Staff are not very friendly. Really wish they'd do a better job of advertising the in store deals, like make some actual clearance racks instead of a big sign above claiming sale but nothing in that section is...

Buying here isn’t too bad, good if you’re looking to splurge on a lot of stuff at once. About 50% of the stuff is not good and I doubt anyone would buy (quality and/or outdated). 25% of the items are too overpriced that it’s not worth buying used when you could buy it new for not much more. I’ve seen AE jeans being sold for $40 when you could get them new for $60. But I’ve also seen Nike hoodies for $10 that would cost $60 new. I’ve sold here a handful of times. It’s hit or miss, possibly depending on who’s taking your stuff. I’ve taken in full trash bags of clothes thinking they’d buy most of it and they only buy a handful. Other times, I doubt they’ll buy much but they end up buying most of it. It’s worth trying! Whatever they don’t take, I donate elsewhere.

If you're buying, you can find decent prices on name brand clothing that is very gently worn. If you're selling, expect to get 2-10% of what you bought it for, even if the tags are still on it and it's never been worn. The process is so picky that, unless you really needs the few extra dollars, it's much easier just to donate clothes to the salvation army or goodwill. The sales associates here have never been overly welcoming in my experiences, either.

The best place to start shopping when visiting Sioux Falls before you hit up any store. You can find almost anything you need here at reasonable prices. Plus everything is color coordinated which makes shopping easier. The only bad thing is there isn’t much selection for men.

Quality, gently worn clothing at respectable prices. You still have to look for stretched out necklines and a tad over worn clothing but for most part this place has it going on! I'll will definitely go back. Loved their board full of "wanted" items!

Went with my two girls and 2 hours later and about $300 they have new-to-them all name brand school clothes. The prices are the same you would pay for on the garage sale sites or even less. I would highly recommend this place, especially for the fact you get to try clothes on. As for the comments about bringing clothes in for cash... Understanding that they can’t offer what they sell them for may be hard.. they have staff, rent, etc. For being picky, well yeah they need to be able to sell them. I would most definitely take my clothes in and accept garage sale (actual garage sale) prices and use it to shop there. We live two hours away and this is where I’ll take my picky girls from now on.

Brought 6 boxes of clothes and accepted about 1 box full, not sure what the criterion is, some of the new clothes with tags on or brand clothes were all got rejected, seems like men’s clothing is on a higher acceptance level than ladies. Anyway, the final price was pretty good, staffs were nice and helpful, definitely will come back to buy or sell.

Love the selection and low prices! Also I need larger sizes up to 4x on some items and had no problem finding them! Found a few things I love including a beautiful dress and a mini sweater to cover as s I'm self-conscious about my upper arms. Oh and the shoes!! So many options in all sizes including boots both short and long! Best place to shop in Sioux Falls!

This place has a GREAT selection, and everything is pretty decently priced as well, but the customer service seems to always ruin the experience. Asking for help or a dressing room will get you a pretty negative reaction from staff- not a single smile is ever seen, seriously! I hope they figure out their employment issue soon, because the store is great other than that!

Every time I make it to Plato's, I find something worth taking home. It's a great store with great clothes for a discount. Not the best place to drop off tho, they tend to buy things from you for a very low price and resell it for too much. Overall pretty good.

Great deals on all the clothes they sell there! I can get a fancy brand new dress, with the tags still on even, for around $10-$15 where as if I bought the dress at another store it would be $50+. They have a great selection of clothes, but they also have shoes and accessories. They have clothes for both boys and girls there too. Also the changing rooms are big, and cleaner than most stores. Totally love this place, one of my favorite places to shop.

They used to take way more styles and brands and weren't so picky about the clothes that they take. Basically they don't take much of anything nowadays it seems. Kind of a bummer! I used to sell more clothes there so I would buy more there too!!!

We do like shopping there, but brought in a ton of clothes, bags etc. They purchased only 5 items for barely any $. The clothes we brought were name brand, boutique, many current styles/not all, and several with tags yet. 5 minutes to go through hundreds of pieces. ..really? Quite disappointing experience today. The store was clean which was nice, although the ladies racks, had several mis sizes in sections.

Very selective about what they buy. Passed on a couple pairs of very nice Miss Me jeans in acceptable used condition. They bought one pair of my Miss Me jeans for $8.80, so payout for selling clothing is a bit on the low side. On the upside, it's in a great location, they have a wide selection of quality clothing, shoes and accessories for both men and women!

I have a lot of fun shopping at this second hand store, saving money, and putting together unique outfits. They have a great selection and lots of inventory. One time a sales clerk inadvertently implied that I seemed a little old to shop there (I'm in my thirties.) That did bum me out a little.

Maybe it is all about approach? This was my first time going to Plato's Closet. Before arriving, I read a lot of horrible reviews on this place and yes, I believe them to be true. However, I also think there may be a way to have a beneficial experience for ourselves as clientele and for the business so they can make earnings also (a win-win). For instance, if you decide to sell clothes, don't overload it by bringing in garbage bags, giant totes, extra large boxes or just a ton of stuff. Bring only the BEST of the stuff you want to get rid of and keep it at a minimal (sometimes less is more). If the items still have its integrity and the store doesn't already have an abundance of it, they'll pay you decent enough where they can still make a solid profit as well. For jeans, just make sure they are not faded, unless that is the way they were designed. I brought in 3 pairs of jeans and some boots. They bought 2 pairs of the jeans and the boots. They didn't buy my 3rd pair of jeans, which were brand new, because they were carpenter jeans, and those are not a big seller in the store, which is understandable. I received wayyyyyy more money from Plato's Closet than I even expected, so in my situation I felt the store was more than fair! I had about a dozen shirts and another pair of boots that I gave to Savers earlier that day, and now looking back, I'm sure I could have received at least $20-$30 extra for those items which would easily cover the costs of going to the movies this upcoming weekend with friends (Suicide Squad is coming out!) Thanks Plato's Closet! If I ever need to get rid of stuff in the future you will definitely be my first stop!

I have sold clothes here 2-3 times a year for the past few years. In my experience, the number of clothes you sell and the amount of money you get for them is very hit or miss. Sometimes I sell nearly my entire basket that I bring in, and other times I'll bring over half of my basket back home with me. Will your clothes sell for what they're "really" worth? No, but Plato's is in business to MAKE money. In my opinion, any amount of money is worth more to me than my clothes sitting in my closet collecting dust!

Sells nice clothes. Brought stuff in to sell while their computer system was down and they told me they'd call when they were done. I never got a call and I was slightly inconvenienced. However, it's a great place to buy clothes and has a very fun atmosphere.

I am a 62 year old woman..feel I dress stylish..I just came from Platos Closet..I took 51 shirts and 9 pair of shoes...they offered $6 for one sweater vest that still had tags on it for $49..not only am I very dissatisfied with them and will never reccomend this store to anyone..nor will I ever go to this store again...the service was okay..but I would not give them even a fair rating.
