My wife and I were first time scuba divers and we had a great time. The instructors were very patient and chill, and emphasized safety and having a good time. We were in a group of 5 total and had 2 instructors, so we felt very safe. They teach you everything you need to know, from how to use the gear, how to recover your breather if you lose it, as well as hand signals to communicate how you're doing under water. Our experience was about an hour total, from gearing up to the safety brief to time underwater. The experience definitely changed my relationship with water, and am looking forward to more scuba experiences in the future!

Zola and Kyle were freaking awesome. Very patient and informative. If you don’t know how to swim, no problem. I suck at breathing and today made me a lot better. I had even backed out of going under but felt comfortable enough to do it when my turn came. Highly recommend doing the dive. They have storage you can put your personal items in as well.

Vanessa was a great instructor. This was a perfect dive opportunity. I’m already certified but haven’t dove in too long. This let me get used of being back in the water and I got to practice skills and gear before my next day 3 tank dive. Again Vanessa was concise and patent with new divers and I’ll be back with my kids for them to take this intro to diving.

My best friend and I had such a great time! Nick was such a sweet heart, very patient, awesome tour guide and kind a helicopter dad :) I had hurt my leg the day prior but I was fine just a bit of a swollen toe that bothered me a few times during the event. He kept his eye on me the entire time, but I was fine :) DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS TO EVERYONE! Great for first timers like myself! We will definitely be coming back!

Excellent experience! They really take your time and baby steps to get comfortable before going on the tour in the water. Unfortunately, I was not fully comfortable going 12-15 feet under water and decided to exit. However, they are very gracious and respectful. I still appreciated the opportunity to get the whole gear on and go into the water. Still be very encouraged to book with them and go on the tour. You won’t be disappointed and will have a lot of fun! :)

Zola was clear, calm and concise with his teaching. We had a small group of 3 people which I feel was great for all the questions we had. We had a few moments of panic since we were all new at scuba diving, but at the end of the dive we all wanted to continue. A fantastic first time experience and I would love to do this again with this instructor on a deeper dive 🤙🏽

This is great for beginners(no worries of sharks!) I definitely want to try scuba again! Bring a bathing suit, you will not be using a wetsuit! Also, you don’t really get to scuba alone, mostly with the person. They hold you as you go down & guide you around for about 5-10 minutes. I got to see a few fish and that was it. I definitely recommend the beach we were at for a nice afternoon of swimming!

For anyone wanting a taste of scuba diving, this is a safe, easy way to do it. Kyle, Zola, and Todd were awesome guides. They walk you through safety before beginning. The actual dive is a little under whelming. There isn't a lot of sea life, just a few tiny fish. Unfortunately the coral is bleached, so no colours. At the end, you get some videos of the experience to download at no extra cost.

My teenager wanted to try scuba diving and this place was perfect. The Lagoon is part of the ocean with a reef but the stone barrier means it's not open ocean. Nick was AMAZING, super knowledgeable and made my son feel super comfortable; he had a great time. Excellent scuba for first time divers.

Todd, Kyle, and Felipe were great instructors. Very polite and chill. They explain how to scuba in detail so you can have a safe and fun time. 0800 time you definitely get to see plenty of fish. Also if you having trouble using the gear or personal trouble going under, they are very patient and will do their best to help and get you down to see the view. 10/10 would definitely recommend.

I highly recommend this experience! Snorkeling in Magic Lagoon, seeing many fish and sea urchins was wonderful. Definitely a worthwhile experience. Our guide, Liz, was amazing. She was very careful to make sure we were all safe and having fun.

My daughter and I did the mermaid photo/video shoot adventure and had an awesome experience and beautiful photos to cherish. Liz, our tour guide, was so sweet and patient with me & my daughter since I am scared of the water and she was camera shy. She took her time to make sure we were both comfortable in the water and as a result we got beautiful individual & mommy and me mermaid photos. I Highly recommend Liz and this tour if you are a beginner and want to swim like a mermaid.

Amazing!!!! Both were very experienced… however I’m a terrible listener I inhaled a ton of water all my fault! Just listen the first time and don’t do what they tell you not to do!!!! It was awesome! What an amazing experience made our anniversary memorable! Thanks for everything Kyle & Addy:)

Absolutely incredible experience!! It was my family’s first time scuba diving. We dove with Liz and Kyle (and Phillipe helped) and cannot say enough positive things. They were so patient and thorough. We felt safe and comfortable the entire time. My kids are 11 and 13 and they couldn’t stop talking about the extra attention Liz paid to them and was sure to show them the cool things to look at. Great beginner’s activity today. Highly recommend for newbies! But beware that while the description says 2 hours of scuba diving, it’s really less than 30 mins of actual diving, which is closely supervised (you cannot dive around on your own; the instructors take two people down at a time and hold their tanks while you look around for about 5 minutes and take GoPro shots) the rest of the time is spent waiting on other folks in the group to get their turn posing and looking at a reef. Kyle and Todd were our scuba lifelines—they were fantastic, super informed and made sure everyone felt safe before and during the entire session in the Magic Island lagoon. I went alone but everyone got comfy with each other. We started in shallow water then swam out -supervised- and got to look at a nice little reef with a handful of fish. They have a GoPro that they will take footage of you with during your turn to go down and look at the reef. They hold onto you when it’s your turn to go down (can see from photo). Had a really great time and I plan to get certified! Just beware that it’s not the full two hours because I definitely felt a little jipped. Still, overall it was a good sampler experience.

Great experience! Nice and chill vibes for beginners scuba. The instructors Max, Liz & Addison made sure we were comfortable and safe. They took our party of 5 out to see beautiful schools of fish and coral reefs. At the end they let us swim freely if we felt confident and comfortable enough to. I really appreciate Liz's training techniques.

Sara was great. The weather wasn’t great, but she did great! We found 3 green turtles and tons of fish. She was very good with identifying the plants and animals. I highly recommend the trip and Sara.

First time scuba diving with Liz, Kyle, and Zola and it was awesome. Kyle did a great job of explaining what we were to do and gave very detailed instructions. We were further trained pre-dive by Liz for proper operation of the SCUBA gear. They were very careful that everyone was comfortable with the operation of the gear. We felt very safe, and it was a great first experience. They took the time to adjust my weights so I could enjoy my first dive. The fish around the reef were fantastic. Full marks for an outstanding first experience.

It was a great intro to scuba diving and I would recommend it to people that have never tried and are curious about the mechanics. It was a comfortable size group of eight with two instructors and we went on a short swim out to a small reef that had a good variety of marine life. Very hour and a half.

If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would! They were the best decision I made for this trip! Very patient (Jake and Nick)…they really make sure you master all basic skills before you go out. They are always there and very alert to your needs. The instructors were absolutely fantastic. Coolest thing I’ve ever done. -close to hotels in Waikiki (walking distance) -awesome/patient instructors (I was slower at figuring out certain skills so one instructor stayed behind with me and the other instructors took everyone else out…we then caught up to the group) -Safety is big with them and they really make sure you’re doing well every moment you’re under -They have a go pro and shoot pictures and videos of you and the group for free -They also send you text reminders the day before with very detailed directions to the location Do not hesitate to do this! They were awesome!

Zola was awesome! Did this scuba trip for my birthday and it was a blast. We dived at magic cove, and we had been out here snorkeling the day before, but Zola was able to point us in the right places. We saw tons of cool fish, and other water life. Highly recommend. And ask for Zola!

My 5 year old daughter and I did the mermaid snorkel experience with Felipe (sp?) and he was absolutely wonderful! He was great with my daughter and got some awesome photos of both of us in our mermaid tails! We decided to take the tails off for the snorkel part since it would be easier to swim and it was my daughter's first time snorkeling. Felipe took videos of us snorkeling and of the fish that we saw. He was very patient and explained everything to make us feel at ease. Overall, this was a great experience and we can't wait to come back and do it again!

My best friend and I went scuba diving for the first time today! We had the best experience AND the best instructors. Kyle (who looks like Ryan Gosling btw), Liz and Zola were absolutely amazing. They walked us through all of the safety tips, instructions and were there each step of the way to make sure we had a fun, yet safe time. Short dive but great intro to scuba! I will be going on deeper dives in the future for reference you dive around a coral reef 15ft approx. for a 15 min duration. My kids and I just had our first snorkeling experience at Magic Island Lagoon with Felipe our guide. What an amazing experience! Felipe as well as the team at Try Scuba Diving were super friendly, informative and made our experience simply the best. We were able to see some exotic marine life at the reefs in the lagoon. Felipe was very kind and accommodating as we are all beginner swimmers. He made sure we were safe at all times and gave us ample amount of breaks to truly enjoy the sights underwater. We got lost and so when we called, Kyle gave us directions of exactly how to get there and met us and showed us where to park our car. We got to the beach and they were ready with our deer and they made us feel very welcome. Zola is an awesome guide. This is a really good first experience for scuba diving, and they do a good job of getting you up to speed and comfortable in the gear before you swim. It is a beach launch, so you can walk right into the water. I saw some of the other reviews complaining about the length of the dive and how it doesn't feel much bigger than a pool, but if you want to make more serious dives you need to get certified.

We did a beginners snorkeling session and that’s exactly what it was — good for folks that are a little nervous or want to go slowly especially, but she did a great job tailoring for skill level (if folks wanted to try diving, take their jackets off—all optional!). If you’ve snorkeled a lot before, Magic Lagoon may not be the best spot in Honolulu, but it’s a good place to get your feet wet and see a few fish and coral, especially if it’s your first time.

I went here to snorkel with my mom and we had a wonderful experience. As beginner snorkelers, we were looking for a basic introduction to snorkeling and for an ocean view at the lagoon. She is super helpful and fun :) Just make sure you go to the end of the beach and not the lifeguard tower, they are waiting with all their gear to the left of the tower. This is the lagoon where you dive.
