This was a very nice trip, it was windy so we couldn’t go out far for safety reasons. Our captain Jay made the trip very fun and relaxing, despite having to stay inland for weather reasons. Overall very nice scenery. Oh and Jay brought a guard lion (dog) she was very behaved and guarded the boat by sleeping 🙂. …

We had a great time!!! 100% recommend to anyone looking for something fun and a little different. We didn't get a whole lot of the Military info we thought we were going to but we really enjoyed the dolphins, going around on the water, the lighthouse, even getting wet with the cold water wasn't all that bad. So glad I found this and hope you enjoy yourself too!

Captain Jay was great! He definitely knew right where to take us to see the dolphins we had hoped to see, gave us interesting information on how dolphins live and reproduce, and gave us some fascinating military history lessons along with a fun ride for all. We even loved having his puppy Libby along. We felt safe on the boat as well, which is important to me as a mom, and my teenage sons had a blast! We will definitely book again next time we are at Virginia Beach.

Wow! Unbelievable experience… definitely not a typical tourist boat trip! Captain Jay was very informative, attentive and knowledgeable about the historic events that led to inception of the Navy Seals. He was conscientious about safety measures to make sure we all felt comfortable and safe on a riveting and rigorous nautical experience. One of a kind trip that instilled pride in our military forces and their joint efforts in world conflicts. The highlight of the trip was Jay’s ability to locate dolphins and give us an up close experience. Thank you for an unforgettable afternoon.

Capt. Jay is a great guide! I knew it was a good sign when the group that was returning had nothing but great things to say about their trip. I went on the military excursion experience and dolphin watching tour. Capt. Jay takes pride in what he does on the tours including a detailed and relevant playlist. The tour is not rushed at all. He even demonstrates some tactical moves, so you may get a little wet. Every moment was fun and educational with a gorgeous scenic background. I would certainly recommend his tours!

Captain Jay showed is a great time on our sunset cruise. We saw lots of dolphins which made me happy. Then he drove the boat like we were in Fast and Furious VA Beach, which made my boys happy. He pointed out interesting landmarks and definitely gave us our money's worth. Sunset was definitely the time to go as it was cooler and fun to watch the changing colors over the water. Boat launches from the marina next to Chick's Oyster Bar. Marina parking is separate from Chick's.

Had a fantastic trip with Captain Jay. Saw lots of whales and learned a lot of interesting stuff about the area. It was also very nice to have our own boat to ourselves. If you are in Virginia Beach and want to spend a fun day on the water I highly recommend Patriotic Excursions.

Captain Jay made it an amazing birthday trip for our grandson. We had hoped to see whales, but he made sure we knew that the chances were slim at the time we took the tour. He did locate multiple dolphins for us and got us so close we thought the grandson was going to join the pod. We came away soaked, but with a happy, happy boy!

This is not your cookie cutter tourist trap. Great time, personalized experience. Yes,a bit pricier than others but an experience you will never forget. Not a dry spot on me. Make sure you tighten your hat because if the speed doesn't get them, the splashes will. We were the only ones on the boat other than the crew of two. My one year old enjoyed herself so much! Military helicopters were running drills overhead while the dolphins rode the waves. Waterproof your phone and wallet. Enjoy the ride... You've made the right decision!!!🌊🛥️

Capt Donny was our dolphin tour guide and was very outgoing with a good sense of humor. We were really impressed with the variety of cool experiences he packed into two hours. The boat ride on the RIB was pretty cool by itself but on top of that we saw many dolphins, a nuclear sub heading out to sea and a tour of the nearby inlet with homes that we could never afford :) Be aware that this is a wet and bumpy ride so if you are more into calm seas and caviar, you might want go for a pontoon tour. If you want excitement and variety though, these guys do a great job of achieving that in under two hours!!

Excellant experience...the boats are decommissioned navy seal boats. That alone was very good. The trip itself was absolutely gorgeous, we were very fortunate to see lots of dolphins. Captain Jay Leach took us out, he was a great guide as well as captain of the boat. Really enjoyable experience...the kids couldn't of enjoyed it more.

Best dolphin tour I've ever taken. We saw so many of them all around us. Our captain was knowledgeable about dolphins and the military history in the area. This is a great activity if you want to get out and still maintain social distance. Such a great time!!

OMG this was an amazing time. I booked a sunset cruise for my family. You will not be disappointed in this wonderful experience. Captain was super knowledgeable in telling us the history and different areas we were encountering. The captain is also in the Coast Guard and we didn’t get a chance to thank him for his service, but you cannot get more experience and security than that. Did we see dolphins 🐬 oh my! We saw so many dolphins and calfs. Sunset was beautiful and we took some fabulous pictures. Down to do this experience again and would highly recommend it.

Definitely an experience you need to have in a lifetime! Captain Jay and Gwen were beyond amazing! He is a pro out on the water! Seen seals and a whale being so close to the water made the experience unreal! We have done whale watching in regular boats but nothing ever like this. Oh and his music playlist is topnotch! Such an amazing experience my family will never forget! Would recommend a million times! We will definitely be back!

If you are not including this tour on your trip to Virginia Beach then you are not making the most of your time there. My husband and I decided to stop in Va Beach to visit the Aquarium and thought we should spend more than an hour or two before heading up to Williamsburg which was the majorityof our trip. We could not have been happier with our decision to do so. I happened upon Patriotic Excursions while doing some general searching online. Between the other reviews and overall description, combined with the fact that we were headed down during the week of the 4th we knew we had to check it out. The address listed took us to the marina and directly to a parking area which was free to visitors. We walked right over to find the owner as well as our captain. Typically the boats have availability for 6 people but we happened to pick a time where we were the only occupants along with the captain. After a little bit of getting to know you know you, we were on our way. The amount of knowledge of our captain was immense. He was able to share so many points of history as well as we were so lucky to see maneuvers on the water and on land of our current military. The tour also includes dolphin sightings, now I have been on tours like this before where they advertise Marine life sightings and you may see a fin or nothing at all. We were so lucky to see dolphins within less than 200 feet feeding and playing. Our captian could spot them very quickly and would slowdown to point them out and explain their behavior. This was honestly one of the best boating tours that I have been on as an adult. You will not regret booking with this company and honestly what is better than Veteran owned?? You do not have to have an understanding of the military to enjoy the tour, though as a spouse, sister and daughter of current and former military members it made it all the more special. This is a must see adventure on the water and yes you will get a bit wet but it is the coolest way to spend a few hours of exploration. Book today and claim your spot on an excursion of a lifetime!

I got dragged on this dolphin tour by my best friend - I do not do well on boats. Captain Jay is a GD saint for putting up with the complete and paralyzing fear that was pulsing through my veins. Do yourself a favor and book this tour, and wear a swimsuit because you’ll get more than just dolphins. Highly recommend.

This isn't a normal "sight seeing" excursion.... it is a really nice excursion and exciting. The dolphin excursion has a maximum occupancy of 6 guests. Highly recommended!!!!

Phenomenal experience! From the RIB to the captain to the actual tour, it was all amazing. If you want a chance to learn about our military, see military vessels, and be surrounded by dolphins every which way you turn, then this is the place for you. Patriotic Excursions honestly exceeded our expectations and was without a doubt the greatest part of our family trip. Highly recommend Patriotic Excursions to locals and tourists. We live in the Virginia Beach area and found this tour to amazing! The boat is a retired navy seal boat!! Captain Wendell gave us detailed history of the area, including Cape Henry Lighthouse, military history and navy seal training sites. Lots of sea life, including Dolphin!! The ride is not only interesting for adults but kids will love it too!! The sunset was beautiful and a nice end to the ride. Captain Wendell took great care to make sure we were safe, enjoyed the ride and offered to take pictures for us. Thank you for an experience we will never forget!!

This by far was a great day on the water! The experience and knowledge of Capt Jay and 1st Mate Wendell is unsurpassed. It's a lesson in history about the great military presence in the Virginia Beach area. Capt Jay is very personable and answered all of our questions about the light houses on Ft.Story and the military bases in the area. The military "RIB" boat was a great ride. We will absolutely do this again with friends and family.

Dress warm it was freezing...and i mean freezing in mid march, but even as icicles we had the most amazing time doing this. We went to see whales and didn't see them but in fairness we are late late in the season still got to see a sea lion and dolphins but even without seeing awesome animals... being out on the ocean in a tiny fast boat was amazing. I don't give reviews so the fact that i am here writing this is crazy but that's how amazing this was. Do it u won't regret it.

Patriotic Excursions is a fantastic and unique experience for anyone looking for a tour experience of the VA Beach area that is outside the box. Captain Jay led my fiance and myself on an extremely thrilling and knowledgeable tour of the VA Beach coast line that included naval special operators launching boats for an exercise of the coast, and a history of Dam Neck and Little Creek naval bases. We experienced this all at high speeds in a former navy boat that absolutely cuts across the water. We even got up close and personal wild dolphins while out at sea! If you're looking for a tour experience that is more personal and entertaining then cramming onto an oversized boat, want fly at high speeds across the water on a navy vessel, or looking for more of the history and workings of the special operations community in the VA Beach area then Patriotic Excursions is perfect! Look no further.

Cpt. Jay was great! Ride was awesome and informative. Got to see and learn about VA Beach’s rich military history. Myself and my girlfriend were surprised how smooth the ride was on the Navy RIB Boat, so couples don’t be hesitant to book this. Cpt. Jay will make the ride as smooth or wild as you want so just don’t be afraid to communicate. Saw dolphins and even a whale while on our cruise! All in all it was a great experience and will probably do it again!
