I’ve been going to Rich’s for over 20 years. Back in the day Steve (who passed a number of years ago) was so kind and patient with me as a new pipe smoker…as I moved to cigars they continued to not only have such an incredible selection for all different types, they are extremely knowledgeable and yet never make you feel like you don’t belong. Great smoking room to sit and enjoy. Thanks Rich’s and all the staff for being regular people and always available.

Not your typical humidor. They want you to ask for what you want to smoke. Nice open layout with comfortable leather couches. No Wi-Fi though. All in all not bad.

I went in to buy a cigar for my best man as a thank you gift and was greeted by Bill. I asked him if he could help me make him a nice variety pack of cigars and he was eager and excited to help me. I feel like I got the royal treatment there - Bill walked me through the key points of the cigars and arranged them in a nice cigar box for my buddy. Places and people like this give you faith in great customer service and I will definitely be coming back for a box for the bachelor party.

There's not a ton of cigar options in town; luckily there's a place like Rich's to fulfill any needs. A great selection with good prices. The staff was very friendly and treated me with the respect of an old friend. I will certainly be coming back anytime I need to stock up.

Rich’s is incredible. My son has autism and enjoys smoking a pipe. Amelia helped us and it was like taking a quick course in pipe methods & practice. We learned a lot, bought three pipes, and had one of our best times on our trip to visit family in Portland. Rich’s, and Amelia are awesome!!! We will go back every year.

Haven't been back in 15 years. Walked in and it was just great. Excellent staff product display. Everyone has knowledge. I was looking for Balmoral cigars which haven't been around since early 2000's. Well it just happened that they had a box of Churchill's in basement storage. Bought the whole box. My friend who along with me discovered them in 99 had one on the drive. They were fresh and smoke well. Kind of like visiting an old friend Thanks to Rich's staff

Rich’s is the classic brick and mortar tobacconist shop. Great experience through and through. They have a great selection of pipes and tobacco, tinned, bulk, even fantastic house blends. They also have some hard to come by pipe tobaccos as well 👍🏻. Bill has always been willing to help me choose new tobaccos to try, as well as Elliot. Elliot helped me pick out my first briar pipe and even gave me some thorough instructions on how to properly break in the pipe and how to care for it! I’ve had great conversation in the shop and will always be looking forward to my next stop down at Rich’s.

Not to bad of a place. Everyone there was really polite and nice to talk to. Selection was better than most small shops, but what's nice is the selection of cutters, lighters, and humidors, along with other tobacco products like pipes. It's really nothing special, but if you need a cigar it's not a bad place to check out.

What a gem! I found out about this place because I wanted a barely past version of a Portland Monthly and they were the ONLY place in town that has them. They set two copies aside for me and gave me 5 days to pick them up. Once I visited the place I fell in love with the "Portland of old" vibe. I impulse purchased a few out of the ordinary candies as I picked up the magazine's they set aside for me. I'm sure it's an awesome cigar shop as well (but I don't smoke). They also have an off the hook magazine selection and high quality customer service.

Empty of magazines but a huge selection of tobacco products, everything from cigars to cigarettes to pipe tobacco and all the apparatus's needed to enjoy them. Staff was super helpful and the price was better than I expected coming through the door. If you need a specialty tobacco shop you could do much worse.

This is the best place for any tobacco connoisseur, Portland has a thing for artisan style delicacies, and Rich's has been playing this game since they opened. Their staff are dedicated to the artistry of smoking, finding your perfect flavor profile, or a perfect gift for a friend. Can't go wrong here if you're a pipe smoker, they blend their own tobacco to a degree of upper level craft. The selection of Cigars is laudable and if you just want a pack of smokes, they're priced competitively.

I came in too buy my first REAL pipe. I am new to pipe smoking and told the gentleman I was a novice. He took the time too help me find a pipe that was fitted perfectly for my hand as well as appearance and not once tried to up sell or pressure me into feeling I needed to invest a ton of money into my new hobby. I am pleased because they are supplied with multi-functional metal smoking pipe cleaning tool, pipe, tobacco, pipe cleaners, lighters, etc., etc. What else would I be needing? I am give two stars to the negative. I am displeased because customer service is not for me. They not greet me walk in. Why this so big big cold people? Once I get attention, I ask about products, pipes, tobacco, etc., and they leave me to go attend other shoppers. Why this happen, Rich's Cigar Store?

I love love love the magazine selection here! Title after title after title of magazines I never knew existed. The sorts of magazines you have to go to a tobacco shop, like this one, or an old-fashioned newsstand to get. It was so much fun browsing in here. Apparently something called a cigar is the other reason people come here-LOL! Seriously, there appeared to be a devoted gathering of cigar afficiondos at the counter in deep discussion with the clerk regarding the cigars on selection. By the way, it smells heavenly in here, rich & deep with smell of quality tobaccos.

Give these guys your money. Very impressive magazine collection, excellent cigar options and respectful, patient sales. I've probably invested $300 in them over the years, and I can't think of another place around town that has fresh stogeys. Even the basic CAO moontrance is in good supply and fresh here, but two other spots in Portland had stale ones.
