Shamus was AMAZING! He was so knowledgeable, he went at a great pace and had facts I don’t believe we would have learned everywhere. He made the tour so much fun, I didn’t want it to end. This is a must to see all the sites! Note we don’t go in the sites but you end at the independence hall so you can easily buy tickets to go in the hall. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to know the history of our great nation in Philadelphia!

We did a tour with Shamus and he was a fabulous guide! Very informative and kept us engaged the whole time. Would definitely recommend this tour for people who want to learn about American history and see interesting sites in Philadelphia. Note that we did not go into any of the buildings we stopped at during the tour.

Fantastic tour! Live in South Jersey (the one structural flaw of the Ben Franklin Bridge...hahahaha) but had the opportunity to take friends celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary on the Old City tour and I was not disappointed. Our guide, Seamus, was top notch. He knew his stuff, injected timely humor, and gave us time to explore. All the sites you want to see in Old City and we enjoyed beautiful weather and a manageable group size on Memorial Day weekend. Awesome experience!

Where to begin? Our experience with the Founding Footsteps team was beyond amazing!! Upon booking the historic comedy tour I had a million question but the team was very patient and answered all questions while providing suggestions to enhance our experience. The tour itself was very informative and our tour guide Tim kept us laughing the entire trip. We had family with us from out of state and they received the full Philly experience while some of us who were born and raised still had our minds blown by things we were unaware of! We would highly recommend this tour to everyone! What a fantastic day full of knowledge, love, and laughter!

I booked Founding Footsteps BYOB tour for a group of customers. It was extremely fun for everyone! The owner, Tim, was very helpful, accommodating, and professional. It turned out he was the guide and very funny as well! Rebecca from his staff was very helpful and answered all my questions. I highly recommend this tour!

Seriously one of the best tours I have ever had. Did I learn a lot? No. Did I have a blast? Hell yeah. The tour guide really felt the atmosphere and crowd he had on the bus and make sure everybody felt safe, had a laugh and didn't want to mis a thing. Thank you, this was the high light in Philly!

We did the holiday light tour. Maybe it's because it was the very last tour of the season, but we were a little disappointed. We weren't able to get out at many stops, and it seemed like there were places they skipped altogether. The energy in the Trolley was fun, the singers were wonderful. We just wished they'd let us out and spent more time in some places.

To date, I have purchased 11 tickets to the byob Philly your. That’s how good it is. I’ve been once with my significant other, once with my 3 kids, and once with my kids and my father. Additionally, I’ve also done one of the night tours in October. I think it was something like scary stories? In short, I’ve spent a ton of money on these tours because they are well worth the price. It’s informative and funny. There’s a nice balance to it and the atmosphere is fun. I also appreciate that the tour guide is the owner. It’s great to support a small business and he feels invested in a way that you do not get with the big corporate companies. While the tour is byob it’s still family friendly. You get to see all the Philly sights. There are spots you can get off and walk around, take pictures. My personal favorite is the Rocky portion of the tour. Things to know, the benches you sit on are hard wooden benches and there’s not a ton of room. It can at times be a little uncomfortable if you’re a bigger person. There’s a few stops where you can buy things but they only take cash or only take cards, so come prepared. There’s a lot of parking around the Betsy Ross house but the metered parking often has a 2 hour limit. So be careful. I have used it and never gotten a ticket but it would def suck to have that happen. There’s a small convenience store not too far from the Betsy Ross house you can make some last minute purchases from if needed. Lastly, I appreciate that he is a former teacher who has several programs for youth in the city. I’m a social worker at a high school in Newark NJ. I can tell you first hand those types of programs mean the world to kids! It is a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it.

Great holiday light tour. The trolley took us around a couple of Philly neighborhoods to see the holiday decorations. On board we had a guide, a guitar player and a singer, providing xmas songs for us to sing along to. Lots of fun!

My husband and I booked this tour for my mother in laws Christmas gift and it did not disappoint! We went today 1/21/23 and had a BLAST. Our tour guide Warren was simply AMAZING. He was super personable, sweet and HILARIOUS! The trolley driver Nate couldn’t have been better! 10/10 would recommend. Ask for Warren, we definitely will do this again! 💜

We did the Halloween “Bad Things Happen in Philadelphia” tour. Tim, driver Nate, musician and “bouncer” were all so lovely. I was laughing and entertained and had so much fun. Highly recommend for an easy night out. Trolly was clean, safe and convenient.

Sheamus was very knowledgeable and provided lots of insights as to why the locations we visited were important to the founding of not only Pennsylvania but America too. And how taxes like the fire and insurance tax paved the way for the insurance we have today. Or how Franklin’s belief that everyone should be able to read laid the foundation for the public library system we have today. He was even able to recommend local spots to get a good Philly Cheesesteak. The information was delivered in a way that it was understandable and not overwhelming. Highly recommend this tour if you want to learn about the history of Pennsylvania.

Tom and Sara are absolutely wonderful performers - they're music was exceptional and they made the experience so fun with their song selection, holiday jokes, and engagement. Thank you to the organizers who accommodated our tour time to make sure we saw the performers we came to for - they went above and beyond to switch our tour time with other guests. Warren was so fun and kind - kept us engaged and made sure we knew exactly where to be and when. Thanks to Nate the great for driving us safely around the city. We will plan to make this a new holiday tradition every year! Highly recommend this experience.

My family and I were in Philly for one night and my wife had heard about Founding Fathers Jolly Trolly Holiday Light Tour. We took our three girls (ages 1 to 7 years old) who loved the festive music and with each stop the lighting displays were better and better. We came back home three days ago and they have not stopped asking when we can go back on the trolly, which they loved. We happened to be on a tour that included the owner of the company, Tim and his wife and son, who couldn’t be nicer and more passionate people about the city of Philadelphia. The tour itself was enjoyable (I partook in the BYOB portion) and well organized. We will definitely participate in another trolly experience the next time we come back to Philly! Totally worth it. My only gripe is that as a true New Yorker, my daughter embracing the Philly Fanatic was painful.

32 crazy women on a private trolley tour with founding footsteps!!! It was fabulous. Everyone had a great time. The singing, guitar playing, our tour guide (Bennett) the driver were all wonderful.( do not remember everyone’s name) We would recommend this for a fun night in philly to see all the beautiful christmas displays besides singing to your favorite christmas carols. So get your group together and do it!!

The holiday lights tour with Nate, Kozer, Ryan & Justin rocked! Engaging, fun, family-friendly (at 430pm). Great live music that you can sing along to. Would highly recommend for locals and visitors alike. They even helped my mom numerous times with her walker.

This was a nice way to kick off the holiday season. Definitely recommend for small groups and friends. The trolley picks you up at the Bourse at 5th and Market, and takes you to holiday light displays around the city. While on the bus they provide a live musician to play holiday classics and requests our musician was John Gilbride who was great. It’s BYOB which just makes it even more fun. So if you have a group of open minded friends who are in the Christmas spirit, bring your spirits and your beer, hop on board and sing and cheer, see some lights and some sights, enjoy a slice, you can’t help but to be jolly when you’re aboard the Christmas trolley!

This tour was amazing! It was everything it claimed to be: “historically hilarious.” Tim has the right balance of respect and wit when doling out info on Philly’s role in the founding of America. Our family thoroughly enjoyed this tour. It’s a great way to get an overview of the major sites, and the stop at the Rocky statue is a highlight. This tour is a must! Even in a blistering heat wave, this was so worth it. You won’t be disappointed. Just book it.

We had such an incredible time! Koser and Justin were phenomenal and played so many great Christmas songs. We had so much fun singing along, and they kept everyone laughing. What a great time we had once again! It is my 4th year on a Founding footsteps Holiday Light Tour and it did not disappoint. We lucked out with great weather, cold but dry, the lights were beautiful, and the stops were great. Jeremy was not only a fabulous guitar player and singer, but he was also so knowledgeable about Philadelphia! It was lovely for Hannah to be singing along side him with her beautiful vocals and cute dance moves. Our group was very lively and so much fun! Our experience was fantastic! Our group had a great experience! Tim provided a very interesting tour full of lesser-known historical tidbits, but his comedy was the real star of the show. He has funny stories, off-the-cuff roasts of pedestrians, and generally knows how to create a good time. The BYOB doesn’t hurt, make sure you bring a lunch box with ice to keep your drinks cold! 10/10 tour, thanks Tim!

First time on the holly-jolly trolley. It was super-fun and entertaining from start to finish. Great concept that is well executed, from the private-party area at the brewery to the festive locations (with bathroom access) to the holiday entertainment on board. Make sure to bring your best singing voice and an adult beverage. A rollicking good time was had!

Went on this tour for the first time, haven’t done anything like it before. It was an awesome ride with great personalities and entertainment from our hosts, Sarah and Tim. This 2 he trolley ride was so much fun. Nate the driver does an excellent job navigating the trolley throughout the city streets. Warren is the narrator and he was amazing. This was the trolley tour we never knew we needed! I visited Philly this past weekend so she could run the marathon. She didn't want to do too much walking on Saturday so we booked this tour after reading the reviews. We had so much fun with Warren and the other groups on our tour. It's a great mix of music, laughter, sightseeing and the history of the city (in that order!). If you don't have much time, it's a great way to see the sights (stopped at the Love sign and the "Rocky" steps at the museum). There is also a bathroom stop. My friend and I didn't drink but we still had a blast. Groups who were drinking brought coolers on board. I would say that if you really want a tour heavy on history, this might not be the tour for you. We learned enough but please don't quiz me :)

Tim was a fantastic tour guide and gave info and facts about landmarks, parks and squares that I have walked past dozens of times, in a hillarious and easy going manner. Warrens thique dance by Beyoncé was probably my favorite part of the entire tour. I would totally pay just to watch Warren perform dances on the trolley for 2 hours

We had booked the Philly Phables walking tour for this morning, but Hurricane Ian had other ideas lol. Our resourceful guide Tim somehow got a hold of a trolley, changed our time from 10am to noon, and off we went. It was such a relief to be out of the rain. Also, Tim’s immense knowledge, gift for public speaking, and wonderful sense of humor kept us all rapt in attention. We learned so much! So, although it wasn’t the tour we expected, thanks to Tim’s adaptability and skill, we thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it!!

This is the only holiday tour to do in Philly . We’ve done this tour several years and it’s just awesome. It’s low key enough to bring your own beverages and sing along with the on trolley live music, but organized enough that you go to the best places and have access to bathrooms and easy stops. We even brought our baby this year and they were amazing.

We had Nathan for our guide. You meet on the benches in front of the center, and then walk with pauses to hear information. You can wear whatever shoes you want, you don't need sneakers as the walking is minimal. Bring a tip for your guide! They do a great job.

We ran the Art Museum steps to see the giant Christmas tree, walked around Smedly street and drove down 13th street. Overall this is a tour I would recommend but it was a bit uneven. There was substantial confusion at the beginning of the tour because apparently there were more people booked than they had capacity for so we had to switch out for a larger trolley. Once that got sorted and we got started, Tim was very good. Knowledgeable, engaging and funny, he was the best part of the tour. It went well for about an hour where Tim was narrating and showing the sites and then there were two ~20 minute stops that kind of killed the energy and momentum. Still, it was fun and is recommended, especially at their price point.

Ryan for Mayor of Philadelphia! We decided at the last minute to book this tour thru Viator and the communication and instruction was exact and very clear. We were on the tour with another family and even a couple who came a day early by mistake. There was 8 of in total and we were safely able to cover all the relevant locations while hearing entertaining and informative information about the Founding Fathers. Ryan did a great job to find us a place to sit, shade where we could and even space from other tourists. We really loved Ryan's passion for the history, the city and the people. My sister and I took a weekend trip to Philly and fortunately came across Founding Footsteps, unsure of what to expect in our historic walking tour. Suffice to say our guide, "Casey," made the history of our nation literally come to life, and introduced us to many people, places and things that we had only read about and in some cases, had very little (or incorrect) knowledge of. Our 90 min tour flew by too quickly, and was overflowing with historic factual information, as well as fun anecdotes that had the group laughing and curious to want to learn more. Casey's effusive enthusiasm for history was clearly evident as he moved the (limited in size) group throughout the streets of the Old City/ Center City, and off the beaten path. From Ben Franklin and Betsy Ross, to exploring the incredible Elfreth's Alley and lots of points in between, Casey was able to paint a picture with words, and share his enthusiasm for this powerful period in American history that will forever remain with me. Our trip was extremely enhanced by our Founding Footsteps tour, with great thanks to our exceptional Tour Guide. His excitement for the subject and encouragement for us to engage in the dialogue, took our tour to a whole other level, both education and highly entertaining.

Warren (aka Juan) is a hoot! How to describe this tour?? Okay. Picture a dream where Richard Pryor goes back in time and picks up a young Will Smith in Bel Air. They go to put his bag in the trunk and they find Joe Pesci and Danny Devito drinking Fireball in there. They decide they need a bigger rig so they hot wire the neighbors ‘65 drop top Caddy and hit the road…with Funkytown blaring out of the now blown speakers they turn off the sidewalk and back down onto the road. The wrong way. They quickly realize they are in no shape to drive so, when they see James Brown hitch hiking in lipstick-red short shorts, they stop. After a brief vote they elect James the King of Soul AND King of the Road…which makes them burst into song again but this time it’s Roger Miller’s version (kids under 50 can Google it). So, it’s essentially the 7th grade dream birthday party you never had. Only better. ‘Cause this time there’s beer. Yeah. Kinda like that.

If you're sitting in the middle and back area, you can't really hear what is being said. But overall great tour and highly recommend!!

We did the beer and band tour. We absolutely loved it — so much so that we ended up hanging out and getting food at the new Victory Brewing Co location on the Parkway! It was definitely a cool and unique way to see the city. The band was great — engaging, friendly, and really talented. I wish they had provided a clearer itinerary in advance of the ride so we knew how much beer to bring for the trolley vs. how much time we would be at actual breweries, but other than that, we had a great time and will definitely be back. Myself and eight friends did the holiday tour as a girls night out. It was amazing. Warren was our tour guide and made the night so much fun. The trolley was running behind by about 45 minutes because of a parade and the owner came aboard the trolley in the beginning and apologized and will be refunding us all 20%. We booked the Bad Things Happen in Philly tour in mid March 2022. If you're contemplating booking a bus tour around Philadelphia, your Google search has ended, because THIS is the one you need to book. My husband and I were with three other couples and had an absolute blast. The tour guide is hysterical, the trolley/bus is great and the grisly stories did not disappoint. Bring your own beer or wine (no liquor), sit back and enjoy the ride. We're already looking into booking another one in the fall!

My friend and I went on the Historically Hilarious BYOB tour and had a blast! This is the only trolley tour in Philly that has permission to have booze, apparently! So bring a cooler and a 12 pack! The tour guide/owner was really passionate and made the tour over the top awesome! He was funny, and engaging! My only complaint is that they don’t have air conditioning and it was SO hot! My husband and I took the Philly Phables tour in June 2021, we were in town for my cousin's wedding. The tour was amazing and so fun! My husband is deaf in one ear and that wasn't a problem at all, he said he could hear the entire time because our tour guide was so good at speaking up. We've done walking tours in the past (we are both big fans) and he couldn't hear at all, so he really enjoyed this experience. I was 6 months pregnant and felt like the walking was enough to get good exercise but not too much that I was overwhelmed/tired. So if I can do it, you can do it! Plenty of stops and time to sit down if needed. We really appreciated all the stops and couldn't think of any that we missed along the route that we would add in the future. Our guide was super nice and knew a ton of information, I really enjoyed that he was a history teacher then started doing the tours. The tour was super affordable and 100% worth it. We parked in a parking garage close by and that was super cheap too. Also, they do take tip via venmo so you literally have no reason not to tip them because they are amazing!

My friend just moved to Philly so we have been finding different things to do. After scrolling on Instagram the stand up and drink tour with founding footsteps came up. If you aren’t sure, book it- it’s hilarious. There is a parking garage across from the pick up spot. Get on the trolley, comedians stand up and make you laugh the entire way to Victory (bar), then back on the trolley to the same spot you left from. The comedians are great and it’s byob. Will be going again!

I would suggest doing this early in your visit to focus in on what your interest are in order to explore them in depth . Three of us took this tour on September 4th and it was one of the best tours we've had. So much fun. Tim is awesome, extremely knowledgeable, and hilarious. We were there during Philly's "Made In America" event so they couldn't do their normal route. To make up for that Tim took the group to the 1st Post Office and Ben Franklin museum. We got out of the trolley for about a 20 minute walkingtour of the area which ended at Carpenter's Hall. What a great way to make sure your customers still get a full experience. Plus we also came away learning about a new band from his playlists. Tim also does a lot of philanthropy work for underprivileged kids which has inspired many of them to do the same. We are planning a trip to Phlly in December and hope to do the Holiday tour.

My friend and I brought our 10 and 12 year old kids to Philadelphia's Historic District as they were not going to be able to experience this with their schools this year because of Covid. Tim (the owner) showed up and really personalized the tour for us. He kept the kids engaged and gave all of us a great overview of Philadelphia in the 1770's. I think small walking tours are the best way to get a good overview of an area and to get more than just a hop-on/hop-off tour guide's cheesy jokes. The Philly Phables Founding Footsteps tour was absolutely everything we wanted it to be. Tim and Ryan were both very knowledgeable and engaging. We enjoyed the Christmas lights trolley tour on December 30 and it was crazy fun! Austin told us about the neighborhoods we were going to visit and then sat down and played his guitar while a singer sang traditional sing along Christmas favorites. The trolley was all lit up and decorated for the holidays and made the trolley into a cozy room just for our group. There were jokes and laughter and by the end we all felt like a big happy family. The children loved the music and their own fashion show and were totally delighted with the night. We look forward to going on other tours with this charismatic group of people who were having just as good a time as we all were. A perfect way to spend an evening.

It was fun, we sang, we saw beautiful lights, even in the rain the driver and all on board were full of smiles and joy. We made all the stops, had wonderful pizza, and saw some beautiful sights! It was an overall wonderful night and we can't wait to do it again this Christmas! I think we made our own little tradition and I thank them for that beautiful experience :-*

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Walking Tour on November 9. We had a very long walk from the B&B where we stayed and were not sure we were up to the additional time walking. But the tour host Tim immediately lifted us from our funk with his great upbeat personality, common touch, historical knowledge of sites, and quick wit and good humor. This was much better than looking at sites from afar from a tour bus.We will be returning to check out founding footsteps other tour options.

We did the 7:30 Holiday Light tour on Black Friday of 2020. Because of Covid some things needed to be adjusted to comply with the city’s gathering rules, but the company did a fantastic job of communicating the changes and maintaining the fun and festive atmosphere! As advertised, with live holiday music and BYOB drinks in hand that we purchased at Yards Brewery, we road around the entire city to view all the Christmas lights. We stopped in Franklin Square and the Christmas Village at City Hall. It was a great way to kick off the holidays and I will be returning with another group of friends on 12/22/20! Definitely would recommend you check this out!

Their holiday tour was extremely festive, with wonderful live music, they have clearly put a lot of effort into coordinating and choosing their staff for these events. It was quite busy and they made the most of bad situations out of their control due to weather etc. The staff and owner are clearly passionate about what they do. We may consider some of there other non seasonal tours.
