Look, I get it, we all like the DMV as much as we like going to the dentist; however, I have to give the AZ DMV on Bell Rd in Surprise credit. The past three times I have been there, the employees have been polite, helpful and patient. One key to your experience is to book an appointment online. The wait is minimal with an appointment. I had a two separate title transactions and the employee was tremendously helpful. As much as it pains me to say this about a DMV, this place is efficient and just doesn't feel like the DMVs we all love to hate.

After arriving, the hours of service posted on the door had changed for today's visit. A paper was posted stating they wouldn't be available until noon today, which was a 40 minute
wait. The line grew increasingly, but upon opening was greeted professionally and friendly. The clerk was very helpful and everything was handled just as I'd hoped. 😃

I made an appointment and I got right in. I was transferring 2 bike titles and a truck. It took time to process all that but the girl helping me was fast, organized and helpful. I grew up in Oregon and their motor vehicle division went nearly as fast nor organized as Arizona!!

Regardless of which transaction I was doing, this MVD is well run and service is always prompt. Phone response is also far above most offices like this. I am not sure how they did it, but this place is not like other MVDs.

I was pleasantly surprised how quick and efficient the process was to upgrade to the Travel ID. I like that you can make an appointment online,except it was difficult to first find out how to schedule for the Travel ID specifically. It was extremely annoying. Other than that I was in and out in less than 15 mins.

It wasn’t like I thought it would be. I waited in line for maybe 15 minutes and got all my paperwork done in 10 minutes so it was a lot faster than I remembered. The only bad part was the bill for TTL…$3,800 kind of bummed me out.

Staff was friendly and efficient. Didn't end up getting there until well after 4 pm (so sorry to the staff for being so late!) but the staff got through the long line pretty quickly. I was out of there just after 5 with everything I needed. I can't remember the name of the nice lady that helped me yesterday, but I'm grateful for her kindness and efficiency. I have a genetic condition that causes pain, and I was getting to my physical limit when she got me out and on my way. Thank you all so much for all you do! I know DMV workers get a bad wrap, but you all are wonderful and so many of us appreciate you and all you so! Stay safe!!

Went in today to get my license updated to the new travel ID and had an awesome experience! My situation is a little complicated and Marie, the lady that helped me took care of me quickly and efficiently. When I walked in it was packed and I fully expected to be there for at least two hours. I was at a service window after about a 15 minute wait and out door, mission accomplished, about 30 minutes from the time I walked in.

This location is busy! Went at 1:30 in the afternoon and it took a full hour. The clerk who took care of my transaction was very nice, and she knew what she was doing. Less than 10 minutes at the window, so 50 minutes waiting in line. I wish I knew how to make an appointment, so next time I can stand in the extremely short "B" line.

Very smooth and pleasant transaction today with Marie at the Surprise MVD. Arrived at 845am and only 3 people in line ahead of us. Short wait. We're new to Az so new DL, registration, titles for car and RV, and voter registration and we were done in about 1/2 hr. Marie was great!! Be sure to have the required paperwork

Very friendly and professional place. Wait times are very reasonable if you don't have an appointment, but I highly recommend setting up an appointment if possible. The staff tries to get everyone in and out within 30 minutes. If you have your paper work ready, it is very easy.

Normally no on in their right mind would give any visit to an MVD office 3 stars let alone 5. But these days if you can get thru any government office without eating a bottle of antacids your doing great. I was surprised that they were open for business without an appointment. Even better almost all the booths had clerks in them. I got my license renewal in about 20 minutes and on my way home, so for this time at least I had a relatively pleasant experience.

No one likes to go to the DMV. But I was in and out in 20 minutes or so! I had made an appointment online, so I didn't have to wait nearly as long. The employees were helpful and answered my questions. Overall not a bad experience!

Make an appointment. I made one on line and upon arrival no one was ahead of me. Contrast my experience with those lacking an appointment: in a long line, made more frustrating due to ADOT employee announcements that due to slow computer response, every transaction would be delayed. I was in and out in under 15 minutes, even with the slow computer response. The gentleman that assisted me (Tony) was considerate and professional 👏. All things considered, ADOT has favorably impressed me.

Walked in and saw an ocean of customers but to my surprise, was out the door in about 30 minutes. Even better than that, was the clerk we had. I was there for a new license and vehicle registration. My daughter, for her driving permit. Our clerk was Melissa and I swear, next time I go I’ll wait in line for an hour if I must, just to get her again. So kind, great sense of humor, and so knowledgeable. She is the type of person that will brighten your day regardless of circumstance. Arizona MVD, you have a true gem in Melissa!

I tend to write positive and negative reviews depending on customer service and how clean the building is.
Before Covid-19, I dreaded going to any DMV because of the extremely long wait lines and the frustrating lack of information on what documents to bring. But after Covid-19, it seems that this location really improved their customer service. Clients with appointments do still have to wait, but the line is a lot quicker than walk-in clients. I think the pre-filling information on the website helps a lot of the waiting. The employees have been so far nice. The interior and the bathroom is well renovated.

If you have an import and speak to anyone else, the other supervisors won’t know the process as well as the workers. They will literally not help you at all. They will be lazy.
I’ve register multiple cars and imports over the years. They if Rachel or Rich doesn’t help you. You might as well go somewhere else

I did not have an appointment beforehand, but I was given one for about 1.5 hours later. When I came back, I was taken inside immediately, directed where to wait and was assisted a few minutes later. The rep was friendly, courteous and efficient. Overall, I must say, today's visit exceeded all of my expectations. Kudos

I had a great experience. Got a travel id. They only gave my husband a regular drivers license so make sure you tell them if you want the travel ID. He had to go back.

It was nice and quick, but they should have some one else outside to take the peoples name that already had an appointment, so we can get inside, because we just went to the line already formed , but after 5 minutes I just went and asked and then she asked everyone who had an appointment and got us inside. :) she was amazing though!!!

Transferring vehicle title, "Lead," Marisa said the number "2" where the notary had entered information made the title invalid since it was darker than the other numbers. When I asked for any objective specifics as to what makes a title invalid she took an attitude, refused to discuss further, refused to tell me her name or title. (Another employee later gave me her name.) She said I could speak with Dave, the manager. I waited a while and then the woman at that window came back and Dave was on lunch! :) Of course he was!
These are government employees whom we tax payers pay for - and yet we are routinely treated with contempt.

I've never been to this location.. There was a huge line when I got there. Half didn't have an appointment which is required right now. Staff came out shortly after to get appointments checked in and have us wait outside. Then scheduled appointments for later in the week for everyone else. I dont think this was normal but the staff handled it like champs. They were all friendly and communicative. Everyone I interacted with was kind and helpful.

This was a pleasant outing. It took a total of 30 minutes from the time I entered the building until I walked out with my paper copy of my renewed driver's license. It included waiting in line, change of address, eye test, license picture and copy of temp license. The employees were quick and friendly. I have been in Arizona since 1976 and this was by far the quickest, easiest and least stressful renewal ever. Kudos to whoever streamlined this process. It was downright pleasant and easy. Thank you to the employees at 13009 Bell Road MVD.i didn't have an appointment and they fit me in, pleasantly. You all made my day. Hugs and kisses to all of you.

Extremely rude individual working here. Went to get travel-ready license. Went to window 17 at approx 350pm on Thursday December 30th. Lady started out with, "do you have the documents you need so we can get this started?" I replied with, "I'm not sure. I brought a lot." You don't know what you need?!" She exclaimed. "I hope you did because if you didn't we won't be able to help you." Fantastic way to start a conversation and what customer service you have! She is the epitome as to why post offices and DMVs get such a bad reputation.

The first thing I noticed at the when we walked up at the Surprise location was a nice covered awning outside with misters for those who had to wait outside the bldg. When you get in, be prepared to stand during your appt because there are no chairs at the cubicles to sit in anymore. I was pleasantly surprised that Surprise location was very customer conscious and did everything within their power to to make our requests happen! They gave us clear explanations and clear options if they were unable to fullfill our request and why. They also patiently explained the paper trail and what they had done. They took time with us and we never felt rushed or under a time constraints but they in turn worked quickly and efficiently to complete our requests in a timely manner.
Their prompt, courteous, and friendly, yet professional behavior was refreshing and welcomed from this government entity.

It had been a few years since I had gone to this MVD, I have always dreaded going into the MVD because of there horrible service and the long wait. I have to say this recent visit left me amaze! They were very friendly, informative and fast. Even the employees seem more engaged with each other. I hope it continues this way as it change the way I thought about the MVD previously. SO much better of an experience here vs Wickenburg!! Out of the 3 individuals who assisted us from the time we walked in the door to the time we left were professional, kind, and actually acted human. I also observed how the other employees treated the other customer and was please with this as well. THANK YOU to whom ever the nice lady was who took my daughter on her drive test for her license! I give it three stars solely based on the attitude I have witnessed twice now from the lady with the lazy eye treat people. She was so rude to a veteran couple and they clearly needed help. The first time we came here she was also rude. Seems annoyed always. Went to use the bathroom and wash my hands only to realize the bottom of the soap dispenser is full of dead bugs. Not much sanitization there. Otherwise it was an easy process with appt.

This is not the MVD of the past. The Surprise location on Bell staff were friendly and helpful. They even showed personality. :) I expected the worst and got the best. Short wait on Tuesday morning for fed-approved driver's license and plate refund.

This DMV is closest to my home. Both my boys came here to get their Driver's Licenses, and we didn't have any issues whatsoever. The staff was friendly. Just recently I went in to get the new Travel ID, and what bothered me more then anything else, was that they had NO CHAIRS to sit on. I have a REALLY bad back and had issues all day because I was havin got stand for over an hour. It's not right that they took the seats away. People need to sit.i would rather not come here just because of that but I can't drive long
distances due to my bad back so I'm having to come here. My advice is dont come in unless you have a Walker, it will be needed

When I went I waited for my turn, there were a lot of people, but hey, people need to take care of business. I got called to window 10, when arriving there I smiled and she smiled back, and asked how she could help me. Her name is Bree, very personable person. We took care of business, new license, car registration, handicap plate and placard. She was so pleasant, we were having small talk, laughing and she never once was rude to me. I know a lot of people complained and I told her that, she said everyone seems to want something and they want it NOW. Goodness give these girls a chance to do their job. She never once was rude. I thanked her for her help, and she said she appreciated to see a smiling face as I sat down in front of her. You get what you give. So those of you having a bad time change your attitude.

Trying to help a friend re-register her golf cart as she has been stuck in Chicago due to the death of her husband and covid. I had all t.h.e paper work and information but was having trouble at kiosk . I told a person what l was doing and she said l couldn't re-register a golf cart that belonged to someone else. I offered to show her all the paperwork but she said no. I again said l believe there is a mistake somewhere. She said l need to leave the DMV NOW. She then gave me a pamphlet and said your friend needs to do it on line. You need to leave . I went to the girl that initially let me in. She was extremely understanding and helpful and proceeded to assist me at the kiosk. In 2 minutes l had the golf cart re registered. The DMV needs more people like this individual.

Due to the nature of the business I'm in, I'm in there several times per month. If you have all the information they will need, the process of getting it done is fairly fast. Some days the days are longer than others. I don't know why people complain when they fail a driver's test or when they don't bring all the documents needed. They have to turn all of that over when completing the transaction. It's their job to make sure they have everything needed. Would you rather find out they just titled your vehicle to a thief? Maybe look online before you go and find the list of items to bring.

Went there at 8AM today for a tile lien change and thought I was late. I was surprised that there were not many cars parking outside. Went into the room and found there were not many people there. Most of the seats are empty. The employee was very nice and helpful and took me only 15 minutes to get it done. Don't understand why people can give only 1 star at this location. If you go to Chandler location at 8AM, there is already a line outside the MVD. I start loving Peoria and Surprise now.

Lines are relatively short, but not necessarily always fast. There used to be a lobby with seats and you waited for your number to be called, now everyone is organized into different lines and you have to stand and wait. The woman that gives out the numbers is SUPER RUDE if you don’t hear her or understand her directions she just repeats herself very loudly and sharply and acts like you’re doing something really wrong for asking anything again. I guess that’s a typical dmv experience, but I’d like to know what the hell crawled up her ass that made her so bitter.

Can not understand the people who rate one star or want no stars at all. When going there and you see a full parking lot or a long line of people, you're entirely free to turn around go somewhere else or come back another time.
If you know you need to go to DMV so get yourself prepared! I myself packed drinks and a book to read when I had to go there with several things to be done.
When entered, I had about ten people in front of me to register with two info counters open and a self-checking in machine or how they are called. To my surprise, the line in front of me moved so quickly I waited only a couple of mins than it was my turn.
I told the lady that I need to register a new car, a temporary license for another car, plus a new Arizona ID. I added I know its a few things I need therefore I'm not even sure whether this can all be done at the same time, but she replied „no worries we'll handle it“. She than told me that the numbering system was down, already since the beginning of the week and probably would last even towards the end of that week.
She than sent me to take a new picture for the ID. Than I went waiting. The lady there directing the people said we're doing something like singing chair and moved the people around on after another until it was my turn. I think this idea of the rotating chairs was the best they could do with the numbering system down. But I still heard people complaining calling them ignorant amateurs etc. I could not read many pages on my book and waited only about 20-25 mins switching from one chair to the next until it was my turn.
I again told the lady, that I have several requests but she answered „no problem lets do one by one“. I got the title transfered, got my temporary license and the new ID would be sent by mail, which I received only 3 days later. The lady was really kind, we talked about cars, license plate with funy meanings, unique nbrs etc and even about our pets - I found out that she is an animal lover and falls especially for dogs. We came to the pet talking when I mentioned her that I found an abandoned kitten out in the deserted area behind 107 and kept her. When I noticed that she loves pets I told her the entire story and how thankful the cat is today (now one year old).
Anyway, we had such nice talks while she did file all the paperwork and issued me the licenses and title.
Again to all of those rating one star, complaining receptionist being rude, govmt staff useless etc. Try it with a smile, when coming to the counter. Greet them with the same respect you want to be treated. I made the girls at the reception smiling and had a talk to the lady that issued my licenses like we were friends for years. If you want to be treated nicely, change your attitude and temper. Go there prepared and never forget to smile!
When I left I had no doubt, to using these DMV again, regardless whether we have to do musical chair again or whether the numbering system is working. Well done DMV!

There's no 6 star option. Otherwise I would have rated this infinity. Last came here 3 years ago and the wait time was fantastic! In fact, I just Now got out having received the vital information I came for: I will need to fill out a form which also requires my birth certificate!! Yes!! Having waited years on the rollercoaster of fun in the motor vehicle division theme park building to be informed of this vital piece of knowledge, I am so happy to finally be right back in line for the never ending ride! Spoiler Alert: I brought my birth certificate ticket gyyaaaa!!!! I can hardly contain the excitement as I wait for the ride I will unlock now. Keep up the fantastic work guys! P.S. I've noticed people saying you got rid of the number system :( I loved waiting days for my number to finally reach bingo, I hope you have something just as good implemented in its place! Never stop pleasing, I only come here or receive nothing but good news from you guys, whether it be a personalized ticket with my photo as an invite to your newest ride, or an updated letter informing me of the status of my seemingly in flux driving privileges. You really never see what's coming next! Love you guys and your mission! Keep doing what you do, you're perfect!

I drive out here from Peoria because the Phoenix and Deer Valley locations I'm close to are horrendous. There's emissions testing right down the street too if you need it and I was even able to get the custom plate I wanted here.

You have to correct your mistakes they can’t pass you if you hit the cones cause imagine if it was a person? Failure is hard but you have to understand to fix the mistakes The girl Dinah is very nice and she’s patient with others .
