This building is very nice and spacious. and they have plenty of guides,pamphlets, and brochures. I was greeted by a very pleasant lady and she answered all my questions and provided information according to my tourism desires. They also have a map of area that makes it very helpful. There is indoor and outdoor seating and it’s on the pier. There is a city parking lot near and it’s $15 a day. I was informed that this was the best place to park. The bathrooms are very clean. I highly recommend going to visitor center once you enter city to gather information to make the best of your visit!

Nice area to walk. Ship was docked here, and we shopped in many of the stores. Best lobster roll was here at Gilbert's.

This is a Visitor Center (and a great one at that) even if the building says “Ocean Gateway”. Start your visit with the website listed here, then come here to discuss your options with the staff and get all the brochures and maps you need. Lots of information beyond Portland too, if you are interested. This visitor center is wonderful with lots of space to browse your options and relax in comfortable chairs, complete with a view of the water.

First time to this foodie and drink legend. People everywhere high energy and fun. Whole town feels like you walked into a welcoming Cheers bar. East to walk around, scenic harbour great restaurants, many micro breweries and of course know for lobster and oysters. Have some wine and oysters at J's Oysters on the canal, and for unique experience and beauty try the lobster rolls at the food trucks in parking lot of spectacular looking lighthouse. A must see when you nearby. Also experience roof top bar at Westin hotel.

Portland is such a beautiful place. I have only explored near the port so far, but it is amazing. Last year we visited Gilbert's for some Lobster Stew and it was fabulous would highly recommend. Today we ventured on a small train that takes you up the coastline. It was a lot of fun and we got to meet some great people along the way.

Beautiful place!! For an awesome history lesson on Portland take a trolley tour. Fun places to shop and incredible restaurants abound! Highly recommend taking the schooner tour for a relaxing water excursion.

Man behind the counter did an excellent job telling us where to go. Hate that we didn't have our passports to go to Nova Scotia ferry ride. Although riding the ferry was an experience, we didn't see the lighthouse at Peaks Island and the island was small enough that riding over and walking it minus the car would have sufficed.

Visited the area from a cruise and I really appreciated the fall colours, one of my main reasons for the tour, bought a few souvenirs and soaked up the local knowledge.

We have an RV and we parked at the eastern promenade for the day. We payed 10$ for a day pass. We played on the beach and then went biking in the Old Port. Awesome day.
