What an amazing shop! Mr. McFarland is a one of a kind gentlemen. His family moved to North Carolina from Ireland in the 1600’s and they’ve been farming and growing tobacco and rolling cigars for hundreds of years. He still lives on the family farm that was settled when they first moved over. If that’s not impressed enough, the cigars themselves are some of the finest quality I’ve ever tasted and enjoyed! There is absolutely no other place like Carolina Cigar Company! They even ship for free if you order more than $50! I absolutely recommend stopping by this little treasure in the heart of Asheville and get a history lesson and some damn good cigars!!

Honestly not a fan of this city but I am so glad I stopped by just for this place! The guys working here are super educated on cigars and just straight up friendly. I got a cherry cigar which was my first time trying a flavored cigar. Definately worth the price and worth the stop!

Charles is the best! Loved being able to meet the owner. He made sure and took time and care to chat with us. They have a customer for life. They even ship on order over $50! The cigars are the best I’ve ever had. My favorites were chocolate, honey, and vanilla. Couldn’t say enough things about Charles. He even sat down and enjoyed a cigar with my boyfriend and I. He talked about his family business and how he makes the cigars. No pesticides and homegrown. Go here if you’re in town! Update: Dec 2022 This now my husband and I’s favorite place to go. Charles has spoiled us with the quality of his cigars. Only smoke his.

Visited Asheville, NC for my first time and stopped by this cigar shop. The owner was very friendly and showed me around the place, explained the process and presented the different cigars they make. I've sampled two of their cigars and they are great. The cigar is rolled perfectly, excellent draw, and the ash burns evenly throughout. The cigars have great smoke output and are rich in flavor. Excellent experience overall, I will definitely return.

If you want to step into a time machine run by two old school gentlemen, you must stop in when in Asheville. Go for their top shelf 7 year aged stuff and you won't be disappointed. Complex, dense flavor notes right after you light up.

I have been smoking cigars going on a decade now, and would highly recommend Carolina Cigar Company. Visited Asheville about a year ago and bought 5 cigars. They have been resting in my humidor since. Just lit up a Four Blend, for an evening smoke, and what a treat! Thick, creamy smoke with quite a bold nutty flavor with a hint of vanilla on the retro. Excellent work!

Me and my buddies stopped in while tramping around for my bachelor party. From the get go, this place is living history. Incredible atmosphere, and we were extremely lucky Mr. Charles was in to help us. A more charismatic, knowledgeable and downright passionate man can never be found anywhere. He will happily answer any questions you have about his cigars. And the cigars? The absolute best. I recommend their Rum flavor. Though I'm thoroughly excited to try their top-shelf unflavored. Move over Cuba, whoever you are!

My partner and I came into the shop while on vacation a few minutes before close and were trying to just make a quick trip in and out. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the Charles, the company owner, who was super excited to take us to the back to pick out what we wanted. We shared that neither of us smoke cigars and didn’t really know what to choose and he was super helpful in explaining the different flavors, wraps, and sizes. He demonstrated lighting and cutting them all while keeping great conversation! Mario was also working was funny and helpful! We left the store in super great spirits and were in disbelief at how much fun we had going to a cigar shop! I was recently in Asheville for a bike trip and my friends and I were walking around Asheville a bit later at night. We passed by the shop and were looking in and Mr. Charles immediately welcomed us in. He was immensely helpful and a very kind. The selection and atmosphere of the store was wonderful. It was the last night of our trip and the experience absolutely made the night! I will definitely be returning any time I’m in Asheville. Great little cigar shop. When I was there it was mostly their own sticks pretty good assortment. The employee was really helpful in explaining what everything was. They make some really cheap short fill cigars that I stayed away from. Had some bright reddish cigar, I purchased it out of curiosity. It had a good even burn and was very tasty in my opinion. My biggest complaint lack of website so I can order more.

Met Charles, had a fantastic cigar and talked with him for quite a while. I've always said that sometimes a single person can have a great impact on a company, and it is with Charles. Great guy! In addition, his family owned tobacco seed grown in DR is nothing short of fantastic. Bought a case of maduro robustos, and I do believe I am headed outside to enjoy one right now!

So glad I didn’t buy some Romeo y Julieta at some janky smoke shop and that I held out, unlike the other groomsmen I was with. Stumbled on this place on the way to dinner during a bachelor trip and I was NOT disappointed. Great cigar shop and a place worth stopping in when you're in town. The staff is awesome and super noise. They definitely know their product. Cabinet selection cigars are a good investment (smoke on on top of the Thirsty Monk on their upstairs deck and thank me later).

Spent too little time here today! The owner was a delight. He asked all the right questions. I am not a pro but enjoy a fine smoke from time to time. Walked out with several of their sticks. Range from $1.25 to $10 each. The Four Blend is being enjoyed with a nice bourbon at the moment. My new go to!

An excellent tobacconist and historical landmark in the heart of Asheville. Reasonable prices on superb hand-rolled Dominican cigars. Don't expect an upscale humidor with the usual run of trendy brands. This place offers only their own brand of satisfying smokes in a variety of ages and blends. Once, I was lucky enough to catch the owner behind the counter and he was most helpful. If you are the type who buys into the hype and glamour of "Cigar Aficionado" then you might be disappointed, but if you prefer to make up your own mind about what constitutes a good cigar, you will be pleasantly surprised by their selection. Highest possible recommendation!

Met this excellent gentleman, owner and fellow former Marine withmy friend to peruse his wares. We purchased a fine Maduro and several Cherry and Chocolate smaller cigars. He said something to the effect of "once you taste one of my cigars you'll throw a rock at any other one." Well, let me tell y'all; the man was not a lying. I am midway through my cherry cigar and it is the best one I've ever tasted. He talked about having them dipped and the process of where he has them made. Well worth the trip to anyone who visits Asheville whether they smoke cigars or know people who do. Check him out!

The owner is exceptionally knowledgeable about his product. 11th gen tobacco farmer. I bought my cigars from him personally, fantastic fellow if you have the chance to meet.

Their cabinet selection are the only cigars that could hold their own with the genuine (as opposed to the fakes available in cigar stores and at JFK Duty Free) Cuban product, and by far the best I tasted during a three month sojourn in the USA. They deserve to be more widely available. A reason among others to return to Ashville.

A small selection of Carolina Cigar Co. sticks... This shop only carries one brand of cigars...theirs. Recommended: Cabinet Selection small gauge...the larger gauges taste greener and aren't full bodied. Over my weekend stay in Asheville, as per my usual, when out of town or visiting a new place, I try to check out all the local cigar shops, And let me tell you, in Asheville, they are sadly missing. So I came here hoping to find at least a small assortment of various brands only to find one. I imediatly went to their website only to find that it had one page with very brief general descriptions and no links to more information. When I asked the representative there repeatedly about the wrappers, binders and fillers they use he would not or could not answer my simple question directly but instead redirected to country of origin, fermentation and made reference somewhat to the blend by way of leaf cut...valado, seco, ligero etc. And so, it's a co. that's been around for over 200 years, use to grow their tobacco in the Carolinas and now grows it in the DR...As to the seed and plant, idk. The gentleman that was "helping" me decided the entire stock into 3 basic categories for me: mild, medium and full flavored...of the full, he only had 4 different boxes, so I grabbed 2 different sizes and one medium bodied of a smaller gauge so I could get more from the wrapper, out the door it was about $30. Now to the smoke...I'll start with the medium though i smoked it second...it sucked...the draw and burn were cumbersome and the flavor just got plain bad after about half way through...I didn't even finish it...Okay, so the full body of the same gauge is a whole nother story...it started out very peppery for over an inch, this started to concern me but I was pleasantly surprised with what came next...short version is...the flavor profile of this cigar changes 4 times...I thoroughly enjoyed it. Price...this is not a $10 cigar...it's maybe a $6...but if you want to try it you'll have to pay the $10
