Daniel was an awesome tour guide! We had a great time on our tour of the garden district. He was very knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. Would absolutely recommend a private tour!
Jen Perlee
Andrew F was a great tour guide on our garden district tour. The the tour was very informative. Our group was rather large so they ended up splitting it into two groups calling in a last minute extra guide. This made the tour more enjoyable than a really big group it felt more personal than other tours I’ve done. Andrew really knows his stuff and respected the area trying to not be in the way of locals. Highly recommend freetoursbyfoot.

Sandy Hester was such an awesome tour guide! She not only helped give us valuable history but also some amazing recommendations for local spots! Couldn’t recommend her more!! She not only knows the history, the correct information, but also her humor added to our experience! We will look her up on our next trip! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We did 3 tours with her! So worth it!

My friend and I did two Walking Tours with Free Tours by Foot while we were in New Orleans. We started with The Garden District. This was a stunning and informative tour - our guide was amazing and knowledgeable.
We also did the New Orleans Ghosts tour in the French Quarter - it was a lot of fun and our guide was lovely.
If you are going to take advantage of these tours - please please tip well. I saw entirely too many people leaving without tipping at all, which was quite astonishing to me. Think of what most other tour guide companies would cost, and recognize you're getting an amazing deal.
These guides work hard and deserve to be compensated, so bring some cash and be ready to enjoy yourselves!
Dwight Kenneth
Sandy was a super wonderful tour guide. Very informative and professional! Sandy also had a great sense of humor! Highly recommend taking a walking tour of the city and the rich history of the French Quarters .

If you are interested in the Voodoo tour, definitely go for the one by Priest Robi, he shares about his Voodoo religion and his family traditions with genuine passion. You can check out the Youtube video first to get a sense. I also went for the Ghost Tour which was great as well. Definitely recommend. Do prepare some cash for tips.
Halley Jeremie
I had an AMAZING tour with High Priest Robi! He was so informative, fun, and pro-truth. My family and I are haitian and took the tour because we have many voodouists in our family including my father and wanted to learn more about Louisiana specific voodou and this didn’t disappoint. Throughout the entire tour I felt at peace and it was the highlight of our trip. I would recommend this to EVERYONE who isn’t a bigot in any way because if you come at High Priest Robi sideways, you will be set all the way straight, babe. This is a MUST-DO in NOLA and if I am back in NOLA, I will take the tour again! Thank you, High Priest Robi!
DD Henderson
I have been to New Orleans several times and every visit I go on Priest Robi VooDoo Tour. He is very knowledgeable about the history of New Orleans. It is a fun and very educational tour. He is one of the best tour host I have been on. Educating people about their history is his passion. Each visit I learn something new. The tour is pay what you like. He is worth whatever you can afford. Please keep in mind that the money he receives from the tour goes towards feeding hungry children. Next time on NOLA book the 10 am tour. You won't be sorry. Enjoy and learn. FYI bring a bottle of cold water. It is hot 🔥.
Komal Sekhon
Fantastic tour company. Did multiple tours while visiting the Big Easy for a week. Every tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Would try and do this again in every city Free Tours by Foot offers. Would love to especially shout out Priest Robi's Interactive Voodoo Tour and the night time French Quarter Ghosts tour!!
Patricia Rowe
Highly recommend this company. Their tour guides are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We took the garden a district tour and learned everything from the burial practices of NOLA to the presence of Anne Rice and what that brought to town. Lots of war history and plenty of info regarding plantations.
Cyndy Moneymaker
After watching many of his YouTube videos during the pandemic, we finally made it to New Orleans for an in-person tour with Andrew F. We hoped the tour would be fun and informative and we were not disappointed. Andrew is full of knowledge about New Orleans and Louisiana. In addition, we learned so much about the Garden District history, homes, families and some entertaining stories that make the neighborhood what it is today. He's not a rote script tour guide. He has a lot of info to share but he's friendly and conversational. Funny too! I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our time with Andrew. We will definitely tour again with him on our next trip. Highly recommend Free Tours by Foot New Orleans and Andrew F. Andrew, thanks for a great afternoon! Rich & Cyndy

Matthew gave our bachelorette party a walking tour this morning and it was fantastic! He was very patient and took lots of pictures of us. He also gave a great tour with lots of history and architecture facts! Highly recommend!
Amanda CBM
I did both The Garden District & Ghost Tours solo in May. Both were amazing & the tour guides were beyond informative & humorous. I'm returning to NOLA soon & will mos def do the tours & a couple more additional Tours they have available.
Andrea Ortiz
Just took a 7:30pm New Orleans Ghost tour with Robert and he was AMAZING! The way he implemented comedy in his story telling really entertained us and kept us hooked the whole tour. We highly recommend Free walking tours and Robert as your guide.
Ann-Marie Small
Our tour of the Garden District was THE best tour we went on in New Orleans and we went on several. Our guide was knowledgeable, entertaining & helpful. Highly Recommend! Remember to tip well because it's a pay what you will tour. Just a small fee to register.
Tracy Pettit
We took the Garden District tour with Denver as our guide. What an exceptional, thorough guide! You could definitely tell he is a teacher by trade. He even sent us a follow-up email with additional information. Highly recommend!!
Joseph Cho
Booked and completed our first freetoursbyfoot New Orleans with Sandy with a Y, and she was pretty frickin awesome.
She encompasses all the qualities a guide should have; informative, funny, witty and cool were just a few.
After the tour was over, I wished it was a bit longer. Also noticed that other tour groups seemed a lot more bored than ours.
Some tips:
1. Have questions at the ready! Sandy was very knowledgeable.
2. Don’t forget to “tip!” While Sandy simply said it’s a pay what you feel your, trust me, you’ll feel she was worth the full tour experience and more.
Alex M
Even though it was cold and rainy, Sandy was an absolutely great guide. Not only is she very knowledgeable, but also a great storyteller!
We loved the tour and learned a lot about the history of New Orleans and what Voodoo is really about.
Thomas Millauer
We did the French quarter tour! Our tour guide Sandy was absolutely wonderful and we had so much fun exploring this amazing city with her! I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting New Orleans !!!
Margarita Shircel
Robi, Robi, Robi was awesome! The Vodou (Voodoo) tour with Robi was so very informative, interactive and a lot of fun! He is very knowledgeable as having first hand experience in Vodou culture and history - you don’t want to miss this tour with him! Robi we love you! Also, adding from a previous reviewer, “ If you are going to take advantage of these tours - please please tip well. I saw entirely too many people leaving without tipping at all, which was quite astonishing to me. Think of what most other tour guide companies would cost, and recognize you're getting an amazing deal.”
These guides work hard and deserve to be compensated, so bring some cash and be ready to enjoy yourselves!
Samuel Woolfenden
This was a fun experience. We booked last minute and were able to listen to the stories of ghosts in the old French Quarter. There is a small fee for scheduling. Then you pay what you can/what you feel the tour is worth. The tour guide was very knowledgeable.
Naren Manjunath
Had a great time! Our guide Sandy was really fun and added a lot of humour to the French quarter tour. I'd definitely recommend this for an accessible history of the French, Spanish and African influences on the neighborhood.
Patrick Billerman
My wife and I took the food tour with Kayla today, she was very interesting and informative. We found them on you tube but the actual tour was so much better. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
Andrea Canty
We had an amazing tour with Priest Robi! He is so knowledgeable and passionate about the Voodoo religion, culture, and customs. He was engaging, funny, and took time to answer all questions. I can't recommend this tour enough, hard to believe it is free, so make sure to tip generously!
Daniel M
Kayla's food tour was just amazing. Intimate small group but very informative and great tasting food.
Also she had provided her recommendations for food of all types around the city that we had used.
Was a great time all around.
Krissie Chapleo
Sandy (with a Y!) was actually fantastic this morning. She should be a stand-up comedian, she had us in absolute stitches the entire way round the french quarter and shared so much interesting information we were blown away. What an amazing introduction to the area. Thank you so much!
April Hooper
*(The Voodoo Tour with Sandy was an absolutely exceptional experience. It was informative, it was hilarious and it made our visit an enriching one that went beyond filling our bellies with goodies.)
Take the tour. Do it with Sandy. Learn a thing. Tell your architect friends about house spines. Chant for Sandy in the streets. Be a better person. Fin.
Susan Heeres
Sandy provided a great tour experience on the French Quarter tour we took on 1/20/22. She is very knowledgeable and presents information in an upbeat fun way.
Highly recommend her!
Amanda Z
Sandy was an awesome guide for our walking tour of the French Quarter in New Orleans. She was hilarious and we learned a ton from the tour. We also enjoyed visiting some of her restaurant and bar recommendations. I would certainly recommend the tour to anyone who visits New Orleans!
Global Glow Toys
The robi voodoo tour is amazing, life changing, and eye opening! Great man absolutely loving energy and personality! Well worth energy nickle, dime, and dollar donated! Strongly recommend because "voodo" isn't what you think!!! Trust me!
Gloria K
We did two walking tours. The first one was the French quarter tour with Sandy. She was very knowledgeable and entertaining.
The second was the garden district tour with Sean. It was fun to see the cool home w and learn the history. Sean explained everything el too.
Both guides were great at answering questions.
Dhruv Bavaria
Sandy was our guide. The foot tour was really nice! What was different is her explanations have a nice tone of sarcasm which makes normally boring information quite entertaining.
Alfonso Vallarta (Poncho)
Both tours we had (French Quarter w/Andrew F & Voodoo w/Robi) were just BRILLIANT. Best attention, insight and disposition towards tourists wanting to learn in our NOLA holiday so far. Great end-of-tour tips, as well. They went truly above and beyond!
Tina Hadaway-Mellis
Authentic, real and truth….if you can’t handle the truth, don’t come on this tour. Robi tells it straight. He’s living his truth and we should be aware of ours. Literally best tour in the quarter ever! Thank you!!!!
Cindy Jackson
Thanks to Robi for an in-depth, energetic, and entertaining tour! We had a great time and learned so much. Definitely worth taking this tour.
Melissa Lute
My husband and I did the voodoo tour with Sandy. She was so knowledgeable about the history of New Orleans and the cultures and religions. I highly recommend a tour with her. Remember the guides do this for free, so be generous - even if you weren't entirely satisfied, give something...It was FREE. I saw some people leave without giving anything.
KS
Just do it!!! Captain Walker the best tour guide. Didn’t need bug spray either!!
William Goessaert
Amazing tours! Priest Robi, in New Orleans is specifically amazing, go on his voodoo tour to get an education! TIP YOUR TOUR GUIDES too!
Melanie Prendergast
We originally planned 4 walking tours while in New Orleans, but unfortunately had to cancel 2 of them. For one of them, the rain came pouring down and for the other, due to the rain on one of the other days, our paid segway tour with another company was changed so we had a conflict in schedule. We ended up doing the Ghost tour with Meri. She was great and shared some great history and stories with us. They were not frightening. Just very informative. The other tour was the Treme neighborhood tour with Evian, he was a great narrator too. We highly recommend both tours and wish we could have done the other tours.
Christopher Cartwright
I’m not going to give away the tour. But I would have to say that visiting New Orleans without doing this tour would be a big mistake. If you do anything at all in New Orleans you really must see this tour and experience the energy and information provided.
Leah Kaplan
Honestly, Priest Robi's tour was probably my favorite part of my tour to NOLA. You will learn so much about a misunderstood part of NOLA's culture and he is both incredibly knowledgeable and hilarious, which is an added bonus!
Kurt Kretzer
We did a ~2 hour tour with Priest Robi, he's a great guide, really informative, entertaining, fun, welcoming, and just a good person. Can't recommend him enough, looking forward to doing more with him and other tour guides.
Nichole Noel
We took the French Quarter tour led by Sandy. It was a great introduction to New Orleans and we took away a lot of information about the architecture and the history that shaped the area. I appreciated some of the insight that Sandy gave on some Black history and culture that's often overlooked. We wouldn't hesitate doing another tour with Sandy.
Haley
Sandy is an awesome tour guide! Very knowledgeable. After the tour, she also answered our question about a poet she mention on the tour. great experience. Thanks!
Adam Redstone
Had a great Saturday afternoon Voodoo tour with Sandy in the camo hat. She was super knowledgeable of the history and culture and you can tell she took pride in sharing with the group. I would highly recommend and will by trying the FTBF again in the future!
Courtney Mirenzi
I've done 4 tours with Free Tours by Foot in New Orleans and they all have been AMAZING. My most recent tour was the Voodoo Tour with Sandy. Sandy is an amazing storyteller with a wealth and depth of knowledge on voodoo history. Her tour was informative and fun. I highly recommend touring with her (and really anyone from Free Tours by Foot, they are all great!).
Kenneth Echaluce
We went to two tours in one day. The first one was with Sandy for the French Quarter tour. She was an amazing tour guide, so knowledgeable and professional! The French Quarter is filled with so much history, you could spend hours just walking around, it made it much better with all the little things we learned from Sandy.
And we did another tour, the ghost tour with Robert. He is a phenomenal storyteller, he adds humour with his stories to keep you hooked which are all fascinating! We especially loved the "poultrygeist"... I mean poltergeist story in a local fine dining restaurant.
These tours are absolutely worth it and it's pay as you like. We've done plenty of free walking tours around Europe and Sandy and Robert are among the best we've had.
Emily Darcy
Did the Voodoo tour with High priest Robi and honestly he was INCREDIBLE!!! He was suuuper informative, so animated, got the whole group involved and his passion and humour was infectious! He was absolutely phenomenal, and is an asset to your company! I've done walking tours all over the world and this was honestly one of the best I've ever experienced. I learnt so much, and felt absolutely honoured to have High priest Robi as our guide.
Thank you Robi!!
Rachel Lee
Highly recommend the Ghost tour with Andrew and the Voodoo tour with High Priest Robbi. Both tour guides are highly knowledgeable about New Orleans culture.
Voodoo priest Robbi introduced the history and rituals of voodoo culture in an authentic but very engaging manner! The information was super captivating!
Walking tours are also perfect for solo travelers to meet other travelers! Highly recommend for anyone who’s looking to understand New Orleans a little bit more.

New Orleans tours by foot day #1
First tour was Tremé hosted by Robert C. Excellent knowledge of the history and background of how the city became known for its jazz and rich music history! Highlights were Dixie land music and the red light district among other fantastic bits of history.
Second tour was the food tour hosted by Kayla M. great insights into how Louisiana became known for its fantastic cousine and how all the different cultural backgrounds have contributed to a delightful array of delectable dishes available!
Both tours I highly recommend when coming to New Orleans!!

I had previously participated in a Free Tours by Foot experience in Washington, DC, so I did not hesitate to book a tour for my family's first trip to New Orleans. My two teenage children and I participated in the French Quarter Food Tour led by Kayla Lemaire. We met Kayla and the other tour-goers at the French Market. We then visited Cafe du Monde and Leah's Pralines for sweets and sampled muffaletta sandwiches, cane syrup, and hot sauce while learning about Creole, Cajun, and New Orleans history and cuisine. Kayla was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. She was even kind enough to e-mail a list of New Orleans events to the tour participants after our tour. I highly recommend Kayla and Free Tours by Foot.
anngilyn dombrowski
We had such a great time on the Garden District walking tour! Sean was so knowledgeable and brought a wonderful energy to the tour. We loved it and we can’t wait to come back next time for another tour!
Desiree
Went for the French Quarter tour with Daniel and the Voodoo Tour with Robi. Both had a different style and vibe but BOTH were equally informative, mind and knowledge expanding and great ways to get to know New Orleans a bit deeper than my usual just wandering around, exploring and eating. SO GLAD I attended both tours. Props to both Daniel and Robi for their engaging ways of sharing history and stories. 11/10 recommend!!
Analeidys Hernandez
My family had the French Quarter tour by Sandy. She was a great tour guide as she was very knowledgeful but also very funny and made the tour a fun and educational one. Definitely recommend when on New Orleans as you get to see every main site within the French Quarter along with the history behind it.
Alexis Thorbecke
I’ve done Free Tours by Foot in many cities and they are always enjoyable. I did the Voodoo Tour in New Orleans with Sandy. It was an excellent tour! Sandy was charismatic and knowledgeable. Do be aware that it is more of a history tour than a ghost tour, which I thought was awesome. You learn cool stories, but the real religion of Voodoo is treated with respect.
Nuno Dias
Love the food tour with Kayla LeMaire she did an amazing job guiding, and she knew everything about the food in New Orleans/ Louisiana!
I Also did I the voodoo tour with Sandy Hester. It was also amazing me and my wife loved it. Sandy knew a lot about the voodoo religion and I was happy to learn more about it.
Heather Hinze
If you are visiting New Orleans and are looking for a legitimate Vodou tour, Priest Robi's tour is the only one you need to book. We took this tour on our first morning in New Orleans and it set the bar so high. Not only is Robi just an amazing person and great story teller, the stories and history of Vodou in New Orleans are legitimate. (Not to mention the family history.) If you are truly interested in what Vodou is and how it is practiced this is the tour for you. He will also point out what it is not, (thanks, Hollywood!) which is equally important. Be prepared to laugh, learn and have a great time!
Victorina Manciana
We took a the Voodoo tour with Robbie and we could not be happier with it. We learned SO much about the history of voodoo religion in America. Robbie was wonderful, very very charismatic and fun. I absolutely recommend it.
The Valkers
Did the Voodoo Tour with Robert! Had an excellent time. He was extremely knowledgeable about the subject and helped differentiate between actual Voodoo and Voodoo seen in Hollywood. He was an excellent tour guide.
Robert Moran
First time taking a tour with them, did the ghost tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and funny. Will definitely use them again
Christelle Aponte
Free Tours by Foot did an exceptional job managing a large group with 4 different tours. All of the guides were fantastic, knowledgeable, patient, and fun! Highly recommend!
Erin H
Kayla was wonderful! Extremely informative and very knowledgeable. I learned a lot. What would’ve made the tour better, however, would’ve been the opportunity to try more foods.
Aoife B
Priest Robi's voodoo tour was the highlight of my trip to New Orleans. He is knowledgeable, passionate, welcoming and also hilarious! He gave real personal experience and insights into voodoo and Creole culture that you can only get from someone born into it. He is also full of local knowledge and recommendations. 5 stars!!
Deb Urban
I had the most fantastic tour with High Priest Robi. It was the best tour I have ever been on. I learned what vodou really is all about, not what film/tv would have us believe. Robi was personable, engaging and entertaining. I would definitely recommend a tour with him.
Robyn Stoneburner
Voodoo Tour by Robi was fabulous. He is very knowledgeable and interacts with everyone on the tour. I recommend everyone book this tour. Keep promoting love Priest Robi.
Jonada Rrapo
We took 3 tours with this company, The French quarter and the Voodoo tour with Sandy and Treme with Robert. The guides are very knowledgeable, passionate about the subject matter and despite not being originally from New Orleans they ooze love for the city (mind you they each lived over 20 years in NOLA so basically new orleaneans by adaptation).
Do yourself a favor and discover more of this wonderful city’s culture, history and architecture!
Jessica Maistrovich
I did this tour twice. Robi is extremely entertaining and knowledgeable. This second time was a little too off track for
me. I agree with all of his sentiments, but I don't need them to be the focus of tour. We could have shaved 20 mins off the tour and still got the point across (that everyone should try love Instead of hate.) With all that, I still would absolutely tell everyone I know to take this tour. The wealth of knowledge and willingness to discuss sensitive topics is incredible. Such a treasure.
Jordan Acosta
We were a group of 6 and we booked a private Ghost Tour. We were so glad we decided to do the private tour, because it felt more intimate, and our guide, Emily E., was able to answer all of our questions. We had such a wonderful time with Emily. She was charismatic, funny, knowledgeable and she was able to answer all of the questions we had. My wife and I had done a ghost tour before, but I was so pleased to see it from Emily's perspective. She took us to spots we had not seen before, and we even learned new things about locations that were familiar to us!
I can't wait to visit again and take more tours with Free Tours by Foot.
Elizabeth Ulloa
Was in NOLA last week and did the Voodoo tour on Friday morning and a Ghost tour that Friday night (1/25/19).
Both tours were GREAT.
For the Voodoo tour at 11am, Melissa was our tour guide. Met in front of Mister Gregory’s on N Ranpart and St Ann. Melissa was a great tour guide with a lot of knowledge of the history of voodoo, how it came to NOLA, and how it compares to other religions. We left the tour with a better understanding of voodoo. She was also very nice and open to any questions.
For the Ghost tour at 8pm, Alec was our tour guide. We meet at Jackson square in front of the Cathedral. A lot of other tour guides were meeting there but it was easy to find ours - a picture is sent before the tour. You can also ask one of the tours and they’ll tell you where to go.
Back to Alec - he was very funny and personable. He gave us some good ghost stories while also debunking other ones. The tour felt like it went by so fast because of how entertained we were!
Thank you Melissa and Alex for 2 awesome tours!
Claire Mahon
Had a great time on the French quarter tour. It was about 25 people and took 90 minutes. Enjoyed all the stories and history of the neighborhood. Great thing to do your first day in New Orleans to get situated.
neil mitchell
We took the French Quarter Food & History tour guided by Kayla. It was awesome! I can’t recommend this highly enough! The tour guide is super knowledgeable, friendly and funny too! I guarantee I will definitely use Free Tours By Foot again and again every trip I take to New Orleans!
Allison De Vera
I attended Sandy's voodoo tour today and Mathews food tour yesterday. I learned so much history from them. They were passionate and knowledgeable about the history, which made it very exciting to listen too. They were friendly and funny. I highly recommend their tours.
Emily Kvasnicka
We took three tours through this company during our stay in New Orleans and highly recommend every one of them! The guides were knowledgeable, entertaining, and gave us all a good time.
Blake Pollard
We took the French Quarter History tour and the Garden District tour with Daniel and both were very informative! I wish there was a True Crime/Dark History tour option as we would have have liked to have learned a little bit about the dark history of New Orleans without made up ghost stories. Something to consider.
Quincey Roberts
Voodoo Tour with High Priest Robi was BY FAR the highlight of our trip. We learned so much and had a GREAT time. Robi is genuine, knowledgeable, and so much fun! 10 out of 10 recommended!!
Dheeru Dua
We took vodoo tour with Sandy. They were very knowledgeable about the history voodoo and it's not often you find your guides with a great sense of humor. We really enjoyed the tour and would recommend it to folks in future.
Kim Lacy
We did a Garden District tour as well as the Voodoo tour with Priest Robi. Both were excellent and very informative as well as fun. Priest Robi though, is an amazing and fun tour guide. His is definitely a must do!
Jennifer Richardson
The Vodou with Robi was the best tour I've ever been on! He was so informative, honest, and kept it real. He also has a great sense of humor and had the group laughing several times while teaching us all a lot at the same time. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested, and if Robi is your tour guide you'll definitely be in for a treat! And don't forget to leave a treat for your tour guide too - tip 'em well!
Luna Cat
Amazing Voodoo Tour with Robi. He's an high energy, funny, extremely knowledgeable Vodou priest that sets the facts straight. Everyone should go on this tour while in Nola!
Kaylen Strench
The Voodoo tour with Robi was absolutely fascinating, and Robi is such an incredible tour guide with a unique personal connection to the subject. One of the best tours I’ve ever been on, highly recommend!!
Laurie B
My girlfriends and I spent a weekend in New Orleans and took a small private Garden District tour with Andrew. If we could give him 10 stars, we would. Andrew was waiting for us at our designated meeting spot and proved to be a knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide. He was very friendly and easygoing and was clearly passionate and well-informed about New Orleans’s history. He also provided many juicy present-day tidbits about the houses in the Garden District and their owners. I highly recommend requesting Andrew for a tour!
Heidi Knecht-Seegers
You have got to treat yourself to a FTBF walking tour with Sandy! While visiting New Orleans this week, we had the treat of taking the Voodoo tour as well as the French Quarter tour with her. She is a fountain of knowledge and incredibly funny as well. She has a very thorough grasp of a seemingly vast amount of pertinent information, and is very engaging and entertaining.
Tara Dunn
Robi led such an awesome, fun, informative tour! We learned so much about real Voodoo and helped make the history of Congo Square real for us. He also provides some amazing (and truly local) food, drink, and shopping recommendations for the rest of your trip. Definitely recommend booking this while visiting!
Michael Sheridan
I found this company through YouTube while searching the area before heading for vacation. I am glad I did! Andrew gave our tour of the Garden District. We got to see Cemetery #1 as well as numerous homes in the area. Andrew did a great job of providing the information/stories and making it feel personal, even though we were a part of the group. There was not a charge to go on the tour, but he definitely deserved the tips we gave. We greatly appreciated his advice on where to go once the tour was done. Most of the group was staying in the French Quarter, but he pointed out things we could do in the Garden District while we were there. Highly recommended!
Goldia
My fried and I did two tours with Free Tours By Foot in New Orleans; the French Quarter and Voodoo ones, both led by Sandy. Both were very informative and interesting, and Sandy injects just the right amount and type of humour to make them entertaining and engaging too. Thank you very much, highly recommend!!!
Chandler White
We went on the French Quarter tour led by Sandy. Sandy was great! Kept everyone entertained and we learned a lot about the history of New Orleans French Quarter!
Danielle Menditch Roessle
I took a Vodou tour with Robi. I thought it was one of the most informative, creative tours I've been on. Robi shares about the history of Vodou and debunks a lot of myths that America mainstream has been fed through media. He shares about the history and core tenants of the spirituality and he brings a lot of humor while doing so. He's upfront about sharing the interconnections of racism and Vodou, so don't join the tour if this topic is uncomfortable for you.
Taylor Kammerer
We took the 8:30 pm Ghost Tour with Stacy and the 9:30 am St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 Tour with Matt. Both were extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture of New Orleans. The tour was interesting and felt genuine, not kitschy like some of the other tours we walked by. Would absolutely recommend taking tours through this company while you’re in town. Wish we would have taken more! P.S. Be prepared for a couple hours of standing without sitting breaks. I’d recommend bringing water and an umbrella as well
Francie Miranda
Took the French Quarter tour with Sandy and had a great time. Learned lots of interesting facts about how the French Quarter was established and she also made it entertaining. Would definitely recommend!
Harigovind Menon
We had a really wonderful time in the tour. We were new to the town and the garden City tour seemed the exact thing we wanted. Our guide had this really wonderful way of explaining about each interesting houses in the neighborhood and we had a great time. The group was about 25 people. The tour was roughly about two hours and worth it. I would highly recommend the tour.
Joe Saloom
The ghost tour is a must do! Meri was an awesome tour guide so I recommend her if you have a choice. She expertly managed every interruption the city had to throw at the group and didn’t rush through things even if it meant the tour was a bit longer than advertised (because of the interruptions). As a local, her knowledge of history in the area as well as the way she tells the stories was top notch.
Sarah 116
SANDY is a really good tour guide!!! We did the voodoo tour with her. We have a ghost tour as well in a couple days and we hope to have her again. She was perfect
Karen Abramson
Kayla LeMaire took us on a walking tour of the French Quarter. She gave us a wonderful historical background of New Orleans. She was knowledgeable, entertaining, and very helpful. Free Tours by foot are highly recommended!!
Bradley McNamee
Did the French Quarter tour with Sandy today. She was amazing and learned a ton of fun and interesting stuff about the city all with the right amount of humor. Highly recommend her to anyone booking.
Radka Todorova
We did the French Quarter walking tour on Sunday. It took about 1hr 45 min. Our guide, Daniel, was very informative and entertaining. He answered all of our questions and provided us with great historical references and interesting facts. He suggested further books to read or movies to explore the rich history of this city. Awesome tour! Highly recommend!
Mike Bond
We had a great experience with Andrew F. On the Garden District tour. He was extremely knowledgeable, personable and articulate. We would definitely recommend him and the tour company as a whole. Thanks so much for enhancing our trip!
Janelle De Paula
I highly recommend taking this tour. Robbie was AMAZING…. If you want to know the real history of NOLA and Voodoo and not the bs you see in the movies you cannot skip this tour. This tour is highly entertaining and interactive! Don’t miss out on one of the best tours NOLA has to offer! Than you Robbie
Bob Gibson
I went on the Voodoo Tour with High Priest Robi. His knowledge and passion for the subject created a rock solid foundation. His fast-paced delivery kept everyone engaged. He has the ability to accommodate a wide range of clients and create an inclusive atmosphere. It was truly a great experience.
Stephen Balakirsky
We did two of these tours (ghost tour and French Quarter). Sandy was an exceptional tour guide! Very knowledgeable and great sense of humor. Highly recommend these tours.

Robi is a natural born educator. He imparts his wisdom with a common sense, humor and humanity that leaves you feeling like you were just gifted with his presence. Robi is what I love in the people of New Orleans, unapologetically true to himself and his lineage. We should all be so brave and love so deeply.
Hannah Thompson
My siblings and I did a walking ghost tour with Meri. Definitely one of our most memorable parts of the trip! Meri is from the area and was clearly knowledgeable with a ton of humor. Definitely take one of these tours and tip well!
Kathryn Newby
Sandy was incredible! I learned more in that tour than in all of high school history class :) She made it hilarious and engaging and was such a delight. Would 1000% recommend to anyone visiting NOLA.
Lasheika Grayson (Divine Empress)
My husband and I enjoyed this tour. Robert was very informative and funny. If you don’t want to know the truth then this tour might not be for you. The best part is we got to see the second line celebration for Yemaya.
Liz Banana
We did the Voodoo Tour with High Priest Robi on Nov. 4, 2022 and it was, by far, the BEST and most informative tour I’ve ever done in New Orleans. He brings ACTUAL history and things his family lived and educates (not in a condescending or preachy way) and involves you, no matter what color you are, in the history of the city and his religion.
I’m not actually related to Priest Robi, but he makes you feel like he is your brother, son, uncle, etc. I cannot say enough positive things about him and truly believe everyone should take his tour!
Thank you Robi for your words and complete love you showed me. You are blessed beyond comprehension!
Tim Thompson
Took 2 tours on our last trip to New Orleans. Garden District was A++. The French Quarter ghost tour was a B+ but only because the tour guide was way to opinionated on every spot.
Lisa Healey
Would say it was the most interesting tour i took in Nola. Priest Robi was awesome, full of knowledge and so funny too. It's fantastic don't miss it!!!!
Dale Maddox
Priest Robi was awesome!! Informative, funny and makes you think. Will definitely go on another tour with him again
My spouse and I adored him.
Nabila Qadri
Sandy was very knowledgeable about voodoo! She could answer every question and was very thorough with her tour. Informative and interesting! I would definitely take another tour with her.
Journey Grasmick
My family took the voodoo tour with Sandy as our tour guide and she was fantastic and very knowledgeable and funny it was so interesting and informative.
Amanda Aubel
I did the Garden District tour with Andrew F and it was GREAT! Andrew was very knowledgeable, friendly, and made me feel comfortable as a solo traveler. The tour had a good combination of information about history, architecture, culture, local celebrities and funny stories. Andrew also provided other recommendations in the area. Highly recommend! I also did the self-guided audio tour of the French Quarter because I couldn’t make the 10AM tour. Not quite the same as the real thing but better than nothing!
Angela Duncan
We did the French Quarter tour with Matthew. He was a great tour guide, so much knowledge! Despite the cold weather this past weekend he made it an enjoyable tour. Love this company, my second time doing a NOLA walking tour with them.
Tiffany Huynh
Sandy was my tour guide for the voodoo tour. She was very knowledgeable, entertaining, and culturally sensitive! She portrayed voodoo as a religion rather than what it is made out to be. When I come back to NOLA, I hope to go on another tour with Sandy. Be prepared to tip, as this is the only way they make money. Cash, Venmo, and Zelle are taken. 😊
Anthony M
We were given the haunted tour by Kyle Thompson and had a great time. He was new but was very knowledgeable and knew how to keep your attention.
Jannean Dixon
My husband and I have been coming to New Orleans for an annual getaway for years. Every time we come we take a tour. Free Tours by Foot is our go-to company. The guides are passionate about their city and love sharing their knowledge. You cannot go wrong with a tour with these guys!
*And if you happen to get Stacey as your guide, you'll love her!
Stephanie Benbow
I really enjoyed my Voodoo tour with Robi, he's the real deal and very knowledgeable on Voodoo what's true and what isn't true. I highly recommend this tour you wont be disappointed.
Melissa C.
My husband and I decided to take the Free Tour by Foot Garden District/Lafayette Cemetery # 1 tour and the Voudoo tours. First, the name escapes me of the older gentleman who took us around the Garden District. However, he was super knowledgeable and friendly. Unfortunately, the cemetery part of the tour was cut a bit short since there was someone being buried during the time and route he takes. Yet, he made the best of it and showed us other areas off his typical path. He reminded us of the professor you would have in class who is funny and talks a lot but you wonder, "will this be on the test?" The Garden District part of the tour was wonderful as well. He was very conscientious of how hot it was and made sure to have us stand in the shade. He was full of facts and humor. I highly recommend this tour given that just looking at the beautiful houses without any sort of background information would have not made this feel like a true experience.
Now for the Voudoo tour. We took it with Robi who is the ONLY Voudoo priest giving such tours in the city - according to him. He was super flexible in allowing two of my friends to book the tour right there and then with him because of a mix up that occurred online. I totally appreciated that since most tours definitely turn away people who don't register ahead of time. Keep in mind, the tour itself was already pretty large in size but given his grand personality it didn't make a difference how little or many people were there. This tour was nothing like any other walking tour we've been on (we've been on plenty in other cities and abroad). Robi was animated, hilarious, and expect to have audience participation!! He was full of knowledge and sass - a great combination. I would say, he's probably not the best tour guide for those who are on the more reserved side as Robi tells it like it is and really wants you to participate. Thank you to both our tour guides for making my first time (and my husbands 4th) in NOLA a special one!
Brianne Hansen
Our guide was Sandy and she gave a fantastic tour! Such good, interesting information presented very well
Victoria Deschere
You don't have to be a foodie to love the New Orleans French Quarter walking tour. Strong recommendation that you ask when Kayla is available. She was a font of knowledge, funny, a local, personable and very flexible. Obviously the local merchants love her, and food in New Orleans is all about local merchants. Pace was perfect, and she did a wonderful job of herding cats (our group, like others, tended to wonder a little). Her list of recommendations on restaurants could keep us here for months and suits every taste.
Monica F
Robi was awesome! If you decide to take tours of New Orleans while you're visiting i highly recommend the Vodou tour with Robi. He gives you so much knowledge about New Orleans, vodou (not voodoo! :-) We listened Robi.), and a little bit of background on the daily lives of slaves. We performed a rain dance and no joke, it rained! Robi is very thoughtful and considerate about the people on his tour. He found shade for us as the morning started to heat up and covering for us when it started to rain.

I booked two tours with Free Tours by Foot. The French Quarter tour was really informative. Our guide was great! Very well spoken, clear, funny and knowledgeable. I took many pictures and learned a lot about the city. The voodoo tour was one of my favourite Nola experiences. Our guide is a voodoo priest and debunks everything you thought you knew about the voodoo religion. It's not about curses and voodoo dolls. He made us role play a part of the voodoo history in New Orleans. He was hilarious and made the tour super fun. If you only have time to do one tour during your stay, I recommend this one!!!
Christina Nguyen
Opted for the Ghost Tour and Andrew was our tour guide. It was a really good tour - very informational, lots of interesting stories and places we hit. Andrew was funny and gave us great ideas for the remainder of our trip including the restaurant (Muriel) we went to on our last night that was absolutely outstanding! Highly recommend the tour! We even got a ghost in one of our photos - no joke.
Paola Suro
I've been on MANY walking tours, but none quite like the Voodoo Tour I went on with Robi. He was phenomenal: easy to understand, funny, and very knowledgeable. As a High Priest in Traditional Louisiana and Haitian Voodoo, he was able to provide perspectives from his very own point of view. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour, but especially if it's with Robi.
Audrey Del Prete
I took the Voodoo tour on my last day. Wish I had done it earlier in my trip. I learned so much including all the real facts about Vodou. It's not scary at all. This is not a haunted tour or anything like that. Make sure you take the tour with Robi Gilmore! He was the best. He's a Vodou Priest and extremely knowledgeable as he actually is a Vodouist. He is a little flirty so heads up fellas!
ALAN DUNN
Did the French Quarter tour with Andrew & cocktail tour with Stacey. Both guides were outstanding. Andrew has great insights about the city history, culture, food, music. Stacey took us into several of the quarter’s best bars for an insiders tour and drinks. As usual, you just can’t go wrong with Free Tours by Foot in NOLA.
Susan Harris
Sandi was great. Incredibly knowledgeable and a wonderful sense of humor. Highly recommend!
larry burbridge
Andrew F was a great tour guide, knowledgeable, funny and helpful. Pay as you will, but well worth the time.

Kayla Lemaire Was Outstanding!
Took a pair of tours on Jan 27, 2020 while in New Orleans. Kayla presented both walking tours - The French Quarter and French Quarter Food tours. She was exceptional - excellent knowledge of the history, geography and local customs. She is highly personable. Graciously answered all questions posed to her. Made our trip to N'Orleans very memorable. What a charming sample of southern hospitality
Totally unexpected - at the conclusion, Kayla sent us an email detailing various dining recommendations from our Food Tour.
Thank you so much.
Elena Barroso Garrido
I did the garden district tour and it was great!! Andrew F was really helpful, even after the tour by giving suggestions and helping us get around.
Amelia Pushelberg
Our tour guide Aleq was funny and knew his history very well. We signed up for a ghost tour and he touched on many of the stories and went into much detail regarding the ghosts. At times I felt like there was a bit too much history given that strayed from the main story he was telling but he seemed to catch himself when that happened. Great free tour overall and would highly recommend it
Ana G
My group went on the 8:15pm Ghost Tour with Alec.
Alec is a great tour guide with vast knowledge and humor in all things Haunted in NOLA. Learning about the historical facts and even some fun facts really made my experience in NOLA. The Lalaurie Mansion was the best story!! Pictures included.
Highly recommend and would use this tour company again.
Jake Turner
Sandy was a great tour guide! Very knowledgeable and witty! Highly recommend.
DI YU
I am very excited to attend this activity. I attend the french quarter in the morning and ghosts tour in the night. Both tours are so good and Both tour guide are so warm-hearted and have a chart expression. I really love them! I really love this activity~
cj wiliams
Sandy was a hoot, full of information and as she called it sass! Highly recommend a walking tour when exploring a new place!
barbara de giusti
We had really a wonderful experience: Priest Roby is very knowledgeable about history of this city and about Voodoo. He's able to share a lot of information in a very entertaining way and he's also profoundly committed to his community of family and friends. If you are in Nola go and listen to him, you won't regret!
Oby Umelloh
I did the VooDoo tour led by Sandy! I loved the entire experience! Sandy was so knowledgeable and respectful of the religion and history behind VooDoo and she was also extremely funny and engaging. I felt like I was getting an authentic and true history of VooDoo that respected the African spiritual transitions behind it. Don't waste your money going to tours that hype up VooDoo stereotypes! If you want a real historical understanding behind VooDoo, go on this tour. Thank you so much Sandy for being an amazing guide. You seriously blew us away!
Celina Jensen
I went on a couple tours in the Garden District and French Quarter. The guide was excellent, very informative, and encouraged the group to ask questions. Definitely would recommend both of these tours for anyone traveling to New Orleans! Great way to walk around the neighbourhoods and learn about the city!
Van Joseph Codilla
We took the French Quarter Food Tour with Kayla and really enjoyed her insight into the varied and long history of the amazing food culture in New Orleans. From classic French and Creole all the way to today’s rise in Viet-Cajun fusion, Kayla is well versed in the intersectionality of the cuisines that have graced this delta since it’s colonial days. Her Cajun background lends itself very well to sharing her personal experiences as well as recommendations of many great local restaurants. We highly recommend this food tour whenever you plan to visit the French Quarter.
Rebecca Victoria
We did two tours and both were among the highlights of our trip! My friends and I did the Voodoo Tour with Robi and the Ghost Tour with Daniel and both tours were very different from each other and both 5+ stars!! You know when you sign up for a “pay what you want” tour that the guide is really going to do their best to make your experience amazing. Robi’s Voodoo tour was incredible and interactive. He is a Voodoo Priest in two types of Voodoo and dispels a lot of the myths about his religion. He even had us dancing and my bf playing the drums 🤣🤣 in a mock voodoo ritual. On the ghost tour, Daniel was funny and we loved that he is a historian so the tour was based on historical records and not just hokey ghost stories meant to scare people. Both tours were very entertaining and I would highly recommend free tours on foot to everyone!
Julie and Mike
We just finished the French Quarter tour with Sandy. She was super friendly and knowledgeable about the area and had a great sense of humor despite the sudden showers. 10/10 would recommend to anyone coming to New Orleans whether it’s your first or fifteenth visit! Sandy, you rock!!
Joe Lima
We had an enjoyable and informative walking tour of the French Quarter with Sandy. Sandy shares some interesting tidbits of history in a friendly and comical way. Did you know the architecture of most French Quarter buildings does not originate from France? If you want to know the origins of French Quarter architecture, you’ll have to take Sandy’s tour. Highly recommend this tour and highly recommend Sandy.
Grace Su Ming
Such a great experience! We took the Treme tour with Robert! So informative and loved learning about the African Creole Indigenous history. Highly recommend!
Vikki Gaines
I toured with the High Preist Robbie where we were all able to learn about history in a sincere, honest way. He showed the beauty of the past as well as the unfortunate downside of it.
I wish I would have started my trip with the tour because the tour added so much more depth to my experience in the French Quarter.
In short, this is a must do experience!
maria jose
Awesome tour with Sandy today! She is a great guide, gave a lot of interesting tips and information! Plus she was super nice and authentic; we loved her! Congrats 👏🏼!! …
Student: Emily Keaney
Had Sandy for our French Quarter tour today, she was lovely. Funny, intelligent, and informative. Absolute joy, would recommend.
Cathi La Sota
Took the St Louis Cemetary Tour with Elizabeth and couldn't be happier. She provided a lot of information without being boring and went out of her way make our group comfortable (stopping for water, keeping us in the shade as much as possible, etc.). The tour was an hour and a half long, but seemed to go by much faster. Will take another tour with them the next time I'm in the area.
Jennifer Pfeiffer
Did the French Quarter with Daniel and it was pouring rain!! However, Daniel's sunny personality, and the way he taught us the history was outstanding!
Sandy gave us the voodoo tour and she was incredible. Is nice to hear the true history, and she delivered!
Kyle W Hytonen
Fun ghost walking tour done by Liz. Very entertaining and informative. Was told some interesting stories about New Orlean’s sordid past and definitely gave me some chills. This is only 2.50 to sign up and then based on tips at the end of the tour. Definitely worth checking out
Paul Billingslea
Great tour, Kayla is very knowledgeable about both the food and the history of New Orleans. Highly recommended!
Helena Cooper
Just took the French Quarter Tour with Sandy. It was awesome! She was very informative, personable, and funny. Must do while in New Orleans!
Jon Studer
Food tour and French Quarter tours were amazing. Both tour guides were experts and loved the topic. Highly recommend.
Gina Ney
Thanks for great walking tour today in French Qtr NOLA. Sandy was the best! Her suggestion to wear a dollar on her birthday, has already earned my sister free pralines at the candy shop, free smiles, and more! xo Gina, Lauren & Maria
Adam Shapiro
Kayla led a french quarter food tour for our group of 8. It was equal parts culture and food history. Enjoyed it.
courtney williams
i can't begin to say enough nice things about free tours by foot new orleans! we enjoyed our tour with daniel so much, we went back the very next day for one of his others. exceptionally knowledgeable and so worth the time. take advantage!
Steve Stoneburner
Robi was very informative. I enjoyed his Voodoo Tour and learned a lot. I would recommend this tour to visitors.
maestro425
We had the most satisfying Tremé tour this morning, led by Evian. Evian was well informed, articulate, and pleasant. Bravo!!! Many thanks.
Tanya Fazende
Sandy was such a wealth of knowledge. I am finally able to piece together this beautiful but mystical religion of my home.
Being a tour guide as well, I am honored to be in company with someone who invested in our history as much as I am. This subject is very hard to comprehend and she made it clear and understandable for us all. Thank you Sandy for sharing this knowledge with us.
Heleen Raes
I really like these tours. I’ve done 3 of them: a voodoo tour, a tour of the French quarter and one of the Garden District. Our tour guides were locals on all 3 of them and knew a ton about the history of New Orleans, it was both informative and fun! They were always open for questions. I’d definitely recommend these tours to everyone, just make sure to tip your tourguide at the end!
Sarah Walczak
Excellent tour! Kayla was such a wonderful guide that I booked another tour with her the same afternoon. Highly recommend!
Alli Prior
These tours are so great! What an amazing way to learn about the rich history and culture of this place. The guides are friendly and have so much knowledge to offer. I've done all of them now and each tour offers a different insight into New Orleans history, each tour adding to the other.Great for all the family. Highly recommend them.
Rachel Curling
Did two amazing tours with this company and will use them again.
Kayla was top notch! And Sandy was great too.
pat sext
Sandy was great and super accommodating to all guests best time in new Orleans so far thanks for your hard work Sandy p.s. your funny too
Ryan T
Kayla was amazing during the food tour. She was very knowledgeable and I learned a ton about some of my favorite food.
Tamara Lipori
This voodoo tour exceeded everything we had heard about it. Best tour we’ve done- and we’ve done a LOT! Highly recommend!
Blazej Sendzielski
We took 2 tours with Elizabeth. First in the morning through the cemetery and second one the same day ( by accident:)) on the French Quarter. All of out was great. The knowledge she has is impressive. She puts a lot of input into the tours and can answer all of your questions. With her help we have attended the weekly local jazz parade in the city that and than joined her for the secound tour. We were running late but she responded our text messages and lead us to the place she was.
Let me write this. Some tours can be wearing out and disappointing. These - all though were "free" ( pay as you wish) were worth a lot.
Patricio J
I was lucky enough to have Sandy H. as my tour guide for the French quarter and Voodoo tours. She was AMAZING! Knowledgeable, professional, witty and passionate about her work. She also has a great sense of humor.
Matthew M. was my tour guide for the Garden District tour, he was also AMAZING!, he loves New Orleans and knows every single fact about the city you can possibly think of, has the answers to all questions. He was extremely knowledgeable and the tour very informative.
I truly enjoyed the tours! great experience.
James Price
My friend and I are only here for a few days and there’s no better way to learn about the deep, rich history New Orleans has. We took the Voodoo tour and had the pleasure of being taken around by our tour guide Sandy who was fantastic. She was so friendly and told us so much about the history in a short amount of time. Also credit to her for doing that in this heat and never letting it affect her. Would recommend to anyone looking to learn some history.
Robert Anderson
We took 4 tours and they were all outstanding. The guides were all very knowledgable and engaging. They really look out for guests, making sure to maximize time in the shade. The Voodoo tour with Robert was absolutely fascinating and one of the best we've been on - and we weren't even all that interested in it before going on it! Sandy did an amazing job on the French Quarter tour, covering a lot of sites and information in a short time. These tours simply can not be beat if you are willing to walk.
Jordan Roga
Sandy was very informative and entertaining. Great tour and recommendations!
Emily Larsen
We took three walking tours while in New Orleans and loved our time with Sandy! She was so funny and informative. Also, this free tour covered the most distance of any tour we went on (which we appreciated)…and this one still only clocked in at under a mile. Great for those who like to laugh, don’t mind a stroll and love history! Her tour is not to be missed!
Davy Adams
Did the Free Tours By Foot Voodoo tour with Robi this morning and it was just fantastic. He is warm, entertaining and deeply knowledgeable, as a high vodun priest in both the Haitian and Creole forms. He dispelled a lot of myths and I was fully engaged for the full two hours. Well worth it - make sure you get Robi though!
Emma Yowell
Sandy was amazing! My mom and I had been to NOLA previously and wanted to do something different this time and we’re so glad we did! She was very funny, extremely educated in the history of Voodoo and made walking in the 90° fun! Highly recommend.
Robert Feiner
Sandy’s Voodoo walking tour was very enjoyable and informative. She brought the history and evolution of voodoo to life with her descriptions and was also entertaining. Highly recommend a tour with Free Tours by Foot and with Sandy specifically in New Orleans.
Katy Oakley
So good! Went on the Voodoo (my fav by far) and St. Louis cemetery. Lots of interesting information. Really glad I did it.
Jolie Colon
Very informative, Daniel was a very pleasant tour guide, definitely worth taking the cemetery tour
Michael Jackson
Sandy did an excellent job on our tour. She was very knowledgeable and informative. With her humor she was able to make the tour fun and informative. Would recommend her to anyone looking for a good walking tour.
Michelle Malham
I had Robi, Mathew and Stacy we my tour guides and they were all amazing very insightful tours lead by all three of them. The voodoo tour is a must from Robi as he is a real practicing voodoo priest.
Tommy K
Thoroughly enjoyed both tours I saw, particularly the treme tour. I missed the initial one I scheduled but was able to join up on treme tour that was taking place nearby. The gentleman was helpful with everything, had great information on all things New Orleans from food, music, culture, voodoo etc. Packed a lot in the time we had.
Wes Copeland
Sandy is an incredible tour guide. We joined her for a ghost tour (with a couple of vampire stories thrown in for good measure). It was certainly an entertaining experience, but I appreciated how she balanced the storytelling with a true concern for the humanity of her subjects. There were bone-chilling moments (even in the June heat), but also a beautifully crafted framing of the stories within the context of the times the stories took place. Plus, her comic timing was impeccable. What an admirable balancing act. Highly recommended!!
Edward Nygren
Bob's Voodoo tour was fantastic. He did an amazing job of putting voodoo into cultural context and gave a highly entertaining, compelling history of a spiritual practice with deep roots in America. Would absolutely go on this tour again and highly recommend!
Jill Peters
Lovely stroll through the Garden neighborhood. Our guide was very
knowledgeable and fun.
Kayla Adolph
Sean was our tour guide for the walking Garden Tour. He was well educated in the areas history and able to answer our questions!! Afterwards he was kind enough to give us a list of his favorite spots to eat, drink and listen to music!!! Thanks Sean, was great!!
Adrienne Underwood
I had a great experience with Free Tours by Foot. My friends and I did both the ghost tour as well as the voodoo tour. Our tour guide for the ghost tour, Andrew, was hilarious and did an excellent job at making the night a fun experience. Our tour guide for the voodoo tour, Sandy, was equally funny and impressive with a vast knowledge of the voodoo religion. I had a great time and learned a lot in the process and would definitely recommend this tour company to anyone interested in visiting New Orleans!
enfys morgan
Did 2 free walking tours in New Orleans. One was the French quarter with Sandy and it was excellent. She is knowledgeable and funny. Then other was the Voodoo tour which was also very informative. I recommend both tours. Its free but they work for tips.
Brittney Grzesiak
I took the voodoo tour with Robi and he was so knowledgeable personable and funny. I learned so much, a must do in NOLA. Thanks for sharing your culture and knowledge with us Robi !!
Miguel Pimiento
Sandy was a wonderful guide with a lot of knowledge of USA history. Further she had the greatest sense of humor, really did make the tour pass by so quickly. If you can do it with her, I recommend it.
Logan Douglas
My friends and I decided to do the Voodoo tour with Sandy and absolutely loved it. If you want a tour focusing on the actual true history of voodoo and not just sensational myths, I highly suggest this tour. We learned so much about the African history and cultures that shaped voodoo as it is today in New Orleans. There were even some great facts on how voodoo and African culture has influenced the design and architecture of the city. The tour is truly educational and incredibly interesting at the same time. It felt so much shorter than it actually was and ended at a great voodoo shop near a cheap also good bar. I would recommend this tour for anyone interested in religion and the true history of voodoo and what it is.
Anabeth Liu
Wonderful tour guides on both tours I took, Garden District with Daniel Chick and French Quarter with Sandy Hester. They’re the cool history teachers that bring history to life and inspire you to learn more for yourself. Their passion for the city and their subject matter is apparent, and they’re both hilarious! 1.5 hours just flew by! Highly highly recommend, made my trip to NOLA so much more rewarding, educational and enjoyable
Kelsey Hughes
Toured with Sandy - funny, knowledgeable, and clearly cares about the city! Highly recommend.
Katrina Simmons
Sandy’s Voodoo tour was hands down the best tour I’ve taken over the years in New Orleans… and trust me Ive taken MANY. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the cultures and beliefs of the people who built this beautiful city, and has palpable respect for the religion. Her masterful storytelling was fun and engaging but based in facts, leaving us entertained and educated with a newfound respect for the religion and it’s impact on the city. No dolls, chickens, or scare tactics. Unfortunately Hollywood has done a number on the reputation and understanding of Voodoo, New Orleans and the world need more Sandys. Recommend, recommend, recommend. Even if you’ve taken a tour in the past - take hers. And TIP HER WELL, although after her tour you’ll want to!
Tomer Katz
Had a great tour with Sandy! I appreciated the humor, cynicism, and knowledge of course.
Jeffrey Cox
We did several tours with this company, we really enjoyed them all. We did 2 tours with Daniel, the Garden District and the French Quarter, he was very knowledgeable about the area and was excellent at presenting the information. Daniels took al lot of time explaining things about New Orleans from a local point of view, and why New Orleans is unique from other US cities. Our other great tour was with Robi, the Voodoo tour, which we now know is more accurately the Vodou tour. Robi is very passionate about the information and did an excellent job explaining what Vodou really is, and why people believe it is something different. Robi is a High Priest of Vodou, so he knows what he is talking about.
Jennifer Kvistad
Took a ghost tour with Sandy when my friends were in town and she had us laughing pretty hard while also giving us chills due to the creepiness of some of the stories! We all appreciated how much New Orleans history we learned in such an entertaining manor. She really knew her history and was able to answer all kinds of questions about New Orleans now and then. I highly recommend Sandy if you are looking for something fun, entertaining and informational in New Orleans!
persia r
The food tour was great! The guide gave us a list of good restaurants across the city, which was nice.
Alicia Childers
We took 2 tours with Free Tours by Foot. The Haunted Ghost Tour with Robert and the Garden District with Daniel. These were both exceptional. They provided a lot of history, were friendly, engaging, and made it a fun time learning about different things of NOLA. I highly recommend especially if you can get a tour with either of these men.
Julia Pooler
We took a cocktail tour with Sean. He was very knowledgeable, not only about the cocktails and the establishments we went to, but also about history in New Orleans and different parts of America. We had a great time and highly recommend this tour to all. Thank you Sean for your time and the GREAT experience.
Kirsten Clemans
After a not so great tour with another company, my sister and I decided to try out the Voodoo tour with Sandy. It was AWESOME. We loved her humor, knowledge of history, and respect for the various cultures and people. Sandy is clearly well informed about the city and has passion for what she does. Would definitely recommend!
Andrea Purcell
My husband and I did two walking tours with Andrew S. while in New Orleans. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave information in a very concise yet entertaining way. We did the Ghost Tour as well as the French Quarter tour and having that extra knowledge about the area enriched my time there for sure. I would highly recommend taking these tours!
Russ Anderton
Jack did a great job for us on this tour. Be aware the food samples all add up to quite a bit of food - we made a strategic error with an early dinner reservation - not a wise move after an approximate 2:00pm last meal on this tour. Highly recommend this tour - also a great gift shop at the beginning and a great kitchen shop at the end.
Emma Frobisher
Sandy was an excellent tour guide around the French Quarter. She was informative, funny, covered all the important bits, well paced and clearly knew her stuff - she responded to all the questions thoroughly. Highly recommend this tour.
Nikita G
We purchased the French Quarter and Garden District audio tours and they were both fantastic! The narrator had a very good speaking voice and the tours were very informative! We had tons of people stop us to ask us what we were listening to!
Leah DeSuza
We did the French quarter ghost tour and Alec was our tour guide. He was awesome! Super funny and really knows his stuff about New Orleans. Appreciated him keeping it real. I wish I would have known about free tours by foot sooner! I will definitely be going on another one of their tours and I’m already recommending friends go on one when they visit. Thank you guys for a great time!
Dmitry Feldman
My whole family enjoyed the Voodoo tour with Stacy and the Food tour with Melissa. Both were very informative, captivating, storytellers, and not only experts on the subject, but also a masters of connecting their stories to the New Orleans history. Their love to their great city was shining through every minute of these 2-3 hours tours.
Viktoria Kolesnikova
We went for Garden District tour with Andrew F. Andrew is an excellent tour guide! This tour was both very informative and entertaining. In addition, Andrew provided us with recommendations on the sightseeing and dining in New Orleans. I would highly recommend this tour and other Tours by Foot in New Orleans
Sasha G
Was in NOLA for the first time!
We attended 3 tours and each one was GREAT, super informative, and were led by personable, fun people.
French Quarter tour: Andrew
Voodoo tour: Robi
Ghost tour: Kyle
These tour guides were awesome. It was obvious they love their city and love what they do. Their enthusiasm was contagious and each tour was unique and interesting. They went beyond just telling us historical facts, the tours were often interactive and the tour guides even recommended cool spots to visit.
Would definitely recommend these tour guides if you come to NOLA. Thank you so much guys!
Aba b
The music and arts tour was the best part about my stay in New Orleans. Andrew F was a phenomenal tour guide. He has a very vast and in-depth knowledge about the city in all aspects. We heard music samples as we walked, there was laughter, banter, education- the complete package. I'd highly recommend it. Andrew relays his love and passion for his city very well to the audience. Very easy to talk to.
Stacey Stage
My husband and I have lived in New Orleans for 3 years now and every time we have friends or family come to visit, we always take them on a Free Tours by Foot tour! We have done the French Quarter tour multiple times with different guides, the Voodoo tour, the Cemetery tour, the Garden District tour, and the Marigny tour. All of them are wonderful and so fascinating! New Orleans is a place chock full of crazy history, so if you're visiting (or are a LOCAL) you should definitely check out a tour with this company. It's free, but make sure to tip them well at the end, they are a wealth of knowledge and each tour guide really invests part of themselves in their tour. Our favorite tour guide recently was Andrew F! If you can catch him on a tour, it will be your lucky day. :)

Loved the tour and our guide! Being a native, Kayla was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The dining recommendations list that she provided after the tour helped us find the best of the best food!
Thank you, Kayla and Free Tours By Foot!

Great French Quarter tour with Sandy. Informative, maintained a good pace, and good humor. We saw a couple of other tours on our way, and it was clear Sandy respects the homes/businesses and properties opting to stop off to the side or ensuring we were leaving room while others did not. We would enjoy another tour with her.

Took a ghost tour after taking a voodoo tour the first day we were here and it was amazing! Melissa was our first guide for the voodoo and she was so informative and passionate about everything that she talked about. Then we had Big Al for the ghost tour and he was so enthusiastic and excitable that everything he said drew us in. He answered all questions within the tour and random questions we had about New Orleans as well.

Don't miss the walking tour of the French Quarter with Andrew F. We signed up for the 10 am tour on Thursday morning and we were not disappointed! We learned so much about New Orleans culture, history, food, music and much more. Andrew was smart, knowledgeable and funny and we enjoyed every minute of the tour. He sent everyone an email immediately after the tour, as promised, with great information on more places to go out to eat, hear music and visit museums. We even changed our dinner plans after his tour to eat at a Creole restaurant he recommended (Tableau) and it was terrific. I highly recommend this tour as a great way to learn about New Orleans French Quarter and more!
Harmony VanEaton
We had three wonderful tours, all unique and full of character and history! We did the St Louis cemetery #1, the French Quarter tour, and the Garden District tour. Our guides were informative and loads of fun, I would want them all as friends! Will do more tours with this organization if we get a chance to go back. We had kids with us, and the guides engaged the kids too. Highly recommend!

My family went on a garden tour with Andrew and it was fantastic. He was full of knowledge and spoke very clear. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
We also went on a haunted walking tour with Alec. He was also very knowledge and his stories were very entertaining. I never knew there was so many haunted places!!!!!
I would recommend this to anyone visiting New Orleans. Great for any age!!!!
Justina Devino
My husband and I did the Garden District tour. Our guide, Andrew was EXCELLENT. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable on the history of New Orleans and the attractions but he was very personable, and was happy to give recommendations and feedback on what to do while we were here. The Garden District and Lafayette cemetery is definitely a great tour if you are staying in the French Quarter and want to see other historical parts of the city. Loved it.

During my trip to New Orleans I did 3 tours: Ghost Tour, Cemetery Tour, and Voodoo Tour. All 3 were absolutely amazing!
The ghost tour with Stacey was great! Super informative and you won’t get the cheesy costumes and stuff like some of the other companies we saw. She’ll tell you the history of New Orleans as we go from place to place, and will say why it is said to be haunted. Very interesting!
The cemetery tour with Kathy was great! It was such a hot day, and she had ice cubes and cold/wet Scott towels if we needed them to keep cool while we were in the cemetery. As we were walking from the French Quarter to the cemetery, Kathy gave us some history about the French Quarter, who was brought here and who lived here, and how it came to be. She gave us history and stories about the people and and graves in the cemetery. After the tour, she gave tips on where to eat lunch or where to go in the evenings for music.
The voodoo tour with Robi was amazing! He’s the only voodoo priest that does voodoo tours (his tour is at 10am). He shows you what voodoo is really about, a religion, not the what the movies try to depict it as. His interactions with everyone and how he involved us in telling the history of the voodoo religion was great! He was fun and really funny, and super informative. Great tour!
I highly recommend taking any of these 3 tours while in New Orleans, these tours and the tour guides were amazing!

My daughter and I visited New Orleans and did several Free Tours by Foot. The Ghost Tour with Daniel was a lot of fun. He is knowledgeable about his city and a history major who makes his living doing what he loves. The Voodoo Tour with Melissa was informative and fascinating. She had us captivated with stories of voodoo rituals and their history in New Orleans. We also enjoyed the St. Louis Cemetery Tour with Elizabeth. The tours are a great way to get an in depth tour with great guides who love their city! All the tours we took were given by guides native to New Orleans. They were superb!
Iqbal Fatkhi
Went on the French Quarter and Voodoo tours with Sandy, the Garden District tour with Daniel, and the Ghost Tour with Andrew. Had an amazing time each time learning all about the city’s culture and history. Ghost tour was undoubtedly the best one I’ve been on (and I’ve been on a LOT of ghost tours). 10/10 would recommend over any other tour operator that charge their price before you get to go on them.
Timeka Mckenzie
One of the best tours we have taken! Vodou with Priest Robi. Very educational and enjoyable. We've already sent people his way.
N Kizer
We did the French Quarter tour, and the French Quarter Ghost tour with Free Tours By Foot, and I can not say enough good things about our experience!
We had Andrew for our French Quarter tour, and he was great! He began the tour by asking everyone what interested them, or what they wanted to learn about, so he knew what talking points to hit and make sure everyone was included. He also made it a point to talk to everyone in between walking stops to ask about their trips, and gave recommendations for attractions/restaurants that we would like. He included so much history in his tour (which we loved) and pointed out things we would have walked right by and never noticed on our own.
For our Ghost Tour, we had Kyle for our tour, and he was fantastic! He was incredibly funny, and very informative. He also made sure he was sensitive for our 11 year old who took the tour with us, and made sure he had a good time as well. Not only did he talk about the creepy stories, but also the history behind the stories so we knew where the legends came from. And even with it raining through the tour, he had a great attitude and made sure everyone stayed under awnings and out of the rain as much as possible.
We highly recommend using this tour company for New Orleans. We also loved that the guides emailed us the day before, and day of the tour so we knew exactly where/when to meet, and included a photo of them, so we knew who to look for when we met up.
Andrew and Kyle were both Fantastic, very funny and informative. The tours ended up being our favorite thing we had done on our first trip to New Orleans!
Mark Pfeiffer
Sandy gave the Voodoo tour and it was excellent. I almost want to take it again so much history an information. Thank you Sandy I learned alot.
Joyce HP
Daniel was our tour guide for the Garden District Tour and he was excellent! Daniel was completely professional (on time, well-spoken, courteous) as well as very knowledgeable. Daniel’s passion for New Orleans history, coupled with his vast knowledge (he has a degree in history) make him an exceptional tour guide. You can ask him lots of questions beyond the scope of the tour and he is prepared to answer! He has a great sense of humor and does an outstanding job of keeping the people on his tour engaged. I highly recommend a tour with him!
Lenny Rigin
We did 2 tours with Andrew F. - French Quater tour and Music, Arts and more.. Outstanding!!! Andrew is easy going, very knowledgeable, great sense of humor , great tips and recommendations about New Orleans in general. During Music and Art tour we were listening to different types of jazz, which was so interesting and unique. Awesome communication before the tour and after about tour topic. Have been on a Free tours all around the world - Free tours by foot in NOLA are the best ! Highly recommend . Thanks Andrew, great job!!!!
Anna Hinkle
The best possible tour to learn about Nola history and food! You absolutely MUST take the voodoo tour with Robi, he’s a real-life voodoo priest and a fabulous, hilarious, vibrant person! I learned so much about his culture and religion and had the best time! The food tour was amazing and Kayla taught me so much about the history of food and sent a giant list of recommendations for best places to eat after. I would recommend both of them as they are Louisianan through and through and really know and enjoy what they are talking about!
Meghan Knapp
We recently went on a French Quarter tour with Sandy that was great. Not only was Sandy knowledgable about the history of New Orleans and the French Quarter, but she made the tour fun with her sarcasm and interesting stories. She was also great at keeping us in the shade. I would definitely recommend this tour (and Sandy as a tour guide in general) to anyone visiting New Orleans!
Bonnie Rosenfeld
Great Tour of the French Quarter and Music & Art
We were lucky enough to have Andrew F. as our tour guide in the French Quarter. And even though Andrew has probably done this tour a thousand times, he presented the history, sites and flavor to us as though it was a treasure he couldn't wait to share with us. We had such a great experience that we join Andrew later that afternoon for a Music and Art Tour - which was excellent as well. Andrew was well prepared and gave the right balance of stories with facts to make the experience wonderful.
What I loved best was that the tour did NOT feel scripted and Andrew was very open to answering all the questions we asked. I have been on many walking tours and I would give Andrew a A+ for giving a great tour.
Marybeth Dowson
What a great time we had yesterday on our Free Tours by Foot Food tour with tour guide Kayla! We learned so much about the history of New Orleans cuisine. Kayla was a master of delivering facts in a fun and entertaining manner. She has a real gift for sharing her knowledge while adding in humor as well as some small personal touches. Her food recommendations were all delicious and she even took the time to send us an extensive email listing local favorites that you may not otherwise hear of as a tourist! Honestly would recommend this tour to any one who loves food and has the desire to learn about the city. Not just for tourists, I think any one who moves here from elsewhere would benefit from the tour as well! Thanks Kayla for making the first day of our trip memorable! 5 stars, hands down.
Krystal Flynn
I had an great French Quarter tour with our guide Andrew. In fact it was so good, I had to go book the food tour experience with our guide Kayla! They both explained a lot about the history in New Orleans, narrated with personal experiences and had their own characteristics shine through. They were both fantastic!
Veronica Ashford
This was much better than any of the overpriced paid tours in the area. (we paid 20 a piece for the cemetery tour with a different company. The tour guide was awful.) We went on the voodoo tour with Melissa and then loved it so much that we came back for the ghost tour that night with Sandy. They were both excellent guides. They were both funny, knowledgeable, and very considerate towards the needs of the group. We loved finding a legitimate voodoo shop with Melissa. (we had just been to a crowded tourist trap the day before) And Sandy had recommended some great bars in the area. It was the most fun we had had all week!
Morgan White
We took the ghost tour and loved it! Highly recommend going with these guys. It’s a “pay what you think it’s worth” and we were happy to pay $20 each. Well worth it.
Tawny Laney
We did two awesome tours today! Robi did the VooDoo tour and Emily led the Ghost tour. While we encountered torrential downpours and a lightning storm during Robi’s tour and weren’t able to actually walk around (technically he said the tour had to be cancelled due to bad weather), his wealth of knowledge was priceless. Nobody wanted to leave and all stayed to hear what he had to teach us. He made us laugh, engaged with the group, got everyone participating and was simply amazing. I now have a much better understanding of VooDoo.
By the evening, the weather had cleared and we joined Emily on a ghost tour. She too was amazing. Very articulate and informative during our time with her. She was constantly attentive to those in her group and considerate of others outside of our group by making sure others could pass around us on the sidewalk and keeping her group safe from vehicular traffic. Sharing her own personal experience when she was formally a barista made the journey around the quarter even more enjoyable. She told of ghosts past and even more recent events. She had everyone so engaged throughout the tour, we all eagerly awaited the next stop.
This is definitely the way to go if you want to experience multiple tours and want to keep within your budget. When we returned to our hotel tonight, I immediately logged back in to the site to see what the options for tomorrow would be. Sadly, there was only one tour listed and it was currently booked out (although it wasn’t one I was necessarily considering anyway, so not a big deal really).
If you have the ability to book with either Robi or Emily, you are guaranteed to have a fun time.
June Hung
We really enjoyed these tours! We did two while we were in NOLA - the French Quarters and Ghost tour with Stacey. She was both informative and entertaining, and kept the group laughing. I think the French Quarters tour is definitely worth it to learn more about the history of New Orleans - there were some dark times. The ghost tour was fun too - Stacey took us to the actual buildings where there were murders or suicides. Overall, highly recommend. It's pay-what-you-want, so remember to show some love if you really enjoyed the tour!

We booked a group walking tour with Free Tours By Foot; the Voodoo Tour. Our tour guide was Sandy and she did an EXCELLENT job. She was very knowledgeable and her delivery definitely kept our interest. She was also able to project her voice well enough that a large group of seniors could hear her, that's a bonus. (We hope you don't have a sore throat after talking that loud!) If we choose another New Orleans tour, we hope it's one Sandy does because we will definitely request her!
Susan Gordon
We took 3 tours with Free Tours by Foot while in New Orleans. The Voodoo Tour with Robi was very informative and entertaining, Garden District tour with Daniel was excellent and he included lots of historical facts. Last one was the Ghost Tours with Stacy which was good, but she was a bit long-winded for our liking but did tell us lots of ghost stories but could have been more concise so it didn't drag on.
The company allows you to pay each guide what you felt the tours were worth and we felt this was a way for us to be with good guides as they were paid based on their efforts and that normally means a better tour, which for us was indeed the case.
We will choose this company again when we travel in the cities that offer it.
Melissa Gallanter
I took the culinary history tour in New Orleans with my family and our tour guide Kayla was AMAZING! Her passion for the city and for the food culture here seeped through every bit of information she gave us, and the anecdotes and personal stories made the whole tour feel like she was first-handedly telling us about when the city was developing its tastes. The time went so quickly and the information was all interesting, we loved the tour!
Dalia Turkenitz
We had Daniel as our guide in the French Quarter in New Orleans and it was a great tour! Daniel is soooo knowledgeable, so enthusiastic about the city and his work. He also sent us a list of recommneded places to see, restaurants to eat in and experiences to have in New Orleans during our stay. He really cares and wants people to appreciate and enjoy the place, which we dis. It was a very well spent 2 hours. Thanks you Daniel!
Arryn Beer
I've never been a part of such an informative, engaging walking tour. We did a tour through the French Quarter with Andrew as our guide, and he was the most knowledgeable and genuinely interested guide I've had. He does a really good job characterizing the city and its legacy, without shying away from the less palatable parts of history. After every stop he would check in with the group as a whole, making sure that we'd be covering all the aspects of New Orleans we wanted to know about. After my partner and I had spent the previous night in the revelry of Mardi Gras, Andrew showed us that there is so much more to the city than that (which goes without saying, but is so nice to be reminded of as a visitor).
We ended up visiting each of his recommendations over the rest of our trip, and were pleased with every one of them. Highly recommend asking him for any recommendations you desire - from vegan cuisine, to local theatre, to the best jazz in town.
Mark Araci
My family and I took a walking tour with Sandy with a voodoo focus but with a little history about the city chucked in for good measure. Sandy was fantastic, enthusiastic with what she was doing which made our experience all the better. She was able to inform and entertain us with her delivery, very highly recommended!
Jinelle Estes
We did the VooDoo tour. We had Robi who was absolutely amazing. He was funny, honest and authentic and it was the best way to learn about his culture right from the source. I even got a fun birthday blessing. I would recommend this tour to everyone and even take the tour again. We also did a ghost tour by Elizabeth the night before. She did a great job but New Orleans isn’t really that spooky. Voodoo was the way to go.
Michelle Lee
Joined Kayla, Kyle and Andrew for the food tour, French Quarter tour and garden district tour respectively. Had a good time in each of them. Guides were very nice and knowledgeable. I especially enjoyed the food tour with Kayla. Her explanation of the history of New Orleans while incorporating food in it was very interesting.
Autumn Mason
We had Sandy for the French quarter and voodoo tour, as well as Daniel for the garden district. Both were super knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. I really enjoyed Sandys humour, as she always had us laughing. And I loved how Daniel gave us facts about Walt Disney, made it even more special
Lindsey Roper
Andrew Farrier was our tour guide for the French Quarter in New Orleans and I could not praise him or the quality of the tour highly enough. He was one of the best tour guide I've ever had. Friendly, informative, funny, intelligent, kind, tactful and a fantastic storyteller, Andrew really made our experience in the French Quarter one of the best of our whole trip. He gave my friends and I a completely new perspective on New Orleans, shared fascinating stories about the location's history and his thorough list of recommendations made me resolve in my mind to return to New Orleans as soon as possible to experience more of that wild and wonderful city. Andrew obviously has a passion for places and people and I was so glad he shared that with us.
Vanhessa Xayaphet
My family and I did the free walking tour in New Orleans. We did the voodoo tour with Robi at 10 am and he was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. He was very lively and kept us on our toes. He is also the ONLY high priest in both Haitian and Louisiana voodoo, born and raised, so he really knew what he was talking about. He really educates the tourists of the history and religion of voodoo, and trust me, you’ll know more about New Orleans and voodoo once your done! Highly recommend!
Harrison Pearl
Sandy was awesome! Great, informative tour
Erica Larsen
We did the tour of the Garden District and I'm really happy we did! Our guide was super informative and charismatic despite working in 90° heat and about 900000% humidity. He was very conscientious of the heat and wellbeing of the folks on the tour and stopped regularly to check on us and make sure we were okay. He did cut the tour short due to the heat but that was completely understandable and I think we all would have suffered if we did the whole 2 hours.
Jennifer Paske
We had an amazing time on our cocktail tour of New Orleans. Sean was fantastic and we learned a lot, went to some great places and had some unique drinks. Thank you for providing such a fun time!
Janine Bird
Recently took the food/French market tour with Kayla and the Garden District/cemetery tour with Sarah. Both were superb. We use this group for tours whenever the are in the city we are visiting and have NEVER been disappointed. Kayla loves food, loves New Orleans and loves it’s history. Take her tour!
And Sarah loves what she does. The Garden District is so full of history and stories and Sarah tells many. It’s not a ton of walking but there’s a lot of information to take in. While the cemetery is closed or refurbishment right now, we stood outside of the gates and learned of its traditions and history. Fascinating.
Best tours ever!!!

I had a wonderful time with Tours by Foot in Nola! It was a great way to learn more about the eclectic city and explore new parts of New Orleans from a more local perspective. The weather in March felt great even when raining so I went on 3 tours during my stay.
Voodoo Tour: Our guide Robi was fantastic! I highly recommend taking his vodu tour. He has a wonderful big bubbly personality that makes the group band together and have fun. He also has fantastic insights as a double vodu priest. I learned so much and would definitely do it again.
Ghost Tour: Our guide Elizabeth was very knowledgeable and fun. It was an interesting and well organized ghost tour. I appreciated her candidness and story telling skills. It was cool to see a different side of the city at night.
French Quarter: Will provided the group with great snippets of the neighborhood culture. I would definitely recommend this tour for those that enjoy history as most of the tour involves this subject. As a resident of the French Quarter, Will gave some great restaurant and museum advice as well. Great way to start a trip in Nola.
Carolyn Russell
Absolutely loved all of the tours I took this weekend! They were all very informative. Robi’s Voodoos tour was so interesting and loads of fun. Andrew was full of great information on the French District tour. Also had fun and learned lots with Stacey on the ghost tour and the cocktail tour! Thanks so much everyone!
I highly recommend everyone to take these tours!
Alan Soloway
Kayla was great! We went yesterday and she managed to keep us out of the sun for the discussion part of the tour. It was a very hot and humid day so we really appreciated that. The tour itself was very informative. I loved learning about the history and influences of New Orleans cuisine. We went to a few restaurants and just enjoyed the tour. I would highly recommend it!
Charity Kroeker
We attended the cemetery tour with Elizabeth B. Two years ago, we joined Elizabeth on the French Quarter tour. Both of them were terrific! Elizabeth's presentation was very smooth and informative, sprinkled with humor. We were running late to the cemetery tour, but Elizabeth made it very easy for us to catch up with the group. She is friendly and inviting.
We've also done the Voodoo tour with Robi, who is hilarious and so animated. If you are hoping to do a lot of walking and see the city, the Voodoo tour is NOT this. It takes place almost entirely within Louis Armstrong Park. However, you will learn so much from Robi - and it will be a lot of fun. We have always been impressed and delighted with Free Tours by Foot.
Sue Long
Fantastic! We booked the tour of the French quarter and were very fortunate to have Andrew F. He made the tour interesting and fun and we would recommend him highly. Brilliant from start to finish with so much fascinating history, places to eat and drink. Definitely worth a large tip. Well worth it to give you an insight into life in New Orleans.
Rebecca Gleave
On our first night in New Orleans, my partner and I were very uninspired after taking a trip down Bourbon Street and wondered how on earth we would fill up our 4 days in this city!!? So we booked ourselves in for the walking tour of the French Quarter, and thank goodness we did! Our tour guide, Andrew, really helped us to see beyond Bourbon Street and showed us how cool his home is. Andrew was charismatic, welcoming and has a genuine interest in ensuring all participants on the tour needs are met.
The tour was easy to book online, the communication from the tour guide in the form of an email the night before was excellent, the tour guide was easy to find and the tour itself was of a very high quality. I would HIGHLY recommend doing the walking tour of the French Quarter while you’re in New Orleans. You won’t regret it!
As well as the walking tour, we also did the self-guided driving tour by Free Tours by Foot. This driving tour was based around the effects of Hurricane Katrina and was a highlight of our 4 week trip across the States. The driving tour was engaging and enabled us to see a corner of the city that we never would have without doing this driving tour - along with gracing our tastebuds with possibly NOLAs BEST Po-boy from Parkway Bakery. The commentary (who actually was also Andrew who we had met the day before as he was the tour guide for the walking tour) was engaging, interesting, eloquent and well timed for the drive. It would be important to mention that doing this tour would be very difficult to navigate without a passenger reading the directions. But regardless, we would HIGHLY recommend to anyone if you have access to a hire car.
Thanks so much for your time and sharing your knowledge, Andrew!
Lilla Lee
I went on New Orleans ghost tour with Alec, and he was the best tour guide I’ve ever had. He is knowledgeable, polite, personable, and professional, but also very funny and witty. I have a very short attention span, but Alec was such a great orator and a storyteller that I was engaged through the entirety of the tour. I only wished I went on this tour at the beginning of my trip because he has fantastic recommendations of where to eat and hang out in the city. If you want to learn about New Orleans history and ghosts, go on this tour with Alec! You won’t regret it.
Jose Acosta
My friend and I made an reservation for the French Quarter walking tour on October 3, 2019. Our tour guide-- Andrew F. did a GREAT job informing us about the history of New Orleans. This was our first time on a walking tour, and we are glad to experience the informative side of the French Quarter. Andrew would always answer our questions, and also gave us which restaurants he recommends to eat. He also sent us an email with all of the museums and restaurants that he discussed about during the walking tour. I highly recommend making an reservation with Free Tour by Foot- New Orleans!!
Kathy Antieau
We had a wonderful time with our guide Kayla on the Free Tours By Foot Food Tour. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about the history and different styles of cooking and also shared a lot of her personal experiences being a New Orleans area native. From start to finish this is a excellent tour. She provided us an email with information at the beginning so we knew what to expect and an email at the end with her recommendations for area restaurants. This was a great way to start our visit in New Orleans. Thank you Kayla and Food Tours by Foot for your excellent service!!

I took the New Orleans ghost tour last night with my daughters. Our tour guide was Alec, and he did an amazing job showing us around! He was extremely knowledgeable, very personable, and was able to infuse enough humor to keep the skeptics engaged. It was easy to feel how much passion he holds for New Orleans and it's history. I wholeheartedly recommend booking this, or any, tour with Alec.
Theloggs
The "Music, Arts and More" free walking tour of New Orleans was fabulous! Andrew F is one of the best tour guides I've ever had anywhere. He is extremely knowledgeable about the subjects, while also being fun and entertaining to listen and interact with. Well worth the time!
Deborah McGott
We did the French Quarter Food Tour and loved it! I was expecting to try delicious food and learn a ton but I was still surprised! Kayla was such an awesome tour guide, so funny and informative! This tour was probably our favorite part of our trip to NOLA :)
Sandy Pickering
Daniel was a great guide. Totally different historical information than what we had gotten from some other tours. Really enjoyed his point of view as a historian. I would definitely recommend this tour and ask to see if Daniel is the leader!
Kelly M
What a great time we had on all 6 of the walking tours we did with Free Tours by Foot. We did the Ghost, Voodoo, Garden District, French Quarter, Food, and Cocktail tours. So much fun and so informative. The tour guides love their city and it's history. They amazed us with the depth of their knowledge. We got to see and do things we could not have done on our own. I've done many tours with this company in several cities and have never been disappointed.

Sandy was a hoot! We did the voodoo tour and learned so much - I definitely recommend it. Sandy mixed good humor with captivating stories to educate us on the true history of voodoo. In 2 hours we learned so much and had a blast. You can tell Sandy is so passionate about New Orleans and it’s unique history. We enjoyed her candor, humor, and transparency in sharing this history. An awesome tour!
Lauri Hassinger
We took three Tours by Foot while in New Orleans. All were great but the best was the Voodoo Tour with Robi. We learned so much and it is the tour we still talk about. A must for everyone. I highly recommend it.
The other tours we took were the Ghost and Garden Tours. They too were very good and worthwhile.
Marian Quattro
I have done 2 tours in NOLA with FTBF and they were both amazing.
Andrew was the guide for the jazz music and he is so knowledgeable and passionate about music and NOLA in general. Lovely guy who knows so much about NOLA and is more than happy to share it all!
Stacey was the guide for the ghost tour. She has researched a lot about all the fascinating details of NOLA. I liked her informative and upbeat tour of the city!
Kristen Haltom
Andrew did an awesome job with the garden tour!
Annie Cortes
I learned about this company after watching a YT video that popped up on my feed since I was researching what to do prior to the trip. Robi and I believe her name is Sandy, were speaking about the city's vodou history. I am soo glad I did not miss out on this tour with him! He is an excellent, fun and ideal guide. He offered precipitating events that connect to the history of the religion etc. I can go on. If you are interested in this religion then you will not be disappointed. I mean tje group was fun amd laid back as well. I also took the ghost tour with Emily. Another fun option to learn more history. They were punctual and emails were sent out with contact information to reach out before and after the tour.
Mercedes Bradley
I took 4 tours with this company while in New Orleans. All of them were well organized and my guides were very good at leading a group and keeping us engaged. Walking tours are always the first thing you should do when traveling because it orients you well to a city.
Special shout out to Andrew who did two of my tours. He sends you an outrageously comprehensive email that you could base a while itinerary off of. Very exceptional guide.
Ingrid S
Awesome tours, so happy we went for these. Did the Ghost Tour with Daniel (?) and also the Garden District Tour with Sean, and both were awesome. Very much appreciate this service, please don't forget to tip your tour guides!
Scott Vallance
The Voodoo tour with Robi was hands down the best tour I’ve taken in NOLA. He made the tour fun, interactive, inclusive, and his knowledge and passion were on full display. He even gave us a recommendation for lunch and it was the best meal I’ve had in a LONG time.
Linda Sweeney
The tours are a great way to see and learn about the city. We did three tours in two days and all were so informative. The Voodoo tour with Robi was informative and Robi was very entertaining. Dan led us on both the French Quarter and the Garden District / Lafayette Cemetery tour and he was an absolutely terrific guide. Dan is very knowledgeable and has great delivery - I could have listened to him all day. We tipped around 25-40 per person per tour. Highly recommend, and will would like to take the ghost tour next time I am in the wonderful city of New Orleans.
Lara Huempfner
My two teens (13 & 15) and I took a 2 hour walking tour with Stacey. She is extremely knowledgeable about the area. She also had an enthusiasm about sharing the info. The tour lasted over 2 hours. She mentioned a number of other museums (most are state museums so $6/pp entry) and sites to see in our travels
I would highly recommend this tour to get a nice overview of the French Quarter. Free Tours by Foot are my “go to” tour company when we travel. And this one was as up to the standards we’ve come to enjoy. Thank you!
Laura Davidson
My mom and I had a cocktail tour by a wonderful lady Stacey. She was an absolute fountain of information, she answered all the questions our group had. It was an absolutely amazing experience.
If I ever go back to New Orleans, I will for sure be looking into other tours!
Flo Cunningham
We did the Music, Art and more tour with Andrew F -- he is so knowledgeable not just about the historical music/art/culture of New Orleans, but also about contemporary musicians, artists, etc. He brought the tour to life by playing music as he talked about the musicians and taking us to key sites. And then he followed up with a long email about all the upcoming cultural events in the city -- going above and beyond for any tour guide I've ever had! I highly recommend his tour!
Robin Bailey
We did several tours while we were in NOLA. The FTBF tours were the best. While all of our guides were good, Andrew F for the French Quarter and Garden District tour really went above and beyond. He was such an easy person to talk to and even after the tour made himself available for questions. He also sent great recommendations of things to do, eat, hear, and see. Robi for the Voodoo tour was also exceptional. We learned so much in such a fun and engaging way. He is a real Voodoo priest- you won't find that with any other tour company. Andrew F and Robi really made our vacation one the best we have every taken. The tours were fun and educational. Take these tours, you will not regret it.

We weren't sure about doing a ghost tour in New Orleans but thought we would try it. Stacey was our guide and she was amazing. From her quick e-mail responses to questions before the tour to her wonderful story telling and obvious love of the city we couldn't have been happier. Would definitely recommend this tour to anybody who visits this great city!
My Trinh
We did the food tour with Kayla Lemaire and she was awesome! She gave a bunch of details during the tour and gave a great perspective on different foods to try in New Orleans. I really appreciated that she also sent a full list of places after the tour too to make it easy for us to remember what we visited and other places to try. Overall a really fun and exciting tour!
Amanda Maurier
Sandy Hester is an incredible tour guide. She was well informed, entertaining, and a skilled storyteller. She guided a small group of us through the haunted hot spots of the French Quarter. She was very funny and her historical narratives were critical and scrupulous. At the end of the tour I felt terrified and lightly roasted... it was a lot of fun! I overheard another tour guide’s telling off the same story as we passed and felt even more fortunate to have Sandy for a guide. Also, she has a fine fashion sense.

Very nice tour!
We joined 3 tours and I have learned a lot.
First night was ghost tour with Elizabeth. Then we have food tour with Kayla, lastly we joined Sarah for the Garden district tour.
They were all fun and so knowledgeable.
This is a great way to learn the stories of the city and hope to see more👍🏻
Helento Robson
Sean was great, very knowledgeable and theatrical in his presentation keeping it interesting all the way through.
Trent Pcenicni
We took the voodoo tour with Sandy. She was friendly, funny, knowledgeable and a total delight. The great payment model insures you a good value because you pay for the tour you get not the one promised by other companies. Very accurate information and no exaggeration or disrespect for the cultures that built this religion. Highly recommend!
Dale Powell
The New Orleans Food Tour was very informative. Kayla, the guide, was very knowledgeable about the types of food available in the area, including the differences in the way different groups of people prepare them. She also knew a lot about the restaurants in southern Louisiana besides New Orleans. The only criticism that I have is that the portions provided on the tour were fairly small.
Spencer Steed
My mother and I signed up for the St. Louis Cemetery #1 tour. The tour was led by Teri & Kathy; Teri being our main guide. She was beyond wonderful! She was intelligent in the rich history of New Orleans, you could tell that she loved the city and loved that you were interested in learning about it. She loved being asked questions. Teri was very hospitable as well, as this was a walking tour in June; very hot, very humid. She made sure we took advantage of all shade opportunities, she had ice packs and cold towels for those who needed it, and she made sure we had time to purchase water from the local street sellers.
We also did the Garden District/Lafayette Cemetery with Denver. He was a terrific guide as well. Luckily this tour was more hidden from the sun. Denver could tell you many stories about the cemetery and gave many interesting facts about the mansions on the tour. Very enjoyable tour guide, funny too.
Fantastic tours, fantastic company. Highly recommended. Thank you!
APEX Academy Of Martial Arts
My wife and I just did the Voodoo Tour with Priest Robi and all I can say was WOW what a fantastic tour!!! He was very energetic and eager to share his knowledge with the group. We did 4 tours this weekend and his is the best hands down. We cant wait to go back and do his tour again
Jessica Joyce
We did a night ghost tour and had a great time. Our guide, Stacy, was very informative in New Orleans history and legends. She was very entertaining and funny. Our tour was based in the French Quarter and was a lot more standing than walking. I would highly recommend this company and our guide!
Poster Sauce
Andrew F conducted a terrific tour of the Garden District in New Orleans. He gave our group excellent explanations of local history of the area and the old cemetery, as well as architectural styles of the stately homes, along with info on celebrities current and past inhabiting them. He has an engaging and intelligent way of getting all this across, is generous with his time and attention, and even emailed tips on more to see and where to eat. Highly recommend!
Julie Schultz
We had Daniel give us an evening ghost tour. He was great! Smart interesting funny and friendly. Right on time and reached out after we booked to make sure we knew how to find him. Great tour company and even better guide in Daniel!
Olivia Lambdin
I had three tours while I was in New Orleans and all of them were fantastic! I took the Garden District tour with Denver, the ghost tour with Elizabeth and the Voodoo tour with Melissa. All of the tour guides were excellent and clearly knew what they were talking about. Highly recommended and would do again!
Carmit Ziv
I went on three tours while in Orleans. Kyle took us on a lovely tour of the French quarter, and on another day we had him as our guide for the ghost tour. Kyle was knowledgeable and fun and we especially liked the ghost tour.
We had Kayla as our guide for the food tour. Even though I wasn’t at the rendezvous place on time, Kayla made sure that I found the group. The store is great for learning about Louisiana culture through food. Thank you Kyle and Kayla!
Amber Bradley
We did the 9:30am St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 tour today, and Kathy was the best guide! She was so energetic, knowledgeable, funny, and kind. We honestly couldn't have asked for a better guide. Despite the rain and cold, she kept every minute entertaining and fascinating. Her enthusiasm for her hometown, well researched knowledge of the cemetery, and history of the city kept us hanging on every word. Thanks so much for such a wonderful time! I will highly suggest this tour to any friends of ours who visit here.
David Daniel
We took four Free Tours by Foot, the music, cemetery, ghost, and French Quarter tours. We enjoyed all of the time we spent and learned a lot about New Orleans that we would probably not have learned by ourselves. In addition, the format of walking around to the sights and learning about them as you go is one that we enjoy and would recommend to anyone who has not tried it. We do them almost everywhere we go.
The company seemed very well organized for booking the tour, meeting, and execution as well. We got confirmation emails and texts, and everything was very clear about where and when to meet.
We had two of our tours with Andrew F - he was awesome! He was knowledgeable about the town, music, and was also entertaining in his presentations. In addition, he gave us lots of practical advice - authentic restaurants and music venues (not the touristy ones), and even sent an extensive list via email after the tour. He was also willing to talk a bit after the tour and answered our specific questions - great recommendations in all cases. If you get Andrew as your guide, you will not be disappointed.
David Sh
I've done 4 of these tours this week in New Orleans. All were very good, but Andrew was by far the best guide (French quarter tour). Not only was he really knowledgeable & interesting during the tour; but afterwards he emailed a really comprehensive guide on "what's on next few days" & "where to go". Highly recommended!
Tyler o
I did the voodoo tour in New Orleans with sandy! She was a great guide with a contagious glowing energy and was super knowledgeable of all of the sights we saw. Her sense of humor and openness made everyone comfortable to ask questions- even if it was completely off topic of what we were learning about! I’m glad I took this tour! Would definitely take one with the company and/or sandy again!
Christie Norbury
Voodoo Tour with Robi was EXCELLENT! We discovered him toward the end of our trip, which was too bad because learning what he taught us, we would have had a much more authentic trip through NOLA. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Connor Christensen
The Voodoo tour was great! Sandy was our guide and was very knowledgeable and thorough. I loved being able to walk around the historic French Quarter and Louis Armstrong Park and learn about the history of the religion and those that practiced it. I definitely recommend this company for this tour, and I'm sure their other tours.
Allison King
We had a great tour of the Garden District with Andrew F! The group was a big one at around 30 people so we were split into two groups. Andrew did an amazing job weaving the history of New Orleans into the architectural decisions and home ownerships of the various buildings around the district. He was a great storyteller!
Ed Brown
Took 2 tours and they were both wonderful! The guides were extremely knowledgeable. St Louis cemetery #1 with Carol was excellent. She gave a ton of history of the Creole side of the city. Then the Garden District with Mathew was also great! He went over the American side of the history in the area. Highly recommend both! And the tours are pay what you want. There is a $2 fee required for St Louis cemetery but then you decide how much to tip your guide. They both earned every penny and more of what we gave.
Jing Lu
I had wonderful experiences with the tours offered by Free Tours by Foot.
I did the Garden district tour and also the voodoo tour in NOLA. Both tour guides were awesome. They are very knowledgable about the place and have a lot of insights about culture and history.
Service was excellent! You receive information email the day before the tour and also email contains information about the city, where to eat and see things after the tour.
Unlike other paid tour companies, you pay tips to your tour guide and he or she keep the tips. You decide the amount of tips based on the service you received. This is a better concept to reward the tour guides!
Rachel Shoener
This was a fantastic tour of New Orleans... We learned about the history of the city, culture and people, and local cuisine. Kayla was a great guide, providing personal stories and knowledge that added flavor to the overall experience. We tasted some of the best dishes in the city. With Kayla's additional recommendations, we are going to try some other dishes and restaurants. I can't say enough great things about this tour!
Thank you Kayla!!
Justin Giles
We did two tours from Free Tours by Foot while in New Orleans and we could not have been happier. Our guide for the morning french quarter tour was extremely knowledgeable and made it fun for everyone. Kyle was our ghost tour guide later that night. Kyle also knew his stuff and was hilarious. He had the entire group laughing all night. The communication for both was great. Knew where to meet and who to look for. Highly recommend! It may not cost anything upfront but when you have a great experience you're willing to pay more for it. I think that's why this system works. The guides seem to really love what they do. Will definitely be using them again.
R Cooper
Our tour guide Stacy was awesome! Fun historic facts mixed with Ghost stories. Great storytelling!
Jessica Goodwin
Our tour guide was Sandy H. for the St. Louis Cemetery #1 tour and she was really good. We learned a lot from her and was very informative. It was our first time in New Orleans and this is the only thing we came in town for, for now. You pay your guide what you feel if right and only pay a small fee to book. You wont regret it.
Amanda (TravelTokWithAmanda)
The tour was great! Andrew really knows his stuff! He gave us a lot of great information and insight on the true history or New Orleans. This is a pay what you want tour but he is worth every penny. As you can tell I’m pretty sure he runs this group! Make sure to wear your waking shoes & be prepared to walk about 1-1.5 miles! My only disclaimer would be, I didn’t know I couldn’t record him so just passing on the pro tip! You can always listen to the recorded voice version on YouTube. (I was trying to recorded the story about Muriel’s for my aunt 😂). But seriously take the tour y’all!
Mark Johnson
Our tour guide Alec was fantastic. Fully recommend this as a way to get a comprehensive, interesting, and enthusiastic introduction to the history and culture of New Orleans. We did the tour of the French quarter and two hours went by incredibly quickly! Coming from a base knowledge of zero I felt like I learnt a huge amount about the city, its architecture, arts, culture, economics, and more. We were very lucky to have such a well-informed, engaging, and approachable guide.
Maisy Flowers
Robi's Voodoo Tour was probably one of the best things we did in New Orleans. As one of the only real Vodou High Priests giving tours in the city, Robi was super entertaining and personable while also giving tons of great information about the real religion of Vodou, its history, how it came to the city, and how vastly it differs from the picture we get of "voodoo" from the media.
Robi's whole life has been steeped in Vodou with both his mom and his father's family being involved in the religion in New Orleans and Haiti respectively, so he brings perspectives from several areas and variations of the religion. He's a double high priest in both of those varieties of Vodou, and shares much about his religion while also being hilarious and so much fun to be around. I would 1000% recommend this tour to every single person who comes to New Orleans and will definitely be returning to him the next time we're in the city.
Kellie Woodard
If you take the Voodoo tour, you definitely need to request Robi Gilmore! He was AMAZING! I cannot say enough wonderful things about him. He is a High Priest in both traditional Louisiana Voodoo and Haitian Voodoo, so he is extremely knowledgeable. He was engaging, fun, funny, and everything we could have wanted for a tour guide. The four of us in my party all agreed it was the absolute highlight of our first trip to New Orleans. Highly recommend the voodoo tour with Robi!
Simon Jeff
Did the Voodoo walk with Robi. What a great walk, Robin was wonderful.
Sarah Christian
We did the Free Tours by Foot tour of the Garden District and Lafayette Cemetery while in New Orleans and had such a blast. Our tour guide, Sarah, was amazing! Entertaining, extremely knowledgeable, and willing to answer pretty much any random question you have to throw at her. The tour was two hours long, majority spent in the Garden District learning about the architecture, history, and passing by the homes of some famous residents. We all learned an incredible amount of history. I highly recommend for anyone who is visiting New Orleans for the first time or has been visiting New Orleans for years, there's so much to learn you can't go wrong!
Christine Baumgart
Wehad 2 tours with Sandy. I highly recommend her tours.
Marissa Maerten
We did a tour of the Saint Louis Cemetery with Kyle and thought he was an amazing tour guide. He’s super knowledgeable and delivers the information really well. We enjoyed his tour so much we decided to go on the ghost walk tour he was leading that night instead of one with a different tour company. Again he was just as good as he was earlier in the day. He even gave my friend his water bottle when she had a really bad coughing fit. We really loved Kyle and honestly considered trying to do all the New Orleans tours with him!
Natalie Mattice
We have consistently booked with Free tours by foot in New Orleans, and this last trip was no exception! With expanding their tours and knowledgeable tour guides, we never look elsewhere!
Janelle Jirau
I did three tours, and each tour guide had their own personality which made every experience unique. Sarah was my tour guide for Lafayette No. 1/Garden district. She was full of life and answered all the questions to the best of her abilities. While being fun and light hearted she provided us with an immense amount of information. Renee was my tour guide for Treme. She was extremely professional and very informative. She offered the true New Orleans experience being that she is a local, and she was able to explain the true effects of changes in the community, but never being negative about any of it. Kyle was my tour guide for the Ghost stories tour and he was by far the funniest. He offered us so much history about the buildings we were seeing, but also joked about something to keep the tour from being too gloomy or scary, which was awesome.
Thomas Robustelli
Elizabeth was a wonderful guide. Friendly, engaging and a wealth of knowledge about New Orleans and the cemetery. We enjoyed our tour and she also took time to speak with us afterward for tips on where to eat and find entertainment. I highly recommend this tour!
Rebeca Denahan
Kayla Lemaire was our tour guide at the food tour in the French quarter in New Orleans and she wonderful! Having a local tell you more about the history is great! She was personable and kept us highly entertained. I did the tour with my husband and my two kids (8 & 10) and she even won them over! Highly recommended.
Lea Kalisch
We took the Cemetery tour with Daniel and the Treme tour with Robert! Both were excellent, different in style but very informative, engaging, fun! Would definitely recommend them!
Genia Kirton
If you want to know about the basic history of New Orleans please take this French Quarter tour. I loved it. Sandy showed us everything we needed to see in a timely manner. She was informative and had good humor. I look forward to taking other tours from this company. But if you can’t make it… look them up on YouTube! Same great information and access to the other tours
Leanne Buitendijk
This was a great tour, if you want to get the real voodoo deal, go join this tour. Dont believe hollywood!
Stacey Mitchell
I took a tour with Free Tours by Foot with my sister who helped me move to New Orleans. It was not only informative, but gave me important and fascinating history lessons of my new city. I will be using Free Tours with every future friend and family member who comes to visit me--the tour was engaging, fascinating, and informative. I took Priest Robi's voodoo tour.
James Lake
I've taken Free Tours By Foot 4 times in New Orleans (twice in the Garden District, twice in the French Quarter) and it's been extraordinary. You really learn SOOOOO much in the span of just 2 hours. I have to HIGHLY recommend taking the French Quarter tour, and if you are lucky enough to get Kayla as your - you're in for a treat :) I really loved how she put a moral to each story she told, she's highly animated, and her accent is truly delightful. All the tour guides I've had were great, and each has their own style. You pay what you want at the end. Bring water, a hat, and don't forget to ask questions. Enjoy!
Carl W.
It was hot but we still loved the tour. We have two young kids that went on the tour with us. They even enjoyed the tour, especially Marie Laveau's tomb and all of the information. Elizabeth was a great tour guide. She was even very mindful of the kids on the tour and let us know when she was going to give us some information that would be more than they needed to know. We would take a tour with Free Tours by Foot again.
Victoria Blanchard
Took the Voodoo Tour with Sandy and it was incredible! She was so captivating and hysterical. Chick really knows her stuff! Thank you so much for the in depth insight. Would recommend Sandy and this company over and over again! 10/10
Alina V
My friends and I took the French Quarter tour with Kyle as our guide and a St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 tour with Kathy and they were fantastic. Kyle was very informative, eloquent and had a great sense of humor. He made it fun and easy touring the French Quarter for my friend’s first time. Kathy was a very caring and passionate guide on our tour of the cemetery. Her native pride and enthusiasm was really infectious and made the tour a really enjoyable experience.
Anna Chan
I spent 4 days Nola and participated in a different tour each day which was so much fun. The local guides are very entertaining, adding history and depth to each walk. Highly recommend the following tours: Garden District, French Quarter, Treme & Voodoo. My fave was the Cocktail tour by Stacey who takes you to the oldest and most beautiful restaurants / bars where you can drink the local Szarac, absinthe, hurricane and grasshopper!
Melissa C
We did a ghost tour with Stacey and LOVED it! She was very informative and educational to the history of the city, but still keeping with the ominous vibe of the stories she was telling! She was also very funny the entire time! We will definitely be taking another tour through town again!!
Pamela Howard
I recently did the French Quarter Culinary History Tour with Kayla Lemair. She was terrific! Her tour was funny and interesting, and I learned a great deal about the food culture in New Orleans. She was the best guide I had during this visit! I would strongly recommend her tour to any visitor. She shares all kinds of hilarious anecdotes and tips about where to eat. She also informs you about the difference between Cajun and Creole cooking - fantastic! Next time, I'll try to take her tour first, so I know where to go to eat. I wish I had taken more notes!!!
Emily Ghan
Stacey was an incredible tour guide! We learned so much about the history of New Orleans with ghost stories included! Friendly and funny and most importantly, historically accurate information and loud enough so we could all easily hear her! The tour was the perfect duration and distance - would highly recommend!
Monica Ahlers
Went on three of the free walking tours: the french quarter tour, the ghost tour, and the garden tour. All were great ways to learn more about the city with very knowledgeable tour guides. Our best tour was with Kyle in the garden district! He was very enthusiastic and knew a lot about the city. It was really great to hear him debunk some of the common misconceptions and stories throughout the tour!
kk Mai
We just arrived in New Orleans and decided to take the French Quarter tout given by Andrew F. This was the best choice we could’ve made. Andrew was knowledgeable and incredibly kind. He balanced history, food and sightseeing recommendations perfectly. He also went and gave us personalized advice on how to spend the rest of our day after we told him our general plans. We can’t recommend this tour enough and if you can pick Andrew as your guide, know that you will be in good hands.
Mia Whitfield
I LOVED the Music and Arts tour by Andrew Farrier and the Voodoo tour by Melissa Huguenot. They were both extremely knowledgeable and personable and I learned a lot! Andrew had samples of music he played for us as he described the history and evolution of music in NOLA, took a great group photo of us all in Louis Armstrong park, and capped it off with an email chock full of local recommendations. Melissa has close ties to the present-day Voodoo community so was able to debunk myths and share stories in a vibrant way that made the knowledge come to life. Thanks, Andrew & Melissa! I highly recommend Free Tours by Foot. Although they are free, be sure to tip your knowledgeable guide well at the end!
Marissa Joers
This company is GREAT. We have used them all over the country, and their New Orleans tour guides are no exception to the incredible service they provide us on our various expeditions around the city. We took 5 different tours with 4 different tour guides: Kyle for the Garden District, Kayla for the French Quarter & Culinary, Stacey for Cocktails, and Sean for St. Louis Cemetery #1. Every single one of them brought their own twist and flavor to their tours, and they were a joy to be around.
Jorge Tannous
Kayla was my Food Tour guide. She did amazing! I went to New Orleans by myself and the best thing I could do was to reserve Free Tours by Foot, there was always something to do. But my favorite was definitely the Food Tour, and it was thanks to Kayla!. There was sooo much history involved in our route (more than any other tour I took) She is so energetic, positive and smart. Made every minute worth!
Alex Peck
Had an amazing time on the French Quarter tour and the St. Louis Cemetery tour! They were both very informative and both tour guides had a wealth of knowledge about the history of the city that they were able to pass along to us on the tour. The group sizes are fairly small (10-12 per tour), so it definitely feels personalized and you have plenty of opportunities to ask questions throughout. We both were incredibly satisfied with the tours and highly recommend this company if you are planning any trips to New Orleans!
Valentine Bordes
I took three tours with that company in NOLA and they were all exceptional!
I had two tours with Stacey (Ghost Tour and Cocktail Tour) and one with Andrew (Garden District). The tour guides were very knowledgeable, friendly, patient, personable, accommodating (everything you need in a tour guide). They walked at a normal pace, so it was easy to take pictures and catch up with the group. After the tour are over, they were both willing to answer questions about food, trip planning etc.
I discovered a lot more about NOLA thanks to them. I discovered a new drink (Ramos Gin Fizz), learned fun facts about local culture and even shared a meal with one of them after a tour.
The tours tend to book fast, so book early. Try to arrive on time; some tour guides will wait a few minutes or call no-shows. Bring your camera, a good sense of humor, good walking shoes and your are all set.
Thanks Stacey and Andrew for sharing your love of New Orleans with me.
Armando Riesco
Great job, Daniel!! Good mix of history, architecture pop culture, and humor.
Maïwenn D
Highly recommend Andrew.F for his music and art tour on Friday and Saturday !! We spend 2 hours with him and that was so great! We learned a lot about jazz beginnings, how music fusion happened in NOLA, where and with whom that happened... He also gave us a lot of tips for enjoying even more the city through music bands venue.
Thanks a lot Andrew !
Monique Breaux
Sandy was amazing. I loved her honest and scholarly take on voodoo and slavery in New Orleans. She was very patient with my hyperactive kids and their thousands of questions. Will be doing another of her tours the next time we come out to Louisiana.
nassim mir
Give a nice review of the Garden District and recommendation for Commander's Palace. Lacked info about architecture and more historical detail. Unfortunately the cemetry was closed. Our guide was professional and continued the tour while it rained on all of us. Wish him the best and may he stay healthy.
Ancora Imparo
I took the Arts, Music & More Tour w Andrew F. He is a fountain of knowledge about New Orleans. You can tell he feels passionate about the subjects he discusses. After the tour he gave us suggestions on music venues and other worthwhile events to check out. He was awesome and it was great to have the YouTube videos come to life!
Duc Button
We really enjoyed the music and art tour with Andrew. He is very knowledgeable and the examples of music and art were great.
We also took the food tour with Kayla. She told us about the origin of the food and history of the area. She had a good sense of humor. Thanks Kayla.
Carolann Zanet
Sean was FANTASTIC. I highly recommend taking the garden district walking tour. It was a great afternoon and we learned so much about this beautiful area.
Christian Vaughn
My friend and I took the garden district walking tour with Andrew. We’ve been to New Orleans multiple times, and we have been on many walking tours. This tour and tour guide was BY FAR the best tour I’ve been on in the city. The knowledge, charisma, and humor of our tour guide Andrew kept us entertained and informed the entire tour. This tour is well worth it! BUT! please don’t forget to tip your amazing tour guides!
Maria Hester
We did the French Quarter tour with Sean, the ghost tour with Alec, and the Cemetery #1 tour with Kyle. All of them were awesome!!! They are very good at their jobs and keep the tours interesting. I think if I had to choose Alec was my favorite guide, but I recommend all of them. :)
Cyndi Soroka
I signed up for the French Quarter tour and was lucky to have Renee as the tour guide. She was fun & informative-one of my top experiences while in NOLA. I highly recommend going on at least one of the offered walking tours to really learn more about the culture & history of the city.
Ambreen Sonawalla
We went to New Orleans for just 2 days but this was one of the highlights of our visit. Stacey was our tour guide and she gave us a thoroughly enjoyable and humorous two hour trip through the history and culture of the city, talking of the city's beginnings, wars, famous people, and social norms, which made the visit a richer experience. She was also very warm, and accommodating when some people were lost. Would definitely recommend this!
Jorge Acosta
We cannot recommend enough free tours by foot in New Orleans, we had a great time getting to know the complex and interesting history of this city. Our tour guide, Andrew F. , made the music, literature and history tour very likable and interesting. This is a must-do activity while you’re in New Orleans.
Mariam Haroun
Voodoo tour --> Robi was one of the best tour guides I've ever had the pleasure of seeing! He included each and every person as characters in his tour and it was so much fun dancing (a pleasant surprise too!). I highly recommend this tour for everyone who wants to learn the true facts behind Voodoo's origin in New Orleans!
Kevin Howell
Took the music and arts tour with Andrew. First off, you can't beat the price. Don't be skeptical of the pay what you want model. This is a quality tour that fits any budget. This tour was excellent. Andrew was super friendly and got to know everyone in the group. Was impressed with his deep knowledge of the city's rich history. We started in Louis Armstrong Park (which is beautiful) and learned the orgins of jazz. Standing in Congo Square was powerful. The same place African slaves gathered to dance, sing and live some of there traditions. Andrew explained all of this. We walked through French Quarter and he not only shared the city's music and arts history, but fascinating stories and rare facts and tidbits about the arts scene. Plus he provides detailed recommendations for live music during your stay. I highly recommend this tour.
Amy Gatewood
We took three tours with this company. The St. Louis cemetery tour was very informative and the tour guide Elizabeth had a great personality. The ghost tour was funny with a few cheesy puns along the way. The voodoo tour with Robi was our absolute favorite! He did a great job of keeping the group engaged by participating in the dialogue. I was very impressed with his knowledge and the way he kept it real without all the TV hoopla stuff. I would recommend these tours to anyone checking out the city! Keep up the great work!
Caroline Szumski
My friend and I did a voodoo tour with Robi. It has been the highlight of our trip! Robi was extremely informative and hilarious. He explained everything really well and crammed a lot of information in a 2 hour tour. It’s obvious he’s very passionate about spreading information about his culture. Also of note he seemed to know everyone in New Orleans! And everyone he ran into on the street greeted him warmly. Anyone who comes to New Orleans should do his tour and learn about real voodoo!
Vaughn Winchell
We had two walking tours with this company on 1/4/2019--a lot of walking, but well worth it! Sean Chick was our guide in the morning for the Garden District. We had a really entertaining tour, filled with fun facts about the history of cemeteries, dining advice, and the celebrities who've bought houses in N.O. In the afternoon we toured the French Quarter with Kyle Potter. Kyle has a really deep knowledge of local history, and he's also a very engaging story-teller. Highly recommend the tours, and both guides.
Maggie Reid
We did the ghost tour in New Orleans and Alec, “Big Al,” our tour guide was the absolute best! He was not only hilarious but also made each story super interesting and fun. We did ours at night which made it even more spooky. We only had to pay $2.50 each for a group of 4 of us and tipped at the end because Al was the greatest and made the tour what it was! Highly recommend to do in NOLA! Thanks Al!!!!!!!!
T Kitch
Stacey's cocktail tour was incredible! Her knowledge of the city and the history of the quintessential New Orleans beverages is stellar. Would recommend this to anyone, from novice to whiskey aficionados. Truly an excellent experience!
Humphrey Family
I took the voodoo tour with Free Tours By foot three years ago and thought it was so amazing, that when we returned with kids this time we had to do it again. Our tour guide was Robi this time, and he exceeded my already high expectations! His first hand knowledge and passion for the history and culture makes the experience that much better. Even in the sweltering heat and humidity we lost track of time as we learned about this wonderful part of New Orleans history.
Nelson Fogarty
Took the ‘French Quarter Tour’ with Kayla and the ‘Arts and Culture Tour’ with Andrew. Both were in credibly knowledgeable about the history of New Orleans, not to mention great people who made for an excellent day. My tour with Andrew was just myself and another friend and it made for a great experience and he was happy to stick around after to give us some tips for local cuisine and events. He even played music examples throughout the tour for an authentic experience and emailed us a list of bands playing during our stay. Can’t recomend both these tours and guides enough! If you’re in New Orleans definitely make sure to sign up.
Priscilla Campbell
Our tour guide was Andrew F and he was superb. Great knowledge, entertaining, and considerate. He gave us great recommendations for eating out, music, shopping, and sightseeing options....for every budget and interest. It was a brutally hot and humid morning but the time seemed to fly by because he was very engaging and kept things moving. Cannot recommend him more highly! Thank you!
Taylor Almeida
I went on the Ghost Tour and the Voodoo Tour and let me tell you, they were both amazing!
I had Stacey for the Ghost Tour and she was brilliant! You can tell she is really in love with the city and is very passionate. If you ever have a chance to go on this tour with her you will not be disappointed!
I had Melissa for the Voodoo Tour and she was also fantastic! She is a Wiccan Priestess who also attends the Voodoo rituals and knows so much about them and their history! She even demonstrated a ritual for us!
Needless to say, after everything I learned from both Melissa and Stacey, I have a greater appreciation for New Orleans and the French Quarter and the things their city has endured. Thank you for the amazing experience!!

We did a Voodoo Tour with Robi and it was amazing!!!! Robi was an excellent guide who was able to give us first hand knowledge about everything voodoo, for he himself is a voodoo priest! We learned so much about the history of New Orleans and how voodoo and slavery are all tied in. We also got to do a mock ritual which was super fun! Free Tours by Foot is such a great way to explore Nola, and we highly recommend them to all!
Allison Silva
We had an absolutely great time on the French Quarter Tour with Kyle! The tour was informative and fun, and covered a lot of different places and history of NOLA. I would definitely recommend and definitely do another tour by Free Tours by foot. I've done free walking tours with Free Tours by Foot in a couple different cities now and I have never been disappointed!
Meg Tan
We only had three and half days visit and managed to do the French Quarter and the Garden District /Lafayette cemetery tours. We learned so much about the history and culture of the two very different areas. Our guide, Kayla for the French quarter and Kayle for the Garden district were amazing. Definitely highlight of our trip.
Erica Smith
He was so wonderful! Made everyone feel welcome. Everyone got to participate In a fun activity he had. Would love to go again. Learned about new facts I have never known or would have expected about New Orleans. Highly recommend!! He also is the most entertaining and hilarious tour guide and the best tour guide my family and I have been on.

My family and i did 4 tours. The 1st was the French Quarter tour. I never received a confirmation email prior with the information of the tour guide. We passed by the meeting area indicated on the initial email just to see if someone would be there but, no luck. I called the number went straight to voicemail and i sent a text and received no response.
2nd tour was the 10AM Voodoo Tour with Robi who is HANDS DOWN the best!!! He is very knowledgeable and gets everyone involved in his tour. I totally suggest to book, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!
3rd tour was the 8:15pm Ghost Tour. I felt the tour and information provided could’ve been better. We had did a ghost tour the year before last in NOLA and i felt we received more information then.
4th tour was the Garden District tour with Denver. The area and houses are all so nice. He is very informative on his tour.
Overall Tours By Foot is a good concept and the tour guides know their stuff. I would recommend them to anyone visiting the area.
Fran Cassidy
We did two tours 2 mornings in a row. The guide for the Garden District was Sarah and the guide for French Quarter was Andrew F. They were both very knowledgeable and clear in discussing their areas. We highly recommend you take their tours. If we had more free time, we’d take another tour with them but we need to have time for checking out the music and eating in all the establishments they recommended.
JARRAH WATKINSON
Wow, this tour definitely exceeded my expectations. Had a great time on the walking tour of the French quarter this morning. Andrew F was a wonderful tour guide and was very knowledgable of the area, its history and great places to eat at and listen to live music. It was a great way to be introduced to new Orleans. Thank you again, Andrew!
Marty LaFleur
We did the Free Tours by Foot French Quarter Food tour. We had a great time walking around the French Quarter learning where different cuisine inspirations came from in New Orleans. We got to try a lot of different foods and learned how some were made. Kayla Lemaire our tour guide was very good and informative. The tour lasted around 2.5 hours and its recommended to bring small bills for purchasing samples.
Chris Kowalczyk
We had Renee as our tour guide. We learned more in the first 5 minutes about New Orleans and we had been there twice before! We did the Lafayette and Garden District tour. It was fantastic. Renee was extremely knowledgeable. It was a good pace for us. She was entertaining and informative!
Kate Ellis
We took two tours while in New Orleans, the cemetery one and the ghost tour. Both tour guides were great and we learned a lot about the city. I appreciated the historical knowledge I gained. The only thing I would say is, especially on the ghost tour, it was a lot of standing in one spot between short walks.
Justin LaBenne
My wife and I wanted to take a tour of St. Louis Cemetery and we found out the only way to get in was through a licensed tour guide. I've been on a few tours before and was never a fan but this tour...this tour was amazing. Kyle was an absolutely fantastic guide and we could have followed him around New Orleans all day listening to him explain the history. Highly recommended if you're in New Orleans.
Parker Nann
We took two tours, both were excellent.
The voodoo tour was led by Robi and was excellent. Robi was engaging and genuine which was a great break from overly scripted tours! He is friendly, knowledgeable and funny!
Our ghost tour was led by Jonathan who spoke fast and painted a spooky history of the city. He was a little hard to hear due to the noisy French quarter on a Friday night, but the tour was still enjoyable.
Danielle Summers
My boyfriend and I did the haunted New Orleans tour with Al and absolutely loved it. Al knows so much of the authentic history of the city which greatly contributed to the quality of the tour. We both appreciated his no BS style as he made sure to recount detailed histories that were shared by credible sources. Al is super charasmatic and overall a great person to show you New Orleans. I would recommend this tour to anyone who asked me what to do when visiting New Orleans.
Lana Potels
Went to Music, Arts and More walking tour in New Orleans today with Andrew F - highly recommending! Andrew gave us good scope of music history with actually playing recorded jazz to us, we also went to couple of art galleries in French Quarter, we learned about poets and writers who worked in NOLA, and later emailed a list with suggested places to visit to listen to music, museums, and many more. We had a great time! Thank you, Andrew!

I went on 3 tours with this company and they were fantastic. The tour guides knew the history of New Orleans well, truly enjoyed sharing the stories and answered all questions well. Even the other tourists in the groups were fun to walk with. Highly recommend.

VOODOO TOUR
If you decide to book the Voodoo Tour I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you make sure that Robi is your guide.
This was a very educational tour, and the information was presented with great enthusiasm, humor, and energy - from beginning to end (2+ hours).
To repeat: the Voodoo tour was very, very enjoyable.
I cannot recommend this one enough - especially with Robi as the guide.
Brandi Gomez
Just completed the Ghost Tour (around the French Quarter and beyond) with Stacey, and VERY highly recommend her and this tour!!! We loved the factual stories shared, Stacey’s vast knowledge of the history of this incredible area, and her obvious passion for sharing the stories. Our tour was about 2.5 hours long, with an easy pace and several stops for story sharing. It was hot and humid, so water is a must!
A fantastic experience, a wonderful tour, and an outstanding tour guide! Thank you!
Nancy Strickert
We went on the St Louis Cemetery Tour #3!! It was so good and our tour guide, Daniel, was fantastic. I actually wished it was longer. Our kids 16 and 12 also found it interesting.
Stephen Hobbs
We did the free tours by foot Ghost Tour with Alec and it was amazing! I have been on many tours around the country and can honestly say he gave one of the most fun, genuine, informative, & hilarious tours I’ve been on. The stories are legendary and would love to do another one with him! Highly recommend. Also will talk with you after and answer questions give a few extra stories.
Paula Shirley
We took three tours during our stay in New Orleans and each one was amazing. Our guides were well versed in New Orleans history and lore. If you are looking for a different type of tour the Marigny tour is the one you want to take! Nat and Sean were outstanding leaders!
Brandi Otieno
We went on 2 tours in one day - a morning St. Louis Cemetery 1 with Kathy who was awesome giving a general overview of the history leading up to the creation of the cemeteries in the area. Also, she was knowledgeable and factual about different groups who settled in the area and as a local able to give insider insight and recommendations to nearby restaurants. Our afternoon tour was of the Garden District with Renee will was equally as knowledgeable, local, and have inside tips advice and detailed info (like how to walk across streets in a city where drivers don't yield for pedestrians and run red lights on a regular basis!). They were both considerate of finding shaded places to stand. Kathy brought a mister and ice cubes to keep us cool and Renee took and sent us all a copy of a group picture at the end. I definitely recommend them. Pay what you want as a tip at the end. The St. Louis Cemetery does charge $2 that the archdiocese sets as preservation fee to maintain the grounds and help prevent vandalism. Great experiences overall.
Shatabdi Sarker
We took five tours with this company, and each was amazing! We were in NOLA in July and it was extremely hot and humid. Even in that heat, the tour were very informative and enjoyable. We loved the Voodoo, Music & Art, Ghost, and cemetery tours. I would recommend them to any one visiting NOLA for some true insight to the city
Madeleine L
Did 3 wonderful tours! I had Stacey for the ghost tour, Kathy for St. Louis Cemetery #1 your & Robi for Voodoo tour. Guides have amazing knowledge and enthusiasm, the tours were very informative and fun! Highly recommended for tours in New Orleans!
Bear Productions
Amazing voodoo tour! Robi is the only voodoo priest giving walking tours in New Orleans. His 10am tour was the highlight of our New Orleans trip. We learned alot about the history of New Orleans in general and Voodoo in particular from him in a very engaging and entertaining way. If I could give more stars I would! I cannot recommend his tour enough.
Sy Balsen
Just wonderful! We did 4 New Orleans tours. Our guides were Andrew (Art and Music), Melissa ( French Quarter), Kathy (Sr. Louis Cemetery), and Sandy (Treme). All our guides were knowledgeable, enthusiastic, articulate, and fun. They gave us an historic, as well as real insider perspective. I can't recommend these tours highly enough!
Peter Verbrugge
We enjoyed the Garden District Tour on Easter Sunday with Andrew. He is fabulous guide- very knowledgable, witty but not all in to himself like some others. We did the Treme tour today with Renee and she is full of pertinent and insightful historical information on the town. Both guides were way entertaining, and better informed than the $55 Buzz NOLA bike tour guide that we had.

This was my husband and my first visit to New Orleans. We decided to take 2 of the tours offered through this company; one of the Garden District and another of the French Quarter. I don't see anyway to do two separate reviews, so I'll put them both here and take an average of the scores.
I will start with the Garden District tour with Denver. He was amazing and extremely knowledgeable about the area, he is also very involved within the community so it helps that he knows a lot more than the average tour guide. During his tour he told stories and even gave some information about homes that are owned by celebrities and what's going on with them. He was very engaging and kept the members of the tours attention by bringing the historic stories to life. He asked for questions and even emailed us information later about a question another person had. He followed up with all of the people who took the tour giving us tips on other areas to visit in New Orleans and offered us any advice we needed. Great tour, wonderful tour guide and HIGHLY recommended...5 STARS!!!
The second tour we took was of the French Quarter with Stacy, she was very nice and waited about 10 extra minutes for a couple who was running late. When she started her introduction she sat us on a bench and talked for about 30 minutes, we then started walking around getting some stories of the area. Towards the end of the tour we stopped at a bar to order drinks and hear another story, we were there for about 15-20 minutes. She ended the tour at the same bench we started, which happened to be occupied by a homeless man that kept distracting her and the group. There were several benches that were unoccupied, but for some reason she decided to choose this one again. She seemed to be knowledgeable about the area but she constantly let herself get interrupted and repeated herself several times. At one point I counted 5 times! Her stories didn't seem to come to life and I noticed myself and others attention drifting away from the group several times. I would NOT recommend Stacy as a tour guide and give her a rating of 3 STARS!!

I went on a cemetery tour. It was so hot, but I didn't even mind because our guide, Andrew, was engaging and informative. The tour was incredibly educational and entertaining. I saw other tours going on around us and was glad I was on this one instead. It was the first thing I did, on my first day in the city, during my first ever visit. I think it has helped make me a lifelong fan of NOLA and its rich history.
Maya Berlin
We scheduled 2 tours - one with Sarah and one with Andrew F. - both were really really well put together. Both very knowledgeable, but also very personable.
Andrew's tour is informative and very entertaining. He also follows up with email for Things To Do in the city - he is amazing! Definitely would recommend both!
Laurel Dias
We did the Voodoo tour and it was the highlight of my New Orleans experience!! Robi was our guide and he shattered all my misconceptions about Voodoo and replaced them with real knowledge. He was highly entertaining and the time flew by, I wanted more as soon as it ended. Very worthwhile! He knows what he's talking about!
joshua Barnes
We went on the French Quarter walking tour, with Andrew F. and it was fantastic. Well informed, well timed and well organized - Andrew F waited after the tour to answer all our questions and even emailed a detailed list of key points of interest for follow-up. It was so good, we'd do it again and recommend it to all visitors.
Sophie Woodhouse
We could not recommend these tours highly enough! Not only are they fabulously well run, but the tour guides themselves are passionate and wonderfully informative. We did 2 tours, the French Quarter tour with Andrew and the Voodoo Tour with Robi. Andrew was an absolute fountain of local knowledge, giving a really insightful tour whilst pointing us in the direction of numerous bars and restaurants which we’ve just loved. He even sent us an email detailing dozens of live music venues with their set times throughout the weekend we were staying. And what can we say about Robi- we’ve never laughed while learning so much. Skip any of the other voodoo tours and do not hesitate in booking his- as the only Voodoo priest (x2!) offering tours in the city, his knowledge and presence are second to none. Throw in that these guys are working purely out of love for their local city and culture- mind blowing. Do yourselves a favour, book yourselves in, tip generously and enjoy a wonderful time in real NOLA. Thanks to you both! :)

My girlfriend and I did two walking tours with Alec in the same day: The French Quarter tour in the morning and the Ghost Tour in the evening. He was not only friendly and fun, but extremely knowledgeable about the history and stories of the city. While other tour guides often regurgitate the same information without fact-checking, you can tell Alec has read numerous books and done the extra research in order to provide better insight about the topics he is explaining. He was passionate about the city and willing to talk after the tour in order to share local recommendations. Highly recommended.
Kimberly Schwerkolt
Did the voodoo tour with Robi. He is absolutely amazing. He had so much energy and was constantly engaging everyone on the tour. My mom and I drove down from New York to learn about the culture and I can say because of Robi that was accomplished. Hollywood makes voodoo out to be this horrible thing and it was nice to learn about what is actually is. After the tour he was nice enough to recommend places to eat and other places to go to get the full new orleans experience. I already told everyone I know they have to come down here and do his tour.
Thank you Robi!!
Anne Ringrose
Edited to add: DO THE VOODOO TOUR!! This was HANDS DOWN the best tour I've ever taken in my life. Robi was incredible.
My friends and I did two tours with this company on our recent trip to New Orleans. The first was the Garden District tour with Kyle. We had a great time. We learned a lot, we saw some great houses, both historical and celebrity. Kyle was friendly, knowledgeable, and very entertaining.
The second tour we did was with Elizabeth. That was a tour of St. Louis Cemetery #1. I thought it was fascinating. We learned why New Orleans buries their dead like they do. We saw several historically significant graves and learned a lot about them. Elizabeth was great. She definitely has a flair for the story telling aspect of being a tour guide. But, she was very knowledgeable while doing it as well. I thought I already knew a fair amount about Marie Laveau, but I learned even more about her from Elizabeth.
I would definitely do more tours with this company both here and in other cities.

We had the Voodoo tour with Robi. It was a fantastic experience, highly recommended. Robi was so engaging and warm, he told excellent stories and entertained us for the whole tour, while also dropping serious knowledge. I lived in Haiti for two years with an academic interest in vodou and still came away having learned (and laughed) a lot. Thank you Robi for sharing your history and your family heritage with us, it felt like a special tour ❤️

We did the 815 pm Ghost tour with Stacey on Wednesday and it was awesome. Definitely exceeded my expectations. Stacey was super knowledgeable, entertaining and professional.
Today we did the Voodoo tour with Melissa and it was equally enjoyable. We learned so much from her and would absolutely recommend this tour as well.
So glad we found your company.
Ariel Marsh
We did the French quarter walking tour with Andrew F and had the best experience. Andrew has tons of information about history, architecture, food, and music around NOLA. Plus he was just a great tour guide - loud voice, so friendly, and great at managing the group on busy streets. Couldn’t recommend this more.
Belle Ye
Garden district tour with Renee and ghost tour with Alec were with fantastic. Both tour guides had so much to offer and were very professional and passionate. Rene provided lots of background on the culture and history of the city, while Alec was simply the best at telling stories and showing you a good time. I enjoyed both tours so much and wish I could do more if I visited the city again.
Megan Sharp
Elizabeth was an engaging and fun tour guide. She handled our large group well and navigated the “annoying” parts of tours (other tour groups being loud, cars attempting to parallel park where she was standing) with humor and grace. It is clear that Elizabeth enjoys leading these tours and is passionate about New Orleans. Highly recommend!!

The four of us family members (2 young adults, two 'older' adults) did the Ghost Tour of New Orleans at night with Kyle. He was very organized, super funny, knowledgeable and was ready to answer any question we had. I would recommend this tour to anyone who can walk around at night on the sidewalks/streets of old NOLA, who's looking for a bit of quirky and creepy fun, with a guide who will give you a memorable tour.
Jennifer Turner
Kayla took us on the food tour today. Her stories were interesting and engaging. She connected well with everyone and taught us a lot about the difference between Cajun and Creole food. She gave us a history of New Orleans as well. We tried beignet at the take out stand, dirty rice, praelines and walked around the French Market first. We also went on a tour of Antoine’s( my favorite part). A lot of walking/ standing. Pretty hot. Even so ....Highly recommend this tour! 😀👍

We took 2 tours with Free Tours by Foot while in New Orleans, the Voodoo walking tour with Melissa and the Ghost Tour with Stacey. Both guides were amazing in their knowledge, very friendly, made the tour fun (while being educational) and were happy to answer any questions. Couldn't rate both Melissa and Stacey highly enough, if you're going to do a tour in New Orleans, definitely go for Free Tours by Foot.
