My friends and I took a charter with Captain Morgan out of Wethersfield, CT and it was the best experience ever. My 3 friends and I got to spend 3+ hours on the boat which included tubing and swimming around once we got to a local island. Captain Morgan is very passionate about what he does and does a great job making sure that everyone is having a good time. You can bring on your own cooler of drinks and food to enjoy while out on the water. Extremely positive experience and something I would love to do again. Thank you for all of the laughs, we will be talking about this for a long time!

Captain Morgan really made delivering our boat to our slip from the dealership a breeze! I hired him based on other reviews to help myself, as a newer boater, navigate the river and learn how to operate my new boat in a safe and enjoyable manner. Captain Morgan spent the extra time as needed to show my wife and I the river and other things like practicing docking, tying lines to cleats, and how to setup our boat once we arrived at the slip. The three plus hours he spent with me were hours that are invaluable. I can't wait to hire him again to show me some other skills to gain confidence and experience on. His communication was wonderful and even had a couple extra lines in his gear to make sure our boat was properly secured at the slip.

My wife and I have taken a day trip down the river with Captain Morgan in the past and had a great time. Captain Morgan knows the river very well and is full of knowledge about all things boating. Naturally when we decided to rent a boat on our upcoming vacation (while we both have our boating certificates, we have no prior experience operating a boat) we turned to Captain Morgan for a private lesson on the river. Even though the lesson we paid for was a one-on-one Captain Morgan allowed us both to spend time operating his boat as he coached us on what to watch out for on the water, how to properly operate a boat, and the “rules of the water” when approaching other vessels, no wake zones, etc. Towards the end of the lesson we worked on docking. We were both very apprehensive about docking a boat as we had never tried before, but with Captain Morgan’s expert guidance we were both able to safely dock the boat and feel much more confident. As a result of Captain Morgan’s training we were able to relax and really enjoy the boat we rented on vacation without worrying about not knowing how to safely operate it - even docking it at the various stops throughout the day and when returning at the end of the day went smoothly. I can’t say enough good things about Captain Morgan; he was patient, helpful, and the training he provided was definitely worth every penny.

We just sailed with Captain Morgan for our 2nd time and were not disappointed! We took our 2 kids, 5 and 7, and they had an absolute blast! They asked him to do "donuts" and "jumps" and he certainly delivered. He stopped so we could go swimming on the hot 95° July day. We were all smiles and plan on booking with him again for sure!

Captain Morgan made my husband’s birthday experience so special and fun! We did the two hour fun ride and he took us on a tour of the CT River that was relaxing and fun, with perfect music. He slowed down while we enjoyed snacks, and did some impressive boating skills to make us laugh. He also helped us get an incredible shot of the birthday boy out in the water. We relaxed and felt so comfortable while we enjoyed a gorgeous afternoon out on the water! On top of all of that, the Cove was flooded and he went waist-deep in the water to make sure that WE didn’t have to get wet walking to and from the dock. I would recommend him to anyone, and we can’t wait to go out on the boat with him again!

I booked a two-hour training session with Captain Morgan and cannot speak highly enough of my experience. The entire process - from booking, to meeting up at the docks, to the actual on-the-water training - was well thought out and seamless. Captain Morgan was extremely responsive by text and on the phone. He walked me through every step of starting up the boat, driving it through the cove, bringing it down river at speed, using charts, etiquette around other boaters, and docking, among other things. Coming into the training session with no boat-driving experience, I feel so much more confident about be able to do it myself! I am so happy I booked the two hour session because I really got the opportunity to get dialed into how the boat handled and got reps at more technical skills like approaching moorings and docking. I would highly recommend Captain Morgan's Boat Training & Charters for anyone looking to get into boating or brushing up on skills.

My friend has been taking power boat instructions from Captain Morgan and invited us along for the ride. He was super nice and professional, very patient with my friend and explaining why she needed to keep the boat's bow up or down at specific situations,etc. He allowed her to dock and had her repeat it several times until they were both confident in her approach. I highly recommend a lesson plan with Captain Morgan!

Fantastic time! Captain Morgan is the best!!! Took a lesson and had family and friends on board. Captain Morgan is knowledgeable and fun. My nieces first boat ride and she loved it! We saw eagles, flying fish and Fred the beaver. Fun time for all!!! Highly recommend it and will definitely go again.

We enjoyed such a great afternoon on the river with Captain Morgan. Captain Morgan is very friendly and professional, the boat is so well kept. It’s evident that he takes great care and pride with his boat. We felt very safe on the boat. Captain Morgan went out of his way to point out sites along the river including a family of eagles. Captain Morgan was very responsive leading up to the trip and provided very clear instructions on where to meet up and other logistics. We highly recommend - it’s a great way to spend the afternoon with family and friends!

What a fun experience!!!! If your looking for something different to do on a nice sunny day go for a ride with Captain Morgan. It was a perfect day for the 9 &6 boys and 3 adults. Captain Morgan pointed out different birds for us as he went "super fast" for the boys up and down the CT river. As my son said, "this is the life!" I have a feeling we will be in the boat a few more times this summer. Kids maybe left behind for a girls excursion next time. I really think it's perfect for all occasions and would highly recommend it.

Awesome experience October 22nd with Captain Morgan for a 2 hour boating class. It exceeded any expectations that I had! He was a fantastic and thorough instructor and patient with all our questions. I reserved a two-hour on my boat training with Captain Morgan’s company. He put me in contact with Jim, to coordinate the details. After a few reschedules ( mechanical issues on my end) we were able to go out on the water this Saturday morning. Jim asked what I wanted to work on, and after a brief discussion, we started in on my list! We went over the basic operation, leaving the dock, accelerating, anchoring, and backing into the slip. Jim was professional, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I left the boat that day feeling relieved and with my skills polished up. I have been boating for most of my life and would highly recommend an in person training session for anyone who buys a new boat, moves marinas, or just needs a refresher!

I highly recommend training with Captain Morgan. He is an excellent teacher who adapts his teaching style to your learning style. He considers what you tell him as well as the skills you demonstrate and gives you confidence, challenges and clear instruction. He answers every question thoroughly and points out when and how you might use those answers during training. It has been a very valuable experience training with him. I am a much more helpful crew member, especially when docking, and I can take over at the helm with confidence now. Captain Morgan has a wealth of knowledge about boats – all kinds – that he shares. He works to help you fulfill your boating goals. He even put me in contact with someone to do some sail training. In addition, Morgan is a superb River Guide if you want to take a relaxing or exhilarating ride on the Connecticut River. Working and riding with him has been a pleasure.

Let me set the stage… We’re brand new boaters, who just purchased our first boat this year. Captain Morgan has been there every step of the way for us. From answering all of our questions prior to taking possession of our new boat, to making sure we had all of the necessary safety equipment, Captain Morgan made us feel much more comfortable with our purchase. After we got the boat in the water, he helped us out tremendously from navigating the waters, to operating the boat. He has been incredibly patient with us on the water and is very knowledgeable . I enjoyed learning with Captain Morgan. Being inexperienced with boating, I wanted to just get out on the water and learn. We explored the Connecticut River up and down, even saw some bald eagles! So we saw the ad on Facebook and it looked fun and reasonably priced. Booked it. Capt morgan made the booking easy and answered all my questions. We showed up with some drinks and snacks and our kids expecting a boat ride. Well it was AMAZING. The kids are asking to book again before we even got off. I’m a amputee and I thought I would have a hard time getting in and out of the boat but I really didn’t he was very helpful and understanding which I really appreciated. Amazing experience. We went all the way down to The Arrigoni Bridge in Middletown. The boat was much faster than I was expecting, and it was a blast. The captain was a great guy, and I would highly recommend for a fun time on a hot day.
