This review is based on my SELLING experience. I came on a Monday morning and did not have to wait very long. The two ladies sorting through my clothes were very friendly and present with my transaction. My expectations were low based on other reviews, so I was happy when I walked away with 90 bucks! Experiences will always vary but this was a good one.

I’ve had positive experiences with the staff every time I’ve visited. I’ve bought nice long-lasting clothes from brands like Agolde and Everlane secondhand that I otherwise would not be able to afford at full retail prices. They have an assortment of clothes, some of which are new from boutique brands, and you may have to dig for the high quality stuff in your style and size but it’s worth it. I also have sold my clothes here several times for cash and credit. They take a good chunk of my items and I can tell they’re discerning without being picky. Overall, love this place!

If you go on weekend to sell expect a long line. Staff is nice, but is not very clear what they buy as they rejected items from people before me, saying they buy depending on the season and we're on winter.I went there with 2 jackets and a coat. Received 28dls cash for them, but they did not take a wool coat in perfect condition. I don't get it.

Be careful this place is super addictive! I absolutely love this store. I can go in here any day of the week and find something high and or designer for a bargain price. It takes time, shopping is not quick, the best time to arrive as early in the morning before the clothes have been rummaged through. If you're looking to sell your clothes here you need to be very aware of Trends. I recommend calling ahead of time and asking them what they are accepting. Ask for details if you aren't sure what the trends are asked them, they will tell you. The traffic here can get pretty busy in the afternoons and evenings when people get off work so the earlier in the day you can arrive the smoother your shopping trip will be.

I absolutely love this store! Thrifting is always hit or miss, but I have more hits here than misses that’s for sure. Definitely recommend! The staff are super friendly here, and the long line for selling AND for buying says a lot about this location. If you’re in town, you should absolurely check out this Buffalo Exchange!

Will try to be as fair as I can here. It was my first time going to the store and I’ve seen the mostly negative reviews on selling, but decided to still give it a shot. I brought 2 huge bags of clothes — 1 bag is full of lightly worn, good quality and brand name items (I only mention they’re branded because this seems to matter when selling worn clothes), the other bag is also filled with name brands but maybe a little bit more used but still in good wearable quality. I went in and waited on the selling side. The store seems bright and organized. Everyone seems nice and polite in the counters. I didn’t wait too long and I was called to bring my stuff. The person who was going through my clothes was nice and friendly at first, she talked like she liked my things, she said they don’t take winter stuff which on their voicemail said they take all weather stuff. She started going through my things, picked something — put a tag on it and moved on. While she was doing so, another person, presumably a manager, came over, shook her head and said no. So she took the tag off and kept going. From then on, conversation seized, she went through my stuff almost like a routine, and basically put everything back. The one they almost picked was one of the “least valuable” items I’ve brought in and one of the more trendy, “fast fashion” items. So lesson learned — they have a very specific taste and style here. And that’s it and all they care about. It’s one type of dressing. It’s more on the trendy, hip, high-top, funky, vintagey look — that a lot of “fast fashion” brands are currently doing. I walked around the store after they rejected all my clothes Lol And seem to have good stuff but again, it’s a very specific type of clothing and fashion genre. It’s annoying because their site and voicemail and ads make it sound like they are very opent to all and anyy type of clothing but they certainly are not! It would be so much better if they’re just transparent about what they’re looking for so people like me don’t think we have a place there when we won’t. So unfortunately, this turned me off on their store :(

Overall pleased with the process. Was there (multiple times) with a friend to sell clothes - we brought LOTS of items. Criteria of what they buy is somewhat confusing and inconsistent from one time to the next, as well as with different buyers. They bought way less than we expected (especially the first time), so we had to haul a lot out of there.

I love this store, the staff is always friendly and the stock rotates frequently so there's always something new to find. Great men's selection also, larger than you'd usually find in clothing-centric thrift stores. Plus sizes, lots of dresses, great variety of styles. Clientele is polite also, very enjoyable experience thumbing through the racks to find that perfect gem amongst others who are doing the same.

I love this little place. My son brought me here & I'm so glad he did. It is a second hand store in center city. If you want to donate anything you have & they think they can sell it they will actually pay you for your donation in your choice of store credit or cash! That's Awesome! They have a lot of name brand stuff, mostly clothing, shoes & accessories. So if u want to empty ur closet & start a new wardrobe this is a great way to do it. The store is a bit on the smaller side but they have a lot of stuff. The staff was friendly & helpful. They will even hold items for up to 24hrs if u are undecided on an item. I really like this place.

***Selling experience only*** In short, I gave them 8 pieces (1 coat, 2 shirts, 1 sweatshirt, 1 sweater, 2 pants, 1 t-shirt), and I got 41 bucks in cash. My items were mostly well known brands (COS, Theory, Paul Smith and etc.). I know that's not a lot of money, but you can get cash right away, so I think that's saving my time and less stressful. My visit was about 20 min, it was quick and easy process. If you like to shop here, you can get paid double in shop card (my case would be 82 bucks).

The best thrift clothing selection in the city. Both men and women's clothing. I've consigned here as well, you don't get a ton of money so I prefer shopping here over selling here.

Just left Buffalo Exchange to sell some men's clothing. I had an appointment, but there was still a line - about a 20 minute wait. I brought one bag of button up shirts. They accepted about half. They really don't want "dress shirts" and the like - suits, trousers, etc. are not part of their interest. I walked away with about $85. I would have liked a bit more, but happy to see a segment of our closet pared down. The buyer was extremely nice! I've also found some treasures here over the years, including a stunning Kate Spade bag for just $35.

They surprisingly took shirts I didn't expect (Old Jcrew shirts, Old Navy Striped, Express Long sleeves). It seems they're stocking up for Fall season and was happy to get what got in store credit. Friendly, relaxed shopping atmosphere. You're thrift picking so the excitement is in the searching! I liked how you can sell old clothes and buy your new style. A++!

As a customer, this is a great store. Good quality clothes, friendly staff, and a clean storefront. However, when selling they are rather lackluster. Asked the staff member behind the counter if shoes would be rejected based on size and was assured that nothing would be rejected due to size, but only condition. I tried to sell some name brand sneakers in mint condition and was told, less than a minute after being assured it wouldn't be an issue, that they would be too hard to sell due to size & was turned away. I understand certain sizes are difficult to sell but the staff contradicts themselves when it comes to their buying policy.

Friendly staff but was very disappointed with the store and its buying policy...after reading about the store on its website and calling the store I truly was hoping it would be a much better experience than other " trading/ buying stores". Buffalo Exchange also wants very current merchandise, and its hit or miss on what they are looking for on that particular day. I called ahead and asked what they were looking for and the response was coats and sweaters. So I brought a lot of coats and sweaters but they 2 sweaters and no coats! Ugh! But at least they were very kind about it!

Definitely a great place to get clothes. Favorite thrift shop by far, if you can call it that. It's more pricey than other thrift shops, but definitely still cheap, and the clothes are brought in by other people who no longer wore them. The style is very urban (being in the center of Philly) and that's probably why I'm so drawn to it. I've never found anything in other thrift shops that I like at all, but here I have too many things that I like and I never have enough to buy all of them, so I settle for 4-5 things, typically. Go here to go clothes shopping before anywhere else, they have a wide selection and options for everyone.

I especially love when the Halloween costumes are out early, and organized by size! And when the clearance racks are out simultaneously (in the past, the clearance rack was replaced by the costume rack). Overall, I usually find something amazing each time I visit.

Loving all the bad reviews that complain that they don’t pay enough when you sell there. Uh, that’s how businesses work? Buy low, sell high? And the staff isn’t rude. Maybe you were rude to them? I called late on a Monday evening and they said sure come on by. I brought alot of vintage clothing from my mom and they were so grateful for the items. They treated each item with respect and it made me so happy that I had found a place where her things would be appreciated. Stop by and see the lovely things they sell. They give you dirt money for what you give, granted it's because you can easily get money for your stuff or credit like a clothes gamestop type deal. They only have 1 person working at the selling station, very slow. The person who accepts clothes will not take your cheap h & m, or forever 21 clothes. However depending on the person working they may or may not accept your other "higher" end clothes. So I would recommend bringing your clothes at least twice because the second or third person might actually like your clothes. Whole experience very dependent on who's working.

I recently sold some items to Buffalo Exchange and would rate it as a very positive experience. It's true that they only took about a third of what I brought in, but they are buying rather than consigning so they have to buy only what sells. I certainly don't begrudge them that. The two buyers I worked with were very nice, saying things like 'these are cute but this season we're looking more for X' - not making me feel badly that I was proffering items they didn't want. I took what they did not buy away with me - selling some on ebay, donating some, and setting some aside to bring back when they're more in season (per the buyer's advice).

Awesome thrift store to find some steals if you’re into fashion and clothing. It’s hard to go in and not walk out with a deal on something. The staff is super particular with what they want when it comes to trade ins so call ahead and ask or you will walk out with the clothes you wanted to get rid of.

Long wait due to Covid-19 restrictions, once inside, store was well lit and clean. No debris inside or outside, clothing racks were well stocked well many nice selections. Only annoyed by lines.

Decent selection of clothing and sneakers. Definitely taxing on clothes though. A lot of the prices are retail or very near retail for used clothes. The only way to get a good deal is to bring in old clothes. Theres some clothes with rips and dookie stains that are still overpriced. Only redeeming quality about the store is how well the sneakers are priced which is why im giving 3 stars. Also i give them kudos for not giving out plastic bags and for offering reusable totes.

This place is addictive. If you don't mind looking through racks and racks to find your perfect look. There is something here for everybody. This shop offers women's, men's, career, casual and elegant looks to enjoy. Most things are new or gently used. I've found, shoes. jackets, jeans and jewlrey that I would never find anywhere else. Shopping here adds to my quirky, unique sexy style. Their return policy is very customer friendly and often times while shopping, people bring items in to re-sell. I dare you to not find atleast two cute items per visit!

This place is a great thrift store. They do a good job making sure that the clothes are wearable, in good condition and fashionable. My favorite part of the store is the vintage rack. It is a small section, but I always find something I love there.

They tend to need a lot more men's clothes than women's so I usually do pretty well when I sell my clothes. I don't always find stuff when I go to thrift stores and I feel the same way about here. It's all about the hunt. Many of these other reviewers need to chill.

To everyone complaining about them not buying in their items, you have to realize these items need to be SOLD again to someone. As in..they need to be in excellent shape and a current style. Think about why you're getting rid of the item....and then think about the very few reasons someone would have for buying this thing that you don't deem worthy of keeping in your own closet...like really..just think. And yes some items are over $40 and guess what..it's STILL a thrift store, because those items originally cost over $150-$200 retail. That's what thrift is. Don't complain because a new condition rag & bone leather vest is $60 just because you have no idea that vest originally cost $500. That being said, this store is amazing as long as you're competent enough to know what items are actually worth, not what they're worth TO YOU. The staff is incredibly friendly but under constant stress from mentally ill homeless people coming in on the daily trying to steal things and cause a scene, on top of the usual shoplifters and jerks. If you feel like someone isn't giving you their full attention, it's probably because they're simultaneously trying to keep someone from stealing while also keeping crazies and creeps from loitering (or even urinating-yes people actually have done that) in the dressing rooms. You really have no idea what these poor people are dealing with while also trying to provide you with friendly customer service. Please be kind.

Since moving into town we've gone in and sold a lot of our bulk vintage stuff to Buffalo Exchange instead of driving back up to New York to do it. The staff have been very friendly and treat us very well. Best of all they seem to enjoy when we come in with 6 trash bags FULL of stuff and usually take quite a bit of it, which really helps us to clear out some of our storage space and puts some money in our pockets. I usually find a piece or two to purchase whenever I go in too. Glad to have this place around :)

I really like this store. They have cute fun things and they stay current. but I do think that selling your stuff there can be kind of a rip off since you only get 50% of what its worth. But I really enjoy shopping there. Always find cute unusual things.

Look I never actually bought anything from here only sold some things but the from what I've sold and seen there you can find some very cool and rare items. You really dont get enough for what you sell but if you're selling your clothes then there's a reason for that. (For me it was drugs) As far as the people who choose what to buy from you they come off as quite pretentious and uppity like they're fashion guru's. The woman manager made claims like she knows what everyone is or isn't buying at the moment. That could be true but I doubt that any of them do any research aside from what's been selling there. Idk why I felt compelled to write all this but ultimately I'm not sold on this place nor do I never want to go back. Maybe I'll but something next time.

I've been shopping here for many years and I notice as the years go on their prices have increased and their selection has decreased.. I rarely shop here anymore, but still pop in once in a blue, I just don't see too much of anything I like anymore.. maybe its because everyone shops here, who knows.. but I mean, the women's selection is ridiculous. maybe they need to add more clothes in the men's department...

Won't buy anything I had, including new, unworn, with tags, Italian designer. I was told the pants I was trying to sell were not in style and worn out. I seen at least five pars of denim shorts just like the ones I had. I even seen clothes with stains and broken zippers. I could not sell anything though. Shopping there is pretty cool. I only walked out with one skirt.

I've bought and sold clothes at Buffalo Exchange. Even though you may feel like some of their offers are low, the fact that they'll take a wide variety of types of clothing/brands, without an appointment, makes them a great alternative to finding time to take your things to some of the more high end consignment shops. When it comes to buying, the selection can be a little all over the place. I did, however, get my all time favorite Ghostbusters sweatshirt from this location, so I'll always give them a shot when I'm browsing.

I've picked up a few pieces I liked from here at a reasonable (but not bargain) price before. I have plenty of experiences here as I am in the area often and have been living in Philly my whole life, but this store is nothing exceptional in my opinion. It's quite strange because they're generally friendly, although you do get that vibe that everyone there is in a hipster-quirky clique and aren't quite as welcoming to others unlike them. Don't bother trying to apply for a job there if you don't look like, dress like, or have mannerisms like them. From a business point of view, their products are not particularly high-quality nor excellent condition items. I have both shopped there and sold there, and many times I feel that what I'm trying to sell is 10x better than the clearly worn, cheaply made, and unattractive pieces they have on their racks. There definitely is a gem there once in a while though, which is the only thing that keeps me going back. When shopping there though, I have encountered a bedbug on one of their clothing items once. FREAKY. So be very careful to inspect your merchandise, especially before you try on.

The only reason why I don't give a five star is that they are somewhat pricey. They haven't always been that way I don't know what happen to them. Maybe it's because people made them what they are today? Maybe their clothes are trendy? Niece clothes other people bring them, still a second hand shop. They only give %15 back to the cosigners

I went to sell a duffle bag mostly full of t-shirts, with a few button ups, knit shirts, shorts, and jeans. They bought everything and gave me a check for over $200. My tees were mostly graphics with band shirts and brands like Mishka, Bow3ry, Hurley, Goblyn Crew, Rip n Dip, Scetchy Tank, and lesser known artist designs creating pop culture parody and spoofs.

I used to love BE, but some of the buyers can be condescending and dismissive, and given how selective they are I'd rather just shop anyway. They do have some gems from time to time though. Like the mint aqua Bo Jackson Nikes I got for $25, or the $200 Armani watch I picked up for $28.

I've heard about this place and I wonder if they would buy the clothes I have which are in perfect shape. I gained alot of weight last year and now this year I'm stuck with so many things that don't fit anymore. My clothes are expensive and not cheap AT ALL! From lucky brand jeans to Nike sweatsuits. By the way, there all men's clothing. I should have found this before I gave away a whole lot of stuff, ugh... I need to find out if I could get money for the stuff I have left, which is still quite alot.

It's actually a nice store you can find hidden gems like ( Banana Republic, Gucci, Calvin Klein, and etc) you just have to go frequently because people sell their stuff on a daily basis.

I go for the pocket books and have purchased a pair boots by Free People and a Makowsky bag. There were a pair boots by Vintage that I would have liked to have purchased; however, they were string up boots and the senser was attached to the the shoe lace. The sells person, would not remove the senser. The B Makowsky bag and Free People booties that I purchased, did not have a senser and they mybe sold in the store for around $200.00 or more for the bag.

The staff was very friendly but the guy who be answering calls is giving out wrong information I asked him do they take anything brand name he said yes then got there they don’t take name brand clothes they will take shoes but not name brand like hmm forever21 n American eagle I was really lil upset because I had a lot of clothes to give they wouldn’t take n it was in good condition n they get u but getting 150 store credit or take 95 in cash for experience I had today I Suggest people to just donate /sell shoes…..

The staff is good, BUT when I went to your store in Philadelphia two days ago and stood in line for 25 minutes to make a rather large purchase. Finally, I gave up when I realized that there is NO SIGN to indicate that the line I was standing in, was the WRONG line...the one to SELL. I walked out.
