Our 7 year old boxer had a torn CCL, was limping quite a bit and needed knee surgery. We opted for a TPLO repair, wich was beyond our regular vet’s expertise. After some shopping around we came across TLC Pet Hospital, where we got a free consultation and a good feeling that our dog would be well cared for. We didn’t have to regret our decision! The surgery went smoothly and we could pick up our dog at the end of the same day. Post-surgery check-ups were included for the next 4 months, and during this whole time the personnel was available for any questions and concerns of ours. They shared X-ray radiographs, gave us tips for physical therapy / rehab (passive and active), and how to dose the meds (if necessary). Altogether, it took around 6 months for our dog to get back to her level of activity prior to her injury. Now she is almost 8 years old and is able to run, jump and go on up to 4 hour hikes in the mountains. We would definitely recommend TLC Pet Hospital for procedures like this!

From day one, Dr Salas has been an incredible doctor for our German Shepherd, Leo. We required a Board Certified Surgeon because he had to have a digit amputated. His bedside manner was a five star and he clearly explained each and every step to us. The day of the surgery, he called right after to let us know how it went and to let us know what to expect going forward. We have had contact with multiple vet techs, administrative personnel and receptionists and every single one of them has been kind and treated us with respect. The follow up care and medication explanation was phenomenal. Our regular vet wasn’t able to assist us with this complex surgery but we’re really thankful for the great referral. Thank you Dr Salas and to all who assisted. We really appreciate you and look forward to Leo’s follow up care.

GREAT service and VERY caring people. We had to put one of our dogs down last month and were VERY impressed with the private room we were given and how they'd come in periodically to check on us. We've taken our dogs there for years now and will continue to do so. Just great people.

The first time we went to TLC we saw Dr. Lavin. She was amazing!!! She sat on the floor with our dogs, literally inspected every corner of their bodies, and spent lots of time explaining her clinical judgement. We felt she did such a thorough job of evaluating our pets and she gave us lots of feedback and options for some of their health issues. The second time we went to TLC, we had a negative experience with the new vet Dr. Hood, who was very unpleasant. My wife felt pressured to put our dog on the schedule for an elective surgery, and we felt she was condescending about a course of antibiotic therapy as our dog had a UTI. As a physician myself, I know there's no reason to talk to patients this way. Maybe she was having a bad day, but we will be seeing Dr. Lavin moving forward!

The are in a new location that is bigger then the last. The staff was helpful as always. And kept themselves very composed and professional when dealing with a lady that came in 1 1/2hrs. early for an appointment that was scheduled for later. Thinking that if the lobby wasn't busy and just because she came in early she would be accomidated. Good job front end.

Our puppy Hades had parvo and I had taken him to all three emergency vet clinics and not one of them would help us. All other vets were booked so we just walked in to tlc and the staff were great they took us in and the vet was super they really cared about my dog. Well our boy is home and feeling much better. Dr Salas and his staff are excellent! I brought Lola in for a TPLO surgery and couldn’t be happier. From start to finish it has been an incredibly smooth process. The cost was right on par with what my research taught me. I’d recommend TLC to anyone in need of canine care.

Love this hospital. Dr Salas is the best! Very caring, understanding, and really wants what's best for your pet. He takes time to explain things and answer questions. Dr Salas did TPLO surgery on our 80 lb dog recently. He responded quickly and made time in his schedule for post surgery issues that popped up. We recommend Dr Salas for TPLO surgery. And TLC was about half the price for this surgery compared to another hospital in town!

First time going here because our baby kitten unfortunately needed amputation. From the very first phone call I made I knew I'd like this place. Jocelyn was the receptionist and she seems like she genuinely cares front he second you talk to her. They took such good care of my kitty. Explained everything so well and reach out to make sure things are going well. If your animal is going here, it's under AMAZING care. Thank you all for taking such loving care of my kitten.

TLC Pet and Uptown Cat Hospitals have been our veterinarian clinic of choice for more than 7 years; always offering consistent, professional, and compassionate care for our dog and cats! I have always felt such a personal level of commitment by every one of the staff and I especially appreciate the time and teaching efforts given to us whether during urgent circumstances, routine annual visit, or illness appointments.There have been many occasions I have been contacted by the staff and/or the veterinarians in follow up to update progress or discuss further instructions re: any of our animals. We are always given options or levels of treatment, usually starting with conservative choices with explanation of "next step" decisions depending on response. This veterinary practice has always portrayed respect and caring for the pets and the people who are attached to them!

Two weeks ago, the unthinkable happened. I lost my baby girl. She had a heart attack in my arms in the office during a simple follow up appointment for a rash. Within 30 seconds, our veterinarian, Sarah Garver took her back into the operating room, and literally a dozen staff were surrounding her, doing their absolute best to revive her. Once Dr. Garver realized my baby wasn't going to make it, she let me and my boyfriend come back and say goodbye to her before her heart stopped. They did chest compressions until I was ready to let go. Even after that, they took such care of her, letting us take our time saying goodbye. They then took the time to give us these wonderful presents when we came to pick up my baby's ashes. The card made me weep. A wonderful place with wonderful people. Honestly, don't take your pets anywhere else. I've never been to a veterinarian's office where they care so very much about their animals.

My 10 year old dog wasn't doing too well a few weeks ago. He wasn't eating or using the restroom regularly and he seemed very lethargic. He's my kid, and as all dog parents know, we love our fur babies dearly. TLC was booked out pretty far (about 3 weeks) and so I made the appointment and was very concerned over whether my dog would be okay during that time period. I called them one Thursday evening, only a few days after I booked the appointment, and was near tears because I was so concerned over his declining behavior. They were able to squeeze me in THAT DAY around an hour out and spent hours with my dog. I'll admit that the tests, bloodwork, and X-rays were pretty pricey, but they took really good care of my fur baby and were very compassionate with me, who was shaken. Turns out my dog had pancreatitis, and they were able to get him on medication and a good diet to help him recover. Over the following days, the vet personally called me for three days to check in on my dog. We had good conversations about his health and I felt comfortable asking my questions. He's going back for a check-up here in a few weeks to see how he is doing. I just felt very heard and looked after. I know TLC can be a little bit on the pricier side, but with the care and concern that they show not only the pets but the humans, I always choose them.

Very happy with the care our girls receive at TLC. They see our Golden Retriever Autumn for allergy issues as well as our Chihuahua Keiko. Unfortunately she has Addisons and TLC is handling her long term care. They've been excellent! Update: Autumn is getting older now and her issues are more serious, she still receives excellent care, we also started bringing my mom's dog Minnie here as well. Still 5 stars! Update: TLC is still awesome! My Keiko needed a Zycortyl shot and I hadn't made an appointment when u should've but they got her in anyway and got it done, can't say enough good things about everyone here!

TLC has always treated our cats well. When we had to make the difficult choice to put one our cats to sleep last year they were super compassionate and offered multiple options we could try, but were honest with what would be best for her, something that I think is very important. With our other cats they have always been very thorough with their check ups and care and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure they are properly being taken care of and are always more than happy to answer any questions. Staff is always super kind, including doctors, techs, and receptionists. Wait times are currently a bit longer than they used to be, but given the circumstances of the pandemic it is understandable, and the safety of their clients is clearly a priority. Curbside service has not impacted the quality of care given. Definitely one of the better, if not best, pet hospitals in ABQ.

My pup wasn't doing well and I needed an appt for her ASAP. They got her in that day and ran tests to find out what was wrong with her. She was at least 16 yrs old. I had adopted her and they weren't quite sure when she was born. They guessed she was 2. I could go on and on about my Izzy. Best friend, loving, unconditional love bug... You get the picture. Results came back pretty quickly and it was apparent that she losing kidney function and had pancreatitis. She had lost so much weight... Everyone there was so compassionate and truly sorry I had to make such a difficult decision. I took her home until the next day in the afternoon. I wasn't ready. Who is? She didn't suffer and slipped away quickly and so quietly. 💔😓 I'd never been here before but they treated both of us very kindly. I am still grieving and will for some time. If you ever have to go through this horrible part of losing a beloved fur baby I would definitely recommend these folks. It's hard even writing this, but if it helps anyone it's worth it.

Amazing place and people. We brought in our elderly dog who unfortunately had to be put to sleep. They made the whole thing as painless as possible. They were so friendly and caring to us and to my good girl. They gave us as much time as we wanted with her before it had to be done and gave me a nice paw impression that also can hold a picture. Their cremation is very nice as well and I am so glad I decided to that. I'm extremely grateful for the thought and care put into it from the decorative box to the card. They are very sweet and loving, they took good care of my pup when she needed dental surgery! Got an appointment fast, and they were very responsive and understanding. They explained everything i wanted to know and more. My only complaint was the that the dental surgery estimate was 700 and it then jumped to 767, which was all my money and more (broke college kid). Other than that, great service and my new go to!

I have been taking my dog here for awhile now and I have never experienced anything other than great service and caring staff. They did such a great job making sure my Cutie was comfortable and never did I feel like they were taking advantage of a situation for money. They were reasonably-priced,as I did shop around for my dogs proceedure of extraction of her teeth. Doctor was very transparent and the staff did not judge me or give me a lecture about my dogs teeth (as I did experience at another vet) but was very gracious and kind. I took my son's cat to TLC Pet Hospital recently. This was a first visit. Although we did not have an appointment Asia was seen very shortly after arrival. This is a very nice and friendly animal clinic! Everyone from the front desk clerk, the vet tech and Dr.Salas were great! I did not feel pressured to have expensive testing done. Dr Salas examined Asia and gave his recommendations as far as treatment but did caution if she did not get better she might need further treatment. I even received a follow up call to see how Asia was doing which was nice. Thank you to TLC!

When I found out my dog had a mast cell tumor, I was worried about what the outcome would be for him, and what it would cost me. TLC gave me a ton of information about the disease right from the beginning so I knew what to expect at every step. They consulted with me about the costs before the surgery, and let me know which items were recommended but not mandatory so I could stay within my budget. I can't thank Dr. Salas enough for doing such a great job with the surgery, and all the staff and doctors for their help during the recovery and follow-ups. Thank you TLC!

I feel bad for the owners who have had a negative experience here as all of mine have been outstanding. They were my dog's first vet experience and as expected, she was becoming wary as each time we go. She was alone in a new place (due to COVID) getting shots and its become more difficult to get her out of the car and into the office. But each time, the staff is SO patient and friendly with her. She is always so happy when she comes out. The staff is also so so friendly and accommodating. The only place I'll take my girl to.

I'm so appreciative of everyone at TLC and their commitment to Fear Free vet visits. Dr. Long has been so wonderful and patient with all of my dogs who are all fearful at the vet. Going slow and never pushing them beyond what they can handle has been a total game changer for me and all of my dogs, and using medication as a first line of defense rather than a last resort to alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress before and during visits has been incredibly helpful. I am so grateful for everyone at TLC and cannot say enough amazing things about them! I travel a two hour round trip to ensure my dogs have a Fear Free vet experience.

I can't speak highly enough about the vets and staff at TLC. I have had nothing but great experiences with all 3 of my dogs. The compassion they showed when I had to unexpectedly say goodbye to one of my babies was above and beyond what I could have ever imagined. We came in to TLC pet hospital because an emergency vet recently diagnosed our dog with malignant melanoma and instructed us to follow up with our current vet. Unfortunately we were unhappy with our current vet, so we began the hunt for a new vet office. After a recommendation from Rt 66 emergency vet, we found ourselves at TLC pet hospital. Everyone in the clinic from the front desk to the vet himself and everyone in between were professional, kind, compassionate, accommodating and helpful. They were patient and answered all the questions we had about our dogs diagnosis and even answered some questions we had yet thought of. The experience could have not gone better. We went in with a very dark cloud hanging over us and a lot fear about our loved ones diagnosis, and let feel uplifted, heard and confident about the future. Also I have never had a vet office ask if I was allergic to cats (which I am) and then place us in a room accordingly. Amazing Thank you Dr. Salas and staff. We will recommend you too all our friends

I am new to TLC and have been extremely pleased by the care my kitten has received. Dr Owen is knowledgeable, kind and very personable. She has been responsive and patient with my concerns. The techs have also been good. As a hospital librarian wearing many hats I also dealt with customer satisfaction thus I have a hyper-awareness where service is concerned. Kudos to your staff. Love that you offer home visits and have a separate area for cats. It is a great comfort to have found a Veterinary hospital where I know my cats are in competent, caring hands. Thank you!

Our family started using TLC about 3 years ago near the end of our two dogs' lives. They were kind and compassionate when our pets passed away and are now taking great care of our two new dogs. TLC does a good job of notifying us when either of the dogs needs regular shots and/or checkups, the staff is always friendly when we come in, and we really like our vet who demonstrates his sincere interest in Gus and Woodrow by the way he handles them and with his questions to us.

Excellent place with amazing staff! We took our puppy in when he was having some stomach issues and were greeted immediately when we walked in. The service was quick and we went right in to see a vet tech. She was very polite and friendly and understood our concerns. After speaking to Dr. Hill (amazing by the way), she recommended two products to use which should alleviate his issues. We didn't end up using the second product, as the first one took care of him in a couple of days. We received two follow up calls from TLC to make sure that everything was going good, which was really above and beyond what I expected. I will only ever take my dogs to TLC, and have since gone back and received the same great service we had the first time. Highly recommended!

My dog Rambo has seen both Dr. Owens and Dr. Schafer, they both are very kind, professional and knowledgeable. Both addressed my concerns proficiently and empathetically. Simply the best in every way possible. My fur family consist of 4 Dogs and 4Cats. My first visit to TLC was to take in my 12 year old dog Petey for an exam, turned out he was in need of castration due to possible cancer. The second visit was for the operation, which was a success. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Veterinary services are never cheap and you are definitely getting your hard earned dollars worth here. We wont take our pets anywhere else (and we have 5 dogs). UPDATE: We just received a sympathy card from TLC for the loss of one of our fur babies and I am so touched. They donated a tree to the Arbor Day Foundation in her memory. So very awesome TLC, this helped our grieving. This is so thoughtful and a great way to give. You guys are the best!!

Took my Chihuahua there yesterday for the first time they all were extremely nice and helpful, from the girls at reception to the vet tech and the doctor. I received a follow up call after my dog received two shots to be sure she was doing well. I highly recommend them to take care of your pets needs.

I had to put my cat Meow Monkey down this summer. It was really sad and hard, and I am very glad that Dr. Owen was our vet for that. She is very caring and professional towards both the cats and their owners. Later, we were even sent a condolence card in the mail. The tech's and receptionists were also very kind and sensitive and I'm glad that Meow Monkey got the care she did. A few weeks ago I had to take in my cat Schnitzel, this time we were seen by Dr. James. Dr. James is also an excellent vet! My cat was very comfortable with her, and you can tell how much she loves animals and how much she cares about them. I'm really glad she's our vet. My cat loves her! The place is always very clean, receptionists are super organized, and there usually isn't a waiting time. I really appreciate TLC, they are really the best place for animal care!

I really appreciate the thorough and prompt attention TLC gave us when we had to bring our Great Dane, Johnny Cash into the office. My previous experience of losing my other dog to bowel obstruction has left me very anxious when it comes to stomach upset, and I appreciated the sensitivity everyone at TLC showed me in that respect. I am also deeply grateful that instead of jumping right into exploratory surgery, Dr. Chavez was conservative in his approach to properly diagnose and treat Cash with minimally invasive treatments, leaving more invasive ones only as last resorts. In addition to the great treatment and care we have received during our visits, we have consistently gotten prompt callbacks regarding insurance, scheduling, and follow up questions, and always receive a warm friendly greeting at the door. I highly recommend TLC Pet and Uptown Cat Hospitals.

I just had a lovely experience at TLC! I read a few negative reviews and was hesitant to go at first, but I'm very glad that I did go. I just moved here, and wanted to find a long term vet for my 5 year old dog. From the very beginning, everything with TLC was easy - I called to make an appointment for an annual exam and a few other boosters/shots for my dog, and they easily penciled me in for a few days later. The person who took my appointment was polite and efficient. They called the day before to confirm my appointment - which was a nice courtesy! And when I got there for my appointment, the girl at the front was friendly and helpful. I was early, but had no problem getting in to see the vet shortly after getting there. The vet was incredibly good with my dog and me equally. I asked questions about several things and he took the time to answer all my questions and give his opinions about other topics I asked about such as vitamins, vaccines, etc. I never felt like the vet was trying to up-sell me on any product or medicine, which was highly refreshing. The whole visit took about an hour, but that is not uncommon with a new patient and annual exam, etc. Overall, I was highly impressed with everybody's professionalism, friendly attitudes and the price was right on par with what I've seen from other vets in other states.

And even more, it seems that they had maintained my records from the time I owned a dog in 1998 and now I have cats. When I took my poor sick, cat in, it was found necessary to euthanize her. this was done with kindness and tact. My other cat is fine but misses her old friend. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. My dog, Jesse, needed knee surgery and after a desperate on-line search for the best hospital, I chose TLC Pet Hospital. I made an appt and was seen right away. Dr. Salas is extremely Kind, Compassionate and Honest. He reviewed the options with me and made a recommendation. The recommendation was not the most expensive or invasive surgery available. The vet I was going to recommended the most invasive surgery with no options at a hospital with unfavorable reviews and one I had experience with so it was not an option. I had several questions and Dr. Salas was very patient and did not rush me. It was painless to make a decision. Jesse had TTA surgery and it all went perfect down to the weekly healing process explained by Dr. Salas. Jesse had several followup visits and the staff was so amazing. Dr. Salas returns your calls promptly as well. The entire staff treats everyone with respect and you can tell the hospital is very well run with much cohesiveness among staff. On the first day I came in with Jesse they had his name on the door welcoming him. Touches like this make a company show they care and there were plenty more touches you notice throughout the time you are there. I am very particular when it comes to Jesse and I can tell you I have no complaints or had any red lights during the entire process. I can’t tell you how highly of a recommendation I give TLC Pet Hospital and that is exactly what you will get…..TLC….

My dog came here for help with her allergies. They prescribed her medication, but they had a few mishaps in preparing it, due to lack of communication. I had to call quite a few times to make sure it was getting prepared. I am now aware that you have to call 24 hours before running out to get refill There seemed to be lack of communication between employees or something. They will tell me they are getting it ready right away and then many hours will pass and I'll call back and they will act like I never even called in the first place. Last time I was shorted 5 pills, which I paid for and this medication is not cheap. After speaking to TLC they were able to help me get a rebate back on her medicine from now on. It really does help her allergies, but I had been noticing her medication had seemed to go quick the after the first time I did not really count my dogs pills which I really should have, I felt she was running out far too quick. I'm unsure if they forgot pills from the past that I paid for, It still makes me sad and frustrated. I don't appreciate the neglectful counting. This is small, but I also do not appreciate that they have my name very misspelled in their system and always volunteer to change it for me, but never do. I never even mentioned it or cared. As long as my dogs getting care that's all that matters. It seems like they just say it in the moment to make you happy. The vet visit was fine and fairly priced. But the pet pharmacy department needs work. If TLC doesn't improve I'm going to be seeking another route to get my dogs medication she needs. EDIT/UPDATE: TLC did contact me to try to make everything better. It seems there's was just some miscommunication. My dog got her missing pills back luckily and the name has been corrected. We will continue to see how things go.

TLC Pet Hospital and its Vets are terrific. Recently we had the heartbreaking experience of having to put down our wonderful dog of 15 years. She was my constant companion and to see her so frail and in pain broke my heart. Dr. M. and an aide came to our house and were absolutely wonderful. We eased her out of her crate where she was laying, Dr. M. gently gave her the shot, while my husband and I held her in our laps (she was an 80 lb dog) and we all quietly watched her drift off to sleep. No pain, no ruckus, just peace. Dr. M. gave us as much time as we needed with her both before and after before they gently eased her onto a support to carry her to the car. Of course, everyone was crying, including Dr. M. and her aide. They are like family to us, as they have tended to all of our animals for years. My animals love going to see the vets, even though they are typically getting shots!!!! Even my shy female goldendoodle!! I can't say enough about these wonderful people. I highly recommend them to anyone who loves they pets and wants the best care for them!!!

WOW, what a truly wonderful vet experience! And that's saying something, considering I was already going into it knowing my dog would need a very invasive knee surgery. The staff was INCREDIBLE with my big boy, who has been poked and prodded by several vets in the past few weeks and therefore was wary of seeing yet another one. But the nurse and doctor were so great with him! He was pampered with lots of treats while the doctor explained the different surgical options and helped us to decide which one would best suit our pup. After having a disastrous experience at VCA, I left TLC feeling much more at ease and a lot more confident about helping my dog get back to his old self through this surgery. We have 4 critters two dogs and two cats. So we have a house full and we make sure all of them are taken care of. I love this vet office for so many reasons. One is that they have a completely separate entrance for their cat patients along with a cat waiting room and their own exam rooms. This is awesome especially for our one cat. He normally is a totally devil at the vets office but since we have started to go to TLC he actually allows exams and is much calmer, which makes the visit better for all. They are great about answering questions in person and over the phone. They really treat your four legged fur children as if they were their own and I defiantly appreciate that. They keep you informed and call to check on them when they are receiving special diets or meds to make sure everything is going well. They have excellent prices compared to other offices which makes taking care of the critters a little less expensive and who can't appreciate that.

We are new to Albuquerque and were very sad that we had to give up our incredible Vet in Denver. We were not looking forward to the dreaded search for a new vet because most of us know how terrible it is to go to the offices who only care about money and really don't provide much consideration to detail, service, or even just basic kindness. Dr. Owen and everyone of the Vet Techs and other staff members (assistants, receptionist, all of them) have been informative and helpful. they did ok, not very thorough and on the pricy end of things. i liked how they handled my pet they were sweet and gentle with him but the exam was so fast, they bearly looked at him before they decided on antibiotics. they unconfidently awnserd simple questions and rushed us out while we were still asking questions. they provided no after care for his large cut and told it would be fine... it was not fine... they dident hear our concerns about icthyness and said the antibiotics would handle it... they did not. overal not the worst experince but not good. i will not be returening to this facility

Only reason I started going to TLC was because they were the vet office that had her shot records when I adopted her in 2008, and I have not regretted it since. I am always greeted warmly by the receptionist, and the technicians and vets all take a personal interest in my dog and her well being. I have noticed similar interactions and personal care and feelings for other customers. I was deployed for a year, during which my brother took my dog to routine visits. When I took her while I was home on leave, every technician popped in, said hi, and chatted with me for a few minutes. It's this personal relationship I hold so dear to me, and haven't found in any other vet office. The veterinarians take a genuine interest and concern with my dog. They take their time with exams and suggest and explain my options and treatments, both pros and cons. I recommend TLC Pet Hospital to all my friends, and this will be my vet of choice until I either move or elect to no longer have a dog (like that'll happen!).

I’ve taken my white boxer there a few times for skin cancer checks and to have some growths surgically removed. Dr Schaefer and Dr Salas are great! They’re patient answering questions and very knowledgeable. The staff who answer the phones and escort the animals in and out are great too. They’re very careful with COVID and have strict protocols in place to ensure everyone’s safety. They also have an online pharmacy with an auto-ship option for long-term medications, which is super convenient.

Over the course of my 60+ years I've had a lot of animals my dogs have always been my family and now I have a service animal he is so special and a sweet dog, but he hates to have his paws looked at and the nail cutting is always a wreck, but not a TLC, they got down to his level sat with him and then it happened, they called him by name, not good dog, not its okay boy but his name, I saw trust in his eyes right then a there. They did a excellent exam and cut his nails. The clinic was clean and the staff was very nice and knew their business. I can go online and print out my dog's records if I want, reorder meds, make and appointment or ask a question. TLC is 5 stars plus!!!

We have been to a few different vets for my boy. Our first vet told us that because his heart murmur is so severe I should expect to have only 1 year with him. The 2nd vet we went to told us that they could do an echo-cardiogram to see how severe the murmur is, but they never got back to us on it. I found TLC for my sister for one of her pups, they were great with him so I decided to give them a shot. How bad could it be? In fact they have been the best with my boy! Dr Thompson has been proactive with my pups heart. When I inquired about an estimate for the echo I had it the same day before we left, no having to call back and hound them about that. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr Thompson and all of the staff!! Will I continue to go to them? Of course I will. I feel that between everything we do at home and the care that everyone has shown us is why my boy is still here with us 5 almost 6 years later. I can't thank them enough for the outstanding care they have provided us. I send everyone I know that is looking for a vet for their furry 4 legged babies to TLC.

I have a dog, Zeddicus, that has been a problem child for years and has required a few surgeries due to his antics. TLC has always done a fantastic job walking me through the process, providing estimates, conducting the operations, being available for questions after care, the works. Best care I've found in the area from the few vets that I've worked with in the area. They also partner w/ Route 66 Vets for their off hours so 24/7 care can be provided if necessary. I quite literally have trusted TLC with my furry kiddos lives multiple times with no regrets.

Bottom line: Thorough exam, ok pricing, honestly about which recommendations were critical and which were not, and tons of time answering questions. Would go back.My first appointment got lost somehow, but they gave me a very nice cat carrier free since I did not have one for each cat.Brought both my cats for an exam, both with different issues, one getting his free shelter adoption check up and one that cost $50. They had a laundry list of recommendations but they were open about which were critical and which were not and did not pressure me to do extra tests. The vet spent at least 20 minutes examining along with the basic exam by the nurses, and everyone answered questions in depth and gave options.

I've been taking my cats to the Uptown Cat Hospital for about 4 years. I've had a variety of vets but I have to say that my favorite is Dr. Salas. He gave my elderly cats excellent care and did not recommend things that weren't necessary. The front desk staff and vet techs are wonderful. We used this vet clinic a few years ago when they were at their old location on Pennsylvania. We chose them because they were on the list of vets that were in the "Pet Assure" network. This is a program that gives members a 25% discount for in house procedures. Unfortunately, they opted to leave that program after a few years, so we found a new vet who is in network with the Pet Assure program. When we did use them, TLC vets were wonderful and their access was excellent. Many rescue organizations use them too.

We couldn't be happier with Dr. Salas and TLC Pet Hospital. Our dog Paco had TTA surgery on his left leg several years ago (w/ a vet in Texas) and sadly tore his right ACL last fall. We read about a new modified TTA that is a bit easier on the dog and we were thrilled when we found out that Dr. Salas had done many of this kind of surgery. Paco is doing great and the recovery went perfectly. Dr. Salas, and everyone at the hospital, has been extremely communicative and helpful (even calling us several times to make sure everything was going ok). What an amazing doctor and hospital--can't recommend enough!!

I moved to the ABQ/RR area over 10 years ago. My cat had special needs, even though she was young. Unfortunately, I ended up at two different vets before I finally found Uptown Cat Hospital/TLC. Dr. Salas immediately took my concerns, and my cat's condition seriously. He gathered records from my cat's previous vets, even though we'd lived in multiple states. Through the years I've never experienced anything but the best care from UCH/TLC. I advise everyone I know to at least go to UCH/TLC for a second opinion. I've never once had a person follow up to tell me it was a waste of time or unpleasant experience; honestly, I've never had anyone who went on my advise not continue on permanently. We have been going to TLC for over 12 years. They have been there when we needed them with sick pets and preventative care. They are sympathetic and more than helpful in difficult situations. I have been told they are more expensive than other Vets but the care and respect they show you and your pets (their patient’s) is well worth it. The most recent example I can think of to show their excellence and love for animals. Our dog Abby, a 10 pounder, had her teeth cleaned and a mass removed from her hip. She spent the entire day at TLC and hates being without us. When we picked her up her nurse and Dr. told us she wanted to be held all day and so they just carried her around to comfort her. This is just one example of the special treatment they give their patient’s. Every Vet should be like TLC. Also as someone with both cats and dogs, I love the separate entrances. The cats aren’t terrified by dogs and the dogs don’t go nuts when they see the cats.

I can honestly say that I haven't had any problems with TLC. I have a very energetic, crazy one year old pup that I absolutely love to death. Everytime I bring him in, he just about goes crazy with excitement plus wanting to play/bark/cry with other dogs. When this happens the people at the front just smile and laugh because they know dogs especially puppys are full of energy. I almost always make an apppointment for which I end up having a time conflict with and all I have to do is call and they are more than happy to help me reschedule a time that is better for me. Now, I am a college student who could maybe appreciate lower prices a little more, however, I also want the best for my baby so I don't mind spending the couple extra dollars they charge more than other places. TLC has been nothing but nice and welcoming to me and my pup and for that I will forever be thankful!

I was in abq working and my great dane started having horrible diarrhea, they were able to get him in the same day, thoroughly triaged him over the phone, were sensible and conservative in their treatment approach, diagnosed him with giardia, got him medicated and on our way for a SUPER reasonable cost. I came to TLC for a second opinion after having a vet tell me that I needed to pay over $800 for a biopsy on one of my dogs to see if she had discoid lupus. Dr. Chavez was more than supportive and informed me that it was not a necessary procedure, she did in fact have discoid lupus and needed treatment right away. He spent hours researching medications that would work for my dog and kept me informed the whole time. He showed genuine care for both of my dogs and made me feel confident that they were receiving the best care possible.

Took my kittens in to get looked at after being told one of them needed to be seen. Vetco recommended TLC to us saying they possibly take walkin appts if they aren't super busy. When we got there we were told there are back to back appointments but gave us the option to drop off the kittens and they'll look at them in between their schedule. I have taken my cats to Uptown Cat hospital for years. I had to put my cat Weezy to sleep. The vet, Dr. Marsh couldn't have been any kinder as were all of the techs. Later our cat Jr. had UTI several times and Tootie had to be seen. Each time they have gone out of their way to show compassion. The cat hotel for boarding is very clean and I noticed the cats are well inter acted with. I have gone in with my mom every time and we have both been very impressed. The prices quoted were always accurate or below what we thought. It is a very relaxed atmosphere. I recomend it highly.

I brought my little puppy (3 months) in there, because when he woke up he was throwing up, wouldn't eat or drink and was very lethargic. I called around, and TLC made me an appointment for that day, then called with a cancellation so I was able to get my boy right in. The Dr wanted to do a parvo test, which I didn't want to do, I felt right off that he probably ate something that made him sick, So they did the parvo test and it came back negative thank god. So they gave me some options run some tests or treat the symptoms. So they put a patch under his skin that keeps him hydrated, and gave me some penicillin for him to take for 10 days, he started to get better right away in two days he was back to his normal self. The charges were not bad, they took half off of the parvo test. The staff here is very nice, it was a good experience with a great outcome, I highly recommend them!

Dr. Salis & Dr. Waugh took excellent care of my Cavalier, Elf, for 13 1/2 years. Kept her healthy & a successful performance dog. They answered every one of my many questions!! When recently it was time for Elf to go thru Heaven's doggie door, they did it in a respectful manner & with a few tears from Dr. Waugh. I felt they were going to miss her as much as I was. Her Papillon brother is 11 1/2 y o, is still healthy enough to be a performance dog, thanks to them. He gets his acupuncture monthly. But it's not only the Vets but the techs as well.
