnecessary lab work. We waited to be seen around 1-2.5 hours for each of my girls. The wait time at other local Anchorage pet ER’s was 8-12 hours. After my baby girl’s •former• local Eagle River vet refused to treat a UTI that persisted for more than a MONTH, the kind docs at Tier 1 fixed the issue immediately with the appropriate antibiotics. I am very thankful there is one clinic in Alaska that cares about its patients. It’s clear the vets at Tier 1 love animals. Thank you for taking my concerns seriously.

They helped my kitty kigga with surgery for an abscessed cat bite from a fight. The Dr did an amazing job and kept everything within my budget! My cat is healed up and doing amazing! Thank you to everyone at tier 1 who helped us, including the amazing front desk staff! Thanks a million!

We switched dog food, our two dogs ate their dinner, and when we woke up the next morning found multiple piles of vomit, and our girl Lily barely able to hold her head up. We called ahead to let them know what was going on, and they were waiting for us, rushed us back, did some tests, and gently gave us the news that she had a massive tumor, and her stats were dropping too fast. They were so kind and considerate while giving us our options, and even let us go get our other dog Bella so she could say goodbye. They gave us so much time with her, and we were physically and emotionally exhausted, but the staff were so kind and caring. While waiting on CT results to come in, Dr. Serratore sat us down and explained that we couldn’t wait any longer if we were going to do something. She did not sugarcoat the risks, which we really appreciated, she was so caring while explaining, and making sure we knew that surgery would be her only hope, but there was a high possibility she wouldn’t make it through the surgery. She also explained our other option of letting her go. We opted for the surgery, and went home praying our baby girl made it through. The staff, and Dr. Serratore herself were amazing at giving us updates during and after the surgery. They resected a huge part of her liver, but were able to get the whole entire tumor (which was thankfully benign). They kept her for 2 days to monitor her, but she made it through, and is a happy healthy dog, and you wouldn’t even know today that she went through all that. Tier 1 was amazing, and I can’t express the gratitude, and respect we have for their entire staff. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking such good care of a member of our family.

First time taking my dog here and can’t say enough wonderful things about our experience. Thank you all so much for taking such gentle and thorough care of my pup who’s been in pain. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, compassionate and patient which I appreciated when I was emotional myself. Thank you Kim (UT) for getting us an MRI so quickly and walking us through the process! You all are amazing!

While I was on a very long road trip with my dog up in Alaska, i had discovered a tumor on her underside that seemed to have come out of no where. I panicked and began calling every emergency vet clinic in Anchorage. I was showing up at clinics as soon as they opened in the morning hoping to get a cancelation appointment to no avail for the first 2 days. I was on every wait list. Finally i called Tier 1 up in Palmer and was put of their wait list. I was called back from one vet office, but they were under construction and the whole building was very loud and chaotic. I didnt feel safe leaving my dog there for a potential surgery. Thankfully Tier 1 called me back and i drove the extra hour up to Palmer. The vetrinarian, Dr. Wallace, went above and beyond to remain informative with me. She was compassionate in the way she delivered some really tough news, and reassured me prompt communication and information every step of the way. She did the operation herself and finished the procedure quickly enough to save me hundreds of dollars off of my original quoted price. And when the results came back in, she called me personally to tell me the great news that the bulge that developed wasnt a a tumor after all. I believe she saved me years with my dog, and i feel like i really had the experience that i needed with them every step of the way. I dont trust vetrinarians easily, but Dr. Wallace helped save us both!

This is the second time they have saved our male cat. The vet Tech. Victoria was absolutely amazing and seeing how much she genuinely cared was comforting. The mzin vet was fast acting and straight forward. I couldn't have asked for a better team. Thanks Tier 1.

The staff at Tier 1 is amazing.
I brought my cat Winchester in due to some colon issues. They got me seen quickly and took tremendous care of him. They spoke to me with care and broke down everything they were going to do before asking us for any money. Dr. McPeck was extremely kind, professional and thorough in all he did for us. We have had to go to the Emergency Pet Treatment in Anchorage the last 3 days in a row for the same issue and came to Tier 1 today for them to fix Winchester immediately and to find out Emergency Vet was only making Winchester worse each time we took him.
Thank you, Tier 1 for everything!
Tara Logsdon
Tier 1 saved my dog Roo and diagnosed the underlying Addison’s disease crisis that resulted in renal failure and nearly the loss of her life. Communication was AMAZING. Front desk staff WIZARDS. Techs beyond ROCK STARS— so caring and kind. The vets… the ones I know about… Dr. Sara McPeck, Dr. Emily Clinton, Dr. Paige Wallace, and Dr. Sabrina Wu all gave EXTRAORDINARY CARE. Dr. Bradley Schmidt…. He came in ON HIS DAY OFF to consult with Dr. Sara about my sweet Roo. I wish I knew all your names and hope that you each get a chance to see these praises of your work. NOT having to tell my 8-year-old that her puppy passed away. PRICELESS. Having the hairy little bed hog back with us. Totally worth it. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.❤️

These folks are awesome, came in late for a walk-in on a terribly snowy day when a lot of other clinics had closed and tier one was taking in other clinics cancelled emergency appts. Despite this didn't have to wait long to get my boys seen. At the end of a long day was treated courteously and the staff was very professional.

Friday of last week our Siamese kitty was diagnosed as having a possible lymphoma by our regular veterinarian. Our vet referred us to the specialty clinic at Tier 1 and left a message with them regarding the seriousness of what she had seen in our kitty. Tier 1 called us and scheduled us for first thing Monday morning. We met with Dr. Schmidt at 9:30 and he had already reviewed all of the records, labs, x-rays and other reports sent to them. He was very well versed with our kitty's health challenge of a likely cancer the moment he came in the room. I found Dr. Schmidt, and David his oncology nurse, very friendly, warm, interested in us, compassionate to our kitty and most importantly extremely technically competent in their specialty. Dr. Schmidt explained to me the approach he was suggesting for further diagnostics as well as the likely treatment options and the benefits, risks, and anticipated outcomes associated with each course of action. Throughout the conversation, he invited me to probe and ask questions. Dr. Schmidt is an incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and competent person and physician. A person would be extremely fortunate to have a personal physician as awesome as he is. For a pet to have a physician like Dr. Schmidt is the BEST possible scenario. We've begun treatment for our kitty and I'm certain that she is receiving the best possible care that she could receive anywhere in the US.

I'm not one to write reviews, but in this case,I felt I should.
My best friend, of 9 years, was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma, after some setbacks,a lot of tears and sleepless nights, I found Tier 1, and Dr.Schmidt. All the techs have been unbelievably amazing and Dr Schmidt has treated my girl with the care and compassion, she deserves and the front desk staff has been efficient and super friendly. I cant imagine the pressure and burden, being a vet or tech must bring. I could not endure the emotional toll, this profession must take on a person. I'm grateful that there are people who choose to do this and these people are the absolute best I have come across.
I see a lot of reviews about money on here. Yes, good vet care is expensive, but I don't think I've ever heard of some one entering this profession to get rich. Everyday I have with my girl is priceless, and thanks to these awesome people, hopefully we get a lot more good days.

Update: We ended up having an emergency with another cat that was life threatening, they got him in immediately and helped my son through the anxiety. Ultimately, our dear Rameses could not be helped and we decided to ease his suffering. The staff was so compassionate and took great care of us. They allowed us as a blended family to take care of the billing unconventionally. Mistakes happen and it seems that Tier 1 took care of the spots where there were concerns and improved, which is the best thing we can ask of any business.
Old review: We went in to Tier 1 after calling about my cat suddenly limping and crying in pain. The girl at the counter was nice, and lobby was friendly. But after sitting there for an hour and a half and watching animals go in and out, my husband went to ask how much longer it would be seeing as we didn't even have someone trained him. They said it would be another hour because they had some grooming appointments. I understand emergency situations more urgent than ours, but grooming? So we started calling other vets in the area, but none were equipped to handle what we were dealing with. So we continued to sit. They then proceeded to bring two dogs with suspected kennel cough come through the main lobby, even though they have a separate door for inaction cases. So to mitigate that, they brought out a spray and sprayed the entry and where the dogs walked, filling the lobby with the same chemical I am highly allergic to. I had to run out coughing uncontrollably, and couldn't even go back to sit with my husband and cat. No warning about the spray so I could get out, just started spraying. They then told my husband 10 minutes, after 20 minutes we finally left to drive to another clinic in Anchorage, where we were treated with dignity and compassion and had answers and an estimate in less time than we waited at Tier 1. It's not enough to act nice, you have to actually also care about the people and animals being treated. The girl was nice and helpful, but obviously the rest of the staff in the back was more concerned about grooming other animals. Nearly 4 hours of waiting and weren't even triaged. We gladly gave our service and $3500 to Midnight Sun Animal Hospital and would not recommend Tier 1 for anything.

Without the amazing staff at Tier 1, my dog wouldn’t be with me today. In April my pet collapsed and I took her in to the emergency department. She was severely anemic to the point where she needed an immediate transfusion and hospital stay. She had three transfusions within a couple of weeks. Because of Covid, transfusion supplies were short, but one of the amazing Doctors brought their dog in to donate blood for her. Such an act of kindness and compassion still brings me to tears. When she was hospitalized and I wasn’t able to stay with her, the wonderful staff there gave her so much love and always answered my calls and questions. I’ll never be able to thank them enough for saving my best friend.
Beth Claiborne
Incredible office of professionals from front to back. Dr McPeck and all his care and compassion are unsurpassed. My two best friends are living quality of life because of he and his staff. Highly recommend.
Hannah Paine DeLoach
No one looks forward to late-night emergency vet visits when your regular vet's office is packed solid, but that is part of life sometimes. We were referred here when our regular vet couldn't see us. The staff at Tier 1 was very kind, but also clear about wait times and costs--no surprises, which is a real gift in an urgent care situation. The wait was made easier by nice waiting room/facilities. We still were seen earlier and paid less than we planned to. The vet was so sweet and not at all rushed or tired when she saw our cat at 9:30 on a Tuesday night! 😅 Our senior cat really needed those antibiotics and our family is grateful places like this are around.
We will be back

Hands down they saved my pup when we had an emergency. I called ahead and their triage team took him as soon as I walked in.
The staff was knowledgeable, had the meds needed on hand and went to work right away. They had state of the art procedures and were current with recent information and data regarding options and treatment plans.
I know people have commented about costs but I can say that they were more concerned about saving my puppy than getting the money as soon as I walked in. Even when all was said and done, the bill was about a 1/4 of what I was expecting.
My husband is retired military and said it was clear that they have the same procedures and efficiency of the military and how they handled their working dogs. It’s that efficiency that makes them so successful in times of emergency!
The staff was caring, supporting and genuine. Even when we went for follow up visits, the atmosphere was welcoming even among the other customers that were also clearly happy to be patrons of this clinic.
Hands down, none of my animals will be going anywhere else for their care.
Laura Smith
The kind and caring personnel that sit at the front desk make you feel like someone really cares about your animal and you. Recently I had my dog seen, who I knew was dying of cancer, but they understood where I was coming from. They’re kind and gentle words, and understanding made it easier in an extremely stressful situation. The vet or vet technician whom I saw with my animal understood and reassured me they would do the best that they could do under the circumstances. I knew at that time I had my precious old girl at the right place with the right people.
John Stark
Dr. Wallace is amazing! She and the crew at Tier 1 have saved the lives of two of our dogs. One, an 11 year old Dutch Shepherd that decided to consume part of a rug. The second, a rescue we took in that was starving and upon further inspection was shot in the head. In both cases, the entire staff was professional and even helped to mitigate the costs where they were able. The Vet techs made sure we left with clear aftercare instructions and answered any questions we had. The facility itself is clean, modern and comfortable. Most importantly, both dogs are doing well. I most certainly recommend Tier 1. I also like the fact that it’s veteran owned.
Thank you all for your service!
Sarah Hellmann
I had rushed my pug Boo to Tier 1 and they immediately had someone out making sure she was stable. Boo was attacked by another dog but this tech said she would be fine waiting. As we were waiting the BEST vet tech came out and recognized Boo right away. Haley is literally the absolute best vet tech/ person. It means the word to me when my baby is recognized because that means they know her and what she's all about. Haley was back with Boo getting work done and she brought Boo out to me after. I am always extremely impressed with Tier 1 but last night Haley made this traumatic experience much more do able. HANDS DOWN BEST VET TECH EVER!!!

Tier 1 Veterinary Center has provided excellent care for my dog Triton. Since the removal of his tumor last year, Dr. Schmidt has given comprehensive advice on how to manage treatment for my dog's cancer. When Triton had problems with the drugs, Tier 1 staff were right there to help us through with compassion and professional, competent care. Thank you!

Man what can I say about this place! The first time I went there was a little over a week ago. I brought my 17 year old cat in because our vet was closed. He had stopped eating and his stomach had become swollen. I was kindly greeted as soon as I came in the door and within a few minutes we were triaged. The Vet was very knowledgeable and explained to me very thoroughly what was wrong with my baby. They gave me quotes and explained every option I had with much sympathy. I ended up having to put my baby to sleep. These lovely ladies were so nice even though I was a wreck and they even sent me a card in the mail with a special note from each of them. I will never forget their kindness and if I ever get another pet I will definitely be coming to them!
Bjorn Mclir
The entire staff at Tier 1 is awesome, they all genuinely care about animals. Dr. Wallace is a wonderful physician she was a huge help to me in a difficult time. Im sticking with Tier 1 from now on for my crew of pups.

My puppy broke her leg and Tier 1 was the only veterinarian who was willing to take in new patients. I was told it was a 4 hrs wait for walk ins but when I arrived, I honestly only waited 30 mins for my puppy to be seen. My puppy required surgery and my puppy was able to get surgery the next day. Tier 1 also open their schedule up for my puppy two weeks check up appointment even though they were booked two months out! The staff was super friendly, understanding, and helpful. They treated my puppy with kindness and caring which assured me that my puppy is in good hands.
Sara Wolf
Had to take my 13 week old puppy in without an appointment. They were able to see me within an hour and were so good with her. She's fine and they gave me awesome suggestions for her bug bite! First time I've been to Tier 1 and I was glad to know they offer pet emergency services after hours.

Rudy jumped up to catch his ball as he had hundreds of times before but this time when he landed his leg, elbow and shoulder fractured in several places, it was so awful as he was in horrible pain. We rushed him to Tier 1 and with luck on our side, Dr. Vanessa Serratore, who specializes in orthopedic trauma such as this was in the office that day! She gave us an estimate to fix Rudy's leg, it was not cheap; emergency surgeries are not. Early the next morning he was in the operating room to rebuild his leg, the surgical procedure lasted many, many hours and his leg is full of hardware but the doctor did such a great job! Rudy spent the next six months in his crate, only able to come out for mere minutes each day but that is in the past! We are so thankful that Dr. Serratore was there that day, she fixed him up so well; Rudy is as good as before his accident, he may limp a bit from doing too much now & then. We feel so very fortunate that we were able to get his leg repaired rather than removed so that Rudy can hunt birds again as he was born to do. We cannot thank Dr. Serratore & Tier 1 staff enough for the awesome care that Rudy received before, during and after this accident. Thank-you, we all appreciate you.

Our 9 year-old German Shepherd woke in the middle of the night, crying in pain, with a hard stomach and arched back. We called Tier 1, described his condition and they told us to bring him in. They diagnosed him with a flipped stomach and performed emergency surgery on him. The staff was knowledgeable, caring and professional. They maintained communication with us through the day to let us know how he was doing. Our boy is home now, and healing. We are so grateful to Tier 1 for providing excellent care and saving our good boy!
LaRae Smith
Highly recommend! Took my livestock puppy in last night for an emergency visit. She had an infected eye from a recent injury. They were incredibly professional, kind and welcoming. They helped make safe accommodations for my dog while we waited for our turn, since her breed is nervous around other dogs outside their farm family. They were kind to my puppy and to me, diagnosed the problem easily, took the time to explain to me in detail what they’d discovered & gave me the meds necessary for recovery at a reasonable price. My puppy (who’s not used to being off the farm) wasn’t traumatized at all by the experience. She left, tail wagging. I’d highly recommend Tier 1 to everyone looking for veterinary needs!
Megan Bryant
Tier 1 has a fantastic staff. They always take the best care of our dogs and take the time to explain everything going on and all of our options.
Chad Aukerman
Saw my pup with a double ear infection extremely quickly and gave her great care. Very friendly and prescription prices were extremely affordable.

We really like that Tier 1 has a walk-in option as well as appointment times. They were up front about the fact that we might have a long wait when we came for a walk-in, we ended up getting seen much sooner than they said it could be but appreciated them being honest. All the staff have been friendly, courteous and are comfortable around our animals. The fact that our animals are instantly comfortable around the techs and vet makes us even happier. Dr. Wallace was super at our visit yesterday, even discussing tough topics we could feel how much she truly cares about people's pets. Highly recommend Tier 1 for quality vet care!
Kimberly Delph
We had an emergency with one of our dachshunds just before Tier 1 closed for the night. She had an abscess and one side of her face was extremely swollen. The clinic was amazing, stayed after hours to treat her and made sure she was stable. The follow up visit was just as professional. After she had healed we had to have some of her teeth removed that was causing the problem, as well as a cleaning, we decided to use Tier 1 again because of the care she had received before. They took such good care of her again with the teeth removal, so much so that we have an appointment for our other dachshunds with them as well to have her teeth cleaned there. Thank you, Tier 1, for being so professional and caring with my (12 year) baby girl.

I really like that this place is open for late hours. They have a nice staff but constantly changing. The environment is clean and the outside exercise area is great. I thought we had found the perfect place and now I see that they recycle doctors. So our actual doctor became a new one without them calling or asking us if a new choice could be arranged since they chose to get rid of a husband and wife team of doctors, (that we chose because of the type of care our pets need). They need to ask patients before they just change their doctor before their scheduled appointment. They routinely get rid of doctors and bring new ones in for six months at a time usually. It's hard to establish trust in care for pets when you get new doctors so frequently. Nice friendly receptionists but hold time on the phone is constantly long. Setting up a call back system would be helpful for them.

this was a tough time for our family. your staff was kind and supportive. Although I expected to see a holistic vet for support of our ill pet, we met a wonderful lady, Dr. Alce and her technician. She was open and kind. they even asked someone who was off that day to come in and see us. we were hoping to find some options to help our very ill family member. I knew in my heart it was time to say goodbye. they helped the experience be a little less painful. thank you from the bottom of our hearts...

My long haired cat was having some cleanliness issues and needed his back end cleaned up, icky I know. Called every to get him in. Tier 1 said I could come in as a walk in, little spendy but I got there at 8am the following morning and was seen promptly. Just want to say the staff was very friendly and professional. The groomer came out and gave me some tips. Highly recommend and Mr. Thor is a clean, happy kitty!
Angie Robinson
I am so pleased with the care my pets receive here. My husband and I love our pets very much and want the best we can give them, Tier 1 is definitely the best. Our girl Layla has seen the ophthalmologist and his team, they are amazing! So caring, and gentle with her. Always answered any questions we had or cleared up any concerns.
Groot and Woodrow, our boys went for vaccinations and a quick check up, they are big rambunctious boys and the little vet tech was such a trooper, loved her. The veterinarian that took care of the boys was an absolute doll. Kind, gentle, and caring. The front desk girls are very polite and pleasant. I won’t take my babies anywhere else. Highly recommended.

I took my dog there after he suffered an eye injury. We were able to walk in and get an appointment with the Ophthalmologist quickly. The doctor was very thorough, and it cost less than expected. Highly recommend this vet!

Went took our Pooch in at 5pm with what we thought was a starting of twisted intestine, what it turned out to be was a spinal problem. Dr. Wallace expertly diagnosed the problem and we are very grateful our Daisy is recuperating well. She is not used to being confined but on advice of Dr. Wallace she needs rest as she is a jumper and a runner. we had a four hour wait but the place was packed and all animals were be triaged, Daisy was not bleeding or dies so we knew we were at the end of the list. But what I noticed nobody was rushed everyone received the time and attention they needed. Thank you Dr. Wallace and Tier 1 for always being there when we need you.

I've been to Tier 1 a few times since moving to the valley. Between 1 dogs chronic UTIs, another one straining his leg, my my old dog with a plethora of problems they've always been great. The front staff, techs, and vets all obviously care about the animals and it shows. Especially my old dog who's almost 14- they were so gracious when I showed up ugly crying in an emergency and took him straight back. It is an emergency place so sometimes it can take a while- but the quality of the care and the empathy (both to the animals and their owners) is unparalleled. Thank you Tier 1!

All interactions from the front desk staff to the techs, to the docs have been positive for my dog and myself. Their facility is modern and beautifully arranged with a large fenced area for play and pre-appointment bathroom breaks. We have used many of their services including nail clippings (my dog has black nails making it difficult to avoid the quick), travel certificates, vaccinations, acupuncture and surgery. My dog looks forward to visiting and I feel very fortunate to have such a quality and comprehensive animal hospital in our community.

So you wake up on Saturday morning and your best friend, reliably waiting for you at the front door every morning for 8 years is not there, not chaffing to go out and start his day. He is laying g on his bed, eye glazed and looking grim. He barely wags his tail as you call his name. You realize two things; your dog has never been sick and since you moved a few months ago you have not gotten a new vet. This is a bad feeling. You call a few veterinarians, they can see you next week or this evening at best, but your friend is sick now. Then you call Tier 1. "Bring him in."
This is a nice place but more importantly, it is full of people who demonstrate compassion and competence when your worried about a member of your family. My buddy is still on the mend but I am so grateful for their care, compassion and frankly for their transparent pricing. They are great; I trust them with my family.

6 Days since Greer’s Emergency Spine Surgery where she lost some function of her hind end : she is looking amazing! Our corgi girl is quite the trooper and is handling everything better than her parents. Tonight she happily got out of her kennel, eyes bright, tail WAGGING, and ready to go on her short walk of the yard. Her balance is better, her stride is better, and her standing strength is getting better. We still have a long road ahead, but seeing the fabulous progress in only six days is incredible! Looking forward to what rehab at Tier 1 will bring out for her. Dr. Wallace made sure we understood all of our options and after surgery when Greer was ready to come home Dr. Wallace made sure we had the things to give her the best possible support and care at home.
HUGE THANKS to Drs Wallace and Serratore (surgeon) and their entire team of techs and office staff. Offering the best diagnostics, imaging (MRI), treatment options, with an emergency surgery with a tight timeline to get the best possible outcome for our girl… Tier 1 Veterinary Medical Center Veterinary Medical Center is a blessing for our family.

We had to make the heart wrenching decision to put or old sweet girl down on October 30th. When I called to make the appointment, they said to just come in and when we did, we were met with a very compassionate staff. When that awful time came for the doctor to put her to sleep, she was gentle and kind to an old and very sick dog. We wanted to take her home to be buried and they were very respectful of our wishes to have here wrapped up in a blanket and wearing her favorite purple sweater. I just wanted to say, "Thank you". As a fellow business owner, I know that when people make reviews, they never know the real story behind every situation good or bad, and unfortunately, we only tend to hear or read about the bad. I just wanted to take the time to say I really appreciate everything that happened that sad afternoon. Having that moment go very smooth and quick really help us say or final good-bye.

This isn’t my normal vet but it would be if my dog wasn’t going to her vet her whole life (13 years). This is the second time I had to take my dog to Tier 1 for an emergency. Every one of their staff goes above and beyond. I’m beyond grateful with their professionalism and empathy.
Josh Wammock
It is my opinion that when it comes to taking care of my whole family then the best care is all I can hope for with caring people doing the work. I feel Tier 1 has your family members in good hands and the people really care. I know that when I had to leave with paw prints that EVERYTHING was done that could be done by people who care and want to save lives.
Marmy B
I took my Rosy girl there because I could not get answers at any other vet, including my regular vet. I kept trying to explain she has neuro changes and tried to show videos to my regular vet. He was too busy to watch the 40 sec video. I went to Midnight Sun and they were baffled. I drove the 40 min to Palmer from Anchorage to get answers. Dr Bolotov came in the room, read the file, looked at my dog's blank stare and said she has a brain tumor. My thoughts exactly since I had taken care of a dog before that had a brain tumor. I really appreciated the honesty and expertise of this vet. She didn't beat around the bush and gave it to me straight with kindness and compassion. I scheduled an MRI just to see if she has a lot of time left or not. We get that done on Tues. Thanks for the wonderful staff at Tier 1. Everyone there is fantastic!
Don Bush
The folks did their very best, various options. They were also very compassionate and supportive when things failed. I'm so glad to have my other dog taken care of by them.
Jeremy Lindamood
So my 2 dogs were in a big fight over the weekend and after treating the wounds one of them began to get infected. Thank you Tier 1 for being open on a Sunday! I had never been to this vet but they treated me and my dog amazing. They put together an amazing treatment plan that worked for my budget and my dog is doing amazing. Also they followed up promptly to make sure she was doing well. I would recommend them to anybody! Will be going back to them for all my pets needs in the future.

I’ve taken my dogs to many Vets in the area and am very impressed with Tier 1. I love how clean it always is, plus they have literally everything for your pets all in one big, beautiful building including an outdoor play area. They are fair on emergency or non Appointment walk in prices which I was impressed. ( it’s the same price for either one) Dr. Brooke Wilson is amazing. I’ve seen her both times I’ve been in. She is so patient and knowledgeable and I can’t say enough positives about her. The staff are so friendly and all seem organized and confident in what they do. I’m glad I came in and will be moving our five dogs here as they need service. Thanks again.
Alex
I brought in my 12-week-old puppy for a pretty severe ear infection. I was so thankful to have somewhere to take him outside of normal business hours. The facility is lovely and everyone there was incredibly sweet, even at 5:30 AM!. I felt like Dr. McPeck and the rest of the staff really made an effort to make sure my little guy felt comfortable. It is so important for a dog to have positive experiences at the vet at such a young age so it meant a lot to me. Thanks for taking such good care of Walter!
Deanna Abbas
My dog had an abscess and they saw him that day. After exam they kept him to put in a tube. When I went to pick him up the same day he was much happier even though he came out with the cone. I was very happy that when we went back to get tube removed they accommodated to me for traffic wasn't working with me. But it only took them a couple min. To remove tube and it was included in the treatment plan so I only paid the one time. My dog loved it there. Thank you so much for fixing him.

Good first experience at Tier 1. Costs were decent, perhaps a bit more than I would have wanted but pretty consistent with a full service, almost 24-hour type of clinic in Alaska. However, the customer service (responsiveness to questions, call backs, confirmations, etc.) was top notch. Staff were friendly and welcoming and helpful. I live about an hour away and they worked to meet my needs and make it as easy possible.
Arty Fonov
We took our 2-year old Cockapoo to Tier one for a vaccine and check up yesterday, had an amazing, first-class experience from the moment we walked in. After he checked in, within a span of 30 min he saw 3 different professionals and the doctor was very generous with her time with us. Dog was happy to be there and no typical “vet scares” like we imagined there would be. TIP- schedule your first appointment instead of doing a walk-in to save a good amount of $$
Angela Kamholz
Very professional staff, and clean facility. It's expensive, but it's an emergency clinic, and I came in with an emergency at 930pm. They were very informative and upfront on costs/treatment options. I usually use All Creatures, and they do after-hours care, but are not staffed for it. A doctor must be called in. Tier 1 was fully staffed and ready to treat my very sick pup. They didn't even sound annoyed when I called for updates, and someone was always available to chat with me. My dog went from deaths door, to almost better in 15hrs with the treatment they provided. I'm very grateful. Thank you so much!
Katy Peace
Everyone who has seen my dog at Tier One has been so patient with him and understanding of his personality. They make him feel comfortable and set him up for a successful visit.
Green Degree Machen
I have brought my dog in twice now, once for a skin infection and once for seizures/night terrors. They were very friendly, caring and thorough in explaining everything regarding my pets care and what the different options were. The facility is also very clean and comfortable. After 3 years of my dog waking everyone in the house up multiple times per night screaming (still unsure if this is due to seizures, night terrors or something else) they put him on a medication that treats both. While he does still have episodes sometimes, they are greatly reduced. The house gets sleep and my dog is much more at ease.

I stopped to pick up some medicine for my buddy's dog. She called ahead, ordered the medicine, & paid for it over the phone. It's critical that this medicine be kept in a dark place, so it is not dispensed ahead of time. Even so, the wait time was short and I was soon on my way. Tier One is a very comfortable setting for an ailing pet or just routine care. There is plenty of parking and a large safe area for walking dogs, too! The care is excellent!
Ashley Oldham
Once again, Tier 1 hits a home run! They took excellent care of my pets over the last week! I had 3 pets on 3 different days and each time the care was excellent! Dr. Tegan and Dr. Wilson are always so kind and caring! The room tech’s are always great! Thank you Kim and Victoria! You always make the visits enjoyable! Keep up the excellent work Tier 1!
Paul Reed
If I could give 10 stars 🌟 I would! Being able to trust someone with your fur babies, I only trust Tier 1. ♥ they took the best care of my dog when she was impaired my a piece of metal and needed surgery and my kitty when she needed her paw amputated after being shot by a neighbors pellet gun. Horrible circumstances they helped with their above average standards of care!! I wouldn't have been able to get by any other vet in the valley and anchorage!!
Roger Heiligenthal
We called the facility on a Monday with some serious issues pertaining to our large breed dog, he was in serious pain. We were instructed to bring him to their facility the very next morning at 9:00 AM. When we arrived, we were taken care of almost immediately and our animal was admitted for observation and care to include pain management. By the end of that very same day, we were contacted TWICE by the facility about our animals condition and what the next steps would be to get him back on his feet. Now that is a very caring attitude and we are so very happy and pleased that we chose this particular veterinary care center.

I would like to thank Dr. Wallace and her staff for their professionalism and their compassion. Our beautiful dog Sadie died of cancer, everyone at Tier 1 was wonderful. They treated Sadie as if she was their own, treated us with respect and compassion. Thank you again for everything. Steve Clay, Kim Lucas.
Richard Crisostomo
There are not enough words to describe how amazing the care at Tier 1 has provided to our dog who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Schmidt, Lindsey, Aubrey, and the rest of the Tier 1 staff have gone above and beyond to ensure that our dog is comfortable and well taken care of. We are so grateful for the support Tier 1 has provided to not only our dog but to us as well.
Thank you.

Tier 1 fit my fur baby in on Christmas Eve! for an ultrasound when no other place would take her for her emergency/non-emergency ultrasound needs. I expected a long wait time being we were fit in, but we were taken care of in good timing.
The staff are very nice and have compassion, not only for your pet, but you as well. I could hear them from within our exam room in their station area happily talking to pets moving about.
The nurse we had was an all around great guy. The doctor was thorough in explaining his findings. He drew pictures of location and surrounding organs affected, he even wrote out the names of all the medical jargon he was using and explained them so we could understand.
The facility was very clean, smelled nice, and had a very bright vibe about it, no matter what section I had been taken into, just all around joyful place. The facility and the staffs attention to our fur baby was impeccable. I couldn't ask for her to be tested and treated at a better clinic. Even though it's a forty minute drive from our home; I am changing my baby's vet to one at Tier 1. Honestly, I feel like the speciality clinic and the vet/oncologist she is seeing and his staff are heaven-sent. I say that with tears of gratitude welling up in my eyes.
DaynaMcNeal
I went there as a late night walk in for a pet health certificate. They seemed really busy for how late it was but nonetheless everyone from the front desk to the vet and tech were friendly and professional. Everything went smooth from start to finish. The clinic is very clean. It doesn't smell like a typical vet office. (And they had free snacks).
Stephanie Berge
Good people that care and work hard. Can tell they work as hard as they can, as fast as they can to care for every pet. Sometimes a long wait is necessary secondary to the patient volume. Human owners need to remember that and have patience and respect for the team.
Kylie Greenstreet
Tier 1 provided our family with exceptional care when our Mal broke her leg. We were seen many times over the course of our dogs recovery and every time she was seen their staff was caring and knowledgeable. They provided us with different options for her treatment and educated us about each option before allowing us to choose the right one for our family/budget. Our dog is healthy and stronger then ever and we can’t thank Tier 1 enough for that!
Their clean and advanced facility is exactly what the Valley needed!
Charlie Morse
Tier 1 has been nothing short of outstanding when it has come to the care of my pup.
They were able to diagnose his underlying condition, and were happy to choose a route to diagnosis that was cost-effective and saved money for treatment.
Their oncology department, Dr. Schmidt, shot me straight from the beginning about my dog's condition, and took the time to follow up with a phone call and explain things in depth after I'd had some time to process all the information he gave me.
All of the staff has been caring, professional, and courteous... and they've gone the extra mile to make sure that this overthinking Dog Dad can be armed with all information and expert opinion.
You can tell they're all pet owners themselves, and they're able to sympathize with the situations you find yourself in.
seth shacklett
So unfortunately I arrived when Tier 1 was absolutely slammed and pretty close to standing room only, so I understand they were extremely busy.
However the quality of care itself was excellent especially when the Dr. appeared to be training a new person and offers advice like " you distract the bitey end" when administering rabies vaccinations, which is a pretty amusing and accurate way of putting it.
I'll always prefer to use Tier 1 due to their familiarity with Belgian Malinois that some other places have had trouble with in the past.
Hannah Kasimoff
Dr. Schmidt is an outstanding oncologist! He was very thorough when explaining chemo therapy options for our dog and he made sure we understood everything before making a decision. Most doctors won’t give an opinion on what they may do in our situation (which I understand they may not want you blaming them if you feel you made the wrong choice) but he did and for that we are grateful! All of the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming as well!
Kim lucas
My husband and I brought our dog Sadie in as an emergency. They placed her on a gurney as she couldn’t walk, and took her to see the Veterinarian Dr Wallace. She and the entire staff couldn’t have been more knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate. She had a ruptured spleen, and cancer. We chose to let her go. We can’t thank them enough for the loving care they provided, Thank you, Kim Lucas, Steve Clay and Sadie.
Dave Burgess
I had a Saturday emergency and they were able to fit me it and take care of my dog nicely. That's to be expected but they were the only ones in town and I had read some bad reviews so I was worried how it was going to go during billing. As I expected there was a discrepancy in billing and the total cost came in much higher than estimated. I expressed my thoughts on it but I had no choice and paid anyway. Later that evening they called me and said that they heard there was a problem so I explained my point of view. They immediately offered a refund for the difference. They've won my trust now. Great Vet care and ethical business practice.
Cathy Groves
I have had three different dogs into Tier one on one occasion or another. I have always been treated very courteously and professionally by all the staff members.
On another occasion my daughter had her German Shepherd in with a very critical condition and Dr. Wallace was able to save him.
I love that they are open later into the evening since there are no 24 hour emergency clinic in the valley.
Great animal care by a very caring staff.
Hayley Woods
We came home from a long trip where we had been traveling for 12 hours and got home to find that our dog had been injured while we were away. They got us is right away, fixed our pup up and kept him long enough for us to get some sleep before coming back to pick him up. The entire staff was professional and even better, they were loving to our good boy. We will definitely be back.
Aimi Shilanski
I can’t say enough how much I love it here! Each time I have had to bring my dogs in everyone has been super friendly and gotten them taken care of quickly! My boxer had a deep scratched cornea that required it to be sewn shut for a few weeks. The doctor was super gentle and I felt comfortable with him, but more importantly my dog was comfortable. We went back to have stitches removed and we had the same experience! Everything was great and my dogs eye was back to its normal beautiful self! I will never again take for granted looking into his big brown eyes!
Mariah Jerman
Our elderly cat got very ill late on Saturday. We went to Tier 1 as a walk in, while the wait was long the quality of care was amazing. They were able to run all of the tests in house and able to provide us with comfort when the hard decision was made to put him to sleep. The kindness of all of the staff was above and beyond. We will continue with them as our primary vet for our dogs.
Danica Caldwell
Outstanding experience. The best veterinary care I have ever had any of my pets receive. From my initial phone call to taking my dog home, the care, professionalism and customer service was excellent. We were so impressed with Dr. Wallace and the entire team that helped us.
Joshua Hubbard
The team and facilities are truly “Tier 1!” From the moment I brought Leo in, the staff was responsive, efficient, and compassionate. I didn’t have an appointment, as Leo had ingested a toxic substance and had to be seen immediately. The Tier 1 team quickly obtained the appropriate labs and administered IV fluids.
After the amazing care that both Leo and I received, we will be going to Tier 1 for all of our veterinary needs.
Heidi Wild
Hands down the best veterinary medical center I have ever been to!
My Labrador wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the doctors at Tier 1. Not only did they save her life but they have continued to provide exceptional, continued care for her.
No matter who I see, I get top level service and am appreciative of how they strive to make sure I have a good understanding of everything that is happening and costs associated with each decision.
As a remote fishing guide in Bristol Bay they even visit with me before the season starts to make sure I have medications, supplies and a “what if” plan for when we are in the bush where there are no veterinarians.
AK Bio
We brought our 5 yo cat in for a consultation after receiving a metastasized lymphoma diagnosis by our regular vet in November, 2020. Despite being booked up, Dr. Schmidt made time because of the poor prognosis for our cat. During our visit, he provided all the information and choices we could have ever needed and was attentive to our personal goals with our cat's quality of life. He was extremely accommodating and we were able to leave the same day with a solid diagnosis and game-plan for treatment. This was the first big breakthrough in helping our own stress about the premature death of our cat. Huge thanks to Dr. Schmidt and his team during an already difficult time.
Kathleen Combs
the most compassionate vet that I have ever been to, I had to euthanize my dog and was a MESS, screaming and crying and they treated me with the upmost respect and empathy they could. They made sure she went as peacefully as possible and did the best they could to save her while making sure she went peacefully and happily rather than during surgery. I could not recommend this vet more.
Cirena Smith
Th staff at Tier 1 were very helpful in getting our older dog into a room and understanding our wishes for end of live concerns. They treated us and our dog with respect and let my husband take as much time as he needed to say goodbye to his dog. It was a hard day for our family and they made it much easier to deal with. We are thankful!
Kelli Landrum
Super impressed with the care provided by specialist Snyder, ophthalmologist and his assistant Audrey. Everyone has been polite, friendly and professional. I would recommend Tier 1 Veterinary Medical Center.
Greg Stocker
My dog can be grumpy, especially when he doesn't feel well. Tier 1 has helped him out every time he has needed it. As a concerned pet owner I appreciated the explanations provided, resources available at the facility as well as the opportunity to bring my guy in during the middle of the night when he had an emergency. I feel better as a pet owner knowing I have such a quality resource locally.
Mary Fulton
My regular vet was backed up so after one of their vet techs confirmed my dog needed stitches, I took her to Tier 1. The CSRs up front were friendly and compassionate. The tech and vet were kind and professional. The facility is beautiful and clean. Overall, despite my pup needing stitches (actually received staples) it was a good experience. Thanks Tier 1.

Had we not made an appointment with Dr Schmidt, we would have still been asking other Vets here in Anchorage a year later, with our hands in the air (palms up), saying "whats going on?". The first diagnosis/prognosis we had was very dire indeed, yet our dog seemed better now than over the past nine months. The Diagnosis from Dr Schmidt differed from our other Vet but did not differ from the pathology. He just read it correctly to us and we are coming up with a, very reasonable, treatment plan and we feel we will have the our bestest buddy for years to come, not weeks or months. We probably have a special case, I admit, but had we not had this check up we would still be confused a year from now as to why our dog is still doing so well. He was very methodical in his diagnosis and did an extremely good job lining out the differences of what we think our dog has. I will admit a few different colors for the white -board markers would have made this the most wondrous and magical event we have had in a very log time (humor).
CCC C
Dr. Bradley Schmidt and Technician David were exceptional to provide ultrasound exam on our canine as urgent referral. Ms. Brittany (front office) made the check-in as new patient a smooth process. We are very appreciative that Tier 1 Veterinary Medical Center is available especially during the holiday season and it was possible for our pet to complete a critical advanced imagery test. Again, thank you Dr Schmidt -- your expertise, recommendation, guidance, and gentleness was outstanding.

We had a great experience tonight! Our beagle, Daisy Mae, was not acting like herself at all. She was shaking and yelped when I picked her up. Took her in at 2200, and we had excellent service. Daisy Mae ended up being fine, and I was pleased that the vet did not order unnecessary tests and rack up a bill! Susan, the tech, was very sweet with Daisy Mae as well as the vet. I would highly recommend.
Alan Fox
Took great care of our 5 year old Alaskan Malamute when she had a foot injury. Provided prompt excellent service, an accurate quote and follow up. They have been our Vet for two years Veteran owned business. A modern operation providing 24hr services.

My cat was recently diagnosed with cancer and I was referred here for chemo planning. The vet spent way more time with me than I expected. Was super kind and explained everything, being brutally honest with me. When I had more questions he called me after hours and spent more time with me on the phone. I feel totally prepared now to start the chemo process. First dose is tomorrow. So grateful to have a place that is so experienced to care for the best cat in the world.
Vicki Lewis
The staff were very kind, explained and warned about delays and were kind and gentle with our dog’s care when we brought her in with a traumatic injury. When our surgery was delayed due to multiple emergency cases and multiple surgical cases, they called to update us, and then the veterinarian called and debriefed on her procedure even when she didn’t finish until 1:30 in the morning. They then kept her overnight for no extra charge so I didn’t have to pick up in the middle of the night. I feel based on my medical experience as a hospital RN that they are doing an exemplary job triaging patients but still trying to balance meeting every patient’s needs. The medical care was top notch. Thank you Tier One and Dr. Alce for taking the time to explain and take our concerns seriously. The Lewis Family
Patrice Hensley
Great customer service! Totally helped my dog who was injured on NYE. We were visiting the valley. Originally from here but live in CA now. We had no idea where to go. Local neighbors didn't know about this location and our local vet couldn't help. Highly recommend. We wish google showed this location on the first search. Dr. Sarah helped so much!
Kris Tibbitts
The staff is great. The vets and surgeon that I was dealing with are super awesome. Really. I will start with that. But as another posted, it is definitely feels that money is priority here. I have no idea when I stopped putting "deposits" on "estimates" and just finally got a bill. I know it's business, but what a weird way to do things. A little frustrating when dealing with your badly injured little puppy. I guess they have to pay for the "magical stones that represent the eternal strength of the infinite universe". Or whatever it said it the "look how amazing we are" video playing in the lobby. A little tip. No one wants to hear you say a how amazing you are, just be amazing. But seriously. Thank you sooooo much to the staff that took such great care of my puppy.
Kelsi Espelin
We became established patients at T1 after moving back to Wasilla this year.
I have been very impressed with the level of service and quality of care we have received for all of our animals (adult dog, puppy, two cats). We have been especially pleased with Dr.Wilson and make every effort to schedule with her when possible. When we’ve seen the other providers in the clinic we have also received top of the line care. Our concerns are heard and addressed. The reception staff are great and I’ve never seen them treat people (even rude people) with anything but compassion.
We are in the middle of managing and treating an injury in our adult dog and the experience has been positive so far.
It’s sad to see all the negative reviews from people that are almost always due to financial issues. Emergency care is expensive. Owning an animal is expensive.
Honestly I am shocked by the people that don’t have the credit rating to obtain care credit or the like and then are upset by tier 1 not offering payment plans. You can’t get credit cus you don’t pay your bills, why should T1 take on that risk?? When someone defaults on their account it drives prices up for the rest of us. Further, we’ve found T1 to be significantly cheaper than the other emergency options that are available.
I have not once felt like I was blindsided by pricing or cost of care. T1 has been open with estimates and provides several treatment options whenever possible. Vet care is expensive, but we took on that responsibility when we became pet owners.

My dog had an emergency. They were kind and courteous upon arrival. They were kind to my dog who is neurotic 😀. They did a quick exam, determined she needed stitches , gave me a price and time. They did the job quicker than expected and less than what I expected. I was given clear instructions on home
Care and medications. My dogs wound healed beautifully and she is once again her healthy neurotic self 😀
Carol Croteau
This was my first experience with Tier 1, and Gabriel was absolutely wonderful. All staff seemed top notch and they were compassionate as I was dealing with the death of my dog. I will definitely be making this my vet for my other 2 dogs. The place was super clean too.
Pat Smith
Probably one of the nicest vet clinics.. pleasant people in the office .. vet technician are very nice .. the vets are supper nice and informative ..everyone seems to want you to have a Pleasant appointment - very compassionate -caring- nice place always clean

I was very impressed with this wonderful establishment! My little Yorkie was attacked by an eagle and they took him in immediately. They were very thorough on keeping me updated as to what they wanted to do and why they wanted to do it that way. They wanted to keep him overnight to assess him which made me nervous. I didn't want to leave my little guy. The doctor was still there at 1100 p.m. and called to let me know she had finished with him and he was doing well. I very much appreciated her willingness to do that, especially when I didn't know she was going to. They were also very transparent with pricing. Everyone from the doctor to the staff was very professional, caring, and sincere! I will most definitely be using these guys in the future! I couldn't imagine taking my little guy anywhere else and I will tell anyone and everyone the same thing!
Thank you Tier 1!
Heather Reiss
Took my cat here after an attack from the neighbors cat left punctures that got infected. The staff are kind a professional; they are very up front with estimates and very informative concerning the how’s and whys behind care options. In our case our cat ended up needing care that came in on the lower estimate so I can confirm that you are not guaranteed the higher of the estimated price range; you are guaranteed the exact treatment they deem appropriate once they get into the nitty-gritty of your animals injuries/illness. We’ll continue to bring our animals here.
Kim Sabel
It's a shame that most of the bad reviews are in reference to money. I was a vet tech for over 20 years and here's reality. Veterinarians get out of school with as much or more debt than a physician. Their starting salaries are usually less than a physician; they rarely work an 8 hour day...lots of overtime with no additional compensation; the equipment is expensive and needs to be paid for, same for support staff salaries. Currently, there is a major increase in veterinarian suicide for all of this financial pressure, burnout, and compassion overload.
I checked out this place months ago and was impressed. I love my current vet but I am relieved that I don't have to drive to Anchorage for after hour emergencies. Having this facility available 24/7 comes with a huge price tag.
I no longer work for a vet and that means no employee discount. Therefore, Trupanion Pet Insurance and a Care Credit card mean my rottweilers get all the care they need. I highly recommend both. Understand that PETS COST MONEY, so be responsible for your pets or don't own any!
This tirade comes from my reading of these reviews as I contemplate a potential after hours emergency this weekend. Once again, that evil Alaskan grass, that must be very tasty, has been consumed despite my best efforts to keep the dogs away from it. Hopefully this will pass; if not, I will head to VCA Big Lake or Tier 1, and I will appreciate both clinics being available for me and my dogs. The bottom line, veterinary care is a business that needs to be paid for.

I really appreciate the excellent medical attention, deep compassion, and positive attitudes shown to me and my dog, Loki, by the awesome staff at Tier 1. Loki was diagnosed with lymphoma and the staff was really great. It's such a challenging thing to go through, so emotional and personal, but Dr. Schmidt did a great job presenting our options with no pressure. We especially appreciate David, Loki's oncology nurse, who consistently put us at ease with his upbeat attitude and tenderness towards Loki.
Kristine
My.dog, Angel, has been an oncology patient of Dr. Schmidt and his awesome team since March 2019. She has been battling nasal carcinoma and has been on different treatment plans, to include five different chemotherapy drugs. Due to many, many visits for treatment, etc., I have always felt the techs, David and Lindsey, along with Dr.Schmidt have the utmost respect, kindness and sincere care for Angel. I highly recommend anyone to see them for any specialized or oncology care. These people love their job and it shows in how they treat and care for your pet and also you. Is it expensive? Sure it is. With visits, treatment and medicine, I'm out around $13k but it's well worth it for top notch care and to have been able to give her more time on this Earth. That just doesnt have a price tag when it is a family member.
Renee Everhart
Everyone at Tier 1 from the front desk to the doctors are always professional, knowledgeable and compassionate. I have a dog that had a difficult to diagnose condition, and I feel like they saved her life and she has been stabilized for years since. Everyone there loves animals, and it shows.
Michael Vaillancourt
I had brought one of my Furry Kids (Optimus) in on 17 August for an Emergent visit, they took him right in. I was very impressed with the Cleanliness of the entire Facility, the Facility itself and the Staff!
I NEED to give a big thank you to Dr. Wallace and CSR Caroline for their Compassion and attentiveness, so, thank you both, very, very much, you both helped make my situation with Optimus bearable.
Christopher Loscar
I brought my dog to Tier 1 yesterday evening for an eye issue. The staff were all polite and professional and he was seen promptly. Dr. McPeck took the time to review and discuss the diagnosis and treatment options. I am very happy with the care my dog received and would definitely recommend Tier 1.
julia harry
Dr. Wu and all the techs kept my dog Sgt. Puppers so comfortable all day yesterday. He is so happy not to have that mass on his leg anymore, THANK YOU!!!
Diane O'loughlin
The staff are wonderful at communicating and making you feel your pet is a priority. The medical care my dog received was excellent which aided in her speedy recovery!
David Dorsey
Very professional, very sincere. Taking really good care of my Lucy during her battle with cancer. Dr. Schmidt and his staff explain things very easily to understand and completely. Gave all options to allow me to make the proper decision. I’m very confident that she’s receiving the best care possible.
Sunshine Meitzner
I have been here a couple times for emergency walk-in and follow-up bloodwork. They are great on the phone for scheduling. The vet has taken alot of time with me in-person and on the phone to listen and discuss results and what to do next. The facility is clean and staff is friendly.
Jeff Devon
The staff here are some of the kindest people that I have met. I had an emergency with my 2 month old puppy and everywhere in the valley was closed! Luckily I called Tier 1 and was able to get him in. They took me in and got me a room literally a minute before they were supposed to close. The staff was so kind and calm and the pup was fixed up in minutes! Tier 1 has definitely won my business.
Toni Glasen
This vet has been amazing to my family in the last week, did an emergency c section on my cat on monday. She got great care and is doing awesome. Then today took in my moms dog that has severe allergies. She has taken him to other vets and they have charged her over 2500 in Bill's to tell her he has allergies and hasnt done much more. Tier one is totally running cultures, cleaning his sores that he gets from allergies and giving him antibiotics. So we can hopfully get a handle on it :). I am very please with them and there service
Samantha Marlin
I have never experienced such care, compassion or concern from the many veterinary clinics I have used over the years! I wasn’t even a previous client on my day if need! Ashley took time, showed care and compassion for our family and beloved pet. Ashley wanted the end to be handled in the best way for us and our Sweet Raven! They even took over and respectfully and lovingly took care of her remains! WOW is all I can say! If they treated us this well at this time, I can only imagine how well we will be taken care of in the future! Moving all of my vet care to Tier one! Side note: heartfelt thank you to Ashley! There is a special place in heaven for you my dear! Thank you!!!!!
Tim Bryner
Excellent first visit with veterinary oncology department. Dr. Schmitt did a thorough examination and gave us a clear understanding of the treatment options with his recommendations of what was best for our old lady puggle.
Christopher Mitcham
I made an appointment with Tier1 for one kitten and was seen the next day. The Vet took time to see both of our kittens at the same time. They were very understanding of our time, knowledgeable and caring.
Stacia Joyce
Our dog has had a couple of emergency visits to tier 1 and each time they have been professional and provided top quality medical care to our fur baby. The technicians and veterinarians are top notch. The facility is clean and modern.
Leif Backlin
Had a emergency with our puppy, Tier 1 was the only place open but we dint have a option! Upon arrival they meet us at the door they showed true compassion and reassurance, it was late they had coffee for us and they continued to keep us up to date on everything that was going on. It may have been a last resort that got us in the door but we have transferred all our pets to them and we are so glad we have found such a wonderful place to care for our four legged family members.
Karen Foster
My regular vet referred me here for after hours assistance. I took my beloved dog ready to sit for hours. The service was professional and the staff knowledgeable. I was in and out in 2.5 hours! Impressive experience in an emergency setting.
Kaylen Treffers
Had a wonderful visit at Tier 1 getting my 10 month old pup established! We loved our care. I felt respected, educated, and all of the staff we encountered was helpful and friendly. The facility was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Looks like we found our new Vet!
Mandy Gershon
This place is set up for its patients' best care in mind. Even when they're busy, the staff takes the time to care not only for the animals, but works well with the owners. Good about answering questions and working with you to get the care your pet needs. I can't thank them enough for their skill, kind-heartedness and overall service.
Steve Yarnot
We had an emergency with our puppy. We arrived at 7 PM and were able to be seen. The doctor had to do a surgery on our pup, stayed late to complete it and we all went home the same night. The staff was very friendly and the price seemed very reasonable to me. Each time something changed, we were consulted, given a cost estimate and options! I could not recommend more! Thank you Tier 1 and staff for making a bad situation better!!
ReAnn Johnson
Always a positive experience. I can't thank the staff enough for their efforts, and success, at giving my dog the best quality of life she could possibly have following her cancer diagnosis. Thank you so much!
Katie Henry
I've been to a lot of vets around here. I like that I never have to wait a super long time in the room and it's usually easy to get an appointment. Especially on weekends or after hours. All the vets have been really nice and friendly as well.
Pamela Kline
Took my dog in with several concerns, the entire staff was great, as well as the level of care. All issues were addressed, and my dog went in with tail wagging and left with tail wagging. I feel that they do care for the animals. They have followed up with Ragnar's visit, and are very accomodating. I will be staying with this clinic, for several reasons!!!!!
Madeline Tillotson
The staff is incredibly kind!! Very efficient and knowledgeable. They won’t bluff you into spending all your money either.
Our dog had a MASSIVE tumor and another clinic (WONT NAME) said it’d be about $800. T1 said they could do it for around $250. Also, their facility is SO clean and new
Cherie Tomlinson
We walked in because our usual vet office was closed. My pet was triaged right away to ensure she would be okay to wait. Staff were very friendly, caring and efficient. The doctor took time discussing treatment options with us; we didn't feel like he was rushing through the visit. Would definitely recommend Tier 1!
Patience Knopf
Just like any good relationship. It takes good communication, good understanding, good follow through, taking care of our amazing fur babies. And realizing. Just like our own bodies. Dr's can give us the tools, meds and even equipment to help us to the road of recovery, but its our jobs to get ourselves, our children and fur babies better. Dr's and Staff do the extreme best they can.
In the end we come out blessed and greatful for the wisdom and care provided in our most needed moments.
Tier 1 proved to me and my family that joint effort of 2 amazing Dr's, who went above and beyond to help me and my 8 week old puppy's broken femur and tibia. The dedication and care made the long road of recovery tons less burdensome. And it took a team effort to heal this Puppy. But honestly without the guidance and therapy of both Dr's support ( and Staff) it would have been so easy to say, just make this puppy a 3 leg pup. As it takes alot of work and dedication to help a Hyper Active young puppy. But their dedication and support has proven, hard work does pay off beautifully. Never give up.
Thank You So Much Tier 1.
Deborah Lindsey
This is a beautiful clean facility. The stuff are very nice. They are a great place to bring your animal in an emergency situation but they make it blantfully obvious that money comes first your animal second. Even have an atm as soon as you walk through the door!! Never seen that before. They are very, very expensive. Their quotes are a joke, just plan on paying the highest price. A great addition to the valley as far as having a place that gives 24 hr care but it would be nice to find a vet that puts the animal first. Use to be a lot of them but it is now all about the money. Very sad. They do however take walk ins from noon till 9:00 and none of the vets in this area will. Been looking for a good vet here for 22 years in this area and haven't found one yet so I guess they are as good as any, just be prepared for the money is more important than your pets attitude because it is in your face clear!!
Rose Childs
I was so scared about my little Snowflake. Had been sick and wasn't sure she was going to be Ok until I went this clinic. I felt everything was going to be OK and I will have a little more time with her. I didn't want to live without her she is my best friend and I hers. We do everything together including work. If they Service your animal you Will be nothing but well please. Thanks.
Michelle Rountree
I really had a great experience at Tier One and am thankful to have a full service (specializations and etc.) Veterinary practice in the valley. They are new and have some rough spots but the care, pricing and knowledge is exceptional! They actually are considerate of costs and handling your pet as if it were their own.
Seth Whitfield
Fantastic facilities, compassionate and responsive team, dedicated and highly knowledge veterinarians, a wide array of in-house specialty services available, and it is veteran owned to boot. Best veterinarian clinic in Alaska hands down. I will never take my pets anywhere else again. Thank you Tier 1!
Taylor Wilson
Brought my beardie here for the first time for a checkup. Our old vet moved away and I was dreading switching vets, however, we had a wonderful experience! Everyone was super friendly and Dr. Wu was super great. Very knowledgeable when it comes to bearded dragons. We will definitely be back for all of my little buddy’s vet checkups. Thanks Tier 1 team!
Heather Stuart
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and Dr. Schmidt was able to figure out what was wrong with our baby and get us referred to the another specialist that could help him. I am beyond grateful to Tier 1!
Callie Hamilton
Excellent vets. They are honest and upfront with you about your pets condition. My dog needed emergency surgery and they did an excellent job, I felt like my dog was treated well and cared for like she was one of their own.
Lane Wild
I recently brought my golden retriever to Tier 1 as an emergency. He presented with a baseball size absys in his neck. As soon as I came through the front door, I was welcomed with a smile and a good attitude. Once I gave them all of my dog’s information, they almost immediately took him back to drain the absys. Dr. Vollaro explained everything in a manner I could understand and provided me with estimates and choices so I wasn’t compelled to spend more than I could afford. You can’t fake their genuine desire to help the community. I wouldn’t take my golden anywhere else!
Mitzi Bolanos
We've been seeing Dr. Schmidt for oncology for the last few years. He is a fantastic doctor and wonderfully compassionate. We are lucky to have him here in Alaska.
Teri Seward
Tier One has been an AMAZING back up vet for all of my fur babies!!! I have had several emergencies this past year and they have gotten me in, treated me with superb kindness and compassion. I would not go anywhere else for emergency vet care.
Russ Enz
I have a nine-year-old German Shepherd named Bucky he is getting PRP injections and hormone therapy then we will get him on the water treadmill Dr Sean mcpeck is the one I’ve been talking to & he has done all of Buckys procedures. He takes the time to clearly explain the procedures. He also uses the state of the art procedures. The staff from the receptionist to the technicians have all been very helpful and friendly. I have been to 3 other vets and tier 1 has made me feel the most comfortable.
Milan
The nurses Ashley O. and Rebekah were absolutely wonderful - professional, compassionate, gentle, kind, respectful,
and provided excellent care. The vet. promptly returned my call with blood work results. I appreciate the care and time provided by all team members.
Jessica Gallavin
Immediately made me feel comfortable and at peace when my dog was experiencing last stage bone cancer. Dr. Sean McPeck is a very passionate vet that not only cares for your sick animal but exemplifies true empathy for what we feel when our furry animals need care.
Marti Buscaglia
Dr. Schmidt is so knowledgeable and so compassionate. You couldn’t ask for a better combination. He has treated 3 of my dogs and has literally saved their lives. Thank you Tier 1 for bringing that kind of expertise to Alaska.
Amber Enns
I absolutely adore Tier 1. From the reception staff through the docs, I have never had a bad experience. My pets are always so happy to see the staff.
Catherine t
Tier1 not only has the best services available, but I love that for the most part they love our fur babies, and want the best care for them.
Dr McPeck is exceptional along with his wife Dr Sarah Mcpeck, Dr Brooke Wilson, all the tech's and front end staff. Would not go anywhere else.
Katelyn Oldenkamp
Brought my dog in after a dog attack and they were extremely helpful. I called multiple times with questions and they responded quickly and reassured me. I didn’t have an established vet yet for my puppy but now I do.
Brandy Yeates
Our cat needed vet care and they were able to get us in and taken care of quickly. They explained everything they were doing and prices so that there would be no shocks and left it up to us how far they could go. Everybody was sweet and caring. Will take all our pets there in the future.
Ariel
I was very happy with my experience here, especially in comparison to the vet we used to go to in Anchorage. They did so much for our elderly cat. and the prices were reasonable.
Not Real
This is the best Vet in the area BY FAR! I drive from South Anchorage because they are worth it. I am a practicing MD and know quality medicine from garbage. I have had some highly disappointing experiences in the city. At this point, there is no one within 100 miles (maybe more) that I would trust my dogs with. This is the place to go, even if it is a long drive.
Dawson Kroll
Without Dr. McPeck my dog Bear wouldn’t have survived the first night I brought him in. And without Dr. Schmidt, he wouldn’t have survived these past 9 months and counting.
I am eternally grateful for the Tier 1 doctors and staff.
Steven Roll
Teir One has been very helpful in our time of need. Technician Kim, Dr Serritore have been awesome. Communicated everything clearly. Couldn't have asked for anyone more confidant than these two.

I was fortunate to enroll in Dr. McPeck's CT-CCC class. It was a very well put together course. I appreciated the pace in which the information was presented as well as the hands on opportunities the class provided. It was very informative and helpful to understanding how to care for a canine in emergency situations.
Dena Jobe
Tier 1 is always available when needed!! Always smiling staff and wonderful service!
Curtis Harvie
Beautiful modern facility, great staff, vet was not warm and fuzzy, but competent, honest, and efficient. Prices are fair. I prefer a small country vet for routine stuff, but when a timely thorough work up is needed I’d certainly recommend.
Ashley Bennett
Everyone was so nice and helpful after my dog, Crimper, experienced a severe allergic reaction to his yearly shots late on a Friday night. Everyone took time to come out to waiting room and give me updates and explain what was going on. Thank you so much for your help!!

I would give 5 stars for quality and service, but it was expensive. That's the only thing. They walked me through my options and showed me the price every step of the way. My pupper is worth it though.
