Reviews of Frederick Visitor Center
Very well organized visitor center. They have free wifi with fast connection. Friendly staff. Ask for a Frederick movie in the theater. This place is like a museum with plenty of information about history of Frederick.
This place is really good for finding out about places in Maryland and things to do as someone who is new to living here. The staff members are kind and willing to help, they also check in with you which is nice. There are many pamphlets about sightseeing, events and shops here in Maryland. I would definitely recommend this place for people wanting to find out more about Maryland or if you are new!
Very friendly staff. I enjoyed looking around. We did watch the 15 min. Movie about Frederick and some surrounding things to do. Also if you park in the garage they will give you a free 3 hr. Voucher
Wonderful visitors center! Great first stop for learning about the area and all it has to offer! Staff were very helpful and friendly. Maps and printed tour guides were excellent.
The ladies working here were very polite, friendly and helpful. Found exactly what I was looking for. The exhibits are interesting and informative. The layout is easy to understand and the center as a whole is quite lovely.
The Frederick Visitor center is not only beautiful but full of great information about the area. Make sure to take a few minutes and watch the video about the area, it is worth the time. Make sure to ask about any special events, the team there is always willing to help.
Absolute must visit before you do anything else! Took a day trip down to fredrick and don't know our way around, so we stopped at the visitors center and it was the best decision we made. We found a great train ride that also served dinner, Went to a baseball game and ziplining! Amazing trip!
Lots of information on Frederick City, Frederick County, and central Maryland. Very friendly and helpful staff! A beautiful facility with plenty of free parking and clean bathrooms. Frederick has something for everyone and the visitor center hosts will happily help you find just what you need!
Everyone is super friendly and helpful! You can buy the downtown gift cards here which is convenient. Glad they have off-street parking.
Pretty much what it says. If you are visiting Frederick, this is a good place to start - and parking is readily available.
Beautiful building with ample parking. Nice exhibits and an informative, 14-minute free video about all the places to see, and things to do in Frederick and nearby. Souvenir/gift kiosk. VERY friendly and helpful staff who didn't mind answering a plethora of questions including something as mundane as whether the tree at the Hessian Barracks was a Champion Maryland tree, for example. Good hours are available for visiting the Center and getting information. Also very clean, modern public restrooms available.
Very helpful place. Friendly staff knows all about local attractions, restaurants, accommodations, etc. You can park free there for a few hours if going for a quick visit. Very clean restrooms!
Nice displays and very knowledgeable people to help you plan your day in Frederick. Small but nice gift selection. Great movie explaining the historical sites. Worth the stop before you select the sites you might want to visit while there.
I knew about this place, but I've never actually been until today. This really is a hidden gem in Frederick. They have all sorts of information that even long time residents of Frederick county can benefit from. I would recommend that you check out thier website as well. Lots of good information on things to do in Frederick!
Great place to start your visit to Frederick. The employees are super friendly and very informative. Loved the short video in the viewing room. We did a weekend getaway to Frederick and so glad we stopped in here first. We did the walking tour and learned a lot about the area. Lots of great architecture, restaurants, breweries and shopping. Can't wait to come back in the fall.
Lovely well maintained building. Air conditioning was perfect on hot day. Clean and plentiful bathrooms. Free place to park on weekends that is close to the river walk. Lots of brochures and an informative movie playing in the theatre. Finally the wonderful man at the desk was a delight. He told me where to go to see the best view in Frederick and other tourist tips.
Stopped in Frederick to stretch our legs after a long drive. Went into the Visitor Center to find a short outdoor activity and the ladies at the counter were so incredibly kind and helpful. We ended up doing the outdoor Art Walk. We didn't have time to see everything, but fell in love with Frederick. We will be back!
A great place to start your visit to a charming city. The introductory video is good for first time visitors, but even repeat visitors can get information on public events, gather self guide tour material, and speak to friendly staff who are happy to help. The bathrooms are nice, especially after a long drive.
Wonderful exhibits and courteous staff at the information area. The visitor center is housed in a spacious early 1800 renovated building for cannery with original bricks and wood beams.
Since the printed brochure about Frederick's architecture walking tour is not available, staff Maria kindly printed out a colored copy for me from its website. Very impressed with her hospitality!
Excellent staff - I suggest you ask them for recommendations of things to do, even if you have already spent time in Frederick - we always learn about something new to visit. Clean, public restrooms. Nice displays and a good selection of guides. Thanks!
An instant welcome as we entered the visitor center. We enjoyed the Incredibly welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable staff. We were looking for Frederick mugs or anything Frederick. Frederick items typically included the famous spires of Frederick. There are more gift choices of MD souvenirs than of Frederick. My friend loved the Frederick spires mug I gave her. I wish I had bought one for myself.
Very interesting displays & lots of brochures. Sadly, nobody else there except a rather helpful woman; there were some questions I asked that she cldn't really answer.. I can't wait to read all the info I obtained. The place is in an ordinary-looking building, so watch hard for it or you'll overlook it.
So here's the tea, I only went in because I was going to location scout with the Director and Producer of our film, Reversal, and along the way my phone died. You know what else died? The car lighter thing so I couldn't charge my phone! I kept asking people where this bar was, and like... no one goes out to bars anymore??? OK FREDERICK FOLK #CONCERNED. Anyways, I found this place-- FREE PARKING. And then these two lovely ladies knew exactly what bar and gave me a map. How nice. And then on top of that, they even let me charge my phone. I then used the juice to call my Producer and tell her I was lost... VERY lost.
Moral of the story, the place looked dope af inside and the people were very nice!
Very impressive center. The staff was very knowledgeable. Gave us all of the information to figure out logistics for an upcoming wedding. Thank you very much.
The staff are great here, very helpful. Gave us lots of information on the area & the phone # to call w more questions if we need to. Beautiful building, they've done an awesome job representing Frederick
Really enjoy visiting Frederick MD, and their visitor center is very well done. They have information on the area, with things to see and do in and around Frederick, MD. The person working the desk was friendly & cheerful, offering information on a very nicely put together walking tour of downtown Frederick, MD. The city has a lot of shops and restaurants to visit, along with some museums and theatres.
Frederick is a neat historical town and the visitors' center is the place to go to get info on what to see. The staff was very helpful and thorough about what to see based on our interests (historic versus shopping). There is a lot to see in this town!
I first discovered the Frederick Visitor's Center when I moved here in 2010, and I still stop in front time to time. It's a great way for both visitors and new residents to get a sense of what Frederick County offers (their displays and information aren't limited to the city). Knowledgeable staffers are always on hand to answer questions, and the Center offers a small video presentation on the history of the County. You'll even find free 45 minute parking every day, a rarity in downtown Frederick.
If you want to find a place to go in town that's the place to go they are friendly and very helpful
Wonderful and proactive help provided after calling on the way to the airport selecting Frederick gifts for my son's German host family abroad. Excellent suggestions and even better customer service in May of 2017!!!
Love the selection of Frederick items. Bought a Downtown Frederick gift card and the 2020 celebrate Frederick ornament. Lots of good information if you are a resident or a visitor.
Nice to be able to park as long as you want for free on weekends. Nice restrooms. Very close to the riverwalk path which allows you to walk or bike over 3 miles one way along the creek.
Very helpful staff answered every single one of my questions kindly and thoroughly. Set me up with the walking tour of town, which I enjoyed immensely. Gave me very useful advice and helped me get on my way quickly. Good energy!
Very friendly, helpful staff. Enjoyed reading the signs on the walls about the historical pictures, artifacts placed around the room. Plenty of brochures for sightseeing and things to do.
The staff here is very friendly, but we struck the jackpot with a retired Park Service employee. We learned about sites not just in and around Frederick, but Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia too! The brochures available make for a great history lesson if you're unable to make it to some of the sites.
Everyone at the center was very helpful with giving us information on the city. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you are looking to move out to Frederick. One of the nicest visitor centers I have ever been to.
The two attendants could not have been nicer. Extremely helpful and just seem generally happy to help people. I wish more people were like this
We arrived in town late and the ladies gave us the perfect itinerary of things to do in the amount of time we had. Everything they suggested we enjoyed. Nice exhibits as well.
WOW! This is a place to stop to discover the gems in and around Frederick. The visual displays highlight the treasures to be found. The brochures are helpful. The people at the desk made us feel welcome, answered our many questions, and suggested a plan of action for our the time we had.

If you are new to the Frederick MD area, or visiting, this is an essential place to visit. An excellent place to get good information about the region's and its attractions. This is a new location (my old GPS unit took me to the old location when I searched by name.)
The employees were so helpful with advice about Frederick and the area in general. The presentations in the movie theater were very well done. A worthy stop.
15 minutes of two minute film clips that convey the essence of Frederick. Staff want you to get the most out of your visit. Cooperate above and beyond with groups like the Maryland Geocaching Society, the Freestate Happy Wanderers, Roads Scholars.
The Frederick Visitor Center was a nice place to visit and learn about the history of Frederick County. I also visited a restaurant there called Dutch's Daughter, which was a very nice place to eat.
