Went out here with my wife for our 1 year wedding anniversary. Was actually a gift from her bridesmaids. It was so amazing! Such a wonderful experience. They transported us, took us up for an hour then fed us and had champagne for us. The whole experience was so cool! The pilot was so friendly and funny and the crew was nice and willing to take photos. Don't sleep on this, if you want a good experience as a tourist or local I'd highly recommend this company and hot air ballooning in general. Can't wait to go again.

We had the best experience on our shared balloon ride! It was such an awesome time and everyone had fun. They made it fun, safe and enjoyable. It was all very well organized! Just show up and they do everything else. Brunch and champagne toast was a nice little addition included in the flight! Our pilot Bill was great! He was experienced and a lot of fun! The balloon ride was breathtaking. We would definitely use them and go again. Well worth the money!

Had such a fabulous (early!) morning with Don (pilot) and Mike (driver). They made the experience super seamless and easy, they are pros. Beautiful scenery and so calm—not scary at all! The post-flight champagne breakfast was awesome and we were back to our car by 8:45. I’d definitely recommend!

Fantastic crew! Great experience! My first flight. Maybe they should explain the whole “process” on their website, starting at meeting place. The end “get together” was very nice! Maybe include the champagne flutes in the purchase price, not additional $15 each. Views below were not appealing (peoples junk yards), but the horizons were beautiful!

This was the BEST experience ever! Jonathan was engaging and knowledgeable. The balloon was roomy and comfortable, the view indescribably beautiful, and the mimosa breakfast was the icing on the cake. The staff is more than happy to take as many pictures as you request , and Jonathan even rotated the balloon to accommodate specific views. Giving this company five stars seems insulting . They deserve 100 stars!

The guys at Hot Air Expeditions were very informative, and friendly. They made sure we all made it to the location where we had departure Our pilot was very informative and explained what to expect and how we were going to land. And during the flight he answered all our questions and made it fun. The food after landing was excellent too not to mention the champagne was well appreciated. We were able to take many photos. This is the most amazing experience! My boyfriend asked them to put out this tarp so I would see it from the sky, and he proposed. They did so amazing, I didn’t see them rolling it out! It was so romantic! So beautiful! Also, the brunch was delicious! I didn’t expect it to be good but it was beyond my expectations, everything was! The staff is all so nice, and helpful! The pilot was amazing. I’ve been telling everyone about it, and can’t wait to come back for our anniversary.

Incredible bucket list experience! I had never been on a hot air balloon ride before, and I could not have asked for a better first experience. We surprised my sister with a hot air balloon ride for her 30th birthday, and Hot Air Expeditions delivered! Our shuttle driver (to the site of take off) was Mike, and he was fantastic. He was very friendly and personable, and answered all of the random questions we had about ballooning. Our pilot was Kasey, and he was equally awesome! He ensured that everyone knew what to expect, pointed out a bunch of wild burros in the desert below us, and took us up to 3,000'+ for amazing views of Lake Pleasant. The balloon baskets were surprisingly comfortable and allowed for plenty of standing room. We had 13 people on our flight, and each group had their own "quarter" of the basket (one group per corner). After the experience, we enjoyed champagne, brunch, and received cute certificates. Since it was my sister's birthday, the crew made her feel special with a "happy birthday" banner, cake, and gifted her the champagne cork! Highly recommend Hot Air Expeditions if you want to check ballooning off your bucket list!

Stunning. Hubs and I went on a private balloon ride with champagne brunch which included souvenir glasses and pick up/drop off from our hotel option. Views were amazing, staff was kind and attentive. We rode with Captain Matt who was wonderfully entertaining and Derick who was his back up on the ground. So glad we did this! Highly recommend.

This experience absolutely exceeded expectations. The organization of the crew was great. The location of the launch and the flight was exactly what I wanted for a desert experience. The balloon floated so gracefully it wasn’t scary at all. Definitely recommend this for someone with motion sickness or fear of heights. Our pilot John was very experienced and a wonderful storyteller. The breakfast after was icing on the cake. Loved how much hospitality is put into this. I’ve never seen such stunning views and felt so at peace. Will come back to AZ to do this again.

Had an AMAZING sunrise flight. The views were beautiful and our captain, Jonathan was awesome! Compared to the balloons around us, I feel like we had the best flight because we were one of the first ones off the ground and we got up pretty high (I think he said we were 1 mile above ground at one point). The landing was smooth and we had a great breakfast! So happy to have checked this off my bucket list!

Stunning experience! Don't miss this! The staff is very experienced and friendly. They know what they're doing every step of the way. Shout out to Joy, our driver who picked us up from the hotel. Very friendly and made me feel comfortable right from the beginning. Bill, our pilot, is a great guide, sharing with us the wonders if the areas that we saw from the air balloon. He told us all about local legends, the history, ecology and so much more! He has a great sense of humour and made us all feel safe as we floated above the desert. We landed in a beautiful desert spot, had a celebration breakfast and champagne toast. Thanks, friends, for an unforgettable experience where we were blessed to "fly so well and so high"!

Absolutely amazing experience! Definitely a "bucket list" item everyone should add to their list. Lots of first timers in our group, but from the moment you're greeted at the parking lot by Rosie you know you're in good hands. She made the check-in process a smooth one and got us to our destination safely and quickly. James and his crew did a phenomenal job at getting the ballon ready and ensuring we had a smooth and safe take-off and landing. However, I must say the star of the whole experience was our captain. Honestly do yourself a favor and request Capt Jonathan Wright, and if they say he isn't available then change your date! 😂 Not only is he is an extremely knowledgeable and skilled captain, but has a great sense of humor (but even radder nails 😉). He did an outstanding job from take-off until landing. Expertly navigating us through the skies to gives us amazing views, but also great laughs and interesting facts about the history of hot air balloons. I am so happy that my resort (Cibola Spa and Resort) gave me a deal that led me to change my reservation from the competition over to Hotair Expeditions. I truly belive our experience would've not been the same and as special if not for Captain Jonathan. Hats off to the whole crew who took care of us! Bucket list item checked off on our 22nd anniversary none the less. :-) Thank you for the experience and we will be seeing you again in the future when we return with family and friends!

Best part of my trip! My group had the best pilot!! He took us higher than any other ballon and we stayed up longer. The ride was smooth and enjoyable, the views were amazing, and landing went better than I expected! They were the only company that serves a warm breakfast as well.

The entire day ran smoothly. The experience was better than I expected. Watching the balloons fill up and take off before ours was really nice. It was a great ride, I thought I’d get a little nervous but I didn’t at all. Our pilot, Dan, was great. The little brunch was a nice ending. Overall, a fantastic experience.

Captain Don was fantastic- he was incredibly passionate about flying and answered all our questions. We went as a large work group of 30 people and they were able to accommodate us. Each balloon could take 12 people and after the flight we had a simple brunch at the landing site while the crew packed up the balloon. It was a great first flight and we were up in the air for about 30 minutes.

I booked this for the sunrise flight for my last day in Arizona. I’ve never been on a hot air balloon before so I was excited. Costumer service over the phone was amazing! I asked lots of questions and the lady was awesome. The van picked me up from my hotel along with other guests. It was 12 of us in total. Mike was very accommodating asking us if the van temperature was okay, if we needed a bathroom break, type of music we wanted to listen to in the van and even dropped some fun facts along the way about Arizona. Once we got there, we watched them set up the balloon which was amazing to watch. That took about 20 minutes to do. We climbed into the basket and off we we were with our pilot Mike #2. He was an older man and super adorable with some jokes. We floated for at least an hour or more. The views were beautiful. The total flight was about $186 which included hotel pickup and drop off. They also set up breakfast with champagne! The food was from a local bakery. At the end, they gave a certificate with your name on it, for completing the flight. I totally recommend this company for your flight. I really enjoyed myself.

I set up a surprise ride for my husband for our anniversary and from the first contact through the end of the ride they were professional, fun, ans very experienced! Friendly crew, great service, informative polite with great flying techniques. It’s really convenient for a tourist to have a package of hotel pick up and drop off service! And I’ve carelessly left my coat on the shuttle van, the driver even turn around and deliver it to me. It’s a memorable experience and definitely will recommend a friend for the ride👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Loved my experience here! Everyone was super nice and welcoming. Our pilot was great and extremely knowledgeable and told us stories of hot air ballooning and the surrounding land. We had a bumpy landing but he still landed us safely and calmly. The breakfast after the ride was fantastic! Really good food from a nearby restaurant. I’d recommend them to everyone and would go to them again next time I’m in Arizona :)

Mike our driver was excellent! We had booked for a Friday morning excursion but it was canceled due to wind conditions. Mike was so apologetic and compassionate to the situation. We re scheduled for Saturday morning and when we were picked up Mike was awesome had water for us and would point out land marks and other cool stuff during our trip to the launch site. Once on the site Bill the captain and Joy the crew lead were amazing. Bill made the flight so enjoyable with stories and made feel as ease with his constant communication. Joy was helpful during the loading process and brunch making sure we had anything we could want or need. I will recommend this team to everyone.

First things first, Hot Air Expeditions is a safe and top notch organization. Jonathan is both a very experienced pilot as well as very entertaining. Our driver, Joy, was awesome too. Now on to the interesting and bizarre anomalies. My wife and I flew with HAE 1.5 years ago and captured similar anomalies in our pictures. This morning, while riding with my son, I captured similar anomalies, once again. Orbs??? NOTE: The anomalies are NOT lense flares. Notice that the green object is moving around while the camera takes multiple pictures in the same direction. Very interesting phenomenon.

My family and I really loved this amazing experience. I grew up in Arizona, but seeing it from the air like this was really different for me. Everything about the experience was handled perfectly by Hot Air Expeditions. Everyone was very helpful and kind, giving us clear guidance about what to expect and how to stay safe. The pilot, Bill, was very friendly and entertaining, and kept us laughing throughout the trip. He was clearly very passionate about what he did and shared a lot of his experience and knowledge with us along the way. We all felt extremely safe the entire time--who knew that being up 2000 feet above the ground could feel safe? Two other people on the same ride with us said they had a fear of heights but were very comfortable throughout the trip. The view was spectacular, the journey was entertaining and fun, and after landing, we enjoyed a nice breakfast and champagne in the desert followed by some birthday cake to celebrate 2 birthdays. I highly recommend Hot Air Expeditions if you're considering it, we had a wonderful and very memorable time!

Amazing to watch the way they prepare the balloon....and how much preparation goes into the one hour balloon ride which was very exciting....The landing was smooth and the breakfast was light but delightful - A must do if you are in Phoenix area...Our pilot had 35+ years of experience - which put our anxiety at bay... Highly recommend at least once in a lifetime....Getting in and out of the bucket was the toughest part of the whole experience for us 70 + group - but they help as needed - so it was not a big issue for us - but may be an issue for some - not recommended for pregnant women.

The other companies did not offer this, landed before is and a lower flight. If you’re debating on companies, this one is far superior to others.

It was an awesome experience. Breathtaking views of the sunrise and the hills of North Phoenix. We got as high as 5000 feet and as low as 500 feet during the flight. We had a great pilot (Jonathon) who had great, funny stories, which I am convinced, helped keep us from being nervous! His landing was perfect. The crew was was friendly and efficient. The passengers were delightful and the mimosas after the flight hit the spot!

The wind dictated the launch site and when we got there we got to see the balloons inflate, then we learned how to brace for the landing. This is an amazing way to see the city and see some astonishing views from the air. Plus you get to have a catered breakfast and some champagne after the ride which makes it a great way to celebrate doing an amazing experience. I highly recommend people try this out at least once in their life.

Enjoyed my hot air balloon excursion with Hot Air Expeditions. Chase Driver Jim picked me up at my hotel on time. He is Professional, knowledgeable and witty. Jim also shared his knowledge of the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Pilot Tommy was great and gave us a smooth hot air balloon ride. Landing was safe and smooth as the winds were calm. Upon landing, we had a sit down breakfast and some champagne. We were also given commemorative flight certificates. I highly recommend Hot Air Expeditions if you’re looking to float the skies!

All I can say is wow! This is something that has been on my bucket-list forever and captain Mike and Marcus made the experience unforgettable. We booked a private basket, being a little wary of sharing a basket during because of COVID. We were shuttled in our own private van to the hot air balloon site and did not have to wait long for our balloon to be inflated. Marcus and Mike were very friendly and welcoming; they explained all the procedures and precautions. Before we knew it we were up in the air taking in all of the breath taking views. When we landed we were treated to a lovely breakfast and mimosas. I cannot recommend this company enough. Everyone was very professional and they made our experience unforgettable!

I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but decided to give them a shot anyway. So glad we did. Joseph was our shuttle driver and Jonathan the capitan of the hot air balloon. It was a great experience from start to finish. We had originally booked for earlier in our trip and received a text the afternoon before informing us it was cancelled due to weather. It was easy to reschedule via text for later in our trip. Day of every crew member we encountered was super friendly and helpful. Joseph was quick to get us out to the launching site where Jonathan was already getting the balloon set up with the other crew member. We were up in the air in under 10 minutes and we were the first ones up in the air. Views were stunning and serene. And enjoyed the hour in the air. We had a great landing, and Jonathan and his team set up breakfast quickly and also made it an enjoyable and relaxing experience. Highly recommend. Request Jonathan as your capitan if at all possible!

We reserved for 8 to do AM trip to celebrate daughter's birthday. The crew was fabulous and we felt very safe with Captain Graham and Crew Chief Scott leading the team. From start to finish all was great. We left on time, had bathroom breaks planned out, and were told what to expect along the way. The view was magnificent, and the landing could not have been smoother. After the ride, we had a delicious breakfast, and they even had a birthday banner and cake to celebrate daughter's birthday.

A totally AWESOME experience! The ground crew was super and our captain was fun, knowledgeable, and engaging. The ride through the spring skies was smooth as silk, reminded me of sailing on a catamaran with the wind and the beautiful and colorful spinnaker filled with wind over my head. You are moving at the same speed as the wind so there is little sense of movement. I highly recommend it!

We are so happy that we didn't chicken out on this experience. We chose the sunrise ride and the views were breathtaking! To see my full experience, please visit my youtube channel: Morgancita. The entire tour was from 5:15am to 9:15am. We met at the Deer Valley Airport and then took a van over to the take off site which was about 20 minutes away. We got to watch them inflate the balloon. The staff and pilot were amazing. We had a great time but most importantly, we felt safe. We then ate breakfast with mimosas. I want to take a hot air balloon all over the world now!

While there weee some issues getting started with their finding the right spot to take off from, this was still a breathtaking experience! I suggest be on time as they don’t exactly determine the departure spot until that very morning based on the weather, winds, etc

Fantastic family hot air balloon experience with a champaign and sparkling cider and hors d'oeuvres ending! This is a trip of a life time. And we will do it again when we come back to Phoenix. We were shuttled from the airport to the take off field in a very clean and comfortable van. Todd was our shuttle driver and explained to us what we would experience. He assure those of us that were a bit scared that it would be a blast. And it was. My daughter got to help hold the shoot open while they filled it with hot air and when blown up my son and daughter were asked to get into the balloon while the balloon rose in the air. They had a real hands on experience. Thank you. The view was spectacular and we moved at 5 miles per hour. Tommy was our Captain and he was lots of fun. He gave us and education and lots of laughter. If you ever have thought about going on a hot air ride this one will surly be the best. Just Do It!

Sunrise hot air balloon ride was a 10/10 experience! We planned this activity for my friend’s Bachelorette weekend. As someone who is mildly afraid of heights, I was a little nervous going into this. It was the SMOOTHEST ride and SO relaxing! You don’t even realize how high up you are. The desert beauty is breathtaking. I was actually sad when the ride was over. We finished with a yummy breakfast, a toast and certificate for completing the ride. Our pilot, Bill, was AMAZING! So hilarious and made us feel safe. I can’t stop talking about this. I’m so glad I faced my fears. This is a moment I will never forget. Getting up at 4am was worth it. Thank you Hot Air Expeditions! 🎈

Unbelievable experience. The teams made sure we had the best experience possible. Our pilot Bill made it unbelievable experience. Took us on a great ride, very professional and very knowledgeable. Overall I would say that the experience was good, but not great. Check-in was a fairly quick process. Ronnie/Ronny was our bus driver and did an excellent job overall with driving, offloading and onloading the balloon, and providing friendly customer service. He even offered to take our picture when we were on the hot air balloon. I would say that the communication between the flight crew needs improvement. Ronnie/Ronny almost got run over by the balloon cart because Jonathan tilted the ramp at a high pitch, causing the cart to fly towards Ronnie/Ronny. My wife tried stepping in to ensure Ronnie didn't get injured with the cart. Mike, the pilot, was very grumpy with his flight crew. Also, Mike had two customers assist with holding the balloon by the opening so that the balloon could inflate. While I'm sure the customers were probably okay with assisting, I don't think that customers should have to do the flight crews job. In addition, the fans inflating the balloon were extremely loud, yet the two customers were not provided any hearing protection. Mike was grumpy and didn't really make the experience enjoyable in the beginning, but he did seem to lighten up more towards the end of the trip. The meal provided was pretty decent. If you have to use the restroom, expect to hear people's grumpiness about taking up their time or be prepared to pee in the bushes. I think a portopotty should be available for use, as a good chunk of our time was spent waiting for the balloon to be prepared and stowed away. Landing was very rough and may cause injury, so be prepared.

I often travel down to Phoenix early in the mornings and have admired the magnificence of the colorful hot air balloons that seem to effortlessly float in the sky. I thought, “one day I am going to float gracefully in the sky and see the desert from above.” Today was that day. From the moment I began making reservations for myself and some friends the customer service was on point. In a world where customer service is nearly obsolete, I was pleasantly shocked that my concerns and questions were answered immediately. This in itself gave me the confidence that I’d chosen the right company. We not only had a wonderful experience but our captain, ‘Captain Bill’ gave us a wonderful education on balloons and aeronautics. He made us laugh with his carefree humor. He pointed out landmarks and made the flight fascinating. Upon landing we were met by the team and a wonderful brunch was set up for us. The food was light and tasty. Brunch in the desert, what more could one want. The entire team and Bree from customer service were the epitome of what customer service should always be. They are the epitome of grace in the sky.

This was our second flight with Hot Air Expeditions. Our first flight I rate at 5++. On our first flight, which was last year, we had a brief time at 5000 feet elevation otherwise we were down at low altitude, 200-300 feet, going up and down over the mountains. Low enough to look for animals. It was the best ever. This year, however, we were just over open space and our pilot took us up to 5000-6000 feet and stayed there until we came down to land. I could see other balloons down low doing what we did last year. I asked him if we were going fly low and he said when we come in to land. I was quite disappointed. We brought friends with us this year and I had built them up for the same experience we had last year. The pilot was not from this area, he was temporarily from FL, which may have been why the high altitude flight. He was a great guy, talkative and funny, but I was more interested in the flight experience. If you want a low level flight besure to ask for a pilot that will give you the kind of flight you want.

Well...the first booking was cancelled due to weather. However, getting up at 5 in the morning, ready to leave, and find out it was cancelled was a bummer. I was led to believe that was the only available time in the time we were in Arizona for vacation. I later was asked if I wanted to reschedule. I was a bit confused thinking I missed my opportunity. I was booked for the next day at an afternoon slot (which I would have chosen in the first place.). Obviously, there is some reservation confusion. We were instructed to be at the Deer Valley Airport at 3:30. We got in the van and were taken to another site where we disembarked to get into another van. We came back to the airport and then went to the site where we would get into the balloon. No explanation was given. Everyone looked a bit confused. Finally left up into the air. Shorter than 45 minutes--perhaps the weather. It seemed unorganized, not very good communication to the passengers, and I still was glad I took the flight. I do think they should have credited me the difference in the cost (morning versus afternoon.)

Hot air expeditions was the BEST company ever! Don’t even try and look for other places just book through them. I did so much research in who we should use for this ride and I am glad I picked them. I called them about 5 times before the actual ride just asking the same questions over and over and the representatives were nothing but nice! It was a quick process on the morning of. We had a great driver named Jonathan ( ask for him if you can) he was extremely friendly, interacted with all of the passengers and just made it an overall amazing experience. Not to mention the breakfast after the ride was so adorable. It was truly an awesome ride I am glad I was able to check this off my bucket list.

This was the most amazing experience I've had in a long time. I'm on vacation from Nashville and I've always wanted to ride in a hot air balloon. The company picked me up at my hotel and took me to the air field to get the rest of my fellow riders. Todd was a wealth of information about the area we were going to be lifting off from. Jonathan was our pilot and he was great! He really knows his stuff! The flight was perfect. I didn't know what to expect and I was a little nervous, but that went away quickly. The sky was beautiful, the weather was very nice and I had a great group of people on the flight with me. The landing was super smooth and after all of that, we had these great "heavy" snacks, which I loved...The duck pizza was great! We had a champagne toast and sat in the desert to experience the gorgeous sunset! This is a must do. I can't wait to come back to Phoenix and bring family!!! My fiancé and I took a morning balloon ride this week with Hot Air Expeditions and we can’t say more good things about our experience. We were met bright and early with smiling friendly faces who got us signed up and ready to go. The staff was helpful in answering questions and explaining the details of the morning. We were shuttled to the take off location and enjoyed watching the process Of getting the balloon ready for takeoff. Our captain was Glo and she was great! She kept us informed of elevation and speed when we asked and also allowed us to take in the view and enjoy the peace in the air. After our safe landing the staff prepped a catered brunch with delicious food and champagne! Five star service all around! We would recommend this to our family and friends and would absolutely take another ride in the future.

We took a sunset expedition the day before Christmas. The entire experience was top notch from start to finish. We had Gary as our pilot. He is very knowledgeable about all things ballooning and Arizona. We felt safe and secure from the start. Jerry was our ground crew. He worked his tail off to get us up in the air, help us safely land, and stow all the parachute equipment. It was great to have both of them masked up when they were with us. Gary wore his the entire time he was with us including when we were in the balloon. Would highly recommend!

Our experience was outstanding from the time they retrieved us at the hotel to the time they dropped us back off. Our pilot, Glo, was a 40 year veteran who has traveled the country with the Energizer Bunny balloon as well as Kenny Chesney’s Blue Chair Bay Rum balloon. Let me start by saying I am terrified of heights. But a hot air balloon ride has been on my bucket list and I could not leave Phoenix without doing one so I scheduled the sunset ride. Chris picked me up right on time and when I told him about my fear of heights his response alone made me feel much better. It was about a 20 minute ride from the hotel and a short wait while the hot air balloon was set up. Before I knew it we were ready for takeoff. What an experience! The ride was so smooth from the moment we took off up until moment we landed. Our pilot Jonathan was funny and did such a great job. Even the champagne ceremony at the end was fun. This is a must do on your bucket list. Todd picked me up at my hotel in downtown Phoenix and gave me kind of a sight seeing tour and area information on the way to the airport to pick up the rest of our riders. The scenery in Peoria AZ is amazing! We watched the entire process of the basket being delivered and the balloon being filled and we launched with probably 10 other balloons! The views were awesome. Weather was perfect! Jonathan was our pilot...he was great, has a funny out going Personality and put a few uneasy riders at ease very quickly! He knew alot about the area we were in and told us of his adventures of flying balloons...I believe for 15 years. The flight went by fast! The landing was smooth and at the very end we had a wonderfully catered mini dinner and dessert with champagne! Even got a flight certificate of our adventure. This was worth every penny! We did the sunrise ride. You meet near the airport and they transport you to where take off will be. They stopped at a gas station on the way to let everyone use the restroom if needed. Preparation for take off took about 20 minutes where you can watch and take pictures. The ride itself was about a hour. Our captain Tommy, who stated he had about 17 years experience, explained things like where downtown was, what lake we were looking at was, and etc during the ride. Good information to know: the flames are hot on your head. I would recommend wearing a baseball hat. But they do provide them as well. The breakfast afterward was pretty good. They do a toast and you get a certificate for your ride. The only thing, is I wish they allotted time before take off or after landing for everyone to get pictures in front of the balloon while it was inflated. Take off and landing seemed a little rushed; to get us all on and in the air and to get us all off and out of the way after landing. The only pictures we got were of it deflated and laying down. Overall, highly recommend. Everyone was very professional and made the experience fun and enjoyable.

This was a must do experience. From the ride pick up at our hotel to landing of the balloon. The filling of the balloon was a fun experience, first 2 inches off the ground, then the 5,ooo plus feet view with the sun coming up. Let's start with this... WOW... what an amazing experience. Jim... Jimbo... Crew Chief Jimmarino... What a guy, I must say. Jim was clearly experienced, knew when to light a fire under the people who were going to make us late to see the sunrise, yet somehow managed to do it in a respectful way. It was amazing to see him politely speed people along while also maintaining rapport with the people in our van, and honestly, thank goodness so I didn't have to Karen it up. Now let's talk about Don. Good ole Captain Don was knowledgeable and energetic, with a sprinkle of old school. Cap'n D has been flying for longer than I have been alive, and it shows in his work. Let me just say this... if I had to Naked and Afraid tag team a survival challenge, I'd take Don with me. Pretty sure he could sniper a rabbit from the hot air balloon using nothing but a bobby pin, then gently glide the balloon to the perfect landing spot to pick up the rabbit, and roast it in the balloon. I requested the gluten free breakfast because my gastrointestinal track tries to wreck me on the daily. Best gluten free muffin I have ever had. And the champagne toast? The perfect ending to a balloon ride. Anyone who does not appreciate a 7am champagne toast should maybe try to plan their trip with other tame people, because that bubbly was HITTIN'. Things to know: I recommend bringing a light jacket regardless of the temperature outside. The take off requires lots of flames being shot into the balloon, and that gets HOT. My massage therapist says I have sensitive skin, and by golly I felt it during take off. Wearing a light jacket would keep the heat from directly hitting your skin. I wouldn't recommend flying if you're afraid of heights. This seems obvious, but having witnessed peoples sit in the bottom of the basket for an hour, I can tell you it's needed advice. The ride is very smooth and peaceful, but there are better ways to spend $200 if you're going to sit down the whole time. You can buy a wicker basket at Hobby Lobby for $4 and put it over your head if you wanna look at basket weave for an hour. 10/10 if you want to have a good time.

I’m giving a 5 for the staff. Great staff! Very friendly and knowledgeable. The ride was a big surprise in many ways... 1. very low ... wind was too strong at high elevation so we skirted the earth around 10’ to 20’ - Literally touching the tops Of the bushes. 2. Very short... don’t know how long we were up but it was well under an hour and felt like 20 minutes. 3. Incredibly smooth... like sailing on glass. 4. Very cold... a Phoenix cold snap hit that night (40!) and we froze while watching the balloon fill. Once up the gas jets kept us warm. 5. Breakfast was a treat. I would go again with this company but only on a warmer day for a longer ride. This was a great introduction though. And those afraid of heights would have no problems... too smooth to be fearful.

VERY very fun flight! The super-accommodating front desk staff was amazing (ever try to feed 2 vegans, 1 gluten free, and 1 vegetarian, out of 5 passengers??? They did it!) JW was an awesome pilot, and the chase crew was gold! This should be your only choice. It is the best gift to get and the best gift to receive. Our flight crew made the flight so much fun and safe from take off the landing. We had a flight scheduled with a different company that canceled our flight last minute but didn’t call me instead they emailed me. I email right back asking them to reschedule it and I also called and left them a voice mail asking them to reschedule it. No one emailed me back or called me back. We were here on vacation and had a limited amount of time to get a flight in. I waited 3 days then called them again. They answered and just said they were booked for the next week and couldn’t do anything for us. Terrible customer service is all I can say about “Aerogelic Ballooning”. But that being said “Hot Air Expeditions” is the very best! They even set up a table and chairs after our flight and feed us some snacks and a champagne toast. I am not a big fan of hot air Expeditions, the management leaves a little bit to be desired, but their safety record is impeccable. I've known their pilots for a long time and each have thousands and thousands of hours of flight time. If you're balloon and had a tear in it, that was because it wasn't reported to the shop after the last flight. The fault belongs to the pilot who flew it last. Unfortunately it happens more then it should. This is because of management in creating fear of repromand or dismissal for tearing the balloon. Previous management understood the learning curve of new guys, and emphasized the importance of reporting any damage. This dessert is not balloon friendly and stuff happens. As far as balloons flying low over homes, it is because they happen to live next to a long time landing zone. Show me the picture of the balloon scraping your rooftop, because that is the only way I would believe it. Balloons have been landing there long before their homes were built. That's like buying a home next to the dump then expecting the dump to move. .Come on girls, get your young inexperienced drivers to slow down. If a pilot cannot land without them, you need a new pilot! I've crewed for the best pilots around at Hot Air Expeditions as well as Rainbow Riders, and not one would ever allow drivers to risk residents safety just so they could be there upon landing. It boils down to poor management, but has nothing to do with passenger safety or the efforts of the pilots and crew to make the flight the most memorable and exciting endevor of your lifetime.

What a day! Arrived 5:45am, in vans by 6:15, launch site by 6:45. Walking around the balloon site (maybe a dozen this morning), dwarfed by the growing orbs, enveloped by the sound of hot air burners--so exciting. After a quick hop into our double wide basket, instructions, and a water bottle, we were off by 7:15. Ride lasted about an hour, rose to 6200 ft (below the 10k FAA Class C limit), still far away but surprisingly close to overhead 737s flight path, what was surprising was how quiet and peaceful it was. By far the most entertaining was the landing, where we buzzed a gas station and entire neighborhood at an elevation of 20 ft before finding our chase crew. A nice, light breakfast and ride back to the starting point by 9:30 made for an absolutely unforgettable morning! Thanks to pilot Tommy & driver Justin.

Everything from the ride to the balloon launch site to the landing was absolutely spectacular and awesome. The van driver should be a standup comedian, he had us laughing the whole ride to where the balloon would be set up and launched. I didn't quite get his name but he was pivotal in the 5-star rating. The captain, Captain Craig, was very friendly, incredibly knowledgable, and also had a great sense of humor. It seems everyone in this company is happy with their jobs and in effect they keep their customers just as happy.

My husband surprised me with this balloon adventure for our 25th wedding anniversary, as this was the only must-do item on my bucket list. Kyle was an incredible pilot, not only with superb, smooth navigating, but also through his wonderful knowledge about ballooning in general and the area we were riding above. A feather couldn't have floated more smoothly than this ride. Todd, the Crew Chief, was also very personable and fun to be around. My only wish is that it would have never ended! :-)

This was truly a magical experience. I tried to book a private balloon first, but they were booked and I'm actually extremely glad we did the group option. I'm an introverted person, but you become fast friends when you're in the air together and it made the experience a lot more enjoyable. Our flight assistant, Jarred, was on time, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our Pilot Mike was professional and warmed up with a good sense of humor. I appreciated that we practiced a high wind (rough) landing before taking off, because we all felt perfectly prepared when it happened and had a good laugh as our basket tipped over in the desert 🏜 . If you're someone that suffers from motion sickness, FEAR NOT. You feel like you're standing completely still! It's really a once in a lifetime experience. (Trust me, I can get sick on planes, trains, standard vehicles, watching shaky movies, playing video games, swinging, you name it!!!) 100% worth the price tag and early morning wake-up!

First time hot air balloon experience and this team has set the bar high! I really appreciated their highly organized system, long, scenic, and enjoyable ballon ride, amazing customer service, and all the employees who went above and beyond to make sure our experience was safe and fun! The breakfast and mimosas after the ballon ride were delicious and they even brought a homemade cake for us all to enjoy (at 8am - yes please!) for a person who was there celebrating a birthday. Make sure you request Jonathan as your captain! Can’t wait to come back! Highly recommended Hot Air Expeditions!
