Reviews of Sierra Nevada Beer Tours
The Beyond the Pale tour was educational and fun! Great, knowledgeable tour guide. Plenty of beer samples on the tour! The back porch and garden area was beautiful and I was impressed by their use of environmental considerations in the brewery operation and the porous parking lot that filters water prior to entering the Broad River. It’s like beer Disneyland! The only bummer was the long wait for a table in the restaurant, so we just drank instead. Get going, you’ll love it!
The 45 minute tour at Sierra Nevada brewery was a great experience! The tour guide, Bill, was knowledgeable and friendly. We got to see the entire process of brewing from start to finish, learn about how the facility runs, learn about the amazing efforts to reuse everything along the process (the used mash is used for cattle feed, they recapture CO2 from the fermentation to use to carbonate their own beverages, steam is captured to heat the facility's water, etc), and there is a nice tasting of multiple beers at the end. It is a great value for the price, and the grounds are beautiful.
I will definitely return to try out their restaurant and take advantage of the nice outdoor space they have.
We visited the brewery in the Fall of 2021. Everything was beautiful in the brewery. We did the self guided tour but I feel like I missed so much and need to go back.
We ate at the restaurant and had the delicious Duck Fat Fries and Hot Wings. Those hot wings need to be a whole lot bigger for the price that we paid. I can’t remember what else we had but those two items stood out among them. We will go back sometime this spring.
The Sierra Nevada brewery is an amazing place! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the grounds and facilities are very clean. There's so much to learn so I really recommend a tour (Tony was awesome and made us laugh). After the tour, we made our way to the tap room, where they had live music and several varieties of beer on tap. It was cold out, so unfortunately we did not get to make our way outside, but there was an outdoor area with games and fireplaces and lots of outdoor seating. We did not eat in the dining room, but it was grand and smelled amazing. Our last stop was in the gift shop. There wasn't a ton to choose from, but they did have a lot of tshirts and tops, as well as smaller knick knacks like stickers, dog accessories, keychains, etc. I will definitely be going back when it's warm and trying the dining room. What a cool place!
What a place! Our neighbors recommended we tour here while visiting Asheville and I’m glad we did. About 30 minutes south of Asheville and worth the drive. The brewery tour was informative, interesting, and fun. We learned a lot and developed much appreciation for this organization and their commitment to sustainability. The patio and grounds are beautiful and the brewery itself was impressive. Definitely recommend a tour here. Small plates are served out of the kitchen. Live music venue off the back patio along with a large, organic garden and two bocce ball courts. We arrived around 1:45 on a Thursday and there was still a wait for dining. Our tour started at 3:00. We didn’t expect a wait given the day/time, but they got us a table within 10-15 minutes so it all worked out fine. Point being, get there early! There’s plenty to explore if there isn’t a wait :) Only part that left me wanting more was the food menu. I think adding a larger selection of sandwiches would be excellent!
If you are at all curious about craft beer making, then Sierra Nevada Brewing Company is the tour for you. I highly recommend doing the 45 minute tour/tasting to get your feet wet. Then, as I did, dive in the next day, if possible, for the 3 hour "beer geek" tour. Even if you dont do the bg tour, the facility and grounds are amazing. There is a really nice restaurant right on property, and of course plenty of amazing craft beer to sip and enjoy at your leisure, either on the 2nd story deck, or by thelarge firepit. I highly recommend stopping if you are in the area. A visit is well worth the time. Dont forget to get some awesome Sierra Nevada swag, from apparel to beer glasses, on the way out!
We came up the mountain to Sierra Nevada as a staff outing from our craft distillery in Greenville. We had an absolute blast! Everyone was wonderful and it was super cool to see behind the scenes of such a large operation and to be able to relate the equipment we use on a daily basis to their massive versions of everything. Alyssa was very knowledgeable and we loved going into the hop room and seeing and smelling the different varieties that they use. The tasting was great and featured a great range of beers from citrus to stout.
We did the Beyond the Pale tour, and truly enjoyed our experience. We learned a lot about the history of Sierra Nevada, and about the brewing process. It was the perfect amount of time, and the price was very fair for all that is included in the experience. The brewery itself is beautiful, as well as the grounds. We ended up getting food, and everything that we ate was delicious. I highly suggest spending time out in the back garden area as well. They have corn hole and bocce ball, as well as live music on certain days. We will definitely be back!
This is an excellent and informative tour. Thanks Amy! You were excellent. I attended with a group from Kenya sponsored by USDA and they indicated that this was the highlight of their immersion experience.
thoroughly enjoyed the brewery tour, tony & alyssa were excellent guides, there was a ~long wait for the taproom, but the open-seating 'beer hall' has the same(?) menu with some Outstanding dishes. ( liked the beer too :)
If you have never tried Sierra Nevada, now is the time to start! We recently toured the Sierra Nevada production facility in Asheville, North Carolina and were blown away by the beauty of the facility and the sustainability they have created from the beginning to the end of the process. Having never tried a Sierra Nevada product before, we were very impressed with the selection of products at the taste testing. We will definitely be drinking Sierra Nevada in the future.
This place is outstanding. All their beers are all good. The facility is stunning. Love the architecture, fits into the landscape. The tour was educational and cool to see such a large operation work so smoothly. They have a taproom, restaurant, huge back deck and beer garden, a stage. The are very eco environmentally friendly.
The Mills River, Sierra Nevada Brewery is the most modern, green and professionally operated food manufacturer I have ever visited. The "Beer Geek" tour (about 3 hours) had three members and two highly knowledgable guides that were extremely engaging on the process, beer chemistry and equipment. The tour was nicely apportioned between touring and tasting of beer production and extremely interesting and unique barrel aged beers from the Chico barrel facility. In conclusion, I would highly recommend taking the "Beer Geek" tour and explore this truly "World Class" facility.
Cheers
Brad
SN Mills River is an impressive and beautiful facility. A true destination brewery. The variety and quality of beer available in the taproom is excellent. We enjoyed the brewery tour, which is interesting for all levels of beer people, from the casual drinker to the geek/nerd.
The Beer Geek tour is without a doubt the best beer tour money can buy. The Sierra Nevada brewery is massive and truly impressive to walk through. Our tour guide was Bill, and he was very knowledgeable and enjoyable from start to finish. Highly recommend for any beer enthusiasts.
Awesome brewery and cool stuff learned while on the tour! Decided to head out there while visiting Asheville and didn’t regret it. Worth every penny. Our tour included a beer to start and then sampled 8 more at the end. We’ll be back again when in the area!
Beer geek tour is a great deal. Food is great I'm convinced sierra Nevada doesn't make a bad beer. If you have the time on your trip do the beer geek tour. Max out guide was awesome as well!
Really wish I could give more than 5 stars.. This place is AMAZING. we visited here last Saturday for our 1 year anniversary as a quick getaway. We had a blast. The whole place inside and out was very impressive. Both the beer and food was wonderful. The staff were all very friendly and had great recommendations for anything. Even though Sierra Nevada is one of my favorite breweries, they had some seasonal beers that I have never had before. We got lucky and got a tour that someone had previously cancelled on, so we got lucky there. I would highly recommend you make plans for those way in advance. The tour was 45 min and it was worth it for sure, next time I would like to try a longer one. We actually ended up staying for both lunch and dinner we enjoyed it so much. Great place for families and dogs too. The outside area in the back is beautiful, I cant wait to visit again in the summer. We WILL be back!
The beer is wonderful. I am gluten sensitive and I was able to drink some of their beer. The brewery is very clean. Family and dog friendly. The outdoor space is large. They have bands playing and there is a bocce court. There are multiple fireplaces and the restaurant serves really good tapas and other food to share. There are tours but if you are bringing children they must be 12 or older. Overall it is a wonderful day trip.
Make sure to check out the Tap Room after the tour
Sierra Nevada Brewery is a great place to visit. It is family friendly with lots of options for food and beer tasting. I highly recommend the tour - we took a 45 minute tour and learned a lot about the brewing process and history of Sierra Nevada.
Enjoyed the tour quite a bit. Learned quite a bit about the brewing process and company history. Tour guide was great. And tasting was also excellent.
Sierra Nevada, located just outside of Asheville, North Carolina is one amazing place. They offer daily tours of the brewery, giving details of how the beer is made and processed into what you buy in the store. They have three onsite stages, with live music on the weekends. During the warmer months, the outdoor stages are playing, with hundreds of people enjoying the scene. The area down by the river is an added bonus, with a bbq and beer truck providing the refreshments. The restaurant is awesome as well, with many offerings provided by local farms. The whole experience is second to none. Give them a visit.
The normal tour was great. Perfect amount of time, great guide, lots of information and opportunities to see operations. Groups are kept small which is great for questions and being able to see everything. At the end was a flight of four beers in the upstairs taproom. Many thanks to Ellie and Cara for the great tour and tasting!
We did the free tour and then stayed for lunch. The tour was awesome, and we learned a lot about the process and the company. The beers they had us sample were terrific. Everything about the facility was first rate. The restaurant was really, really good. I'm very glad we went. Just know the free tours book in advance, so you need to RSVP online. Some of the paid tours (like Beer Nerd) require that you register onsite the day of the tour but are only offered on weekends.
There is something here for everyone. I enjoy beer but by no means am I an expert. My boyfriend however has a vast knowledge of beers (he has been to over 200 breweries). To him, Sierra Nevada Brewery was the equivalent of Disney World. I loved the conservation efforts, scenery and friendly, attentive, knowledgeable staff. The website does not do this place justice. Wheather you are a single person, a couple, or a whole family you could easily spend a leisurely afternoon here. The attention to detail and taste is evident from the beautiful drive up to the brewery. There is a garden in the back with a small amphitheater, play area, and short hiking trail. We didn't make a reservation for a tour so we ended up just grabbing beer from the bar and taking a self guided tour were we saw the brewery room, cold hops storage and packaging area (so cool!) with plenty of nostalgic touches from the brewer's past along the way. After walking the grounds we built up an appetite so we went to the Taproom for a meal. The food is out of this world! We enjoyed the duck fries, empanadas, summer veggie pizza, and of course, pretzels with pimento cheese. Everything we experience on this visit was so much more than we expected. Don't second guess a visit to this brewery. Just do it!
Beautiful place and everyone is very friendly. Food was very good especially the wings-sesame flavor was amazing and the of course the variety of beer is wonderful something for everyone!
We didn't actually take the tour but we walked through on our own. We also ate and if course had beers.Their flight prices are great! This place is beautiful. We could've stayed for hours and hung out and drank beer.loved it and can't wait to go back.
Went to the brewery and Tap Room to eat. Was not disappointed. Resonably priced and great flavors. I had the pork chop with greens and apple compote with a jus. Awesome meal. I also had a couple beverages straight from the tap and it was great. The service was awesome and I plan on booking a tour next time I come into town.
Awesome place to visit and just enjoy the time with friends. We took the tour and it was very cool to be able to walk around and see everything.
Great tour. I don’t honestly care that much about how beer is made but it was very informative and not boring. We did the free tour and we got to see the production facility and where they store the hops etc. The tour you get a taste for of the beers and you get a pint glass! That was unexpected and very cool. You also get to see how they bottle and package things which is really interesting to see all the machines. Definitely recommend. Also there is a random Zoltar machine that I think deserves a mention.
Considering this was a complimentary Brewry Tour, it was nice! I learned little more about beer and making of it. Machines were not running when we were there, so disappointed to see that. Bottle packages were not working as well...We tasted 4 different kind of beer at the end of tour. The restaurant was good.
I do not know what is not to love about Sierra Nevada. This is my third time here, and each experience has been unique and just as amazing. The menu changes seasonally, as do the brews. So each time I go I find myself having a brand-new experience. This past time the owner and his son were there, and they were just chatting with the customers and enjoying a beer. The food, the beer, the tour, the gardens, all of it is extremely well done. It's known as the Disney Land for beer lovers for a reason.
Very impressed by this beautiful property. Nothing like I expected in the best way. The food was magnificent and beer growler options all the better! You must sit outside weather permitting and try the pear salad and duck fries! I couldn't get over how well kept and glorious this property was. A must visit! The tours were full for weeks but don't let that discourage you from going for a drink and a bite to eat.
Lovely location, great selection of quality beers, and an all-around entertaining and educational experience for the whole family. Food offerings were delicious and the outdoor amphitheatre with live band made for an enjoyable afternoon. Highly-recommended stop-over when in the Asheville area.
Had a great experience at this brewery! This is the first time I have ever experienced a brewery tour. I really enjoyed the presentation that Sierra Nevada had to offer. The tour guide was very knowledgeable on what he had to say and did a good job at showing us and explaining the entire process of how they make their beers. If you're looking for something to do for a first date or just to try some of their beers this is the place to go.
If you're a fan of Sierra Nevada, this is going to be a place for you to try. They will offer several beers that are in the experimental phase, that you cannot get anywhere else.
What an entrance. Recommend you planning a day of fun and beer making experience through their many tours. Family friendly and dog friendly too. Wear your walking / hiking clothes. A must see kind of place.
Love love love this place. So very beautiful. Very cool. Food was awesome. Several beers to choose from. Self walking tour of the brewery which is more like a museum.
This entire facility is pretty crazy. They have a massive taproom and restaurant on the south end. You can tour pretty much the whole place on your own (no guide necessary). Like 20 different beers on tap. It was raining when we visited, so we didn't get to explore outside.
We did the 90min tour and got a fairly thorough explanation of everything from the raw materials used through the individual steps of brewing all the way to the final products, rounded off with a tasting of eight delicious beers. The facility itself and the surroundings are breathtaking. Highly recommended!
This is the Malt Disney of breweries! Awesome place to come eat, drink some great beer, chill outside with live music and take a tour of a gorgeous brewery. Highly recommend.
I had a great time, the facility at mill river was breathtaking but still fell short of the service provided. I will make it a priority to come back next time I am in Charlotte l. My only regret is not living here so I can relax mill river sierra Nevada more.
Great guided tour and extensive tasting available for just making reservations. Self guided tour is available any time they're open. The brewing part of the building is a steampunk masterpiece of copper, riveted steel and wood reclaimed from the site.
Great tour! Great tour guide - Max!! Facility is beautiful. Several beers to taste at the end. Highly recommend the tour.
This place is amazing. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and the facilities are beautiful. I would recommend this place to anyone who has an interest in beer or manufacturing.
Absolutely stunning experience. We did a self guided tour with beer in hand. Architecturally, the brewery has incredibly smooth circulation, beautiful material decor, and good program organization to separate the workers and tourers without breaking the visual connection. Outdoor area is also beautiful and efficient. 100% worth the drive from Asheville if you are visiting.
The facility tour was amazing! Learning how Sierra Nevada goes above and beyond to recycle stored energy and even send the corn mash leftovers are sent to local farmers. We are Sierra Nevada fans!
Lots to enjoy. Easy to get to. Not as large as I thought it would be. Already loved their product, now I really like company, too! Would 100% go back.
Sierra Nevada is really cool. Beautiful grounds leading up to the brewery. Nice outdoor space with heaters for those cool North Carolina days. Amphitheatre with live music. We did the self guided tour and wondered around the brewery at our leisure. Very clean, automated facility. Nice beer selection. We didn't eat, but the food looked great. Check out SN when you're in Asheville, you won't be sorry!
One of the best places I have been to. This place is beautiful with great people, wonderful food, and the best beer ever. I can't wait to go back.
What a beautiful place! Mo made the tour fun and provided a lot of information about the process! Having some background about the beers and then trying them elevated the experience.
Loved this place. Didn't get a chance to eat but all of the beers were spot on and the tour was great.
We had a great time at the taproom upstairs during our family reunion in June, 2017. The taproom was very busy that Saturday afternoon ~ people were enjoying conversations, sipping the craft brews, eating great food and playing games of Corn Hole while the rains came down in blowing sheets outdoors.
This venue is amazing. Your choice... tours, beer, food, music, atmosphere!!! You will NOT be disappointed!!! Oh, children and pets welcomed...
Malt Disney World at its finest! Staff was incredible especially Tim our tour guide!! Food and beers are always solid!!
This place is like an adult Disneyland. Free music fantastic beers and a nature trail you can drink on. What more could you ask for
Absolutely beautiful property! As soon as you pull into the grounds it will make you feel like a kid in a candy store. Highly recommend dinner and a tour and dont forget to stop in the gift shop. Definitely a great place to stop at again and again
Beautiful facility indoors and outdoors. Not a big fan of their beer. Didn't eat but food looked fantastic.
Can't add much more than what's been said already and while I prefer the smaller craft beer breweries, SN is certainly worth a visit. It's great to see the investment they made in the area. Oh, I do think the "one drink person" law is strange when the line to get a beer is soooooooo long!
Everyone we encountered at the brewery, were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about Sierra Nevada brewery and it's products. The restaurant that is attached had a great atmosphere and even better service and food.
The walk in the woods tour was top notch. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the facility, but also the history of the area, the topography, local flora and the beer was great too.
Worth it!! I've toured breweries all over the US and very impressed with the sheer size and sustainable efforts of SN. Definitely fold in a tour when visiting.
The go to place for family, friends, beer, and unique sodas. Busy parking lot. Electric car charging in front and dog friendly, too.
Great tour, the taproom and employees were amazing, and the food was phenomenal
While I'm not a beer guy this was awesome. We were able to taste some great brew and grab lunch. Food was amazing. After lunch we took a self guided tour. Very nice.
We really enjoyed our tour of the facility at Mills River, NC. Our tour guide Gina was extremely knowledgeable. The facility is awesome as well as the beer. We’ll definitely be going back to visit.
An amazing building and beautiful area. The tour was pretty good and you do get to taste beer at the end. It's amazing how sustainable Sierra Nevada is! Their food there is also amazing.
Such an amazing brewery. I really appreciate what they are doing for the environment as well.
Spectacular facility! We took the guided tour yesterday. Danielle was such a wonderful guide. She was very knowledgeable about all facets of the brewery and Sierra Nevada history. We look forward to our next visit so that we can enjoy the outdoor patio.
Planning on going on the tour again. I'm a big beer geek and I was amazed about how well polished the tour was. You get plenty of samples and you even get to go into the hop room to check out the whole come hops SN is so famous for using.
Wow. Stopped here yesterday after a long car ride and was blown away. The huge outdoor area where the kids could run and play while we enjoyed a few beers was the perfect ending to a long day. This will become a regular stop every time we are in Asheville.
Amazing facility, tour guide was really good, plus 9 tastings. Even if you've been on lots of brewery tours this one of worth it.
The food was AMAZING!The outdoor recreational area was the perfect place for us to relax and enjoy our beers after a wonderful dining experience. Our bill was less than $40 for awesome wings, pretzels and dip,a fabulous roasted beet salad and two beers! The staff was friendly and very helpful.Wish I could take this place back to Missouri with us.
Great atmosphere, food, ppl, and beer. I couldn't believe the cleanliness. Great job Sierra Nevada
Mo was excellent! Loved getting to learn more about Sierra Nevada, tour the facility, and sample some great beers. Highly recommend!
Very interesting! Showed me a lot that goes into making their beers. Awesome place
Fun tour with plenty of information and samples. Tour guide was very friendly and enthusiastic.
I did the free walking tour. Well laid out with easy to find info on history and beer brewing on your own. Beautiful large facility with bar/restaurant and gift shop. Great for a rainy day distraction which is what I did
This facility and grounds are so unique that it is worth a visit even if you don't take a guided tour
Tour was great, informative and with a small group. Tasting room was nice and our tour guide was very knowledgeable.
Allen our tour guide was great! This was a great way to spend the day. Would definitely recommend.
Informative and interesting. 45min tour gives you a little bit of the history and the process. Spots out back to entertain kids
Came expecting to stay a couple hours stayed all day. Child and dog friendly. Food and beer both excellent. Highly recommend.
Toured the grounds and taste tested the beers, great educational experience. Even the kids enjoyed and learned a lot! Great beer and great food! Wonderful afternoon was spent at Sierra Nevada!
A must see if you are anywhere near Asheville. The facility, tour, gardens, food, and staff exceeded our expectations and made the day quite memorable.
I had lunch here with my family and some friends today. Very nice brewery, service was outstanding. The tables out back with the fire pits were also very nice. I would definitely visit this place again.
Took the tour for my 60th Birthday. Highly recommend the expierence.
Dp From Duncan
Very interesting and informative. Several varieties of samples during the tour. The taproom has good dishes to try.
On May the 21st we had a 2 pm reservation. We were traveling from Kernersville NC and we were running late. We called and the person we talked to was most helpful. She spoke to a supervisor and we were told to come anyways, that they would make it work. They made us feel welcome in spite of our being late. We really enjoyed the delicious food made from local, fresh ingredients and the customer service from our server, Michal was over the top! She made us feel special by having us eat dessert first because we were celebrating our anniversary. She also did a great job preparing a beer flight according to our individual tastes. We also enjoyed hanging out on the grounds after lunch and visiting the gift shop. It was our first time there and it was an amazing experience that started off our weekend celebration beautifully. Thank you!
One of the most informative beer tours I've ever been on. Well worth the time.
Tour was fun and informative. Tony was an excellent tour guide. Beer is delicious and there are lots of choices. Food was good.
Went for Lunch . Food and beer were great. Love this place
Great brewery, beautiful, east to do self tour. Great restaurant.
It's a fun and interesting tour of the brewery. I did the 45 minutes tour and it was well worth the $8 with tastings at the end.
The entire property is beautiful and amazing. We had a group of 20 visiting for a bachelor party. They were responsive and accommodating from the word go. The private tour with Allen was great. The facilities are beautiful. The full tasting was great. And then we got to spend a few hours exploring the grounds, listening to live music, and playing yard games down by the French Broad.
It is a must see. Great family friendly atmosphere. Back lawn area is great for listening to music or just hanging out with friends
I had only heard superb things before touring Sierra Nevada and also visiting the restaurant and taproom. The complimentary tour of the brewery with educational tasting at the end was an INCREDIBLE experience with great insight and is the right balance of guide and participant interaction. The beer is phenomenal and lives up to its reputation!
Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys craft beer.
Beer=Amazing! Food=Fantastic, especially the wings. Brewery=Beautiful open design, it's like Disney's Wilderness Lodge and the best Brewery in the world had a love child! I absolutely love the layout, the people are friendly, and the atmosphere is inviting. Great weekend trip. Highly recommend the Beer Geek Tour if you have the time!
Beautiful facility. The attention to detail and sustainability is amazing. My husband and I visited on a Friday afternoon and enjoyed some great beer. We returned the following morning for a tour and it was worth it! Our tour guide , Kara was great. We learned so much and tasted some great beers. Highly recommend.
Sign up for the beer tours…. All 3! This family owned beer Mecca is a rags to riches story packed full of sustainability measures. It is Disney of Beers for sure❤️
This place was INCREDIBLE!!! Super dog friendly, TONS to do, DELICIOUS food, and lots of great beer options! We were there an entire day and still didn't have time to do all the awesome things they have to offer! We did the Barrel tasting which was a really neat experience and had a blast exploring. Next time we definitely want to make time to go down to the river bar area! The place was so unique and so beautiful! We can't wait to go back!!!
All I can say is wow! Didn't realize how impressive this would be, and I was blown away. Absolutely a must do when in Asheville!
Quite remarkable facility that honestly, partly looks like the city of Oz. Fascinating with all they do to make the place sustainable; water catchment systems, more solar power than they can use. They have tour groups, self guided or with a tour guide. The restaurant is supposed to be awesome although we were a bit too early to try it out. Fantastic outdoor patio, live music, several bars throughout the place to try the beers . I would highly recommend to anyone that likes beer or just wants to take the tour. You could spend several hours there with a meal and such.
Our hike tour guide Ellie was a real treat! She exudes passion for her work and the company. The grounds are gorgeous and maintained very thoughtfully with the environment and the long-term future in mind. I’m not much of a beer drinker myself, but I was so impressed by Sierra Nevada that I wanted to find a flavor I enjoy, just to support the company from time to time. I highly recommend the tour!
Amazing brewery! The brewery sits on a beautiful piece of land that is very well taken care of. It’s next to the airport but you feel like you are deep in the woods when you drive through the gates. We took the complementary brewery tour and it was a great learning experience. We got to sample 4 beers at the end and they were all amazing. It’s a must if you’re in town.
I had a wonderful time during our tour on January 12, 2020. Kara was a great guide. It was a very nice and clean facility. I also learned a lot about how they make their beer. I would recommend it to lots of folks, but especially friends who enjoy Sierra Nevada beer or just beer in general.
This was such a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend the Beer Geek tour to anyone thinking about it. My husband and his friends had a lot of fun and the staff are fantastic. We have always liked Sierra Nevada just for walking around and enjoying their facility, but the tour was the cherry on top. Thank you Sierra for being so wonderful!
Gorgeous. Well planned, rolling estate, relaxed and inviting atmosphere, tasty/creative food....good beer!
Sean did the beer geek tour amazingly well! So much fun and so much great information! I don't know how he is able to remember all the details so well. And he shows an incredible amount of passion for what he does. This was my second tour at Sierra Nevada, and definitely my favorite. Can't wait to be back for another!
Not to mention everything else there is to do here. Kid friendly. Amazing food. Duck fat fries are a must. Walking trails, gardens, games. The outdoor space is incredible. And the high gravity bar is so much fun. You could spend an entire day here and not run out of things to do, or beer to try.
Highly recommend going on a tour at Sierra Nevada in Mills Creek. We chose the 45 minute free tour which was spectacular! Our tour guide, Alex, was friendly and knowledgeable. The tour ended with a generous tasting and souvenir. After the tour, be sure to stay and head to the taproom for awesome food (lots of vegan friendly options) and great beer.
Holy Toledo Batman. This is the Mecca of breweries. A must visit for anyone in the area
What a gem! Great beer, super tours and the good is fabulous. Highly recommend the signature beers that are only available there. If you like it i advice getting a growler or crowler to go. You may never see that beer again. Also very knowledgeable staff, bartenders and atmosphere is fantastic
The pretzel is crusty on the outside with a nice chew and the beer cheese is thick and luscious. Superb wings and a fab burger
Duck fries are phenomenal. Great prices. It's a must do if you're in the area.
This place is amazing! I’ve gone twice and was unable to wait to get in but I went early one weekend and had the best experience. The food was great and I love Sierra Nevada beer selection. My wife and I did a self guided tour around the facility but are looking forward to going back to do an official tour. Make sure to look at dates on their website for events and scheduling tour ahead of time!!
An absolutely beautiful building with a gorgeous interior too. They had corn hole and a great sitting area around the bar. It is almost impossible to get a tour of this place, you have to make a reservation over a month in advance. The self tour however was descent with plenty to look at. This Brewery would be more attractive and fun if the bar lines and wait were significantly shorter.
My husband and I went for a tour and lunch yesterday and it was absolutely perfect. Our tour guide was so informative AND interesting. He made me wish we could go out and drink (more) beer with him so I could learn more! 😆 Then lunch was phenomenal!! We shared the Torpedo flavored wings, the Farmhouse burger (added bacon-of course!) and the fries. Everything was delicious but the wings are NEXT LEVEL. Do yourself a favor and get the wings... then take another order “to go” because you’ll be craving them the rest of the day!
Great food, beautiful location and lovely atmosphere! Free live music outside on Saturdays, great family vibe.
We walked in 15 minutes before the next tour, and were able to join without a reservation. The guide was knowledgeable and enjoyed his job. The facility was incredible. The beer tastings we're a great finishing touch- we were able to try varities we normally would not. It was a great experience!
Great food, good bear, corn hole, what else could you ask for
So magical..like the Willy Wonka factory...a great place to bring the family kids included.
This brewery is spectacularly nice. The facility was is very much into recycling even built using many resources from the grounds. The restaurant is spacious serving small plate entrees and of course a large selection of beer. The store carries a surprising array of beer related goods as well as beer itself. The free tour is informative and the tasting was fun and an education itself.
Our guide, Kara, was super knowledgeable and friendly on the brewery tour. Learning piece by piece what makes Sierra Nevada beer unique was a really neat experience. We got to sample four awesome beers, then spent the afternoon on the patio with a few pints. Highly recommend to beer lovers, food lovers, dog-people, and families-- all are welcome here, for sure. :)
We had an amazing first visit and will definitely return. Our waitress was wonderful and helped us choose beer and food to pair. We had the pork belly, pretzel and bangers... all great choices and i wish we had room to try more. Finished our food, ordered a beer while we walked the grounds and gift shop waiting for our 45 minute tour...the grounds are beautiful and we picked up some socks and a shirt from the gift shop. Everyone is so friendly and helpful including tour check in staff. Our tour guide (forgot his name!)...super knowledgeable, funny and incredibly personable. Loved tasting the different styles at the end including the mobile “kiosk” tasting with the summer and haze...that guy was great too. Super impressed with the entire visit and really love how tied to the environment the entire grounds are planned for. Will definitely visit again with friends and family. This was a perfect stop for my wife and i’s 20th anniversary.
This is a beutifull and much larger brewery than expected. The tour was very informative I never realized how many brands Sierra Nevada has. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the product. We stopped in the attached restaurant for a couple pints, delicious eats and another eye pleasing experience. Definitely recommend this for every one
Enjoyable tour, great food and lots of beer choices.
Truly one of the best destinations you could hope for as a craft enthusiast. The location is beautiful and well maintained. From the seating process in the restaurant all the way to the self-guided tour's path, Sierra Nevada has taken every step to making sure that the visit is enjoyable. The food is amazing (and not pub food at all), the beer is delicious and the staff is friendly and accommodating. I couldn't recommend this place enough.
Our tour guide, CJ, was very knowledgeable and witty. Really enjoyed his personality. The facility is beautiful. Restrooms were extremely clean. The restaurant food was good and service was excellent. We really enjoyed sitting by the outdoor fire pit with a beer.
Great time at SN Asheville. We had a great self tour. Lunch and Beers were exceptional. The food was unexpectedly good. Our bartender was Corina and she was great! I mean really enjoyed chatting with her. She was very helpful. The grounds/campus was amazing. I can't wait to one back for music.
We were blown away by this place on our recent trip to Asheville. The facility itself is outstanding - there’s a huge outdoor space with lawn games, a concert amphitheater, even an organic veggie garden! Multiple service bars and food options keep the party going without long wait times, and the scenery of the venue is second to none. Book the free brewery tour if you have time - we were really impressed with the quality of the tour and the four (!!) beer samples at the end! We loved this place and can not wait to come back!
The tour is a must and Michael was very friendly. Caitlin in the restaurant was really nice and great at her job. The Waco ham and apple pizza is my favorite only to find out it’s getting 86’d from the menu. This place is a great place to go solo, with coworkers, friends or family. Will be back.
We went on the Tour Through the Woods and it was the best tour I have been on yet! Kara, our guide, was very informative and was sure to give us tid bits of information throughout our hike. She was able to answer any questions that we had and waited for the group to catch up before talking. She had a very lively personality that kept you interested in what she was saying. The beer was amazing at the end and she gave us different information on each of the beers we tried and kept it short and sweet to prevent us from posing interest. Would for sure do again
What an amazing location! This site is absolutely gorgeous, from the tap room to the outside seating area. We had a fantastic lunch with the House Pizza and Pretzels & Pimento Beer Cheese which was out of this world!! We had some beer flights with the very helpful Frank assisting us in picking flavors and answering questions about the area. Thank you for a great visit!
Wonderful food, the best beers, knowledgeable servers and breathtaking views. A trip to Sierra Nevada is a treat for all your senses. Take your time and make a day trip out of it. Vegetarian options are wonderful... But carnivores will be very happy here too! Please note the beer menu has 2 sides. One side is beer you can find out and about (like in the grocery store). The other side has beers you can only find on site (better get a growler for home). Then there are more beers on the board by the bar! Don't be shy, ask questions and request samples. Settle in with a flight of beers or a half pint of something new. Walk the grounds, relax on the porch by the fire and pet a dog. Yes, dog friendly outside, service dogs only inside.
Our tour was very informative and we were most impressed at the environmental care that is given in every facet of the business. The Tap Room restaurant is excellent. The food is outstanding, a real treat and of course the beers are wonderful.
Amazing location - like driving into Jurassic Park. Great beer, but super nice to see whole families there just relaxing. What brewery thinks to build a play area for kids? Worth the drive if you're traveling. Staff was helpful (inside and outside) and seemed happy just to be there. 10/10 would come back - it's magical.
What a lovely and inviting establishment. While driving up the driveway you get this feeling that they really care about the surrounding area. It was even apparent in how the staff was working together and were pleasant in their interactions during a super busy time. We took the tour and I am looking forward to writing a story on what a well thought out design they have incorporated into the building, in the beer and with their employees. Well done Sierra Nevada well done!
This place was awesome. Very clean and we'll kept. The ability to self tour was great. The restaurant was very nice and food was good. Is a 'snack' menu. Lots of beer choices. From what I understand they have live music in the summer.
It's like the Biltmore for beer. Very big and open with a huge outdoor area to sit, relax, and drink beer. The tour is really cool too. Free beer with science and history mixed in. You have to make reservations to do it. Parking is great too but it fills up fast! Overall super experience and really happy I could do it!
Live music. Great beer. Very relaxed atmosphere!
Best beer tour and brewery in Asheville. Well worth the small drive to get there. Awesome food and even better beer. It's almost as if the beer is poured from the line, it's so fresh. The backyard hangout is beautiful. I was surprised by not only the size but the amount of things to do. There's an amphitheater back there! The atmosphere is chill vibes and good times! Definitely a must do for anyone remotely into beer or food. Family friendly and oriented.
Wonderful food. Great Beer. Building is beautiful. Service fabulous. Only problem....handicap person was seated in the very back dining area. Lots of open seating closer to front/ bar. Long way to walk for restrooms. Hostess needs to recognize customers disability. Overall great lunch & beer.
I sat on the back porch on a Monday night and had the white wine. The atmosphere was wonderful. Very relaxing. It was pet friendly and even had a small play area for kids.
Customer Service was very good. Both Bartenders I interacted with were very nice. All things considered it was a wonderful experience.
Having watched the Original Brewery being built I still have a soft spot for it. This one though is incredible. Larger with furnishings built from wood cut to clear the property for the brewery. The best brewery and tour I have ever experienced but for me the original will always be the best if only in my mind.
Very Interesting and a beautiful setting and facility!
Sierra Nevada Brewing is a unbelievable, amazing facility. I took the 45-minute tour for free and receive four samples of their beers. I liked the beer garden out back in the stage for live music. And it's convenient that there's a restroom outside also. I want to come back during the week while the Brewing is going on. I went on Mother's Day and there is no production going on.
Sierra Nevada was a fun experience from the tour to the tastings to dining in the Tap Room to exploring the public grounds. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but I really like the beer they produce. The ones I tried had a very fresh, smooth flavor. They put a lot of effort into producing a good product.
This is a beautiful place! We bring all our guests here. The tour is wonderful and everyone should do this. We love sitting outside in the Beer Garden. Lots of variety on the food menu and of course so many choices of beer. Such a wonderful atmosphere here, a Happy Place!
This is my second time doing the tour. Absolutely a must for people who haven't done the tour or even been to the restaurant. Everyone is super friendly and the gift store is fantastic. Will go there just to eat lunch again.
We are new to craft beer tours, but we were extremely pleased when we ventured here for the day. Music, food, and good people - great day. We planned to do the self guided tour, but were pleased to be able to sign up as standby and get lucky to fill in a cancellation to enjoy the beer sample tour. Jamie was our guide, and was fantastic and kept our interest with witty beer humor - did a great job educating us with lots of details. Lots of samples at the end really helped show their talents in brew making. Thanks - a new fan of your craft and brew art.
The Sierra Nevada brewery tour is a must do for anyone visiting the area with even a slight interest in beer. The facility is beautiful, the tour guides are excellent and the beers are sooooo tasty! Even more important though is the way they treat the environment and their community. They are a platinum certified green energy facility and they are also a zero waste company who supplies protein-rich, spent grains to nearby farmers for feed and recaptures rain water for use in-house (among many other examples). They even invite other craft beer creators to use their extensive laboratory facilities. This place has really won me over as a company with heart and soul (oh, and AWESOME BEER and food!) Do yourself a favor and visit for a free tour (make a reservation in advance though!).
Great restaurant. Food was fantastic and beer selection was equally impressive. We ate there two days in a row.
Since it was founded in 1980, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company has become one of the country’s most popular breweries.
Though it started small, it’s now among the top ten largest brewers by volume in the US, and it all got started in Chico.
Known for their bold flavors and top-notch ingredients, Sierra Nevada’s beers come in nearly all colors and flavor profiles. There’s no better way to see how they’re made and sample them than by hooking up with a guided brewery tour.
A number of tour options of varying lengths are available, and tastings may include beers that haven’t yet been released to the public.
I have been to 30+ breweries (not a ton I know) and this one is the coolest by a long shot. Obviously they have a ton on money due to the size, which makes this location incredible. Sign up for the tour even if it's on a wait, my group of two were able to make it on the tour from the waiting list, and it was awesome. You might think once you have been on one brew tour you have seen them all. But I encourage you to go on this one. At the end you taste around 8 beers, and some you can't taste anywhere but the tasting room. Awesome experience, a must if you are visiting Asheville.
Tour was great- it's like the Willy Wonka factory of beer. Best of all, the tour was free and you get a good amount of beer tastes and a free glass at the end. I recommend making reservations for the tour, but you can always put your name on a wait list and a lot of times people don't show up!
Absolutely loved it!! I've visited several breweries before, but never in North Carolina. The atmosphere was great, food was fitting for the venue and if you can't find a beer to your liking, then you're not really a beer drinker. Don't look for cider, they don't have any. I will be back.
The Heritage Tour was outstanding; our guide was a great speaker and so very knowledgeable! We were super impressed with all that we learned about Sierra Nevada, their products and the ways that they support the community and our environment. We have become real fans!
Such a fun experience and the entire campus is beautiful!
Excellent tour and impressive facility!
I didn't take the tour, but I did eat in the restaurant. The food is to die for! The pretzels and cheese and the duck fat fries are my favorite, but the veal meatballs and the house pizza are delicious as well. The zervice was great! I did walk around their garden a bit and it's just lovely! Can't wait to go back!
Fun and informative guided tour, taproom had amazing food and overall impressed with sustainability efforts. One of our favorites! We will be back and have already recommended to friends and family.
One of the best tours of this type I've been on in my 75 years! The entire process is fascinating; the company is environmentally proactive in EVERY way; and our tour guide, Alex, was obviously proud of his work and devoted to this progressive company. AND, the beer is the best!!!
Took the guided tour with a visiting relative. Tour guide was very informative and knew his subject. There was a tasting and we subsequently adjourned to the Taproom where my companion sampled a few more beers. Excellent hamburgers and, of course, pretzels & beer cheese.
Great fun. Met several interesting folks and had some good beer. Food...only a C+.
This is an interesting brewery. A large selection of regular and rotating/seasonal taps paired with outdoor gardens and trails, a stage and small lawn amphitheater, and a casual, but somewhat upscale restaurant. The self guided tour is lacking in detail. I'd love to have seen informational plaques about the brewing process, as well as some videos of the factory in action.
This place set a high bar for our beer trip. I am usually not a fan of SN in bottles but everything we had here on draft was great. Not to mention the food and atmosphere. The brewery grounds were amazing. Great place!
We had a very interesting tour of Sierra Nevada brewery. Our guide was really well-prepared for all information concerning the brewery. He was easy to follow and had clear pronunciation and loud enough for all to hear. Good job!
My wife and I signed up to do the guided tour. You can do an unguided tour but you don't get all of the information that you get with the guide. Also, the guided tour offers you a taste testing opportunity to try some of the brews that are made there. There is an elevator there for those who cannot climb steps to the 2nd floor for that part of the tour. It's amazing, that for how big the plant is and how much product that is produced there as well as how many people are employed there, that this facility is so clean. After the tour, we went to the taproom to have lunch. The menu is quite varied and offers everything from appetizers, to sandwiches to dinner and desert along with the large array of beverages both alcoholic and non. We lastly stopped in at the gift shop after we ate to see what it had inside. Nice assortment of gifts ranging from clothing, to handy items, to souvenirs and even beers for sale by six pack that you can buy of one type or mix to try different styles. There are areas outside of the plant that offer a bar and eating area. That has a different menu than the taproom menu. There is bocce ball courts, bag toss areas and restrooms outside as well as gardens, where they grow their own produce to use in their menus. There is a bandstand outside too where they have live entertainment every weekend all throughout the summer months. The ride in and out of the place takes you along a scenic two lane windy road. Very impressive overall. A great place to visit and bring visitors to. We most certainly will be back.
The Sierra Nevada brewery tour was educational and fun! I loved the hands-on experience of playing with the dried hops and of seeing the packaging process in action was great. I highly recommend taking the tour and making a day out of your visit to the Brewery!
The Sierra Nevada facility is much larger than what I envisioned. They gave us a detailed tour of the factory, let us sample four of their beers and let us have a complimentary glass. The basic tour is free but they have more involved ones for a fee. The restaurant has great food...just know it's somewhat pricey.
Visited Sierra Nevada with my siblings, and we should have allowed more time to explore this awesome establishment. The evening hours meant it was extremely busy, and showed no sign of slowing down. So, my advice would be to make an afternoon excursion....and spend some time...take a tour!
Totally a first class experience. The $15 tour was worth twice that amount. The Taproom is always busy but the service and quality never suffer. Early evening is the best time to sit around the fire. Highly recommend that you include this in your Asheville trip.
The grounds, the beer, the tour, the story blew us all out of the water!
What a great tour. Great food and the beer. Great day!
We had a great time at Sierra Nevada. I wish it weren't so popular so that we could have sat inside, or so that people weren't fighting over our table when we were finishing up. It kind of took away from the experience. The beers, as all should already know, are delicious, and the food is great too.
5 miles from house. Love hoppy high test beer. Tours are good. try the free tour first and than pay for others if like enough. Store has high test and odd beer styles some can get local for cheaper. Restaurant fair price good food. Glad its close. Most stuff says in fletcher not mills river. Makes me happy
We did he heritage tour and really enjoyed it. Started by enjoying the iconic Pale Ale and finished with a whole range of tastings. Really enjoyed leart about all of the sustainable features within the brewery and brewing process.
Our tour guide, Ellie, did a great job! She was very engaging and full of information! We enjoyed learning about the history of Sierra Nevada as well as being able to try some beer samples.
Everything is done well. The bottling plant is state of the art and can be seen from the glassed in corridor. Leading to the viewing areas is a corridor that serves as a museum of sorts. The restaurant and grounds are worth a side trip in itself. Arrive early on Fridays and Saturdays, the popularity has resulted in large weekend crowds.
Such an incredible place! Great beer, friendly people, amazing facility, tour was fun & educational. Love that it’s LEED certified & sustainable, too. Very inviting experience for all visitors!
Good beer and food but their food was "shareable" so portion size was way too small compared to price. We wound up ordering three full priced items off their menu just to not feel hungry. Then we went to the bottle shop and they only had their flagship beers and barrel aged beers available for sale. This was a let down since I had tried three amazing seasonals that I wished to purchase.
Great chance to see how they brew the amazing beers. Hugh tap room and a gift shop. Even without the guided tour you can follow a self guided tour and learn a lot of the history of brewing. Solar panels in the car park, superb cycle facilities.
I participated in a virtual tour experience with a group of friends. While I would have preferred in person, that is not possible right now and the staff pulled it off brilliantly. Beer, glasses, t-shirt and journal were all shipped to our house.
Heritage tour was fantastic. Josh is very knowledgeable and had answers for every question. We loved that we were able to interact with the hops directly and that we were able to sample so many beers.
Additionally the food from the restaurant was incredible.
If you enjoy beer at all this is so much fun.
A must visit if youre in the area. Food os amazing and no expense was spared on the development of the brewery or grounds.
My husband and brother-in-law took the tour and were very impressed with the facility and staff. The facility was beautiful, well maintained, and eco-friendly. The staff (C.J. and Shaun) were very knowledgeable about hops beer, answered questions, talked about processes, etc. Great tour!
Great beer that is made fresh on-site. Good food, and a very clean facility. Paying for a tour was worth it ( I was reluctant at first), polite staff, and beautiful grounds made coming here a wonderful experience
Excellent self guided touring. Great atmosphere and beer!
Food was excellent, great indoor and outdoor space and a large selections of beer. It's the nicest brewery in Western North Carolina by far, facility wise. Excellent service too; not pretentious.
Staff was very friendly. Our tour guide, Mason, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the beer making process. Beautiful campus and the food in the Taproom was delicious!
Neat place but the beer is expensive and samples are small. Wanted a growler but it was $12 for a growler and $12 to fill it. Tour tickets are impossible to get but you can tour yourself. Also noticed the food portions were small so we ate at the Circle B Ranch BBQ instead.
The ambiance in the back is great for a relaxed evening. Beer choices are wonderful. Food (although a limited menu) is yummy. We had a great two evenings there. Blake’s (server) we’re spot on.
Strongly recommend touring the Sierra Nevada facility at Mills River NC. Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of Sierra Nevada Beer and beer in general for that matter. Also enjoyed the gift shop and dining experience in their restaurant.
Gorgeous place to visit. Good food ans beer. Amazing atmosphere, live music and top quality furnishings everywhere you look. Impressive and worth the trip.
Visited the taproom and concert venue/stage area for a relaxing afternoon away from Charlotte. An all around great experience for our entire party. Beer and food was great, atmosphere cant be beat. We will definately return.
Amazing food, great beer selection, in a spectacular setting.
This place is gorgeous! And it's so huge. The food was pricey, but delicious. Beer selection was amazing. Surprisingly, this is a great place for families as well.
Did the self guided tour and visited the taproom.
A truly remarkable brewery and dining venue. If you want to enjoy great food and beer, in an amazing atmosphere, you have to try the Sierra Nevada Brewery, just south ofvAsheville, near the Asheville Airport. The architecture is exquisitely crafted, within the "green" movement and utilization of our natural resourses, using a rainwater harvesting system along with solar power. My favorite seasonal beer being served right now us "Summerfest!" It's appropriate for the name given and for this time of year. Before you go, check their special events schedule, you may want to participate in one if their many outdoor concerts and music festivals. This place is very special. It's not your typical brewery, where they make their beer in an off room, but instead, they have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars, making brewing beer their focus. The staff are professional, efficient and friendly. You will enjoy yourself so much, you will want to spend several hours there. So call a few of your closest friends and make an afternoon or evening of it. Sierra Nevada Brewery will be the highlight of your week!
Well worth a visit to this incredible facility. Sierra Nevada is making a statement with this impeccable location that they are serious about beer. Everything inside is very well taken care of. Our tour guide Allen was phenomenal as well!
Sierra Nevada Brewery is a destination that needs to be visited. The whole experience is great, from the grounds, to the brewery, the staff is friendly and helpful, the restaurant had great ambiance and the food is exceptional. We plan on going back in the fall!
World class experience from the tour guide, to the facility to the beer and tap room!
The Sierra Nevada complex is beautiful. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and good humored, and at the end, we shared several samples of their beers on tap. Best part - the basic tour was free.
Man, this place is massive. I'm not usually one for big expansive watering holes with tons of people, but Sierra Nevada was jammin'! Tons of beers to choose from with solid food selections to boot. The band playing at the lawn ampitheatre were amazing and grooving hard. This is a beautiful place and a good stop to enjoy some outdoor fun amongst friends with brew in hand.
Enjoyed the tour immensely - did not know what to expect going in. The facility is beautiful and our tour guide Julia was hilarious. Learned a lot about sustainability too.
GREAT tour and guide! Well worth tour fee. You will learn something you didn't already know about brewing and the history of brewing. Lots of samples and a free SNBC glass👍🍺 My favorite the new Gose is Otra Vez🍈! Plan a day here, dining, shopping, outdoor games and outdoor music venue with terraced lawn. …
We took the $12 tour and it was well worth it. The tour was 1.5 hours. Inspiring story, amazing facility, beer tasting and souvenir glass. We stayed and enjoyed the beautiful setting and music.
Amazing tour and plenty of samples of their product. Very informative and very nice
First visit to the Sierra Nevada Brewery. We were very impressed by the site, brewery and restaurant. The food and craft beers were very good. Both are worth any effort to come to Sierra Nevada. Do plan to visit them soon.
Last week we had the opportunity to tour the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company. Our tour guide, Alex was extremely knowledgeable about the brewing process and all the sustainable practices Sierra Nevada uses. He explained to us the differences between the various Hopps and how they impact the taste of the beer. It was so interesting to see all that went into making the delicious Sierra Nevada beer that we all know and love. After the tour we got to order beers of our choice at their in-house bar. Our group was huge fans of their new kombucha! The outside sitting area was lovely, we enjoyed the cozy firepit areas and playing corn hole while we sipped our beers!
Great place to go and wait for your flight out of Asheville Airport. There is a self guided tour for free, which you can bring your beer(s) on, and a nice outdoor space with a large fire pit. If you're in the area it's absolutely worth it.
Such a great brewery, the tour was awesome. Great food and beer!
Yes a must do. Beautiful grounds . Games and activities in the gardens. Food was good. Especially for kids. Lots of interesting beers. Seeing the production lines and packing was really cool.
Fun day at a new venue. Great beer! Great tours (highly recommend) delish food in the restaurant. Great service! Great back porch and band. Busy place... plan accordingly !
County liquor laws hamper the establishment by limiting 1 beer at a time, doesn't seem like a big deal until you want to try several and the line is a 30 minute wait. Overall I enjoyed the visit, the landscape and building are beautiful, there are plenty of activities and the staff was friendly
Awesome place! Good food, except DO NOT try the carbonara pasta. They were horrible. But all other food was delicious to include the food. You must try the soy glazed wings. The best wings I have ever had.
Visited on July 3rd and it was jammed with people...yet the service was excellent as well as the food and beer. The sample beer flights are well priced and the selection is awesome. The amenities and activities of interest make this a great place to visit over and over again.
First time I visited Asheville I went here. I would go every time TBH. The restaurant was one of the best meals I've ever had. Tour guide was awesome. Ginger bearded fellow (this was Aug '17).
The beer is better than anything I've had in a bottle by Sierra Nevada. They have a few beers that you can't find anywhere else and they were fantastic.
The food was the best food I've had in a very long time and was by far the best I've ever had at a brewery.
This brewery far surpassed our expectations.
Amazing brewery with fantastic beer, food and atmosphere. Large patio and garden area with lawn games and places to relax and enjoy a beer. The tour was one of the best I've been on.
This place is sweeeeeeet! The tour was fun and concise and our guide was fun and had all the puns you could hope for. Every inch of the place is beautiful from the obsidian floors and copper kettle in the brew room to the solar panel "trees" in the parking lot to the hop lanterns along the drive in. I am in love with the fact that sustainability is on the top of their list and that they open their labs and sciency stuff to smaller breweries so they can improve and test their brews. Got a pack of 3 different beer mustards in the gift shop then a beer flight to enjoy on the expansive back patio. There was a huge fire pit, cirnhole, bocce, rocking chairs, picnic tables and I kids play area. Could've stayed out there forever but we were craving a few menu items we read about. Inside the taproom we had duckfat fries with a raspberry ale mustard that I will dream about. Duck confit, hot sauce aioli, perfectly cooked fries - damn. Bison steak flavors were great but the steak itself was a lil tough. Could've kicked the kimchi puree off the plate. Could have done without the ham and swiss. We would totally come back it we had time!
The best tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The brewery is amazing. The history is so interesting. Highly recommend!
The Beer Geek tour at Sierra Nevada’s Mills River location is a very enjoyable experience for anyone wanting a behind-the-scenes look at a first-class brewery. Not only do you get a better understanding of every step of their brewing process, but learn how they conserve and recycle their resources to make their product even better. Getting to sample many of their experimental and unreleased beers made it truly unique.
What an amazing place! The beautiful is just spectacular. I'd go back there just to look at all the architectural details again. The beer is amazing and it's all in the mountains, what could be better!
My food was very good and my husband had beer that he loved.....now the but. Ladies restroom was filthy, tissue all over the floor....no excuse for that. Too many employees work here . I have been to the Sierra Nevada which is far superior.
Our tour guide Michael was excellent. He was knowledgeable and enthusiastic without ever crossing over into smarmy. I'll definitely go back to the brewery.
Went for the first time and the beer is great but also found out how great the food is. My wife cant wait to go back because of how cool this place is. The wings and fries are amazing.
Sierra Nevada Brewery is a great place for the whole family. In addition to the great beer, terrific food, and the beautiful job they have done with the entire setting, behind the building is a garden and places for little and big kids to have fun.
If in Asheville, you have to go to visit this Brewery. The tour I took was the Heritage tour and was not only an excellent explanation of the brewing process but a historical look at how Mr Grossman persevered back in the 80’s to pursue his beer making dreams. His recipes are outstanding and you will not be disappointed.
Newly built brewery more than twice as big as the one on the West coast in Chico California has beautiful surroundings including a huge amphitheater with different outside games that can be played, like bocci ball and bean bag toss. The Tap room is huge! More than triple the size of the Sierra Nevada brewery in Chico with ample seating both inside and outside for your dining pleasure.
All in all it's truly the best example of a modern brewery I've ever seen.
AMAZING EXPERIENCE! Just went for lunch and couldn't get on the tour. Still well worth the over an hour drive. Food was AMAZING!!! Great things at a fair price in the gift shop too.
Great place and good beer. Hangout on the back porch by the amphitheatre. Bring your own chair. Only pain in the a-- is the North Carolina law about one drink per person which means you can't even carry two beers at once... really! Right up there with the transgender law...stupid.
There's a reason they call this place Malt Disney World. It's an incredibly beautiful place to grab a beer, eat some food, listen to music, take an incredibly educational tour, let the kids play, or play some bocce/cornhole. They pretty much have everything you'd ever want here. I can't recommend visiting enough.
Lots of breweries offer tours of their facilities. Sierra Nevada's tour is one you should definitely consider. There's free beer at the end!!
I have been to this very fun brewery many times and I enjoy it every time as if it was my first time there. The grounds are beautiful and the brewery and tours are very informative.
Pretzels, duck fat fries, and hot chicken wings are amazing. Love their beer selection and they have a very attentive/friendly staff. Highly recommend!
Great tour, good food and a beautiful setting. Their story is fascinating, even if you aren’t a beer lover it is worth the experience!
Beer and food were good.
Awesome place for the kids to run around in the backyard.
They serve SMALL plates at dinner which is fine but still charge full plate prices.
Staff is great.
Love the restaurant, self-guided tour, concerts, outdoor pavilion and more. Lovely surroundings and friendly staff. You have to get outside out back and sit in a big chair and soak up the views.
Go on a weekday. It's not as crowded. Great tour and company.
The guided tour was both educational and entertaining. Food was delicious. It was fun to taste the different brews at the end of the tour. The venue was beautiful, relaxing, and fun.
Enjoyed everything about this place. The tour guide Sean, was informative and entertaining. The restaurant was great! Service and food were outstanding! Beautiful scenery as well.
The hands on guided tasting tour is great, and the food at the restaurant is fantastic. This is definitely worth a visit. Make sure to reserve your tour ahead of time.
Awesome brewery with tours, and self directed tours in which you can carry your beer around with you. Very large operation with lots to see and a decent selection of unique foods that are served ready to share.
This place was actually a surprise for me. It’s huge with various connected outdoor areas, beer gardens and fun events. I was pleasantly surprised that we could take a walk through the forest to a quiet picnic area
The best thing in Western NC. Large selection of beer. The food was delicious. The wings are probably the best wings I've ever had. A definite stop for anyone visiting WNC.
Very fun and informative tours. Our tour guide Amanda was funny and engaging. The food was delicious and creative. And the beer....OMG. heaven. A must go ......
Outstanding food! Great Beer selection when open. Unfortunately they are only open for growler and takeout food right now but still amazing.
I you like beer an you are in the Asheville area don't miss the Sierra Nevada Tours Brewery. Even if you don't drink the stop is worth the time. Take the tour. Enjoy a meal with family and friends.
Fantastic, do not miss this place when here. Did the walk in the woods your with Kelly and it was great. Best finish to a beer tour ever. Beers in the picnic grove
Lunch at the Sierra Nevada Tap Room was outstanding. The food and service are excellent. The ambience is also great. Loved the tour!!
Incredible facility. The largest and most elaborate brewery I have seen. Large outside dog friendly spaces with games as well. Great food and, of course, beer.
My husband and I love this place! We visit a couple times a year. We love the atmosphere, the food and all the beer selections they have. Great place to visit!
Great facility and beautiful grounds the beer was excellent. Highly recommend taking one of the tours and making this a must see when you visit the area
Awesome tour and awesome facility. Next time we're in the area I'll definitely book one of the longer paid tours. Well worth the experience!!
Beautiful place...The Biltmore House of breweries and our tour guide, Alex, was awesome! Great beer and a very comfortable and welcoming place to hang out and drink beer. Love it!!!
Great combination of interesting and entertaining tour, beer, food, and dedicated employees. I've toured several breweries, large and small, and none compare to Sierra Nevada's North Carolina facility.
Awesome place to visit! Great beer and food plus an amazing view all around. I have always had a great time there.
Fun good food and a buzzy atmosphere on a June Saturday evening. Lots of stuff happening. We had a 1 hour wait for a table, but it was not hard to wait, have a beer and a look around
Massive estate with plenty of parking, plenty of room to move around, plenty of good beers flowing, and an expensive but amazing restaurant. Plan to make a day of your trip here.. at least a whole afternoon, or long evening.
Very impressive brewery. Nice self walkthrough on the tour, felt like a museum. Great food and fresh beer at the tasting room/bar area.
Absolutely gorgeous facility with surprisingly good food in the taproom. Tour was definitely worth the time!
The Mecca of beer. Spectacular building and grounds. Food is excellent, innovative, and served quickly. Concept is built around sharable plates. Beer on tap is usually their in-store staples with 10 or so rotating taps.
Always fun and free but do not plan on a meal there.... you get appetizers, that are very expensive and not plentiful. The beer and tours are the best though
Not just great beers, but a fantastic place to hang out and enjoy the beer.
The staff, the backyard area, the tour, the food all 5 star quality.
Really enjoy the food, and the drinks. Always seem to have quality guests. Completely smoke free and vape free property. Also enjoy the tour.
One of the most amazing breweries I've ever toured, tour guides are hysterical and so much fun. I love their facility, very green and truly a wonderful company
Amazing. Tour is great and interesting (not boring at all). Walk the grounds while drinking a beer and then have some delicious food at the tap room.
Enjoyed our visit tremendously!! Tour Guide was excellent, very knowledgable & personable! We can’t wait to go back!! A beautiful place!
Amazing experience. Very informative on the process of brewing beer and the company as a whole. The facility is gorgeous, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
The ambiance is amazing, food was really good. Of course great beer always on tap!!!
This is the Biltmore of Breweries! From the lengthy, winding, forested driveway to the log-cabin atmosphere, you'll love this gargantuan building and everything it has to offer: great food and beer, obviously, but also fire pits, trails, vegetable gardens and even a stage out back for live music.
While they tend to focus on hop heavy beer which may no be to everyone's liking, the environment, food, service, and beer are top notch. Great place for a dinner date or meeting up with friends!
It's like Disneyland for beer. Lots of history and plenty of places to play games or relax. Beautiful setting in the mountains of NC. The restaurant was incredible. I just wish I liked the beer more...
This is Disney meets craft beer. Amazing experience and 5 star food. A must see. You will not be disappointed. Family and dog friendly
I highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys great beer and food it’s unforgettable
It's was ok, beer was good.. The wings could be bigger, you pay $14 for wings & they small like little frog legs!!!
The tour was amazing and our tour guide was very enthusiastic about the company and the product. The tour was extremely informative and well run. I would highly recommend any tour at Sierra Nevada!
The Beer Geek Tour was amazing!
It's wonderful to see the things that have and are being done to protect our environment. Sierra Nevada is a positive influence on the entire area. Additionally, the beer is wonderful!
Brewery tour is awesome. Alex was our guide and we were so impressed! The atmosphere is fantastic and we did not want to leave!
One of the best places on earth if you love beer
Amazing! Tours are really cool and informative, Beer is great and if you wanna try a beer thats not out then they have those on tap, and the food is fantastic.

Incredible experience and our tour guide Alex was awesome! The beer speaks for itself and the food at the taproom was delicious.
Simply the most amazing beer facility in the world.
Such a great place for a beer tour they had a great menu for sandwiches hot and cold and a nice patio out back great service love this area it is worse a visit if you are in the area.
Impressive giant brewery with a variety of excellent ales and beers. Large restaurant with eclectic menu and good food. Guided and self tours. I'll be back to refill my growler.
Had a blast at the Octoberfest. There is room for improvement though. Long wait to get in. Beer was awesome as well as the entertainment. Some of the food was under cooked and tough.
Highly recommend taking advantage of this complimentary tour. It walks you through the entire process, gets your hands on some hops and a beer tasting at the end. Totally worth taking advantage of!
Very large property. Lots of options for eating, drinking, hanging out.
I love this brewery. The grounds are incredible, the staff beyond engaging and the beer (of course) is without question. I want to move in here!!!
Heritage tour - Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
What a lovely tour! Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Informative tour and generous tasting. Will be back!
Incredible brewery, knowledgeable staff, delicious food, and the beer is as good as it gets
Highly recommend!! Exceptional service from Frank here. We were here on St Pattys Day with a large group for a bachelorette party and Frank’s service and attentiveness to our group was above and beyond!
Excellent! Beautiful facility and the tour is well worth the having to sign up ahead of time. Don't miss the taproom!
SN took a really good item (Ginger soy chicken wings) and changed it to a wing with no taste. Why? Why not serve both? You kept the hot wings .... we won’t be back until the ginger soy wings are back.
We we're just there last week and I found my new favorite - Hazy Little Thing! Came back home to Sarasota, FL and found it here! I'm so excited! Mad Moe's is carrying it - you guys rock!
Amazing set up between the production facility and the restaurant. Great outdoor area with games and comfortable seating. Really good food. Worth a visit.
Amazing food and beer. Great ambience. If you want a tour book at least a month in advance. Start with a beer flight to taste several at once
What a fantastic experience!! A must do when in Asheville NC!! Very nice staff and extremely knowledge about their craft. You can feel the passion for what they do.
This place is the Taj Mahal of breweries! From the perfectly relaxed Atmosphere to the high end food, Outdoor games fireplace Mini ampatheater I can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon.
Good tour with well prepared tour guide and barmaid. Good lunch. The only negative was the $11 tiny salad.
Best brewery tour out there! Whether you drink beer or not you will enjoy this tour if this amazing building.
The tour was interesting. Our tour guide was very informative & entertaining. The restaurant was great. Not a traditional menu but was good.
Fun tour! Loved having the chance to feel hops and learn more about the company. Food at the Tap Room was also delicious.
Fantastic food. Of course you know about their beer. Plenty of ways to enjoy an afternoon. Beer tour, corn hole or just hanging ouy
If I could offer 6 stars I would. To earn 5 stars from me means you are worthy of being a destination trip. Sierra Nevada Brewery Mills River meets that requisite and exceeds expectation at every turn.
We walked the beautiful grounds, dined on braised venison, duck confit, and gulf shrimp and tasso. We drank delicious beer. And we marveled at how Sierra Nevada demonstrates it's comittment to sustainability in every detail.
Do yourself a kindness and make your way to SNB
This place is ENORMOUS! Plenty of space to enjoy the large selection, both inside and outside. The tour is second to none, but reserve your tickets ahead of time or you may be out of luck.
Beautiful brewery and tap house, with great food and beer. The guided tour was awesome and the guide was knowledgeable, friendly and upbeat.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff. I learned a lot about beer. The bistro food was outstanding and the beer tastes great. Fun time.
Love the unique items on the menu as well as the regular like the duck fat fries with duck confit. Strolling around the brewery is very interesting, too
Date trip or family fun. . Costs nothing to park and nothing for a self-guided tour. Although the guided tour is phenomenal, which requires a reservation
This is a beautiful brewery. The outdoor garden area is lovely and a great place to sit and enjoy the scenery. Definitely a place to see!
Fun, free and family friendly. The restaurant had delicious food. Highly recommend the pretzel with pimento beer cheese!!!
Beer is great. Went and saw a skiing movie in their conference area and there was some slight technical difficulties but again the beer is good so all is good.

Fantastic, do the tour but definitely visit Sierra Nevada! Always our 1st stop, when going to Ashville!
The best brewery and restaurant and entertainment facility I've ever been to. Reserve a tour a month ahead.
This place is the Biltmore of NC breweries. It's everything anyone could want in a brewery. Gorgeous property, delicious food, fresh beer. Yes please.
I loved the brew house tour. It's amazing what they achieved these years. The hop chamber was my fav... and the tasting, of course.
