Great people, Great prices, Great care. I'll be coming back! I've had my cat Rosie for almost 6 years and historically the vet has terrified her. She usually self-isolates for about 12 hours once we get home after an appointment. Not today! Dr. Torres was very kind and efficient with Rosie's examination and patiently answered all of my questions. I think the lack of dogs barking also helped Rosie stay calm. She's back to walking on my keyboard and being a nuisance immediately after our appointment instead of hiding for the day. :) Thank you Nova Cat Clinic!

I had a wonderful experience as a cat mom new patient, and I think Jack did as well. Dr. Bazemore was thoughtful, patient, and thoroughly explained how the check up went and medication options. She was also responsive via email after the visit. A clinic dedicated just to our feline babies is totally worth it- so quiet, peaceful, and you know everyone loves cats!

I saw this place biking by one day, and thought it was cool. Then I found myself with a rescue cat (the homie Shrimp) and was like, “well I guess I’ll take him to that place I saw.” And what a great decision! Everyone here is super friendly (and also loves my little shrimp) and made it really easy to be a new pet owner. Every doc I’ve met is super kind and so clearly a cat lover! I love coming here and shrimp is getting used to it too. If you have a cat, this is the place to take them!

Grateful! Going to the vet is stressful for all of us, but today, after their first visit to Nova Cat Clinic, both kitties are out & about & relatively normal. Usually it takes the cats a few hours to a few days hiding under the bed to bounce back after seeing the vet, so I think being able to roam around the exam room helped them relax. I felt listened to & helped by everyone on staff that I interacted with, and I think Nova has really good, reasonable COVID protocols in place. I am so grateful & relieved to find a great vet clinic in our new location! Thank you, Dr. Bazemore!

They have a great focus on cats. There are no other types of animals to cause your cat stress in the office. The team is extremely health conscious, so they provide curb side service until you are ready to go back to an exam room. As soon as we got back to the exam room I was able to let my cat out of his carrier to explore the room before anyone came in. I think all of this combined to make this the least stressful vet visit any of my pets have ever had. Dr. Torres was also extremely helpful and alleviated all of the concerns I had about my cat's health.

Had our first visit yesterday, and we were very pleased. Super helpful and kind staff, very competent doctor who had a lot of patience with my kitty, and was available for answering any questions I had. They are also very responsive to emails and phone calls, and have a good communication system in place. It's not cheap, but worth it for my fur babies.

I've been with NOVA Cat Clinic since 2008, when I moved to Arlington, from Arizona. I bought both of my babies, TC and Brittany, and received nothing but excellent care from them. I lost TC in 2012 and Brittany in 2022, but now I bring my new babies, Oscar and Albus, to them even though I now live in Alexandria and another cat clinic is close by. The love and care we get from NOVA Cat Clinic is second to none!

My wife and I have been utilizing your services for our pet care needs since we have owned our pet Shadow. No complaints on that regard. Your clinic and your staff have always treated us and Shadow with kindness and respect. We are truly thankful for finding a pet clinic as nice as yours. This review is in regards to the recent rabies and Fluorescent Antibody Virus Neutralization (FAVN) test sample your office provided and submitted in preparations for our upcoming overseas travel. According to the Japanese Pet import requirements, two rabies shots are required within a year apart before the FAVN blood is drawn and sent for testing. Your office failed to identify that Shadow needed a second Rabies Booster and only administered one and proceeded to send the blood to Kansas City University for the FAVN. This may have been a fault on our part due this past year's COVID restrictions; however, your office failed to properly check Shadow's records. As we prepared to transport Shadow to California to ease his stress for the duration of our entire travel, we took him to the Camp Pendleton Veterinary Clinic (clinic that will be preparing the final Health Certificate before official travel) to make sure all preparations were conducted properly. The Camp Pendleton Vet Clinic notified us that he will need to receive another Rabies booster and re-submit the blood for the FAVN. Which also includes the additional fee and this again re-starts the 180-day quarantine. This all could have been avoided if your office would have conducted the proper steps for overseas travel. I am submitting this complaint in order to prevent this from happening to other families traveling overseas, military or civilian. Please know and understand all pet import and export travel requirements. With kind regards, but frustrated customer.

I've moved a ton recently, and had Mary vets as a result. NOVA is hands down the best I've come across. All of the staff are incredibly friendly, from reception to assistants to the vet themselves. They actually care about your cat here with genuine interest and concern, you aren't just a number with a dollar sign. They go the extra step here, and truly it shows. Any vet visit is going to incur costs, there's no way around it. The pricing is fair and not unreasonable, both check ups and surgery. I would recommend NOVA to everyone, I moved to Maryland now and specifically drive down to them for my veterinary needs. That's something I can't say of anywhere else I've been.

Nova Cat Clinic is the best experience at a vet both my cat and I have ever had! My cat, Hobbit, gets very stressed when she goes to the vet and normally we won’t be seen or she has to get a shot so they wrap her in a towel and send us home... At Nova Cat Clinic they were so patient with her and let her kind of do things when she was ready.. It was the first time we were in a lobby and she wasn’t loudly meowing/crying. Dr. Brown is the best vet I’ve ever met. One of my cats is diabetic so we’ve had a lot of vet appointments over the past few years and a few close calls that have left me wary of veterinary practices. I will never go to another vet for my cat. Ever. Dr. Brown treats my kitty better than most humans are treated at their doctors offices, and really respects and loves her. My cat used to hate going to the vet but ever since Dr. Brown has treated her, she loves going to the vet, and is so happy afterwards! Staff is wonderful, prices are reasonable and on each invoice there is a line for “tender love and care- $0.00”. Do yourselves a favor and trust this clinic, you won’t regret it!

My cat Billy and I had our first visit to NOVA Cat Clinic a few days ago. The staff was extremely welcoming and attentive and the vet we saw, Dr. Barron, was so calm and nice and explained everything to us. Billy seemed very calm as well. We'll definitely be back in future.

Our visiting cat, Sylvia (belonging to my daughter and her family from) came down with a UTI. We were quickly able to make an appointment. Sylvia has had these infections before so we knew what her treatment should be, and NOVA Cat Clinic had her records from Washington State. The doctor was thorough, explained options clearly. Sylvia responded well and was back to her usual self later the same day. I highly recommend NOVA Cat Clinic for their professional, compassionate caring!

They have changed a lot since COVID. You can’t go in with your pet so they sometimes forget the questions that you have about your cat. They don’t allow for emergency pet appointments so they leave you stranded when you have a pet emergency. You would think that a place dedicated to cats would take care of your pet when they’re in need but this place is more “assembly line” than true care for your pets. We moved to a new area and the contrast is even more apparent because we found a family vet (husband and wife team) who go out of their way to support your pet, let you attend in the room with your pet, and can find an appointment when there is an urgent need. I don’t recommend this place at all.

This place is an awesome animal clinic for cats only. They are SO cat friendly and the rooms even have little places for the cats to hide. My cat was not at all stressed and was able to explore and just become comfortable before his exam and vaccines. And Dr. Brown is so friendly, answers questions, and genuinely wants to help people and their cats.

The vets at Nova Cat Clinic and staff are great. I took in my 5 month old kitten and they did a full work up - diagnosed her - and recommended an appropriate place for follow up. This is the best clinic for cats I've ever been to .I had a cat that had an extreme situation( he's now gone on and crossed rainbow bridge ),Dr Marcus Brown was wonderful and the whole staff was great .I love Ellen the vet tech there. They all love the cats and the cats are just absolutely very well behaved. My cat who is a big whiner was perfectly calm there.

We've been taking our cats here for four years, two old ladies and two brand new (at one point) kittens, and we've had a wonderful experience every appointment. We had two emergencies (two different cats) and both times we were able to get an appointment swiftly and the expertise of the doctors and techs is evident and, just as important, their care for each kitty is comforting as an owner. I am never concerned about how my cats are treated here! We also had to make the difficult decision to say good-bye to one of our cats and the entire time everyone was so gentle and calm and helped us through that process. I am so grateful we were there! The front desk people are lovely and provide excellent customer service. If you have a cat (or two, or three) this is the best clinic in the area!

Dr. Valentino was very informative and super helpful with my sometimes grumpy older male cat! She called him “the perfect gentleman”, and although we love him very much, we don’t call him that at home 😹. **update!** I took my sometimes grumpy older male cat back to have some dental work done and Dr. Bazemore did an amazing job. Not only did she safely complete all the treatment necessary that day (which was pretty extensive), she talked to me at length afterwards/ answered all my questions, and sent me an email very after hours with biopsy results I had been nervously anticipating. You can tell she is competent, compassionate, and enjoys what she does. I’m very thankful for all the docs and staff at this clinic!

I am very happy with my experience at NOVA. I have taken my cat to 2 other vets in the area, and I wasn't impressed with them. The Vet at NOVA called me and talked through her concerns, and also they send a report card explaining everything. They brought up health issues no other vet has mentioned to me. My cat is now 12, so she is needing more specialized treatment, and I know they will be able to give her that.

Very hit and miss. Some drs are great (Dr. Torres answered all of my questions via phone when my cat was at the end of her life and I had to come to terms with euthanasia) but I have had multiple experiences of not being able to get a call or email back from anyone.

THE BEST CAT CLINIC EVER. I took my kitty here after our general vet noticed something potentially amiss and I could not have found a better place. Dr. Bazemore is an EXCEPTIONAL doctor and she took so much time to answer ALL of my questions. She explained everything to me in detail, provided so much support during our visits, and always kept me up to date with all test and lab results. The front desk team is also incredibly helpful and understanding of all my concerns and worked to get my cat seen ASAP. My kitties (present and past) have been Nova Cat Clinic patients for well over 20 years. Since Nova CC serves only felines, my cats have a greater level of comfort than at vets which serve all animals. All the doctors we’ve seen are caring cat lovers. They truly understand and like cats which translates into excellent care and treatment. The waiting area and exam rooms are quite cat-centric - another plus. I just can't get over or make clear enough how great the team at NOVA Cat Clinic is. I've taken my cats here since their very first vet check up and it has always been a pleasant, safe, and fulfilling experience. They take great strides to create a calming environment for their patients and their attention to detail is incredible. I had recently taken my cat to a 24 hour emergency clinic for problems swallowing, and within minutes they were talking about shots, expensive procedures, and surgeries. I opted to wait (she was not in immediate danger) until Monday to take her to her doctor at Nova Cat Clinic instead, and within minutes of seeing her they had been able to spot the problem, generated a much more conservative and less-invasive treatment plan, and had us feeling comfortable enough to leave her with them for a while. Less than two hours after leaving her there the team had managed to resolve her problem (swallowed something sharp, I love that cat but she's not the smartest) in the least invasive manner possible and outlined a further treatment plan for her on the spot. I pick her up later today, but I already feel confident and secure knowing she's been taken care of by the wonderful people at this clinic. The only reason I wouldn't recommend this place is because I don't want to fight you for appointments! But that said, I've never had trouble finding a time that works for me. They do great work here, it is the best veterinary office I've ever had the pleasure (or displeasure) of visiting. Don't forget to greet the office cat (but don't pet!) when you stop by!

Dr. Barron and the others at NOVA are incredibly kind and thorough in their care. Our two 15 year old cats are far more comfortable in their extremely feline friendly—and dog-free—office than they have ever been at previous veterinary practices. They are very knowledgeable and explain everything clearly and honestly, without ever seeming pushy or focused on selling overly expensive and largely unnecessary extra services. Standard services are certainly not cheap, but they’re within range of similar places here. And the quality of care is above and beyond.

If I rated NOVA on care of felines, it would get 5 stars. Not only does NOVA provide excellent veterinary cat care, but the vets go way beyond normal communication with clients. NOVA's only shortcoming is scheduling appointments and providing them with forms required prior to an appointment. NOVA has improved greatly in this area since the start of 2021, but making an appointment is still not smooth. I still believe that clients have too many factors to consider for a vet clinic to schedule appointments strictly online. You can make appointments with NOVA over the phone, but it is not a smooth process, either. Online, you request a date and general time for an appointment. But you don't know whether you have secured that slot until you get an e-mail confirmation. If you didn't get the slot you requested and the confirmed slot doesn't work, then you have to go through another process to change the scheduled date/time. But a greater problem is completing and submitting the forms required prior to a visit. NOVA requires an electronic signature, which is awkward for people who are not accustomed to how this process works. The greatest frustration, however, is that this process provides the client no confirmation that the form was received. Subsequently, we receive notices that we have not submitted the requested forms. When we have contacted the office staff, sometimes they have received them. Other times, the office staff says that "the system" sends out these requests even if the forms were received. This is NOT a fault of the office staff, but it IS a fault that the owners of NOVA need to correct.

Dr. Valentino was fantastic, walked us through everything that she was doing and her findings, and did not push us to make any decisions while still advising what she thought was best. Excellent clinical care! Dr. Bazemore was so kind in answering all my questions and letting me know which services were necessary vs which services were optional for my kitten. She was very informative, knowledgeable, and so helpful. I did not feel pushed into any services and even elected to have all services done anyway. Even the staff were wonderful and friendly! Been coming here for 10 years now to keep consistent care for our cats but we are done. Can't get emails or calls returned without multiple attempts. Prices are super high. Tests are pushed without explanation. Just waited for an hour and a half in the parking lot with a very unhappy cat for an appointment. That's not how appointments work. I have no idea why they would run things this way on purpose, which they confirmed is standard.

NOVA is truly second to none. We have been visiting the clinic for about a year and a half, and I’ve been quite happy with the maintenance care my two cats have received. Recently, I had an early morning emergency with one of my babies. After visiting the emergency vet for stabilization, NOVA was able to fit us in to care for him. They were so accommodating and professional. It put me at ease to have him with the people I trust at NOVA. Thankfully, my buddy is on the mend. I highly recommend NOVA if you’re looking for a vet for your feline friends!

I have been coming to NOVA Cat for 15 years when it was called Capitol Cat Clinic. The vets are great and I'm only giving it 4 stars because I always have to wait so long to bring my kitties in. I really can't wait a few days to a week when they are sick today. They don't even try to fit you in. What's the point of having a regular vet if you're just constantly referred to go to urgent care when your cat is sick? I do like them a lot but due to availability of appointments I have been force to see other vets. Check out my reviews of those local vets.

I can't say enough good things about NOVA Cat Clinic: their professional staffs are competent and compassionate, administrative staffs are friendly and helpful and their feline staffs perform their hostess duties with charm and grace. My senior cat has had several diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. All my questions have been answered before the plan of care developed and all alternatives have been discussed. When a plan has been made, they provide lots of good feedback regarding progress and outcomes. They are careful to attend to her stress and pain level. We just brought our new adopted cat in to NOVA for the first time for a check-up and vaccinations. The vets were SO kind to him and seemed to genuinely care how he was doing the whole time, doing whatever they could to minimize his stress and make him feel at home. The vets we saw were all incredibly knowlegdable, answered all of our questions in a non-judgmental way. We will definitely be bringing our other cat in soon for his first visit as well. Definitely recommend!

Because my asthmatic cat, Sunshine, was not doing well with her current treatment, I was encouraged to take her to a cat-only clinic. I filled out NOVA Cat Clinic’s online forms and forwarded Sunshine's medical records. After reading the submitted info, the clinic staff called to see if I could bring Sunshine in earlier than planned so that they would have longer to work with her. Because of the pandemic, Sunshine attended her first visit at NOVA Cat Clinic without me. I stayed in the car and received multiple phone calls from the clinic staff during Sunshine’s 1.5 hour visit. Dr. Bazemore explained the results of Sunshine’s exam, listened to my thoughts and concerns and explained what she hoped to learn from additional tests, which I agreed to have done. A six-page follow-up document with the results of the visit and the tests was sent a couple of days later along with a brief explanation of items of concern that will need to be monitored. I feel like the staff at NOVA Cat Care is genuinely concerned about Sunshine’s well-being, and I’m confident that emails and calls will be returned in a reasonable amount of time. So far, Sunshine is doing OK, but I know that could change at any time. At least now I feel like there is a team of professionals that really cares about my cat’s health and will work with me to make sure Sunshine has the best life possible.

Took our cat here for about a year, but decided to switch vets. I didn't like that we didn't always see the same vet or even the same two vets (in one year we have saw three different vets) and had some communication issues. The final straw for me was when I was inquiring about a treatment plan for my cat and I was met with a very condescending attitude from the physician. I understand they do this every day, but I don't have a medical background so I just want to fully understand all of the risks before going through with treatment. We switched to Kingstowne Cat Clinic and I am very happy with our decision. At our first visit to Kingstowne I asked the vet quite a few questions, and the vet was very gracious and happy to explain everything.

I've been taking my cats to NOVA Cat Clinic since I moved a few years ago. Their service is very good and they take my cats' health seriously. They have an effective and responsive online platform, iPhone app, and staff. Each one of their vets will follow up through email with any questions or concerns I have, and they have been excellent about providing service in the middle of the pandemic. The only downside is that their services are expensive. My most recent visit was an annual check-up for my two cats. The bill included blood work, fecal sample analysis, a vaccine for one of my cats, and the general exams and the bill was $624. Regardless, the service is very good and we're happy to know that our cats are healthy.

We love Nova Cat Clinic. We have 3 cats. One is an adorable Abyssinian, 16 years old. Another is the sweetest cat, a Flame Point Siamese, Spike. Both have dental problems. The Nova people are very accommodating, caring & friendly. The Dr. allowed me to stay in the room while Daphne was being treated so Daphne was calmer. The manager also came in to speak with me about Daphne & stayed awhile when. They both had dental work done under anesthesia. The Dr's are competent, especially Dr, Brown. I have had a wonderful experience with NOVA Cat Clinic. I had previously been to other Vets in the Northern Virginia area, but NOVA Cat Clinic is the right fit for my family's needs. We have two cats, one is a senior, the other is a kitten. My older cat is normally frightened when heading to the vet, but she seemed at ease in the office. We were seen very close to, if not exactly at, our appointment start time. The waiting area is professional, while still maintaining a home-like feel. The office staff are very nice. Dr. Barron treated our cats with respect and examined them thoroughly. I was listened to in regards to my pets' behaviors, and the doctor and vet assistants did not oversell on products. They had great suggestions for acclimating my cats to one another, as well as had their vet tech/pet dietitian help me work on my senior cat's weight gain since moving to grain free food (She is allergic to grain). This was provided at no extra cost. When I had a concern about my young kitten's health, I contacted NOVA cat clinic and got him in to an appointment. The doctor even communicated with me via email (although I was offered both by phone or email) to determine whether an appointment was necessary. When I came in, we discussed all the options, and Dr. Barron presented us with options. We chose to have a blood test done, which cost way less than expected considering the times I had felt robbed at other vets. I am glad we did the test, because my pet had a severe infection. I am confident with the care provided by NOVA Cat Clinic and would recommend them to any cat owner!

I have been bringing my cats to NovaCat for years! Dr. Wootton and Ellen - The Vet Tech are awesome people. They helped me take care of my Romeo cat who had IBD and lymphoma for three years until he got too old to handle it anymore. Nova cat has worked with me in caring for a few ferals/strays that I have brought in to get neutered/spayed and vaccinated. The staff there is wonderful and caring. I have never had a problem. Some complain that it is overpriced at Novacat, but I don't think so. Considering where Novacat is and what they deal with on a daily basis - I understand the cost and fees. They do an amazing job with my cats. They are thorough and follow up with me to see how my cats are doing after check ups and treatments. NovaCat is a Number 1 - top of line Cat Vet if you ask me! NOVA Cat Clinic is truly special. I can't say enough wonderful things about the care both of our cats have received and the communication we get is unparalleled. When we lost Atlas last year, we were overwhelmed with the kindness and compassion we received from our last visit to the clinic to the cards and emails they sent after. When it was time to take our other cat in, while Annika was not thrilled about visiting, it's the most calm she's ever been at a vet. I appreciate their "cuddle hold" while doing things like eye drops or nail trims, the kindness and gentleness the vet and techs use with all cats and the clear adoration they have for all things feline. We trust and value the input from the vets, the pricing is more than fair and I know without a doubt their only goal is the health and wellness of my best girl. One of the other things I really appreciate about NOVA is how they educate us on what is happening, how things feel, etc. etc. We're not given a medication with instructions and sent out the door - we're told what to watch for, why things happen or don't, what our options are, etc. I've never have a vet in all of the 11 years we've had Ana, explain all the treatment options for her eyes and walk us through decision points. The front desk regularly follows up and proactively shares next steps. Bottom line: I trust NOVA implicitly. I love their social media and their compassionate and educational care.

They've also been great with my other cat, who had to have several teeth pulled along with other normal cat issues, and with me, who has worried through every procedure. The vet techs and front desk staff couldn't be a nicer or more professional group of people. There are a lot of vets closer to my house in NW DC, but it's worth the drive to NoVa - and that's saying a lot given how much my cats hate the car ride :-)

If you think that you’ve ever been to a vet clinic where your cat was treated like a queen (or king), then think again. Our four-year old Himalayan wanted to wonder around the moment we stepped in. She simply felt home. Even when we got in the examination room, she kept her joyful mood before, during, and after the examination. The fact that the clinic is exclusively for cats may have played a role, but the genuine care and friendliness of every single person we met is amazing. From the receptionist to the nurse to the doctor, we’ve never witnessed such care. Even when withdrawing blood for some tests, our cat wasn’t irritated. The lovely lady kept on pressing on her leg to make sure not to have any bruise that I wished I had such care the last time I had a blood work myself! We have been going to Nova (formerly Capital) Cat Clinic for almost 20 years. They are friendly and caring and go the extra mile for our cats. The health care our cats have gotten has been excellent. I don't know what we will do if we ever get a dog!

This was my first time visiting this clinic and I must say I was really pleased with the care we received. I have a large, stubborn cat, and the vet and her assistants were so delicate with him and never tried to force him (which some vets have in the past) to do anything he didn't want to. It was such a less stressful visit for both myself and my fur-baby because of their delicate care, so hopefully he won't be as scared during any future visits! They also didn't try to "oversell" any services or care as some vets have in the past. NOVA cat clinic will now be my go to for all of my cats needs!

I moved to Arlington, from out of state, in mid march this year. I moved with my three cats ,two of whom are seven and the oldest was 18 years old. She suffered from arthritis and she had a major, long term eye infection which had grown much worse through the move. In searching for a new Vet I learned that NOVA cat clinic ( a cat only practice, thankfully) and their incredible staff had glowing reviews. My sweet , beautiful, 19 pound, 18 year old cat was clearly suffering and had stopped eating. I quickly knew that I had an amazing, caring staff in my corner with my cat Chloe. She was cared for lovingly and tenderly . Blood work was done and Xrays were completed and her pain was eased with medication. Her heart was not strong enough and her general health was not good enough at eighteen for her to manage a surgery to remove the eye and her pain was severe. My options were clearly and compassionately explained to me and I realized that the most loving thing that I could do for my sweet cat would be to let her go and end her suffering. She could no longer even eat or drink.I have never experienced greater care or compassion than I received from the Vets and entire staff at NOVA Cat Clinic. I was ushered, with Chloe, to a new exam room which had windows and, in addition to an exam table, it had a cozy sofa and Dr. Wootton asked me if I would like to sit on the sofa with my Chloe who was now wrapped in a blanket in my arms and together the three of us huddled quietly as Chloe was so tenderly and quietly given two injections and my sweetest of cats peacefully crossed that rainbow bridge and now, it's been less than a week and I am in tears again as I write this but I know that my dearly, dearly loved cat passed peacefully, unafraid and without pain from this life to the next. This is not the kind of testimonial I would hope to be writing but I am so deeply grateful to the entire outstanding and compassionate staff at NOVA Cat Clinic for their caring. I definitely now have my Arlington/Northern Virginia Vets and I will soon be taking my two seven year old cats for their first routine check up visit to their new Vet. Thank you to the deeply caring, incredible Vets, front desk staff and techs. This is an exceptional practice! Look no further if you are in search of a Vet for your cat. Dr. Marcus Brown and his team gave my cat excellent care, treating her for hyperthyroidism with specialized I-131 therapy. They kept her in their specialized rooms and monitored her at all times. Dr. Brown also gave us daily update reports so we knew how our kitty was reacting to the treatment. They even have remote cameras so we could see her from our home in Cleveland! The team at NCC is the best in the business! I've been going there for about 9 years. I had an elderly cat who had diabetes and eventually kidney disease. They really take the time to discuss treatment options, teach you how to medicate and what to look for. I once had to take my diabetic to an ER vet. She started walking strangely while there and the Drs. there said they'd never seen anything like it. One quick call to Dr. Brown to describe the symptoms and he knew exactly what it was. They are a feline-only clinic and if you have a cat, you MUST go to a feline specialist. I moved about 25 minutes away a few years ago, but I still take my new kitten there (and adopted her from their wonderful non-prof kitten foundation). I can't say enough about the staff - everyone from front desk to doctors. There are too many to name. They are all ace professionals, respectful, kind and love cats! Pre visit: very easy to get an appointment that works with your schedule During visit: They showed extreme listening and empathy skills towards cats and owners. It was the first office that I feel like didn't scold me regarding cat care (for example my cat struggles with weight and they weren't condescending or blameful when addressing it like previous vets). They even gave a gift card as a reward for being prepared for the appointment. Post appointment: They quickly following up with the appointment to cover topics they didn't get to talk about and reaching out again about the diet with more detail. They also let me know that in a few months I could have a follow up weight assessment at no extra charge. Would highly recommend

This place specializes in cats, so they really understand the variety of personalities cats have. I've seen them work with three cats in three different ways, and they know cat body language so well that they are instantly aware of how to treat your kitty. They are very reasonable about getting a medical procedure done - if the animal is in distress and they have an alternative way to do it, they stop trying to do it in a way that causes distress and don't bill you for the procedure your cat "declined".

The people here definitely care about cats, and the atmosphere is calming and professional. However, we eventually decided to pursue another local vet for treatment of our cat. She was suffering from an allergic reaction (rash, itchiness, bleeding) and, after several visits and different treatments (all of which were unsuccessful, which was NOT the vet's fault), we were finally quoted $900+ for exploratory surgery/bloodwork/skin scraping. We did not have the money to afford this, and chose to get a second opinion elsewhere. Our second opinion gave her a steroid pill and switched her food, and she has gotten much better. I'm frustrated that, at NOVA, the simplest option was overlooked in favor of a very costly alternative. I believe that they did their best but, in any serious situation, I would recommend getting a second opinion, just to be sure.

Dr. Barron has treated Eeyore numerous times, from routine exams, to a UTI, to dental procedures, skin issues, anal glands, etc. I have always been impressed with the facilities, staff, and services. They have always gone above and beyond to find convenient appointment times for me, including drop offs. Pricing is fair, especially laser treatments and medical boarding. Dr. Barron does not suggest over treatments, which is a relief from what I have experienced at other veterinarians. I also love that this is a cat-only practice. Big plus.

We have been frequenting NOVA Cat Clinic for several years now, as we live in Arlington, not far from the Clinic. But that's not the primary reason. While traveling in 2014, we boarded our kitty, Shadeaux, at NOVA Cat Clinic. While away, she revealed signs of ill health. Not only did Dr. Marcus Brown email us daily with an update, but he nursed her, and made an appointment for us upon our return at a local advanced pet care facility. In this way, we could take Shadeaux to the appointment immediately upon our return. Dr. Brown's daily contact with us, and his prompt attention to our kitty's needs solidified our belief that this is the finest, most caring kitty-care facilities around. We now have two new kitties, and wouldn't think of taking them anywhere else for either medical care, or boarding. Absolutely the best team ever! Our gratitude is never-ending!

Way overpriced. We had to put down our cat today. They asked for $329.35 for the service and $465.35 with private cremation. We found a local vet that does the exact same service (we compared specifics) for $90. We've been very happy with their services for many years, though they are generally the most expensive vet in the area. But Nova had no explanation for this 350% discrepancy. I'm hurt that they try to gouge us when we are at our most vulnerable.

This is bar none the best vet for cats in the DC area that I have been to, and I've been to several practices over the years, including the big ER hospitals. Been going there for years now after a range of experiences elsewhere, and these folks take absolutely fantastic care of my cats. Dr. Brown runs the clinic and he is an amazing veterinarian, super friendly, and really knows his stuff. The staff are all friendly and caring and knowledgeable, and my favorite part is getting to pick up and pet little Emme, one of the clinic cats - I wish I could take her home. I suppose they might be higher-priced than some other practices, but it is well worth it, and they are not as expensive as other, lower quality clinics and hospitals. And to the contrary of what others have said, the vets here do NOT try to sell you on services you don't need - just the opposite in fact.

I had to take Poughkeepsie in on Friday morning for radiation treatment for his hyperthyroidism. It meant that he would be radioactive and unable to be home with me for a few days until his levels were low enough that it'd be safe to bring him home. I've lost my other two cats this year (16.5- and 17-years-old) to old age/kidney failure, the most recent just five weeks ago, so I was very reluctant to be away from Poughkeepsie for a few nights. Dr. Brown did a wonderful job via email and phone leading up to the drop-off and in person on the morning of to prepare me for what to expect and pre-emptively telling me what I would need to do to care for him when I brought him home (Dr. Brown knows that I'm a teacher and need to be able to plan in advance and has ALWAYS taken this into consideration when it comes to having to drop off or pick up my cats, scheduling appointments, or knowing how and when he can reach out to me during the school day with questions or updates). Dr. Brown stayed in regular contact with me throughout Tipsy's treatment (over the weekend!!!) to update me on his radiation levels, that he was eating and drinking, etc. The best part of this whole experience truly (besides being able to bring Tipsy home) was the live feed. Dr. Brown has a camera set up in the room where Tipsy was and sent me a link so that I could see Tipsy while he was there. In the wall of nine cages in this lead-lined room, Tipsy was staying in a cage that had a ledge in it, gave him access to an adjacent cage so that he had more room to move about, and the cage was located right in front of the big window in the room. I was so happy that Tipsy would be able to look outside just like he does at home. I was able to share the link to the feed with my family in OH so that they could look in on him as well. Dr. Brown and his staff have done such an amazing job caring for Tipsy and my other two cats, Sissy and Puppy, for the past eight years, and I refer all of my cat-owning or want-to-be cat-owning friends to NOVA Cat Clinic. Driving 90 minutes round-trip from DC (usually in rush-hour traffic because of school hours) is never fun, especially with an unhappy cat in the car, but because of how amazing Dr. Brown and his staff are, I'm willing to make that drive knowing my cat - and I - will get the best care there. I just recently adopted a dog, and if I could take him to NOVA, I absolutely would. I cannot praise them enough!

We have a long history with NOVA Cat Clinic (NCC), going back to their days as Capital Cat Clinic. Our cat Trevor was a longtime patient there when we lived in Arlington. NCC helped us manage Trevor's health, from routine visits to his diagnosis of renal disease and his eventual death. Trevor definitely had a better life to the very end because of NCC's care. And thus, so did we. When we later adopted Fritz and Sophie, we took them to NCC for their routine health exams. NCC also took care of Fritz's challenging dental problems and Sophie's chronic urinary problems. When we eventually moved to Alexandria, we found a vet closer to our new home. But when Fritz began to exhibit signs of poor health, we knew that NCC's approach was a better fit for him, and we returned to NCC for critical care. NCC took steps to enable us to get the best hospital care possible for a Fritz's unfortunate manifestation of a mysterious bacterial infection. We are still battling that problem and are consoled only by the fact that NCC remains dedicated to Fritz's issues. We highly recommend NCC for both routine and catastrophic care. It is necessary to make an appointment to be attended, it is required to do it online through a form (for dental care and specialized things you have to dial directly). The day of your pet's appointment, when you arrive at the parking lot you have to dial to notify and wait inside your car, shortly after they tell you to go to the door to leave the pet, you must wait in the car for what dial the vet to have the consultation. It sounds weird, but the service is good and very attentive. (Update; Apparently care is now in-person on-site as COVID restrictions have been relaxed in the County.) It is important to highlight that they send you the instructions and generalities of the consultation by mail, which is perfect for you to keep your record. They also sell medicines on site or the vet gives you a recommendation if you want to buy them elsewhere so you can get what you need for treatment. I preferred to purchase it on the site, and the medicine kit comes with detailed instructions and everything needed to administer the medicine to the cat. I highly recommend them for kitten care. They also sent me a tracking card for my cat a few weeks later, which was a nice touch.
