Absolutely beautiful place, the welcome center has beautiful view of the land below. The restrooms where clean and spacious. Not to mention every building there was elegant and practical. The welcome center has thousands of pamphlets, maps, pictures and two people for information. They even explained the state flag for my daughter and I. The two ladies there need a raise

Best rest stop in Maryland. Picnic tables available - we had a wonderful picnic lunch enjoying the magnificent splendor of the Youghiogheny River Valley and Youghiogheny River Lake. Rest rooms are clean. Vending machines available.

Very nice rest area/visitor center. Very well kept and very well maintained and you just can’t beat the beautiful views. The bathrooms were spotless, plenty of toilet paper, soap and hand sanitizer. Parking lots were spotless, trash cans emptied. They had picnic tables available and a scenic overlook.

Whenever you're going eastward from say Ohio and onwards towards Washington or Baltimore, make sure to stop here. This is a picturesque little rest area that offers breathtaking views of the valleys below. Coming from the west, this place is quite literally the first time you feel you're in the 'East'. The mountains and the scenery - This is the true beginning of Maryland.

Very beautiful this morning, had a fog bank over Deep Creek lake. It's a beautiful overlook every day of the year. It's on Interstate 68 just inside of Maryland near west Virginia boarder....

Bathrooms were working, mostly, a few things out of order, but a good stop along a busy highway. Distant view but there are power lines and of course the highway.

Alright, on a long trip you have to take a break every now and then, why not here? The view is awesome. It definitely beats the ones that all you see are cars, caravans, tractor trailers, and RVs. The facilities, and grounds, were well kept. There is a info center, but it was closed when I stopped. This is a very pleasant, and believe it or not, relaxing place to take a break.

Excellent view. However, little tacky that you have to put up handwritten signs to explain how toliet works.

This place is nice outside. The vending machines have lots of options. The view and the overlook area is nice. The bathrooms, however, are in serious need of updates. The toilets have special instructions handwritten to flush and if done wrong they look like they may over flow all over the floor. The mirrors are odd plastic covered in scratches. They have only one paper towel holder that was empty and the air dryers are so weak you'd be better off blowing on your own hands.

Scenic overlooks are all very similar - and the view from this one is great. It's nice that the bathrooms are very clean and they do have a small vending area. If you've got a dog you need to walk it you're in good luck. There was plenty of parking and it felt like a very safe environment. I enjoyed the stop and congratulations for the management for keeping the place nice and clean.

Its a nice overlook for a rest stop but highway 40 or the national road has better views just along the road. Welcome center was closed but bathrooms were open.

If stressed out after driving for long, this is a perfect picturesque place to stop. A small but decent rest area, with few benches & sufficient parking space. It has this amazing overlook of Youghiogheny River Lake, if you have good camera & lens you can capture the boats.

On my recent road trip, I make a point of stopping at every state welcome center I passed (not the regular rest areas, just the ones right after you enter a new state). Some had fun art or nice playgrounds or cute museums, but this one was the most spectacular because the main feature is a fabulous overlook! What a view! The truck portion is a little lower, but for cars they have you go up a small hill where you look down at the hills and the river valley. It was gorgeous and relaxing. Great place for some pictures or a picnic or just to breath and rest for a moment.

The two ladies working here were incredibly nice and provided a ton of information to me and my group. The amount of materials they gave us for me simply asking one question might have been too much, but hey, I'm not complaining. The burger king line is a forever wait, to top it off, I didn't like how people were okay with the lady working the register collecting money, then turning around scooping fries without washing her hands. I'm not use to that and it's sad people are actually okay with that. Part from that. The rest area itself has a good amount of space for the truck drivers to park and rest.

We got here early. Parked closest to exit. Left room behind and in front for other trucks. At midnight someone blew his horn expecting us to move. We didn't. It's a tight area for trucks. Did appreciate the dumpster and Porta Potty.

I saw one person exit and get on the expressway in the opposite direction (down the hill) so they must have seen the overlook from the way they were traveling and turned around to stop in.

As rest stops go this one is a good one. The bathrooms are clean and not crowded. We didn’t see a line for the women’s room and the vending machines were updated and seemed priced ok (no $3 sodas). The view across the valley is great but you will have to photoshop out the power lines running across your pictures.

Beautiful on the outside not so much on the inside. The bathrooms were a strange setup and half of it was out of order. The men's room urinals were right beside the sinks with no divider. Wife said the ladies had similar issues. It's like someone tried to make a fancy rest stop bathroom and ran out of money half way in.

On my drive from Oklahoma City, OK to Cumberland, MD I stopped at many, many welcome centers and rest stops. This one was by far the most beautiful of my trip. Not to imply that other's are bad. But this one is gorgeous. Beautifully maintained. Awesome staff. In and out as quickly as you might like but worth sticking around and stretching your legs.

My family and I have stopped here many times over the years, the most recent being about 2 weeks ago. On every stop I feel as if I'm close to home even though I have over 2 hours of driving left. With its great views it's a good place to kick off the final leg of our journey.

States visitors center and travel information building had a sign stating that it was closed permanently, bathrooms were open but dingy, stocked well. View was the highlight of the stop. A nice place for a leg stretch and bathroom break but not really much else.

Rest stops don't get much nicer than this one. Absolutely gorgeous view. And they have "Large Print" MD maps. The good part is that they don't make you pronounce Youghiogheny before they give you the map.

There is a great View. Three level parking. Top for Cars. Middle for Campers. Bottom for SemiTrucks. With a long stairway if you dont want to use the PORT-A-JOHN. Dumpster available for trash. Limited SemiTruck Parking and gets used a lot for OVERSIZE LOADS.

This rest area has a great view of one of the tributaries, the Youghiogheny River, that feeds in the Ohio River. They do have a Welcome Center there but it is only open from Thursday-Monday.
