I went here the first time in May with my family and it’s out favorite thrift store ever. Low prices, amazing clothes, and we love how they donate portions of their profit.

A great little thrift shop! They don't have the clothing selection size of other stores but they have lots of cool stuff. I generally wear all black and they did not have a large selection of black clothing so not really the store for goths. However, I did find a few things for myself and my husband. We found a SodaStream for $10 and a new designer bag worth $130 for $12. They carry plus sizes but the selection is best for people who wear a small up to XL, particularly for smaller people. They do have changing rooms to try clothing on.

A neato thrift spot! The staff is friendly, they have a good selection of clothing and accessories, plus you can bag up stuff how you wanna. After paying, there's a self service bagging station with loads of paper bag options. Worth a visit for the building alone! I'm p sure it used to be an old theater.

I love that this giant thrift store is in an old theater, however it is quite overwhelming how large it is, how many people are there, and how much stuff there is to look through. Not the best organization of items. Some interesting pieces of art here and lots of second hand books.

Great resale shop that is also for a great cause. Found a cute dress. There are sections for books, DVDs, clothes, furniture, housewares, and a little jewelry. Staff were very friendly.

Andersonville pleasently surprised me. I don't know what I like more, the fact it was once a theater or that you may find a hidden gem. Of course, I fully support and like that all proceeds benefits LGBTQ health and fund care at the Howard Brown Care. My only hope is that they preserve this location or help restore the interior. We found some nice Gucci kitten heels at a bargain price that need to be resoled to look brand new.

Like most second hand stores, most of the items aren’t worth very much, but the place has the items marked to good prices. What is amazing about this building is how pretty the space itself is! And then you finally start looking at the items they are selling and realize that people buy some crazy stuff!!

This is a great place and much larger than I expected it to be. There's 3 different rooms where stuff is. It's in a beautiful old theater and you can still see the statues on the walls, it's very cool. The pricing is amazing! There's tons of great stuff and the staff was friendly. Loved the disco ball too.

I've had some great finds here over the years. Mid tier and high end designer clothes are mixed in with the rest. Capital d design level furniture. I think they get the good stuff because they support a good cause. Donate your good stuff here, everyone else does and it shows. Staff is nice. Staff across the board have a great style, so that good taste probably contributes to the good selection of items on offer.

The store is organized with a lot of books, DVDs, and some clothes. There are some furniture pieces and glassware as well. I don't know the store's stocking days, but it seemed a little empty when I went. Purchases you make from the store can help different charities/help organizations. You also have the option to donate at the register 😄

Staff is always friendly and fair about prices. Some days I don't find much but others I find some real gems, so it's all about stopping in whenever you can. I always love browsing the vinyls and books. I've also found some really nice clothes here. Not for super cheap but still a bargain for some of the brand names you find.

Always fun coming here, and selection changes frequently. The deals are one of the best parts. Every day is something new, like 30% off furniture, half off frames & art, 60% off clothes. I live in the area and usually end up buying something weekly. It's also nice knowing my money is going to a good cause. Also I always like taking out of towners here, it's such a neat space!

I have been going to the Brown Elephant for years. I absolutely love this place! There is always something cool and unusual to be found here. The clothing section is hit or miss usually. When I do find something, it's usually fantastic and cheap. If you are looking for housewares of any kind, definitely check out this place as they always have a great selection. The staff is always friendly and helpful, especially the cashiers. I've never left here unhappy or regretted a purchase.

One of my favorites. Such a cool location inside an old Chicago theatre. Bare bones, they have not tried to restore any of it and I absolutely love that vibe. Lots of furniture. Not as many clothes as the Lakeview location but still quality items!

As with any consignment/thrift store, this place can be hit or miss. I had to go here about four times before finding a couch I really liked, but it was so worth the wait! The couch I finally snagged was even half off because they were having a Halloween sale.

Do not come here with a specific item you want to buy, I just go to look around and if something catches my eye I will get it. The staff are very friendly and items are overly priced

You will never leave the Brown Elephant empty handed. From the quirky to the necessary... they have it all. Aside from the good community services it provides with the money raised, the Brown Elephant can help you furnish your apartment with style and flair. I have found high end coffee makers to fantastic unusual prints. Street parking is relatively easy. The customer service is outstanding! My fave find - a geisha like kimono. Check it out. You wont be disappointed.

The Brown Elephant is really great. It offers some quality items that arent super expensive. I bought a blue blazer for $9 one time. I think that this is one of the best places to buy resale clothes on the North Shore. I haven't found a better place.

Always good for a quick run through because you never know what little treasure you might find. I wish they still had the location on Halsted in Boystown open bc I always found great items there. I never go to the new location bc its not really easy to get to and I typically never need to shop in that area. So this location will do. The building is very interesting and makes you wonder about its previous occupants. Prices aren't really a bargin but they aren't over priced either. They do have new product all the time. Rarely do I see the same items that I saw on previous visit.

My favorite weekend days of any season consist of a trip or two to The Brown Elephant in Andersonville. You not only leave with some pretty wonderful stuff at some pretty low prices, you leave feeling great because of how you were treated. The people that run that store are just beautiful - and I don't just mean on the outside. And your helping an incredible organization provide really important and vital services. Services that I myself am proud to have used. Ah - community. Works better than most people think doesn't it?

This isn't someplace I go for "enjoyment." I don't buy things here. I donate things. It helps support a local health clinic, so it beats just tossing serviceable items into the trash. I avoid the Salvation Army like the plague because of their anti-gay stance and religious proselytizing. The Brown Elephant is a great place for your resale charity efforts; they don't discriminate.

I don’t visit this location as often as the one in Lakeview, but I like it just as much. I’ve never had a bad experience here, even when I wasn’t able to find what I wanted that time. It’s a bit bigger than the Lakeview location but the basic environment is the same. With a patient attitude and enough time, you can find something really good for relatively cheap.
