Booked a self guided kayak tour during our honeymoon. It was amazing! They only book tandem kayaks for adults with small children, so they had to call and update our reservation to two singles. Two days before, they called again and asked if we can bump our time up from 12pm to 10pm. We were fine with both situations. Other than that, everything went perfect! They explained the safety to the group and gave us life jackets. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to kayak the 6 mile trip and the river is gorgeous! We would book again if we're ever in the area!

My family of 4 kayaked on a Sunday at 12 pm. Upon arrival we were kindly greeted, given life vests, and waited until two others showed up before being driven to the drop off location a few minutes away. We were given a few instructions and then sent off on our own. Although it was a pretty calm journey, there were a few areas of rougher waters when passing under bridges, but nothing we had too much trouble managing. With these type of kayaks though, you can’t be afraid to get wet as we left some what soaked! I highly recommend everyone kayak through the beautiful French Broad River! Although we truly weren’t able to get a very good view of the Biltmore, it was still beautiful and the entire kayaking experience only took us about 2.5 hrs to complete! The one drawback I would say though, is that before the trip the radar looked pretty intense but we were forced to kayak anyway as they don’t offer refunds. However, I guess you could say kayaking in the pouring rain was definitely a memorable experience!

The tubes were nice. We also good a float for our cooler that worked well. We were picked up promptly from the take out location. No complaints.

If you want an unforgettable experience, choose Asheville Adventure Company!! We took a family of four on the white water rapids and this was an utterly amazing time-of-our-lives experience!! Grey was our tour guide! He was an excellent instructor as we worked together to paddle through the rapids. We saw deer, heron, and other wildlife! We stopped to jump off a rock into the river, and even swam about a bit in between all the fun rapids! 10/10 would recommend!

My husband and I did a white water rafting trip on the French Broad with Asheville Adventure Co. Our tour guide, Jacob, was great. He gave clear instructions but also kept the atmosphere fun. It really got us in the mood to spend more time on the river. We're only here for a week but we're already looking for room in our schedule to squeeze in another river trip. Highly recommend!

The team at AOC makes you feel like family. The rickety old vans will bring you back to your childhood days of summer camp! Great service and a beautiful kayak trip down the French Broad. I brought my whole family and it was wonderful!

Fun easy day floating down the French Broad. Ben was helpful, friendly, joking guy and the staff bunch of locals having a good time, thanks guy's. Would/will float down the river again. Just float, you don't need to paddle. Trip can take up to 4 hours, so plan on the day on the river. Some things learned to take, a hat, sunscreen, finger food no forks or spoons and take drinks, NO glass. Camera came in handy. Something to cover legs because you can be in the sun for a long time. I did get some sunburn on the legs. I think going single kayak is the best way to float on the river. If and it's a big if, if you get out of the kayak or raft, it is not easy to get back in. 4 adults, 3 kids. Kids age 5 and 8.

Great half day trip for our family of 5. Gage was our guide and he did a great job. Nice variety of rapids and a great trip for families with younger kids (ours are 9, 11 and 14). DO NOT BUY the photo package. We got 3 digital photos, almost as an afterthought, and none actually show our entire family. It is literally like they forgot we had ordered it. Really should dock them a star but it didn't impact our fun, just irritating.

Great place to Kayak down the French Broad River. I have used this place three different times over the years. Reasonable rental rates, they take you down and drop you in a private entrance for a 6-7 mile float back to AOC. The float is relaxing once you get past the interstate bridges. Float past Biltmore and some beautiful scenery. Take your time and have fun!

We whitewater kayaked with Jered and had a great time! He provided all necessary safety information in a simple, easy format that was appropriate for us as rookies. The river was nice combination of areas of rapids and areas of calmer waters. Would do it again on another visit!

Very good tour. Based near dwtn, parking aplenty. Instead of driving to a place up north of Asheville to raft, go here and let them do the drive. Then they bring you back dwtn. If you are lucky enough to get Gabe, as a guide, ask him for some jokes.

Friendly and helpful staff. This was our first time ever Kayaking, and this was a great place to start. The river was really calm with a brief exception under a bridge, but it was easy to navigate with the instructions they gave. Would definitely do again, and I now feel confident to try a harder river. I rode tandem with My 8yr old daughter, and even she said she’d like to try alone next time. Must wear a mask until you’re on the river.

A premier kayaking experience. Incredible staff, excellent service. On our day, they had insect repellent which we'd forgotten, bottled waters, and lawn games as we waited. Coming from Ohio, where kayaking is dirt cheap, this felt like a rip off, but ended up being the best kayaking trip I've ever been on. I'd recommend morning trips to see all the forest wildlife!

First off, unbelievably enjoyable people; Ben and his family/team go above and beyond for their customers. Our kayak trip was cancelled due to weather and they weren't able to get in touch with us before arriving geared up and ready to go. Not wanting us to be disappointed, they let us use a couple SUPs and take a short float down river FOR FREE! It made our day so fun even if we couldn't do the whole trip. Thank you!

FANTASTIC! Not only do they have good quality kayaks, but they take hospitality to a whole nother level. As soon as you enter their facility, you are greeted by smiles and positive vibes all around. These are folks that put people first and it shows. It's impossible to be grumpy around such wonderful people. Once you're all set up and ready to go, they shuttle you upstream to then start your kayaking adventure back to home base. Can't recommend those folks enough!!

Our group of 7 had a great time kayaking. Ages 9 to 65. We had 5 individual and 1 tandem. It was several hours of nature at its finest. It was a bit long for a few of us but so fun. We saw tons of birds and a turtle. Staff was very friendly and handled getting the kayaks in and out of the water.

Local outdoor guide center that provides rental kayaks, tubes, and rafts for guided and unguided tours of the French broad river south of Asheville, NC. They are super friendly and accommodating, and the launch site is a really cool eclectic area with picnic tables, shelter, a small stage, hammocks, and lots of room to hang out. The staff are working hard to function within covid-19 safety guidelines. They are limiting van loads to 10 people and have the area set up for social distancing. We really enjoyed our experience!

Great staff. It's obvious they love what they do. The kayak trip was 10 miles long. Along the way, you pass by the Biltmore off in the distance. Very tranquil. Bring your sun tan lotion!

We had an absolute amazing time!! If you are in the mood for an easy paddle/float downstream through beautiful Biltmore property, this is the trip for you! I wanted to get out on the water, but didn't want to go rafting, so this was exactly what I was looking for! They supply you with a canoe/kayak, paddle(s), life jackets and a ride upstream. They send you into the water and say "see ya when you get to our dock (approx 2-3 hours later)... just be back by 5pm!" If you enjoy an easy kayak/canoe ride w/ fun little rapids, and no "group" feeling, this is for you! We loved that it was just us and 1 other canoe (which we could easily keep distance from) on the river. We left at 10am and the morning trip was absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much AOC! There was road noise from time to time, but look at a map- you aren't going that far out of the city. Of course there will be road noise! There were also really quiet spots too. Just sit back and enjoy the ride! :D

Great adventure. Any fitness level can enjoy this. The river current will carry you down the river if you don't want to paddle. All you have to do is stear your boat in the middle of the river and away from the hazards.

We did this trip our last full day in Asheville . What a great way to experience the French Broad River and North Carolina beauty . The staff at Asheville Outdoors was great , friendly and helpful . The trip is perfect length and allowed leisurely float . At points you feel you are deep in the wilderness yet you are near the city all the time . Highly recommend this as a balance to the busy Asheville downtown.

Pulled into AOC after two of our large party lost their tube to a large puncture. The manager was incredibly accommodating despite the fact that we we're tubing on our own and not AOC customers. The facility and staff was great and I would recommend them without reservation. Thanks, guys.

These guys could not have been more friendly and accomodating. Cool place to hang out too. Cold craft beers on tap. Covered pavilion with picnic tables. Volleyball court and ping pong tables. Hard working folks who have been there for decades doing everything they can to make sure you have a good river experience. The French Broad flows right through the Biltmore Estate on this section. . Beautiful and relaxing trip for all levels.
