My dog is almost 16 years-old, and she has always been coming to this Animal Hospital (except for circumstances for when she needed to go to the ER or Urgent Care). Every single vet here that she has seen has always been so compassionate, caring, and informative! I live 25 minutes away, and even though the distance, I will always bring her here, along with any future pets I have. Thank you for always taking the best care of her! ♥️🐾

Staff took great care of my foster cat Baxter while I was out of town. He was recently recovering from a urinary blockage, so I had him boarded to monitor him. They identified Baxter had a UTI and treated it! I was so glad to know Baxter was comfortable and being well cared for!

They are so good! I booked my appointment a week in advanced but then I needed to reschedule so I pushed it back a couple weeks. When I brought my cats there to get fixed they took them to get it all done right away. It only took a few hours and they even did their shots and got them chipped. They are so great!

Took my 5 year old girl here for the first time and the staff were very friendly! She's very anxious and nervous of new people but the staff took their time letting her warm up and by the end she was letting them pet her, plus they gave her a treat which is always nice! Highly recommend Bolton!

Traveling from Illinois to Arizona over the New Year holiday, our King Charles Cavalier Had a near fatal event. On Monday, January 2nd, we arrived shortly before opening and we were greeted and given some paperwork to fill out prior the admin team arriving. After some incredible care and communication with Dr. Horn and Whitney their receptionist, we were on our way after a few hours with our buddy Jack. I could give much more detail as to why our experience was AWESOME but sometimes a little says SO much more. Thank You Bolton!

We have used them for years and they provide top notch care, but are rather expensive. They provided good care with careful communication for my cat who was sick; I was able to drop her off and go to work, then pick her up on my way back. While the diagnosis was not definitive, she is back to normal 2 days later and I am very relieved.

The office is very clean and they were extremely kind and helpful. I felt like pricing was appropriate and like my dog got great care. All of my questions and concerns were addressed. I was scheduled in very quickly and the location is convenient for me to get to I left my original review 10 months ago with 5/5 stars. Carol at the front was so rude to me today, I’m really sad because I hadn’t had any issues here before. She had a ugly tone with me when I asked if there were appointments, interrupted me to say that there weren’t, and I informed her I wasn’t looking for an appointment until 2 weeks out, as she had interrupted me before I gave when the availability was, she acted as though I was the one who had been interrupting her and being rude. I asked her why she spoke to me in that way, as no one at this clinic has ever been rude before, and she gave a less than sincere apology. I asked if there was something else going on and that is why she felt justified in being rude, and said she has been answering calls all day. I asked if she was a part of the receptionist team and she said yes. I hope that she is not rude to anyone else seeking services here.

Took my cat in to get a culture from her sinus it is an infection of some sort will find out what when labs come back they quoted me 250 and when went to pay it was 363 but they did me right I only brought 275 with me they only charged me 263 the original quote of 250 plus taxes I did appreciate sticking to the quote

Had a great visit. We took two rascally healers mixes for general health checkups. Were on time for appointment and sent to a exam room immediately. The doctor and the assistant were good with the dogs. The dogs received oral vaccinations that completed all yearly vaccinations. This was the easiest vet visits we have ever had. My only concern was staff not wearing masks during uptick in covid numbers. Thank you.

I trust Bolton Animal Hospital and have felt very lucky to have had doctors and technicians with so much experience. They taught me how to give subcutaneous fluids and lovingly helped my 15 year old cat, Tigger, over the rainbow bridge when the time came. On two separate occasions Bolton helped me check for a microchip when I found stray cats, then performed a successful spay on the stray I adopted. Bolton also helped me sign up for a Paw Plan to manage preventive care and mitigate unexpected costs. Thank you for helping me help my animals❤️

They are conveniently located, easy to make appointments at on line, friendly and great with my 2 dogs, plus affordable and not overly aggressive with their recommendations. My cat was diagnosed with an open pyometra and Dr. Horn was kind enough to take her in right away with no appointments or anything considering this was her first time at the vet after 12 years 😅 and got her all fixed up within a 14 day span, she’s happily playing and eating again! 😌 …

They did a really beautiful job on my kitty's spay. The incision was tiny and perfectly straight. I've had other cats get fixed and have never seen one this clean. They also helped with microchipping and some shots since I could not afford them. I would give 10 stars if I could.

The doc was great and the price was more than fair. A visit like this any where else (California, Illinois) would of cost us a first born. He authored refills for scripts, visit took maybe 30 minutes where he also suggested friendlier diets for the observed condition. This is where we’ll be taking the boys for all their visits.

*UPDATE* Amanda, the manager of Bolton, personally reached out to me after the incident to help rectify the situation. My understanding is the vet in question is no longer providing services at this facility, and she agreed our rescue deserved an opportunity to show he could be a good boy. Relieved to keep our care here and to try again! I have taken several pets - all adopted from animal humane - to Bolton in the last year or so, including my 8 year old cat and a 1.5-year old rescue dog. I have had very positive experiences until recently. We took our new rescue dog in for a post-adoption evaluation and left feeling totally disenchanted. He is still very much learning the ropes of appropriate dog behavior and acclimating to a new life outside of the shelter. The vet did not treat him in a manner that reflected this at all. She had him in a choke collar and muzzle within minutes b/c he growled when she attempted to examine him without so much as offering him a chance to smell her hand or introduce herself to him and my brother. While I very much accept that dog behaviors are a direct reflection of the humans they are entrusted to, I guess I expected a vet with so much "experience" in animal care and training to be more mindful of how her interactions with a newly adopted animal could be threatening, and to act appropriately. She also offered no instruction or recommendations on how to help with his behavior. She was most unkind, and quite frankly, unprofessional, throughout the entire interaction. While I hate to base reviews on a single negative interaction, it left such a poor taste in our mouths that we have decided to move care for all our animals elsewhere. My sense after this interaction is the vet has no empathy for rescue animals who need a little extra support in the beginning, so if this is you and your pet, you might consider a different provider, at least until your animal is settled and "well-trained."

We first went to Bolton to see if my dog would be able to get surgery for a mass on her side. After our first visit they said they would preform the surgery and 3years lady my dog is doing great. We also went recently for our 1yr old dog and they were amazing with him also. Highly recommend.

Dr Horne and the technicians were friendly & amazing. They got us in quickly and we’re able to diagnose my pups issue without going thru a bunch of X-rays. They were very fair priced and I will be having Dr Horne do the knee surgery on my pup when we come back to Albuquerque. I highly recommend Dr Horne & her staff.

UPDATE: Our BIG puppy Charlotte had her spring appointment with HER favorite stylist, Brooke. Charlotte not only LOOKS & smells amazing, but she comes home HAPPY. That is a big deal to me. When I took my previous BIG puppies for grooming (tried various places before I found Bolton) they always came home unhappy and super nervous, like they had a bad person experience. When we asked Charlotte if she wanted to go SEE Brooke for a bath, she did some figure eights & sat by the door! Thanks to the wonderful ladies at Bolton, Charlotte is a happier camper... I NEVER worry about my baby Charlotte when she is at Bolton. If you have BIG dogs, get to know the ladies at Bolton. We will ALWAYS trust them with our furry companions I have a BIG, furry & strong willed Newfi mix. She is super sweet but ALWAYS a handful. The staff at Bolton is amazing & I will never take my animal companions anywhere else. Thanks especially to Brooke. SHE is the BEST groomer we have ever known...and we only hope she doesn't retire any time soon.

My chihuahua likes to bite anyone who enters his bubble. He has been turn down by other vets and labeled as aggressive, but here they worked with me on trying to get him vaccinated and checked. They actually did surgery on my Chow puppy, but do to the likelihood of heart failure, did the procedure free of charge. Since then, I have taken all of our family pets to Bolton. Dr. Horn and Dr. Dietz are gentle, have a sense of humor, and have a great team of technicians and receptionists working with them. They know what they’re doing, and I know they will always do what’s right for my pets. They’ve seen and treated my pets on short notice even though they were clearly very busy. If I can’t get an appointment in the next few days, I know they’ll call me today or tomorrow to see what’s going on. They’ve even called to follow up without being asked. My cat has been a regular patient with Dr. Horn for a bit over a year. She’s always taken his comfort and longterm health into consideration when discussing treatment options, and she’s never recommended services or treatments that aren’t absolutely necessary. I wish my cat knew how lucky he is to have Dr. Horn and the team at Bolton Animal Hospital.

I called Bolton Animal Hospital after my regular vet didn’t have any appointments available for a month to get my dog vaccinated for emergency Boarding vaccination requirements. They got me in the next day and offered a new pet referral discount, which was the cherry on top after dealing with my own sense of urgency. They were extremely nice and professional as well! Luckily all we needed was the Bordetella vaccine which was given orally and my dog left happy. They do offer vaccinations and are extremely affordable for emergency vaccination care....

I was provided with medication, a prescription for special food, and much information to help us move forward and help Holly to heal. I had to take my dog in for an ear infection. After calling 17 other clinic's with no availabilities I was able to get my dog in within the same hour I had called. They addressed the ear infection and reccomend a teeth cleaning for my dog. I was offered a dental plan to make the process more affordable. My dog walked out of the clinic happy and within days was feeling so much better. I highly recommend this clinic!

I got to meet Barbara Cohen - and as some at this hospital refer to her - she totally is a cat whisperer. My two year old cat got her first wellness check after adoption and she was healthy, and still they gave me suggestions for preventitve care at home, such as mixing wet and dry food to maintain the longevity of her teeth, and more. I'm more than happy with the experience here, and will definitely be returning with Mitsy - my cat.

The veterinarian's there take the time to listen and watch your pet to see what's wrong. with them. My baby wasn't breathing very well seemed like she was real congested and she had a really weird kind of cough turned out she has allergies and the cough came from being around other pets and she hadn't had the bordetella vaccination. Smetimes when you see the vet and they're talking to you, they're watching your pet so they could hear what you're describing and they know exactly what's going on I thought that was nice that they didn't just rush us through, not pay attention or really care. Because like we all know they're not just animals they are our children and this one is my baby. Daisy and the other one was my little man, Pepito whom just passed by renal failure. I didn't take the time to do a blood screen for him with his last physical. Daisy's all squared away now and she's in good health. Thank goodness!

Brooke, the groomer, is amazing. She got me in at the last minute and took great care of my dogs. They looked beautiful, and smelled great. Brooke is my go-to for grooming. The veterinary staff are always friendly and professional. My babies have been seen by every doctor there and each doctor has been professional, compassionate and knowledgeable.

They may be a bit busy but they are the best care for sick pets!! The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and professional. I have a 17 year old kitty with a lot of issues and they have offered several treatment plans and interventions. His weekly infusions are pretty much like clockwork and my kitty doesn’t seem too stressed out. They really care about what they are doing!

From the moment I made the appointment my expierience with this hospital was excellent... My cat maggie desperately needed to be seen for checking on her upper respitory infection.. They happened to have a cancellation that morning and I was in within an hour!!!💜 I walked into a lobby of compassion and kindness! Maggie was comfortable from the minute she walked in...maggie is a cat is appears to be part dog🤣 Both the tech and the doctor was just amazing and really relateable and knew how to handle the issue at hand... Maggie and I really loved how the doctor interacted with her!!! So in essence this hospital was one of the best animals hospitals I have been to in my 71 years!!!!!! There is also a paw plan by the month which covers unlimited office visits for a year...blood tests..vaccines and more starting from 21.99 a month for a cat.😻..dog paw plans too🐕😊if your pet needs vaccinations or tests...the plan kinda pays for itself!!! Check it all out THIS OFFICE IS ALL HEART💜💚💜💚💜💚

My new pups went in for their first round of shots with Dr. Hannah Doran. I found Dr. Doran to be very capable of answering every single question I had. I felt like her recommendations were based in good research and science, I will be following all of her directions. I enjoyed the friendly staff and I thought the measures that they took to limit the spread of covid were very smart and convenient for the customer. This was my first experience at Bolton Animal Hospital and it will not be my last. What a great place with great prices.

As far as i know it went well. My dog seems happy as can be when i picked him up yesterday . I had him neutered chipped ...shots ect. The staph is not that personable. You still have to wait outside and call there number for someone to help you. I never saw the inside of the building. The staph answers you let them know u are there. Someone comes outside gets the paper work and the animal n they tell u what time to pick up. Its a very trying thing to let one of your animals out of your sight much less to be greeted by someone who is not so friendly. Then you wait by the clock till its time to go get your pet. Once again you call ...wait...and finally greeted by someone who seems to not care much. I would have loved to see some enthusiasm from the employees....at least a breakdown on how my lil furry friend made out on this trying time in his life...but one will never know. I gave em a five star because my dog was happy n i got the after care on paper. Besides complaining will not help considering most places you go these days are exactly like this . nothing special unfortunately.

In regards to boarding- This is the perfect place for ageing pets. The staff are amazing and my 18 year old pup seemed relaxed and slid back into home life easily after boarding. I have to drive a little distance to get there and I even pass two large boarding facilities before arriving at Bolton, but its well worth the commute for the level of trust and protection they provide.

Absolutely the best place in Albuquerque. Couple weeks ago we noticed lump on our dogs toe. We took her in with only $6 in our accounts. Turned out she had cancer and they worked with us on payment plans. We were so scared we were going to loose our Pittie but these guys are the best. They were phenomenal to my Chuckie. They were professional and gave him great care. He is old, 18 and must be put to sleep for grooming. He lost at least 11 teeth in the process of intubation. He was cleaned up and given such great care. They called me right away and explained what happened. My Chuckie can no longer hear, he has cataracts, he has arthritis, he has hardly no teeth but let me tell you..... after his grooming and care of his teeth he has been much more active in the house and with the family. Absolutely the best place to take your animals to! In September of last year we noticed a large mass on our pittie's toe, and they got us in that very next day and confirmed it was a mast cell tumor. Dr. Holly went above and beyond in creating a care plan of medications to try and shrink the tumor before surgery. She answered all of our questions and addressed our concerns. And the techs were amazing in handling and caring for our crazy Ashe!! We will be taking all our animals to Bolton, and recommending them to everyone we know!!

The first time we were at Bolton was not a good reason, our little kitten was in an accident and his tail became detached, Dr. Post helped me understand what the prognosis was, our kitten was not going to be able to pee on his own and if we decided not to put him down, I was going to have to learn to express his bladder. Social distancing was practiced during the visit due to the current pandemic. Remained in the car the whole time. Called to “check in” and a vet tech came out within minutes to take our puppy (was in for its second of shots). Within minutes we got a call from the vet while she was doing a virtual exam via phone. She explained what was going on and answered our questions along with providing advice. After she was done with the examination, the vet transferred the call to the receptionist and we did the “check out”, paying and scheduling a follow up visit. Very professional procedure and I had no problems with it; no complaints...of course we got our puppy back! 👍

FANTASTIC SERVICE!! I won't go anywhere else anymore, this place is simply the best! Specifically, Hannah Doran is extremely attentive, well-trained, and understanding of pet owner's needs. I cannot praise this place enough...they are wonderful!! My 10 yr old Belgian Shepherd suddenly lost his ability to use his hind legs on a late Saturday night and kept me awake all night as he was whining in pain and I didn't know what to do or where to go. I researched online the vet hospitals in town and was upset that the 24 hr emergency VCA had such bad reviews. I waited until Monday morning and called Bolton Animal Hospital and right away was able to make an appointment. The receptionist was extremely understanding and helpful as I am on a tight budget and was very worried about costs. I was very worried I would have to put down my beloved Dakota and didn't know what to expect going into the appointment. Well, good news!!! Dr. Doran spent an extreme amount of time with us evaluating Dakota, all while making sure that he and I were comfortable and ok with everything. She explained all the possible issues and solutions, and helped us from spending unnecessary $$ on the x-rays and tests I assumed we'd be forced into. She answered every question thoroughly and listened to every concern. It was an incredibly relieving experience and a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders when some medications were prescribed and the appointment visit cost was less than seeing my own doctor! It has now been a week and Dakota is walking again and getting back to his old self!! I am incredibly grateful that he is as well as he is and the outlook is much better than I ever expected! Thank you Bolton Animal Hospital and thank you Hannah, Dakota is doing so much better!!!

We all have different experiences with places, but I couldn't bear to let that extremely negative experience from someone color the whole picture about Bolton or, specifically, about Jen Keppers.

They said they would need to run expensive tests to determine anything. When we first took him to Bolton he was so sick we thought we'd have to put him down. We drove from Durango to Albuquerque to another Vet that our local had recommended, all files had been sent, so the Vet saw photos and the notes. We arrived Tuesday for a pre-check and Wednesday surgery was scheduled. After the exam, the Vet said it would take 2 surgeries one would be 3 days away and the second 6 days away, while we rack up lodging and food costs. To top that off the bill was going to be about $4900!!! This procedure was for a non-malignant leg tumor. So we looked online for another surgical Vet. Bolton Animal Hospital was willing to fit us in on Wednesday morning. After the exam, they were able to schedule the surgery on Friday and we could pick the dog up on Saturday. The cost was $1400 all inclusive with a night stay. I want to say that Dr. Doran is the most informed, competant and communicates better then any Vet I have ever been to, she was outstanding!! Her staff was kind, compassionate and also very informative as well. Bolton Animal Hospital and Dr. Doran...thank you !

The care seems competent and professional (in my experience, you get whichever Dr. is available, and some are more personable and easier to communicate with than others), but sorry to say, I believe I was overcharged considerably. i had 2 experiences w/Bolton H. The first one was to try and save my new puppy who contracted Corona Disease which we were told was due to possible overbreeding. The vet tried sooo hard and we knew that Prince was in good hands even though he did not make it. When he passed we were provided support and comfort and Prince was treated with great respect...i'll always remember that and I'll always be grateful for the care and gentleness they showed him and us..Thank you Bolton! #2 - was different...our lab picked up a tick infestation from the woods..and we tried treating him with topical stuff and home remedies..it did not work. We knew he was in pain so we took him in. We asked for the Paw's Plan cuz he was due for his shots and the plan was a good fit for his level of care. My husband (72) asked for the Plus Plan and the woman clerk at the desk reassured him that Tyson would be enrolled..well i received a huge bill for the services and when i called to question the bill the same woman was rude on the phone and stated that she was not sure what happened and that even if i switched to the plan i would still owe more money!! That is no way to treat a good paying customer...I think they should honor the Paws Plan and discount the service..I have 4 dogs and I wanted to enroll them 1 by 1 w/Bolton..but I need to be sure that I'm getting the best value for my hard earned money! I love my pets but I can't afford to be taken advantage of..

Used to be super awesome and priced in line with other vets. I didnt have an issue with the care, just the cost. Now they are triple the cost. We had paw plans which were great until they were cancelled. My husband had asked about cancelling them as the cost even with them is just too much. When he found out that cancelling meant we would owe a lot more he said dont cancel. So they were cancelled, and I the legal owner of the dogs was not notified until 4 months later when I got a bill for allmost $1k, marked final notice. Even though it was the only notice. And now I have to waste time not only locally with bolton but collections and some coporate office....overall save your self some $$$$ and go elsewhere.
