Reviews of Plato's Closet Nashville
People are always bitter about clothes not being bought at any Plato’s but my bigger issue is that there’s never a lot of options for women bigger than a size medium. XS-M racks are always filled to the brim with clothes but even if you’re just a size 10-12 you’re gonna have a hard time finding things. I want to say it’s because people don’t bring in enough of those sizes but I believe that thinking would be naive, especially based on things I’ve seen while buying at the store.
The selling experience was confusing. This location or that, we never received any texts after waiting for close to an hour. Same story as that of many others, when inquiring, we were told that they couldn’t find our bag no more and the clothes were most likely donated, but we will get $2 for what was taken. It’s fine, fashion is subjective, but where on earth are they donating my festive crocheted crop tops to…? They are neither warm nor practical. Genuinely curious. Nonetheless, they do have a good selection of brand named clothing for all seasons and we always left with some good finds, oh and whatever impractical clothing that we failed to sell.
This Plato’s has uniquely bad business issues…
I am a Platos customer at various other locations. The great thing about Platos is trying on vast variety of styles at a value price. First it’s awkward to shop at at this Plato’s because they place small sizes up high at top racks, and large sizes nearest the floor - long reaches or positions for customers Next there was so excessively much inventory that when pulling out an item that catches your eye, out drop several more Inadvertently because too much is crammed with hangers tangled causing wasted shopping time attempting to place the unwanted back into the over-crowded racks. Employees are so busy dealing with the mass amount of inventory they often don’t look at approaching customers, instead loudly barking same sales spiel or repeating fitting room rules. Two of the six articles tried on were stained - not little marks but multi apparent stains, so when handing back my dressing room rejects, handed soiled items separately so they may set aside. Female fitting room clerk rudely dismissed what I said and stuck the soiled items with others returning to the over packed racks. Thinking she may have been so busy she wasn’t hearing me I mentioned it to the male clerk and he also dismissed my statements in a cocky manner. Stained clothes might be acceptable from a 25 cent bargain bin at a non-profit, but tagged $18 each? Why present bad when place is to the brim with other inventory? Not noticing dirty stained items until pulled over your head does leave a gross feeling about the place. Despite all this I was still going recommend the store - just inspect your items thoroughly and ignore the obnoxious clerks.
However after just reading all the other reviews where customers were mistreated by staff with zero customer service ability, and reading there is another Plato’s in the area, my advice is go elsewhere. These owners and staff blatantly prefer being rude and do not care for our business.
FYI If you do make a purchase here, they will start texting you too often with sales that are no big deal. Return the word “STOP”to opt out.
Cool store for good quality second hand clothing.
Found what I came for in less than 5 minutes...and then I found more cool clothes! I’m going back tomorrow when I have more time.
They always have a big selection and its more affordable than shopping first-hand. As it is with any used clothing store, you have to take a little more time to browse and try on but its always worth it when you find the right piece. The staff is very laid back but they've never been rude. Most people say that Plato's Closet doesn't take any of their clothes, but every time I've dropped something off they've always taken at least a few items. I've had more luck with bringing in smaller batches of clothing, rather than one large bag.
Its all messed up at the store, tried selling new sneakers, in good condition and all they wanted to pay for 5 brand new nike sneakers was $200, very absurd, just one of the sneakers cost about the price they willing to pay for all 5.. Most stupid store ever
The actual process of selling is very easy and convenient, however, this place only takes cheap brands and very used clothes. I brought 3 big bags full of name brand items, some with tags still on (Banana Republic, Gap, Loft, Ann Taylor) and they only took Forever 21 and American Eagle items that were in such bad condition that I was embarrassed to bring them in and was going to take them to Goodwill. Don’t bring nice clothes here and be disappointed.
Huge variety and well organized. I always love looking at the workers' different looks for inspiration
The staff are always willing to go the extra mile, especially when you're looking for something from a post on their Instagram (@platosclosetnashville) or you have a special occasion. Either way, I almost always find what I need especially considering the wide variety of clothing styles they carry. The prices are never bad and you always get clothing that has been hand-selected to go in the store, I would recommend to anyone!
Amaze was so kind and helpful! Thanks to the team in west nashville for a great experience, and for donating the clothes I didn’t want!
Ok selection. Went looking for shorts for my husband and there wasn't a whole lot to choose from. It is Summer, so I'm sure the selection is smaller. We feel like the Bell Rd store has an all around larger selection. Still an ok store.
i really like their selection as a buyer. the selling process is somewhat picky though its not that big of a deal. the only real problem i have with this location is the staff. they're rude and honestly judgmental. theres some really nice people there but not at the register.
Easy selling experience. I tried to sell anything Buffalo Exchange wouldn't take, and it paid off. They didn't buy everything, but I planned to give the stuff away regardless, so anything was a win. Would try selling here again.
I went there over a year ago and had a good experience just couldn’t find cute clothes
I stopped here today and was wowed by the selection! Beautiful brand name things. Not as cheap as some other PCs, but definitely better quality. They even have bath bombs!
Love this location they always buy!
Iza provided exceptional service and was polite and personable! She made my experience at Plato's one that will keep me coming back.
i didn't get what i was looking for and some of the things they have were very worn and i recommend bringing in clothes a little at a time so that they will actually look at your stuff and they might possibly take some
amazing brands like lululemon, brandy melville, gym shark, urban outfitters, etc. super clean and very good customer service!
So the girls where sweet the store had great stuff it was just over priced compared to other Plato's I was a little surprised but that but otherwise great store
This is the first time I have been in the store. I was very impressed over the quality of the clothes
Platos Closet is an incredible foundation, and I am so glad I work here!
Great woman's selection. Always has a small men's section. Nice people.
