I had the good fortune to visit Tampero Cigars on a recent, and my first visit, to Ybor City. They were recommended by website Friends of Habanos and I was not disappointed. I met Vladimir and his wife, who were gracious hosts and told me about the area and where else I could enjoy a smoke and a drink. I purchased a maduro Tampero which I enjoyed while there. It was very good and similar to the Oliva's or Romeo Julieta's gordos of Nicaraguan leaf that I normally smoke. If in Tampa, you must visit Ybor City, and if you do, stop by Tampero Cigars and also go to J.C. Newman Cigar Factory and take the tour. It's incredible, educational, and you might meet Eric Newman himself, like I did.

Tampero cigar lounge is a hidden gem in Ybor City. Beautiful selections of hand-rolled & beautifully crafted cigars and the atmosphere, created by Wladimir, the owner, are an experience you have to add to your cigar cultural repertoire.

Just visited Ybor City and noticed this place. Does it exist? It sure does and I spent about 30 minutes taking photos and 360 view interior and exterior shots. It's a nice folksy place and they were flattered that I took photos here.

It’s been 40 plus yrs since visiting Ybor City and it’s changed quite a bit yet the “Old City” feeling remains. I was looking for a cigar shop before the wife and had lunch at the Columbia and low and behold, I stumbled across this gem right across the street. What a great find it was. We were greeted by the most pleasant lady and was of great help. I had a idea of what I wanted and grabbed a handful then she recommended some house sticks so I kindly obliged and added to my digs. If you’ve not tried them you’re missing out on what I would rate them a 90+. Thanks for the great smokes and I’ll be getting more through the mail. It’s a must stop for you cigar smokers.

Just got done at this and I must say, very impressive! Walking in the smell is immaculate and we were greeted by very kind staff member, Larry. We were unsure of exactly what to get and he helped us and showed us around to the various cigars of varying types and prices. Great experience and for sure recommend to others!

The 1st pleasant visit, I was helped by a young fella with growing knowledge & advise. Today, my second visit, I was on a mission to acquire my 2nd Plasencia cigar Solomon. I also decided to try a locally hand rolled cigar. The Plasencia is a nice pulling hour long smoke. Enjoy.

Great place right across from famous Columbia restaurant in Ybor city. Wide variety of brands/prices in a fully stocked humidor. The owners are very knowledgeable and will treat you like family. Definitely recommend!!!

If you have any questions about the origin of a cigar, its flavor, the meaning of names, or anything about a cigar, this is the place to go. A drive for me but whenever I am in Ybor, I stop by to restock. They are several dollars a stick cheaper than local shops in the Bradenton area. Staff is always friendly and spend an extra few minutes discussing new product, etc.
