GOV Vacation is a great travel program and site for active and retired Vets. The discounts and travel packages are superb. They price mactch for all travel needs. The customer service is outstanding. My Rep Freddy is the best in the business. I highly recommend them. You definitely get a bang for your bucks. I've using them for 10 years now. Even if you don't purchase a points, money, and free trip package; the $29 a year membership is unbeatable. Try it out.

It was easy for me to find what I was looking for. But unbeknown to me and I believe GOV Vacations Rewards after I paid in full after I added the extra insurance cost & Gov Taxes, I was giving a bill for additional daily service charge of $16.00 a day time 2 guest total of $32.00 a day for the 7 day stay.= $224.00 additional cost.

The salespeople were very understanding. I was pleased with the thorough jod that they did to expain all my benefits and suggestions on how to upgrade my account. I have used the rewards program three times this summer and it saved me money on hotels, resorts, and cruises. I was skeptical of renewing my membership at first but a sale representative named Diana persuaded me to renew another membership. I want to take full advantage of the points that I currently have and use them for future vacation travel. Diana was very polite and very helpful.

This was our second trip through Gov Vacation Rewards and both were exceptional. Our first was a graduation trip for our son and his two best friends at Grand Mayan Riviera Maya and our most recent was a birthday trip for my wife & I to Grand Mayan Acapulco. The Vidanta resorts are truly excellent! More importantly, every single person I spoke to from Gov Vacation Rewards was friendly, professional, and knowledgable. From picking a destination, to booking the resort, to booking flights... everything was top-notch. The staff go out of their way to ensure every question is answered, every concern addressed, very detail explained. I just wish I would have travelled using Gov Vacation Rewards sooner!

It would have been nice if we knew ahead of time that the Resort, we were going to stay was a vacation club promotion. We lost 5 hours experiencing hard sale tactics that took away from our vacation. We were caught off guard. Otherwise, Government Vacation Rewards is a great program which saves you money.

Oct 2018 , I booked (Mayan Palace Riviera Maya - Resort Cancun) they said they would upgrade us to the (The Bliss), but when they move you away from the pool, restaurant, beach and then you must walk 15-20 min to get somewhere. Is it really a upgrade? Maybe the room was the only upgrade, (we didn't get a chance to view the other room) the distant from amenity's got further away. I'm hoping to make other Vets aware of this. If you don't mind the walking (20min) from pool/beach/restaurants then go for it. Also on the Gov web site we could not find any information about the resort The Bliss. don't get confused with The Grand Bliss. Two different resorts. The Bliss is only 3 floors.

Gladys is great, but sometimes it takes a day or two or three to reach her. You need to have a better system where the agents are not overloaded with emails so they can answer them and I still say they need a second phone where they can call the cruise lines and while on hold, take care of other customers.

In the years that I have been subscribed to the Government Vacation Rewards (GVR), Sarah Wright has been the most exceptional GVR agent that I have interacted with. With a very pleasing personality, she was courteous, patient, comprehensive and highly professional as can be. The GVR products and services with its many details and intricacies can be a bit overwhelming and complicated to assimilate through a phone call conversation, especially for those like me who then to be visual in the learning process. Sarah's sharp communicative skills coupled with simplicity and patience made it so easy to grasp and understand in one sitting. Never had a GVR agent explained its products and services to me with such ease and friendliness. I truly appreciated Sarah's commitment in helping me better understand GVR and all it has to offer. They have made special trips like my 50th birthday, and our 20th Anniversary so rememberable and extremely special. 3/2023 trip at the Vidanta World property in Puerto Vallarta was amazing as normal. You have to try not only Government Vacation Rewards but the Vidanta properties. You will absolutely be amazed.

Its a great service. I with the human reaction was a little bit better. I often am not able to speak with a human and I am on hold for long periods of time. Once when I was trying to register another person the site did not work. i was trying to register him under my account. It wouldnt work. He eventually got his own account thus causing me to lose credit for his registration. is there any way to fix this?

I initially purchased a package from Omar and had a couple of issues scheduling my cruise. Throughout the process I had numerous phone calls between Cesar and Omar making my final experience a very satisfied one. make the first confirmation of a booking correct. To book then find out property not available wastes time when dates at close. Even now I am waiting for second confirmation so I know everything a go. The first contact after booking is a booking confirmation which in first sentence states the request being processed but not yet a guarantee. Then also mentions status notification may take up to 5 days. My vacation starts in 7 days from the booking so if my second attempt to book is foiled by not being available then I have potential less than 2 days to rebook or lose my vacation spot. Keep in mind all my used vacation times have been excellent since I normally have a few weeks to book.

I bought into this company several years ago and use it off and on. They have some great quarterly specials if you love Mexico. If they got more of other places I would use it more. Their staff is excellent and not trying to sound mean but sometimes I do get someone that has difficulty with the English language and it is hard to get the transaction done.
It's like or is RCI but I have to admit I do like the deals. Most places I have been with them if I didn't want to hear the talk, they never bothered me again.

Westgate Lakes is a really nice place to stay. My 2 bedroom villa was clean and spacious. The slides just opened and it was great. The second bedroom tv was not working, when we left for the park I told the front desk and when we returned it was working. Fast response. I highly recommend this resort.

I was hoping to apply it to the purchase of the plane tickets; however, he took the time to explain why I couldn't use my vacation cash for the flights, but he could send me a check for the vacation cash to actually use on my vacation or however, I saw fit to use it. He didn't talk down to me while explaining; he ensured I was well informed and felt comfortable with my decision. I appreciated his time, and I am glad he gave me his extension so that I can call him for future bookings. You should give Sujoy a 25% raise! He does a great job of taking care of his clients.

Because my agent (Myra) very patiently arranged a flight to Colombia South America with a different airline returning me to Jacksonville, FL. This allowed me to arrive in Medellin Colombia in the middle of the afternoon instead of at midnight. This made my friend who will be waiting for me very happy when I shared my flight schedule with them. Also my return trip will leave Medellin in the afternoon making it possible to have a leisurely lunch with them before I leave their country. I made my reservation the day before we needed the hotel room and had no problems. It was convenient and our check in was smooth. Our hotel was nicer than i thought it would be and had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable (pool and free breakfast). By far the most convenient and easy time i have ever had booking a hotel. The only thing that we paid for out of pocket was a $3 hotel fee when we left, but that is pretty normal. I have used GVR twice for Cocoa Beach and for Panama City and my husband and I are thinking about booking a cruise using it for our next family vacation.

I thought I was extremely lucky to get Jorge as the agent to talk to. We had some difficulty getting my Visa card approved because of a fraud investigation from having my card compromised earlier this year. He told me he'd hold my info until the next day because I would have time to contact my card fraud people. All this was approved by his supervisor. The next day he called me while I was at my bank. To make a long story short, he stayed with me all the way through until it was approved. Customer service for booking a cruise was great, however, I was deeply disappointed by the fact that GVR no longer accepts the military star card as a form of payment. We are a military community and I think a good number of us hold that card. I only used my military card with GVR for vacations and now I can't use it with you any longer.

Well, I bought a package and the customer service rep answered the phone and took my credit card number with no hold time. We then talked it over some more and decided we would not use the package since we want to go camping, fishing and hunting for the next couple of years. I called back the next day to cancel and i was transferred to "customer service" to process a refund. Was on hold for 25.1 minutes and got a dial tone. Called again, was transferred to "customer service", was on hold for 33.3 minutes and got a dial tone. Called a 3rd time, was transferred to "customer service", was on hold for 33.2 minutes and got a dial tone. Was on hold for a total of 70.5 minutes and never got to talk with "Customer Service". Called next day and got put on hold again. Called back and was elevated to a "Supervisor" who told me the refund would be processed. Waited and did not see a refund, although the points did get reversed in my GVR account. Gave a bad review and got a call from someone else who noted the refund was notated in my file, but was never actually transferred to someone who could process the refund. The refund then got put on a priority and lo and behold the refund showed up today. Will continue to use GVR as a travel agent, but will never again purchase any packages. And I would never recommend to any of my acquaintances to purchase a package either. Will continue to use GVR to book flights, etc because you take the Military Star card which carries a very favorable interest rate.

I have noticed a few complaints by some members that were dated in the years around 2011. As a member with macro-degeneration, I find it difficult to read your deals on the website. In particular, I found some valuable information at the bottom of the site in the fine print area. I believe you would have fewer complaints if you would display the fine print area in a better format. An example of how one would integrate the points, savings credits, and cash credits in a hypothetical trip would be helpful for new users also.

I have used Goverment Vacation Rewards several times there usually isn’t a problem but I arrived at the second hotel in 2 months and for the second time I am told the room I booked isn’t available. You pay extra and chose things based on what was offered on the website and when you arrive you don’t receive that. There’s a problem.

Not so much a place as an opportunity to go places. Very good program for veterans. Changes were made to how the credits may be applied which was a big disappointment for me. A service fee now applies to booking over the phone and you can’t use travel credits with cash credits to fully fund a booking like you used to be able to do years ago. I probably will keep using my savings credits and converting points credits alternatively to maximize a reservation for vacation. They are not cheaper than other web sites for hotels car rentals etc- but they do price match. This is a hate off gloves down challenge for all the bargain hunters out there who have signed up with the program to try to find a better published rate.

Ordered the car I asked for. I asked for a class d car and got a class b or a small class c. I was told it was a full size car, it was a compact. I am 6 ft tall so bang my head every time I enter or depart vehicle. The only reason I got car I did is Counter lady felt sorry for me. I got a Hyundai Elantra. I like a lot the program and the deals it has to offer. On top of that, there is always room for improvements. Comparing with how everything started and how far GVR is now it is amazing. I live the quarterly specials, and the rewards and points program is awesome. Packages and Memberships are worth every penny if you know how to bargain, negotiate and take advantage of everything your account manager can offer. And of course being able to use your Military Star card for most of the purchase, it is indisputable. I just love it. I buy most of my flight tickets with them and most of the time if find your flight somewhere else, a flight specialist will book it for through your GVR account and you'll get extra points for future transactions.

I found the website quite difficult to navigate as a computer illiterate. After a period of several days and numerous hours, I was able to navigate through a number of websites to piece together bits and pieces of information, with a final attempt to contact a referral telephone contact (Antonio Garcia) at GVR that gave me some comprehensive instructions to get me on track to complete my mission of trying to secure some airline tickets to S. California. Also, vehicle rental prices are definitely not compatible to either direct or through a broker.

I must say I am glad to have this service. I deployed and forgot about my Government rewards account completely. Two years later I remembered I had 75,000+ points I can use for travel. Much to my surprise they were gone. I didn't understand why, so I called them. I was told I had a certain amount of time to use my points or they would be taken (which they were). I explained to them that I completely forgot about the timeframe and that I was deployed during the timeframe when my points expired.
I asked if I show proof would they be re-established? They was no guarantee and that it was up to the manager at the time. So I sent them anyway with hopes of the return of my points and I received a call saying that my points were added back!!! 84000!!!! The manager was so understanding and said give this lady her points back, according to the specialist I was dealing with, we both laughed and I booked two flights to Vegas!! I have until August to use the remainder of points, I was told Weds are the best days to book, so today is that day!!!
Also, I would like to add a personal recognition, Geoffrey Urbanski is a great Account manager. You get the best of both worlds with him. Very personable and professional. Great sense of humor and understands his customers needs!!

I am still not convinced that prices are the lowest in all cases. However, I recently booked a cruise with Government Vacation Rewards and after comparing with several other companies, including directly with the cruise line, I was able to secure what I hope is the best price I could get. That being said, the Government Vacation Rewards points I used (which I paid for with my membership) is probably the main contributor to getting a lower price.

My issues with Government Vacation Rewards (GVR), includes, but not limited to: 1. To use your points, you have to call in and when making reservations, you are charged $20-$25 for this service, which means that if you continue to make reservations, the points you do have gets eaten up, because 2,000-2,500 points add up; 2. Every time that I have either reserved a flight or a rental car, the prices that the representative quotes me, is always much different from the GVR website, which I have always been on GVR's website at the time of calling so I know the prices as well; 3. For whatever reason, expiration dates changes, specifically for my 4 night resort certificate, which says it is "expired", though the expiration is 10/6/2020, the dates have changed so I took a screenshot, just to cover myself, to counter what a GVR representative would tell me in opposition; 4. Booking flights is somewhat of a headache, when considering that airlines charge additional for luggage, unfortunately while booking with GVR, it seems as they they can not add luggage, which means that the customer more than likely will have to pay higher luggage fees, for not adding luggage during the reservation process; & 5. There seems to be no clear cut method on when making monthly payments, on when a GVR Member will have access to all or more of their points, as it makes it unrealistic and unfair for the points be available after full payment, as they would have to squeeze in several reservations within a few months. I've notice this only once, but for November 2019, the quarterly special dates changed, as I tend to put the dates on my calendar on my phone. I would not have none for it not being for an email I received.

After inspecting all of my documents I noticed their were errors on some spelling of names and birthdays. Then within the same reservation their was a discrepancy in the amount of plane tickets. I called back today, Sunday because there was a problem with the room reservation that I made in Tampa and the hotel didn't want to honor our reservation. Great selection and prices. To top that, we always earn points when using GVR. Using GVR correctly works out great for us. We have realistic expectations and often check our account to ensure we don't let our points expire. We also often take advantage of their quarterly specials. We now have over 3500 savings credits and over 116,000 regular travel points. We're planning to go back to one of the famous Vidanta resorts soon (our seventh time), we traveled to California, Wisconsin, Alaska, Hawaii, many cruises to the Caribbean, and a 15-day cruise through the Panama Canal. Now, after our COVID vaccination and Europe reopening, we just booked a hotel with GVR in Vienna, Austria. We checked most of the other hotel reservation sites; again, GVR was the best price. That is why we use GVR for our everyday travel agency and book routine hotel reservations to earn even more points. Love it!

I paid the $2000 to join and found that my resort certificates had expired in just over 1 year after joining. I had no warning about the expiring cert. I can reactivate it for $299. I did get a great deal on the quarterly special. I booked a cruise thru GOV VR but only saved a few dollars in Feb. and I think I had made my last payment of $159 in Jan. or Feb. I was told something about saving $600 I sure did not save that much on my cruise. Why did I get 7 hotel certificates? I make hotel reservsations thru, only to find I can make the same reser. cheaper thru the hotel itself or thru their rewards program.

Well if you don't stay on top of when your points expire, you could lose out on points and money spent earning the points. It would be nice if GVR sent out warning notifications when you are getting close to losing them.

After my recent experience with having a cruise cancelled, when I tried to call and pay it before the due date but your there was a GVR message about hurricanes in Florida (in September) and I was on work travel the following two months outside of the U.S. , I was ready to cancel my membership with GVR entirely.
HOWEVER, a gentleman by the name of Christopher Miklavcic saved the day for both my family and before I took to social media to rant about the poor service. Christopher single handily save Christmas for the 7 of us traveling on our cruise over Christmas and for that I will be forever grateful. It's people like Chris that make your travel service worthwhile. I had 3 other people the proceeding day that could not help me and I gave up on. As a matter of fact I called the day I spoke with Chris specifically to cancel the trip for refund and severe my service with GVR altogether.

GOV Rewards is a very good Rewards program; however, customer service past the sell point is a challenge. The hassle I received is not worth the effort-- you pretty much are paying for one vacation via membership, so if you plan to take one good one a year anyway-- just go direct or use AFFES or USAA's program for military.
