Reviews of The Peregrine Fund's World Center For Birds of Prey
If you live in the Boise area become a member, if you're just visiting this place it is amazing and does amazing work so make it a must do while in Boise. The raptors here are incredible and love to put on a show, they are all full of character. The people that work/volunteer are also wonderful and welcoming and full of knowledge. I went on a Sunday during a visit to Boise and because I enjoyed it so much I came back on Monday even though I knew it was closed just so I could peek over the fence from the parking lot and see the California Condor again. There are also new enclosures being built. Parking is easy and free and the location is easy to find and in a great spot to look down on the City.
Very nice grounds, even a picnic.
We made it a family outing that ended up being very informative.
We enjoyed the sanctuary walk, we did not take the trail walk but it looked awesome. Great views of the Valley. From the looks of things much is being added in the very near future. Definitely worth a return visit. Restrooms are very clean
They're building a new compound to really show off their collection of raptors, but the long history of conservation of the hunting birds of the wild is why we loved supporting this organization. It's amazing seeing the condors in an enclosure that is bigger than what they had but it's still far too small for them to really fly. The new buildings and enclosures should be amazing, but they look to be at least as year or from being complete at this point (August 2022). The educational shows every few hours are good. The library on falconry is the real treasure.
Had a great time for my birthday here. The free flight raptor show was the highlight of course but the entire campus is really great. It is well worth the visit and in so doing you help with raptor conservation. The education center is loaded with the history of falconry with many displays and artwork to see. I'll join the Peregrine fund as my small part in helping out the fastest animal on our planet...
Truly loved this place! The staff is amazing and pricing is great for every budget and most importantly the entry feed goes to feeding the birds there and to help save endangered species like the California Condor through the sites breeding facilities! Amazing and informative place to visit with awesome displays of the birds housed here, such as the one I attended where the falcon flew around the room you're inside while the staff member explained the bird and the things the fund is doing to save the falcon and other birds of prey from extinction! I highly recommend this place for everyone to visit! If you can visit I highly encourage you to go to their website and donate money to help these birds survive and thrive well into the future!
Wonderful organization dedicated to helping endangered raptors. Loved seeing hawks, falcons, eagle, owls and condors. Saw condors on live TV that hatched in May. My favorite part was sewing live presentation with owl. The experience of being in room listening to presentation and watching beautiful owl soar back and forth across room was awesome! Fortunately I've lived here entire life and one of my favorite places to visit is WCBOP. They are currently expanding and can't wait to see!!! Enjoyed walking on path and seeing different plants and explanations. Visit and support this amazing conservation center!!!
Super interesting! Love that you got to see different birds. A little small right now but they are remodeling and adding an outdoor theater and an interactive zone coming in July 2022. Excited for that and we'll be coming back.
We were able to see the wild birds closely and were educated about these birds.
Currently, they are working on building an outdoor classroom, an exhibit, and an education center.
Outdoor bird fly events start and ends between September-November, every year.
Definitely worth the drive up the hill. Admissions are not expensive and there is plenty to see for an hour or two. We got to see 3 meet and greets where on was a free flying where you got to learn more about conservation efforts. The Harpi Eagle was my favorite. Great place to come with family or even as a date.
This raptor rehabilitation and care center is undergoing a makeover, so we visited the old site: you can purchase a ticket to be in a room with a selected raptor, which for us was a red-tailed hawk that flew around the room while the expert talked. Outside was someone holding a Swinson's Hawk, and you can get up close (sans touching, of course). They also had a huge Harpy Eagle. Outside there are some trails leading to views and more information. No dogs allowed (no surprise) so we left ours in the car, windows cracked. Just be careful: it was a relatively cool day but there is zero shade in the parking lot, so we checked on them often.
Omg you have got to go see. These birds are amazing. The stories behind thier lives an how they are saved is wonderful. So far off the beaten path, it's obvious allot of people don't visit, but it's an awesome place to take your kids. You get to meet Bob, an Griffin, an who wouldn't want to meet a Harpie eagle? Wickedly beautiful rare eagle. An yes the birds your see on the high telephone poles in Idaho or on the highway- are the red tail hawk, an falcons. Let alone get to see a real living an breathing personable bald eagle. Just feet from you. Expansive construction work being done to help the fund help more birds. This place is awesome a must see. Donate of you can!!! Truly they are all about the birds ( raptors)!!!!. It all helps these endangered bird species that many of us don't even know they are endangered. All volunteers!!!& awesome high school volunteers made this a wonderful experience... Thanks guys. My daughter now knows what she wants to do- be an ornithologist an study veterinary science with raptors.
I so enjoyed visiting this educational sanctuary for these amazing birds. My last visit was 15 years ago. It has grown so much, with more new exhibits and enclosures being built. I will be back!
Incredible place that is an ABSOLUTE MUST stop if you are in the Boise area. The staff is very friendly, and willing to answer any questions you might have. I was fortunate enough to stop in while they were doing a live flight show which did not cost extra to attend. One of the big things they hit on across the whole facility and shows are the harmful effects of toxic (specifically lead) ammunition. I have been hunting my whole life, and never heard of these harmful affects lead ammo has on birds before. They did a great job explaining it, and have convinced me to use non-toxic lead free ammunition whenever I’m hunting large game, or along waterways from now on, even though the ammo costs more.
All around fantastic, fun, and educational experience that I’d recommend to everyone. 💯 🦅
Had a wonderful time. Wish the wood wings to take the pictures of how you measure up to each Birds wings was still available not the little vinyl sign it just isn't the same especially when it's behind a fence pole ☹️😢. …
I loved this Center so much that I purchased a Family Annual Pass! Being up close to a Bald Eagle was amazing in itself, but watching them fly?!? Mind blowing!
We were able to see 2 presentations as well, done by the volunteers & staff. Very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. Enjoyed the indoor museum as well. So much information and birds of prey to see… both alive and taxidermies. Great gift shop as well! Unique, fun family adventure!
This place is AMAZING! I learned so much, the staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. I loved the bird flight demonstration- the milky owl and hawk were so neat to see! Will def be back once they expand!
A fantastic place to learn about birds of prey and support conservation. Staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend going if you have any interest in raptors.
Great place for the entire family. I’d highly recommend getting a ticket for a Fall Flight show. Helpful staff and amazing birds!
What an amazing experience! The staff are so knowledgeable and friendly! The nest thing I have done in years! I have never been so close to a blad eagle
We enjoyed it! We love birds of Prey! My 10yr old said the favorite part of the trip was coming to this place.
Make sure to time your visit to see a show, but we had a super time, and the folks do important and nice work here. Several birds on display, and the staff was very friendly and helpful—also informative.
The Bird of Prey Center is much like a zoo but focuses on raptors, obviously. While there are not as many animals to see, there are many more hands-on activities and learning opportunities here for kids then at Zoo Boise. I mean, who doesn't love a falcon flying directly over your head in a live show.
Very educational and my girls enjoyed exploring the exhibits. We're excited to see the new exhibits when they're completed.
Went on a cold and potentially rainy day but loved the last Fall flights demonstration!
Hadn't been here in a long time. It was just as wonderful. They are working on some improvements and it will be that much better. Great nonprofit for the conservation and public education on raptors around the world.
I have been here twice, in 2017 and 2021, and loved it both times. Staff are great, exhibits informative and the presentations delightful! Highly recommend supporting them and visiting. Not to miss if you are in Boise.
Great exhibits. Never seen a Harpy Eagle before. If you have a chance, attend their Fall Flights. The birds fly up close.
Amazing place to take the kids, or go to with friends. Was incredible getting to see all the birds. Beautiful hiking trail just outside of the entrance to the bird sanctuary.
I was there for the limited Fall Flights program, where the raptors fly above the audience in the outdoor amphitheater while the curators educate you on the birds species, habitat and how to protect them. The exhibit center is well done and other birds on display like CA condors and bald eagle are beautiful and fascinating. Great for all ages!
This was such a fun place to see and learn about different birds of prey. Their Fall Flights show was awesome! They have different birds of prey fly right over your head and they pair the bird's flight with prefect music to make it more exciting.
Great facility...the Condors were amazing and so was the Harpy Eagle
Great place. I got to see lots of birds. I saw the Kestrels, Bob and Penny.
Always a favorite place to visit while in Boise. This project does amazing work in the conservation of raptors. The site itself is undergoing a major update with full bore construction as of November 2022. It promises to be very worthy of your time in the future.
Great experience, we took the family on a Saturday. We were there for about 2 hours and saw 3 raptor demos. Friendly and informative staff, moderate prices going to a great cause all add up to time well spent.
If you love wildlife, or are a bird nerd, this place is a must visit.
Schedule your ticket ahead of time, as they are doing a *wonderful* job of keeping safe during covid. There were probably only 10 guests during our 90 minute visit block. The staff could not have been nicer or more informational.
I think this is the only place I’ve ever been that I’ve seen condors on display or a harpy eagle!
A great place to spend time learning about our amazing bird culture. We have so many beautiful birds and other wildlife that it's important to know and understand how we can save our wild habitats.
A gem for Idaho and the world. Highly educational and refreshing. A must see if you want to support a worthy cause.
Please visit the center and you’ll be in awe of what has and is being developed for a grand future. Thanks to all the volunteers too.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable & friendly.
Very educational, friendly staff and docents. Love to see the care they provide the birds. Always try to visit here when we're in town.
Great destination for any bird enthusiast! Great exhibits and things to see, as well as some great live presentations. Only bummer is you really have to commit an entire day to see it all (falconery tour 11a and live flight at 3p)
Absolutely a wonderful place! I will volunteer here one day. The Peregrine Foundation did an excellent job with their Fall Fly-In, and all the birds handlers were wonderful with their charges. I had such a wonderful afternoon and I cannot wait to go back again.
Best part: close up look at live raptors during the four daily presentations. Lots of fascinating info about the birds. A fair number of other live raptors in aviaries. Plenty of interpretive displays for all ages, including hands-on stuff for kids.
Our family's favorite bird living at the Center: the Harpy Eagle. (Although Schmidt, the peregrine falcon, was beautiful and the one we got to see up close.) Definitely recommend getting to the presentation theater 10-15 minutes early to get the front row seats!
They said during October weekends they do raptor flight demonstrations outdoors. Sounds really exciting!
Their Condor breeding program is cool, and if you're a nature lover, this is an excellent place to donate to a group doing real good for these endangered bird species (and not just the Condors, but raptors around the world).
Nice gift shop with lots of different items for all ages, including t shirts, jewelry, mugs, greeting cards, stuffed animals, bags, pins, hats, and toys.
Such a fun place. Very peaceful. Lots of great birds. What they have done for raptors is important.
Joe is a great educator. He brought out an owl and introduced the characteristics of birds of prey — beaks, talons, and eyes. Albeit a small place, there is a lot to see and learn here, and all the staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
Fun outing for adults and children alike. The live demonstration was enjoyable. The speaker was engaging and knowledgeable about the chosen raptor. The exhibits are educational and interesting. The staff is always helpful and willing to answer any questions and engage patrons.
I didn't see any type of food. I would appreciate a coffee shop type of thing for some snacks for myself and my kids.
I loved visiting here with my children. So many well informed workers and volunteers. Willing to take the time to answer all of our questions. The live viewing of the owl was so fun and informative. The kids loved everything about it. A great way to see some of the beautiful wild raptors up close and personal all the raptors here can’t survive In The wild so what they are doing for them is beautiful. I loved hearing about the breeding program as well I would recommend this to anyone that visits Idaho or Idaho natives it’s such an amazing experience
Absolutely flippin amazing! The scenery was outstanding. The birds enclosures were wonderful. The staff were so knowledgeable and courteous! They seemed to enjoy educating everyone on the birds and what society can do to preserve their existence. Please go see them. Support the cause. Help the birds of prey.
So informative! Live demonstrations of what raptors are capable of. Knowledgeable staff who love answering your questions. Great museum to see the history of falcons. Wonderful rescue, rehabilitation, and breeding program. I have a whole new appreciation for the work vultures do- seriously save the vultures.
Loved this bird sanctuary. You can see birds of prey up close in their enclosures. Also, birds were brought out by keeper to provided education on the hawks from local area. Also, explained how hawks were so important to the nomad culture for hunting food.
Very friendly staff, definetly worth a visit to spend an hour or so here and see all of the amazing birds.
Amazing experience! Loved the visitor center with all the story telling and research areas. Incredible views on the way up, and very cool close-ups with some birds of prey. You can tell the staff are very passionate about their work, it makes for a great experience.
We stopped here while on a visit to Boise. Small place but they are making a large impact on bringing back a few species of birds that were on the brink of extinction. They also care for some birds that can no longer survive on their own in the wild. The staff definitely enjoys what they do.
My in laws were visiting from out of town and love birds so we thought we would take them to the Birds of Prey and it was great! The birds there are just so beautiful. Make sure to go there when there is a show. They bring out different birds and it’s a very amazing educational experience.
It is a small educational center. The staff is extremely knowledgable and passionate about conservation. The price for visiting is fair and it goes into conservation. If you live local, I suggest a membership, it's worth it.
This is truly a hidden gem I had no idea to expect coming to Boise. Not only was Steve highly accommodating to all the guests which were quite a large crowd, but he had much character and history to afford each of us. Definitely interested in coming back for the flight shows in October. Some of the most amazing history of falconry you will find no where else in the world.
Wonderful opportunity for grandparents to help grandchildren learn about nature and the birds of prey. The professional staff really know their areas of expertise
If you visit, try and time it around one of the bird feedings. We saw Oliver, who was a fancy owl, and the lady handling him would have him fly right over your head and you get to feel awesome owl wind on you.
It's a cool place to visit, regardless, but being in the room with them flying all hither and tither made the experience WAY cooler.
I can't wait until they finish their construction on the new areas, it's going to be even cooler!
An amazing organization with dedicated and caring staff.
Thank you Jeff for taking time to teach us about Maddox the falcon.
Stopped here randomly during a cross country trip, knowing nothing about the conservatory. The volunteers were so welcoming and informative, we were able to learn so much, and are more aware of ways we can help as well. Definitely a place worth checking out!
Such beautiful birds! The volunteers are amazing! It's very peaceful! It's absolutely worth the $10, even though it is small. I would love to visit again!
This place is such a gift to the world, and the center is a small but so important and fascinating gift to Boise. Best advice though: call ahead to see when the show times are and try to plan your visit to catch one of several they have daily to see even more magic in action.
Very great experience. We got to learn so much and experience so much. There were some amazing things to see and experience. I went to it for my dad who had been dying to go and I didn't really want to go and wasn't very excited. Once I got there it was a game changer. I loved it!
Beautiful and well-maintained center. Our guide (Sadie?) was fantastic and very knowledgeable. Overall, however, I wish there was MORE here. It seems a little skimpy on displays, birds etc.
Enjoyable visit. Friendly staff. Very interesting to see and learn about the raptors. Archive area for falconry is only open twice a day, so check times for visit if you want to tour that. Also ask about when the showings of birds are, as they will take a couple out of confinement to present a closer look.
We never thought we could go. It was unforgettable, and exciting with the birds so close, including the demonstration right in front of us! The snowy day just added to the enjoyment.
Such a beautiful area doing immensely important work. It will be even nicer when they finish the new building. The condor exhibit was amazing.
Amazing experience. Very educational and informative. Staff was great and very knowledgeable! There are lots of birds there in large enclosures to view, and they do really unteresting demonstrations. We sat through a q & a session with one of their large owls, and couldn't stay for the falconing or free for demo, but would LOVE to come back for both next time we're in town. They do such great work at the center, and have greatly contributed to the increased number of endangered Condors being released into the wild! Can't say enough great things about this place!!
A family fun learning opportunity! See some of the rarest birds while supporting kids wildlife science programs! Great for a date or a family outing!
Amazing bird center. Call ahead and see if they are doing any demonstrations with their birds.
A wonderful place with so many knowledgeable and passionate people. I take all my out of town guests here. I’m so excited to see their expanded buildings etc when it’s done
Fantastic staff, great birds & performances. Interesting exhibits. Beautiful vistas. Amazing architecture too.
Absolutely marvelous facility, stunning birds, well cared for and very accessable for public viewing and interaction. A must see for any age bracket.
Fascinating, in depth educational experience. Docent/Volunteers have been there for years and you can ask them anything. Many live birds inside and outside, including California dodos!! Plan for two hours and call to make sure you find out when the guided tours are.
This place is more awesome every single time we go, I can't believe that we are lucky enough to live near a place that makes such an impact and does so much to educate the community. Keep it up!
A great place to see raptors and talk with docents and volunteers who are knowledgeable and passionate about the birds.
There was lots of construction and expansion going on, so it's exciting to see how they grow in the future!
The Peregrine Fund, dedicated to the conservation of threatened and endangered birds of prey worldwide, is headquartered around ten miles east of Kuna.
The World Center for Birds of Prey was established in 1984 on a hilltop roost covering 580 acres and with views over Boise to the north. There’s much to see at the visitor center, both inside and outside.
At spacious aviaries you can go nose-to-beak with a variety of majestic birds, including California condors, peregrine falcons and harpy eagles.
These are birds that are either being prepared for release or need to remain in captivity for their own safety, and you’ll find out more about them at informative daily presentations in the center’s theater.
A highlight on the calendar is the annual release of California condors as part of the center’s breeding program, taking place in September.
Inside you can find out about the Peregrine Fund’s operations and peruse the Archives of Falconry, a high-quality exhibit charting the history of the ancient sport of falconry.
Affordable, fun, and exciting our family and friends Enjoyed it. The birds are well taken care of, you won't be disappointed also our guide was extremely informative and great with the kids
Such a great place! Almost ALL volunteer!! We got there in time to have them bring it an owl and a red tailed hawk and talk about them.
They do absolutely amazing conservation work. Such a great place to learn about raptors & see them up close. Incredible.
Neat place to be edumacated on raptors, and stuff. I bought the year pass because im rich and can afford it, jk because it supports a great cause.
Got a calendar with the year pass, go birds!!
Not much here. Lots of stuffed birds and a few show birds. The staff makes up for it by being engaging and informative. Every few minutes starts a new talk or demonstration. Didn't see the staff get stumped even once with all the questions. Definitely worth the stop but don't plan this being an all day adventure. Also no food for sale.
Wonderful, informative, and educational for all ages. I bring people here when they visit Idaho and the Boise area.
Really excellent spot. The work they support is truly incredible. I learned a lot during my visit and got to see the birds flying and eating during the free flight while there. The docents and staff are incredibly knowledgeable!
The volunteers were exceptionally knowledgeable about the birds in the area and around the world. I thoroughly enjoyed learning how they have helped various birds of prey thrive.
Had so much fun seeing all of the beautiful birds of prey, and enjoyed learning about the amazing impact organizations like this have on wildlife conservation. Also stopped by just in time for a demonstration with one of the aplomado falcons! A great experience for all ages.
A very knowledgeable experience and how these birds of prey are a crucial indicator for the entire world's environmental health. Must visit if in Boise.
It was interesting but not really worth the money. It is a self guided tour, although a very knowledgeable docent guided us through the first 2 birds. There were only 7 birds total to look at.
Amazing experience. Was able to see California Condors, Harpy Eagles, and more birds I never thought I'd see. Friendly staff as well.
Docents extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Beautiful birds of prey for viewing. Tucked away. Educational. Nicely kept facility.
We are new to the area still discovering new things to do in Idaho, brought my teenagers to kill some time. It's not a very big place but the staff was pretty knowledgeable about the Birds. We stayed to see the live bird show I think it's a place for everybody and every age, places like this teaches kids and adults to appreciate nature. Most definitely visit again, next time will remember to bring a picnic.
Fantastic staff, knowledgeable, rapport with birds evident. Respect for all guests.
Small but mighty place! Loved how many different birds they have, and the up close enclosures. Lots of learning to be had too!
The birds are gorgeous. The bird flying show this Fall is inspiring. Lots of good information about conservation.
Birds of prey are facinating. We all have to help ensure that the endangered species survive for future generations. Got some pictures of the birds. No flash please. Eyes are fixed so they look the way the head is turned. Always checking everything out.
These predatory birds are absolutely incredible, if your stopping through Boise this place is a must.
I can't talk highly enough of this place. Such an absolute gem of an organization. The people here truly care about what they do. The exhibits are amazing, as well as the live shows.
Not very large but some beautiful raptors to see and helps support a great mission. Worth a visit.
Kind of sad that a few displays were not ready for observation. My family from MI will probably not be able to come back to see those exhibits but, I & my daughter probably will because we live here. What we saw was quite fascinating.
I've come here many times throughout my native Boise life and always enjoy my time spent. These guys do amazing things for our birdies and need as much support as we can give!! Everyone is super knowledgeable and truly care about their mission. I love bringing my daughter here and she has a great time interacting and learning. Definitely a must for Boise visitors and residents alike!
Went there on the spur of the moment. Enjoyed the Falconry Heritage and viewing the Raptors which are on display. Really liked the live bird presentation.
Great place, friendly staff, just wish there were more birds. What they do have is pretty amazing, and you can see them all pretty well
What an experience for our kids — our 13 & 10 yr old kids love animals and particularly birds — with falcons, owls, eagles & condors, the kids were definitely not disappointed — so much to do and hiking trails nearby we could have easily stayed all day — we would love to become annual pass holders if we ever relocate to the Boise area
I absolutely loved this place. The work that they are doing is phenomenal. Ask the staff questions! They are knowledgeable and passionate about their work. This is a great educational experience.
Wonderful experience seeing raptors up close. Under construction right now for a big expansion but still well worth the money to see. Look forward to my next visit.
Bit of a drive out of town but totally worth it. Great value for money as it was a privilege to see the magnificent birds
Very educational, great place to take children to learn about birds of prey.
Ask for a guided tour of the Archives! This special area holds many fine surprises, especially for people familiar with the technology and culture of falconry. Really fun!
Sheridan, Wyoming has many people who are accomplished falconers. There is an Audubon Area on the North side of the road, where birds of prey may often be spotted, West of town, past the end of 5th Street. Look up!
Great place to learn about falcons and other various birds.
Lots of friendly staff. Doing a lot of remodeling so I can't wait to see it all come together.
Place was awesome! Great displays and info. They brought out screech owls and a peregrine falcon for everyone to see.
This place is absolutely amazing. Make sure you check the schedule online for the live bird shows.
This place was AMAZING! Beautiful birds!
Very cool, educational place to see live birds of prey. The Harpie Eagle was impressive. Awesome place to take kids
The volunteers make this place alive! We loved the input they gave us! We heard lots of stories about different birds! The birds would "talk" to them! They are cared for and looked after! Great gift shop as well.
Very informative and so cool to see birds of prey up close. Not the largest, though nice to see they put the money into their mission rather then extraneous frills. They are adding more educational facilities through donations so excited to see that when done.
I have relatives come in town once a year and whenever they do they insist on making this one of our activities. It is a great learning experience for a good cause.
What an amazing place. So many things to see and do. I could spend all day out here.
We had a group of 15 and were able to get a private group tour. It was very nice!
Fall Flights informational and entertaining.
Excellent afternoon.
I love this place. They have several live species as well as specimens. Nice and knowledgeable volunteers for explaining things. I've been here four times and learn something every time. Great for an outing or showing friends or family. A gem in the gem state.
A very impressive and wonderful place for everyone, especially kids.
OMG...must see Boise classic!
A place I believe every reader of this post need to visit. Entertaining and informative. California Condor, Harpy Eagle and Bald Eagle and many more birds of prey
We went to the Fall raptor flight show. Wonderful exhibition of various birds and a great introduction to the conservation work they do around the world. The facilities are significant and expanding. It's wonderful to have an organization like this be apart of our community. Great experience especially for children.
The Fall Flights! An absolutely unique experience and a must go for people wanting to learn about birds of prey.
This center has many educational displays and some beautiful birds. There is a short trail to explore. It is very informational.
Love this place so much we became members….my daughter loves it even more..
Come visit and watch Oliver the owl take flight over your head in silence, but don’t forget Bob and Penny the Kestrel Falcons they are super cute.
Our favorite resident is named Greyson..he is a Harpee Eagle and if your really lucky and he’s in the mood, you might get to see him do his little dance and sing his little song…..(fyi his song is the sound, nightmares are made of) but we love him to death…..separated by the glass coz he scares us a little too…
This place was awesome! Live showings of some of the birds and beautiful large birds including a Bald and Harpy Eagle.
Super informative, entertaining, and most of all the staff and volunteers are awesome
This research center is so dedicated to preserve predator birds worldwide. All staff were very friendly and helpful.
Dianne was superb; we met her in the building and she was son friendly explaining what the organization is doing to preserve those precious birds. She presented about American Kestrel on the courtyard.
This is definitely an educational and worthy cause.
It was so awesome to see the red tail hawk flying and all of the other bird residents!
Lots of good info, and learning opportunities, seeing the birds up close is amazing
Excellent place to bring the kids. Very educational and the staff are incredibly friendly.
They are currently doing some major construction so many of the birds are not on display. Even so, the static displays and few birds you can see make it well worth the time. On a Saturday we saw three free flight examples that were simply thrilling. Phone ahead to confirm you'll have a similar experience.
Very educational. Lots of raptors to see. Staff will have some out sitting on their hands while conversing with the class. Great experience.
Very interesting. Would go back to improvements in the works.
We went for a Tech Trep field trip. The demonstration with the Peregrine was fun and informative. The campus is small but they are expanding, looking forward to seeing what is in store in the future
Intetesting BUT we were told the exhibits were indoors and there are several outside. Since it was cold that day, no bueno. We were also assigned a delightful, knowledgeable guide who gave is the informative outdoor " tour" ( brrrr) and caught up with us several times after an inside show. ( She was really enthusiastic, but ) ...we really didn't want a guide...
A wonderful experience for bird lovers and nature lovers alike. The tour guides and volunteers (Frankie especially) were knowledgeable and friendly. The over all mission of the center is incredible. Definitely worth a visit and the small admission fee is worth it
Fantastic place that does great work around the world. Staff were very knowledgeable and the unrelaseable birds they keep seem well looked after.
Fun, small attraction for families. They bring a bird out every hour on half hour. The staff was informative, friendly, and helpful. They stay around exhibits to answer questions. The lady in gift shop explained layout and bird encounter times.
They have cool birds of prey. We learned about and discovered a harpy eagle.
Fun and educational. Wonderful place to learn about raptors, and see a few up close. Amazing staff and volunteers.
So fun! We loved seeing Greyson, the harpy eagle. Very affordable and educational. Jeff was so great. If you see him and are curious about the history of a specific species or specific bird, ask him! He is very kind and knowledgeable! All of the staff were exceptional, in fact. Great customer service! A spectacular experience overall.
A great place to come and see Raptors up close. Very friendly and informative staff. Come watch the flying display late Sept through Oct.
All the Boise peeps said Fall Flights is a must see, and they were right! Go!
We loved it! The noon time video, seeing a live bird from the center and being able to take pictures and ask questions was amazing.
Great place to visit and learn more about raptors and people who safe engendering kinds. Very knowledgeable personnel and volunteers. Standing a step away from a person holding a large bird of prey was an interesting experience for the whole family.
Small but amazing! Absolutely worth the drive. There are raptors there you would never get to see otherwise. You could tell the caretakers really loved the raptors and loved their jobs. Will definitely go again!
It was such an amazing experience for me and my students. Its not every day you get to see such magnificent creatures so up close and personal.
The tour guides were amazing. As a teacher I have been on many different types of and these specific guides are in this for the birds and kids. Their knowledge and patience was awe inspiring. I will definitely be back with my family. Many thanks for this wonderful experience!
Lots to learn about the birds and there lives.
Take the tour you will be glad you did!!!
super informative! awesome place to take your kids
Amazing place. Their Harpy Eagle is a great example of a current conservation project
Great presentation show. The exhibition was very informative. Wel worth the drive.
Under renovation so we didnt get the full experience and the eagle was awesome!!
Gorgeous location and layout. Amazing species on display and an outstanding program.
Highly recommend you join the guided tours at 11am and 2:30pm so you can see the falconers museum and the Sheikhs exhibit in the research building as those are the only times it is open to the public and it was very worth the time.
Volunteers and staff are highly knowledgeable and friendly and the birds are stunning. Only wish I had come on a weekend in the fall as the free-flights events they described (where the birds are taken out and allowed to fly free) sounds amazing to witness.
Very educational center that I highly recommend for anyone visiting the Boise area.
Great facility, small but you can tell everyone there is passionate about their work. The birds were great too!
Absolutely amazing history here. Doing God's work for our feathered friends. I Absolutely loved this place thank you to my amazing sister for the experience.
Love learning about all the different bird species they help & protect.
Great place to visit and learn about the birds of pray.
What an incredible place! I've lived here my entire life and am embarrassed this was my first visit. The docents just walk up and provide fun facts and answer any question. I can't wait to come back. This is a real treasure in the Treasure Valley.
A well-done, informative exhibit. Keep up the great work you do!
Great place to visit. Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. It's a great opportunity to see some very cool hawks/eagles/owls. The Center is fairly kid friendly. The grounds are well cared for and clean. It's not huge but you can easily spend a couple of hours there with lots of educational / informative and interactive exhibits. They also offer live demonstrations. We saw a staff member train one of the hawks and watched another demonstration with a Milky Owl. There are benches and grass to eat lunch or let kids run a little bit. There is also a trail hike.
This is a top-notch place. It's very well kept and clean (including restrooms), and is not far off the beaten path. The buildings are in great shape. The grounds are small but beautiful with lots of shade. The docents are knowledgeable and entertaining. There are several live bird demonstrations each day and a falconry heritage tour, too, with lots of artifacts. There are about a dozen or so enclosures, inside and out, in which live birds are living, and you can view them (zoo-like). Most of what they do here (breeding endangered birds of prey for repopulation) is done behind the scenes but the docents can tell you so much about the program.
Adults and school-age children will enjoy the opportunity to get up close to the lively California Condors, an American bald eagle and many other beautiful birds of prey. We enjoyed the live presentations with the knowlegable staff handling an owl and red tail hawk.
The birds are located both indoors and outdoors, so this place is best visited in good weather. We were there on a mild August day, about 75° with little wind. Because the center sits atop a hill, I imagine it could get quite windy, but the view is amazing.
There is a lovely picnic area and the exhibits are suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.
The lids really loved this. We had lunch here with the kida. It was fun. Loved how it was clean and so many activities for the kids
We came here with family visiting from Oklahoma. They enjoyed it very much. We arrived a little before opening at 10, but the opened early. It was good that the docent reminded everyone that this is a captive breeding facility and not a zoo. They have several unique species on display, including California Condors. The live bird program was a hit with young and old. You should also experience the history of falconry exhibit. Well worth your time.
Cool place! Definitely worth a visit. The birds are incredible.
Wonderful spot. There is a nice collection of birds and the location is wonderful. The staff was super nice and informative. Caught an info session with a red-tailed hawk.missed the last tour of the day to see the library/collection space. It was also a little windy so we didn't do the whole scenic walk, but we did see some quail and rabbits on the grounds.
It was really a great experience and we had an awesome time. A group of adults and we weren't out of place at all. Every dollar you spend for entry and from the gift shop goes back to the foundation. Loads of neat birds, one of the staff did a great talk, and she discussed the condor situation as well. Really a must-see for visiting family, and for those who want to learn more about birds of prey.
Beautiful location. Don't miss the Fall Flights shows!!
Neat, well maintained and competently staffed bird center with beautiful birds to see and learn about with wild bunnies hopping around the grounds. They also have a world renowned museum of falconry which was a surprise and very informative. The gift shop was a delight too. If you have even a passing interest in birds this is a "go."
Beautiful and so peaceful... Thank you for saving beautiful California Condors and nursing other natures exotic birds...Hope to see improvement W/bringing the condors back there not the most attractive bird but show strength and a mystical beauty.Love your sanctuary!🙏❤❤❤❤❤ …
Wonderful visit! The staff were amazing with our large family reunion group and even were kind enough to give us a small special presentation. Not a ton of birds to see, but lots of fun information about a wonderful purpose and program.
Such passionate folks, great fall flight presentation!!
It was really great to support such an amazing effort and see some great birds. I totally recommend checking it out.
Excellent place to be! Love the falcons, owls, eagles, hawks, condors, and more! We enjoyed learning so much about these beautiful birds of prey. Some birds were 50 years old and loved learning how the condor was almost extinct and this center saved them. Learning more about falconry was amazing as well. Allan gave us a great falconry and hawk lesson and we even got to meet a beautiful hawk named Griffin. Paiton and Valerie were wonderful teachers informing us about the birds. Judy at the gift shop was amazing making us feel invited and welcomed as well. Thank you for this well needed birds of prey sanctuary and learning environment.
Beautiful birds that you won’t see anywhere else. So glad Idaho has a program like this to help preserve/grow these unique birds.
Also, the trails are not so bad either. They are great for viewing the city and its surroundings, as well as the yearly air show!
Everyone needs to learn more about how humans affect the environment. The Peregrine and many other animals become endangered from human activities. This interpretive center has great exhibits including live, nesting California Condor pairs. At least once daily they also have live meet and greets. Just WOW!!
Amazing experience. Great knowledge from all the staff. We learned so much about the projects the team has on and how they are helping save the world. Huge respect for all carrions!
Curtis provided us with a wonderful tour this morning. I wish I had more time to explore the exhibits near the research library. Well worth the drive and admission. Would be a fantastic place for a school field trip. Was very interested to hear about your high school volunteer program. What a great opportunity you offer to young people.
We really do need to increase education about conservation of wildlife and the ecosystem. So interesting to see the condors and to hear about your efforts. I well remember all the news coverage in the eighties. Progress has been slow and hard to believe is has been almost forty years since they were near extinction. What a loss it would be to future generations if these beautiful birds had not been rescued.
Thank you to the Sierra Club for organizing the tour! It was a privilege to participate.
I love coming here! Everyone is so nice and educated on the birds. Frankie and Norm are volunteers there and they are very nice. I always seems to learn something new each time.
Been meaning to check this out for years and can't believe I waited so long! So many beautiful birds, a great facility, and very informative and friendly staff. Really enjoyed the live lectures and ability to take pictures with the subjects. Be sure to pick something up from the gift shop, it's for a great cause!
This was an amazing experience! I wish it wasn't so expensive, but I understand that a place like this needs income to survive. They are doing Important work. We saw a show with an owl, and our presenters name was Tate. He did a fabulous job, especially considering that the show was full, and there were a lot of little kids due to it being spring break. He did a wonderful job of teaching the kids without interrupting the show. I highly recommend
My parents thanked ME for finding this place to check out during a trip through Boise. It was a great way to spend an hour or so in childlike wonder with fantastic birds and the people who are working to restore their populations and genetic diversity.
We took a friend again this year. With COVID-19, you had to reserve a time due to limited people allowed in at one time. We we were able to make same day visit. Had a nice presentation of 2 birds flying over our heads. Everyone was masked and staying apart. Pleasant day. Got info and watched the release of the California Condors a few weeks after our visit. Wonderful!
It’s a great experience for children ages 5 to 16... memorable shows and an excellent menagerie of birds...
I highly recommend it for the entire family, specially for out of town visitors (except kids from 16.5 to 22) will love it...
I also recommend to take lunch and have a picnic during or after the tour!!
There is 54 year old African eagle at the center that is so beautiful it looks like a painting. The harpies are majestic and the owls will move their heads in time with you like they are dancing. We were late to the bird show and one of the staff members brought an owl out just for us. It was great. I would recommend it.
Wonderful place for an afternoon trip! They regularly have informative shows on the lawn. My favorite was the Harpy Eagle! Really cool bird.
We really liked it. The Falconry center was open for a tour group and we were able to tag along. Very insightful, and then over to the main center and the raptors. My 89 yr. old mother was very happy to see all the raptors and exhibits. We are planning another trip soon.
This is a must see event if you've never gone. Be prepared to be outside for 40 min.
I remember helping to paint one of the exhibits when I was a teenager. Before that, I can remember going on a field trip with my school and learning about the different birds and their habitats. One thing that really stuck in mind was when we had to dissect one of those things that the owls spit back up after they have finished eating their prey. It's kinda like a hair ball full of bones. It was fun and very memorable. Very good place for the kids to learn and explore.
Not a bad spot for visiting with the birds of prey and learning about Falconry. The bald eagle is wow
Such quality bird loving people !!! Up close & very personal viewing of Birds that were doomed to their becoming part of the family!
Wow! This was Avery be impressive place! If you have ever wanted to have a falcon graze the top of your head (literally) while it blasts past at high speeds, THIS IS YOUR PLACE! It was so cool being so up close and personal with those birds. Plus their conservation efforts are absolutely amazing, considering we only have several falcon species alive still because of this organization. I will definitely go back some day on another trip to Boise.
10 dollars for maybe a dozen birds on display, one briefing about one bird, and some info to read. It's a nonprofit so all proceeds go to help the birds.
Note: this is not a zoo or a rehab center for birds.
This place is really cool. It's quite small, but it's pretty unique to see all sorts of raptors in one place.
They have 10 different birds on display at a given time. I'm not sure how often they rotate them out. The information in the interpretive center revolves around education and conservation of bird life as well as how the peregrine fund was made.
Every hour and a half or so a show is held where a bird that isn't on display will make an appearance. The volunteer or worker will give facts about the raptor and usually allow some time for photos.
Outside of the interpretive center are the archive of falconry, and the interpretive trail. Neither of those I've been able to do so my review is not based on those sections.
Interesting presentation by the docent. He was very knowledgeable. They had live birds to learn about. The little eastern screech owl was so cute!
I would have liked to see an actual demonstration of flying but I guess I will have to visit in the fall when they do such things.
Very much worth the trip. About 1.5 hours is all you need. The fund is impressive!
Loved it! It's all about the sit down presentation. A volunteer came in a room with the coolest little owl and gives a presentation and answers questions. I thought it was going to be boring and not worth the $10 to get in but ended up being pleasantly surprised. I learned a lot about birds of prey.
I love the passion of the people that work here. Can anwser darn near any question you could ever think of and give you more.
Who doesn't love birds of prey?!? I love hawks, owls, eagles, you name it! Love that you can see them up close and personal here at the center. We have a yearly pass and the Fall Flights are not to be missed. Plus, the area is beautiful. Just another thing to love about Idaho.
This place is great, we've been there twice. Awesome place, awesome staff. And the birds...
AWESOME!!!!
All the birds are there either due to injury or they were raised by people and have imprinted on them and would not survive in the wild.
Beautiful birds, although there are not a lot to look at. There are shows and an entire building with information about different birds around the globe and efforts to keep them from becoming extinct. Probably best to go in Spring, Summer, Autumn. Was a very informative and fun family experience!
Awesome place with Awesome people with an Awesome cause!
Such a cool place to see magnificent birds! They do showings with the owls so you can see them up close and personal! Not too crowded, and all the staff members were very friendly and welcoming.
Enjoyed the archive center very much. Wish we had more time there. Enjoyed the live demonstrations.
Amazing place great cause awesome staff that's all I have to say
Amazing place! This was such a fun stop for our family. The gift shop has everything a bird-lover could dream of! The live raptor presentation was very entertaining! Loved seeing all the birds too.
Great world renowned birds of prey center. We attended a Fall Flight demonstration on a Sunday. The entire event was very well organized and ran smoothly. The staff & volunteers are very knowledgeable and friendly.
I grew up in Boise and had never been to the World Center for Birds of Prey. It was a cool experience to see the birds up close. The guide was knowledgeable and fun. We also enjoyed learning about Falconry at the Archives of Falconry. The views up there were incredible too. It is a must see.
The library opens at specific times and if you make it in, with the tour guide only, you have only a few minutes after the tour guide finished to view the rest of it and it is quite extensive. Unfortunate. The gift shop in the main bldg has bird of prey kites! The area with the true to life wings is wonderful, and so is the exhibit showing all the bird eggs. The pond area outside with seating is clean, charming, and peaceful. There are many nice things here.
The fall flight program was amazing! It was a treat to watch such magnificent creatures wheel around the sky from the hillside amphitheatre, set against a gorgeous mountain backdrop. A real highlight of my trip to Boise (and they do raptor conservation work around the world!!!)
I've lived right up the road from this place for a while now and had never stopped by. Recently my dad came to visit me from Philadelphia, it was his first time in Boise and going to the Birds of Prey center was first on his list of places he wanted to go. We went with my 6 year old daughter, and it was a great experience for all 3 of us. The employees are very knowledgeable, there are activities for persons of any age, and the whole experience is very interactive. This is a great, affordable thing to do for any occasion.
Great place to take your family! There's so much to learn while there. The staff was great answering questions and taking us on tours. Throughout the day they bring their education birds out for everybody to see and learn. While we were there we got to see Oliver, an African eagle owl baby.
I loved going here with my mom. Got to take a selfie with a baby owl!!
Birds of prey sanctuary was great. My wife and I had just moved up from California amd this was one of the first places we visited. The sanctuary was placed at the top of a hill with great views surrounding. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. As we were walking around the sanctuary we were approached by a young lady who worked there and given a background into each bird we saw. We learned where the birds were acquired, what their habits are and everything in between. We stayed for the falcon show which was in an open air natural rock bleacher arena. There were posts around the seating area that the falcons would be able to perch on. As the falconer was speaking his bird would fly around the guests and even swoop by a few heads putting on a great show. I would definitely recommend visiting.
I have got to say, I am a bit impressed. There isn't really much you can do unescorted, and I would LOVE to view the museum that they don't allow people to walk around freely in (I saw it, but wanted more time in it). This was impressive enough that I donated to the cause. Really impressed. I do wish it was bigger, but that would eat at the funds used to save the falcons.
The World Center for Birds of Prey is a wonderful family destination! Our boys were enthralled with the hands-on educational exhibits as well as getting to see such majestic birds up close. We also enjoyed walking the short trail and getting a beautiful view of the Boise valley! I highly recommend this for anyone who has kids that are interested in birds - it was enjoyable for the whole family!
Wow, the World Center for the Birds of Prey is so eye-opening, exciting, and has plenty of ooh-moments. The birds are magnificent and exotic. You won't be disappointed, the center is very interesting and full of astounding information. Every one on the staff was so friendly too. Can't wait to go back
Quality birds of prey breeding and education center. Docents are well educated and provide excellent information. The falconer museum tour provides access to one-of-a-kind exhibits including an awesome display of Middle Eastern falconry from the 1400s to today.
A place for bird lovers. Their collections are not rich and there are several scopes for improvement.
It was neat to see these large birds up close. We were there at feesing time...exhilarating!!!
Fall flights was well worth it. Don't miss it.
Very informative. I appreciated the "up close" experiences that docents provide with the birds. And the non-profit organization is doing great work to increase endangered raptor populations all over the world. I highly recommend visiting this center.
We love it! We have three very young children, and they had a blast! It's very child friendly, and there is someone available at all times to answer questions or teach you about the birds.
Excellent place to visit and learn about birds. The demonstrations are great and educational.
There is so much information here about raptors. Our guide, Dick, was engaging, informative and funny. The tour took nearly three hours, and some folks dropped out to see the place on their own. One word of advice: If you have very young children, please explore on your own. They could become bored and fussy on the tour, which is no fun for them or anybody else.
Our kids (and us) loved it! We will be back....
From out of state but today was our 3rd visit - good to hear about the owl woods & other upgrades planned ! Wholesome setting for families! Thanks to all volunteers!
Was a great place to spend the afternoon. Didn't get a chance to check out the library on site but will be back for that. There were 9 of us ranging from 9 years old to 64. There was something for everyone. The staff was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. The displays and shows were thoughtful and fun. Will be back!
Awesome experience! Very knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended. Great live show so too speak with a falcon and a hawk!
Price is right. Goes to a good cause. Staff is passionate about the birds and their mission.
Just coffee shop is superb! All of the different coffees I've tried have been wonderful! They must have a great vendor for their pastries because two different times I've tried cinnamon rolls and each time I really enjoyed them. They are always pretty quick and very friendly and nice.
I can't wait until they're finished with the renovation and new buildings. It'll go from 5 stars to 10
The World Center For Birds of Prey is an amazing place, and we are so lucky to have them in our community! They provide a wonderful educational experience for all ages, and have been involved in very important conservation projects that I have followed for most of my life. It is so encouraging to see how far they have come with the Perigrine Falcon and California Condor programs since my childhood. This is a place to return to, again and again. I love it here.
A great experience for everyone of all ages who enjoy birds! A wonderful variety of endangered birds, with a very polite staff! Can't wait to come here again!
Fall Flights are incredible and it is always fun to see the birds and exhibits. I admire how passionate and knowledgeable all the volunteers are.
Family friendly, Great place for kids. Friendly staff, very knowledgeable. Can't wait to come back.
Had a great time watching these birds of prey. Amazing to see them close up. Mackenzie brought out an owl to talk about and that was fantastic. Want to go back in the fall when they have some of the birds flying around outside.
An amazing destination. I really had a great time. The live bird showing was really awesome. It was also informative. I really had a good time and learned a lot.
Amazing, though you cannot touch birds (for good reasons). They have ones that can't be returned to the wild in a cabin sized "living space" (nothing like a cage) with plenty of room for each individual, with fake grass perches, water rocks and wood.
I saw 1 harpy eagle, some owls, a california condor, and a bald eagle.
What a fun trip! This is a quick ride from downtown Boise, you can see lots of birds of prey that are not able to be released, learn about the intervention (and dedication) needed to preserve various species of birds of prey. They are currently working to breed and release the California Condor — amazing work! Absolutely stay for the bird of prey demonstration/talk; wish we could be her in the fall for the outdoor demonstration!
Fun place to visit with little kids. Worth at least an hour of entertainment walking around and seeing all the birds of prey. If you visit on a day with planned events, it's best scheduled on a day with good weather as many of the activities are outdoors.
A great activity! I like to go in the morning with my toddlers, pack a picnic lunch as they have some picnic tables, and then head home for toddler naps. The birds are beautiful, the presentations are educational, and it's definitely a Boise gem.
There's a lot of construction right now, but the birds are AMAZING and it was worth the trip! I'm excited to go back!
This is a great place to learn about birds and get to see eagles, Falcons, owls, condors and more up close. The staff is very informative and love to teach everyone about the birds. I learned a lot of interesting facts.
Very informative. Great opportunity to see in credible birds up close. Worth the visit.
The habitat and grounds are so attractive and well maintained. Narrators and all the staff were very friendly and willing to answer questions. A wonderful variety of birds to observe. I would definitely recommend visiting this for all ages.
Fun experience with the family. The staff is very knowledgeable and personable. Seeing and learning about the birds was captivating and entertaining. Thank you!
Great and one of an only kind of place. They shuffled us straight to the presentation so we didn't miss anything as soon as we got there so we could worry about paying later. Definitely worth spending a few hours and learning about falconry
Really cool place. Lots of wild birds you don't get to see every day and it's all very informative and interesting. Would definitely recommend to anyone with kids.
Amazing place to learn about Raptors who are essential to our ecosystem. How to prevent their loss and extinction.
It was really cool. It brought back memories of elementary school. Cool to see the success they have had.
Seeing birds of prey up close? Unforgettable. Also, the staff is awesome and the bathrooms are clean and nice.
Really cool. A very small place, but you get to see birds up close. I don't know as I would take small children there. Older kids would be fine if they are interested in birds .
The volunteers are very knowledgeable and eager to enhance your experience!!
Very cool place, it's a must see if your in the area, they have done a great job at educating everyone on raptors and the behaviors, be sure and go during the shows and when the raptors are flying . . . It's my second time and will definitely be back
Be prepared for heat outside but indoor exhibits are air conditioned. Not a whole day adventure, fairly small.
This place is AWESOME! It's a must visit if you are in Idaho
Really friendly, knowledgeable staff. We showed up right before a live demonstration was starting. To make sure we didn't miss it, they postponed collecting admission fees until after the demo.
There's so much to learn, see, and do. Staff are quick to answer questions and help explain things in a way that engaged our 2 year old.
Went there on a Monday morning at 10 am with my 3 daughters and wife. Excellent little spot. Everyone was super friendly, staff was very knowledgeable and haopy to chat. Some really awesome birds can be seen here and really interesting things can be learned! The gentleman doing the presentations (George..? I believe) was super great and friendly. Great dealing with large groups of people. A note to parents going: PLEASE CONTAIN YOUR CHILDREN. We had to split from the main group as we didnt want our daughters to get in trouble for something that the other chikdren might have done. There is a museum/library area with display glass cabinets, while we were there children were walkimg on them and stomping on them as well. Running amok touching everything. They were also screeching at the birds and running and jumping off of things. Please YOU'RE SCARING THESE BIRDS. CONTAIN your chikdren when you are there. Please. Ruins it for the birds and also the people around you. Back to the main point though, this place is AWESOME!!
This is a must see! Amazing birds and a great staff that is very knowledgeable. Also the museum of falconry is here and you can tour it as well. Very informative and this group does a lot to preserve endangered raptors.
Amazing place! Had so many cool birds
So cool! I really enjoy going here as do the kids. They have fun interactive things you can do. They also bring out birds and tell you about them while you get to enjoy them up close.
Highly recommend! This is a great place for the family. The name World Center For Birds of Prey is no over statement. It IS the world center and Smithsonian quality is reflected. This is a seemingly undiscovered treasure in the treasurer valley with conservation work world wide.
Small, but has some bird species on display I've never seen before. Doubt you'll see a California Condor anywhere else in the world. Staff is friendly and eager to answer any questions. 8 of us visited for less than $50.
Worth the $3 just for the interactive lecture on falconry! (At the archives building). Across the parking lot is the main building where the breeding/injured raptors are kept.
Small birds sanctuary with beautiful birds.
They need our help to save endanger birds and they are doing an amazing job.
If you are in Boise definitely go and take your kids with you.
So much to see! Birds were beautiful, staff was knowledgeable and friendly, and the gift shop had really cool items
For the price, I didn't feel like the place lived up to the hype. They do have a peregrine falcon that they show you (though they don't allow it to fly around) if you go to the class and they have a nice exhibit for their California condors, but that's about all of the highlights. The rest of their birds (not many) are kept in jail like exhibits that just make you feel sad for them. The "play room" was also very disappointing which is saying something as I have 4 children under 7.
This place is amazing! You have to visit it at least once if you are in the area. The number of different birds of pray is incredible. And there are times that you can get up close with many of the birds with the staff.
Birds of Prey is located on 580 acres on a hilltop overlooking Boise which conserves rare and endangered raptors around the world by research and captive breeding.
Due to Covid-19, you have to purchase the ticket in advance for a 90 minute visit.
I love zoo because of the opportunity to learn about different species of animals. Though it is not as big as a zoo, but it was a great experience to see various kinds of raptor birds. There were live demonstrations and shows of the birds.
It is a really amazing and educational place and I highly recommend it to anyone who lives in the Boise area.
This was a great experience. The staff is wonderful and the birds are fantastic. Please come see this place and donate to help support their efforts to keep raptor populations viable.
A very Interesting place to take the whole family to learn about birds of prey. My favourite the Condor recovery program that they are doing. Take your whole family and enjoy all they have to show you.
Grear place you can interact and view different birds. You can learn so much from the interactive displays. My kids had fun watching real birds up close and trying on the wings available for "dress up".
Must see. Fantastic learning experience. Lots of live birds. Falcons, hawks, eagles, and condors. The staff is great and very knowledgeable. If you are in the boise area make time to visit.
Very informative. The Fall Flights presentation was fun and surprising. You can tell the people there really care about the raptors in their care. Can't beat the view over Boise either.
Very informative experience and fun for all ages, but please show courtesy to the presenters and the other guests by shutting off phones which is clearly posted when walking into theater. Can't tell you how rude and disruptive it's been traveling the country to have people who are constantly ignoring common manners.
The day I visited the Bird Of Prey sanctuary, I was considering Volunteering for this location. Which they have a summer volunteer oportunity for teens. They inhabit many rare and hard to find birds. Such as a Turkey Vulture or Condors. They work on keeping many diffrent birds away from extinction. This they tell you about if you choose to watch a presentation they provide. Going here is not free, you pay in the entrace where you may also find merchandise.
Lovely place to visit for all ages. The birds are fascinating and all staff and volunteers are very knowledgeable. It’s worth supporting such an amazing organization saving Condors and other Birds of Prey
Great, friendly place to take the family. Very interesting presentations and a nice gift shop that is more than reasonably priced. Fun place to take kids to learn about birds of prey!
Was a very nice facility. Frankie was our guide and she was great, and informative. Iam very glad we stopped there. We were seeing Idaho and made a special trip to see it. 3 grandsons really enjoyed as well.
Fantastic center for birds of prey. Really enjoy the live raptor presentation, birds on display, and especially the archives of falconry building. Spent over 2 hours at the center. Learned a lot about these birds & what is being done to save them.
There are 12 birds of prey to see and a 15-minute demo every 2 hours or so. I wished the outdoor bird enclosures looked like they had more interesting things for the birds to do.
We absolutley loved our time here. The professionals that operate this facility are kind, patient, dedicated and wonderful to spend time with. It is clear this facility and team are making a real difference to the Raptors and people of our planet. Thank you for all you do!
Awesome learning experience for the whole family. Beautiful live show and awesome gift shop and options to help endangered birds of prey. Some awesome birds on display.
Very interesting visit due to exceklent volunteer...beth
Great place to learn about raptors such as eagles, hawks, owls and falcons. Your tickets and purchases go to conservation efforts around the world. You'll see the California Condor, Harpy Eagle and more.
Worlds largest English language library on falconry. The site has a number of raptors that cannot go back into the wild. They do demonstrations with various raptors. Just a place everyone should visit.
We had a wonderful time visiting the center. It was well worth the $7 entry fee. The birds were truly unique and so entertaining to look at. The place was clean and the staff was so nice. Thank you for a fun memory.

Everyone should see this world class facility for raptor conservation. I was very excited to see this photo by my grandfather in the main exhibit. But nothing beats the birds themselves.
Awesome fall flight show. 4 raptors and their handlers put on an exhibition for an over capacity crowd. Thanks to this group we have California condors and peregrine falcons in our sky's still.
