There are so many wonderful animals looking for forever homes. All of December, they were wavering adoption fees for animals over certain ages. I forgot about dogs, but cats had to be over 4 months. We got our new member, Peter Pan. It was love at first sight for the both of us. He loves scratches on his chin and sides of cheeks. Also, the staff were really friendly and helpful.

After losing our beloved furry daughter, a female Jack Russell named Mia at the age of 16, and having her since she was born. It was very hard to decide adopting a new family member, but we have so much love in our hearts to give that we felt the need of getting another pet. This time we decided to adopt a kitten, but when we went to the shelter we found two little brothers, and they were so adorable together, taking care of each other and keeping each other safe and warm, that we didn't have the heart to separate them, so we decided to adopt them both. And I can say that was the best decision we had made as a family. They brought not only love, but happiness to our home, filling our hearts with peace, joy, and a lot of playing time we adore. We named them Mozart and Haydn Perdomo. They are completely healthy, smart, playful, happy, and very loved kittens. Thank you Miami Dade Animal Services!

They spay/neuter TNR for free. Drop off is at 7am daily!! You cannot call them because their phone goes to 311 (311 does not give accurate information). I went to the actual shelter to find out! Picked up kitty today ❤️ He is almost ready for a new home. Someone dumped him outside my house. Very sweet!!

My daughter adopted Nidorina in March 2022 and headed home to Pennsylvania.She loves the woods and the snow. She shares her forever home with 2 cats and gets along nicely. Our vets in Pa. were very impressed with Miami-Dade Shelter. We thank you all very much.

I went on an extremely busy day pre-tropical storm. Mercedes, Kennedy, Cinderella, and a man who was working the wellness clinic (did not get his name- older gentleman with prior medical background) were so incredibly kind and helpful. I was very frustrated and overwhelmed. It was disorganized and chaotic. I was referred in circles. I see some great potential in this place and I hope they correct the issues. Overall negative experience, but potential for improvement. Renovations and staff are excellent.

I visited just to see what pups were waiting for homes and I was very happy with the establishment. It’s a shelter so shelters are always sad but the facilities were very clean, and they had the dogs separated in different rooms. They came straight away to come help save a stray kitten in backyard that ate poison. I was so surprised! I called 6 pm and they showed up within an hour. The person that showed up was so nice and kind to us and the kitten. Great experience.

This review is for a dog adoption experience. If, for some reason you're a cat person, you might find this review useful. Another tip: get a dog. We had a great experience. The place is very professional. We were taken into the rooms with the dogs for adoption, chose our dog, and registered the number to see if it is available. (Might want to pick more than 1 dog, as it's first come first serve). After verifying the dog is available for adoption, we were introduced to our new puppy, and taken outside for a meet and play session. After that session, if it went well, you can take your dog home. Our dog (all dogs) came with all vaccines and treatments, and we gladly payed the $65 fee. The dogs looked well kept and the staff was kind and very helpful. There's a med clinic outside the building to get all the things you might need, like a Victorian collar, etc. Please remember to bring a collar and a leash, but you can get a temporary one for $1. As part of the adoption, the dogs get a tag and a microchip, both need to be registered online. Simple, 5 minutes procedure, but if someone isn't comfortable with doing things online, they might need help to do it

We adopted our dog from this shelter and it was a great experience from beginning to end! We were impressed with the facility and how clean the kennels were. There were a handful of volunteers and staff around the kennels taking care of the dogs and cleaning up. The only thing I think needs work is informing the guests of the process. We weren't aware that we could go straight to the kennels to look. We saw people taking numbers and being called in so we took a number and waited, thinking that we had to wait our turn to view the available pets. We waited for about 20 minutes until we suspected the numbers were for people who already found a pet they were interested in adopting. We asked and off we went to view the available dogs. The number system indeed turned out to be their way of organizing people who were interested in doing a meet and greet with the pet/adopt a pet. We had to go back the next day since by the time we found the dog we wanted, it was closing time. We were helped by a kind gentleman with the adoption process. We were even given a leash, harness, and bed for free! All valued together for about $150.

Great place. Had to put down my pet and was charged $35... called 9 veterinaries all wanted to charge around 250 to 300 dollars for the same service at Miami dade animal services. Clean. Very humane treatment.

I have visited this place a lot lately up until I finally adopted my new dog, Rocky. The place is clean, the staff is friendly, and they know how to treat animals from what I saw. Only thing I'd recommend for them is to allow/recommend potential adopters to bring in approved treats and toys to interact with the dog. They claimed the dog I ended up getting had behavioral issues but he's been absolutely amazing so far. I gave him a treat and I instantly became his best friend.

Beware, there will be some waiting!! Lots of it! However, the prices will shut you up or maybe quiet you a little. So, stop barkin'! I have been there three times (as you may notice from my other reviews). There was again only one doctor to administer all the vaccines. I don't know why that is. Tip: don't go during lunch any day, the doctor takes his break and you wait for his return. The staff are pleasant and there were four windows open and staffed. Then you wait in a line in front of the doctor's examine room. My time was in and out in an hour and a half, not bad for thirty dollars! 3rd boosters for the twins for $30 each. What? You bet I will be back for their rabies & to chip them... Thanks for reading.

We adopted 2 of our dogs from this place, there's a lot of sweet dogs that need to be rescued. The only thing is that the place stinks and is never clean, and you need to pay a fee of $65 for adoption. But if you go to Broward or West Palm Beach shelters there's not fee and the place and dogs are in better shape.

Took 5 cats to be fixed, his location was by South Dade Government Center. Each cat must have its own pet carrier. It was pn a Tuesday. They told me they will be ready to be pickup on Thursday after noon. A storm was approaching. The cats where taken to Doral their Center of operation. Got them back on Friday. Their delivery man was great and brought them right to my door. Their staff is very accommodating.

It's already difficult enough to surrender an animal that was in our yard, but the whole procedure was quick and was made easier by the really nice staff. The center was very clean, great staff who were kind and professional. Update, we decided to come back and adopt her, we also gave a donation, they serve a great service to the community and every bit helps them help us and ours .😺🐕

I adopted my sweet kitten from here in January of 2021! I have also fostered neonatal kittens through this shelter and the fostering staff is awesome! While it may be hard to find a specific animal to adopt - many want to adopt the small dogs and are frustrated when they have already been claimed - there are so many animals that need forever homes at the shelter, and always a ton of sweet cats. I agree with some of the other reviewers in that the adoption process could be more streamlined, but the staff is doing a great job with the resources they have. If you're coming to adopt a pet, just be patient.

My children and I had been shopping for a small dog to add to our family for sometime. We reached out to sheets and rescues in our area and the dogs were always gone. I called her one time and was told to come in and see what was available. We did and applied for a dog the same day. This one is a mixed bag honestly. I think the veterinarians who operated on our cat did a nice job, atleast so far as we can tell. So the animals seem to be taken care of. And the prices were very fair. However, the front end of operations is incredibly disorganized and confusing for guests. Nobody really has any idea where to go. Scheduling a drop off time really doesn't actually mean you're in and out at that time. And some of the staff is rather rude, to the point of turning their head and just completely ignoring you. Then on the other hand, other members are so friendly and sweet. Overall, for the price I would say if you need a spay / neuter it is worth it, they also do vaccinations. But schedule ahead online. Do not just walk in, unless it is the first Friday of every month.

I was really impressed. I'm from West Palm Beach. I've never seen either versus shelters walking the pest off of the property.. It was so nice to see if that's going to take a little walk and there were ample employees everywhere. I'm definitely going to go back down there I was not able to get the dog that I wanted you to medical problems with him. But I'm definitely going back down there this election was good. I feel like they should explain the fees. The cashier asked me if I wanted to renew for 1 year or 3 years. First of all, I brought a letter to prove I get Medicaid it's $5 for the tag and $5 for the Rabies vaccination. That's the first thing I showed her. Common sense, I brought the letter to get it at that price. If the price significantly changes for 3 years the cashier should explain that. I calculated a price that I thought, and it was nothing near. She said it was $185.00, huge difference! I felt like that was unethical to not be clear with prices for the people that are clearly on a budget. Especially with inflation and the cost of living going up.

I adopted Mittens, my lovely kitten from here 3 months ago(Oct 2020) and the adoption center people were nice. After that she got vaccinated here 3times in this place. A man who gave the 2nd Vaccine to Mittens was rude, but the rest people were ok. Last Dec 23rd, she got spayed, now she is fine now. Only there is a convex knot marks on her belly, and the part is still reddish and much less hair today. 😞 In Oct 2020, a entrance door and an exit door are different 'cause of COVID 19. You are not able to exit to the front door (the entrance door). There is an exit way in the back of the building. The Animal Clinic center also has the same system.

I took in a stray and her newborn puppies and they were very attentive and loving with the puppies and the mom dog. no I did encounter a problem with the security guard that checks your temperature before entering the building he was very rude and short with the public. I recently checked it out to start volunteering and I was taken aback by what an amazing faciliy. This is such an improvement and total different approach from the old animal shelter. The facilities are improved and client and people friendly. The animals seem much happier. Also, the shelter has changed to a no-kill shelter which is amazing. This means their adoptions rate is an average of 90%! They help kind homes for animals outside the state if necessary, and they only euthanize those animals that cannot be saved due to injury or illness, or cannot be rehabilitated. That is amazing and the community should do everything they possibly can to support this new and improved shelter. They are doing everything they can to adopt all their animals. I can't wait to become a regular volunteer. Check it out!!!

Please adopt from here since as much as they want to help unwanted dogs they have too many and put them on the death row after a while. Dont let yourself go with the most beautiful and groomed one, you might be surprised whats underneath the saddest of dogs and the rewards of making him/her happy are triple!!

The employees here are heroes! They work tirelessly taking care of the animals, coordinating foster homes, and finding loving homes for the animals here. If you are interested in volunteering, fostering, or adopting a new pet I would definitely check here first. The people are great and the animals are very sweet and loving!

We adopted our wonderful senior Chihuahua from Miami Dade Animal Services a few weeks ago. “Mimi” is the best dog ever!! She was absolutely Terrified at the shelter, and even growling when people approached the cage. They said she was “fear aggressive” but now that she is comfortable in her forever home, we have found that she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She is the sweetest, most loving dog. I’m so happy she was not euthanized for being so terrified. Adoption was completely free thanks to a summer promotion. Staff was helpful. Lots of animals here, highly recommended A few months after we adopted Mimi we adopted another wonderful dog Lobo! They are best friends! (Boyfriend and girlfriend lol) Keep up the awesome work MDAS!

I have been going to this shelter for the past 6 days on a roll looking for a small dog the place is always kept very well and clean Dog cages always look clean and comfy they even have sleepy music for the dogs in the rooms. I just called for information on a dog and spoke to a representative named Jose he went above and beyond to get all the information I needed his customer service was Absolutely excellent. I’ll say that I’m definitely biased right off the bat because I found my dogson here a year ago, but putting that aside, this is a great facility. Your calls get answered within minutes (or less), very informative about the pets they take in and how they’ll interact with you and other pets/environments (meaning they care about putting these creatures in the right home). You should definitely walk around with animal in back area to get a feel for your potentially new family member. No other adoption center compares to what is provided here.

I adopted two 8 year old chihuahuas last July from MDAS and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Shelters are depressing no matter what because there’s so many animals that are sad and looking for a home. The staff here was very helpful for us in helping us choose which dog(s) to get. I originally was set on one large dog but my boyfriend and i fell in love with two older chihuahuas. They had been surrendered to the shelter together and had spent the past 6 years of their lives together. The shelter worker told me that they were trying to adopt them together but would adopt them separately if need be. This broke my heart. Not only are they senior dogs (who already have a tough time getting adopted) but one of them was Heartworm positive. The shelter workers let us get to know the dogs for a while and offered a lot of advice and information on chihuahuas and dogs suffering from Heartworm. The shelter even offers FREE Heartworm treatment for dogs if they test positive for it. We decided to have our own vet treat him but it’s very generous of them to offer that service. Overall, the new facility is clean and i constantly saw volunteers working to clean the cages and any accidents on the floor. They’re very gentle in handling the dogs and didn’t rush us or push us to make a quick decision which is important when adopting a new family member. I only wish i could have adopted more of them into my family as it was truly sad to see how many are in need of a good Home. We will adopt from here again if we ever decide to add another family member!

I lost my dog 5 years ago. He is a mix miniature pinsher / chihuahua. He had a young spirit, very playful but also timid. I know someone must have taken him. He ran away with my rat terrier on a rainy day on Lejuene road between East 33rd and 29th st. Someone grabbed my rat terrier and saw us looking for them and returned her, but haven't heard from my miniature pinsher since. He has a microchip. If anyone seen him please turn him in or contact me. He is still very missed & loved.

What a sad moment when the time to say goodbye to your loved Pet. My dog was 13 years old and after a couple of testing with the vet me and my wife decided that it was time to put him to sleep. Luckily we where able to say goodbye to him in a confortable room. CINDERELLA the girl that worked here guide us to the process with companion. We paid the fee of 25 Dollard and they took care of the rest. Oliver is now resting after a long weekend of pain and we where able to go home to recover. I only gave this place 4 stars because the trailer could really use a facelift. But if it were not for that, I'd give them 5 stars! This location is essentially just an old trailer on the edge of a local park. When I brought my cat to be neutered, I took a look around inside and I got nervous when I saw the condition of the trailer interior. I took a closer look and I realized that the parts of the trailer that were old and bad-looking were the parts that had nothing to do with where the animals were being held. The cages that the animals were kept in were actually kept very clean and tidy. The staff looked like they had run this place for so long, they could get things done with their eyes closed. And get it done well. The process is... Show up early in the morning with your pet, park nearby the trailer and someone will walk up to your car to give you paperwork. You fill it out and wait for your turn in line (each car is given a number in the order of arrival). When it's your turn, you get out of your car with your pet and stand outside the trailer. When they are ready to recieve you inside, you are seated with your pet while they write up some stickers and tags with yours and your pets info according to the paperwork you filled out. Then they attach the tags to your pet and take them away while you wait for your turn to pay. They tell you what time you will need to come back to pick up your pet later in the day and you leave the premises. You come back later, Park your car, walk into the trailer, they return your pet to you, and that's it! Very simple process! When I was picking up my cat, I asked a lot of questions about aftercare. They took their time with me and answered all my questions. My cat came home and in the same day he was already back to his normal self. It seems that they did a really good job!

A beautiful fairly new shelter in Doral Miami Florida. They have a lot of dogs mostly pit bulls again, but I don't think the staff wants many dogs to get adopted. The dog I went to see was not there long but someone else was supposed to be picking it up but they had a certain time to be there. If they don't pick the dog up by 6 p.m. the dog would be mine if I come and get it except they wouldn't take my name phone number or any of my information. They said it's first come first served. That's not a good idea since it took over a half hour to get there to begin with from where I live in Plantation Florida. If they would just take my phone number they could have called me and I would have been down there in a Flash and that dog would be in my home now. Anyway the place is beautiful, it's fairly new, dogs all have glass enclosures some of them look like they're in living room settings nicer than my own home! If you're in Miami near Doral go see the shelter. If you are not nearby the shelter, I do not advise you to go there unless you're looking for a pit bull. They did have one Great Dane, a few cats and a bull mastiff dog. As I said you're better off going to a shelter near your own location because they will not hold a dog for you. The whole idea behind the upgrade in shelters is not to be killing animals like they used to. If you live in the Doral area of Miami by all means go in and check out the shelter and come home with a new friend.

My first time there! Went to the front door first. I was told to go to the back for sterilization. Didn't know if it was up a flight! I had a metal grill cage which is heavy + 2 🐈 + rain, needed help to carry it! Thought since upstairs, a worker would help me but to no avail. Had paperwork to fill out also. It was pouring 🌧️ , back of my SUV open w/cats. A customer saw me dragging the cage upstairs, offered his help, thanks 👍. Besides that problem, all went well once inside. Happy they still require mask to be worn inside their facility. Lots of room for the animals in the kennel to move around and they have an activity area outside to exercise. I decided to get my girls a puppy, since they seemed bored due to COVID-19. The phone staff were super helpful in letting me know which dogs were available. We went to one of their locations and obtained our puppy. They gave us a backsack full of items for the dog. Since adopting her, we also attended their free pop-up, where we obtained her booster shots and received more gifts for her. Everywhere we go and encounter their staff, it is always a great experience. I was so impressed that I took a friend who recently lost her spouse and she was able to adopt a dog for companionship who fits perfectly into their home. Miami-Dade Animal Services has the BEST staff in every location I've visited. Everything is always clean and pristine! They are truly the best!

The staff are on the nicest people I’ve ever met but not one of the vets, there room was 9 and we went in today with our dog to get his vaccines for rabies and other things. The vet tried forcing us to open his mouth and he kept trying to bite us, he kept making fun of the situation and only put the mouth guard when he had to vaccinate him himself, I know everything with Covid but gloves exist for a reason. Replace that one vet please!

This is a huge facility. Walk in area is welcoming. I love the small to large dog areas. Also, window rooms to look at them. I was helped finding my lost dog by two wonderful women. Great staff that seem to really care for the animals. The only issue I have was the animal clinic is extremely crowded. There are not enough veterinarians and it's understaffed.

I've been to lots of Animal Shelters in many states. This one is by far the best. I love when you enter it feels like an upscale hotel. The set up is comfortable cozy and inviting. The staff was helpful as we had never been here before. The pets seemed relaxed and well taken care of. There was always someone cleaning. The smell in some areas was a little strong but that comes with the territory 😊I was disappointed because you need to be there before doors open to find your pet .The one I wanted was already adopted. I adopted a gorgeous kitty here yesterday and I was actually pleasantly surprised. I had gone about 3 days in a row to see the cats and talk about different kittens. The facility is very nice, clean, and the staff was extremely helpful in all aspects. They gave me information on the availability of many kitties, gave me medical records with thorough explanations before I adopted, and we're super friendly. They are super knowledgable. I was not expecting to have such a positive experience for some reason, but I would go there again in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone. The ONLY downfall is the wait time at certain times of the day. But that's to be expected! When I went in the morning during work hours I had no wait.

Got my beautiful Bryan from here. Bryan is an 8 month old American bulldog mixed. I only had to pay $30 for him to get neutered. The people were nice to me. I spoke to like 3 or 4 different staff members and they were lovely. Most of the people here are volunteers so they're not here for the money (because there is none). I heard a guy screaming at one of the staff members when I was there and there was some back and forth arguing but that guy was acting like a jerk from the moment he stepped into the place. If you don't have patience you should probably not come to this place, not because they're slow but because you should not be getting a pet if you don't have patience. Most people when they get to a place and see a line they get in line. In this place there are no lines. When you come in tell a staff member what you're there for and they'll guide you to where you need to go. You do have to get a ticket in order to be helped by a staff member and if they can't help on the first try you have to get another ticket the second time and the third time and the fourth.... So bottom line: be patient and courteous and you'll have a wonderful experience.

people who work here are very nice and kind. the place is very clean and there is nice music in the background for the dogs which is nice n relaxing. very thoughtful and they do a great job taking care of the animals. the database petharbor is useful but it is never up-to-date, so it causes them headaches because the pet has already been adopted so it gets upsetting but it is the database which could be improved to be more up to date with info. the rescue groups also keep taking adoptable pets which they in turn charge higher rates for adoption;It is understood that rescues are very helpful but there should be a window of time for the pet to be adopted by the public and the rescues can adopt after that window closes since it seems right now the rescues get first holds and the public competes with the rescue or pays higher fees to the rescues. The rescues may be doing a great job taking medical care pets from the shelter but many times they take pets that are just healthy and pedigree so the rescue can get higher fees than the shelter which is questionable practice. so, bring lots of patience to the shelter and see what you can adopt.

The new facility and their online services is definitely an improvement. The staff seem very invested in caring for their animals while they're there and are energized when adoptions occur. The only recurring problem.remains is with getting through the director and their administrative staff via their emails that go unanswered over and over again. I checked peeviously if those were good email addresses, and i was assured they were. Maybe they don't think they are accountable to the public? I'm not sure. However, for all the times I have been there, I have received good customer service.

Hey despite that they do not offer veterinarian services for the public, the vaccinations are affordable and convenient for anyone. Use your veterinarian for "health care" to your pet and use MD animal services for vaccinations, chip, and registration...

A nice place with large enough spaces for the pets. Be prepared to wait a very long time. We brought in our dog to get her tag and vaccines and we waited over 3 hours before we were even called in. They also have a water fountain meant for your pets to drink from which is a nice commodity, just don't forget to bring something to drink or eat for yourself, if not, they always have a small cafe inside.

Joseph helped us find and adopt our cat, out of everyone we encountered that day he was practically the only professional and courteous staff member there. It's likely if he hadn't been there we wouldn't have found our cat. He was friendly and had a lot of patience in explaining the personalities of the cats. He is someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty. I'd give him 5 stars plus for his positive attitude and professionalism. I rate 3 stars for the experience vis a vis the rest of the process, because we definitely got attitude from other staff that were practically discouraging adoption. They made us spend a lot of time either waiting or following twice the same procedure. The cat had the wrong chip, apparently assigned the wrong room, and overall if it weren't for Joseph we'd have probably not adopted or gone back.

Very big, clean and modern facilities. You can adopt cats & dogs. Also take your pets to get vaccinated and get the tag for your dog. Prices are very accessible and convenient. They have different packages available for cat & dog. There's also a Volunteer Program available. Overall, a great place!

Excellent for adoption , awful for Surrender or Trap neuter vaccine release service!!!! 😕 One month on the waiting list :((( It contributes to raise drastically the amount of poor cats in the street! Unbelievable in a supposal "Wealthy Miami". I am trapper, i give my free contribution to MDAS by dropping off cats for them to be spay and neuter. I do it on my spare time, on side of my work , with my own money, and i must say that people working as receptionist in this service are really not cooperative. it is a shame to be bullied or/and badly received, when you pick up cats in the surrender / TNVR service, not to be help by people working there. Exemple: nobody for opening the door for you as you are carrying big heavy traps / being badly receive because you arrive at 6:05pm, 5 mn late the pick up time, even if the service is closed at 6: 30 pm...and so on ! My favorite girl has a name " Veronica". She is really at the top for being unpleasant, and don't count on her to make you a copy of the after surgery documents. I really ask myself if she really like animals ??? MDAS should really take care of people hired. Hopefully, sometimes you meet angel volunteers.

Air conditioning and very roomy! These dogs and cats are kept in more comfortable settings than other shelters. Please go adopt one. They're still kept behind bars, but there's no way around that situation. As a community we must do a better job of spaying or neutering our pets and only getting rescued pets.

We drove to MDAS late in the day from fort Myers and were waiting in line to meet dogs basically when the shelter was closing...we got the opportunity to pick 1 dog, which when we did, the staff worker (she was super sweet & young & covered in tattoos) was in the middle of feeding & closing up, yet she was more than happy to bring the dog out for us to meet and didn't rush us or anything...we ended up coming back 2 days later to pick up the dog and again the same girl was back there and we spoke more with her & by the time our number was called it was basically closing time again, so the girl ended up surprising us by bringing the dog out to the lobby to sit with us as we filled out the adoption info...she even helped us load the dog into the car! The service was amazing and honestly she had a huge part in getting the dog adopted :) I highly recommend anyone who's looking for a new family member to check out MDAS since they're so overcrowded!

Used to volunteer here and I just loved it, spending time with all the kittens and adult cats. The place is as clean as it can be considering it’s an animal shelter. When I went to adopt some senior kittens one of the employees was great showed us all the cats we where interested in and even showed us some she thought would benefit more from being adopted out than some of the ones we where looking at who had higher changes of being adopted quicker.

My honest rating for this place is between 3 and 4 stars. I come here whenever the vaccines and tags are due but there is a huge miscommunication with the services. I've see people walk in and wait for such a long time to find out they needed to be elsewhere because there isn't any proper communication. I feel there should be more signs as to what a certain station offers or a staff member coordinating people around. I didn't have an issue but I've seen others become impatient. The service is extremely slow but I believe it is because of the abundance of people needing services. I would recommend the location to hire more staff including vets to speed up the vaccination and tag process. The shelter itself appears clean. If a dog accidentally pees, there is always a staff nearby ready to clean.

New place is really nice. I went for license and vaccinations. You get a number through the computer, ticket is printed out and wait your turn. You can sit inside or outside they have tv's showing order of numbers and also call through speakers. They have water fountain for you and your pet. 5 stars for me because it's a very simple process and less expensive than the vet. I waited like an hour, I was there at 1030am on a Friday, to give you an idea.

Unfortunately we had to put our beloved Duncan (4 yr old black Lab) to sleep. He was having kidney failure, and after lots of treatments, as he did not get any better, we decided to euthanize him. Our experience at this place couldn’t have been better. From the person at the front desk, to the guy at the surrender office, we were treated as family. I highly recommend their services. Wow, this new building is so much bigger and nicer then the old one. All of the staff and volunteers were taking the dogs outside to potty and for walks, and cleaning up any dirty kennels promptly. If you ever visited the former location, this is a 180 degree improvement. The facility is upbeat with lots of volunteers. I went during the weekend and chances are you probably will not be able to adopt easily b/c adoptions happen quickly-especially for smaller dogs. There are plenty of healthy, larger dogs. Best bet-go during the week.

Wow, this is not your mother’s animal shelter. You know what I mean. The dimly lit, overcrowded public animal shelters where the staff ignore the animals and attempting to adopt an animal is harder than getting a perfect score on the SAT’S. This is the exact opposite. The shelter looks more like a high end mall than a shelter. But instead of showcasing the newest fashions, it showcases beautiful dogs and cats available for adoption. The rooms that are lined with kennels for potential adoptees are well lit and clean. The staff are fantastic. They are really enthusiastic and committed to finding good matches for pets and potential owners. But they won’t simply let anyone adopt. You have to have proof of residency, and proof you are allowed to have a pet where you live. But most importantly they are very honest about each dogs temperament and characteristics. They want to make sure the adoption will be successful. I speak from experience as I adopted a dog from this shelter. A perfect match from a wonderful shelter. The staff is what makes this place so special.

Nice to know that there is a place to find help when it comes to animals in disgrace. However, coming to the place and getting all kinds of obstacles to get a simple act of help, is very disappointing. Some staff members just follow the book of rules, wich it ok, but there should be some "listening from visitors and of course, some thinking and judgement" before turning away anybody in seek of their services just because you are not a Miami-Dade county resident at the moment according to your ID. It's like discriminating on people, therefore on animals in need due to the origin of whoever speaks on their behalf. Not much of human touch in that way of dealing and acting. Animals don't deserve to go through all that red tape created about people.

I actually had the wrong idea about MDAS..I was under the impression it was a dark and terrible place where they killed animals...like county shelters I visited in my youth. However, I found out that in 2015 they made it a no-kill shelter. The girl that was helping me told me that they have some dogs who have been there for "months and months." There were many, many volunteers who were walking the dogs and giving them love. The facility was very clean and modern and the staff seemed happy and positive. While I wish that all dogs and cats had loving forever homes, at least we have this place for them to stay safe and to receive love until those homes can be found.🙏

A place that is very efficient. They have a section just for surrendering your animal (no appointment needed) whether it be a stray you've found or your own. You can get almost done here. You just have to call.

It would definitely be 5 stars if i would not have to spend over 2 hours even after making apointment and filling out papers at least 3 times: we were told kittens were available, papers on cage doors would show they are available, but after filling out papers, signing and going to pay they would say it is already on hold and then 2 more times just same way. I was exhausted, kids were very frustrated and husband literally cried. At the end we settled on any kitten that would just be available -which all of them deserve a forever home, so we are happy. But it is definitely some huge obstacles on the way of somebody who wants to adopt. Overall place is newly constructed, clean and large. So many dogs and cats that need Fur-ever home and they should do more of events like Match-a-thon/ match a pet/.

Beautiful building but nothing has changed. You walk in and there's an information. But no one seems to engage with you unless you directly walk up and stand in front of their face. It broke my heart to see the pets of the week displayed behind the glass looking so depressed and lonely. The location is somewhat easy to find but parking is insufficient for the amount of traffic that goes in and out of there. I hadn't been to the shelter since they moved and honestly I don't miss going there it's still depressing as ever.

Makes a difference comparing with the old animal shelter. This one is bigger and more organized and always you can ask where to go. But there's not enough parking. I went with a friend to transfer her dog to me, we asked and found where to do the transfer. It went so smooth and fast. We were out in less than five minutes.

This place is much better than when it was on 74th but it is not very self-explanatory where you go if you lost a pet. When you go to the info best they tell you to go see a bunch of letters and just point, they know where everything is but when you are new to the place it's not obvious. But since they work there they a dime wrongly that we the public know what the heck they are talking about. I am very distraught about losing my dog and no I do not know where all those letters are at. So for thinking we should know what they know and not being helpful I give them only four stars and that because it better than the previous location but rude.

I went to the desk and after waiting in line found out the dog I wanted was already adopted, which is a thing for the animals. The parking lot floods when it rains and it rains a lot in Miami. I adopted my best friend from this shelter! Yes the dog needed training, and yes I needed to give him some medical care, but I expected this. He was a stray, out on the streets for quite a while. He would have died on the streets without Animal Services. The facility is overwhelmed and on a very limited budget. The staff were wonderful considering the strain they are under. God bless all who volunteer and work there to give all the pets that have been abandoned a second chance. My dog has made every day brighter. Thanks Animal Services!
