White House Tour Memories
I recently had the opportunity to take a tour of the White House, and it was an experience that I will never forget. The tour was well-organized, informative, and incredibly engaging from start to finish.
As I approached the iconic building, I was struck by its grandeur and history. The White House is a true symbol of American democracy and seeing it in person was a surreal experience. The tour began with a brief history of the building, which was fascinating to learn about. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions about the White House's history and architecture.
As we made our way through the various rooms, I was struck by the beauty of the interior design. Each room was decorated in a unique style, and it was clear that a great deal of thought had gone into the design of each space. It was also interesting to learn about the various functions of each room and how they are used by the President and his staff.
One of the highlights of the tour was seeing the famous Oval Office. It was incredible to be standing in the same room where so many historic decisions have been made. Our guide shared stories about some of the most notable moments in the Oval Office's history, which made the experience even more memorable.
Overall, I would highly recommend taking a tour of the White House. It's a unique opportunity to see a piece of American history up close and to learn about the inner workings of our government. The tour was well worth the time and effort it took to get tickets, and I would definitely do it again if given the chance.

Interesting enough but can't write a review for the White House...
Limited entrance, of course, buy tickets well in advance. No beverages or bags of any kind allowed in. You go through three check points so pack light and the gift shop is at the beginning so you have to carry everything with you.
Of course the rooms and art are beautiful. I have never seen silk walls. The secret service is super knowledgeable.
Senthil Palanisamy
One of the best moments in my life time. Felt something achieved whenever i see these photo which were taken around the white house. It a dream for everyone to visit the white house once in their lifetime. I am proud that i made it. This place is protected by government forces much more than what you think. It seems to be walkable and just feel the experience but it is secured in its own way. Building structure of WH and the other places are excellent. Definitely you will face the difficulty while looking around for the car parking area. I visited during summer vacation and oh man, this place is full of crowd. Overall a wonderful experience.
Isabella Romero
You will learn interesting facts about the white house and past presidents. There are artifacts on display that were once used in the White House by former presidents. A nice place to visit before going to see the White House.
Jo Lopez
The best experience of my life. If you are visiting Washington D.C. please take the opportunity to visit the White House. The tour is amazing and breathtaking.
Igor Corti
We just loved the whole area around the White House.
The building is gorgeous and we were lucky that we had a sunnu day with blue skies during our visit.
We were not able to get inside and join a tour, but we really enjoyed our views from both the north and south sides.
Arif Shaikh
Good place to know interesting facts about the white house and past presidents. This should be your first stop before you visit the White House. Entry to this place is free.
Darla Mills
Very large visitors center with historical displays and photos. Nice gift shop. Employees were very nice. No appointment needed, you will go through security to enter.
Joseph Kohan
Stopped here first before our tour of the White House. Really cool and the park rangers were very helpful. Some fun and cool things to buy with White House themes as well.
Sylvia Lubberts
Interesting and informative. It's a small museum-style visitor center showing videos, photos and some furniture from former presidents. The building itself is beautiful too.
Given that the center is not in or adjacent to the White House, and there isn't that much to see, security was a bit over the top.
Gavin Noble
Popped into the Center before heading up to the White House for a tour.
It has some interesting exhibits and is worth a visit. There was a lot of cheap looking tat in the gift shop section at pretty high prices.
Still, it made for a nice prelude to the tour. Worth a visit if passing.
Mark L
A great and informative free experience in Washington D.C. for an hour or two.
You go through airport style security to enter and then is self guided around the exhibits. There is a wide range of history and exhibits to look at covering the history of the White House.
There are restrooms and a good gift shop inside featuring a wide range of souvenirs to buy.
Definitely worth a visit
Gail Burton
Couldn't get close, especially in the park.
Heading back this summer
Gregory Brown
Awesome place to get the history of the White House even if you are not able to get into the actual house. I love that this is free to all. There are a lot of very nice pieces of history to see. I would definitely go back again.
Brian Merzbach
Located just a couple blocks from the actual White House, this is nice little museum that provides a thorough history of the president's home. It is free of charge and also features a small gift shop. Highly recommend if you are in DC.
Jonathan Bishop
Interesting museum, but the security checkpoint staff at the entrance are unnecessarily rude and each went out of their way to yell at us over seemingly arbitrary policies that aren't posted anywhere, such as (apparently) only 8 people being allowed in the front entrance at a time. Being repeatedly scolded just for visiting when you're following all the posted rules really degrades the whole experience and makes you not want to come again. Those security personell are there exclusively to handle visitors, so they should really be trained to provide guests a friendly and positive first welcome to the museum.
Michael
Everything metal has to come off to go through security. Nice place to rest while waiting on a White house tour. A must stop for clean public restrooms. Has historical displays of the White House and a gift shop.
Deena's Adventure Vlog
When I last visited DC I never knew that there was a visitor center. This time we suddenly saw the visitor center while walking on the road. We had an amazing experience. Just awesome! Everyone should visit there.
Jesse Enloe
We apparently were quite fortunate to be able to get into the White House on this trip as we'd put a request in for the tour less than a month before our vacation and I'd heard you'd need to request a tour several months in advance. Security is tight, as one could imagine, so be sure to follow all the prescribed rules very carefully. The security stationed around the home are quite friendly and informative, giving the history of each room in which they're stationed to all who ask. Our timing was great, as we got to see the presidential motorcade leaving right as we showed up.
Mitch Vine
More like a small high quality museum. Will keep you going for an hour with high quality exhibits You can miss the 20 min video. For the real white House tour you need to book 3 months in advance.
Anushree Kogje
It is a good place to visit to get a quick peek into White House structure and stories, especially if you do not have the advance booking for the White House tour itself.
A security check is done at the entry.
Kevin Pelley
The White House was dressed up beautifully for Christmas. Our trip was easy fun and stunning. We requested our tickets three months prior through our representative. We showed up 1 hour early to the White House Visitor Center, where we discovered that the entrance is across the street. The White House Visitor Center was a great place to start, with a 12 minute informative video, models and Miniatures of the White House, and artifacts with information about the life in the White House. We also picked up several gifts for family members at the gift shop at the White House Visitor Center. 30 minutes prior to our appointed visit time we made our way to the security entrance across the street from Pershing Park. There are three separate screening areas, but all were easy and non-intrusive. The White House itself was fully decked out for Christmas. It looked and smelled like the holidays. The tour is self-guided, but there are Secret Service agents everywhere who are very friendly and willing to provide information about the room in which they're posted. We highly recommend this tour for anyone.
Ryan Barley
Very cool place and I wish it was advertised better. Once you find it it is a great museum, full of information about the beginnings of the White house. Also it tells of the evolution the building went throw over time. Cool artifacts that show the people who interacted with America, old house hold items that were used to entertain guests and old furniture the past presidents sat on. Pretty quick museum over all in comparison to all the other museums at the National Mall.
Freeman Tao
Interesting and varied displays. Not as much content as I thought there would be. Due to our group's early entrance time, we visited the White House before walking down the the visitors center. Even the hallways in the White House have been a part of history and the entire place is a museum. It would have been nice if the we could have reversed the order. We would have had more background information before stepping into the White House.
Danny Brown
I really enjoyed the tour but the only thing that disappointed me was that the tour was not long enough. It is more or less a self-guided tour but there are a Secret Service agent in each room to answer any questions you may have. Wished we could see more but we knew that was not possible because of security concerns. We would recommend this tour.
Jeff Rutherford
Today was one of the most profoundly Inspiring days of my life! It was almost overwhelming.
I was in the place where everything that is our Country has been done. The Power was Incredible. I am proud of the service I gave to my country. And today I was given the honor to walk the halls and be in the rooms that have witnessed the most important decisions made in our country. And even the world.
It was humbling and exhilarating, scary and wonderful, and i was Proud! It's hard to describe what it was like. Everything was perfect, and in good working order. The people working were the absolute professionals and incredibly nice. I was able to be inside the building that has seen Elvis, Abraham Lincoln, JFK, Teddy Roosevelt, Mohammed Ali, the Queen of England, the Heads of State to almost every Nation since it was built.
It has been burnt to the ground and re built but the walls have always been there. The walls have heard death and children playing. Goats have lived and dogs have played. every war except one has been played out in it. Peace has been kept and won, all for a simple idea. "For the People by the People."
I saw the desk that was used to sign the Civil rights act and help organize NASA. National parks were made on it and Nixon resigned. Winston Churchill was there and the room that witnessed the death of Osama bin laden and Benghazi. Terrible and Amazing things happened in it and it made me feel...everything! I was in the White House! IT WAS SO FREAKING AWESOME
DJ H
While we didn't really plan to visit the White House Visitors Center, it was an enjoyable experience. We we're actually just looking for a rest room and we were told by the White House Park staff to go to the White House Visitor Center. This place is free to visit and has many interesting item to see that once belonged inside the White House or were once gifts to previous US Presidents from other nations. I would recommend coming here.
Axel Müller
Nice visitor center with much information about the White House (presentation boards, information boards, cinema show and so on).
A gift shop is also on site where you can buy a lot of souvenirs and other things. At the entrance you have to pass a security check.
Lin Staley
My husband and I were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to tour the White House many years ago when we were in DC. It is an amazing feeling to be there and walk where Presidents have walked and conducted the business of our country. The rooms are amazing and none of them the same. There is even the individual china with a different pattern that each President chose for his term in office. It's an experience that you won't forget.
Chuck
Security folks friendly but professional. Tours are self guided. Facility is amazing... as one would expect of the home of our head of state. Amazing amount of history, but you have to bring your own resources, as the secret service agents, with one amazing exception, volunteered no information.
Jainif Marediya
Wish you could get a better view of the White House
Carlos Aguiluz
Great place to learn about the history of the White House. Really enjoyed the amount of artifacts that this center had, not too overwhelming if you have small kids.
Ajeet Kumar
It's a lifetime experience. You will be able to take a look on previously used rooms for theater, dinning area, meeting rooms, pictures of previous Presidents etc.Security check is high and one take pictures but not videos.
Johna Bohanan
This is an under advertised museum filled with more information than what you get on the actual White House tour.
Find Mrs. Denise in the gift shop and ask her about an ornament. Any ornament.
You will get a history lesson from an incredibly gifted employee who should be recognized for her outstanding professionalism and detailed knowledge of Presidential legacies.
Mike MC
If you not able to get into the White House tour there is the Whitehouse visitors centre which is a fantastic insight into the workings of the Whitehouse. There is lots to see and there is even a gift shop. The room itself is worth looking at too. The staff here are fantastic and friendly. they are also very knowledgeable about the history of the Whitehouse
Shannon R
Truly came in here just to use the restrooms, but had a great time here! The gift shop is really nice with a great variety of items with many different price points. There is a lot of historical information throughout the visitor center. Great place to stop! Going through all the security before entering didn't make a lot of sense to me just for a visitors center, but staff were kind and explanatory. Bathrooms were in nice shape, properly clean and well maintained. Great place to stop before (or after) heading to the White House.
Rodyna Zabbit
Expect to spend a couple of hours here. We walked in without a reservation time and we were still able to get tickets for the next tour, for which the wait was only 15 minutes!
The orientation movie was an amazing and very interesting history lesson and all packed into 13 minutes!
Just one FYI...when they say NO food or drinks can be brought into the visitor center, they are not kidding! But don't throw out your water bottle! Just pour the water out and keep your empty bottle, because after the tour, you're allowed to fill it back up!
Also, if you're not coming with a bus load of people, there are more than one set of visitor entrance doors. Plus the one from across the street...
Steve Derrick
Some neat artifacts and items on display. Young kids may not want to stay long.
Woman in gift are was awesome. She thoroughly went through the details of most of the ornaments. Pretty neat.
Marie Tyree
You can get all kinds of knick knacks and gifts from here. You can't buy them online. So, it's something special that really shows support for the White House! They have an amazing Lego White House model on display for Christmas. It's ADORABLE!
Ivan Paredes
The White House is one of the places you need to see if you’re in Washington D.C.
I would recommend the tour inside and also to admire the architecture and beauty of the building itself.
Kaprece James
The White House Tour was amazing but avoid bad winter days and close to Christmas Eve because you may be pushed through after you waited an hour to get inside.
leonidas lio
Very interesting place / museum to learn everything around the White House and its history. There is also a screening of a documentary about the importance of White House, in which you can hear the voices of a lot of ex presidents of the United States. The entrance is free of charge, there is only a security control that all visitors have to pass (nothing exaggerated). A place that I highly recommend to visit to every tourist that comes to Washington!
Rachel Stenta
We didn’t think we’d enjoy it but we did. A beautiful collection and so nice to restore perspective on everyone who has built where we are today. Fun to learn more about First Ladies and first families.
Ron Knowles
Must see..we didn't get a White house tour. However, we did enjoy the visitor's center after a few pics at the gate. The video of past presidential families living in the White house was very interesting...actual interviews and pictures. Must see.
Ayenba Abney
Great introduction to the White House. There is an awesome model display of the White House. Many presidential artifacts to purchase except,Obama’s.

The White House is the official residence and workplace of the president of the United States. It is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C. and has been the residence of every U.S. president since John Adams in 1800. The term "White House" is often used as a metonym for the president and his advisers.
The residence was designed by Irish-born architect James Hoban[3] in the neoclassical style. Hoban modelled the building on Leinster House in Dublin, a building which today houses the Oireachtas, the Irish legislature. Construction took place between 1792 and 1800 using Aquia Creek sandstone painted white. When Thomas Jefferson moved into the house in 1801, he (with architect Benjamin Henry Latrobe) added low colonnades on each wing that concealed stables and storage.[4] In 1814, during the War of 1812, the mansion was set ablaze by the British Army in the Burning of Washington, destroying the interior and charring much of the exterior. Reconstruction began almost immediately, and President James Monroe moved into the partially reconstructed Executive Residence in October 1817. Exterior construction continued with the addition of the semi-circular South portico in 1824 and the North portico in 1829.
Adam Wiener
It was difficult to find (look for the blue awnings just off thr main road INSIDE the department of commerce. Because its inside the commerce building it was a bit confusing to recognize from 15th street. The displays and artifacts inside are really informative.
Alexander Algar
Take the guided tour. Very informative. Great history and an opportunity to see areas you wouldn't normally be able to view.
Nick Davis
Don't quite understand all the security requirements to get in, but its an okay open visitor center, that contains some interesting history about the White House.
Rich Thuemmler
Lots of information about the history of the WH. Super interesting. Gift shop has neat items as well.
Jack Truijens
It was a very cool place but there was this person who did as if he was the boss named Joe Bidin or something he was like so old aswel
Sherri Barham
The White House Visitor Center is very well done. It tells the history well through a variety of displays. We visited early in the morning, missing the crowd, and had a pleasant visit. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The gift shop had variety of unique items.
Jennifer Soto
Interior is beautiful! Not much to see so it doesnt take long to get through it (maybe 30 min). Gift shop has unique gifts. Good stop if you want out of the weather for a bit.
Nicole Guerrero
After being on a tour at the White House coming here felt like the perfect end for the kids. They got their badges as White House Junior Rangers and loved every second of it. Perfect Show and tell piece.
Michael Mili
We were hoping for a White House tour, but we did not make the cut. It was still a great experience at the center to see the history of the White House. It was an honor to experience this great place with my wife and children. One disapointment, as it was at many of the national sites there was not much available about our current president Donald Trump. No data memorabilia or souviniers. It should not matter what party you favor, he's our preside t and we should honor him at these historic sites. They should Fix this. I had to buy stuff from a vendor on the street.
Christopher Hessler
Kudos to this place. It has a nice bathroom prior to heading to to a bathroomless white house tour. It also has a respectable gift shoo to commemorate a visit to the seat of democracy. On top of that - its a respectable historic museum to give some context to what you'll see at the actual white house, so right on that. I'll also concede that we did have a US president named Andrew Johnson - did not believe that for a long time.
Aakash Chugh (Chef Aakash)
Do checkout the national christmas tree right infront of the white house. Due to new laws tourists and public now cannot enter the white house. Sad. Wished to go in n explore.
Olive Juice
The security agents were a bit stiff and didn't seem to mind when the metal detector went off when I walked through. The lady told me not to take off my coat because her shift was almost over. I didn't mind too much but would rather security take their jobs a bit more seriously given all the violence in the world today.
The second security guard that I met walking through the second set of doors completely ignored me when I smiled at her and said hello, so that ticked me off...
Aside from that, there was some pretty cool stuff to look at and an interesting film being played on the large screen in the back. The gift shop was alright, just a bit pricey.
Amanda Molina
You should go in the morning that is less crowded. If you want to learn a little bit more about the history of USA it’s an incredible place to go. They have really nice souvenirs.
Alexander Coughlin
Everyone was so kind and upbeat! It really made the experience even more special and memorable. Kudos to the staff who do a fabulous job!
Anthony Bachtiar
White House Visitor Center.
I used to see the White House on the screen of a television or sometime in cinemas. A place that symbolizes the freedom of mankind, a big country and as a melting pot of all nations in the world.
It would not easy for me to come here, at least I need to fly for about 21 hours. Then one day I have a chance to visit Washington DC and I won't let myself miss the opportunity to visit the White House and join the tour.
When I got there on Tuesday and I didn't lucky, there're very long queuing of people along the fence and the tour already close then I come back again very early on Thursday and finally succeeded.
The security procedures are very tight a lot of Secret Service persons seen there and I saw the signboard of restriction before entering the place such as; no pet, no aerosol, no gun, no knife, no smoking, etc.
Once you are inside, the tour is self-guided and will take about half an hour including the public rooms in the East Wing, which includes the Blue Room, Red Room and Green Room; the State Dining Room; the China Room; and a view of the White House Rose Garden.
Only in my imagination I can meet the President and visit the Oval room.
Nice experience and forget not to drop by a while at the souvenir shops to buy something there, as proof that you have been there.
Matthew Prado
Semi-decent tour of the White House, however there isn't much to see and the communication system for narrating the building is a hit or miss.
Gregory Stiller
Short wait to get in the day I visited. The Rangers at desk were wonderful. Smiling and full of helpful advice. Made my day. Friendly and genuinely happy with the job. Thank You.
Maricela Chavez Ruiz
Excellent place to visit. Restricted access, however, you can enjoy the beautiful views from behind the fence.
Ayu Hamamah
We had actually requested to the Member of Congress for a White House tour but they said that they don't have an opening on the date we requested. When we visited the White House, we couldn't even access it from the front yard, so they must have closed it for some reason, which is disappointing.
Alyssa Gatcomb
There is a documenyary style movie that is wonderful for learning the perspectives of past and current presidents, the whole building is like a museum too.
Deanna Sutton
Highly recommend taking this tour! All of the employees are super nice and helpful! We really enjoyed ourselves!
Michelle Burns
Not what I thought it would be... was hoping for a recreation of the Oval Office... just had some memorabilia and information.
priyatham manne
Loved it. Also the gift shop is having some good jewelry
Kevin Loeffler
Security was rude and slow. The actual museum is wonderful and the guides very nice and helpful!
Roy
The tour is for appx 45min. Its good but not as expected. Worth visiting once
Michael Carullo
Lots of history of the white house. An interactive feature where you can see the stages of the white house as it was built over the years.
Robyn Cox
There is only one gift kiosk so make sure to get your souvenirs when you get done in the photo hallway.
Phil Trivilino
Great history lessons. Tight security, had small pocket knife and had to dispose of it. The security rules use no common sense. Lady behind me had a 3' closed umbrella with a "spike" on the end and she was allowed in with that "weapon"? Just does not make good sense to me. I'm not complaining about my pocket knife, just the rules enforcement.
Steve Summerlin
I enjoyed walking by the White House on the weekends. You never know who you might see. I saw George H.W. Bush, his wife and their dog Millie. When I went around to the front, I saw Dan Quayle stopping to pick up The President of Turkey. On my last visit, I saw the White House and snapped a photo while on a Segway. I once took the tour inside as well.
Jonathan S
Really cool and short visit museum that’s free. Not a lot to see but worth the 1hr it takes to look around at things. I found it interesting to learn about our whites house and see some items donated to the museum.
Zoe Ryan
Great museum, free, and gives a good history overview of the building and what it’s like to live there, great gift shop too.
Jerry Withrow
I would skip this one for one of the others if you are short on time. Some interesting stuff but not much
devaraj ramareddy
Excellent facility display of all the history of presidents and the beginning of White House
Well maintained
Good rest rooms
Ellie C
For non-US visitors, as close enough experience to the Whitehouse that we will ever get. Artefacts, videos could keep you there longer than you think. Good toilet facilities and free wifi.
Rassul Kassymbekov
The visitor center is a good place to acquainted with the great history of the US symbol.
Moniker Nomenclature
Very informative! I learned the President Gerald Ford was the only president to serve as a park ranger. My kids swore in as junior park rangers. An unforgettable experience!
Galina Slaveeva
A lot of information and very interesting documents and pictures! Professional service! Very good shop too :)
shams
The home of the most powerful head of state in the world, yet it’s actually smaller than most other such buildings. It took me 30 years to see the White House. It was beautiful. There’s also a lot of security. And protestors.
Lawella Sweeney
Contact your representative for tour passes
Trisha Smith
Loved it! Found out things I never knew! The inside of the building was beautiful of course!
A M
A nice alternative if you can't visit the White House.
Jasmine Arnold
Very clean and well kept. Air conditioning was a plus. The restrooms could use some work, but overall the things to look around at were nice.
J Williams
Very nice prep for the main event. Samples of furniture, (particulary the Bellange chair) state china, glassware, etc.
Interesting reads/tidbits about the history of the house and some of it's occupants. Not a museum per se, so it really is an in and out type of attraction.
Joanne Hoffmann
Absolutely must make this a priority stop on your next visit! So much history and information!!
Joy Seeker
Nice informative visitors center, under construction at this time. Federal building, so high security applied. Metal detectors, purse and bags scan. Lots of presidential memorabilia displays. A short 20 minute film on the Whitehouse inner workings is available. Tours of the actual Whitehouse are limited now with a prior approval after a background check only. Gift shop, restrooms.
Eddie H
Nice self guided tour to see the history of the White House. Good educational experience
Richard Austin
Great location to start your walking tour around the area
Join Fur
The heightened security for the kind of exhibit, seems over the top & excessive.
Anas Shebli
Great place to visit prior to visiting the White House. Supplies you with maps of DC and knowledge of the White House. I recommend this visit.
ST
Informative about the White House. You can see the room inside on the screen. A small visitor center tho
LWT
It is best alternative to know White House. There are many information and stuff from White House. Furthermore, various souvenir make me crazy!

Donald C.
Lots of great information about the White House. Has just enough exhibits and be in and out in about an hour or less.
AH
Alot of information about White House construction and architecture, president's life style and history and important artifacts collected over time. Enjoyed the interactive display.
James Beckett
Well worth a visit if you are a non US citizen and therefore unable to tour the White House

Lanash Lath (Dezignstar)
Must see if you are a visitor to DC.
Daniel Chiaramonte
A nice place and very historic, if you take your time you can be there for hours
Matt B
Nice little building that is detached from the white house. That has some history of the white house and some things that were used.
Sze Wai Ho
Nice preview of a bit of history of our nation's one of the most important buildings in the world.
Arun Kumar D
Most people forget or misses to drop in at this place. This is a very beautiful must visit place in DC. We liked the details and artifacts and innovation of this place.
Ch Hsuzuki
I can see a lot of information about the US president.
Joan Peno
Was very nice. The instructions on getting in, waiting in line were slightly confusing. You will go through a metal detector.
S. J (SiSi727)
It's very difficult to get inside the White House but this place gives you an idea what was inside of it in the past.
Sze Wai Chow
Great history lecture, little surprise with a company in the bathroom.
Greg Whitehurst
Very efficient security. Only problem was rude people(adults) stepping in front of children. Not the White House's fault.
EVERLASTING LOVINGKINDNESS
DOWN TO EARTH FRIENDLY STAFF, THEY CLOSE THEIR DOORS AT 4:00; HOWEVER THEY DO NOT CLEAR VISITORS OUT , AS LONG AS YOU GET IN
BY 4:00 YOU CAN MAKE PURCHASE OF SOUVENIRS AND VISIT .

So much to see and do. A good half day is needed here
fred reinmann
It's was neat to see. But if you plan to go the white house you have to make reservations 21 days in advance.
Teadora Monteith
nice area, free, informative, and cute gift shop. it's not open Mondays which put a damper on my plans but luckily I was able to return
Real Luke
Pretty fun and neat place! If you can't get into the white house, this provides a tiny taste of its history.
Fahad
I would definitely recommend it for all the history nerds out there
Matthew Turner
The security who worked the visitor center were rude and unprofessional.
Samantha Gamize
Very historical, they also have a quest for the where they get a white house pin after.
Kathy Austin
It was ok but don't go out of your way to see
David
A visit is definitely worth it! It was very interesting. Many thanks!
Bob
Great place, short tour but worth it
Elise Bell
It was awesome to see some of America history. And it was beautiful.
Marius Røstad
Interesting to learn more about the White House. Also some items on display
Carlos Gomes
Truly a member whole experience. Taking a step back 200 years of history and more like a museum.
Jason Bracetti
It was full of History very nice place
B LEE
Came early in the morning. Very quite and good to see the evryday life of the whitehouse.
James Honeycutt
Your the white house at Christmas! This was absolutely stunning. The White House is such an amazing storied place. All the rooms you have always heard of(except if course for the oval officeb which we did not get in to) were decorated for the holidays and was absolutely breathtaking. The staff running security was efficient, polite and had a sense of humor. Really a great experience!
Colin
You can see a big White House near by
Shamanne X
Realy good overview about the White House. I can prefer the movie. Some prominent people talk about the White House.
Nik Rowan
The actual visitor’s center is a bit hard to find but once you do the exhibits review the history and construction of the building itself.
Renee Maxwell
The White House Visitors Center was actually really cool. It was a lot later than I had anticipated. Of course there is security and metal detectors to go through to enter the building. Inside there are loads of different items such as furniture to dishes to random trinkets from various presidential families. Also a really awesome place to sit on benches and watch a video about the presidential families present and past. This would be an amazing place to go in the middle of the day when it's super hot in the summer.
Scott Walczyk
Very cool. They have so many buildings and museums to visit for free! This visitor center had a ton of belongings from our past presidents. Very cool video they show as well. I love the "behind the scenes" stuff they show.
Justine Soucy
So, if you're like me and didn't do your due diligence before coming to Washington, then you would have been pretty surprised to find out you need to book your visit to the white house 21 days to 3 months in advance. If you're a US citizen, you will need to ask your congressman or woman to set up a visit. Otherwise, you need to go to your country's embassy to schedule a visit.
However, the silver lining is that this place is wonderful to visit as a consolation prize. It's a wonderful little museum that looks at the history of the White house and its inhabitants. I really enjoyed my time here. Just like most places, you will need to pass airport like security before entering and there is a gift shop. I enjoyed the gift shop, it's pretty cool to get an official white house notebook.
Kevin Meier
Touring the Whitehouse is a must for all Americans. Do it!
Robert Cox (travel bob 367)
It's a nice place to visit. Shows different aspects of the president's life in the white house
Snoopy “Snoopy”
It was a nice place. Inside during the brief rainstorm, great little movie, some nice displays. And a clean and accessible bathroom. There are TWO junior ranger badges you can get here - the White House, and the President's park. Its an easy booklet.
Soelem Aafnan
Very helpful staff, great decor inside
Craig Stevens (Tandaz)
Very informative and interesting location. They have a great gift shop with official white house memorabilia. The staff are very kind and helpful. My kids enjoyed seeing some of the old furniture and ways the White House has grown and changed in it's over 200 year life span as our leader's home.
Rhina WBP
The line to get in was super long. Several checks through the line to verify and make sure security is followed. Secret service was soooo awesome with my little son. Really nice interactions with him. I truly appreciated it. Once you get in its move along at your own pace to see various rooms. It is kind of crowded inside but it is very interesting to see. Secret service is in some of the rooms and can answer questions or give information about the rooms you get to see. They are very knowledgeable.
Tahmoor Ali
Information center is a good way to start your trip in dc
Bill Hughes
Was disappointed in it during my visit. Expected there to be more. It was fine for what it is, but I had higher hopes.
Reagan Lynch
It’s inside the department of commerce building so you must go through security to get to the visitor center. The visitor center is pretty interesting with various displays about the White House throughout history. The gift shop has a wide range of items for various tastes and gifts and other items. Prices at the gift shop are typical and do not seem to be too expensive. I’ve paid far more for the same number of items I purchased here at museums in other cities.
FoodiesAtHeart
Air conditioning is always nice. Great souvenirs to buy, including Christmas ornaments from many different years. You will have to go through security just like at an airport, but it is worth it. Lots of information here. We stopped here prior to doing the White House Tour.
Jerry Riter
Across the street from The White House. It was very interesting and the Christmas traditions. The home/office residents of the president
Fredrick Omondi
Very friendly, safe and secure place to visit. The ambiance is celestial with friendly security personnel...Cheers
Pr
I liked to go and see the White House.
But you don't have clear view much because of barricades they put, so you have to view from long distance...
But I still recommend to take your kids to show white house and other near places, will give your kids great experiences...
Good luck!
Brent Laughlin
They have some really interesting pieces from previous presidents and their families there. You can learn some interesting facts that you may not know about different things that happened in the white house. The theater off to the side has a really interesting video playing on loop worth the watch.
PQ D
What a great stop while touring our nations capital. It’s nice and cool inside with some nice historical information about the White House as well having a fun little scavenger hunt for the kids. Upon completing the tasks in the book your kids will recite the pledge and get your certificate stamped and a badge. There is also a gift shop inside which has some of the gifts that can be found in the White House East wing tour gift shop, some are exclusive to the White House only though, but the visitor center does have some cool gifts.
Michelle Lerner
Only come here if you're a fanatic of the white house and DC. Be prepared to pay for an overpriced EVERYTHING. Plain shirts with a simple picture are about $40. And don't get me started on the security check they had us do before we came in. The people there weren't rude, but were definitely unprofessional. So not worth my time. Even as a tourist I wouldn't recommend it. You're better off visiting actual historic places and taking pictures of them yourself rather than paying for someone else's touched up pic of the white house.
Denise
Good information center to learn more about the white house - great if you didn't organize in advance for the tour. It's free, air conditioned with interesting displays about it's layout and past inhabitants. The store has some interesting stuff.
Tanya Koller
We didn't get tickets for the WH tour so Visiting the White House welcome center was really great. You learn history about the White House as well as view actual items from over the years as well. Highly recommend the movie narrated by some of our previous presidents and our current one as well. Loved learning the personal stories too from the leader usher, electrician.
Steve Cline
Super efficient and hardly any wait time for our tour of the White House.
Stacey Fenton
We came by to get a White House ornament for this year and last year. The security staff is rude and expects you to read their minds. I was sent outside to leave some property that couldn't be brought in and they went ahead and put my wallet and phone through the check. Luckily I wasn't outside very long. Inside the staff was amazing.
Pyra-Danny V
This place was surprisingly EXCELLENT! Although it’s free to enter, be prepared to go through a simple body and bag scanner. Upon entry, the dapper yet alert staff were quick to point us in a direction to begin the self-tour: watch the video towards the back. From there it’s easy to stroll around, admire the miniature model of the White House at the center, and learn many different aspects of the House including history, site of events, through the years, and more. All items on display were well-paired with easy-to-read signage. And check out the Visitor’s Center’s ceiling while there- it’s large, airy, and features a beautiful engraving.
Matthew Miller
This was a great stop, especially for families with children. You can spend as long as you like here, but it is probably a place to spend around 45 minutes at most. Kids can do activities and even get a "junior ranger" badge, so if you need to induce some active participation, this is a good option.
Doris A
It is a great place. It tells a lot of the white house. It even shows some food the president ate and, all. It is very informative, and it has a lot of visuals. I put one star less because, I don't think it is necessary, and to me it was a little boring. But if you are really interested, I recommend you to go. The museum only tells you all about the White House and it’s presidents. But as a tourist, I recommend you to go if you know nothing about the lifestyle in the White House and it’s president. There is a fun video showing inside the White House. Also this museum is not so far from the White House.
Deanna Larsen
Very interesting going to White House
Dana O
It was wonderful! Great stop and learn. Just the right size.
Andrew Cuevas
One of the greatest visitor centers I've ever been to! It's elegant, pristine, and most importantly, informative! Only two blocks from the White House, this visitor center is chock-full of artifacts from the White House (see pictures) that are sure to impress everyone. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this center, as it will amaze you!
Gabriela
Very organized and interactive place. There is a lot of very interesting information accessible and understandable for everybody (children and adults) !
Charlene P
Very neat. We actually did the White House tour and although it was cool to say we went, it was very short and you don't see much at all. The visitor center had a lot more info (which I assume they planned it that way).
Carrol Cass
Very interesting exhibits the gift shop is over the top expensive
Laura Jerbi
If you can tour white house...next best thing
Lots of artifacts and pictures. Very nice displays. Gift shop has oodles to choose from. Museum is open and airy. Short video too.
James Neuhaus, jr
Interesting, not what I thought it was going to be...make sure to linger and ask questions. Have fun, take a LOT of pictures. There really isn't much for the teens to do unless they are interested in politics and history. Keep that in mind before you go. The movie is very good, watch it twice.
Allie Genia
This place is a little hidden - it's easy to overlook if you're coming in from the wrong angle. Oh man, but what a worthwhile stop! Make the time to check it out. There's a lot of history there about the White House itself along with some of its residents. There's a small selection of fun artifacts and very friendly staff who are happy to answer any of your questions. Take the time, it's great!
Kyanna Clark
Very thorough security at the entrance. The museum is really interesting! You get to see lots of old things that used to be in the white house, and at the very back, there's a small film that really nice to wind down with. Also, a gift shop with a lot of options for gifts.
Haqua Wellness
Highly organized city. Beautiful Roman architectural buildings. Highly organized traffic. A place worth to visit. Any tourists entire the US should never miss to visit and walk around the entire federal buildings, the White House etc. Truly impressive!!!.
Darron Wood
Loved the visitor center, learned a lot about the White house
Chris Kohman
The White House visitor centre is a fun and interesting location. I have never done the tour of the White House as you have to apply for a tour through the website and I never went through the process. So the White House visitor centre is a great alternative to touring the actual white house if you haven't been able to set up a tour in time. Location is easy to find, and inside there is a lot of artifacts and pictures from the white house. This location also has a gift shop, which has a lot of great quality products for purchase at reasonable prices. The visitor centre is a great free location.
Farzin Razi
It's a real enjoyable experience.
Sadique K
Within walking distance to the White House.. this place gives a great insight into the layout and significance of each room in the building. Very friendly and helpful staff. Do watch a short film on White house at a mini theatre within the visitor centre.
Gary Clarke
Great historical account of the White House.
Biff Boswell
Because the actual White House is difficult to get into without Congressional approval, this is the next best thing with actual historical artifacts, wonderful displays, and a video presentation. The gift shop is luxurious featuring real, authentic, and quality gifts instead of the cheap, tourist-trap knockoffs sold on the street corner. It's secure (metal detector screening to enter), air conditioned, and features large, clean restrooms all free of charge.
Wingchiu-Henry Ho
I never thought I would be so moved by anything like memorabilia from the White House, but the video was rather touching.
Chaboon Davis
This place is full of history and interactive learning. This is a great place to take kids, families, dates, friends, or just yourself! You have to take time to watch the looped video in the seating area; it is a very nice video made with ex-presidents talking about their time in the White House.
Kymmer Rush
Loved this long hall with tons of information and artifacts from the white house
Amy H
Definitely worth a visit while in DC, whether or not you are able to tour the White House. We spent about 60 minutes here including watching the film on Reflections from former first ladies which was well done. You could spend much longer looking at all the artifacts and reading all the information and history provided. They have a nice interactive exhibit showing how the White House has changed over the years, and the gift shop has a great selection of items, including many of the past White House ornaments.
Peter Knickerbocker
I have lived in DC for several years and for some reason never made it into this museum till last weekend. I was pleasantly surprised how well designed and informative it was. I visited with 3 young children and they really enjoyed the museum as well. There was a movie with lots of people connected with the white house sharing their memories of living/ working there. They did a good job of being apolitical and just talking about the building's history. I am a history nerd but still learned lots of things about the white house I didn't know before. Recommended for anyone visiting DC!
Steve Pagano
A very well done exhibit. More of a museum than a visitor center perhaps, but that's neither here nor there. Lots of good stuff to see, read, and touch. Not too big or too small. Well worth the visit.
Terrence Lee
Need to write your congressman several months in advance to get a pass to visit the White House.
Brandon Perkins
Very nice visitor center. Close in proximity to other desirable places to visit in Washington, DC. Beautifully decorated and maintained well. Many independent shops set-up that offer high-quality merchandise for reasonable prices.
Jackson Campbell
This place has a lot of interesting information on the White House. There are interactive screens that let you tour the house. There is a short movie you can watch on the house with recordings of different presidents. There is a gift shop. If you're looking for more merch, I would recommend checking out the White House Gift Shop down the road a little.
Patty B
Put a human face on the people living in the white house & what it was like for them. Let you put aside your views on whether or not you liked their politics, and just feel what they felt a little bit. Nice to sit & relax during the video too.
The Grumpy Traveler
A little underwhelming. The gift shop took up maybe 20% of the floor space and their prices were unreasonable especially for tourists coming from other countries.
Entry was free though so I really shouldn't complain.
Mark Skarupa
Ducked in just to get out of the rain and was pleasantly surprised at how cool it was. Had a lot of fun exhibits from the history of the White House. Definitely stayed well past the rain stopping.
Sai Tarun Meka
A bit of insight into stuff from the white house.
Behzad Taimur
Awesome Exhibits? Check.
Public restrooms? Check.
Fun activities - esp for kids? Check.
Great gift shop? Check.
Tours? Well yeah. But you have to book online weeks in advance.
Parking? Kind of. Plenty of parking space. But hard to find a spot 'cuz of all the tourists
Kapil Sangwan
It's free entry for visitors. First clear through the security and then walk through some very nicely displayed artifacts of the great white house.
At the backside of it, a movie is shown which covers the lifestyles of the great Presidents on The US.
I really loved the dinning table containing the quantity and budget of the food items loved by several POTUS 😊
Take your family pic in front of white house prototype or big wall painting, it feels like standing right ahead of the white house virtually. Haha.
Must visit !!
Nobody Special
The visitors center is ok but not worth the hassle of going through the airport like security, including removing your belt. Going through with a disabled person and all the things we have to carry was too much of a pain to make the museum worth the hassle, been there, done that, it's time to move on.
Anita Winchester
I enjoyed the visitors center. I especially enjoyed chatting with Denise, who works in the gift shop. The people who work security take their jobs very seriously, and tend to bicker in front of visitors. To the point that the young woman working on this day was on tears after her coworker kept griping at her. Other than that, it was a good visit.
Lee Atwater
Nice but still disappointed they stopped doing the line formation at day's beginning for a tour. Now you have to plan it months in advance and are dependent on your congressional reps to get back to you in a timely fashion for something they don't care about in half the cases
Daniel Draper
Nice little museum when you don't have tickets to do an actual White House tour. Some fun exhibits like the "weird food presidents have ordered". Overall if youre running low on time skip in favor of other attractions however
Tonya Watkins
The White House Visitors Center was incredible! We enjoyed the video featuring several past Presidents giving their insight into living in the "people's house". Great displays of presidential artifacts, etc.
Andrew Prell
Definitely visit here! All welcome.
Ethan Stein
Very interesting museum about history on the White House, they have a lot of interesting artifacts from different presidencies, there are restrooms and a small but large gift shop selling from a model of Air Force 1 too jelly beans.
Phyllis Gibert
Great assortment, lots of interactive displays, and we enjoyed the video presentation!
Mark Bartlett
Check it out before you go to the White House.
Dave Schmidt
Very nice visitor center! Informative displays and a gift shop with all kinds of cool stuff! You have to go thru a metal detector to enter and the entry doors are very heavy. Overall great experience that I highly recommend!
Max Scott
Very educational. We weren't able to get a White House tour, so this was the next best thing. The facts there were interesting, such as the food different presidents preferred. Try to watch the short film if you can.
Julien H
Nice short White House history information center.
You can go there before going to see the White House on the next street.
You can see the WH better from the other side of the ellipse since there's lot less people trying to take pictures.
Jordan Goy
A lot of info. A good place to see and learn White House history
Josiah Kinney
Very interesting exibits and history. Actually getting into the white house is hard, but the visitor center makes a nice alternative. Learn about the building through the ages, and the men and women who occupied it.
Ali Alper Veziroglu
We wanted to visit but learned that for foreigners you have to apply to embassy a while ago then get permission ... etc etc that's normal.. it's white house.. but too much procedure made us yield.. I'm sure inside is great but didn't have a chance to see
Chester Woods
great way to check out the history of the White House...and it got us in out of the heat wave.
Vicki Kerr
Not only were there artifacts from bygone presidents, but there were lots of stories about their usage. There were videos at several displays that showed the objects in use. There was also a film that had lots of interesting, and sometimes surprising facts.
Craig Winn
Don’t show up at closing time. When they say it closes at 4:00 they are flashing lights and yelling on a bullhorn starting at 3:50. It was actually quite rude. The facility was nice and interesting but honestly I was a little disappointed. It was my ignorance but I thought this was a starting point to visit the actual White House until I learned that that visit takes planning months in advance. Oh well. Lesson learned.
Rick Detienne
Wonderful collection of White House memoribilia. Lots to see, but manageable size to visit. You don't want to miss it, especially if you aren't able to tour the White House.
Priscilla Ebersole
A sleeper hit. It appears that this particular visitor site is often overlooked, based on it's absence from guidebooks that I read, and the fact that it was practically empty during the tourist season. This is a fantastic center, lots of information and great exhibits with neat historical items from different presidents. They even have a national parks junior ranger badge available for this location!
Rick M
Off-site location to gain historical knowledge of the White House by viewing static and interactive displays. 5 minute walk from Metro Center. Good spot to get a reprieve from the elements for an hour or so.
Abdul Ali
Good place needs more items
Kelly Wood
Love My President, his Family, what he is doing for America and Americans. I only wish the liars and the blind would open their eyes and see past their hate to the Truths. God can Use any1. And often people with the most eccentric personalities did the most for our World. In Jesus Name Amen.
The Egg Roll was so much fun.
Mattie Richardson
Overall good review of the white house, check it out if you got a tour, check it out anyway if you didn't. Its free and contains several exhibits about the white house, a few objects, and a short film. Not overally impressive but still worth a stop while in the D.C area.
Nathan Powers
Beautiful spot, old on the exterior and interior, modern with design of the exhibits. Loved the interactive touchscreens allowing you to explore the interior of the white house and learn its history.
Wai Man
Pretty good alternative to visiting the white house. Be sure to take the selfie.
Brandon Hickey
Not a lot going on here, the main attraction is a short film narrated by previous residents of the White House (Presidents, First Ladies and some Presidential children)
If you're planning a condensed trip, best to skip this one.
Michael Mullahy
Really enjoyed this Centre. The film is wonderful. The exhibits are very well laid out and we learnt a lot about the building, its history and inhabitants. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Karn Dhandhania
Weirdly most products here are Made in China. This is okay for the unofficial gift stores surrounding the White House but was not expected here. Make sure you go through their collection of Christmas ornaments from the years past - they're all made in USA and quite affordable to buy as a little token to remember your visit.
Kim Summers
We had an amazing time touring the White House!
Adventure Krewe
Some very cool displays about the white House and the families that have loved there.
A couple of cancellation stamps for your mail parks passport (remember there is a separate red section just for DC stamps) There has to be well over 30 stamps.
Best advice is stay some place were you can take the metro into town. Our#adventureKrewe tip: do any business location on a week day. Ie. the Capitol tour, beaura of engraving and printing, pentagon, etc. Then do your museums natural history, American history, aviation and space, arts, etc.
Then do the monuments after 5pm. They are all open and lit up at night. We thought they were even better to see at night as there were less people. #adventureKrewe tip: bring a flashlight so you can see where your walking. Remember to bring your camera and take some great night shots. This could extend your day off museums or business offices if you have the stamina and find a few great places to snack.
Give us a thumbs up if you want to try any of our tops and let us know how your trip goes
Steve Knight
Had a great tour
Ethan Joiner
Very well run, and is a very pleasant experience. Don't miss out on it! It should be noted that you must have a ticket to enter, which means being at the ticket booth fairly early, about 7:30
Mary Zaky
It is amazing over there Donald Trump came outside and gave autographs and pictures and the white house is huge be sure to snap some pictures before you leave but don't even think about trying to step on the lawn the guards are watching with big fat guns and they are not afraid to shoot at you!
Juan Ruiz KermitTheRunner (Kermit)
Very informative and a lot of stuff to see and read. Learned of previous presidents. You can also see letters from many years ago displayed on some of the walls from previous kids requesting and informing the president at the time of money raised for March of dimes.
Christopher Martin
Fairly good substitute for not being able to get into The White House itself. There is a 12 minute video presentation about those who have lived there and other smaller presentations plus some artefacts from the building and a large scale model of the outside and of course an obligatory souvenir shop
Jann C
Big time security, so empty your purse, backpack etc. Nice, clean, cool visitor center, great stories and history to read about. Small gift shop also selling Christmas ornament, umbrellas, cups with White House theme.
Joseph Corbin
Very nice but the guards and security are ridiculous. Requiring men to remove their belts then not giving them anywhere except down in the museum to put them back on is stupid. To much security for a museum!!
M.E.
Great displays of presidential artifacts.
Gift shop loaded wirh a variety od items. Additionally, while there l inquired about other nearby sites and directions to reach them. Guides were pleasant and extremely helpful!
Ashraf Abdelghany, MD
It’s a great place to visit
Daniel Yosua
Great place to learn more about the White House and the Presidents' lives in the White House. There is a gift shop here where one can purchase the annual Christmas ornaments - historic and present.
Editor
This is nice place to visit because it gives the history of the White House. People can see how it was build and extended over the time. There is also a video where presidents speak about life in the White House. I recommend this place
Joe Kaufman
While I could not take a personal tour of the actual white house, this visitors center did a fantastic job of explaining the purpose, value, and detailed history of the white house. The visitors center explained historic events and had artifacts from previous presidents.
Isabel Santiago
Amazing day..Got to do this trip!
Rudder Hulce
Great place to visit before tour of the White House.
Tracy Tindle
Seems like a place they just threw up next to the White House. Most likely because it is so difficult to tour the actual White House. It's no problem to visit any other branch of government's historic building. This place is not very impressive compared to visiting other places of interest in DC.
Crystal Goldstein
I brought my 7, 9, and 11 year old to see our Nations Capital and was able to also visit the White House, the were so excited to see where our president lives. Even got a picture with a Secret Serviceman.
Jacqueline Henríquez
Very disappointed and saddened that the gift shop inside the White House is selling products made in China, such like the mini replica ornament of the White House I bought. There no signs hanging in the gift shop indicating that the products being sold in the shop are not made-in-the USA. The opened gift box and the ornament itself displayed at the gift shop did not show where it was made. So, I asked the sales lady about it and she said it was made-in-the USA. Just a walk outside the White House, China made souvenirs are being sold for $5.00. So the the $19.95 difference in price made me think no doubt it was made in the USA. However, after I got home, the unopened gift box ornament, has a sticker that the product was manufactured in China. As Americans we should demand that products being sold inside the White House gift shop be products made in the USA!
Robert Carinci
I was very surprised at how nice this visitors center was. The history of the White House is thorough, the center is clean, neat and very professional. I've walked by this center several times and never though to stop in, it is well worth it. I highly recommend stopping by.
Stanley Pilch
Next best thing to visiting the White House it's self. We loved the interactive touch screen display to give you a good idea of what the I Whitehouse look like inside and out over the years.
Cheryl Humphrey
Wait outside with no water was unreasonable. This line needs drinking fountains. The tour was great, especially for handicapped people who are treated to a special entrance for elevator access.
Sin Aguayo
Contrary to the deceptive name of the place, this is only a museum that focuses on the white house and its history. NO, YOU CANNOT SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO VISIT THE HOUSE HERE. They will tell you that you must submit a request with your congressman or woman that represents your state. With that being said this place is full of mock up models of the house and other artifacts. Free to enter with a tight security, expect this place to be full, again due to the name. However; it is interesting and enjoyable. I recommend it. Follow me and my adventures. Ig: @Sin_Aguayo fb: sin Aguayo
Ram R
Lots of cool history, at the back end off the Center you can watch a 15-minute movie about the history of the White House with various presidents and first lady narrating the story
Elliot Leventhal
The place is really interesting. We didn't have tickets for the White House tour so this was our other choice. The free movie was good and worth the time.
Randy Byler
About 90 minutes to tour. Amazing.
Casey Gray Walton
Security to enter, but has gift shop, rest rooms, over 90 artifacts from the White House and a 14 min film. Easily can spend 45 min here. Coaches can drop off on 15th by street vendors.
Ali B
Beautiful, well-designed, informative, and interesting displays on the history of the United States. Gift shop with tasteful gifts/souvenirs. Definitely worth stopping in to check it what is being presented.
Joe A
Great views
Mari Zona
Lots of cool souvineers of our visit to our nation's capital. We were visiting with our cousin from Scotland & she couldn't stop talking about how friendly everyone was here in the U.S. She got a MAGA get to take back to Glasgow to irritate the haters! LOL
Todd Jackson
Nice display of white House memorabilia. The video they have in continuous loop is worth watching and runs for 20 minutes with commentary from past presidents and first ladies.
Diaa Tahoun
Plan wisely for your parking or just park at your hotel room and then you
SHUBAILY REHMAN
Unforgettable seeing the Iconic residence of the President !
Mike Pritchard
Well done visitor's center for the people. Has many pieces that were actually in use at one time or another during the White House's existence. Was worth the stop before moving on to get a glimpse of the real thing.
Rodney Cabotage
I'm so glad we were able to visit. If you can't get in via the White House tour, try your congressman/woman. Be sure to give no less than 3 months lead time.
D&C Auto Body Shop
me and my son loved it
Christine Rossman
Really interesting with a lot of information and artifacts about the Whitehouse. We were told there would be a replica oval office by our tour guide, turned out there was not, just the exhibit.
Matthew Kress
As expected, some very interesting exhibits about the White House and its past residents. However, some of the displays were broken/not working and the security personnel were rather surly.
Maria Limarzi
Beautiful, recently renovated facility in the Commerce Department building at 15th and Pennsylvania Ave, NW has exhibits about the White House for those who haven't gotten tickets from their elected representatives for a tour of the House.
Chris McNair
Several security checks so bring your id. U need to book with your state senator at least 6 months ahead.....and be on time to ur appt. The white House tour is self guided and full of us history.
Diana Nichols
Wonderful day volunteering with the White House Holiday Open House. Beautiful decorations from our amazing First Lady whose exquisite taste decorated 56 Christmas trees!
Oliver Cheary
Great centre that give lots of interesting Info about the White House not a perticulary big centre but pack full of info. The is a video on the past if the White house, toilets and a gift shop
Anna Cain
Cute gift shop, a little pricey but didnt expect any less. Nice break from the hot weather. Quite a few of displays and some quick fun facts about the president's.
Bridgette Kelch
What a great center! The video was moving and the information and history shared was outstanding! I loved the interactive screens that showed the White House through the years.
Matthew King
Really excellent visitor center. One of the better ones in DC. Very well laid out. Very upscale and interesting. In fact, it was almost like a White House museum itself rather than a visitor center.
Kelly Miller
Definitely a highlight of our trip to D.C.! Be sure to contact one of your State Congressmen to obtain tickets several months in advance. You will not be disappointed!
Jonathan Levy
Good exhibits and the Park Service employee behind the desk was nice enough to share some White House / presidential stories (obviously, nothing inappropriate or that would compromise security).
Glenn Schwenk
Newly improved. Great alternative if you have not made arrangements with your congressman. Only place you can get national park service passport stamp.
Andrew Krowczyk
Wish we could have visited the White House!
Mary Garcia
It had a lot about the white house. Small gift shop there. One of the ladies came and talked to me about the Christmas ornaments and I ended up buying 2 that she had told me about.
Patrick Kelley
Was an okay attraction in retrospect but the actual white house would of been better. Look into it before going. Designed beautifully and holds a ton of different white house items.
Jill Mushaney
Wish I could have toured the white house, but the visitor center was great. Purchased the book Jackie Kennedy created and has been updated every year since.
Joel Gutierrez
Great place to visit, tough to get the tour passes but worth the effort, it be nicer it they had guides and Secret Service is not pushing you out, take a small camera or your phone, security to enter is tougher but nicer officers than at airports, request passes at least two months in advance
DOROTHY REVAI
Lots of info about the White House. It is Air conditioned, so great for those hot days. And restrooms if you don't mind going through security to get in.
markina Hall
Visited for their halloween event. Line was extremely long an wasnt really much of a event. Just a quick walk through of the grounds an if you were lucky, recieved one candy bar
Jennifer Fitzpatrick
Very interesting museum. There is a lot packed into this space. You will have to take your time. It's not something you can rush through. There is security at entrance.
Kathy Moore
I expected a better facility for receiving guests at The People's House. The tour itself was lovely, but shorter than anticipated. No bathrooms, so be warned.
Ray Hancock
Tell security to be more professional and stop standing around talking while people are walking thru was very annoying. Secret service at the entry was great very professional.. inside not so much...
Keith Suggs (Locoman4014)
The history of this building is awe inspiring!
Ron Monson
This is a very nice and free facility. Lots of info about the white house plus a gift shop. If you're in the neighborhood it's definitely worth stopping in.
Sabrina Brown
It was a beautiful museum and gift store. The museum provided history on the past presidents that I did see no where else in the area. Very unique indeed.
Laurencio Ronquillo
Excellent walking experience and clear and helpful directions
Bill Keegan
It's very difficult to get an actual White House tour, so this facility is a good alternative. Lots of photos and displays with good historical background information on the White House.
Kacie Nelson
This was all right. It's fun to go if you can't get to the White House. But there isn't a lot of super neat stuff to see here. It's free to get in, but not that exciting.
The Band
i heard on the news some althletes wore flip flop sandals to the whitehouse and it was a big deal on the news. i want to know how to visit the whitehouse with friends including myself i am my own friend. i have a friend to bring to where the peeple called the trumps moved into for free
Bruce Durham
Enjoyed going there, during our visit to DC. Gifts are available to purchase there. Also you can see a model of the White House. Reccomend you visit this place.
Robert Barton
This was an interesting place to visit. You only see the white house from a distance when you visit, so it was nice to see a bit more about the history and workings of the place.
John Houseman
GREAT place! We went immediately after our White House tour. Lots of history here, and lots of personal contributions from the Presidents and their families.
Robin Brown
Park Rangers were Friendly and professional

America's treasured history owned by the people for the people. The WH visitors association has gone to great lengths to preserve our history and make it interesting.
Gregory Stiller
I really enjoyed the Rangers at the visitors center. They were smiling and pleasant to talk to. They gave me more information than any place all day.
Elizabeth Risley
Surprised in a great way about the interesting information taught by this little 'museum'. Adults and children learned a lot and stayed much longer than planned because it was so informative in an interesting way.
Brian Kemper
A few interesting things. The short film with past residents sharing thoughts on the WH was probably the best thing there. Not many details on what goes on where within the WH. Had a few relics taken from within the house.
Echo Bubb
Wonderful little museum with lots of interesting artifacts! Enjoyed the Junior Rangers program, as it kept our child interested.
Zoé Ketola

Benji Tri
If, like us, you didn't get your reservations in early enough to go on the White House tour, stop into the Center across the street for the closest experience. Totally free.
Chelsea
Great place to start if you are visiting. Has a mini museum and gift shop inside as well. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Theodore Shiveley
Some nice gee whiz exhibits related to the white house. Gift shop too, but really just some nice exhibit space to drop by if you're in the area
Beth Green
A good alternative, if you're unable to get tickets to the White House tour. A little hard to find. Just outside of President's Park, 1450 PA Ave. look for blue awnings, white letters, White House Visitors Center.
W Gibbs
If you don't get the opportunity to do the White House Tour, this is your next best option. And even if you do the tour, this has a lot of great information as well.
Krystina Deren
Took the guided tour enjoying the building architecturally and historically. Next time want to take the House and Senate tours to see where history is made.
Joseph M Finck
A truly exceptional experience. The United States Park and Secret Service Uniform Division do an incredible job with a large number of visitors.
John Cothran
Security was pretty rude, but once through it is a nice exhibit. Friendly desk staff and very helpful with answering questions.
Ryan Yazel
I was expecting some more human interaction, but overall a good place to see some interesting stuff and browse a computer tour of the White House before heading over to see the outside yourself.
Chris Whitten
Was fun to visit and see everything. Lines were a little long so go earlier and they will let youin whenever on the day of your tour.

Our Girl Scouts enjoyed doing the Jr. Ranger Program. Fun activities while learning about the White House.

A highly protected area which is obvious. Though we have to enjoy the place from a distant place we are satisfied .Any electronic visual arrangement would have been better for visitors.
Emily H
My family loves the white house visitor center. A great place packed with fun information and a junior ranger spot to earn a pin.

Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Layout and design was well done.
Gift shop with quality made items.
