Naomi's communication, knowledge, and service was top notch. If we had started off like this my review would be 5+ stars!! I recommend Affordable Tours and am looking forward to our trip! First review (one star): I was assigned to Trisha F by an online price quote. Trisha told me she was "in training" all day until 4 or 5pm but we could discuss the quote afterward she finished. I wanted to discuss flight options and was willing to pay more for better travel times. I also wanted to clarify some travel details. Trisha gave me some of the information that I requested via email but not all. She said she was in training all week and would get back to me. By the time she did, the options that I had requested were no longer available. I am not sure if this was a bait and switch kind of thing? Or, if I missed out on these prices and options because she was not available? If that was the case she should have assigned me to someone else that could be more available. She now is not responding to me at all. I am very disappointed and I absolutely do not recommend this company.

So I have been fortunate enough to use affordable tours twice. My,first trip was a 15,day tour of Europe. It was called a taste of,Europe. It was truly just that. 7 different countries at a great pace. Sandra was our agent both times and she was flawless. Our tour guide in Europe was amazing and kept us on track and showed us so many great things. While on this trip we were able to meet great friends from Australia. I find the site simple and easy to use, although sometimes you have to call or send an e-mail to get an actual quote (and sometimes those quotes don't match up with what's on the site). However, this is pretty standard for the industry.

Worked with Affordable Tours on an amazing trip/to Washington DC & surrounding areas. From the moment I began t work with their rep, Marianne, till I returned home, I couldn't have been happier. The tour took in every historical sight imaginable in the DC area, on up to & including Philadelphia. The coach traveled in was comfortable & clean, the tour guide was friendly &, most importantly, very informative & the hotel stops were all nice, comfortable & clean. Many hotels were far nicer than expected--especially the "lodge" atmosphere in the Shenandoah Mountains, & the historical property in Gettysburg. Also, mist meals were included & were far above standard! I have checked on trips through Affordable Tours since this trip & have always bee treated most kindly & friendly by all staff--certainly including Marianne. Unfortunately the cruise was cancelled due to a volcanic eruption in Iceland grounding most flights to Europe. We were devastated. When we were booking our first trip, I checked with the Better Business Bureau in Texas to ensure that Affordable was a legitimate company. Just booked a cruise for my Mom and I through them. So far, so good. We had our sights set on a specific cruise, on specific dates, and they were the best price I found. I forgot to mention my Mom has mobility issues and will need some special assistance with boarding, maybe even a handicap accessible room. We'll see how they deal with this. My mother-in-law and I went for a 2 week, tour of Ireland a couple of years ago and I had one of the best experiences of my life. It's not what happens, it's how you respond when problems happen. We were half way through a Cosmos/Affordable Tours bus trip through Scandinavia. An hour outside of Bergen, Norway, our brand new bus developed a computer glitch. The driver tried numerous ways to reset the computer and make the bus drivable, but it wasn't working. Here is where Cosmos/Affordable Tours really shined. They are a big enough company, with enough depth of support that they had a new bus and driver out to our location within an hour. That is impressive. On top of that, although we didn't miss any sightseeing, and only arrived at out hotel about an hour later than scheduled, our tour guide treated us to a free pizza dinner for everyone as a form of apology. Twenty pizzas for forty people. Plenty of food on a night that would otherwise have been a "on or own" dinner. Their response to an unforeseen problem was top notch.

Our first trip, to Italy in 2010, almost turned into a disaster when a volcano eruption in Iceland caused cancellation of one of our flights, as we were actually at the airport waiting to depart! AT was able to quickly cancel and reschedule us for a few months later, without much if any additional cost to us. Most trips will come off without a hitch, but it's nice to know help is available if needed.They also have access to discounts not available to the average traveler. The group was surprisingly older even though the tour description stated strenuous activities. We stayed at a Best Western which had great food and service . My rating is 4.0 stars instead of 5.0 just because this most recent trip I have booked for June 2017 did not include free transfers and I have to pay almost $400 additional to the cost of the trip for 4 people.
