Reviews of Asheville Visitor Center
Jaymi Tarnowski
The BEST way to see Asheville is on the Trolley - Hop On & Off. Senior tickets are just $33 for TWO DAYS!! You can't beat it. (We would've paid $25 just to park each day at the Omni Grove Inn, but no - we just hopped off the trolley there, two days in a row and saved $50! We LOVE a good deal, so this was right up our alley!
The drivers were very informative - some funnier than others, but all quite knowledgeable. We loved hearing different ones bring out varying information while driving around the city in comfort. We didn't have to find a parking place or wonder where to go or what to do - they did all the work while we enjoyed ourselves! Win-win! (Pictures taken on tour. )
Andrew
This was one of the best things we did in Asheville. The trolley tour is more expensive than I expected but well worth the money. I would recommend everyone come here and take the tour.
Steven Walton
Very attractive visitor center with ample parking, EV charging options, and a gift shop with snacks and various assorted souvenirs for purchase. Very glad we walked over and got our bearings here.
Mary Mangan
Thoughtfully laid out with information for every interest. Lots of people available to answer questions. It’s also the first stop for the hop-on/hop-off tour trolley. Ample parking.
Mark Maddox
I would highly recommend visiting All information centers when going traveling to a new location they have tons of information and helpful tips.. on the area and surrounding areas...
I would recommend Heaven over Hell

But God commedeth His Love towards us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.

Everything you need to know about what to do while visiting Asheville under one roof. Huge selection of visitor guides And helpful local volunteers. Plenty of tour opportunities here to from the Red Trolly to a Segue or Tukit tour.

Really lovely Visitors Center in Asheville - Tracey and David (from the Biltmore) were super helpful with resources and helping me plan a perfect itinerary for our spring trip.
Lots of information and great space to relax or get excited about what to see in the area next. Definitely, stop in to ask all your questions and then be prepared to visit and revisit Asheville over and over.
Meredith Beck
Super nice people working there. And TONS of brochures, maps, magazines, etc. Probably more than I've ever seen at a visitor center. What I came in for was a map of the river arts district and a map of downtown and I got them but had to ask. The little gift shop is cute because it has hand made things in Asheville but of course you're paying locally made prices. They also have like mini art exhibits which is cool.
Reka Phillips
Asheville was very nice the outside life is amazing scenery to take good picture and to go hiking.
L Dorsey
There is a wealth of information about Asheville. There is even information about relocating, WOW. I'm definitely 😁 tempted because I have been stress free & everyone has been so friendly. It's a reminder of true Southern hospitality. 🤓 …
Steve A
Lots of good info here. You can park your car here for free and make a short 10 minute walk into the center of Asheville. Such a great deal compared to paying for hourly parking in Asheville center
Mark Thornsberry
Great place to start your Asheville trip! The Grayline trolley hop on hop off is awesome 👍, we stayed on until Biltmore village, then ate at the Well Bred cafe, walked around and got back on again to return back to the visitor center. …
Bill Fekete
They helped us with our visit but they sure try to sell you stuff. Got all the information we needed. There gift shop is filled with local crafts which is very nice.
Mark Hoffman
If your not sure what to do in Asheville. Stop at the visitors center. They are extremely helpful on all topics. They told us about the Market Place. You can buy your tour packages there as well...
Nina Dempsey
Friendly, helpful fun day riding the trolley!
John Dicasali

Beth Rice
Came in for an old school paper map, left with a ton of suggestions and a new appreciation of Asheville hospitality. If you have any questions about the city, come here! Easy parking, super friendly assistance. 12/10
Thomas Ledford
Super nice place. Had plenty of maps and brochures to help plan activities while in the area.
Lori Spitzer
Visited here to get some ideas about what to see/ do in Asheville. Wanted to do the hop on/ off bus tour but hubby was of a different mind on this. We picked up a number of brochures about various sites. Staff was pleasant and helpful.
JC Alvarez
Awesome experience, the driver was showing and giving us details about the history of Asheville while riding, it is nice and she will recommend different places for you to have fun. Thanks and keep it up.
Edward Cotton

Rick Lupton
Great information and gift shop. You can buy tickets and board the excellent city trolley tour.
Russ W
Took the Gray Line from here. Our guide Michael, was so cool...and full of information. They even let our little man Mickey ride along with us, no problem. Definitely recommend it as a great way to see Ashville.
Brent Mccracken
This is probably the biggest and best stocked visitors center I have ever seen. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable.
Cathy Shannon
Fancy, lots of flyers, info booklets and phamplets. Gift shop Large brick building located inside a Education building.
Angela Pate
Tons of information. Great gift shop. Clean, aesthetically pleasing environment. Was disappointed that no one attempted to speak to us, or see if we needed assistance.
Luisa Rivera
Very nice people, we went here to buy tickets and catch the trolley. I highly recommend this if you are visiting and would like to see downtown Asheville. What a gorgeous city!
M Smith
Super helpful staff will take time to give you the lowdown on all Asheville has to offer, along with free maps, tips on discounts and info about most worthwhile activities. The gift shop has some really nice souvenirs, local arts and crafts.
Bill Wigginton
Great selection of road maps, brochures and information for restaurants, hotels and sites to visit. Gift shop has a variety of local items. Knowledgeable staff and clean restrooms.
Dinah Charles
What great staff at this visitor center. We only had 2 days and the staff had fantastic ideas and suggestions for us.
We rode the trolley, one way, no in and off stops. We saw the highlights of Asheville, what a beautiful mountain town. We went to chimney rock state park. Wow, it was spectacular. If you like waterfalls, highly recommend going to slide rock falls. Bring your swimsuits and slide down the rocks.
Must see is the WNC farmers market, while there eat at the moose cafe.
You will run out of time before running out of things to do.
Highly recommend a stop here, the staff could not have been better. Thank you for making our short stay great. We'll be back.
Amber Bryant
Today October 21, 2017- I and mom was first time there. See get map for urban trail. Very nice bigger building center.

We honestly cannot find a bad place, bad service, or bad food in Ashville.
Ashville gets all the stars

Asheville by trolley is fabulous!! Our driver Walt took us to many interesting spots as he drove safely and told riveting stories. Thank you Asheville!!
KAren Collier
Very informative trolley ride through the city. We learned so much that we would not have known on our own. Driver great. Nice gift shop and restrooms as well.
Beverly (Beverly)
I highly recommend visiting the visitor center online and in person if you plan to visit Asheville and are looking for activities. I spent 4 days visiting downtown Asheville, parts of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and of course the Biltmore Estates and I just barely scratched the surface of wonderful things to do in Asheville. I visited there website and found a foodie tour and 90 minute Trolley ride. Both were excellent. Also, the people at the visitor center were really friendly.
Brandella White
Love the gift shop and the staff was so nice!
mike ciriello
We scheduled a Segway tour of downtown Asheville as a stop on our road trip. The visitor center was beautiful. It was well cared for and the staff were super friendly. Our Segway tour guide, Scott was knowledgeable and funny. He provided a great deal of insight and information about the area as we worked our way through historic Asheville into the city center. What a great way to spend an afternoon.
Zohi Rad
One of the best visitor centers I've ever seen. Very clean and organized, clean bathrooms, great costumer service, very good gift shops with large selection of stuff, and close to Downtown.
My TIP : you can park at their parking lot for free and walk to DT (about 10 min walk) to avoid paying for parking at busy down town's streets.
Bojan Cukic
If you are in Asheville for the first time, it is a great idea to start at the visitor center. The bus tour will put your visit in historical perspective and give you ideas where to spend extra time. You may hop off the bus and be picked up later at any stop. Back at the visitor center, volunteers will not spare time to direct you towards attractions, restaurants, galleries, caffes or anything else that fits your interests.
Sam
People here are kind enough to explain how to spend my weekend at Asheville with Biltmore and other famous places. Many leaflets are available.
Lisa Trail
Very helpful staff. Tons of great brochures and maps. Great gift shop. Totally recommend before doing downtown Asheville, and the surrounding area.
MB4
Great, little, local craft gift shop.
Paul Cannon
The rides are great. We had a couple of different drivers so the tiring aspect seems to be hit or miss. But the ion and if buses are well worth it
james scott sumter
Very nice and expertly staffed information center.
E Colon
Prestine place. Bathrooms where clean, the store attendant was friendly and their is a lot of good information. The other people tending the counters need to work on at least being aware of people walking in. After all its the hospitality industry if you don't even say hi what does it say about you.
Larry Feenstra
The trolly tour was the best! I would recommend everyone who visits Asheville take the tour to acclimate themselves to the area.
Stacey Smith
Guy selling tours, Uncle Jimmy ( I think) was very informative, professional, and caring. Great with kids. They even had a local restaurant giving out sizeable samples. We didn't eat lunch, filled us up. The gift shop had everything you needed for the bus tour. The tour, go! I'd recommend going the first day to see all of Asheville. The second day is free. Free parking too.
Julia Howells
Fun experience with lots of history! We liked that it was hop on and off at your convenience so we could explore different areas. We found a lot of places we wouldn’t normally see so that was cool!
Roma Amin
Had a great experience here. The welcome center was spacious, well decorated, and very informative. We also took the bus tour, which was a great way to see the city and learn about its rich history.
Chris Decker
The trolley ride was great. Driver was friendly and engaging, I think his name was michael. Great way to see all of Asheville
Ric Rini
The staff here are super friendly and very eager to assist yo on answering any questions related to Asheville and the surrounding area. I highly recommend you stop here prior to commencing your exploration of the city as they have many free maps and brochures on things to do in and around the city.
The staff can assist you in as basic as where to stay and eat or if you have time they are more than happy to share the history of Asheville. It's worth the time and effort to pay the visitor center a visit and make your trip so much more efficient and enjoyable.
Richard S
Helpful and best place for free parking while taking the Greyline tours.
Kate Siegel
This place is so great. Everyone is incredibly friendly and they were very kind and boxed up sets of visitors guides and independent restaurant guides for me to pick up in a labeled box so I could distribute them to the guests at my wedding. Just make sure to contact them well ahead of time to get this done. I emailed them a few weeks ahead and then confirmed with them the week of.
Beth Breininger
Clean, organized, well stocked with information about many categories. Each category was labeled. Very easy to find what you are looking for. Helpful staff were also available. A nice little gift shop.
Drew Petzold
he Asheville Visitor Center is located in the downtown section of Asheville, right neat the Montford district. It is accessible through Interstate 240 at exit 4C. It’s pretty close once you get off, so it can sneak up on you, as there is no traffic light at the entrance there. There is ample parking available here.
When you come into the visitor center, you will notice that the place is clean and well kept up. You can find just about anything about Asheville in here. As you come in, there is a visitor log to fill out as well. When entering into the next set of doors, you’ll be inside the visitor center. To the left as you come in, you’ll see the table for the Gray Line Trolley tours and straight ahead the main visitor center desk and discounted tickets for the Biltmore Estate. The right side of the visitor center (closest to the windows) is basically the gift shop that they have available here.
We came to the Asheville Visitor Center on August 1, 2018 to do the Gray Line Trolley Tour (reviewed that separately on their listing). Tickets can be purchased inside this visitor center. We went right up to their desk to get tickets/stickers and it was a pretty easy process. After getting that settled, we had 30 minutes to explore the visitor center until the next trolley was available.
The inside of the place is actually quite big. They have books for dining and hotels, as well as digital boards as well. Seriously, if you are looking to find something out about Asheville, you need to come here. The staff were very friendly about answering questions we had about the general area and what the must dos should be. The gift shop in here is quite nice too with a wide array of shirts, small items, and souvenirs, which are cheaper than at the Biltmore Estate too.
If you are visiting Asheville, you should definitely come here to get anything you want to know about the area and what it has to offer. You won't regret it.

I'm giving it 4 stars because it was SUPER easy to find, and get to! Sadly, we left out too late and knew they would be closed by the time we got there.... went anyway, hoping we could maybe get some local pamphlets and info -looking to move - The place was beautiful, even in the cold, closed dark rain. LOL.

A must visit place when you come to Asheville.
Like any good information center, you will find maps of the city. The people we met there were really nice. They took their time to explain to us what to see.
The tour of the city on foot is super well signposted (ground markings). It starts at the exit of the visitor center.
Important: there is a large free car park, which is very practical.
