I am like so many others who base their decisions on reading business reviews. When I read Gate 1, I was shocked to see so many bad reviews about people reaching out to Gate 1 customer service, which could go on for 3 to 4 hours with little resolution. However I am now after finishing my trip to Egypt I am going to state that Gate 1 tour is an exemplary company who knows how to give their customer a true sense of travel. I took a 9 days trip to Egypt and everything went smoothly. They planned it very well by putting us in a clean 4 or 5 stars hotel, sending us to tour sites with an armed policeman, and explaining to us how to avoid local people selling souvenirs. Above all they had a very knowledgeable guide named Sherif Genidy who explained with distinction relevant information about the history of Egypt. He was very careful in taking care of a large group of 40 people about schedules, keeping count of people in very crowded situations, providing information as to where we should go to shop or eat- he is simply amazing. If one who is planning to go visit Egypt, look for Sherif you will not be disappointed. I have traveled to lot of countries and saw a lot of guides I will without hesitation give Gate 1 5-stars. I understand during covid many companies suffered losing employees to run business and that was why Gate 1 couldn't handle customer service properly. You can count on them now, they are one good travel company.

We booked an Italy trip with stops at Venice, Florence, and Rome. This is not a fully guided tours. Gate 1 booked all the hotels, transportation with options to book local walking tours at each stop. The trip took place at end of Oct 2022. Gate 1 provided all the travel document. Instructions to meet tour guides were clear. The tour guide in Venice (Cynthia) and Florence (Roberto) were awesome. The one at Vatican was rather disappointing. Overall, we like the what Gate 1 has provided. We've booked another trip to Spain with them.

I love Gate1. I have been on 7 tours with them and everyone has exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend them. The prices are great and the tour guides are knowledgeable and helpful. I loved Kenya, Morocco, Ecuador, Jordan, Peru, Michigan and the tour of central Europe. I just signed up for South Africa!

My family and I were on a Gate 1 Tour recently, “14 Day Romantic Italy”. It was simply fantastic! It was a very active tour that covered everything we wanted to see and more! We have taken 2 tours with them - Egypt and Italy. Both times we had a fantastic group and the tour manager was awesome. They made sure we kept busy and saw all the highlights. The logistics were handled flawlessly both times. Totally saved time not standing in line to get entry tickets to sites.

I had taken a Dubai tour with Gate 1 years ago, and have continuously recommended them to family and friends. Fast forward to this year, I booked a Christmas market tour to celebrate my mom’s 70th birthday, set to leave on Dec 15th. Unfortunately, I suffered a pulmonary embolism on Sunday, Dec 4th that nearly cost me my life. I called Gate 1 to explain the situation and that I was not cleared to fly, and they only offered a credit of ten percent on a $5500+ package (a measly $286 approximately). I paid the package in full back in May and even got two of my cousins to come along to celebrate my mom’s birthday. I told my cousins to go on and use their package so they would not lose out like I did. I will never use Gate1 ever again! I am disappointed in their lack of empathy or concern. I’ve worked with other travel entities that when something unfortunate occurs they offer alternatives that will not disadvantage their customers. Update: Brian, a manager from Gate 1, reached out, and he was very apologetic about the service I received. He noted that they will be working on better training for their representatives. He is working on my refunds, and he will also be assisting with the documentation needed for a claim through my card’s travel protection benefits for the penalties I incurred. He’s been very helpful, and I appreciate his assistance. Because of Brian’s excellent service, I am updating my review from one star to four stars.

I just got back from Iceland, I was a part of the Iceland Self Guided Tour Group. I loved everything. Considering that travel this past few years has been difficult and changing, I felt that Gate 1 did a great job keeping me informed of all the changes and managing my expectations for the trip. It was my first time booking a trip with them and they have definitely earned a lifetime traveler in me. I have previously traveled with Kontiki and GoAhead Tours, with Gate 1 I feel like I got the best value for my dollar. I also appreciate their customer service officials for being so patient with me. I wholeheartedly recommend this company.

Terrible service! They just want you to book with them. Once you paid them, they do not want to talk to you anymore! My own experience- called them, if you said you want to book a new tour, 20 minute wait on the phone; an existing reset, 3 hour wait if you are lucky not being cut during the wait! Will like to try a different travel agency now, even I have used them many times before! Update: Since I submitted my last review, I had several interceptions with the Gate1 office. I have seen significant improvements and genius effort to improve their customer services. Maybe it is due to manpower shortage, it is still not quite up to the level I used to see. But I think it is only a matter of time, we will see the 5-star travel agency again!

This was our second trip with Gate 1. Both were amazing. This trip we did the 11 day Enchanted Italy trip to Venice, Florence, Rome and Sorrento with stops In Tuscany, Assisi, Pisa and Capri. Our tour manager Flavia was perfect. She was knowledgeable, organized, pleasant, funny and helpful. You can’t go wrong with this trip. Our flight was delayed 6 hours due to weather but when we eventually got to the airport in Venice someone was there to whisk us off to a boat to get to our hotel on the island of Lido. Our group was friendly and seemed to all get along. The food is delicious and plenty of it. Red and white wine kept coming. There is a lot of walking and some places plenty of slopes and steps but the pace is relatively slow and there are breaks in between. But if you aren’t able to walk at least 5 miles a day you might not be happy with a trip like this. We are in our 60’s but we’re able to easily keep up. We will definitely use Gate 1 again. Can’t wait!

Gate 1 Travel: 16 day Italy with 7 day Western Med Cruise My daughter and I enjoyed this vacation booked through Gate 1 Travel this past July, and it was absolutely one of the most enjoyable vacations I have ever had. The booking process was very simplified, as Gate 1 representative customized the trip to add a few extra days in Istanbul, Turkey on our way home, as well as making sure we had the cabin and deck we requested on the cruise and the preferred seats on each flight. The Italy ground tour was fabulous, as the English speaking guide was so knowledgeable and made the day exciting and educational. One of the things I appreciate most about Gate 1 is that the luggage has porter service at each hotel, so we are not struggling with baggage at hotels and buses, and a minimum at airports. The hotels we stayed in were first class, 5-star elegant and the meals provided through the tour were excellent. We also received good recommendation from each local guide of places to go to eat and sight see when we had free time, which helped tremendously in cities we were not familiar with. The Norwegian Epic cruise was nice as well, with stops in France, Spain, and Southern Italy. We had a balcony, which made that portion of our vacation much more enjoyable. This is my second trip with Gate 1, and I have recommended it to many friends and family, as well as I have already booked two more vacation in 2015 with Gate 1 Travel. I look forward to the same excellent customer service and vacation planning I have experience the past two trips.

I booked the 9 Day Classic Italy for my grandson and me. From beginning to end, Gate 1 was organized, helpful and it made our whole trip extremely enjoyable and stress-free. We were picked up at the airport and taken to our hotel. This is always great when you are visiting a new country. We stayed at three different hotels - all of them were different but equally great. Our tour guide Michaela was informative, fun and gave us great advice for our free time. She always gave us tips on where we could find the best deals according to our budget. The places she picked for our included dinners were fun and diverse, one had opera singers and two other places were set in wineries. She was like our "mother" the whole time, she put in wake up calls for us, made sure everyone was where they were supposed to be and reminding us about our cell phones, packages, etc. When she send us off to the airport from Venice in a water taxi, she had some waiting for us on at the airport and she called to make sure we had arrived and were waiting at the correct departure area! The local tour guides were wonderful - Francesco in Rome was particularly fun. He was so knowledgeable and funny - even my grandson was paying attention and learning all about the history of Rome. I will certainly recommend Gate 1 to my friends and family; especially when traveling to a new country where one may have a language barrier. My next stop will be Spain and I am planning on traveling with Gate 1 again.

I just returned from a 13 night trip to Costa Rica. This was my third with Gate 1; and it continued to meet the high standards I experienced on the previous trips. Our tour guide was exceedingly knowledgeable and made the trip most memorable. Compared to tours taken by friends through other companies, this trip provided varied, enjoyable outings and was a learning experience as well as a pleasurable and affordable one. The A hotels were exceptional. Overall the value that Gate 1 affords is terrific. I enjoyed getting to see the country, meet interesting travelers and learn so much about the flora and fauna in Costa Rica. I will be planning another trip with Gate 1 for next year.

10 days Classic Ecuador and Amazon Adventure was my first trip with Gate 1. This was a great experience. Every stage of the trip went perfect and enjoyable. Even the weather was cooperating. My trip was May 29-June 7, most of the time the weather was nice and comfortable with some little rains. Each hotel was great and the next one was even better. I loved the itinerary that included not only site seeing but also historical and cultural highlights as well as interaction with local people and communities. Our tour manager Alfredo Carrera made our tour very special. His amazing knowledge in history and natural science, enthusiasm, kindness, great personality and sense of humour, together with an excellent tour itinerary, made our tour an amazing and unforgettable experience. Our bus driver Luis Acosta was a great driver and very pleasant person, and made our bus rides safe and comfortable. All the personnel working for our tour in Ecuador were very pleasant, very helpful and very well organized. I will definitely consider Gate1 tours for my future travel plans and recommend Gate 1 Travel to my friends.

We have always traveled on our own. This was our first escorted tour. We were not sure if we would like it or not. It was a wonderful experience. Gate 1 was top notch in setting up our trip, even ensuring good seats on all flights. The Tour Manager, Pavel was flawless is coordinating our activities. We were always on time. He was extremely knowledgeable about all things Peru. The other local guides brought in to provide in depth information heightened our experience at each of those locations. We will definitely use Gate 1 in the future. They can be counted on to provide a great trip at a great price!.

My husband and I just returned from and 8 day tour of Ecuador through Gate 1 Travel, and we loved it! The trip far exceeded our expectations. The itinerary, though fast paced, was exciting, the hotels were beautiful and clean, and the optional tours were so much fun. Our tour guide, Wilson, made an already great trip just perfect. He was knowledgeable, available anytime he was needed, and so funny! He made the ride in the bus something we looked forward to. I would highly recommend the guided tours through Gate 1 Travel. We are booking a June 2015 trip to Morocco through them today!

The trip to Croatia/Slovenia with Gate 1 was more than expected for a budget travel company. The itinerary was well planned with enough free time to go out on our own. The tour director was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and kept us well informed. Hotels were fabulous. The optionals were well worth the money. I expect the trip to Peru in January will be every bit as exciting and looking forward to travel with Gate 1. I will recommend Gate 1 for travel.

After detailed review of various travel offers and tour packages offered to us, we decided to take Gate 1 14-day Classic Greece and Istanbul with 6 day Aegean cruise tour. We completed our tour last week and needless to say it was fabulous. This was by far the best tour we have taken. We travel often and once a year we take a long vacation outside the country. We have traveled with various tour companies offering similar tour packages but this was by far the best. We were travelling with one other couple and we all had very good time. The destination, the service on see and land, and tour guides were all very professionally handled. The price was also very affordable. I would recommend Gate 1 travel to anyone without any hesitation. Keep up the good work!

My husband I were able to travel with Gate 1 tour group to Italy. It was a once in a life time experience and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the areas we visited along with the life style of the people. We met new friends which was an added bonus as well. Preparation for the trip was made much easier by the agents who helped reserve our tour. We would recommend Gate 1 to others who are planning a trip.

My husband and I recently used Gate 1 to travel to Columbia. We are experienced travelers and we usually travel solo, but the price for this particular trip was too good to pass up. Our experience with Gate 1 was even better than we anticipated. The hotels were excellent, as were the guides. We were delightfully surprised to find that we enjoyed every person on our tour (and there were 30). Our fellow travelers were curious about the world, interesting, patient and had great senses of humor. The trip was great, but it was on the return home that we found out how excellent Gate 1's customer service really was. Our flight home from Bogota was delayed 6 hours, due to mechanical issues. While the airline (LAN) took care of us, giving us hotel rooms and food for the day, Gate 1 took that a step further. A local representative of Gate 1 showed up at the hotel and offered to take anyone interested to the local botanical gardens. Walking in a beautiful garden with Nadia was much better than hanging out in a hotel. In addition, Gate 1 arranged a private shuttle for us to return to the airport. I was impressed. We'll be using Gate1 again.

My husband and I recently traveled with Gate 1 to Costa Rica and we loved every minute of it. Our tour guide, Gilbert, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. It was very easy to understand him and he took very good care of all the visitors on our trip. I wish we could have him as a tour guide for future trips to other countries! We had upgraded our hotel package and loved every place we stayed in. Costa Rica is a beautiful country and we're so glad we could experience the culture in an authentic way. 13-Day Affordable Turkey Tour -- November 2014 I cannot say enough great things about Gate 1 Travel! This is my second trip with Gate 1 (last year was the 12-Day Essential South Africa Tour, which was also amazing!). Our tour guide, Senol, was both very knowledgeable and accommodating to all 40 people on our tour. Turkey is an amazing country with so much history and wonderful food throughout the country! Just came back from September 2014 Ecuador & Amazon adventure, this is my third time to travel with Gate 1 Travel in two years after May 2013 to Guatemala & May 2014 to Morocco. Can’t help to tell my family and friends how exciting my best trip was when back from the first trip with Gate 1 to Guatemala, surprise to me is I found each trip with Gate 1 is better than previous one. Now I am very confident to recommend Gate 1 to everyone I know when they plan for a trip. The itinerary design are always perfect, the hotel always beyond my expectation, the tour bus always clean and comfortable, don’t mention the tour guide with so much knowledge and information for you. Thanks to Gate 1 travel, during our trip to Ecuador, we enjoyed very special tiny treats such as two scoops of tropical fruits ice cream, a small bag of yucca chips, a lovely tagua nut key chain etc. from tour manager. Everyone in the group really thanks to Gate 1 for its thoughtfulness and start schedule for the next trip together again. Consider Gate 1 Travel is my recommendation to everyone.

Spectacular Tour of Costa Rica My husband and I had been on a tour to Costa Rica in 2014 and returned again in 2015 this time with Gate 1 Travel. The Gate 1 Travel was far superior. The tour guide, Edgardo Hidalgo, was excellent: both knowledgeable, caring, positive and with a great enthusiasm that filled us all. The hotels were excellent. They were in locales where animals such as monkeys and exquisite birds abounded. We paid a stipend for better hotels and they were impressive, but we noticed that the hotels for the others were fine too. The meals were delicious with plentiful food. The daily itinerary was fun and the optional trips were incredible with great photo opportunities. Serendipitously, the people on the tour were all friendly and the group meshed well. I would highly recommend Gate 1 Travel to anyone looking for a good tour company. My husband and I are already planning some new adventures with them. You can't get better praise than that.

The 5 day Northern Lights tour with Gate 1 Travel was a fantastic experience! The hotel was good, the staff was super courteous and helpful, the tour guides were experienced.I had a great time, it was my first solo trip, and i was skeptical at first, but it turned out out to be memorable and exciting. The tours were well planned, flights were on time, and the people with me on the same trip were courteous and nice. This was my first time with Gate 1 Travel and am planning the Peru trip with them soon:)

We recently took a Gate1 tour of Spain visiting Madrid, Granada, Toledo, Seville, and Barcelona. The trip was fabulous, as all of our Gate1 trips have been! The tour guide and the local guides were extremely knowledgeable. We saw and learned so much. The hotels we stayed in were excellent and the buffet breakfasts outstanding. My group of ladies have traveled with Gate1 many times and have never been disappointed. Their tours are always well-planned and well-executed at a very fair price. We will soon book another trip with them for the Fall!

I took the 11 day tour of Croatia and Slovenia in late April and loved it. Peter, the tour guide and Ivan, the bus driver were great. The accommodations were top notch, the countries were incredibly beautiful and the optional excursions were well worth the money. Gate 1 was highly recommended to me by a friend. I recommended Gate 1 to another friend before I took my trip. My friend went on a tour a month before I did and had nothing but good things to say about Gate 1. I've toured with several other tour companies and will be planning my next trip(s) with Gate 1.

Had absolutely no trouble with Gate1 what-so-ever. I purchased a voucher for a trip to Milan via living social, which was booked through Gate1. The process was very smooth, hotel was great, and price for airfare and accommodations was AMAZING. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is that the excursions you can book through them are overpriced. This is the case for many companies and if you're the kind of traveler who wants to pay a premium for ease - you can do that. Next time, however, I would plan my own excursions to save money.

We had an incredible time in Ecuador. Gate 1 is the best tour company. This is our fourth Gate 1 trip and you continue to amaze me. Ecuador was spectacular. Our guide Javier Estrella was the best. I just came back from my first Gate1 tour (8 days & 6 nights in Budapest, Prague, & Vienna) and had an excellent trip. The Gate 1 guide, Derek, made sure everything went smoothly and did a wonderful job of escorting us through all the different cities. The local guides provided good overviews of each city. The hotels we stayed at were well located, and provided good service and accommodations. I am looking forward to my next Gate 1 tour next month (5 days in Iceland).

Our third trip with Gate 1 met all our expectations. We enjoyed the 13 Day Kaleidoscope Guatemala and Honduras trip. Our guide, Estuardo, was very knowledgeable and personable. He always strove to meet all our needs. As always, our hotels were excellent. The tours of the Mayan ruins were amazing. In sites we visited, we were allowed ample time to explore on our own. We have always found Gate 1 Travel to be a good value and would highly recommend them.

Our 14 day Italy tour with Gate 1 was utterly amazing! Everything was so well organized and went smoothly. Our guide, Francesca, was superb and the local guides were outstanding. I cannot believe how much we saw and experienced over two weeks. We had such fun at the group dinners and I cannot wait to go through and develop my almost 2000 photos to relive the memories. My friend and I were very impressed with Gate 1 and are looking forward to the River Cruise we have booked for next September 2015. It is an excellent value for your money.

My husband and I recently returned from our 10 day tour of Costa Rica. It was a wonderful trip in every respect. The country is beautiful and abounding in all the best Mother Nature has to offer in scenery, plants, animals - and the people are wonderful, too. One of the things we always love about Gate 1 tours is how much we learn about the places we visit. This was our first experience with Gate1 Travel and our first bus tour vacation. It was a great experience from beginning to end. From browsing the company's website for tours/vacations, to booking the trip, reviewing the reservation and finishing the planning, to the actual trip itself, not a thing went wrong. The actual trip was terrific from start to finish, and the tour guide and bus driver were knowledgeable and entertaining! The content of the trip was excellent and we saw many great sights. We learned a lot about the area we were touring too, which was nice given there is so much to take in on these trips and it's nice when the tour does all the work for you. The accommodations and meals throughout the tour were excellent as well. Would most definitely use Gate1 Travel again and have already recommended to many friends and co-workers.

Gate 1 Travel exceeded my expectations and I had an amazing time in Costa Rica. I was very pleased with the hotel stays, everything was very clean and comfortable. I thought the hotels were extremely beautiful and had no issues at any of the hotels. I also enjoyed the pace of the guided tour. Never felt overwhelmed and was good to be busy with activities. I extremely liked our tour guide Gilbert, he was the best! I learned so much from him and he had a great personality. I signed up for each of the optional tours and loved each one of them. Lots of fun! This was the first time traveling with Gate 1 Travel and it definitely exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend this company for travel!

My husband and I just completed our third tour with Gate 1 Travel. This time we went to Ireland. Our past tours were to Turkey and Israel. As in our past experiences Gate 1 provided us with a wonderful experience. This began with our travel agent Judith who also helped us with our previous tours. Linda, our guide in Ireland was top notch. She was extremely pleasant, informative, and always helpful. Our bus driver was competent and courteous. The hotels we stayed at were clean, comfortable and in very desirable locations in terms of getting around when we had free time. The food was excellent (several choices were available at each meal). The sites we visited were great and they afforded us a fulfilling opportunity to become familiar with this beautiful country. We will definitely continue to use Gate 1 as our primary touring company

I had a wonderful experience with Gate 1 Travel on my recent 8 Day Greek Classic trip. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about Greece, which added to my appreciation of places we visited. Gate 1 is a truly professional company, from the travel consultant and arranger (Alethea) to the people who are assigned to meet you at the airport, to the bus driver who navigated challenging terrain with ease and care. I have travelled with Gate 1 before (Italy) and knew it was the company I wanted to use for trip. I was not disappointed! I look forward to my next trip, and it will certainly be with Gate 1!

This is a review of the Affordable Spain 10 day tour that we took in Late November and Early December 2014. Our trip was excellent in almost all regards. Our tour leader managed the tour and made sure that everyone (40 people) was accounted for and gave advice for our leisure time in the various cities. We had local tour guides in Madrid, Toledo, Granada, Seville, Cordoba and Barcelona. These local guides were excellent except for the Barcelona guide, who just wanted to get the tour over with. The mix of knowledgeable local tour guides and approximate 1/2 day free time in the various cities led to a comfortable pace for all. You could do as much or as little as you wanted in your free half day. Hotels were generally good, but noise was a factor in some of the hotels. There were three group dinners included with two being very good and one just average. The use of the radio "whispers" made it easy to hear the tour guides even when not next to them enhancing the experience. This was our second Gate 1 tour. We have been satisfied on both of our tours and would recommend Gate 1 to our friends.

I did the 9-day enchanting Italy tour in May 2014 and thoroughly enjoyed my vacation. I traveled with Gate 1 last year and once again they exceeded my expectations. The vacation was well organized down to each detail and our tour manager was amazing. I referred 3 friends...they were thoroughly pleased as well and will be traveling with Gate 1 again. If you truly want a top notch vacation experience at an excellent price, I would highly recommend Gate 1.

We loved our trip with Gate 1 Travel to Croatia, Slovenia and Venice it was the best trip we have experienced. The hotels blew us away, every city kept getting better then the last. I will definitely travel with Gate 1 Travel tours again and again. We are now planning on a River Cruise next May or Sept. 2015 with Gate1Travel with our friends who joined us on this trip. Our tour guide Kristijan was the best we ever had and made us feel like part of a family with all our new and old friends on Bus 1. He is so knowable and funny at the same time making it fun and joyful. We have been traveling all over the world with many tour company's in the past but Gate 1 Travel has exceeded them all. We went to Peru on the 10 Day tour. It was absolutely fabulous. The hotels were great, the logistics were fantastic and each day was a new and wonderful experience. This is our 3rd trip with Gate 1 and we will not use another agency when we want a guided tour. The value received was incredible. There is no way your could do this type of trip on your own for even close to the same price. The beauty of Gate 1 and a guided tour is that all your travel time is spent actually seeing new things. No time spent looking for directions, hotels, resturants, etc. We did Turkey with Gate1 last year and had an equally great experience.

I just got back from a Gate 1 Travel tour of Central Europe and it was amazing. I went by myself, and I always felt safe and well taken care of by the tour guides and my fellow tour group members. Our hotels were always located in desirable areas that were both walking distance to the center of each city and very near to public transportation. Our trip guide and bus driver were phenomenal throughout the trip, and each of my four local guides were very pleasant and knowledgeable. Everything was very well organized, there were absolutely zero problems throughout the whole trip. Gate 1 does all the work and all you need to do is show up on time. I would definitely do another trip with Gate 1 in the future.

We took the Gate 1 9-day Rhine River Cruise from Amsterdam to Basel aboard the Amadeus Princess after finding an amazing price offered on "The Deal." This was our third Gate 1 European river cruise and exactly what we'd looked forward to! The itinerary included beautiful, historically interesting cities and towns and provided just the right balance of activity and opportunity to relax. Before selecting your travel date, it is a good idea to check ahead for national holidays. We did encounter one disappointment when we found ourselves in Cologne on all Saint's day with everything closed but museums and restaurants. The Gate 1 tour guide, Tony, was busily involved with all of us, making sure everyone's interests were served. The other people on the cruise were friendly, and we met a number of people we expect to see again! The personnel and amenities of the Amadeus cruise boat were uniformly excellent, including the food. We love that with even a mid-price Category B cabin on this ship, you get a nice sized room with a French balcony. We had a great time!

My husband and I just returned from the Gate 1 Classic Baltic tour with Poland. It was one of the best tours we have ever had. Well organized, convenient hotels, plenty of advice as to local restaurants, shopping, etc. We did 2 nights in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and then to Poland with a longer stay. This was our first experience with Gate 1 Travel and we were SO impressed. We did the 10 Day Classic Amsterdam to Paris with London. Everything was well organized and ran smoothly. The accommodations were very nice and in great locations. Start times each morning were reasonable and the included tours highlighted each location perfectly. Our tour guide was amazing and knowledgeable. We also immensely enjoyed our local guides in Paris and London. On the advice of a friend, we booked a 13 day trip to Italy with Gate1. It was our first experience with a group tour where we knew no one. From the very beginning, we felt welcomed and part of the group. Our tour guide, Johnny, was excellent! He was very organized and very calm, outwardly at least! The accommodations were terrific - how can you beat a hotel right on the Grand Canal in Venice!! Johnny always got us to the front of the entrance lines so we had very little wait time to get into the popular sites. The local guides were also very knowledgeable. There was so much packed into those 13 days but it didn't feel grueling. We really feel that the trip could not have been better! We look forward to traveling with Gate1 again!

My mother and I recently took a 10 day tour of Ireland with Gate 1. Mom had always travelled with a more expensive company and was reserving her opinion until after the tour was over. We had a marvelous experience! Our bags were checked all the way through to Dublin so we didn't need to deal with them in Chicago. The same was true when we returned. We were greeted at the airport by a delightful driver. Our tour guide was a darling woman with a great deal of knowledge about every location we visited. Her recommendations were spot on for how to best use our time at any given place. Ironically, the other tour group was at every hotel and every site that we were at! My wife and I just got back from 11 day Croatia/Slovenia in March this year. We have joined 11 Gate 1 tours to three continents (Europe, Asia and South Africa) since 2012. They were all outstanding and the tour guides were excellent and very knowledgeable. We are going to see Greece with Gate 1 again in May 2015. We did travel with other well known tour companies too but found Gate 1 to be superior in its price, itinerary, hotels and especially service. Gate 1 is the only company that makes flexible arrangements for starting and ending the trips. We are seniors and feel comfortable that there is always a Gate 1 representative to receive us at the airport upon arrival and get us to the airport any time, even 2 am in the morning or 11pm at night. We trust Gate 1 because we know we are always in good hands in a foreign country. We recommend it most highly to anybody who wants to travel.

My son, daughter-in-law and myself went on the Gate 1 Travel 8-Day Affordable Italy tour. We could not have been happier. EVERYTHING was wonderful. Litizia, our tour manager was always on top of things, was very knowledgeable and always made herself available around-the-clock if anyone needed her for anything. She made the trip so enjoyable and humorous. All the tour guides were wonderful as well (Peter, Marco and a wonderful woman in Florence. I really apologize for not remembering her name. Just completed the 9 day Central Thailand with River Kwai. This is my third adventure with Gate 1 Travel and am glad to see that their standards still remain at the highest level possible. Our tour guide Ellen was superb and kept us well informed about the sights we saw as well as interesting facts about Thailand. The hotels were excellent, with all being clean and comfortable. The tour bus was kept clean at all times and the bus driver was a true professional. All of the provided meals were of the highest quality. I have looked into other tour agencies and have found none that offer the quality of Gate 1 at such an affordable price. After the tour was completed I extended my stay by four days and Ellen also helped out with travel arrangements and provided valuable suggestions on what I should see and do. 10 of our friends recently completed a 12-day European river cruise from Prague to Budapest, and found the Gate 1 tour to be well organized and great value for the money. Our tour managers were friendly & organized, and local guides were knowledgeable and informative. While the ship's amenities/entertainment were not comparable (and we should not expect it to be) to an ocean cruise ship, this was more than made up by the friendly staff and excellent food on board. I recently went on a trip with Gate 1 to Greece and they did such an amazing job! Our tour guide Elena was so sweet and full of information about all the sites. They made our trip so enjoyable because of all it included. I almost feel like I underpaid because of the hotels I stayed in and all the things the tour included. When me and my friend lost our passports and money, the bus driver took a taxi with us to the site to help us find it and then refused tip money I offered him. I cannot express how great they made the trip and I will be booking more with them.

This was my first trip to Europe and my first trip with Gate 1. We did the 9 day Classic Ireland and it was absolutely problem-free from beginning to end. Our tour guide was an absolute delight and the bus driver did an excellent job. I needed to have some specific travel arrangements made for another party that was traveling with us although leaving from a different part of the states. The Gate 1 representative scheduled everything for us so that we all met up at a central airport in the states to fly out to Ireland together. All of the documentation that I received ahead of time was very clear and easy to understand, including information about gratuities which was really helpful! We all loved the trip and would definitely travel with Gate 1 again!!!

My wife and I recently returned from a Gate 1 10 day tour of France, which included Paris, the Loire valley, the Normandy area and D-Day beaches, and back to Paris. The trip was fantastic. This was our first experience with Gate 1 and we were very impressed with their organization, getting all the details exact, timeliness to schedule, staying at quality hotels, and providing us a wealth of information during the various tours we took. Our main tour guide, Nino, was very experienced, possessed a wealth of knowledge and facts, and thus made our experience much more enriching. Although the weather wasn't the best, nevertheless we had a wonderful trip. We will definitely be looking for other Gate 1 trips to go on.

I have traveled with this company 3 times now! I love this company! The tour guides are great and let you know the culture and history of the country you visit! I traveled with them to Peru ,China, Egypt. Each one was amazing. The guides are very helpful personal and the last day has been so sad. Gate 1 does a wonderful job on who they hire as a guide. Just returned (10/30) from the 12 day Classic South Africa tour and I loved it! This was my first trip with Gate 1 and it exceeded my expectations. The booking process was professionally handled by Katie C. and all questions were answered promptly. Our tour leader, Shaun Bartnick was funny, professional, kind and overall exceptional. His wealth of knowledge about South Africa's history and culture was amazing. The local guides were also great. I especially enjoyed a trip we made to an orphanage, made possible through the Gate 1 Foundation. - I was very pleased to learn that Gate 1 encourages travelers to "discover, learn and give a little in return". Kudos to Gate 1 for recognizing that helping the indigenous people is an important aspect of travel. This was my first vacation with Gate 1 but I am sure it will not be my last.

They knew so much about the area that we cannot learn from a book. Yellowstone was a highlight and for that we had an additional guide who was a gem. We purchased our 9 Day Classic Italy through Groupon. My daughter and I are very satisfied with Gate1's service. We had very good local tour guide for each city. The hotels were good and all 4 stars. We were well briefed about what type of accommodation to expect from each hotel. The meals and tours at the wineries were excellent. The visits to the galleries and museums were well-organized. We loved the storybook town on Assisi. I'm so glad we purchased the optional tour to the Uffizi Gallery. It was so worth it. We also purchased the optional tour of the Piazzas. It was convenient but we could have done that on our own. I have recommended Gate1 to friends and family. We are already looking at which Gate1 tour we will be doing next year :)

We went on their 15 Day Classic Spain & Portugal (with a one day visit to Morocco) tour. Our guide Phillipe was the best. He took care of every detail, and was available 24/7. There was not one disappointment; i.e., buses were always on time, every tour and all connections were super. He was most pleasant and accommodating. He is surely an asset to Gate 1 Travel. My husband and I had a wonderful trip visiting Thailand and Cambodia (15 days). That was our first experience traveling with the group and everything was above our expectation. Starting with very easy booking process online, perfect flight connection (just one stop for 1,5 hour in Tokyo), choice of hotels and trip itinerary . Gate 1 takes you places of the beaten track-we visited local school, had dinner at the Thai family home, got a ride on an ox-cart and visited floating fishing villages. I just came back from an independent trip to Paris & London booked with Gate 1 Travel and I have to say that as a travel agency, Gate 1 exceeded my expectations. First, just knowing that I have the flexibility to book my vacation and pay for it as I can is one of the best features of Gate 1 Travel. Add to that the fact that besides the air travel, I get to choose various hotel options, include tours, transportation shuttle and travel insurance as well. Last year I used Gate 1 for an escorted tour to Italy and was very happy with the results. This year, I decided to book with them again but as an independent traveler. I was a bit worried since Gate 1 would only book my trip. I thought maybe they would not give me the personal attention as with an escorted tour but I was wrong. The airline reservations and the hotel accommodations, as well as, the shuttles to and from the hotel and airport, were all handled very well. Just when I thought that Gate 1 was done with us they surprised us again. We had a connecting flight to London from Paris through Air France. In the midst of the Air France strike, Gate 1 made sure to accommodate us in another flight with no problems on our behalf. Gate 1 made sure that I was aware of the change by voice mail, email and hotel voice message as well. I did not even notice that there was a strike but Gate 1 Travel made sure that our trip was a wonderful one. I am definitely going to continue to book my trips through Gate 1 Travel.

“This is what dreams are made of!” My husband and I and our two best friends recently returned from the fabulous 19 Day Eastern European Trip (7 Day Danube River Cruise with additional stops in Warsaw, Krakow, Budapest, Prague, Dresden & Berlin) with Gate 1 Travel. It’s hard to sum up in a few words what was one of our greatest trips ever. But I must start with our Gate 1 Travel tour itself! From the first day we booked our trip until the last day we said goodbye to our Tour Director, we felt that all of our needs were met by their professional and caring staff. Their travel agents were always patient with us for all of our booking needs and questions. During the tour, our Tour Director, Adrienne Kiss, was likewise patient with every one of our questions, comments and photo stops. In addition, she was professional, informative, enthusiastic, caring and devoted from the first day of our trip to the last day. Saying goodbye to her was like saying good bye to an old friend. This tour was a combination land tour and Danube River Cruise so we had the best of both travel worlds. It was a whirlwind tour with only 1 - 2 day stops in each city. Between the informed overview we received from our Tour Director and the in-depth tour we received from our Local Guides, we got just enough flavor of each city to feel that we saw each destination in a very thorough manner. The itinerary was fast paced but balanced with free time so that we did not feel rushed or that we had missed something. Our hotels were all top notch, comfortable and conveniently located within their respective cities. It was an added bonus that we and our fellow travelers had like-minded travel interests and we formed some lasting friendships. Finally, we had put off going on a European vacation for years because we believed it astronomically expensive. With Gate 1 we were able to make our European travel dream come true. It was an exceptional trip with exceptional value. We are looking forward to our next Gate 1 vacation.

Just returned from the Gate1 10 Day Classic Costa Rica with Manuel Antonio. Great trip, wonderfully run. By the time we cleared customs a Gate1 representative had already collected our luggage. After an uneventful flight on Delta and KLM to Milan, we took the Gate 1 supplied ground transportation to Como, Italy. Later that night we met with our tour guide Daniela at the hotel. She is an excellent and engaging tour guide but then we expected no less from Gate 1 as our other 3 tour guides were also excellent. For the next 14 days on our tour of Italy, we saw and experienced the beautiful and romantic country and it's people. Our hotels were perfectly located in the cities we visited and the meals provided during our tour were good. This was the perfect tour to experience the highlights of the country. Everything worked out as intended. We highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience Italy and it's culture.

We recently went on the Gate 1 Kaleidoscope tour of Ecuador. It was a fantastic way to experience the country for the first time. We had a wonderful guide, Wilson, and great hotels. We also had a terrific group of fellow travelers. I was surprised that, in a few short days, total strangers became friends. This was our first trip to Central America, but definitely not our last. We enjoyed the beauty of the flowers, the rain forest, and the countryside. Everyone we met was kind and gracious. We already miss the phenomenal ceviche, trout, and plantains! We don't usually travel with bus tours. But this trip may have changed our minds. It was relaxing to turn the driving over to a professional (who navigated mountain roads with amazing skill!) I just got back from a trip to Spain and cruise that I booked through Gate1. I have to say it was one of the best vacations I've ever had. The hotel in Barcelona was clean and very central, it was easy to get around from there as there is a Metro station right outside. The bus Gate1 arranged to take us from the hotel to the port was on time, the driver was very professional in appearance and demeanor. The cruise itself was so much fun! Also I'm very impressed with the airlines Gate1 booked for our flights. And everything was so much more affordable than if I had tried to cobble it together myself. I will definitely book more travel through Gate1 and I'm telling my friends how great they are.

He suggested restaurants, shopping, etc. Hotel selections were topnotch - located in areas that gave us a chance to see the cities without the feeling we were going to get lost. And the staff at each hotel were so very accommodating. All of this added up to be an excellent - "13 Day Classic - Brazil, Argentina and Chile". We would probably call it "13 Days of Bliss in South America". We would not only recommend this tour to others, but also Gate 1 Travel.

We recently returned from a trip to Spain and Portugal organized and proved by Gate 1 Travel. We reviewed all our photos we thank Gate 1 Travel for wonderful memories. The trip was superbly planned and organized and executed on location by a highly experienced tour director, Daniel Revero. We had no issues with the choice of hotels and the meals provided. The sites to visit were not to be missed and despite their spread out locations we always had sufficient time to rest, mostly with 2 to 3 nights at the same hotels. The brake-up of the group in smaller groups for site visits gave the tour guides better control and for us a more efficient visit, as the sites were teeming with other tourists which was to be expected for Spain and Portugal, once great empires with lots of history. My girlfriend and I just came back from the 15 day Kaleidoscope of Central Europe Tour. It was the best tour I have been on. Seeing 6 countries and learning their history was very informative. The hotels were great, sites we saw were incredible and the best was our tour guide Michael Paier. He was so knowledgeable regarding the history of all the places we saw. He made the trip fun and went out of his way to see that we were all happy and taken care of. Our bus driver Albert made us feel very safe with his driving the bus. I would recommend this tour to anyone that wants to learn the history of Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, and Germany. Made me want to get a history book and learn more. This summer we've booked 8 day Classic National Parks, Mt.Rushmore, Yellowstone & Grand Teton tour with Gate 1 from June 14 to June 21, 2014. It was our first tour with Gate 1 and it was a wonderful experience. We had an excellent tour director Rick Williams and the best driver we ever meet - Paul. Everything was perfectly organized and presented. We stayed in good hotels, and all of them were very conveniently located. Our group was relatively small. The bus was very clean and comfortable. We realized that others, more expensive tour companies such as Globus, Cosmos or Trafalgar followed the same routes, and their tourists mostly stayed in the same hotels. Most of the people in our group traveled with the Gate 1 several times, and they told us they were very satisfied with the price and services on each tour. We are definitely looking forward to travel with Gate 1 on our future trips.

The trip to Croatia was excellent, Gate 1 Travel was very professional in arranging and providing trip details/information. The tour director was very knowledgeable and friendly. Great price as well that was hard to match from other travel companies. A great example of the Gate 1 service was the airline we were originally booked to was on strike, the team at the agency quickly switched our ticket at no charge to a different airline within a few hours. 11 Day Italian Romantic Tour was fantastic. With Fabio as our tour guide, he added all of his Italian knowledge and insight to this tour. Starting at Lake Como and seeing the country as we traveled to Milan, Venice, Florence and finally to Rome. Gate 1 does an excellent job with quality hotels very close to the main attractions. we felt safe at night in these neighborhoods during the day and early evening. Their selection of local guides were very good, the group meals were all wonderful. Food was abundant at every meal, and was a variety and sample of Italian cuisine. Wine servings with the meal were all excellent varietals. Gate 1 does an excellent job of offering optional tours and ample leisure time for personal shopping and sight seeing. With the headset, we were able to view the sights without needing to be right under the guide speaking. Gate 1 arrangements keep you in the "happy line" which eliminates waits at all the major venues and was definitely a perk of the trip. We would definitely recommend this tour and Gate 1 to anybody considering a trip to Italy.

Just returned from Danbue River cruise with Prague & Budapest extra days visits. Another great trip with Gate 1. Our tour guide Nora was first class with a lot of information. Really appreciate the upgrade to a suite cabin on the river boat. Hotels were 4-5 stars. Prague Art Deco Imperial Hotel to start the trip was really a great experience. On our many trips with Gate 1 we have stayed in many first class hotels. Had a great group of traveling companions who always were on time to the bus and very friendly. As usually we will continue to recommend Gate 1 as a first class travel company to our friends and continue to book future trips for ourselves.

I just took the 8 Day Affordable Central Europe tour over Thanksgiving holiday. This was my 2nd time touring with Gate 1 Travel, and it was again another great experience. The tour booking was a breeze. I needed to add one day prior and one day after the tour, and this was done over the phone with an agent effortless and flawless. The tour value was right. The hotels were decent. Actually the hotels in Vienna and Prague were quite nice, but the Mercure in Budapest was a little disappointed, both the hotel room and the food quality. (I had previously stayed at Mercure in Paris with another Gate 1 tour, and it was much better, exceeded my expectation.) Our tour Manager, bus driver, local tour guides are all very professional, knowledgeable, caring and friendly. Dean, our tour Manager was terrific. He went above and beyond to help us all in any way he could. I particularly like the pace of Gate 1 tours as they usually cover all the sites that everyone wants to visit, and then also give you enough free time to explore things in depth on your own. My friend Barbara and I returned recently from a glorious tour of Croatia/Slovenia with Gate 1. The 11-day trip exceeded our expectations. We stayed in 4-Star hotels in each city, had a wonderful tour guide, Jon, who spoke excellent English, was knowledgeable of the different country's history and was very patient with all of us. We rode from town to town on a modern tour bus with an excellent driver. Delicious breakfasts were provided each day as well as several lunches and dinners. The weather was ideal and warmer than normal, so we were able to enjoy the marvelous sights that each city, including Split, Dubrovnik, Zagreb and Bled provided. This was second tour with Gate 1 Travel, and I will gladly recommend them to my friends and family for their excellence in handling the reservations and removing much of the stress of traveling.

Our River cruise in Russia was better than we expected. The guides were very informative and spoke English very well. We had ear pieces which made hearing the information very easy. The cruise director was always available with all the information we needed and really kept on top of things. The tours gave us good examples of palaces, churches and museums. I find the hotels more than adequate (although sometimes they are far from the tourist sights), the guides very helpful and knowledgeable, and the prices very competitive. I recently returned from my second Gate 1 trip (August 7 through 15). I chose an escorted people-to-people tour to Cuba; it was absolutely wonderful. This was a small group tour (Discovery Tours by Gate 1) – we had a total of twelve people if you include our Gate 1 guide, our local guide, and our driver. The guides, Ernesto and Nilda, were fantastic - friendly and knowledgeable; the hotels and restaurants were excellent; and the activities were well planned, interesting, and a lot of fun. There was not much leisure time, but I understand that is how these people-to-people tours are designed. Once again, Gate 1 Travel provided a combination of good quality and value. I highly recommend this company and will definitely travel with them again.

This was the most amazing vacation I've ever taken! Period! I booked a trip to Costa Rica vacation the week prior to my departure and I didn't have to worry about a thing. Gate 1 took care of everything to perfection. From the moment I stepped off of the plane and began my interactions with the Gate 1 representatives I was happy. The shuttle driver was extremely kind and pointed out many of the great tourist attractions of San Jose on our way to the hotel. This was especially helpful since I was arriving prior to the rest of the group for the tour and I didn't have time prior to really research anything about the area. The next day when my tour guide Ricardo arrived he was extremely kind, organized and knowledgeable. He was great at getting the group introduced to one another before we began our adventures. This was especially helpful to me as I was traveling alone and didn't know anyone else on the tour. I think the mixer was a great starting point and Ricardo set a tone as he stated "for the next 7 days we are all family" and from that moment forward everyone was super kind and open to one another. Although i was traveling alone I was invited to be a part of all of the different groups traveling on the tour and I think I spent time with almost everyone. Each hotel, tour and location exceeded my expectations for the tour. The experiences that I had on my tour far exceeded anything I have ever done or could have imagined. From repelling from a 200 foot waterfall, zip lining for 3200 feet above the rain forest, spotting sloths, vipers and white faced monkeys in the trees, hearing a howler monkey in the jungle, seeing the black sanded beaches of Puntarenas, climbing over volcanic rocks, sampling the fresh cacao for the first time or sleeping in the clouds - the experience was just beyond words. I wasn't sure how I would feel about an escorted tour and travelling solo before the trip but now I am singing the praises of Gate 1 to whoever will listen. I'm excited to book my next escorted vacation through Gate 1 as it's clearly the best way to travel. This was an amazing experience and again this was the best vacation of my life.

France is the fifth trip my wife and I have taken with Gate 1: Greek Islands, 2 river trips, Italy and now France. Each trip has been fantastic! I love that you stay in wonderful hotels near the most interesting sites. In Avignon, we literally stayed next to the Papal Palace. Our tour guide Clare was the best. Not only was she extremely organized, knowledgeable & friendly, she went out of her way to provide sites to see during our free-time, and handled several emergencies for tour members extremely well. Approx. a week ago, we got back from Thailand-Cambodia-Dubai Tour. We were group of 12 people. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. We booked the South Africa Cape Town to Victoria Falls tour with Gate 1 Tours. It was excellent value, included your flights, hotels, most meals, all transportation plus your guide. The trip was excellent and first class all the way. My husband is a seasoned traveler - so I was concerned with the hotels. He was very impressed. The weather is cold in July - so be sure to bring warm outfits. It was SAFE provided you take the advise of the guides and the hotel staff. There is no way you could see on your own what this tour offers in the same amount of time...or for the same price. The borders can be stressful on your own. With Gate 1 crossing the borders was well organized and efficient. Ensure you research your vaccines prior - as you will need to get some well in advance of travel. The visas are taken care of by the tour company as you travel between countries - not required prior to leaving for Africa. They are a very reputable company in my opinion and we will travel with them again. I highly recommend their tour company! The Schulthies

My sister and I just returned from an 11-day Scandinavia trip with Gate1 Travel. We had a wonderful experience visiting Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The scenery was breathtaking. The cities were charming. There was a perfect balance between organized tours and free time. Our guide, Marie, was energetic, patient, understanding and kind. She made the trip even more fun. We felt very safe with our bus driver on the hairpin mountain roads as well as in city traffic. The flight to and from Scandinavia on Delta was comfortable. The included tours gave a highlighted each location perfectly, there were leisure time in each city we stayed, that allow us to explore the city on our own pace or we can join an optional tour with great value. This is my 6th Gate1 tour and they've all been great! We did the 8 day enchanting Italy tour with Allessandro as our guide. He was super friendly, knowledgeable and just overall fantastic. All the hotels on the trip were at the best locations possible with all the major sites only a few blocks away. The Gondola ride optional tour was amazing! The Piazzas of Rome tour was nice but the guide really rushed us through. But overall for the price and what all we got to see just a great deal! I'll definitely go on another tour with them in the future.

We took a huge risk and used Gate 1 Travel for our Wedding/Honeymoon trip to Europe. We were looking for affordable ways to pull off a wedding in Paris and a honeymoon in Mallorca, Spain. I have taken 6 tours with Gate1 and always come away amazed at how incredibly complete, well organized and reasonably priced each one turns out to be. The itineraries always include some local flavor and ensure that your knowledge of the places you visit goes well beyond any travel guide book. I have found that the caliber of tour managers is always beyond my expectations with typically more than 10 years of experience and education to deliver excellent presentation and information. My recent tour to Ecuador and Peru was made really special because of the skills of our tour managers Carlos (Ecuador) and Odon (Peru) due to their intense first hand knowledge of the country but also the deep history of these great destinations. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the 12 day Greece and Greek Isles tour. September weather was perfect for visiting, and the Greek people were very gracious to visitors. The places we visited were well maintained. There was no obvious evidence of the economic downturn reported for the country. Our trip combined four nights on a ship for island hopping, with the other nights at mainland hotels. This was our third trip with Gate 1. As in the past, the accommodations were very nice, and the guides very knowledgeable.I have already booked another trip with Gate 1 to visit Amsterdam in April.

October was the perfect time for Spain, Portugal and Morocco with Gate1 Travel The weather was perfect, well maybe a shower or two, but every thing the Gate1 team had control of was perfect. Our guide and driver worked together to make sure our time was well spent. Cilia was one of the most efficient and conscientious individual and guides I have ever met. Our hotels were so well located that walking to attraction was a breeze or if more distant destinations were desired, the subway was easily accessible. The itinerary was well planned. Went to Costa Rica for seven days over Thanksgiving 2014 with Gate 1 Travel. Perfect combination of nature, fun, interesting accommodations, along with a feeling of safety and attention by the guide. Gate 1 allows you to do everything, or just a few things - your choice. The same setup on meals. There is freedom at the bus stops to see the village church, eat locally by yourself, and talk to the locals. This was my fourth trip with Gate 1 and I love not being over-scheduled. We just came back from the Turkey Discovery Tour offered by Gate1. The trip was fantastic. It is indeed an eye-opening trip. We had an extremely experienced tour manager. My husband and I went on the 7 day Peru trip (Miami Special) for our honeymoon. The tour managers, hotel staff, drivers and guides were all so friendly and helpful. When our flight with Avianca was delayed by several hours, our tour manager got us a seat upgrade to business class. The hotels we stayed at were very nice, clean and well situated. The buses were clean and thankfully airconditioned. I honestly don't think there is anything our Gate 1 crew could have done to make this trip better. We went to Cambodia any Vietnam with Gate 1 Travel last month. We had an excellent trip. Tour guides were very efficient , friendly and knowledgeable. Along with the tour group and tour guide we all stayed more than 2 weeks like a family. In Vietnam one of our companion left his big back along with camera and wallet in the taxi. Taxi driver later came to the hotel and returned his bag, and he was overwhelmed. Gate 1 arranged our tour , hotel and flights, all very efficiently. As soon as my vacation is approved. Our GATE1 experience on the recent 11 day-Guatemala/Honduras tour was quite good. Our guide, Tony, was informative and affable. The locations were varied and interesting. All the hotels were clean and the staff members at each place were friendly and helpful. We spent a lot of time on the bus a couple of days; those could have been broken up into smaller pieces, but the end results were fine. More time in Antigua would have been a nice treat. All-in-all: a good experience.

We have just returned from our third Gate 1 tour, this latest was Thailand. What an awesome country. Gate 1 was very efficient from our first contact with them until we arrived at the airport in Bankok ready to board our flight home. The flights, bus transportation, hotel accommodation and the provided meals are all more than satisfactory. The tour guides are all very good. They are very interesting to listen to as they are so knowledgeable and love to share their country with you. And on our last tour, Mike was always full of little surprises that were a delight to all of us. These little surprises were definitely things we will remember forever thank you Mike. Many of the other members of all three of our experiences with Gate 1 have travelled previously with gate 1 and are very happy with them. We are already planning our next tour with them.

Traveled to Cuba with Gate 1 on their People to People tour this past Christmas. It was one of the best trips. The tour guide Daniel was amazing. He was organized, friendly and very patient. Our local tour guide Ramiro was very knowledgeable of Cuba past and present with a good sense of humor. We had many interactions with Cubans from chefs and restaurant owners, to people in a nursing home, children in an after school center, artists, musicians and more. In addition my husband and I walked the streets of Havana on our own. People were friendly and were very interested in life in the United States. On the tour we had many excellent meals that represented the best of the Cuban cuisine. And some really great pizza from a local restaurant in Havana where the Cuban cook and an Italian cook worked together. Our days were filled with activities and all our many questions were answered. On New Year's Eve our tour guide, Daniel and some in our group went to a restaurant in Old Havana Square to bring in the New Year. We enjoyed a show and smoked Cuban cigars!! If you have the opportunity this is a trip that should no be missed.

I got back in the States on May 15, 2014 from the 11-day London, Paris and Rome Trip and it was one of the best experiences of my life. As independent travelers and our first Europe trip, we had zero issues with Gate 1 Travel's customer service and we were amazed at how easy and forthcoming everything was. Additionally when we had flight delays (which was of no fault to Gate 1), a quick call to Gate 1 advising them of our delay was all that was needed to ensure our airport transfer was aware of our delay. All transfers were on time and even early every pickup. Every vehicle was clean and knew exactly what to do and where to go. My daughters and I recently traveled to Greece, including the Classical Greece tour, with Gate 1. The hotels and food were amazing! Our tour guide, Eugenia, was lively and incredibly knowledgeable about the geography, history, architecture, and art all over the country. We enjoyed little "extras" like wine and olive oil tasting, explanations of Byzantine iconic art, and Greek music and dancing. It was so nice to have all the major details worked out by someone else. After I retired I discovered that my travel companion had decided to go back to school, and I was ready to go places. I found a trip to Ecuador through Gate 1 and decided to try a solo trip. This is our second tour with Gate 1. We just returned from a 10-day tour from Peru. It was truly amazing. The tour was very well organized and the tour guide took good care of all the members on the tour, especially those of us suffered from high altitude sickness. Even though there were only 25 people on our tour, Gate 1 provided us with a 50+ passenger bus for the very long bus ride from Cusco to Lake Titicaca... very considerate. My husband and I took a Gate 1 trip to Costa Rica less than a month ago and we loved it. We went to the Arenal Volcano, Montverde, Manual Antonio, and San Jose. Our tour guide Jose was excellent and we learned so much about the culture and history of Costa Rica. Our tour was a total of 10 days and everything from the food, to the accommodations were great. We would recommend Gate 1 tours if you are planning to go overseas and are unsure about venturing out on your own. They will educate you and give you the confidence to explore on your own. They do a great job in assisting their customers in planning their trips, have an excellent online site and offer mutiple flights and airlines for their trips at the time of booking. On advice from a friend, I booked a trip this past July with Gate 1 to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. With the cost of the trip I was expecting a lot less than what I received and that was a pleasant surprise. The accommodations were all above average and well located. Our fellow travelers were most enjoyable and I was glad to see a wide range of ages and experiences in the group. Our Venice guide, Joia, went out of her way to make our Venice stay memorable.

Our July 2014 12 days classic Vietnam trip was wonderful, Gate 1 really nailed it. We loved every bit of it; our Tour manager Tho was excellent. He really worked hard to make sure every little detail of the tour went smoothly. Which left us no worries at all but to just enjoy every minute of our time in Vietnam. I've spoken to other group members individually, and everyone seems very happy as well. All in all, we really loved it. Hope to rejoin Gate 1 for our next trip.

My trip to Peru in August, 2014 was my first experience with Gate 1 Travel but it will certainly not be my last. I like to think that I'm reasonably well travelled, having been on 13 other escorted and independent tours over the past 25 years. I think I have a pretty good idea what an efficient and successful tour company needs to do to keep my business and Gate 1 far exceeded my expectations. From the ease-of-use website, instant quotes on airfares, their travel advisories, instructional materials and many other before-journey preparation were all outstanding. While I tour, I was very pleased to see how well prepared they were for our rather large group of 41 (split early on in to two groups). The choice of hotels in all three cities we visited (Lima, Cusco, Machu Picchu) were all excellent, clean and well maintained. Our tour guide, Eddy, was also first-rate. He was a walking, talking historian and had in-depth knowledge of every area we visited. Gate 1 is also a fantastic bargain. Other travel companies (big and small) couldn't even come close to the price I paid for this seven-day journey. Friends that have been on other Gate 1 tours had told me the same thing. I will definitely use Gate 1 Travel again. Now that I'm retired, I already have a number of tours I'm considering for the near future - their variety is also very amazing.

My husband and I have used Gate 1 Travel for two recent trips and loved it! We bought their packages through Groupon. We were a little hesitant at first to try the Groupon Getawats at first, but after a recommendation from friends we decided to try it. The first trip was a road trip through Ireland staying in old castles. Amazing! We loved that they did all the planning for us and emailed us an itinerary. We literally just showed up, no planning necessary. It was great! The second trip was for a trip to Bangkok. Again, Gate 1 was great to work with and even helped us change our trip dates (although we did have to pay a fee, but I felt it was understandable.) The only thing I wish we would have included in our itinerary for Thailand was more cities than just the 1 stay in Bangkok. But, that's more of an issue with us deciding our travel preferences than anything Gate 1 did wrong. Overall, I highly recommend using them and will definitely travel with them again!

We returned from a Gate 1 trip to Israel about a week ago. It was our third tour with Gate 1 in about a year and a half...seeing a trend here? We have travelled with other companies, but I think we have found Gate 1 to be the cream of the crop. Our guide, Shmulik, was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and, at times, hilarious. We were overwhelmed by how little we actually knew about this beautiful country and its history. The group numbered about 20 and was the most pleasant group we have ever been with. From the hotels to the scenery and history, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We're planning another trip this Fall.

The 11 day Crown of Spain tour was our first travel experience with Gate 1 as well as our first escorted tour and it exceeded our expectations. We've done a lot of independent traveling and cruising, so we were were concerned about spending a lot of time on a bus and having to get luggage out the door early in the morning. With 41 in our tour group, several seats had been removed, providing more leg room, and Gate 1’s policy of rotating seat assignments daily was a real plus. Our Tour Director, Piotr Piastra, was outstanding; knowledgeable, unflappable and sensitive to the needs of travelers with health or mobility issues. He greatly enriched the trip. Local guides all were knowledgeable with “pride of place,” and one (Isabel Maria Martin-Ruiz) made Cordoba and its Great Mosque the highlight of our tour. Carlos, our bus driver, was unfailingly polite and helpful to his passengers. We look forward to our next Gate 1 experience. For quality and value, Gate 1 ranks #1 in our opinion.

I recently returned from an 8-day tour of Morocco. We have been on several guided tours, and Ibrahim (our Moroccan tour manager) was tops! He genuinely cared for all of his guests, as I would consider us, and he made sure that we were enjoying ourselves throughout the week. I felt more connected to my fellow travelers - including Ibrahim - on this trip than any group tour I've taken in the past. The people were spectacular, and I would love to go on another trip with them. We were a team, and it made the experience of seeing Morocco together that much more special. I know it was a random selection of people, but I give credit to Gate1 for appealing to such lovely customers. And definitely for employing such talented guides. Thank you for a memorable experience, and we plan to be back for more!

We just got back from our 7 Day Classic Peru our with Gate 1 Travel and it was FANTASTIC. Totally exceeded our expectations. This was our first time ever on a group tour (we usually travel and plan on our own trips) and we were truly impressed. Our tour manager Mauricio was excellent, very professional and knowledgeable. I could not have asked for more (except we should have done the 10 day trip :-) which takes you to lake Titicaca). It is nice to know that Gate-1-travel uses professional, college trained, educated tour guides. We were also very moved with the outreach Gate-1-foundation gives to rural schools. It was a beautiful experience to interact with the children and their teacher, and to be able to help them with school supplies and clothes. I thank Gate-1 travel for helping these children and for allowing us to participate. Every single moment and experience of this trip was perfect, especially Machu Picchu, of course... We particularly loved our first hotel in the Sacred Valley: Inkallpa Valle Sagrado Hotel, Urubamba. It was so peaceful and picturesque and very in tune with nature. We used the spa the first day (great couples deal) since it was a bit rainy and we didn't have much time to go and explore before our greeting dinner. Throughout the trip, all the included and optional meals were very good, but it was particularly moving to have joined the optional dinner at a local family's house. They were so welcoming and nice. In Cusco our hotel was well situated, just about 15 min walk to the Plaza de Armas, or a 5 min cab ride (which should not cost you more than 5 soles, always negotiate before getting in). It is nice that Gate 1 gives you options to take additional tours or just take a leisure day to explore on your own. On one of our leisure mornings we visited the Inca Museum where we saw the inca mommies (very informative) and had lunch at MAP cafe which was amazing. Thanks again Gate 1 for such a great and affordable trip.

I recently returned from the 15 Day Croatia, Bosnia, Slovenia with Venice tour and would highly recommend it. Our tour was handled by Kompass Travel and was managed very well. Our tour manager, Rozle and our driver Miro were excellent. As with any trip that visits a number of different countries, we did spend time on a motor coach and changed hotels but this allowed us to see a great deal of the region in a small amount of time. The optional tours that were available were a nice addition. The hotels were very good and in locations that allowed for exploration on your own when you had free time. The multi-country tours that Gate 1 offers are a great value for your travel budget.

We traveled to China with Gate1, this was not our first trip with Gate1. As usual, the trip was organized extremely well, the personnel was very helpful and knowledgeable, the itinerary was very interesting. We liked China for its blend of modern and ancient, one thing that could be improved on would be to spend more time in Shanghai. On the included river cruise on the Yangtze the service was exceptional but the boat itself could be use renovations. Our reservation was made through a travel agent and the trip back was not disclosed to us in details until we got the travel documents. It ended up being a 2-stop flight and it took us almost 27 hours to get back home.

Recently returned from a 13-Day Classic Thailand with Gate 1. The trip was absolutely amazing! Our tour guide Chai was so informative, had a great personality, and made our trip really memorable. The amount of things you are able to do and places we went to, were places we would have never found on my own! All in all, it was a fun filled trip, the organization was incredible, the quality of the hotels was excellent, and again, Chai was superb. He really did a phenomenal job and was an encyclopedia of information. I would highly recommend Gate 1 to anyone looking for a great vacation with a reputable company

I recently went to Italy and I was in a group of 8 people. We had the best experience on the entire trip and it all started with the great customer service we received from the agent at Gate1. From the time she got on us the 1st phone call she exhibited patience and an in depth knowledge about Rome and some other locations in Italy we were interested in seeing. We ended up staying at the Grand Hotel Palatino on the recommendation of the Gate1 rep and it was an absolutely fantastic choice. It was very close to some of the main attractions and half a block from the metro train station which was perfect. We had unseasonably warm weather which made the trip fun also. I recommend everyone use Gate1 for all of the travel needs and wants in the future. We enjoyed the trip so much we've already booked and put deposits down on 2 new trips for 2015.

This is the first time we have ever taken a guided tour and we were a little bit apprehensive. Gate 1 took care of everything in both Israel and Jordon. The transfers went smoothly. The tour guides were excellent and very informative of all history in both countries and answered all of our questions. Their English was excellent and they took care of every need anyone had. The hotels were very good to excellent. The tours of all historical areas were great, and made very interesting with the knowledge given by the tour guides. The tour bus drivers were very courteous and safe. We felt very safe and we even had an armed tourist policeman on the bus for the whole trip through Jordan. After this one experience with Gate 1, we have already recommended the Israel/Jordan trip to other friends and relatives. We are extremely pleased with our experience.

I just returned from the Gate One 8 Day Amazon Adventure in Ecuador and it was fabulous! This was the first time I had traveled alone so I didn't quite know what to expect. We had a diverse group of 22 friendly people ranging from 16 to 70 - singles, sisters, marrieds, and mothers and adult children. I never felt awkward or alone. Our tour leader Marco couldn't have been better! He was knowledgeable, helpful, attentive and always making sure we were well cared for. Same for our bus driver, Jose. The hotels/resorts were the best I've ever stayed in. I'm used to Rick Steves' two star hotels so this was quite a step up for me! Beautiful rooms, one with a fireplace, a rain forest room with a hammock, thermal spas, fresh flowers, luxurious bedding - you get the picture. And the food was delicious. Lots of local trout, steak, fresh exotic fruits and freshly squeezed juices. Of course the best was Ecuador itself. Who would have thought such a small country had so much to offer - the Andes mountains, waterfalls, the Amazon and rain forest, a zip line, colonial cites, gentle people and shopping! This trip was so much more than I expected - I would recommend it to everyone! (As long as you can hike in jungle mud and tolerate the high altitude, it's all good.) I would definitely go on another Gate One trip!

India and Nepal were our 7th trip with Gate 1. As usual it was well planned and interesting. Anytime you fly 1/2 way around the world the flights are long and airports are no longer one of my favorite things. But Gate 1 organized the flights and hotels and transportation efficiently. I really think that Karina, who has scheduled all our trips, must be their best employee. As usual we had a great guide and the trip became a nice adventure. The other 20 people on the tour were great traveling companions so that trips were all pleasant. Even adversity was well handled by the guide when we got sick. We visited many sites and increased our knowledge of India religions and customs. We were immersed in Old Delhi life and of the other areas we visited. Also, like other areas Gate 1 gives back to worthwhile enterprises where they take you. We visited a rural school that would not have had modern restroom facilities if not for Gate 1. In Nepal our side trips added to the adventure. Flying around and seeing Mt Everest and the mountain are thing you remember forever. If you want to see and feel India and Nepal we would recommend Gate 1.

Discovery Tour - Illustrious France with Gate 1 My husband and I just came back from our Discovery tour (small group) of Illustrious France with Gate 1. We had a great time. This is my 3rd time with Gate 1 and I was not disappointed. The daily activities were very well planned, the choice of hotels are excellent as usual (in France, hotels are expensive), most of all, out tour manager was super excellent. Will definitely take Gate 1's tour again in the near future.

My husband and I just completed a river boat cruise on the Danube through Germany, Austria, and Hungary with the Gate1 Company. What a wonderful trip that we will remember long into our future. Gate1 had everything organized from sun up to sun down. No problems were encountered and things went very smoothly. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and personable. Everyday there was an interesting tour to take i.e. cities, castles, churches. The crew on the ship were very helpful and attentive. Dining was a joy for all three meals everyday. The food was wonderfully prepared by the executive chef. Nightly entertainment was fun and interactive. I highly recommend traveling with Gate1!

This was our second trip with Gate 1 Travel. We took a 10 days affordable China trip with some friends. It was an incredible experience and full of surprises. The service, hotels, transfers, food, tours and tour guides were super. Our tour guide Jason went above and beyond to make every minute of our trip count. We were concerned about food, But what a surprise. We enjoyed every meal. Breakfast at the hotels were excellent. Lunches scheduled by Gate 1 were amazing. We had great weather. My favorite place was the Terracotas Museum. I just would like to add another day, since we lost three days traveling, but I will go to China again.

We just returned from a wonderful trip to Turkey with Gate 1 travel. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotels and the tour itself based on the price we paid. The hotels were conveniently located and very nice. Many of the meals were included. The itinerary was great and we saw a great deal of Turkey, even having lunch with a family in a small village. We loved all of Turkey and felt very safe everywhere. Our guide, Orhan, was absolutely amazing. He was extremely knowlegeable and excited about archeology and history. He was entertaining and organized which made it fun for the whole group.

I have just returned from my 5th trip with Gate 1 and I am glowing. This trip was to the Baltic States and Poland, places which have intrigued me for years. Gate 1 always manages to select the best combinations of sights to visit so that everyone has something to enjoy--from history to fun. I also love that they combine excellent locally guided tours with enough free time to do some exploring on my own. Our tour manager, Agnes, was a delight--always warm and helpful, as well as very knowledgeable about these countries and she kept everything running smoothly. The hotels were good--conveniently located to amenities, sights and shopping and Agnes always gave us good information about the locations. The buses and bus drivers were excellent and the pace of the tour was perfect. I loved having 2 nights in each city. I never felt rushed or deprived, though I loved everyplace we visited and could have spent another few days in each because they were so fascinating and beautiful. I highly recommend visiting this region (or any region) with Gate 1. In fact, I am getting ready to go on my 6th trip with them!

We recently returned from the ten day Ecuador - Amazon Jungle Adventure Tour. We enjoyed our guide (Alfredo) and he is quite knowledgeable about the region. Our family had a very enjoyable experience meeting other pleasant tour members. The only issues that we encountered were that certain day trips were cancelled due to holidays and bad weather. We would of preferred to stay at certain accommodations for more than one night to have more time enjoying our surroundings. We would of also preferred a longer hike in the Mindo Rain Cloud Forest. The food and lodging were comfortable and met our needs. Our family consisted of an 11 year old boy and a 9 year old daughter. The raft ride, high ropes course, use of the trampoline, and Amazon Jungle hike were memorable events for our children. This was our second trip with Gate 1 Travel (our first being to Peru in 2013) and we look forward to our next great adventure with Gate 1.

This was our second trip with Gate1 and we wouldn't changed anything about it. Budapest, Vienna, and Prague everything was absolutely gorgeous and the attractions were stunning. The local tour guides in each city were highly knowledgable of their town and helpful with getting around. This is an outstanding tour company that has taken me around the world w/flights included at a very affordable cost, great hotels, guides, and support from USA office. You don't need to spend your retirement savings for a great travel experience. All guides speak fluent English, you stay in beautiful hotels close to the important sites, and most tours and meals are included in cost.

Just returned from Gate 1's 10-Day Germany, Switzerland and Austria tour and it was simply amazing! Our Tour Manager, Noel, was so knowledgeable about every city we visited, and he made sure we got a real flavor for each one. He was such fun and kept our group thoroughly engaged the entire time. Noel was truly outstanding! Our bus driver, Paul, was so skilled and friendly! He did a great job getting us from city to city safely and on time! Now, about the tour!! It was planned to a tee! Each hotel was carefully selected and was first rate with friendly staff. We saw so many cities, each with their own unique personalities. And the Beauty! These countries and the cities we visited are absolutely beautiful, and the people we encountered were wonderful. We were very sorry to see our trip end! I can't say enough good things about Gate 1. This was our fourth tour with Gate 1 and we have never been disappointed. We took two wonderful guided tours of Italy and the Amalfi Coast (our tour manager Flavia was superb!!), and we also took the Greece independent tour to Athens, Mykonos and Santorini (Fabulous!). Gate 1 takes excellent care of it's clients from the first phone call to a follow up email afterward checking to be sure you enjoyed your trip. On two of our tours, we had major flight delays (not Gate 1's fault), but a quick call to them was all it took to be sure our transfers were waiting for us when we arrived. The extra service and care Gate 1 takes to be sure their clients are happy vacationers makes them first rate, and a company that we will use again and again. We're already looking at our next trip! Thanks Gate 1!!

My husband I just returned from Gate 1's "17 Day Ecuador and Peru" tour and we were very pleased with every aspect of the trip. This was only our second group tour and we were a bit hesitant. After researching we decided on this trip highlighted by a rain forest stay, Machu Pichu climb and Lake Titicaca experience. We loved every minute of the trip and were impressed with the attention to detail and care exhibited by our tour managers, Marcelo and Julio. to give an example...Our return trip to the U.S. was canceled because of snow and rescheduled for the next day. Arrangements were made for us to remain at our hotel for a nominal fee and Gate 1 arranged for someone from their local office to accompany us to the airport as our tour guide, Julio, had left the previous day (the scheduled end of the trip). On the way to the airport, Julio called to make certain we were taken care of. I was impressed with that level of concern and commitment. Our Ecuador experiences were varied and interesting.. Our guide, Marcelo, was a superb ambassador for his country and Gate 1. We had fun. Each day Marcelo would plan a sweet surprise for us and we were genuinely excited each day to discover what he had planned...a special ice cream treat, sugar cane. The variety of hotels , meals, and experiences was wonderful. Start to finish, not one problem I am even now planning another trip with Gate 1.

My wife and I recently went on an 11 day trip to Italy starting in Venice, then Florence, Rome and finishing in Sorrento. Originally decided to go to Italy because of the pictures and stories our youngest had sent home, but we were not sure how to go about pulling it off. We went on-line and found Gate 1 and were impressed by all of the great reviews so we took 'a chance', and booked the trip. We were not disappointed! The entire trip was fantastic,save the Air France flight home, not Gate 1's fault. Arrived in Venice and were taken into the city via water taxi and the fun never stopped for 11 days. The tour was very well organized, we always had time to see everything, the accomodations were excellent, very nice hotels close to everywhere we were going, and the Gate 1 representatives, tour manager, bus driver and tour guides were awesome! The Gate 1 people were all very professional, but also fun to be with, and our tour manager, Leteitzia , treated us like we were part of her family. We will take other trips with Gate 1, but the bar has been set extremely high for service, if the next tour is even close to this one we will be very happy!

We thoroughly enjoyed the places we visited on our 17 day Central Europe land and river cruise trip. The people on the cruise and from the countries we visited were an experience in themselves. The crew on the ship was fabulous. From the chamber maids to the guys maintaining the ship, we didn't go without what we needed. The food was appropriate for the countries we were visiting and it was plentiful and delicious. The tours were extremely well coordinated and very informative. I will say, there was a lot of walking. We are now looking for our next trip with Gate 1 to Spain in 2015.

The details of travel, food, accommodations and side trips appeared to be well thought through so that all aspects of the trip were seamless. The highlight of the trip was our tour manager Rolly. My husband and I took the 16 day Classic Thailand with Phuket tour recently and enjoyed it very much. It's also very well organized. Our tour guide (Oh) was simply wonderful, very helpful, knowledgeable and fun. Hotels are very good. All historic sites that we visited worth to see. By the group request Oh took our group to see White Temple that wasn't on the list, and it definitely was the highlight of that day. I wonder why it was removed from the itinerary. Visiting elephant camp was so much fun. All in all I can highly recommend traveling with Gate1.

He taught us about culture, helped us with all of our needs, and set the mood for a fun trip. My sister and I recently returned from a wonderful trip to Iceland with Gate 1. The trip was smooth and well-organized, the tour guide was friendly and well-informed, and the hotel was great and centrally located. It's difficult to travel in Iceland during the winter time, but Gate 1 was prepared. The tour guide even had crampons and reflective arm bands for everyone! Our trip to Iceland was both affordable and fantastic - who can ask for more?

We enjoyed the trip to Vietnam with Gate 1 very much. My husband had been there 45 years ago under very different circumstances and for a long time had wanted to go back to see what the country looked like now. The changes are amazing and very impressive. We had expected lots of development in Saigon, but Hanoi was the real surprise with new apartment and office buildings, hotels and shopping everywhere. Vietnam is definitely a country on the rise, fascinating and beautiful as well. This was our second trip with Gate 1 and both could not have been better. From leaving home to returning, everything came off just as advertised. Our tour guide, Tran, was excellent, knowledgeable, good-natured, patient and conscientious. Good food, very good hotels, worthwhile optionals, very good value for money. A fine trip overall, and we will be traveling with Gate 1 again for sure.

My wife and I joined their 17-day tour package of Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam four weeks ago. They provided the best services we have ever received from any tour company. The money we paid for the service was well worth. They provide us ample supply of bottle water which we didn't have to shop and carry them around. I also like the option of free time when we could do our own shopping or join an optional tour. Will join Gate 1 again!

Istanbul, Cruise of the Aegean and Athens - Gate 1 did a superb job with the travel arrangements, hotels in both Istanbul and Athens. Louis Cruise Crystal was an older ship but a good size - I might enjoy an even smaller ship. Panos, the Gate 1 tour manager on board ship was excellent and I appreciated that I was not pressured to take all the excursions and was provided much information on places I decided to explore independently. We went with our daughter, who recently graduated from college, on the "12 Day Classic Spain & Portugal" trip in the end of June 2014. Gate 1 provided us with such a great itinerary from beginning to end. It was a very memorable trip, from Lisbon, Portugal to Andalucía, Spain. There was so much to see everywhere that we went. We stood on "The Rock" in Gibraltar, a British territory, where it is you can view both Spain and Africa, We also traveled to Tanger, Morocco, which checked visiting Africa off of our list! Toledo and Madrid were two of our favorites as they were both beautiful and magnificent! All the local tour guides were very knowledgeable. Our Gate 1 tour director Paul did a wonderful job, was extremely knowledgeable everywhere we went and was a very thoughtful person; we truly really appreciated it and we felt so lucky to have him. Our driver, Norberto, was also fantastic and made sure to make this trip safe. Thank you very much, Gate 1. We really enjoyed the trip and look forward to utilizing Gate 1 again!

We recently returned from a Gate 1 fifteen day tour to China. We have traveled quite a lot and this was absolutely the best trip ever. Gate 1 delivers more for less in every way. We enjoyed every minute. The history, the culture, the food, the entertainment and the people in China were wonderful. Be sure to do the Yangtze River Cruise. It is spectacular. If I did it again I would add a few more days to experience all Shanghai has to offer. My wife and I travelled to Peru from 23 Nov to 2 Dec 2014 with Gate 1 Travel. We, and 26 other travellers, had signed up for the 10 Day Affordable Peru Miami Special escorted tour. Our trip was fantastic and we consider it to be one of the very best travel experiences that we have ever had. Every aspect of our adventure met or exceeded our expectations. The accomodations, meals, excursions, flights, bus, train and boat rides were first class and provided excellent value for the money. The tour director, Julio Camacho, truly went out of his way to ensure the well-being of all members of the tour. He answered all questions and provided very informative commentaries on the history and culture of all the places that we visited. Since our return, we have been enthousiastically recommending this trip to our friends in the RV park where we spend the winter months. We are definitely looking forward to our next travel adventure with Gate1 Travel.

My trip with Gate 1 Travel to Thailand was great! I was only able to go for a week, but my tour guide was able to fit in several historical sites, elephant rides, and a visit to a tiger temple where I was able to take pictures and pet tigers. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about all of the places we visited, and the accommodations were above my expectations. My only wish would have been more time within the shopping districts of Bangkok, but we fit ALOT in for just being in Thailand a week.

We were so happy with our trip to Portugal and Spain this past September. This was our second trip with Gate 1, the first being Croatia which also was great. The quality of accomadations are always good but perhaps the one thing that can make or break a trip is the quality of the guides. Roberto, our guide in Spain was so knowledgable and kind that the trip was just wonderful. My husband and I expressed an interest in going to a soccer game in Madrid and Roberto was able to get tickets that were almost center field. We look forward to years of traveling with Gate 1, it's a great bang for the buck!

Kudos to Gate1 Travel! We just returned from a 16 night trip with Gate1 Travel to the Greek Isles. It was perfect! Being conservative New Englanders, we are quite picky and, honestly, this trip was just amazing..... Gate1 was superb every step of the way from the initial booking to the wonderful representatives that met us at each island and took the time to come to our hotel and give us the local information and advice and to let us know they were available to us for just about anything. The hotels (we chose level "C"... in the middle) were all wonderful. All of them were just a bit "out of town" in wonderful settings.... close enough and just far enough to be quiet and relaxing. All our transfers went without a hitch. Our fellow travelers (even though it was "independent travel", we kept seeing people from our group) were also very happy with the trip. I highly recommend Gate1 and can't wait for our next adventure with them!

My husband and I just returned from a trip with Gate 1 to Ecuador - the Kalidescope tour. We have a couple of tour companies we usually use but wanted to give Gate 1 a try because we just couldn't believe that it could be such a value for the $$. Well, they more than met our expectations! Our tour manager, Antony was an angel. He is truly one of the best guides I have had anywhere with any tour company. He went out of his way to make our trip a great experiences. We planned to stay in Quito a few extra days and he even prepare an 'itinerary' for us with tips, things to see, places to eat, how to get places and use the taxi's, etc. As for the tour, I couldn't have asked for more. The hotels were very nice, as was the food. The hotel transfers and the tour transportation was good. There were many meals included in the tour and those were good as well. Also, bottled water was provided on the tour coach as well as in our hotel rooms. I'm not really here to review the country of Ecuador, but I will say, I was extremely surprised by what I found. I guess I expected to see more poverty like in Guatemala and Peru, but no - the cities were all extremely clean, and the people were all welcoming. They always have smiles on their faces! I don't think I saw even on Ecuadorian who looked unhappy in the least. A very pleasant country to visit and I would like to see more, so we plan on taking another of the Gate 1 tours to Ecuador in the future, perhaps to see more of the northern part of the county, and of course the Galapagos. This trip with Gate 1 was every bit as good as trips I've taken with another company, but it was half the price. The value is excellent, and I would certainly recommend this trip to my friends and family. We are planning on doing more trips with Gate 1 in the near future. I heard from travel mates on this trip who have previously traveled with Gate 1 that their trips to Eastern Europe, Turkey, Africa, and Asia were also great, and these are all on my bucket list! Can't wait!!

My trip to Italy was Fantastico! The tour guide, accommodations, food, and little extras made for a memorable experience. From beginning to end, I never had to worry about anything but enjoying myself and learning about the culture, history, and people of this great country. I would use Gate 1 again to travel and would encourage participating in the optional excursions as they are worth considering unless you need a bit of down time. My wife and I just returned from a Gate 1 Travel tour of Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia and the trip was absolutely fantastic. It seemed that every stop was at a World Heritage Site and the experience with the people of these countries was wonderful. We have been on a number of tours with different companies, but Gate 1 always seems to be a notch higher in quality. The biggest difference that separates them from other professional tour companies is with their tour managers/guides. Our local guides were superior in their service and knowledge, but Tim, our female tour manager, went above and beyond any guide we have ever had. I had an issue with lost medicine, and she moved mountains to locate it and get it returned. She went so far as to accompany us as an advocate/translator to make sure its return went smoothly. Besides her personal concern and care, her humor was a breath of fresh air in a region that can be very hot and humid. She is the best tour guide/manager we have had in our double-digit tour history of travel. Given this type of service, and the fact that Gate 1's rates are very reasonable, it is hard to go wrong with any booking with Gate 1 Travel..

Just returned from the 10 day Classic Ireland escorted trip and we loved it. It was our first ever bus tour and we were nervous, but the entire experience was excellent. We took the National Park Tour in August of this year. It was wonderful. The tour guide Muirel and Paul the bus driver were the best. We couldn't have had a better group. My husband and I just came back from Dubai. This trip was booked through Gate1 travel. This was our first trip with Gate1 and it exceeded our expectations. It was a guided tour where we had the privilege to know beautiful places and still have our free time to go around and do some shopping. We were accommodated in a very nice 4 stars hotel (brand new), conveniently located and close to the metro. The tour guide Ms. Channes was spectacular and very helpful with the explanations of the city, their culture, the most see places, etc...The price was unbelievable, a real deal for all we got. We , a group of 9 family and friends booked a vacation to Turkey through Gate 1 Travel in Sept. 2014. Our travel agent Joanne Flayed is very helpful and helped us book this trip in a very professional way and answered all our questions during the booking period and even after we came back. Our flight bookings had no problem. When we landed in Turkey we were received at the Airport by a very humble tour guide and were taken to the hotel without any loss of time. All their hotels were centrally located and 4 to 5 star . Our tour guide was very helpful and she was with us and was always on time and was very knowledgeable about the sites she showed us. All travelers in the group were very happy. The bus that stayed with us for 12 days was a very neat and clean bus with a very humble driver and a conductor. This was our second trip with Gate 1 and we are planning another trip through them.

I just went to Morocco for 13 days with Gate 1 and it was a wonderful trip. We had an excellent guide in Hamdan. Morocco is surprisingly safe and clean and modern. I traveled as a single woman and never felt threatened at all. The food in Morocco is healthy and good, but also surprisingly not spicy. Gate 1 put us in great hotels and our bus driver was truly an expert. This was my 5th trip with Gate 1 and there will be many, many more.

My Husband and I just returned from an amazing, adventurous 17 Day Ecuador & Peru trip with Gate 1. This was our second trip with Gate 1 and definitely not our last! The tour was made up of different age groups which made it interesting and kept us "on our toes". The log cabins, haciendas and lodges we stayed at were all excellent. It was a very different experience from staying in the regular hotels. The views of the volcanoes, jungle and rivers from our resorts up in the Andes and Amazon region were breathtaking. Our tour Manger Jose in Ecuador was very knowledgeable and his organizational skills and attention to detail allowed us to have a carefree vacation. He had a delightful sense of humor. He took the time to make us feel special and answered all our questions individually. Truly an amazing guide! We also had a fantastic time visiting interesting and unique places in Peru. Our tour to Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca was the highlight of our trip. The trip was well organized and our Tour Manager was highly knowledgeable and fantastic. We were impressed with his professionalism and forethought. The Hotels were excellent, as were the meals. We were somewhat apprehensive taking a tour at such high elevations (max. was 15,000 feet), but the trip was planned to gradually get us acclimatized to the elevations and we had no problems. We saw much and learned a lot about the history of the country. Thanks Gate 1 for a very nice well planned and insightful vacation!

We just returned from our 11 day Enchanting Italy Tour with Gate 1. We had an absolutely amazing time. We were able to see so many amazing things throughout Italy and we enjoyed every minute. If anyone is deciding between using a tour-group or not, I would say this is the way to go and we would, without a doubt, recommend Gate 1. The value we got by using Gate 1 was well worth it. We definitely got more out of the trip by using Gate 1. While traveling, Gate 1 had everything figured out and well planned. Our bags were always taken care of on travel days and we were not lugging them around. The local guides were very informative and entertaining while showing us around. Everything was also incredibly well planned and got us into all of the best sites. The tour director always knew the best times to get into places to avoid crowds. While many other tourists were waiting outside of attractions for hours, we were able to skip ahead of the line and enjoy the best of what Italy has to offer. Tickets/admissions were always taken care of for museums/ferries/transportation/etc., so we never had to think about it. We felt well taken care of the whole trip. And, there were always surprises around every corner, making the trip even more special. We also want to make special mention of our tour director, Simone Vitti. We cannot say enough good things about him. He was the best! Simone went above and beyond to make us feel at home and create the best experiences. He was very knowledgeable, informative, and funny. He took the time to make sure everyone was having an enjoyable experience and made sure everything ran smoothly. Any special needs or requests any guests had were handled expertly, quickly, and to the highest standards by Simone.

Have taken several great trips with Gate 1 and have recommended them broadly. They’re a good value for the money. However... We bought ‘silver’ on our most recent trip from a Gate 1 vendor whose store is supposed to be guaranteed. The jewelry is not silver as represented and Gate 1 is allowing them to get away with ripping us and who knows how many other travelers off. For this reason, I would caution you against trusting any vendor that Gate 1 specifically takes you to visit and this harms our overall perception of Gate 1 as a company

I've always wanted to go to China and finally found the site which was affordable. What a great trip it was! Grate 1 has done an amazing job organizing the trip, where every detail, every aspect was thought through. The optional tours were exceptional. I was really impressed with our our tour manager, Nina, a young woman full of energy, very professional but at the same time friendly and funny, knowledgeable and experienced. I was amazed how she managed group of 35 people -with care, patience, answering many questions, full filling special requests, Everybody loved her.The local guides and drivers were also professional and friendly. We took the 7 day Peru/Machu Picchu Tour out of Miami. I read reviews on Gate 1 before we booked it and found that people had really good things to say about them. Our guides were incredible! Rene and Abel always had our hotels, transfers, dinners and Air travel all set up for us before we arrived. Our luggage was loaded and unloaded for us at every hotel and airport. All we had to do was show up. The guides were very knowledgeable about the history of the areas we were traveling. I would take another tour with Gate 1 for sure!

We have just returned from our fifth Gate1 tour, the 11-Day Kaleidoscope of Guatemala & Honduras. We are convinced that Gate1 offers the best combination of value and quality in the tour industry, and we speak as veterans of more than 40 international tours. From the moment we were picked up at the Guatemala City airport to the final transfer 11 days later, the logistics of the tour were impeccable. Our bus was always where and when it was supposed to be; local guides and boats were always there waiting for us. Our guide was knowledgeable and always ready to take care of special needs. When I developed a cold, Estuardo went with me to a pharmacy and made sure I purchased the appropriate medicine. I also appreciate the care Gate1 uses in setting up itineraries. All competitive tours travel from the capital to Tikal, the country's main attraction. The drive between the two cities is a very long one, about eight hours. Gate1 uniquely flies its clients up and then drives them down, greatly increasing the efficiency of the sightseeing. It's that kind of attention to detail that we appreciate a great deal. Similarly, many tours go to Guatemala, but few include a side trip to Honduras to see the ruins at Copan. Our tour included just the right combination of scheduled sightseeing and free time. Also, there were just 15 people on our bus. As veterans of 40-45 person tours, the intimate scale of the travel enhanced our experience. Finally, the quality of the hotels and the food was first-class all the way. We really only had only one nitpick: we wished there had been some Guatemalan music played during at least some of our driving time. Apparently, our bus was not appropriately equipped. But the bottom line is that we enjoyed our tour immensely and highly recommend it and Gate1. In fact, we have our sixth Gate1 tour already scheduled!

Just returned from a 10 day affordable Italy and everything was just amazing. Suzy, our Tour Guide in Italy, met us at the airport in Venice and from day one to the final day in Rome, made sure everything went smoothly for us. Suzy went above and beyond her job responsibilities making sure this was a memorable trip. Every detail was attended to with precision and care. Our bus driver, Mario, was fabulous. We were amazed by his great driving ability and loved our "disco bus" after our Tuscan dinner. All of our guides in Venice, Florence, Assisi and in Rome were superb in their knowledge and passion for the Italian landmarks. Will definitely go with Gate 1 in future.

Traveled to South Africa and Victoria Falls in September 2014 with Gate 1. This is our second adventure with Gate 1 and it, too, was also a great experience. Our guide, Jason, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and made our trip troublefree. Our hotels were first rate with excellent service. Several hotels had wild animal viewing with waterholes on their property. Our itinerary was well planned, allowing for a variety of venues. Not only did we see the expected nature sights, including the Big Five, but saw a wide variety of other animals and magnificent gardens. In addition we had opportunities to experience the varied cultures of South Africa. We also had "free time" to explore on our own. Victoria Falls shouldn't be missed as it is truly one of the natural "wonders of the world." September is a perfect time to visit as the weather was warm and dry. Viewing the animals was enhanced due to minimal foliage at the end of winter. This is a great time to view Victoria Falls due to the lower water flow through the various channels, making for better viewing with minimum water spray interference. We are looking forward to future travels with Gate 1. We've not been disappointed. Highly recommend. Dick and Chris

Our tour guide, Santiago, was like a walking encyclopedia of information about the country, it's history, culture, and suggestions for great things to see and do in our free time. He was very kind, professional, and a ton of fun! We were most impressed with the fact that our group was treated like VIPs even though we were an entire group of discounted Groupon rates. Just amazing! When we told them we were going on honeymoon, they absolutely went out of their way to make everything special for us. We will be travelling with Gate 1 again!

My sister and I did the week-long Budapest/Prague trip. Gate 1 provided the perfect way to travel, for us. Plane fare, tickets, hotel, optional activities: the rest we did on our own. The trips are inexpensive, the hotels chosen are close to public transportation (and in the case of Prague within walking distance of the tourist center). The hotels were also very nice, with helpful English-speaking staff. We chose two city tours, which gave us the chance to see parts of the city that we wouldn't otherwise have visited, so we feel we got a fairly complete idea of each city. Guides were well trained and gave lots of information, but they weren't overbearing. Overall, this was one of the most enjoyable vacations I have had, and I will certainly check Gate 1 first before I take my next trip. Thanks, Gate 1!

10 Day Classic Baltics tour_Gate 1, April 29-May 8/14. As usual, Gate 1 provided a first-class tour at a value price. Hotels were high quality and central in every city, something not offered with other companies. Breakfasts and several lunches/dinners were included and were some of the best we have ever been offered by any tour company. Buses were clean and in excellent condition. Our guides were knowledgeable and lots of fun. The itinerary was as promised and included many historical highlights in each city. The organization and scheduling were good every day. Cons: no complaints whatsoever. This was our fourth tour with Gate 1 and we are totally convinced it is the best value offered in this busy travel industry.

I went to Budapest and Prague with Gate 1 and I don't htink I will ever use another travel company again! The entire experience was amazing, starting with the patient and friendly customer service department (we had a lot of questions before we booked our trip!). The tour guides were very knowledgable; all transfers and hotel pick ups were on time; and the hotels were clean and in good areas. I just got back from the 10 day affordable Peru trip. The trip was excellent and I would recommend this tour, and Gate 1 in general, to anyone. The locations were amazing and our tour guide did a terrific job of bringing Peru's history to life. Machu Picchu is breathtaking. The Gate 1 provided hotels were very nice and the meals and entertainment were fun. This Gate 1 trip is very well organized and a good choice for anyone wishing to see all that Peru has to offer.

We recently returned from a Gate 1 five days tour to Iceland. The whole trip was brilliant! We arrived on the early Tue morning, the lady who works from Gate 1 travel was at the hotel waiting for all of us, she gave a warm welcome greeting to us and our prepaid vouchers. The rooms of Icelandair hotel Natura were comfortable and well appointed and both dinner and breakfast offered a wide choice. The staff were very polite and helpful, and upon arrival they gave us a free bus pass to travel around the city centre. Our Northern lights trip was awesome, we saw the lights on our first night when we arrived. The Blue Lagoon was perfect place to relax,but it's a bit pricey. The water were blue and hot, this place was a fantastic experience. We also did the City tour of Reykjavik and the Golden Circle Tour, the tour guides are knowledgeable and professional. But sadly we don't have extra time for the tour of Southern Coast and Glacier walk, we absolutely loved Iceland, we will definitely go back again in the near future. We still so glad we went with your company and would highly recommend to all my friends!

We returned from a wonderful, adventurous 12 day trip to Ecuador & Galapagos Islands with Gate 1. This was our 3rd trip with this company and probably the best. The tour was made up of different age groups which made it more interesting and kept us "on our toes". The views of volcanos, jungle and rivers from our resorts up in the Andes and Amazon region were breathtaking. But the main attraction for me were the amazing creatures we saw on the Galapagos Islandsgiant tortoises, golden iguanas, blue footed boobies and sea lion families all living together on islands with a desert terrain. It felt like we were visiting another planet. Although we are planning another Gate 1 trip for next near, it will be hard to "top" this one.

Just returned from a 12-day tour of the Baltic States, including Poland, with Gate 1. The guide, Agnes, was superb! Very knowledgeable and organized and showed leadership skills. Hotels were all wonderfully located, steps from the old towns, easy to explore during free time. Balance of guided time and free time was excellent. To cover this territory in 12 days, the most efficient way is with a guided tour, with 2 nights in each of Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius, Warsaw and Krakow. This tour was truly a bargain--with 1st class flavor.

We and two other couples traveled on Gate1 to Turkey, both for the first time. Before we go, because of the press we were concern about safety. As it turned out Turkey was safe, we felt welcome and we had a very nice experience. Gate1 is professional, detailed like accommodation, food, baggage, the bus, site visit were first class. Our Tour guide, Mr. Sallih Goh was outstanding, he is not a tour guide you expected, he is like a professor, knowledgeable, courteous and funny. Turkey is also relatively inexpensive. We highly recommend Gate1 and Turkey.

We had a fantastic "Peruvian Legends" Tour to Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca and other interesting and unique places in Peru. The trip was well organized and the Tour Manager was fantastic. We had a small group of 12 and we all got individual attention and consideration. The Hotels were excellent, as were the meals. We were somewhat apprehensive taking a tour at such high elevations (max. was 15,000 feet) at our age (70's), but the 12 day trip was planned to gradually get us acclimatized to the elevations and we had no problems. We saw much and learned a lot about the history of the country. This was our first Gate1 Tour, but it will not be our last.

We just returned from the 10-day Affordable Spain Tour. It was fantastic! Piotr, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgable, friendly, and professional. He is absolutely unflappable! Every detail was taken care of. All we had to do was sit back and enjoy the trip. The local tour guides were always waiting for us when we stepped off the bus. Our tickets were handed to us, we didn't have to wait in line, and in most cases we didn't even have to check in to the hotel! Piotr took care of everything! We selected Gate 1 Travel on the recommendation of friends who use them often. This was our first group tour and I highly recommend it as the way to travel. We had plenty of downtime but still saw much more than we would have if we had planned the trip ourselves. I highly recommend Gate 1 Travel!

Our trip was to Spain and Portugal. The flight with TAP Portugal was surprisingly comfortable in economy class the travel documents without fault. The trip was smartly planned and organized, the hotels well chosen with enough overnight stays in each to recover from the long drives to well selected historic sites. The execution was superbly performed by the tour director Daniel Revero and Victor, the driver. The optional choices could not be missed and besides the fact that these two countries are heavy duty tourist destinations, Daniel made sure that no one got lost, robbed or in any other way inconvenienced. Overall we had a great trip with Gate 1 Travel.

We had an amazing trip for our 8 days Ecuador and Amazon with Gate1. This was our first trip with Gate1 and we didn’t know what to expect at first. It turned out that we had an amazing time! Our tour guide Jose Naranjo was very energetic and our group members were wonderful company. We had 20 people in our group which was perfect. We were greeted by our tour guide Jose at the Quito airport as soon as we stepped out of customs when we arrived late at night and that was a relief especially after a long flight to a strange country. All our accommodations were excellent. We enjoyed the Termas Papallacta Spa very much, after a long day with hot springs, Turkish steam rooms and massage were very enjoyable. Jose took us for the morning hike which had absolutely beautiful scenery. Crawling in tight spaces to get to the waterfall balconies was a challenge & memorable fun experience. The view in Hacienda Manteles was spectacular. All in all we enjoyed this trip very much and would definitely recommend this tour to others.

My wife and I just returned from Gate1 Travel's 14 day tour of China with the four day Yangtze River Cruise. We have nothing but praises on how this trip went. The entire trip went like clockwork and the accommodations were first class during the entire trip. I was especially impressed with how our tour manager, who stayed with us throughout the 14 days, ensured that we stayed on schedule. He made arrangements for all of our luggage to be handled, completed group check-ins for all three of our in-country flights. The meals were excellent, although one evening we did need to take a break from Chinese and visit the local Pizza Hut. The side excursions, Tang Dynasty Dinner, Acrobatic Show, Shabaozhai Temple, and the Yangtze Stream all were well worth the extra money. I was very impressed with how knowledgeable and friendly the city guides were. Too bad the rating only goes up to 5-star, because Gate1 deserves more for this trip. We will definitely choose Gate1 again.

Purchased a Groupon for Prague and Budapest not knowing about Gate 1. After all was said and done, Gate 1 delivered everything they said they would. Great trip, excellent hotels and tour guides. We could not beat the price of the trip and the value and are very glad we did take a chance on Gate 1. We will certainly use Gate 1 in the near future. Next trip we will look for a fully guided tour or maybe a river barge trip.

Our combination land tour (Poland -> Budapest) and river cruise tour (Budapest -> Prague) was excellent. The guides were very knowledgeable, all arrangements worked out as planned, and the pace was just right. The hotels were first rate - the same as used by Viking and Uniworld, and the overall price of the trip was lower than that of other cruise lines. It's our second trip with Gate 1 Travel, but I anticipate taking more in the future.

The Optional Tours that were selected were worth seeing & enjoying because they were all related to the history of the places you visited. We just returned from the Gate1 Kenya - Tanzania tour and it was absolutely wonderful. Gate1 has done it again - great venue, lodging, food, and guides. This trip was the top of our bucket list and we weren't disappointed. We had so many great experiences starting right off with the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, Giraffe Sanctuary and Bead factory on our first day out. The game drives were amazing - beyond our expectations - which were high. After taking the Gate1 Ecuador trip, we knew this was our company. They really get you immersed in the culture and people. Our lodgings were a wonderful experience - from the tent camps - better than many hotel rooms - and the Kenyan Treehouse Lodge got you up close and personal with the animals with plenty of time to observe them interact. Can't say enough about our 2 guides who brought Africa and its many wonders alive to us. The food was great, with plenty of selections. We certainly were spoiled. A trip to remember!

One of the best trips my husband and I have taken. This is our third time using Gate1 and each experience has been excellent. Although on a tour you feel like you are herded like cattle, get up at this time, leave at this time, but to be honest it is the most efficient way to travel if you want to see a country. Last year we took a trip and didn’t use a tour company – bad idea. The trip we took this year made up for our lack of adventure last year. The trip to Italy was adventures, knowledgeable, and towards the end relaxing. There was just so much to see and do. It really wasn’t a trip for someone who wants to sit by the beach and relax, but if you want to see Italy, this is for you. The last two days, was near the sea, and that was probably the most relaxing. The local guides were awesome and our tour leader was divine! We made friendship from our trip and established Facebook contact with many of them. Some of the local hotels were not great but our tour leader helped resolve any problems – that is another plus about using this company. Also, when we went exploring on our own, our tour leader was able to give us guidance of where to look for things. I highly recommend using Gate1.

Bravo Gate 1 Travel Company! On May 2, 2014 we took the 10 day affordable Peru trip. We received a great value for our dollar. The trip was simply amazing. Great accommodations, wonderful restaurants for dinner and a super tour guide by the name of Jesus Cardenas. He put 150% into our tour. We were very pleased with how our luggage always followed us from Hotel to Hotel. All the transfers were done by our guide Jesus and we very rarely had to touch our luggage. This trip showed us all the highlights of Peru including Machu Picchu and our group was only 28 people. It was our first with Gate 1 and we will definitely consider another trip with your Company. You were well organized and you give good value.

Just returned from an absolutely fantastic trip to Panama through Gate 1! As expected, everything was top-notch all the way. When I landed at Tocumen International Airport, Gate 1 driver Moises was there waiting for me (and three others) with a smile on his face. During the drive to our hotel, Moises told us everything we could expect the next day and for the remainder of the trip. He didn't want us to worry about a thing, and he was like that for the entire trip. The Toscana Inn was beyond beautiful! When I booked my trip, I wondered whether or not I should "upgrade" to the higher-ranked hotel. I'm glad I didn't! Toscana Inn is quaint, quiet, clean, and roomy. The staff was extremely nice and patient, and the food was delicious each day. As for the tours with guide Alexis Flores, I could go on and on all day singing his praises. Tour guides don't get any better than Alexis! He was knowledgeable, funny, attentive, and even a great photographer and dancer! He went out of his way to make sure the entire group was comfortable. He loved his country, and he made sure we did, too! This was my second Gate 1 trip, and once again, I was quite pleased. Gate 1, you have a customer for life! Thanks again for a fantastic experience!

The mix of hotels is great, definitely value for money! I never write reviews but felt it was really important to share what a life changing and humbling experience my 7 day Kenya Safari trip was. Africa has been on my travel bucket list for as long as I can remember and this trip exceed all my expectations. There are no words that could truly express what an amazing experience it was from beginning to end. The guides (as well as all the other Gate 1 employees) were friendly, fun, and extremely knowledgable. Each of the accommodations were unique and 5 star quality all around. I recently took the trip to Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Words allude me, but I will try: insightful, rewarding, educational, beautiful, spectacular, unbelievably awesome! From the moment we (I put together a group of 5) landed, we were taken care of with the utmost kindness and professionalism. Our guides, bus drivers, helpers were all considerate of our needs, our many questions, our special requests. They were definitely a major part of the Gate 1 family in helping us have the ultimate experience, whether it was a tour, or shopping, or a massage. Our hotels were beyond anything I have stayed in stateside (spacious, clean rooms with a view) Our hotel breakfasts were to my liking, containing a large variety of local and American foods presented beautifully. A highlight of this itinerary were the many opportunities to go out into the countryside and meet the villagers, see their way of life, and to walk in their footsteps (on occasion) ex. making our own Thai pancake And eating it. We gained a better understanding of this part of the world while entertaining sensitive questions about America's involvement in the Vietnam conflict. The locals had a special spirit of humility and service: courteous, kind, and unforgettable! I highly recommend this excursion & I bow to Gate 1 for its vision of excellence for all participants. My husband and I just came back from a 16 day classic Thailand with Phuket, It was the best trip we have ever taken!!! We have traveled a lot over the years and I also worked for American Airlines. Back from the 13 Day Kaleidoscope of Central Europe, which was the second Gate 1 tour I've taken along with my son. We couldn't have been more pleased with the tour which delivered all that was promised and then some. Hotels were top rate with fabulous breakfast buffets, centrally located and within walking distance of shopping and tourist attractions. Our tour manager, Michael, was excellent, giving us so much useful and interesting information as we drove on the tour bus to the next location. He was always available for questions and problem solving, making sure everyone on the tour knew where we were when off the bus, where and when to meet when we had some free time at stops. My son and I felt very safe and looked after. We were told how best to handle spending money in various countries that didn't use the Euro, where was the best place to exchange currency, how to say the basics things in the language of each country as we approached it. The tour bus was large, roomy and comfortable with sparking clean windows inside and out. My son and I are already planning our next Gate 1 trip - but we have so many great ones to consider, it's going to be hard to decide.

We have just returned from a ten-day tour of Vietnam with Gate 1 Travel, staying in lovely hotels with spas and buffet breakfasts, and having the best tour guide we have ever had on any trip, anywhere. A guide can make or break a trip, so this is no small bonus. We found the countryside beautiful (Saigon, as it is still called by 90% of its people rather than Ho Chi Minh City), has deservedly been called "The Paris of the East"), and the Vietnamese people warm and welcoming, especially their delightful children who waved and smiled at us from their buses and the street. All the optional tours (far more reasonably priced than ocean-cruise excursions), were all worthwhile, including a tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels, and two one-day cruises on the Perfume River and Halong Bay. We have used other tour companies, and while we have not been dissatisfied with their service, Gate 1 has very reasonable prices, which usually include air fare, and frequent specials. We are already looking forward to booking our next Gate 1 tour!

My husband and I just returned from nine day Gate 1 tour of Iceland. The scenery is some of the most beautiful that we have ever experienced. I love mountains, and snow on top of said mountains really makes it special. The snow on top of the mountains started melting several weeks prior to our visit. Therefore, we saw lots of waterfalls cascading down the sides of the mountains. If you like mountains and cliffs and lots of open spaces Iceland is the place to visit. The majority of the people speak English as well as their own native language. The people treat you great. This was our fourth trip with Gate 1. They make you feel special. Our Gate 1 guide spoke very clear English and gave all of us a great trip.

Me and my family just returned to our home of NYC after our GATE 1 trip to Italy. We traveled all the way from Venice to the Amalfi region with so many stops along the way to major cities and historical sites (Venice, Rome, Florence, Assisi, Pompeii, Sorrento, and Capri - Amalfi region) it was absolutely magical. The itinerary was the best I found for Italy! It was my first time to Italy, and it was my dream trip to travel there with my family. Our tour manager Susana Bardo was an absolute dream, she took excellent care of not just my family but everyone on our tour group. She was charming, generous with tips and information, and full of passion for her country, and was a big part of why our trip was perfection. Many of our local guides were amazing as well. My favorite local guide was Ricardo who took us around Florence and was so knowledgeable about everything you would have thought he was an art historian. It was our first time traveling with Gate 1, and it will not be our last. Gate 1 travel got us into some of Italy's most famous and busiest attractions effortlessly, while we saw lines of people waiting for hours to get into museums and historical sites. We were VIP at so many of the sites and most often the first group to be let into them. I feel like we saw more of the country then we would ever be able to on our own. If you are doing a guided tour be prepared to walk a lot (I averaged about 16,000 steps per day on my iphone) and have an packed schedule full of events. This is not a downside, we were able to see so much because of the schedule. But for people who would like a more leisurely pace I would suggest not selecting a guided tour. We loved every moment of our trip, we made memories that we will cherish forever. Thank you Gate 1 and to our tour manager Susana!

This past January I travelled with Gate 1 to Cambodia and Vietnam. I enjoyed the tour very much. I wanted to see how Vietnam has changed since the American army left in 1975. I was not disappointed as the tour gave opportunities to see some of the old American army bases and structures. But of course the focus was on Vietnamese sights, culture and religious historical buildings. As for Gate 1, I think the tour was well organized, with excellent hotels, good transport, and interesting sights. also, the meals were good. Our tour manger was a lovely person, caring for all of our needs and concerns, and had a wealth of knowledge about everything in and about Vietnam. I recommend Gate 1 to everyone as a high value, low cost way to see the world.

We have just come back from a 9 day fly and drive of Tuscany. We could not be more pleased, as usual the hotel was superb the car spacious and the country side beautiful. We drove all over putting more than 1,000 miles on the car. Being on your own lets you have some unusual and exciting experiences. I highly recommend seeing Italy this way. This was not our first experience with Gate1 they are the best. We have been to Italy three times, France, Spain, Ireland and China all with Gate1 now planning on going to Greece. Keep the trips coming Gate1.

I took a 12 days tour to Peru with Gate1 on 10/25/14. It was the best tour I've ever had. I upgraded to Option A and it was worth of every penny to upgrade. We were provided with a spacious bus with only 10 passengers. The only downside was that Machu Pichu should be done in two days, not one day, we had to get up at 3:45 am, and drove/rode a train for 7 hours to get there and that was exhausting. I highly recommend Gate1, my 3rd trip with them.

My best friend and I recently booked a trip to Greece with Gate 1 Travel. I was pretty nervous about booking because I did not know much about this company. Most of the reviews I read were pretty good but I still was nervous. This agency surpassed all of my expectations. The booking agent was extremely helpful when ordering our trip. He was friendly and answered any questions I had. If he did not know, he found out and called me back within that day. You can review all hotels before you book which is a huge plus in my book. Our trip consisted of Gate 1 booking all hotels, flights, and transportation but we booked all excursions on our own. I was extremely impressed by Gate 1. We were going to have a six hour layover in Athens before we left for Santorini and we had no idea what we were going to do for that length of time. When we met the Gate 1 representative at the airport, he shared with us that they had reserved us a room at the hotel across the street so we could sleep, eat, and freshen up. It was the best surprise. All the Gate 1 representatives in our three locations were helpful. We received a packet of information with their phone numbers/contact information, as well as details of things to do and see in the area plus transportation information. Another surprise we had was we booked a flight from Mykonos to Athens and decided to lose the money on our ferry so we had more time in Athens at the end of our trip. Our Gate 1 representative in Mykonos scheduled a pickup for us early in the morning to the airport since we would not be using the bus pickup to the ferry later in the day. All the hotels we stayed at were extremely nice as well. I want to thank Gate 1. One of the biggest stresses of planning on overseas trip is booking the hotels and transportation; the ease of booking with Gate 1 made this trip easy, memorable, and fun. I highly recommend booking with them.

Recently returned from a Gate 1, 10 day trip to Croatia and Slovenia and it was wonderful. I selected the land only tour meeting the group at the Marco Polo airport—no problems. Every aspect of the trip from hotel selection, included and optional tours, included meals, suggestions to best use free time was great. We even had a complimentary dinner with entertainment on day 3. The program leader, Bliz, was a seasoned professional from the counties with a great sense of humor and kept the group laughing especially waiting to clear border crossings.

We just returned from Colombia, South America with Gate 1 Travel. The trip was nice but the service provided by Gate 1 was above and beyond. We had bad weather in Dallas and Carolyn, the supervisor, had to re-book all our flights and she was able to wave any penalties. When we finally arrived a day late to join our tour, they had a driver pick us up and deliver us to the current site with our group. John, our tour director, was fantastic. He made all the arrangements. When our luggage finally arrived 4 days late, John had someone escort us to and from the airport to retrieve the bags. Gate 1 made what could have been a disaster for my husband and I instead seamless!!

Went on a 10 day European trip with Gate one. I previously travelled with insight tour to Spain. Both companies are good, but Gate one definitely meets their mission statement of travelling the world for less. Our tour guide annemarrie was friendly and knowledgable and tour itinerary was well planned. There are optional tours that adds to the cost, but I think its the same with other companies. I would travel with them again.

I recently returned from a 14 day Classic Spain and Portugal tour. It was a wonderful trip. Andres, our trip guide was outstanding. I would travel with him anywhere. His wealth of knowledge was unbelievable. His love for his native Portugal was contagious. And his attention to detail above average. Antonio, our bus driver, was a real "sweetie," very shy but an excellent driver. All the local guides were above average as well. The first half of the trip was pretty rainy and miserable, but we all made the best of the situation and slogged about regardless. All the hotels, with the exception of the last one, were also above average. The provided meals were abundant and tasty. I will have to say that I learned more about the places and people I visited than I have on any other trip I have made. I don't know if this is the norm for Gate 1, or if it was due to the superior guides we had throughout. In any case, Gate1 put together a trip package that I feel gave me full value in cost and beyond value in expectation.

My wife and I just returned from the 13 day Turkish Treasures motor coach tour arranged by Gate 1 Travel. It's hard to expand on the favorable comments already mentioned in this forum by other travelers. The guide, Ilhami, was spot on, the hotels were 4 and 5 star, the meals were abundant and delicious, the driver was professional and all went like clockwork. The price of the tour was truly worth every penny......I hope Gate 1 managed to eke out a profit! Looking forward to our next tour.

I went to Ecuador and the Amazons with Gate 1 Travel in November, 2014, it was a great experience. Traveled in the Andes, see a lot of the native life and then to the Amazon in the southeast of the country, near Tena, Ecuador, to the jungles along the Napo River. Our tour guide Marcelo is very knowledgeable, very pleasant, very helpful, do a lot of extra little things to make our trip enjoyable. All hotels are fantastic, Hilton in Quito, resorts nestled in the Andes, with hot spring, and one by the beautiful lake side( Laguna San Pablo), and one up on a cliff by the Napo River in the Amazon. All meals are very delicious, most meals are covered. With the reasonable price we paid, I don't know how Gate 1 can give us so much at that price. I got more than my money's worth. This is the second time I travel with Gate 1, last time went to Turkey, same great experience with all aspects of the trip. I'll recommend any one to travel with Gate 1 if you have not done so, you will not be disappointed. If you have traveled with Gate 1, keep on doing it! Travel with Gate 1 is truly as their motto: More of the world for less!!

Our recent trip with Gate One Travel to Peru to visit Machu Picchu was perfect, special and unforgettable. One of the best travel experiences we've had. The selection of the hotels, restaurants, transportation, etc. were exceptional. The highlight of the trip was our Tour Manager, Carlos Yepez. He went overboard with attentions and was well versed on the history of Peru, the Incas and Machu Picchu. He made sure we all felt safe and took care of our well-being. We took the Classic Italy tour 10/24-11/01/14. Tour includes not only Rome, Florence and Venice but visits to Assisi and Pisa! The bus was so comfortable and even had Wifi! We also had a trip to a countryside restaurant and a trip to a winery. The tour guide Francesca was very organized, knowledgeable, friendly. The local guides were also excellent and took time to explain various works of arts and monuments. Hotels, food and entertainment were better than expected. Overall, it was a fabulous experience for me and my wife. We recommend this tour strongly.

Fall of 2014 we took the plunge and traveled with a new (to us) tour company - Gate 1 Travel. Since that country had always been on my short list, my wife and I booked the 12 Day Classic Vietnam tour led by guide Vuong or "Rex" as he allowed us to call him. My hesitation about traveling with a larger group was quickly eased as Rex managed to coral us efficiently and affectively. Since our guide was a local (from Hanoi) we got many valuable insights into the country that we wouldn't have gotten on our own. It was so relaxing to have all of the intra-country travel arrangements handled which gave us the maximum amount of time to experience all that Vietnam has to offer. Accommodations were comfortable - no complaints. The optional tours are really wonderful and we thought, a good value. This tour combines just the right amount of supervision and free time. We weren't surprised to find many of our fellow travelers were Gate 1 alumni! We are already researching a new destination with Gate 1 for travel with friends celebrating a momentous birthday. We're confident that they will love traveling with this company as much as we do!

We just returned from a 10 day Classic Russia trip with Gate 1. Given all the tensions, we were a bit worried. We needn't have been. Gate 1 covered it all-from pickup at the airport, to the hotel transfers. Our guide was amazing-a history professor at St Petersburg. The locations and the moving from city to city were flawless. I could not have asked for more. Great trip, great value, I hope to travel with Gate 1 again. I did contact customer service several times prior to the trip and always found them to be very helpful.

I just returned from 18 days in India with Gate 1. It was an amazing trip and I give Gate 1 a 10 out of 10. The guide was great. Very knowledgeable and very accommodating. The itinerary was also great. We were very busy but not too busy. There is not even 1 negative I can find about the entire experience. And the added bonus (for there is no control), we had a "perfect" group of people an "perfect" weather. The only rainy day, was a travel day in a bus so it really did not matter. Also, we saw 5 tigers in Ranthombore when many groups never even see 1. Our guide, the local guide, and the driver worked very hard to find us the tigers. We even saw a mother and her 2 cubs.I highly recommend the trip

When you get a great deal on something, it hard not to have doubts. Although I had never traveled with Gate1, my best friend had, and the deal we got for our recent trip to Europe (The Netherlands, Belgium, and France) was irresistible. I figured they cut costs by having the bare minimum in transportation, guides, and accommodations, but I could not have been more wrong. The accommodations were fantastic. In each city, they seemed to get better and better. The hotel staff was helpful, friendly, and well organized. The hotels were centrally located, within walking distance of major tourist attractions, and in safe areas. Our couch driver and guide were both experienced, well-spoken (in up to 7 languages), and very friendly. Not only had they been there for a long time, but they clearly loved what they do. They were detail-oriented and kept us on our schedule. One of the greatest parts of this tour was that it appealed to people from all over the country with varying levels of comfort traveling. We covered coast-to-coast in state representation, and everyone came with a different story. Don't let the cost deter youthere is no catch. It is a great deal with quality service. Happy travels!

Gate1 and the Tour Guide made arrangements to keep us busy, visit all places on the itinerary and more and just made the absolute best out of a bad situation. We have already booked another trip with them because of the way they handled a bad situation and turned it into something pleasant.

We just came back from a 12 day vacation to Greece including a 4 day cruise of the Greek Islands. This was a trip of a lifetime thanks to Gate 1 Travel. Gate 1 took care of us every step of the way. I scheduled this Gate 1 10 day Peru tour based on a family member’s satisfactory experience with a Gate 1 European tour. The 10 day Peru tour was wonderful- efficiently and professionally run, interesting sights, great accommodations and transportation, and most of all the best guides. All local guides were competent in their knowledge of their domain and in their command of English, but most impressive was Edgard Figueroa, our guide, friend, teacher and physician throughout the 10 days. I peppered him with questions that he never seemed to tire of answering and when I was ailing from a stomach problem, he produced just the right pill that cured me within 30 minutes. The tour was not at a leisurely pace, and I am of retirement age, but it was very manageable with more rigorous days alternating with more leisurely days. On the basis of this tour, my first Gate 1 tour, I would be happy to book another.

Returned from an amazing adventure with Gate 1 Discovery Tours to Morocco, Moroccan Allure. The whole experience from booking to returning home was great. Gate 1 made the trip hassle free. The tour guide in Morocco Larbi was excellent. He was knowledgeable, personable, professional and a very nice person. The accommodations were comfortable and for the most part the locations were very good. I saw all of the important sights and learned much about the Moroccan culture and history. The local family hosted dinner in Fez was a great treat. Loved the experience in the desert. I enjoyed all of the sights, sounds of Morocco. I cannot say any one experience was the highlight as all were interesting. Would highly recommend this tour and Gate 1 Discovery Tours. I will definately consider Gate 1 for my next trip.

Our second trip with Gate1 and a great experience. Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Yellowstone Park, Grand Teton Park, and Salt Lake City. Our Tour Director (Muriel) was on top of everything and our driver (Paul) was excellent. We had a fun group and all enjoyed the travel despite quite a bit of time in the bus which could not be helped due to the location. Our first trip was to China which was also great and we now check out all the Gate1 trips and plan to do more.

Our cruise down the Danube River was fantastic! We had a fabulous time! The tour guides were very well organized and they worked very hard to make everything run very smoothly. They were always cheerful and helpful. The food on the Amadeus Royal was gourmet, and thankfully the portions were on the small side which allowed us to try many different dishes! The weather was perfect, only one morning of rain (until around 10 am) and we loved sitting out on the sun deck to enjoy the view. What a peaceful ride down the Danube! We learned so much about the history of the Old World, we feel that we have really grown in our understanding about the countries along the Danube. When we got to Budapest, we were surprised with a bottle of champagne, a bottle of water and two delicious pieces of cake and a note from the management of the Hilton congratulating us on our 40th wedding anniversary! They could have known about our anniversary only through Gate 1! Thank you very much for helping us to set up such a memorable trip. We are so glad that we chose Gate 1!

Just completed a Gate1 tour of Portugal and Spain. The hotels were all 4 star and in great locations. The itinerary provided an opportunity to see all the major cities and attractions. Also included side trips to the Rock of Gibraltar and Morocco. The tour director was wonderful. She had extensive knowledge of all the cities on the tour.

We just returned from China. This was our 3rd time with Gate 1 and again, we found them to be a fantastic host. Our tour guide Annie was superb in that she was attentive to our needs, spoke excellent English, was friendly and had a great sense of humor. My wife and I went on a 10 day tour to Peru in June, 2014 with Gate 1. We have been to 30 countries, and always do it independently (most recently Panama in March, 2014). However, when I considered the logistics involved (inter-county flights, train to Macchu Picchu, boat on Lake Titicaca), the altitude changes (0 feet in Lima to over 12,000 feet at the Lake), and the fact we would be spending multiple nights in the Amazon jungle on our own prior to starting our tour of Peru, I decided to give Gate 1 a try. It was a good decision. We did not use them for our flights to or from Peru, or for our airport transports. None of the 24 members of our tour had used Gate 1 before. We were all pleased. The danger of group travel is landing with a group of people that you hate. Gate 1 did everything possible to break down walls and help us bond. The tour manager was excellent in this regard. Although we ranged in age from 15 to 70, we truly became a cohesive, caring family. The hotels, meals, buses, and guides were top knotch. We could definitely not have seen as much on our own in this amount of time. I would highly recommend Gate 1 for any trips to Peru. Thank you. Stephen Stewart, Chicago.

I just returned from the 12-day Affordable Croatia and Slovenia tour. I had a great time. Blaz, our escort/guide, a big man with a booming voice, did an amazing job of making the tour interesting and fun. There was plenty of free time to explore on your own. A surprise complimentary dinner and lunch not included in the itinerary! The hotels were exemplary; although I was traveling solo, I got double rooms. I took both optional tours to the Istria Peninsula and Montenegro and recommend them highly. When we had local guides, we used earphones supplied by Gate 1, and were able to hear clearly even when at some distance from the guide.

Ecuador was completely amazing, nearly perfection! I loved every second of it. This was my first time travel out of country alone (if you consider in a tour group "alone") so I had a few worries beforehand, but they were all laid to rest from Miami airport onward. All the reservations and activities went smoothly, and our tour guide, Juan Carlos, was awesome. He was pretty much the tour papa - besides giving us a ridiculous amount of information on history and politics and geology and plant/animal species and art (seriously, this guy knows everything), he also was really enthusiastic about just making sure everyone was cool and wasn't having any problems and tossing out tidbits of fatherly advice in some situations. Our driver, Israel, was a great guy too, always smiling and moving that huge tour bus down tiny, crowded colonial streets and up insanely steep hills like a pro. The hotels were beautiful, and the staff at each one was happy and friendly and helpful. Hacienda Manteles was particularly great with spot on service, a homey feel, a wonderful view of the volcano, and delicious food. The diversity of activities made the trip a lot of fun and kept any day from feeling repetitive. There were always new things to see and do and learn, and I think a good balance between scheduled activities and optional activities for leisure time. And of course, Ecuador itself was absolutely breathtaking. The only downside was that we were only there for a week! Thank you for an amazing tour! I will definitely be using Gate 1 for my next trip!

14 day Classic South Africa with Victoria Falls --The trip was wonderful. The cultural experiences (Cultural diversity tour, home-hosted dinner, visit to the school in Swaziland) were unforgettable. They were an excellent addition to the trip. Capetown was beautiful, the safari rides and cruises were excellent. Victoria Falls was awesome. A word to the wise -- skip The Boma at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. It was overpriced and not the experience that was advertised. Arthur's recommendation to extend the Kruger game drive to all day was spot on. As usual, Gate 1 Travel, through Arthur, handled everything without a hitch. Even the bus break-down was handled with class and patience. Thanks again! We love traveling with Gate 1!!!!

This was my first time traveling with Gate1. Sister-in-law suggested we go to Morocco with Gate1 as she has traveled with them before, so 6 of our family went. Wow - it was such an exotic destination and fantastic trip that my daughter took over 2,500 photos. In fact, it was such a great value that I came home an evangelist telling everyone I meet to check out and travel with Gate1. It is the only way I want to travel around the world and can't wait to book my next trip with them. What I love about them: They offer an incredibly great value - flight out of New York to Morocco on Royal Air Maroc was first class; the superlative service by Gate1 guides and representatives at every step of our trip was so appreciated from the moment we landed to helping us leave Morocco; nice hotels (3-4 star was a pleasant surprise); very well conceived itineraries for seeing the most important/beautiful/interesting sites/cities and places; breakfast daily and many other meals i.e. lunch and dinners at several points throughout the trip were included; fantastic guides; very modern/comfortable touring motor coach with panoramic windows, air-conditioning - it was so comfortable that I was able to catch up on my sleep traveling between cities while gazing at the beautiful Moroccan countryside, unique towns and historic ruins along the way... again, all for a very compelling price. We also opted to take all the extra excursions and were thrilled with each and every one. The best ones were taking the Jeep caravan to ride camels on the ridges of the gorgeous ochre-colored wind-swept sand dunes of the Moroccan Sahara desert, at sunset - Amazing! Also the romantic horse carriage ride through Marrakech to an incredibly beautiful Rabat with a 5 star meal and wonderful entertainment was just as awesome. Our lovely and charismatic guide Ibrahim (he's in the Gate1 video for Morocco) was with us the entire trip, watching out for us, proudly sharing the rich history and culture of his progressive country, and personally escorting us through the market place labyrinths and historic sites... The Moroccan "hacienda" we stayed at near the Sahara was breath-taking... loved every minute of this trip. Saw Roman ruins, the most incredible architecture, giant storks roosting at one Roman site made you feel like you were in Jurasic Park! We traveled in late May/early June - the weather was perfection - mid 70s! Also the travel agenda has been well honed by Gate1 so that we were not rushed between sight-seeing destinations and we stayed 2-3 days at important or gorgeous locations so that we could absorb the ambiance. If this is how all Gate1 trips are run, this is the only way I want to travel around the world! Just saw their recent email of 12 upcoming trips in the US and abroad - I now want to take every one of them!!! Well done Gate1 - you've made me and our family loyal customers.

My recent ‘6 Day Florida with Key West’ trip with Gate 1 Travel was a very nice experience. The tour group included 10 travelers, all very nice people, two excellent tour guides and a very professional bus driver. The highlights were the air boat ride in the Everglades and the tour of Key West, which provided the opportunity to visit the Hemingway house. Two places, which I would have missed had I traveled alone, were the ‘Robert Is Here’ fruit stand in Homestead and the Coral Castle in Florida City. Both these places tell a very interesting story. The sightseeing in Miami and South Beach was also interesting. The two hour stop at the Lincoln Street shopping mall less so. This was my 3rd trip with Gate 1 and, again, they delivered above expectations.

I did a 10-day independent Greek Isle Tour package. I loved it! I also appreciated that local representatives met us at each location. I thought it was also great to have the same itinerary with other Gate 1 travelers. The only thing I wish I knew ahead of time was that the ferry from Santorini back to Athens was so long. All of us (the other parties) booked flights instead once we got there so we could see some of Athens.

We went on the 13 Day Kasbahs & Deserts of Morocco tour with Gate 1 and we loved it. Our Tour Director Rachid was terrific. He had a lot of knowledge and as well when you had special requests he would do everything to fulfill them. When we arrived at the Sahara dessert for our camel ride, we were a bit unlucky that we got a downpour and the ride had to be cancelled. What was very impressive is that Rachid together with Gate 1 organized 34 camels and we got our ride 4 days later in the sand dunes on the beach. The hotels were good to excellent. A trip we certainly will recommend to our friends and we did already book other trips with Gate 1.

We took the 15 Day Classic India with Rathambore in January 2016. We have traveled independently to India many times over the past 40 years. However, now that we are in our 70s we decided we didn't want the hassles of doing everything on our own and decided to try this tour because we still like going there. We were so pleasantly surprised at how nearly perfect everything was that we've signed up for South India in November! The guide was superb, every stop was wonderful and despite having been to most places, we learned plenty of new things. The hotels were all excellent and the daily breakfasts were also. We thought we were done with India but since Gate 1 does such a great tour, we can still keep going! Our first trip with them was to South Africa which was also so wonderful we decided it was time to trust in tours which we shunned when we were younger!

Just returned from a Danube River cruise in early May that was arranged by Gate1 Travel. Cannot express enough how well everything was organized and how well our needs were served during this trip. Our Tour Director on the boat - Krisztina Almasi - did a wonderful job, along with her team, of supporting the needs of all travelers. We added two extra days in Budapest at the end of the cruise and were placed in the Hilton West End. We found the hotel more than satisfactory, and, again, Kate Laurenszky, the Gate1 representative, looked after all of our needs in a most professional and engaging way.The service and amenities on the boat - the Amadeus Royal - were great. We would definitely book another tour with Gate1 in the future.

I went on 10 affordable trip to China with Gate 1 Travel. Everything was beyond expectations. The price was affordable, and we got to see the major attractions: The Forbidden City, the Pandas, climbed the great wall, the Terra Cota Soldiers, Shanghai and much more. I left feeling that I knew much more about the culture and the way of life than I ever expected to learn. 13 Day Essential Turkey, April 2014 A group of eight friends from Australia and US joined Gate1 tour for the first time to Turkey and Greece. We didn't know what to expect. Good job Gate1, it exceeded our expectations in every way. The hotels, the itinerary, the optional tours were all well planned and meaningful. The tour director, Faruk Ayaz was outstanding, well spoken, well organized. Everything ran so smooth, and pleasant throughout the trip. He was like a walking encyclopedia of Turkish history, politic & culture. His Turkish jokes were well delivered. He made our trip really memorable. Our driver, Ekram also was the best, very pleasant, courteous, and amazing in his driving skill. The hotels were good and ideally located to all the tourist places within a walking distance. All in all, we were very happy and pleased with our Gate1 experience and look forward to the next destination with Gate1 soon.

A Great Travel Company I must have taken at least half-a-dozen trips with this Company, all over the world, and almost each time they've exceeded my expectations. I had to learn what to expect as a difference between "fully escorted" and "independent" tours and "regular" and "small group" tours but I have to admit that in each category of tours offered the service it at the highest comparative level for that class. I also appreciate their wide variety of offers for visit activities. I like very "full" tours, where the add-ons offered exceed the time available. That way, I can be sure that I will never get bored - evidently, I am the tourist that visits everything rather that the kind that looks for a relaxed, on the beach, "restful" vacation. I want to learn and see as much as humanly possible and Gate 1 offers me all I can handle. Their guides are the best in the business and their tours are organized with military precision. Price-wise, the detailing the price breakdown for flight, accommodation, add-on visits, etc., allows for a very clear and complete image of the total costs likely to be incurred. And again, in competition with other travel agencies, Gate 1 comes on top. Often times, they negotiate or take advantage of special airfares and the client gets the savings. Admirably honest. I am looking forward to my next trip with Gate 1 in the very near future. Thank you, Gate 1! Keep up the good work!

My husband and I just returned from a 15 Day Cambodia and Vietnam Trip with Gate ! Travel. This was our second trip with Gate 1. The group consisted of 9 in Cambodia and 36 in Vietnam and although the group was larger in Vietnam, Gate 1 provided "Whispers" - earphones that allowed everyone to hear the guide as he was speaking about the various sites we visited. We were pleasantly surprised that the group size did not detract from the enjoyment of the trip. The optional day trips allowed the participants flexibility to choose their own experience, rest or travel or join the optional day trip. I think the highlight of the trip was Gate1's guides. They were outstanding - knowledgeable, great story tellers, personable, courteous and very attentive to personal needs. Thank you Gate 1 for a wonderful experience.

TEN STARS **********. I just returned from an 11 Day Enchanting Italy tour with Gate 1 Travel (Venice, Florence, Rome, Sorrento). This trip was our first group travel trip and we selected Gate 1 because of the wonderful reviews from previous travelers. Sometimes you wonder if the trip was "really all that" when you read the reviews....and I can tell you, yes, you can believe the reviews. This trip EXCEEDED ALL MY EXPECTATIONS, and being that this trip was on my "bucket list", I had pretty high expectations. My booking agent (Barbara) was so wonderful and patient, helping us through first time traveler "jitters" and our "one million" questions. The tour manager (Marisa) was an absolute jewel and made this an unforgettable experience ("hello, hello, hello" to you Marisa we all love you so much!). The whole Gate1 team (bus drivers and local tour guides) were exceptional. Although group tours might be a logistical nightmare (...like herding cats...), the staff of Gate 1 made the whole experience seamless and easy and fun. And finally, a big thanks to Francesca for making us feel right home when several of us joined your group to head to Sorrento. Bottom line, if you are planning to take a group tour, be sure you use Gate 1! It will be a trip of a lifetime.

We took a 10 day combination Danube River and land tour in early October 2014 that originated in Nuremberg, Germany and ended in Budapest, Hungary. All the travel arrangements were seamless. Our Gate 1 ship tour coordinators were very friendly and accommodating, especially for those travelers with special needs. The local tour guides for each place we visited spoke excellent English and educated us in the local culture, traditions, history, art and architecture of the places we were visiting. The ship's accommodations were comfortable. The service provided by the ship's staff was friendly and very responsive to our requests. There were a variety of after dinner entertainment activities and music provided by a dynamic duo. There was always a variety of menu choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This was our first river cruise and we are looking forward to booking future European river travel through Gate 1 Travel.

Had a great time on the Venice, Florence, and Rome trip. We loved our little excursion in the Tuscany countryside tour. Wine tour and the little cities were so wonderful. After having an excellent experience setting up the trip 11 months prior, we followed up with a terrific 14 Day trip to Italy!!! Every logistic was met on time, and in a way that exceeded all of our expectations. Our Tour Guide was OUTSTANDING!!! - Knowledgeable, Professional, Fully in Control and Very Personable - we truly respected and loved her!!! Our accommodations were complete, comfortable, strategically located and all of the staffs were attentive to our Gate 1 Group. Our Tour Guides were Fantastic - Knowledgeable, yet Personable and Funny too - kept us interested for each tour and actually made it Fun listening to an incredible amount of detail. The food and drink at each provided meal were delicious and unending - yet with all the exercise (walking), we still lost 3 lbs (via pedometer we calculated that we walked 10 miles alone, during our 1st Day (6 hr) Tour of Rome). The special Events - Tuscan Dinner, Opera Dinner, Winery Luncheon - were well done, and Laugh-Out-Loud Fun. The combination of our Tour Guide and our Bus Driver, were even able to make the "Road Trips" comfortable, easy, interesting and Fun. What more can I say - being the 1st time on a tour and 1st time out of the Country, Gate 1 made it sooooo easy and soooo much Fun yet so complete!!

Just got back from a Discovery Tour of Patagonia in February. I have traveled a number of Gate 1 trips, including Gate 1 and their smaller group size, Discovery, and this trip was one of my favorites. I have never experienced such a nice blend of worlds that included several countries (Argentina and Chile) showing us a full range of experiences from the city of Buenos Aires, to the remote areas of Chile, including landing on Cape Horn. Our guide (Gabe) was very knowledgable, with an easy, good sense of humor, and we were both well prepared and enjoyed the experience. Our ship for four days was unbeatable, and I will never forget the images and experiences. I would recommend this trip!

I have traveled 40 countries and have had numerous tours and guides. It took me a lot of countries, trips and companies to find a guide as excellent as Nina. She made the trip one of the best if not the best trip I have ever taken. I cannot rave about her enough. She not only managed every part of our trip making us comfortable, sharing personal stories, enlightening us about her culture but she made us feel like family and a close friend that we have known forever, even though we just met. I was so impressed by her, which also made me impressed in Gate1 right off the bat, A truly a remarkable vacation. This was my first Gate 1 tour and experience with Gate 1......I was so happy with Nina and Gate 1 that I actually bought the living social deal for Thailand through Gate 1 for March of next year. Although Nina will forever be in my mind as the best tour guide and manager ever, I am excited to see who awaits for us in Thailand. Nina is the "boots on the ground" for Gate 1 and in business you really need people that are compassionate, intelligent, resourceful, fun and just plain care. She far exceeded everyone of those qualities. She brought a freshness as if we were the 1st guest she had ever had-- which is really amazing. It was not like she was going through the motions. She was living our vacation with us. I was also very impressed by her attention to those guest that sometimes chose to be, let's say difficult. She was able to accommodate and deal with anything thrown at her with a smile and rose to all occasions when needed. I have never seen a tour guide handle difficult passengers with the ease and care that she did. Nina is amazing. I appreciate her so much that if she was in the US, I would hire her immediately to run a business unit for me. As far as the actually vacation, it is really hard to speak about it without Nina. The sites, culture and travel would not have been the same without her. The itinerary was great, kept us busy while still having time to relax. Nina kept everyone informed, and hydrated (which was important with the record heat). We did all the optional tours which were great! We loved the Great Wall and Terra Cotta Warriors & Horses. In XIAN, we had a local guide named Jenny that was also phenomenal, I know she doesn't work directly for Gate1 but she is a credit to your sourcing of guides. She was very informative, intelligent, well spoken and caring. Jenny made the XIAN portion like she was a part of Gate1, flawless interaction with the group and Nina. Like they had been together with us for years.... Like Friends. China will always have a special place in our heart- thanks to Nina.

This was our second trip to Italy with Gate 1 and it will not be our last. We were on the 14-day trip two years ago and our most recent trip to Sicily was just as enjoyable. You need to visit Sicily to experience the rich culture created by the Romans, Greeks, Spaniards, and Normans etc. The food and wine although different than Italy was amazing! I can’t say enough about our Tour Director, Flavia, who was an important ingredient to the enjoyment of our trip. She was extremely knowledgeable, always there when you needed her and added that extra touch. Looking forward to our next trip with Gate 1.

We were thrilled with our recent vacation booked through Gate 1 Travel. Venice for 2 nights followed by a wonderful RCL cruise to Greek Islands and Montenegro. The hotel Abbazia was just as a Venetian hotel should be -- quaint and with lovely people who work there. It was a converted monastery. There was the original wooden Pulpit in the lobby. Rooms were roomy and clean. Transfers from and to airport were included. And if there are any problems (which we really didn't encounter), the concierges can call the local Gate 1 office to solve them. You just can't beat the price that Gate 1 offers for their trips -- and they cover everything. We will definitely will use Gate 1 very often in the future. We usually travel with family and use at least two rooms. Our next trip may be London. We also want to do another cruisetour in Europe.

Machi Picchu, Peru....I took a trip to Peru with Gate 1 travel.... I had never done a tour trip before and this was excellent... The guide was well organized, great sense of humor, well educated about all the areas we went to and made sure that everyone in the group was well cared for. The sense of humor was the best and his wisdom about what we should do and not do was outstanding. I highly recommend Gate 1 travel for their highly professional way of doing tours... Any questions I had before the trip were answered quickly and covered any concerns I might have had. I would travel with them again......

My wife and I recently returned from a Gate1 escorted tour of Peru. This was our first time using Gate 1 and without a doubt, this was the best-guided tour we have taken. The team assembled by Gate 1 (Mauricio our Tour Manager; Victor Tour Assistant; and Edwin our dedicated Driver) was outstanding!! The tours included in our itinerary were great as well as our visit to an elementary school on the outskirts of Cusco. We were I so impressed with the school that I submitted a paper to be included in our weekly on-line newspaper entitled ”Improving Life through Travel, Education & Cultural Exchange” via Gate 1. Of course, our visit to Machu Picchu was breathtaking; one would have to see it for themselves to understand what it took to build such a place. I would recommend the 7 Day Classic Peru Tour to anyone interested in learning more about the Sacred Valley and the history of the Peruvian people what it meant to the Inca way of life. We salute Gate 1 in provinding an opportunity for us to learn about the ancient Inca ways...

I went on a 9 day tour to Ecuador and it was a great and unforgettable experience. Gate 1 Travel exceeded my expectations which made everything worry-free. Booking on their website is very easy or even if you call, their staff is very kind and helpful. We recently returned from a Gate 1 independent Costa Rica adventure which provided 5 nights at the all-inclusive Puntarenas Doubletree Hilton, a rental car for the duration, and airfare from Atlanta. The documents provided from Gate 1 were all we needed. We went onto the airplane site and entered our frequent flyer numbers and printed our boarding passes. Everything was as seamless as could be expected from our first time visiting this country. We wholeheartedly recommend Gate 1 and will definitely use them again.

We just came back from Iceland where we did a 5 day 4 night tour. Our itinerary was accurate and our tour guide, Gulla, was amazing. She took very good care of us! The hotel we stayed at in Reykjavik was nice, as well. We had no problems with our flights going and when our flights out of Iceland were canceled due to a snow storm, Gate1 helped get us back home. We will definitely be using Gate 1 again.

First trip with Gate 1. Affordable 10 day Peru. I would have to say that we were completely satisfied with the experience. We only planned the trip a few weeks in advance and the customer service prior to the trip was great. The trip itinerary and travel paperwork was informational and helpful. We had one Gate 1 representative/guide with us the whole trip once we ariived in Peru, which covered multiple in-country destinations and air/bus travel. The hotel accomodations were very comfortable. We were on a plan B, A was already sold out so I can't speak to those accomodations. The meals were all very good with plenty of opportunities to sample local quisine. The group was a very manageable (19) size and pretty diverse age wise. Plenty of opportunities to either join an optional tour, or see the sights on our own. Again we were extremely pleased with the experience, I know this is just a thunbnail overview but we will definitely seek out Gate 1 again for future travel plans.

I just recently took a trip to Iceland with Gate 1 Travel. The agent that booked my trip was awesome. He thought of everything, consulted me on whether on purchasing separate trips ahead of time, or how to to get to the hotel from the airport. I had so many questions about the trip and he was able to answer all of my questions. I was blown away by how competent and how super friendly the staff was. I was flying from the West Coast and the Trip I book started from the East Coast, they provided me with the extra flight for a very small cost. Gate 1 continues to excel my expectations. My recent 15 day Kaleidoscope tour of Central Europe will be unforgettable. The tour guide Michael Paier is a polymath in European History. He made the history of the countries we visited come alive. There wasn’t one single flaw in the planning and execution of the tour. And how about the bus driver? Mr. Wojtek was always polite, courteous and helpful with our belongings. He knows the routes and roads very well driving us safely to all our destinations. The hotels were all 5 star hotels and centrally located. The optional tours added to the enrichment of the trip. The dinners that were included in the package were so enjoyable that I can’t remember when was the last time I had so much fun. Thank you Gate 1! You are indeed numero 1!

We went on a 8 day trip to Italy, during month of June and we used Gate 1,It was our first time ever using Gate 1. Their customer service was excellent, The hotels and arrangements was one of the best, their guides were very friendly and most of all a honest bunch of people. My daughter forgot her iphone in the van that dropped us to the airport. Hearing all the horror stories of pickpockets etc in Italy, we had almost given up. We just called the Gate 1 local office in Rome, they tracked the driver and had the driver come all the way back to the airport to give it back to us. We were very impressed by their professionalism. Our whole family enjoyed the trip. We recommend Gate 1 to any one.

Wife and I went on a 11 Day Affordable Croatia & Slovenia Tour from Gate 1, on March 1. The trip was amazing. Tour took us through Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and Slovenia. The countries were amazingly beautiful. Every city/town was had either amazing scenic views of the Adriatica, lakes, or mountains. They had history and culture as the area was heavily influenced by the Romans and the Venetians. The food was amazing, especially the live seafood. Everything over there was incredibly great for what you were receiving. In Pula, my wife and I had pizza, a pasta, and two drinks of good food for $11. Wife bought a whole winter wardrobe in Kotor(spelling ??) for $150. The hotels selected by Gate 1 were great. They had lake or ocean view and a great continental breakfast. The driver and the tour guides were great. My wife especially loved Peter who was funny and knowledgeable. The people on the tours were great; most repeat customers of Gate 1. We highly recommend Gate 1, as you really do receive an amazing value for what you pay. We also gone to Italy and Spain with Gate 1, and will be traveling with them later this year for Germany/Austria/Switzerland and another tour for Greece.

I fully enjoyed my trip to Europe. My family did the Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels and London Tour. Gate 1 Travel provided excellent accomodations. He did just the right amount of talking (some guides we've had with other companies drone on and on). The destinations and hotels were great too. We love going off season because there was no waiting in lines. We went on 2 of the optional tours and were glad we did. The Pula tour was very interesting and a nice addition to our trip (and there wouldn't have been much else to do in Opatjia anyway, in the event we had opted to stay there for the day). The Montenegro tour was terrific too! A fun day with some great sights to see there. All-in-all it was a wonderful trip! The thing we especially like about Gate 1 is that we make one call, send a check and show up. They do all the rest. This is our 4th trip with them but it won't be our last.

Took a 10 day tour with Gate 1 to Ireland on 9/28/14. Gate 1 did an exceptional job of organizing the tour and the tour guide, Evelyn was the best! Both she and the bus driver, Brendon did everything to make the trip enjoyable and fun. Rarely do long tours go as planned but this time it went smoothly from the very first event, flight from Atlanta to Dublin to the return trip home. The hotels were all 4 and 5 star. The meals provided were both authentic Irish and good. The stops were well chosen and Evelyn was able to speak to any subject related to Ireland. Her years of experience showed. We took a side trip via rail from Dublin to Belfast to visit the Titanic Quarter (museum). It went smoothly and the museum is a must see for anyone interested in that part of history. We will book with Gate 1 again.

I Just came back from Ireland with Gate1 Travel and had the most wonderful trip. The in my group were from all over the country, the hotels and people of Ireland were friendly. The country itself is beautiful these pictures you see of green landscape is all abound. The host Director Marie was wonderful she made sure everyone was happy and content. I can not say which part of Ireland was best because I loved all of it.

This is our 5th tour with Gate 1. Our 10 day affordable Spain was just GREAT! We were marveled by the sights and sceneries from Madrid, Toledo, Granada, Cordoba, Seville and Barcelona. Our Tour guide, Nico, did an excellent job making our trip memorable and pleasant thru out. He has an easy going and funny personality. Cesar, our driver, kept us all safe and secure. He made the bus drive bearable. Our local guides were knowledgeable and professional. It takes a while getting used to their “siesta” since most tours end before lunch. We wish we had some all day tours that could have made the trip better in value. The hotels were ample to provide the necessities. The Barcelona Hotel was far the best location of all. Food was excellent and of course the wine and sangria. Overall, a trip to r and surely make us go back in the future. Gate 1 did an excellent job on this one again!
