Reviews of Second Chance Inc.
Milan Patel
I learned about Second Chance through my builder. The process was amazingly simple. The crew took about 3 weeks to deconstruct my home. They take every piece of the house they can salvage. There is probably 80 percent less rumble that will get taken away which means less demo costs and better for the environment.
They were careful and amazingly polite. They allowed my family to come in every night to show the process and when it got too dangerous they escorted us around the property. This is a great company with a good mission

This place is a furniture thrifting dreamland. Everything is fairly priced and sometimes free. The only thing is that is super hot and there is no central air. They have a few fans but prepare to sweat 😅 and have lots of fun! …

A must-go whether you live in the area or just visiting. Great store with an even greater mission. A unique combination of a thrift store, salvage warehouse, construction material, bath and kitchen center, furniture and lighting store, antique shop, a non-profit, and a vocational school. Great bargains , unique pieces, professional and helpful staff, and a fun experience.

Environmentally and Socially-conscious retail warehouse that sells reused and donated household items, furnishings, and building materials. You can find some great deals here, however IMO some of the price points on some of the items I viewed were pretty high and I wouldn’t consider a deal or bargain (such as ($1200 and $1800 chandeliers and light fixtures). I do intend to go back for a more thorough look around because I do love finding great items for a deal. I would definitely recommend going for a visit. You never know what steal or what unique piece you might find.
Second Chance was founded in 2001 to develop solutions to sustainable employment and environmental issues.
It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides people, materials and the environment with a second chance. They deconstruct buildings and homes, salvage usable materials, and make those and other donated items available to the public for reuse at their more than 200,000 sq ft warehouse. With the revenue generated, they provide job training and workforce development for those with various employment obstacles in the Baltimore region.
They are open Thursday through Sunday from 9am-5pm.

Creatively designed and laid out store with lots of beautiful reclaimed pieces. From window frames and doors to couches and dining sets, they have it all; we are walking away with so many project ideas and will definitely be back.

If you are looking for something for something to update your place, start here. Huge warehouse full of unique and common items. It’s worth a visit just to walk around and see all the collectibles from old buildings (marble, windows, doors, mantels, shutters, lights) and appliances (refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, washing machines, restaurant gear). You’ll find hundreds of pieces of furniture. This place is an “experience” and worth a couple hours of walking around to make sure you don’t miss anything.

I had an excellent experience with Second Chance doing a full deconstruction of an Arlington home. Everybody I worked with, including their appraisal partner, was 10/10 professional, responsive, and helpful. I'd like to give particular kudos to Jennings and Woody for their work. They also worked incredibly quickly and efficiently. I spoke with them on Oct 27 and the job was completed on Nov 29! With all of my questions/concerns sufficiently answered. I highly recommend Second Chance.

Donating an appliance like a Gas Range online was easy. The response to submitting the form for review and acceptance was incredibly fast. Scheduling the date to pick was reasonable, even they would move up the schedule if any vacancy falls open.
On the day of pick up, the truck rolls up in front of your property, the guys knocks the door and introduce professionally who they are, take a look at the item - as to where its located and wrap it up with plastic and haul away, leaving behind a receipt for your donation.
The guys were very friendly and appreciative of the donation.

Wow, this place is full of wonders. Was looking for a large bookshelf but I might end up building one from the reclaimed wood they have in stock, as well. Good to just walk around and get a taste of things. And you can bring your dog!
William Cox
The team does great work for and in the community. The team working the warehouse are helpful and polite. We had a great time looking around, gaining new ideas and buying some items to use is a new and useful way.

If you're looking for antique furniture small & large this is the place to go. Large Statues & angels. They have huge lovely dining room sets seat 4 to 12. Large chandeliers. Cabinets, desks, beds, dressers etc this place is huge warehouse.
Rae Shaw
I was pleasantly surprised by this place! It’s truly a hidden gem! Unlike most resale shops, this place was incredibly well organized and had a lot of really great things. Also, the staff was wonderfully helpful and friendly!
Rose Gibbs
It's not actually a thrift store in the usual sense. Think of this place as a really, really, really big ReStore. It has a ton of things that your "normal" thrift just doesn't (built-in bookcases that they took out of a house for example) and their beginning prices are closer to retail than GW. They do adopt the SA model of reducing the price if an item sits for a while but again, not to the extent that you could call anything here a true bargain. A decent price - yes. A steal - not on your life.
They do have items for building, some of which might be hard to find so if you consider this a lower than average priced salvage yard, you probably won't be disappointed. Either way, it's a decent enough place to look for that hard to find vintage building item, just don't expect air conditioning - they have fans.
Tedd Henn
One of my favorite stores ever. Whether you’re looking for shutters for your windows, old fancy bathroom sinks, or just about anything else that has ever been put into a house, Second Chance is the spot. Most of the items have seen life elsewhere and the prices slide down the longer it’s in the store so you can definitely find a deal or two. The best part of the place is the one of a kind stuff. Like the old Bel-Loc Diner sign or the university of Maryland Cole Field House wood floor that spells Maryland. They have so many pieces of intact stained glass and wall candle sconces you can practically build your own gothic castle from their stock. And if you’re just visiting, a trip to Baltimore is just not complete without a visit to Second Chance.
Thom Verratti
Still open Thur-Sun and plenty of room for social distancing . . . . Fantastic architectural salvage. Seriously mind-bending selection. Wish I had space (and a reason) for a pink onyx 12-foot vanity or a vintage diner range. Can't wait to visit w/o a mask!! 😷 …

beautiful place!!! highly recommend!!!! but it's high!!! price point is stupid on most of the items

We have had to slow down our trips up to b'more and second chance, as we are fully stocked for projects for the next decade, and yet... We can't (or don't) help ourselves.
For practical matters, we have sourced a new counter for our old kitchen from here, windows, doors, a gas fireplace insert (new,$5k. My price: $300.) the bosch dishwasher that is currently humming along in the kitchen...
Impractically, I've lusted after pianos, sewing machines (they had a necchi in it's cabinet last weekend), rocking chairs, funky sofas, sleek kitchen cabinets, wrought iron... I'm a maximalist on a minimalist budget.
Below are pictures of things I wanted, but not badly enough to put them on the credit card. All of the
The bathrooms are recently updated (the old ones would have been right at home in a gas station). It is stifling hot in the summer, and wicked cold in the winter - it is a warehouse, there is only so much they can do. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a truck. You never know what you will find, but you will find something.
Lewis Winston
This place is awesome!! You could spend a whole day in this 200,000 sf piece of paradise. So much to reuse here that its hard to believe. Now that I know it exists I'll be back with a shopping list. Wood floor, appliances, cabinets, furniture, railings, artwork, sinks.......it goes on. You have to go if you want to find a piece to reuse or repurpose.
Ted Burkett
A totally unique experience - 20 times the size of habitat stores furniture and fixtures from deconstructed mansion and hotels alike. Tools appliances chandeliers galore free to look and a perfect weekend afternoon.
Juliana DeLion
I am so grateful to the management of Second Chance. Thankyou for supporting the community by sharing discarded items. I am on a fixed income. Home repairs are made possible by Second Chance's generosity in allowing the community to pick up lumber and any kind of home fix needs. Thankyou
Richard Boly
Love the mission of this place and enjoy browsing. Got a great set of hardwood TV tables.
Bianca S
Love this place you can find all sorts of things for your home improvement projects here. They get items from homes being demolished so you can buy them at a low coast and give them a new life. You can even find historical items from Baltimore and the dmv, really a great cause. The stock is always changing so what your looking for may not be here today but in a week or two it could show up.
Marnie Boyer
We used Second Chance to deconstruct the existing home on the property where we will build a new home in Bethesda. Our builder suggested Second Chance and we loved the idea that the materials would be reused (and not go to the landfill) and that there would be on-the-job skill development. After several delays on my end, Second Chance showed up when scheduled and did a great job at reclaiming all of the interior materials (ducts, appliances, hardwood floors, cabinets, bathroom materials, etc.) and all of the exterior materials (windows, doors, joists, rafters, etc.)
I would run by the house almost every day and see everyone working hard and taking care of the materials and my property.
I put pictures in below. You can see the pictures before & after don't look all that different as they cannot reclaim the brick but everything else is removed. The inside shot shows what it looked like at the end when all of the usable materials were removed. The other shot is of the reusable materials wrapped up nicely to be removed carefully.
Thanks Second Chance!
Kimberlyn Lopez
Found this place by a volunteering opportunity. It has a great mission and there is nothing you can't find here. The place is enormous and I will definitely be coming back to purchase some furniture.

I went to Second Chance with my daughter, Deyara, and her husband, Darius. They were looking for a few items for their home and I needed a desk. This price was great. The staff friendly, professional, and helpful. I would recommend them any day for anything from home improvement projects to household items you need.

A treasure trove of old house treasures. Gorgeous original antiques from Victorian mansions, including bureaux, hutches, wardrobes, doors, windows, mantels, lights, lumber and flooring. You can spend hours lost in here.
Some of the mass-produced pieces from the nineties are overpriced, as are many pieces that are very damaged which could be purchased new for less than the cost of repair. For example, a dilapidated old trunk with someone’s name painted on it and collapsing walls and rusty hardware was marked at $100 and I just don’t know who would buy and use that. Other examples are cabinets with glass panes or shelves missing. To be truly eco friendly and change how we consume, this place could either do the repairs and charge a higher price or drop the prices much lower so we can do the repairs ourselves to compete with similar mass-produced stuff flooding the home goods market.

We found the cutest vintage area rug that was the perfect size of the hallway. Well woven and sturdy. Cleaned it with a carpet cleaning vaccume a few times....but a feel great buy that services a purpose! Love this place!
Debbie Rodgers
AARON and all of the team members are extremely helpful and made our experience seemless and enjoyable. We definitely recommend Second Chance for affordable home renovations. Thanks again and we will be back!

Rufus helped me purchase a sweet dresser and Dean helped me put it in my car. Love this place, 5/5. Super friendly people and great furniture for a good price.
Travis Anything
I really liked checking everything out there, but a lot of the stuff was really expensive. I’m more used to thrift stores while this was more of an antique shop. Like I said though, really great stuff to check out, just gotta be willing to pay for it.
Ryan Pennell
I chose 2nd Chance for my deconstruction project after speaking with a number of different charity organizations. Their professionalism and responsiveness set them apart from the rest. I mainly dealt with Ryan Mariman and he was with me every step of the way and answered all of my questions thoroughly.
They were able to work around my schedule and completed the work in the allotted time frame I had given them. The on-site team was wonderful and all of my neighbors commented on how clean and orderly the project went.
I highly recommend 2nd Chance for all deconstruction projects.

This place is always worth the trip. You'll find things you didn't know you needed and then wonder why you didn't stop here first when looking for furniture, decorative items, building materials, etc.
Nicholas Miles
so much great stuff ☺️
Jerry E.
Great place to just walk around and find new additions to the home or project wood
Beth Thomas
Such a Treasure Trove of stuff! Baby grand pianos, stained glass windows, beautiful old doors and furniture and windows and sculptues and lamps , so Many Beautiful Things!
Steven Ackerson
Visited for the first time yesterday. Amazing concept and all for good. The world needs more places like this with the ability to recycle, up cycle and reuse perfectly good products and materials. I purchased four outdoor wall mount lamps that came from the old Philadelphia convention center. So cool and I plan to be a regular visitor going forward. Who needs big box stores with Second Chance, a Baltimore icon!
Robert Kowalewski
Must go visit if you are remodeling an old home or a great "find". You also support an amazing business that gives people a second chance too!
Paul Ervin, Jr.
So many unique quality products. Prices are fantastic
Guenever Aldrich
This store is always an adventure. You never know what you will find. Just be aware of pricing, some of their prices are at or above retail.
S Bee
Beautiful. Flat, but uneven ground. Bathrooms are far from the entrance but are clean and stocked. Staff are wearing clothing with logos so they're easily identifiable. They're everywhere, so friendly, knowledgeable, and fun even just to greet in passing.
Items are neat, organized, clean, and clearly labeled for prices and terms. There's a great mix of treasures to find at all styles and price points. So many incredible finds here, plan to make more than one trip! Head over on a rainy day and you'll pass the time before you know it.
Jasper Wilkerson
Just came here the other day and got all my apartment furniture for less than 150 dollars! Ralph was super helpful and always asked if we needed help carrying things or finding something. Everyone here is super nice, I love this place
D Henley
Used, high quality items for your home, at decent prices. What's not to like?
Edward Cotton
It sets the bar for a rehab store. All the others stores could learn something from these guys. Like walking in a museum of the history of baltimore and its all for sale.
Daniel Beahn
Great place, lots of unique items and good prices on wood, flooring, pavers, etc.
Lloyd Marshall
Well I will give second Chance a five star the place is clean and stuff that they can use or overdue they sit outside and give it away for free which is outstand and helping the needy I give my five star cuz they're getting back to society that way to help people out that don't have I'm trying to rebuild
Nicson Lebrun
The spectrum of building materials available there really fit their name: buyers give their stuff a second opportunity to be useful! Hoping to alleviate our discomfort while on zoom for long hours, l bought a pair of office chairs there. One for me and the other for my wife. I love the price but the interior designer wife of mine thinks that they don’t fit into her schema of our place’s furnishings. However, after trying hers, she said that it’s really comfortable. So I like the price and we both like the comfort, it’s a triple win!
Brinn Matthews
Best place in the city for used nice up to very high end furniture
Andrew Leonard
A really cool place to go if you're in a bind to fix something or have a unique home improvement project.
John Collins
What a great place to find hidden treasures! Lots of interesting things salvaged from lots of different kinds of building and homes from around Baltimore and surrounding areas. Even found a local icon.
Carmel Courtright
What a find! It is just amazing the things that are here. So many interesting pieces, and so affordable.
A. McCullough
This is a great place to get used household items. However, please inspect potential purchases carefully to determine their manufacturer and research their actual costs because sometimes 2nd chance has priced the item close to what it would cost new. Also, check all lighting fixtures to ensure that they have their brackets, or else you will have to buy those things separately, which is not always easy with antique items. The really nice high-end furniture goes quickly, so be prepared to pay on the spot.
Marietta Dawson
This place is crazy cool. The selection is an eclectic mix of fun and practical finds.
Gloria Coliton
Very unique place. If you have home projects, highly recommend checking them out. Have gotten some fantastic deals over the years. Staff are friendly and very helpful.
Aaron Pryor
This place is amazing! Always interesting stuff from around Maryland
Martin Lotz III
Great mission! And quality building materials available. Staff was super friendly.
mark williams
Even if you don't buy anything this is a great place to just walk through. Lots of old furniture, knick knacks, tools, building materials, and much more. All reasonably priced and if you buy something the staff is very helpful. Kind of like an antique store and yard sale all rolled up into one!
S Cornoyer
Great place to find reclaimed lumber and housing materials. We installed a hard wood floor from reclaimed flooring from here!😃 …
Salvo Vitale
I love this place, the concept of giving a second chance to things and people is really insipring, people are contributing their from all over the Country and you can find some really unique pieces there!
Geoffrey Hart
Second chance is someplace everyone with a home in Baltimore needs to visit from time to time. Treasures are waiting to be found. I won't say that the treasure is easy to find as it may be mixed in with a lot of "stuff". Yet if you take the time to explore and remain open to the possibilities, you just may find exactly what you never knew you needed. As for me, in perfect solutions for problems in my garden and great ideas for the next home improvement project. I pray you'll have a similar experience soon!
Mary
Some of the prices are a little high for being used furniture but over all its n OK place to get Stuff to fix up your house like sinks, tubs, showers , toilets plus more......
Janice West
There is a surprise in every isle. Old, used and new items everywhere. It was fun looking.
Jennifer Harris
Loved this unique 2nd hand warehouse. Some prices I thought were expensive but others were amazing. Definitely worth a trip. People in store were friendly to help. Free parking.
Kendra F.
My experience with Second Chance was phenomenal. I will be in touch, if I am able to donate more and will recommend them to others.
Jess was very prompt in replying and scheduling a pick up time that fit my schedule, which is not currently very flexible. The gentlemen arrived promptly, everyone wore masks, they were quick and courteous.
I really appreciated Second Chance’s ability to pick-up on a scheduled date/time, without fees, and without my having to move furniture outdoors where it could be taken before they arrived or ruined by the elements.
Jw Carroll
Great place with lots of good things. Always find something nice there and it's a good value
Brenda Boucher
If you are hunting for unique reclaimed architecture, appliances or even furniture this is the place to go! It is a charitable organization too!!
Jill W
Great place to go for second hand items to restore your home. The place is huge with a great variety of home items to choose from to include, furniture, garden items, kitchen appliances, lighting, lumber, etc. Will definitely be back, even if I don't need anything, it is fun to stroll through.
Jeff O
A great source of lumber that is actually straight and true for half the cost of anywhere else. Hardwood floors as well. If you are a DIYer, give them a look and support a great company doing the community a great service by recycling materials and providing jobs and training to folks in need of a second chance.
Monalisa Diallo
What Ana amazing experience. After finding out I had breast cancer today, all I wanted to do was enjoy my friends and eat great food...so enjoyed myself!!! Thank you to staff and owner for making may Fay wonderful!!!
Tom Cozzens
Second Chance Inc. has an extensive collection of reclaimed vintage house materials, unique statues ~ Etc.!!!
John Baase
We love the business model, the helping those who've paid their debt to society get back on their feet, and the wonders of items that come and go. Even, long after we finish furnishing our new house, this will be my go-to for project materials and home repair supplies. I wish I had more than one house to simply decorate with mix'n match items from here. I've recommended to co-workers and am hoping to build a good following to Second Chance.
Kenneth Guest
Nice place to get stuff house hold at a good price
Amber Bernal
Had so much fun shopping here there is so much to see! Couldn't find something exactly as imagined - the hunt for a suitable alternative involved hours of peering through every section, getting lost and finding each other again and then finding the way back to share what we found while apart. Left satisfied. I found a beautiful antique sideboard. It doesn't match anything but is so well crafted it can stand on its own and fits the space and purpose perfectly.
Mellar Blake
My brother in Law told me about second chance. I went there this weekend to find some lumber and other building materials. While they had a large variety of lumber they didn't have what I needed, but I discovered they had kitchen and bathroom cabinets, sinks, furniture and a large selection of other household goods. They even had appliances this place is fully loaded. I loved it. The staff was very friendly and helpful I will be returning for sure. I hope the beautiful vanity that I saw is still there when I do.
ben adams
Such a cool place, just walk around and have your mind blown
Dina Shahmohammadi
Always find interesting things. SometimesbI even take some home!
Maksym Petrenko
I have been to this place a couple of times and have somewhat mixed feelings. On one hand, this place is like a treasure chest and it is very cool to just browse around and muse about random eclectic things. I also love that you can find spare parts for some of the older items in my house that otherwise would be impossible to repair or require a couple of months of watching over Craigslist and ebay.
On the other hand, you have unreasonable pricing on many items, an over-complicated buying process, and attitudes of some of the staffers, which makes it about as enjoyable as shopping a used car dealership.
First the pricing. While some of the things are bargain-priced according to the age and state of the item, many of the things, however beaten up and old, are priced about 75% of a comparable brand new item. To my mind going lower would significantly increase the turnover and free up the storage space. It might also make sense to permit discretionary discounts on the things that sit on the floor for too long. This brings me to my second point.
While the majority of the staffers, especially the loading/moving guys, are super friendly and always helpful, I seem to always get at least one or two people further up the chain trying to “stick it to the men”. From trying to find a floor manager for 30 minutes, to the manager doing “I appraise this at $250, but willing to go down to $130 or two for $250” stunt on an item without sticker in the $50-100/pair row, to the supervisor “it costs this much because I said so” and absolutely refusing to even consider the alternatives, to being schooled for taking a cart to the checkout because the loader couldn’t leave the assigned area and the floor managers didn’t seem to care (why not just use walkies-talkies and make the checkout transparent to the customer?).
At the end of the day, I did get what I needed for $80/pair, but it took me 3 trips to the store, several months of waiting for the inventory to produce a correct sticker, and required dealing with the fussy staff. It should not be this complicated. I will continue going to the store when I can’t find what I need on Craiglist or ebay. However, I would suggest lowering the expectations and get ready to be very, very patient along the way.
Kevin Green
Never know what you'll find here. Got a decent office chair for $30.
Susan H.
I enjoy seeing what's available in this museum /building supply/furniture store. Found dining set and 2 end tables. Worth exploring first for anything home related.
J.T. Carhart
We used Second Chance to deconstruct our older home with the intention to donate the materials for a chance at a second life! Second Chance showed up when scheduled and did a great job at reclaiming all of the interior materials (hardwood floors, cabinets, bathroom materials, etc.) and all of the exterior materials (windows, doors, joists, rafters, etc.) Knowing that all of those items will get reused (potentially in a Habitat for Humanity home) made us feel great about our decision to donate.
We also loved the fact that our home was used for on-the-job skill building as well, which is a pillar of Second Chance's mission. I showed up on a few of the deconstruction days and enjoyed talking with members of the Second Chance team, all who had a smile on their face and were very open to talking to me about the process and just life in general!
Very happy with the end result!
Daniel Reed
This place deserves it's own zip code. I still have never bought anything from here but have gone half a dozen times. If you're at all curious give yourself 2-3 hours to wander.
Diane Bullock
I love, love, love this place! I have found some of the most unique and beautiful pieces here. From antique dressers, new armoire, bedframes, lamps, vases, you name it! I transformed some of the items, and just cleaned and kept the others as they were. You can find pretty much everything here. Whether you need something for your home, to furnish a newly started business, or if you are like me and love unique, quirky, and beautiful items, Second Chance is the place to find them.. Also,, the staff is very helpful and always polite.
Javon Burden
My Adult toy store! I love love love love this place. I always find the best deals for my home projects! You need a little patience with the staff; not the best customer service… just focus on the fact that you’re getting a good deal.
Mike Otterman
2nd Chance did an amazingly thorough and professional deconstruction of our 2-family house in Brooklyn, NY, while at the same time providing critical workforce training to those hoping to learn this important craft. I would highly recommend their deconstruction/job training program to homeowners facing a renovation project with a zero-waste lens.
Niki Kreynus
Great staff and really accommodating service. Ms. Rose was a huge help. Great selection of used furniture!
Anji Bedi
Overpriced in my view - a huge warehouse full of second hand household items from furniture to appliances to rugs and odds and ends. An expensive thrift store of sorts.
Edrika
It's always nice to peruse the aisles at Second Chance. You're likely to find something?!
Scott Parker
This place is awesome!!! I went here for the very first time today and they have anything you will ever want and need. I bought 4 bar stools today but I will be spending a lot of time and money here in the future.
Jayesh Jariwala

Love this place! Always great finds!!
Laura Ginsburg
They have lots of architectural products including antique and used fireplaces, stained glass windows, regular windows, doors, flooring, wood shelving, bathtubs, indoor and outdoor furniture and tons more. I love to browse the vast warehouse. If you have an old house, Second Chance will likely have items for you. We were able to get green Spanish roof tile for our 1928 DC duplex. Friendly and efficient staff.
J W
First time and I was amazed! Literally have something for any project you could ever imagine!
Andrew Ollero
Terrific place to find unique furniture and homegoods. It can be overwhelming so take breaks and enjoy all the surprises that encompass Maryland and Baltimore history. They also have building materials! Hooray.
Marian Scott
Its always good to visit second chance
Danny O'Brien
I heard of Second Chance from a neighbor when I was in the process of tearing down a house to build another. What an amazing concept! Their team came and in just 2 weeks, took our house apart piece by piece so that anything that could be reused, recycled or resold was not put to waste. They left our lot perfectly clean and were great to work with from start to finish. And I got a very nice tax deduction for the items from our home that were donated to their worthy cause. They were great to work with from start to finish and I highly recommend them!
Camille Jones
You cannot ask for better service or selection. Mr. Frank White is the ultimate a extension of customer service with a smile along with the entire team. Thank you endlessly for supporting the social work mission!
Beret Mojo
Great place. Excellent furniture collection. All things for home improvements at very discounted prices. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Pamela Hennings
Fun place to explore!
Danielle Donnelly
Hidden gem of Baltimore! Second chance has every type of furniture you could imagine and then some. They also have cheap reclaimed lumber. Everything is secondhand but most of it is really good quality (way better than Ikea furniture) and lower quality items (think scuffs or stains that can be easily fixed) are normally less than $20. Last time I was there I found a beautiful armchair in mint condition for $15. This store is a great way to save some money and be eco friendly at the same time. Be prepared to spend an afternoon just looking at all the stuff!
Leanna Lenae Elliott
always a fun time seeing what they have :D
Denise Hallums
If you've ever been to a recycle - reuse center for household products, Second Chance is basically the same. There are some real deals to be found there, as well as some duds. It all depends on the inventory at the time.
The pricing structure at Second Chance is progressive, with scheduled price decreases caused on how long the item has been in inventory. The schedule for price drops is right on the price tag, which helps patrons determine whether to shop now, or try their luck in a few weeks.
The selection of both kitchen cabinets and toilets is impressive. There are plenty of both in great condition. Regarding the cabinets, the store has a caveat that all cabinets must be purchased together. However, the prices are so good, even if a customer buys twice the number of cabinets needed, the customer is still getting an excellent deal.
Finally, the staff there is excellent; friendly and helpful employees is greater percentages than seen at other retailers.
Carlie Suarez
The warehouse is massive and there's always treasures to find. Almost every staff member will greet you and offer help. Some items are reasonably priced, others have a high price tag. Overall just fun to walk around.
Iman Kholdebarin
It was a pleasure working with Second Chance and support their mission. I worked closely with Ryan Mariman and Gene Metzger on a deconstruction project and they were fantastic in explaining the entire process up front and getting the job done timely. There were no surprises along the way and the team were very responsive and communicated well. I highly recommend working with Second Chance team if you have a deconstruction project.

Can,t beat this place, if you know what you,re looking for
Christopher J Bartlett
Gigantic warehouse full of gently used furniture and other items for your house. The best thing about this place is the pricing system. Each tag has 3 prices on it. If you can wait a few months for whatever you're looking for you get it at half the price they originally asked for. Check it out!
Cheryl Murphy
This place is a haven for persons with repurposing skills; however, I am NOT that person! You can find impeccable deals in their "Last Chance" area- I'm talking $8 for high slipper chairs and $10 for classic armchairs (the latter we just purchased today). It's a huge place and most of the items are very expensive. Most of their inventory are from estates, which may justify the pricing. Nevertheless, if you have the time to look and the patience to wait until the price drops, you will not be disappointed.
Linnea Morres
First time visit. I was quite overwhelmed by the amount of items they had, this was a trip for my father in-laws birthday and they didn't tell me how big it was. I will definitely come back as I got many ideas for home projects and also just for furniture I might purchase! If you are always on the lookout for used furniture or looking for parts for a home project, this is the place to go! You will not be disappointed!

Living on the East Coast for the past decade, I’ve been to a lot of second hand stores and salvage yards.
Honestly one of the best salvage and vintage second stores I’ve ever been too.
Huge facility but immaculately organized and everyone there is friendly and willing to help.
Ms powell
I love this place. You can find anything here. I have a solid wood twin set in a guest room it's over 10 years old, I went here just browsing and found the same bed frame in a full. In better condition than the one I have☺️ Needless to say I was beyond excited and now have matching sets for my guest rooms one twin and one full!!!!!!!!
Patrick Miller
Really cool story about what they do and how they do it. This is a worthy cause and they also sell some amazing things.
Jay Marcus
This place is huge! We loved that they give people a second chance on life skills and they have a lot of used furniture and home products. We will be back.
Adam Baxter
I am a home builder Arlington Virginia and have used Second Chance several times on our projects. Their crews are professional and do an incredible job carefully removing building materials from houses that would otherwise end up in landfills. They will remove everything from cabinets, countertops, wood floors, doors and windows and all the way down to insulation, wire, studs, rafters and floor joists. It’s very gratifying to see all of this perfectly good material find a new home.
I lived in Baltimore City for 12 years before moving to VA. I used to love going to Second Chance, I would spend hours looking at all of the beautiful building materials they have to offer. Again, they have everything you need to build a home. They also have incredibly hard to find antique and vintage building materials so if you are a homeowner/builder looking for a hard to find item...Second Chance should be your first stop. I personally bought reclaimed floor joists from Second Chance to build a beautiful farmhouse kitchen table.
So whether you are a builder or homeowner doing a large demo job and want to recycle material, give Second Chance a call. There are also some very nice tax incentives available and that’s always a good thing!
Bruce Sager
Wow! You remember the vast vault with numberless boxes of goodies at the end of the Indiana Jones movie? Looks like they uncrated 'em here. A marvel.
Mark Swank
Great to walk through and see some of the unique items available. Just about everything you can imagine for most home projects.
Michael Stone
Second Chance is a truly unique store. They sell all sorts of furniture and fixtures from homes and businesses that went under. It is a wonderland of possibilities!
Shane Angus
The team at Second Chance is "Second to None". Pardon the pun, though incredibly deserved. From our initial discussions all the way through to completion the team does a remarkable job. At the job site I followed the teams work along and way - very impressive at each step!
Keep up the great work!
david dobbs
The second chance has a wide variety of used building materials, most of which are in very good condition and available st reasonable prices. These prices decrease the longer second chance holds on to the pieces, so plan on making several visits for something you have your eye on.
Buddy London
Second Chance is a good quality, low cost discount home furnishing and used building material supply store.
They are the HOME DEPOT of discount home furnishing supplies.
!
This is an Outstanding Operation, with .very kind, polite and knowledgeable workers.
The Customer Service is excellent.
The Ridgely Street location is twice the size of any Home Depot by comparison.
The entire store is clean and well organized in sections for easy shopping.
It was a very enjoyable experience shopping there.
THSNK YOU TO THE ENTIRE SECOND CHANCE TEAM!! WELL DONE!😃
Walter Hallman
This is the every city has one place to go for architectural surplus/reuse place. It a great place to visit since that have a little bit of everything. Building and furniture second hand.
Pj Mctavish
P J McTavish & Co Inc has been donating roofing and construction materials to this place for years. It's nice to see things put to use rather than going to the landfill.
Most important are the folks that work there, they are some really nice people. Especially the intake/the folks where you donate. I enjoy seeing these folks and I enjoy TIPPING $ to these folks, I really appreciate them. If you can, donate some small amount of $ or a small gift card to show your appreciation.
Stay Blessed Second Chance
Dave Havener
Awesome warehouse with tons of beautiful and unique items
Lugene Prince
They have Excellent used furniture
Nicholas Hood
I moved put of Baltimore after 25 years to Ohio unfortunately. I work in a renovation remodeling field and often recite, work-wise or leisure based in conversation; the beauty and concept of this place. Lots to see and offer! It is an architectural salvage. Come expecting as much and you'll not be disappointed.
Elliot Glotfelty
Awesome spot and great non profit. Picked up lots of new items for our new house and will be going back soon! Got some end tables, bathroom cabinet, light fixtures, and some decorations.
Reginald Jones
I've never been to this place but I particularly liked this big place simply because if you've ever wanted to or had the desire to "start" over with not just home furnishings, but, also to find antiques, vintage signage, religious statues and artifacts, marble countertops, bathroom items, all sorts and types of chairs, then this is the place to start. I visited this location for about 2 hours just perusing and gathering ideas and thoughts of how I wanted to restart with a focal point in mind. There is practically something there for any and everyone's interests. Visit with an open mind and enjoy the wide array and variety of things you might find. Of course, there's always the "not so great" items; however, still a great place, where the staff and floor associates are willing to answer any questions or concerns you might have. I truly enjoyed this little treasure trove.
Walt Nicholson
Wow. This place has everything. From furnishings to heritage lumber. Plan on being a while. There is so much great stuff!
Sarah Rogers
I'm not sure we visited this location understanding what type of store we were walking into. We were antiquing for the day, and this popped up from my searches. I was surprised at how massive the warehouse was when we showed up, and pretty excited to walk through. It's definitely more salvage than antique, but they still have pretty unique pieces. My problem was with the pricing. We've been on the lookout for stained glass, and to my surprise they had TONS of it. Everything (including very small windows) was in the many thousands of dollars. Maybe the prices are a reflection of the work that the company is trying to accomplish? I now understand they rehabilitate local citizens and give them work as well, which is fantastic. As we walked around to look at other salvaged items, I was continually surprised at the high prices. I think if I had known at the time I was paying a bit of a premium for a good cause, I would have been more open to the prices. But I wouldn't suggest anyone visit this place for a "good deal" on a rare find, you're better off on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
AEMB
Second Chance is a fantastic place for Do It Yourself types; several thousand square feet of old doors, windows, pillars, furniture, and antique restoration pieces.
Why buy new and poorly made when you can restore a piece of American Art that will last forever?
Be sure to have a block of time; this is an excursion!
J. D.
Great place to explore. I was impressed with the vast selection of unique items. They have a ton of chairs, lamps, hardware and just an amazing amount of stuff. Items can be a good deal or overpriced. The price structure lowers the price according to the dates listed on the tags.
Michael Bowers
Incredible retail experience. Feels like a cross between a reclaimed hardware store and a local museum. You can find everything from some decent office chairs that need a new home, building materials sold at incredible prices to unique and irreplaceable artifacts from local history that belong in a museum.
Ayah Almahdi
Well worth the visit. This place is massive & full of hidden treasures. Wear walking shoes and bring wallet. All staff is very helpful and motivated to move product.
MICHAEL Phillips
I spend hours browsing through the store each time I visit because they have so much and the inventory constantly changes. Their selection of doors - hollow and solid, large and small - is amazing. Their collection of hanging lamps is also vast in number and style. Drop by and see for yourself.
Emily Robertson
The best part: this place is enormous , so fun to explore, full of a million things. Some of the prices, especially when things haven’t sold for a few months, can be really good. Some of the workers there are fabulous. When I wanted to buy some graying 4 x 4 beams for the ceiling of my living room I found an amazing deal there for them. When the ones I wanted were towards the bottom of the entire pile, the five or six people that helped with the forklift and moving it and selecting the pieces and putting them into layaway acted perfectly happy and obliging even though I felt like I was being such a pain in the neck for them. I really appreciated their helpfulness.
The bad: lots of things are way overpriced. It’s a little hit and miss in that regard. Some of the people at the front desk could be a little friendlier and during the winter it is colder in the building than outside the building. So be prepared and bundle up.
Nicole Ballou
Amazing refurbished finds !
Colleen Peterson
Great products and customer service. When browsing, staff are available to assist. Wish they would expand operating hours
caspiangreen
An adventurous curiosity warehouse to get inspired. Most importantly, you help our planet by upcycling goods and creating more jobs. I loved this place and will visit there again.
Erin S (MushiSenpai)
Really cool to go around and look at old eclectic things. Or get supplies if you're renovating. Pricing can be a little high to start but decrease over time and they are willing to negotiate most of the time. However I've noticed a lot of cheap replicas being priced as originals with print out pictures. And the photos are clearly different than the actual item. So for example a $20 replica on sale for $400.00....the research team needs an actual furniture enthusiast or designer to help with some of this I think. They're common errors. Call me if you need someone (;
Neil Schmidt
I originally had problems scheduling a pick-up because I live on the outer fringes of their pick-up area, but those issues were worked out and I now have an appointment for pick-up scheduled. UPDATE: the pick-up crew called before arriving, arrived on time, and was very pleasant. An enjoyable experience working with them!
Tonya rode
I can't say enough about the great selection of products here. They have a little of everything for your home. Furniture, appliances, carpets, building supplies... you name it you can probably find it here. Have never been in a store like this before. I love going to see what new may have come in. The longer an item is there the lower the price will get until it sells so you can always find a deal.
Deborah
Date "night" for us is a trip to Second Chance. LOL! We are ardent supporters of purchasing repurposed items that are useful to us and keeping them out of the landfills. Sometimes "vintage" fits much better with the look we are trying to achieve!
Sekhola Benjamin
You can always find something you can use but the prices are ridiculously high the items are used, when you compare the price of a new item to the used one you are better off buying a new item.
I love them because if you have an antique piece and you are looking to match it to something you are more than likely to find it there. Great place but prices are over priced for old used items.
Elisabeth Cohen
I had an extremely positive experience dealing with Second Chance. You all were incredibly professional and helped guide me through the deconstruction process. I have recommended your services to others and will continue to do so. It’s nice to know that our home was donated to a worthy cause and didn’t end up in a landfill that negatively impacts the environment. In addition, the deconstruction process allowed individuals to get on the job training and develop valuable construction skills.
Keep up the good work!
George Schmidt
Huge selection of reclaimed building materials.
Mark Antonelli
Just delivered there. Fast forklift unloading.
Sitting Lynx
My house is over 100 years old, so I love this place. Architectural savage at it's best. Sometimes the staff is busy and you have to be patient, but I never thought the prices were unreasonable and, truth be told, it's a pleasure to spend time here anyway.
Riley Williams
This place has a tonne of different items available, mostly at good prices. You can really lose yourself looking at all the furniture, tools, appliances, and more. It’s saved us a bunch of money, and I’d highly recommend Second Chance Inc. for DIY projects.
E P
Our plumber suggested this place for where we could surely find vintage 1950 white bathroom tile to replace ones shattered in a vanity upgrade...Alas, there are no vintage tiles here in the tile section. Everything was modern. We'll have to look online instead. This place was really busy today, a Sunday. Prices are not that great. A used cement bird bath was listed at $45, which you can buy it for in better condition elsewhere. Saw lots of marble countertops marked as SOLD. If you need brick, they have tons of pallets of various styles outside. They also sell lumber that is individually marked on each board, and even old HVAC units, wood kitchen cabinet sets, etc.
Gage S
This place is a treasure trove of awesome reclaimed goodies. Entering this warehouse of amazing architectural wonders lowers one's stress level instantly. You will not be let down by the countless diamonds in the rough waiting to be reclaimed by you. Just do it!
Johnny Mitchell
Wow! This place is massive! Everything from appliances to church pews, statues, and stained glass windows to reclaimed wood flooring and everything in between. Give your self some time to look when going, it may take a few hours. I can't believe the many times I've went into Baltimore and rode past this place not realizing what I was missing. Dress warm if going in the winter time, it's a bit chilly inside, but well worth it.
Dan Licata
This place is definitely a site to behold and has a ton of items. A lot of it is for a great price some is a little expensive IMO. The only issue is it's not temperature controlled so it was. Very cold inside. Definitely worth a trip to check out.
William Earl
A great place to find household items at a great discount price. Discontinued items like the cabinet door hinges that I needed. Tables, chairs, stoves, doors, moldings, different types of wood and frames. A variety of antique items all good quality.
VooDoo Val (VooDooVal)
Second chance is the best, you can find great used furniture for very reasonable prices. The people who work there are super nice and helpful. We go there al time. Your money supports a great cause.
John Myers
The place is filled with all kinda of stuff. I wish I would have know about this before I spent allot of money else where. I bought a dishwasher for 300 they had it there for 15 it was used but it was clean. It has every thing and stock changes weekly it has prices clearly marked. The staff is some of the most helpful staff anywhere . They are nice and seem like they like there jobs. I am and will continue to be a return customer
Nikki Brooks
Great place to find interesting home decor, and diy items. I suggest coming back frequently because the inventory changes often. My latest visit was a week ago and I noticed it was a lot cleaner and better organized.
Lori Brunnen
I don't know what May was expecting when she left her one star review. First off this place is HUMONGOUS. I had no trouble finding someone to help me and all were courteous. Try to remember you are not at Home Depot. And the prices reflect it. Restoring my new old house is going to be much less stressful knowing second chance has what i want-from fencing to appliances-for next to nothing. Love you Second Chance.
Arlene Lugo
I always find something for my 🏡 Home!!! …
Jeffrey Erhardt
We had Second Chance do a deconstruction of a house on our lot (We plan to build a new home). The process went very well and they were very organized and professional. I feel like everyone involved was a winner...we (the home owner), the environment (so much was saved from the landfill), the folks that work at Second Chance and the end users of the re-purposed materials, appliances and fixtures. Super good concept and a great company delivering the execution. Keep it up!!
Aaron Geerlings
A giant store filled with recovered building materials with various other items like furniture etc. The inventory turns over quickly. Great place to find used appliances and cabinets. Highly recommend for folks who are looking for renovation materials and ideas
Hilary Jacobson-Kent
A very wide variety of used furniture at unbelievable prices. We got a bookcase for my son. Will need to purchase shelves. It's scratched on the side; but we PAID $7. They don't transport anything; but at that price! Wow!
Shadi Hariri
We worked with Second Chance folks for the deconstruction of our old house. Amazing, professional team completed the deconstruction in a couple of days from the date we requested the service. We are very happy and highly recommend this organization.
Kathy Martin
Love it here. So much to see and imagine.
Scott Sinder
We bought a beachfront property and planned to tear down the old house and build a new one. Second Chance was on site the first business day after we closed and they spent a week stripping the house of anything/everything. Our builder was unbelievably impressed and we feel like it could not have been a better experience -- through Second Chance, we were able to salvage a lot of what was there and we receive a nice tax benefit to boot. Doing well and doing good all at the same time. It does not get better than that. We could not recommend this more.
Patrick Pomeroy
Best location to find past treasures, and make them your own, in Baltimore. You have to visit it to experience the overwhelming diversity of construction materials, art, appliances, claw foot tubs, bidets, church pews, 8' statues of angels and treasures too numerous to list here.
Just today I stopped by to get a few cabinet doors. Got 6 of them, for free. Love this place.
Their help is awesome. You can tell they are proud to work here.
SHOP OCTAVIA
Beat place ro find doors, flooring, appliances and more.
James McChristy
Awesome selection of items, some are quite expensive but you can still find great deals from time to time. Donating items is also quick and easy.
Summers Stickney
They also have pick your own freebies from slow inventory and nailed old lumber in the same
Choose well its all recycle and more sturdy than big box store kiln dry
Have a whole kitchen cabinet matched set from there including a lazysusan corner unit. Best price and for the minor scratches as used
As good a quality as brand new
And to match old styles they have loads of old pull and door hardwares
Martha (MertSut)
Our experience could not have been better. Neighbors commented how professional, quiet and clean the team was that deconstructed our home. The fact that our beloved home did not end up in a landfill meant a lot to us and the fact that people received job training in the process was a wonderful bonus. Wishes for years of success in deconstructing, repurposing and job training!
andrea r
We engaged Second Chance at the recommendation of other local builders in the Vienna, VA area in the deconstruction of our home prior to demolition. From start to finish the entire team was responsive and easy to work with. We were impressed by how prompt and efficient they were in both the planning and execution of this large project. It is incredibly satisfying (and tax-efficient!) too to know that these materials could be repurposed. Also, it was a truly fascinating process to watch for our whole family and on some level helped us emotionally say goodbye to our old home.
Calvin Bridges
Just to walk inside this 2nd chance warehouse is great.pool tables, safes, statues, doors windows chairs. Huge dressers for bedrooms. Outside they put free stuff down at the end of the parking lot doors windows Desks. Great.
Jamie Sale
I have been there about 30 times. Generally don't buy because they don't have what I want. But I do acquaint myself with what they do have. So when I need it or my friends need it we race down and get it. Also I just like to cruise around, chat it up and learn about the folks and the program. You need door knobs? Light fixtures? Hate the big box stores? Try theses people. Someone made a wise-crack that that the staff isn't all that friendly. He doesn't know what these people are doing. He should have the moxie they do. Go. Learn. Watch. This place is fine - (I'm no flaming liberal either . . .
Holly Leachman
Thank you so much. I heard nothing but great reports about your crew and the job they did with this project. So many of my neighbors on Parkwood St complemented them and the fact that they were so professional My wife and I appreciate so much all your efforts.
Chris Litz
Very cool selection of various home supplies and remodeling materials. Large selection of products. Easy and free parking.
Hair Braiding Is a STEM
Love, love, love.... employees are super helpful. Great for finding bargains from the 19th century to present. Invaluable store if you have an older home in baltimore.
Don Reedy
A lot of pretty nice things but the prices are outrageous . If these things were donated you would expect them to have a reasonable price on them . I have never seen a non profit retail antique store before.
They have the best of both worlds, get it free and charge retail, hope the profits from the non profit are going to good causes.
Bob Jacobs
A great cause for people and items. A must go to
Robert Lambert
Great place lots of cool stuff . Staff very helpfull . From building products to house hold furniture. All prices can be negotiated if your nice and friendly back to staff . Not fancy but so cool. Highly recommended .
Charles Hudson
Great place to find repurposed items. I like to visit every now and again and see the great stuff that they have-always interesting.
Walter Lee
I must say one of the best places I have probably ever eaten at in Baltimore Maryland. My rate waitress Shelly was so professional time and soft-spoken. The customers was nice and friendly the customer next to me was so funny I couldn't even eat my food one of the oldest customers that comes to this restaurant for what I hear I must say thank you I enjoyed myself and the food from Atlanta Georgia and I will be back and I will be telling everyone about my experience
Rose Hammer Burt
Full of treasures - can be overwhelming, but if you go in looking for something special (or just to look around) there's a good chance you'll find something unique and full of character. Great deals, beautiful old pieces, eclectic and vast selection.
Christina DiazMalone
Eye candy for the soul. I love Second Chance's mission. All who visit should read about this place first before leaving a CONSTRUCTIVE review. You'd be contributing to the cause and feel good that there are people out there who want to help other while providing ideas and opportunities for you to create beautiful spaces. Love the staff. I purchase and donate to Second Chance.
Jerrod Brunk
I really like this place. Really wish it was more along my beaten path. I have to have plenty of advanced intention to ensure I get what I can here when I need them. Don't arrive to close to 430 and certainly not afterward if you want to donate! Almost sent me away. Looked like they were looking for a reason to decline my donation. Fortunately it worked out. Now I know.
Carlos Margarida
Awesome place to go and at least look around. From antiques to kitchen cabinets and more. You will not be disappointed. They are all about helping others thru a second chance, a very noble concept.
Nancy Sexton
If you're renovating your house this is where you go to.
Dave Torrey
A fun place to walk around. We've picked up some nice used furniture here. Much of the building materials are recycled from razing old houses.
Ashley Hughes
I use to like this place a lot. Its been a hit or miss for the past year. Prices are varied... Some insane $$$ others amazing! This comparing the **selling prices** between antique stores, eBay, etsy and boutiques. (Note I said selling not asking). Plenty of doors and windows kitchen cabinets and fireplace mantles.
Laura Rogge Luerssen
Love to visit. Prices are a little out of my reach. Like a museum!
Donna
Great place! Lots of deals, beautiful old pieces as well as newer ones. You could build an entire house from materials from here. Great non-profit that gives both people and items another shot. Just wonderful.
Marion Foster
Great place with so much stuff! Antique and vintage items as well as fixtures and remodeling supplies. It's huge, so plan to spend a few hours here.
Squanchy Squanch
Absolutely wonderful. The staff makes the whole experience easy and great. One of the staff members literally spent 15 minutes helping us load our couch onto our car because we clearly had no idea what we were doing. I didn't catch the gentleman's name, but thank you.
Henry F Henline
My daughter started shopping here when we renovated a 100+ year old Baltimore row house. Complete kitchen cabinets including granite counter tops and stainless steel sink, $1,400.00. Beautiful oak stair hand rail with returns and rises, plus balusters and newel posts. I just bought $3k of granite countertop for $230.
Recovered building materials and wood - flooring, windows, mantels, beautiful carved things. Commercial stoves, ovens, gelato and soft serve ice cream machines. Household appliances and furniture. Objects de art. Stained glass windows. Light fixtures, classic faucets and door knobs.
All for pennies on the dollar. This is a typical price tag (beautiful spiral stair, oak and iron - I should have bought it at $950, was gone at $750, oh well) price drops monthly and weekly depending on item.
I live in Florida and still shop here when I can. Baltimore is lucky to have such a place, take advantage of it, while helping the community.
T. Mark Selby
A fun place to visit!! Was able to develop many concepts for many projects with a variety of textiles for our home & a commercial resturant interior project we are currently working on. 2nd Chance is so huge and the variety of options is over whelmingly exciting. Staff members were everywhere and willing to help and answer questions.
Shirley Ferguson
Had a wonderful experience at Second Chance. Huge variety of furniture, doors, windows .... at great prices. Look forward to going again and seeing what treasures I can find.
Abdulmalik L
Wow! I can't believe what I saw. The prices are incredibly cheap. I saw items that I had not seen since I was a kid with prices to match. This is something you have to see to believe. I highly recommend this place if you want to personalize your space or save a whole lot of money.
Dan Rivera
Recycling the somewhat used old stuff for home improvement or decorating is the place. I found a treasure of goodies which of course are all marked down. Good to browse and get ideas to spruce up your home.
Madeline Beal
You can't go wrong. A huge selection of everything you need for the home, good prices for the most part, and you get to help save the planet in just a small way.
Yommycity
Varieties of used home improvement products at great prices.
Kishor Budharaju
If you have decided deconstruction of your house then Second Chance is the right choice to get hat done. Their team is very professional and do a good job. They helped us through the process and finished the job in a timely manner. Highly recommended
Hannah Cranville
About a month ago, I had my first Second Chance experience and was overwhelmed in a positive light with both the idea of the business and the customer service. I bought a few items that day, including a photograph that was an impulse buy, when I saw it hanging behind the counter. A young man named Chris was extremely kind and sparked great conversation with me as the customer. He made sure that I was taken care of and I would not have to carry a thing.
When I got home that day, I realized that this picture of mine had not made it in to my car (my fault). So, I called back and spoke with the same young man at the counter (under the chandelier). Chris said he would take a look around, but I never heard back from him since he did not have my number.
Last weekend, I brought a friend of mine to Second Chance with me and when I went to the register to check out, this same young man recognized me immediately and said, "I've got your picture for you." Chris had held it in the back for over a month. Not only was this above and beyond the call of duty, he proceeded to be just as helpful and kind as my first interaction with him.
Overall a great place and a great experience!
Steven Brown
Everything your house needs is here, and staff are very helpful
Whitney Burton
Great if your restoring an older old or want to recycled home goods. Inventory changes enought that you will see new things each time. Also, AMAZINGLY nice staff!!!!
Christine Killmayer
They're always friendly and they always have cool stuff. It's fun just to go look, but it's also the best place to get a good deal on building supplies
S Dot N
Very awesome finds, and hidden gems. Prices can be a bit high especially for the larger items. However we’ll definitely be back!
Lisa M.
Normally services great. It wasn't to this time. The cashier's called for help twice still no luck. I waited for over 10 minutes and then gave up. Sad
Eloise Parker
We engaged Second Chance to deconstruct our house, prior to our builder demolishing it and rebuilding a new home. There are so many reasons why I would advocate for someone in similar circumstances to engage them.
First, **environmental reasons**: having SC come in and reclaim the reusable parts of our home meant less stuff in the landfill, and perfectly good stuff going to people who can put them to good use. We were surprised at how much SC could reclaim -- everything from relatively new cabinets and appliances to decades old roof beams and oak floors.
Second, **sentimental reasons**: this modest old house saw 70 years of family holidays, children born and raised, the lives of ourselves and the other families who lived here before us. It felt good to give new life to parts of this place that provided shelter and love.
Third, **charitable reasons**: SC uses your home as a training ground to provide construction skills to people who are looking to get a new lease on life. They were professional and courteous throughout, despite the dirty work and heat, and they finished in record time.
Fourth, for **financial reasons**: the donation of materials from your home, the contribution of your home as a training ground, and a monetary contribution you make to support SC's work are tax-deductible.
There is nothing about this that isn't a win-win, except for the fact that you need to build two more weeks into your build schedule for the work. If you are planning a teardown/rebuild, I strongly recommend you look into using SC.
Marcus Dagan
What a cornucopia of amazing things.
I was able to several items i need.
I must compliment the staff, most helpful and friendly Bravo to them all.
William Jennings
They have a large collection of home furnishings hardware etc. Make sure you allow yourself enough time to look around. I bought an old cast iron radiator for my house I could not find anywhere else
Ani Armiger
Appreciated the courtesy of Kerri and her donation team. They personally reached out to me and scheduled a donation pick up the next day. I have donated to Second Chance in the past and had a seamless experience then as well. I love their mission and am happy to support this organization in any way I can. Thank you Second Chance! Keep up the good work!
Dave Dallas
Cool stuff and more cool stuff! I went for a wheelchair today. Only one. Wrong size.
Sean VanSickle
It's like a furniture museum but you can touch and buy anything there. It's so much better than your average thrift store. I love this place and will use it often.
Kevin Williamson
Very cool place!!! It seemed a bit over-priced for most of the items on hand. And judging by the dates on the stickers they were probably priced too high for others as well.
Jaclynn Wise
This place is amazing. Bring your walking shoes, there is so much to see! The selection is stellar and prices are reasonable. Go on the weekend and just walk around, you never know what you'll find!
Julia Day
Love this second hand shop - something different every time! The place to go for affordable used furniture, knick knacks, & building materials! Highly recommend it & great for the community & environment!
Barney Bolt
This is my favorite shopping place, it has part from previous buildings and houses. You can find the one weird part you need for your 100 yr old house or go big and outfit all kitchen cabinets and granite.
Michael Bowers
This is more than a second hand store. It is a massive warehouse with everything from home goods to CULTURAL ARTIFACTS. Seriously, this is one part "get some new chairs" and one part "oh that's the chandelier from the Lord Baltimore hotel".
Walter Howard
This place is the definition of a hidden treasure, assuming you'e into vintage, baltimore history, modern, contemporary, and everything else for bldg materials to full brand new kitchens. I'm still on the fence regarding pricing. Can anyone confirm, say the price for granite @ $15/square foot is that a good deal?
Becky Hammer
Love this place! I always find unique, high quality items. Nice to know my finds are saved from the landfill and the purchase helps fund their mission of helping others in need of a second chance.
Peter Allison
The Second Chance team was easy to work with and completed the project very timely. The entire process was very efficient and I would definitely partner with them again.
Vincent Del Pizzo
Been coming here for well over a year now, this place is awesome!!! Always find what I'm looking for. Be prepared to spend an hour or two here because there's so much to see!!! A MUST VISIT for DIY'ers!!!
SCOW Commodore
Fun place, lots of stuff
U Suber
Love this store. I usually go once a month just to walk around and browse. I have a old house and sometimes have to replace the original item and they just might have it.
kevin boles
Pretty good variety of household and contrutction materials. Prices are not as low as i would expect but not bad. I come here before i go to Home Depot or Lowes just to see if i can find what im looking for.
Harold Middleberg
Although I had some reservations about the deconstruction concept, I could not be more pleased with the entire experience from initial phone call to the completion of the project. I stopped by my home in Longport, NJ while the deconstruction was going on and I was shocked how neat (and professional) the Second Chance crew was. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Second Chance to anyone who can benefit from their service.
emma kolar
Such an amazing place full of a vast array of second hard wares to look around. It was too hot to soend much time in there today, but everyone who worked there was friendly even though I bet they were super warm too!
Jeanette Parker
Amazing selection. Things I've seen there: art, theater sets, movie paraphernalia, cabinets, office supplies, crown molding, antiques, keys, tubs with legs, windows, tile, pianos, comics, mirrors, bedroom sets, laundry machines, vintage stove, etc. Reasonable prices but not cheap.
pinkdiva pam
Not very organized--but an amazing place! My sister was looking for a kitchen counter for her club basement and found one in almost mint condition for a shamefully low price! I liked their customer service personnel.
Brad Burgess
Great deals if you can find what you need. They have it all.
Wallace Sheckells
This place is a must see for anyone doing renovation on an old house or just looking for antiques.
Julie Mosteller
Great experience. Erin was my associate. He was very knowledgeable and helped me pick out the right doors for my project. I definitely was very patient with me. Thank you.

Place is nice but it's in Baltimore
Syed Mahmood
We engaged Second Chance to donate our existing house before building a new house on the lot. Ryan Mariman, the Deconstruction Sales Manager, provided us details of the donation and deconstruction process, including expected tax savings and environmental benefits. He promptly replied to any questions we had. Their field staff, who did the deconstruction, was very courteous and took extreme care in the disassembly. Woody Testerman, their project manager, was very responsive to our ever changing schedule as we waited for the demolition permit from the County.
Overall, we are extremely pleased that we engaged Second Chance and that our house provided a resource to train and develop their workforce and the material salvaged will now have a chance to be reused instead of going to a landfill.
Blake Foster
Such a wonderful place! Love the mission and the store. A hidden gem!! Come here for whatever you might need for your house or building or even office!
SKB
I could spend hours here. You have to search a little, but there are some amazing finds. They don't deliver, but can recommend a local delivery service and will hold your purchase until you can pick it up.
Jef Boeke
I can't get enough of "second chance". Every time I go I find something amazing. If you own an older home in Bmore and you want to keep it true to history there is no better place. They will also take your older hardware you cant use gratefully. Help preserve awesome Bmore historic architectural detail and support this amazing place!
Max
Great resource to have in Baltimore. Great offerings outside of furniture and salvaged materials. Stop in to look at flooring options and landscaping (bricks and cobble) for older homes.
Gabrielle Miller
This place is a treasure trove. I love coming here. The art is an especially good collection.
We have walked away with some great pieces. Can’t wait to go back.
kasper Bodorki
huge warehouse space and a unique experience. You won't find larger items like sculptures and lawn ornaments anywhere else.
Raekala Adams
Its so much stuff and no one really greets you or offer to help you find anything. The sections are however clearly marked with signs but a little direction from someone who works there would be helpful! I went looking for a desk, I didnt find one!
Sherrie “Bear” Shamer
This is my store for rehab projects of my home for many years. They have furnishings, appliances, flooring, abstract things from around Baltimore, granite, kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, sinks, lighting, outdoor furniture, pictures, and dishes. You name it, they have it. For the person of DIY this is the place.
Roger Carter
Always enjoy coming to second chance. Most times I do find what i'm looking for.
Other times I find what I wasn't looking for but was glad that I had found it.
Employees are great and very helpful.
Prices are good.
Kel Millionie
Amazing place for architectural reclamation artifacts. Plan plenty of time to browse as this place is 100s of 1000s of sqft. Tons if great finds at variable price points.
Nina Merle
I am in love with this store! Staff is very friendly and helpful. Prices are great . One drawback , it is such a big store , you need several hours to browse through all they have ! Not really a drawback.
kedem kaminsky
Looking for unique, they have some options that puts home goods to shame.
Nice staff, no ac or heat, some stuff pricey and non negotiable. But a fun place.

Amanda Wolfe
Great store, plenty of things to choose from but can definitely be hit or miss with any store that has a wide range of inventory. Some things are pretty overpriced, but it’s not difficult at all to find something that everyone likes at this store.
Suzzanne Milich
Great place a lot of older items but the prices on some things are to high .
Netra Nicole
Good variety depending on what you're looking for. Some items do seem over priced but I guess you're paying for the way things used to be made (i.e. solid wood, porcelain etc.)
Sal Pellegrini
Nice place to buy 2 nd hand furniture, appliances, doors, windows or unusual items like safes, speakers, wagon carts, etc. The staff is friendly and helpful.its a great place just to walk around and see all the cool stuff inside
Dale Skinner
It has some items that are fairly priced, than on the other hand some Items are way over priced.
I say that because most if not all of the items they sell people give to the store for free than to turn around and sell a item that you got for free for $1000 plus dollars is a bit ridiculous
John Coombs
The most amazing place to find everything that you don't want to pay full price for. Before you buy new, call Second Chance to ask if they have it. You won't regret it! Save $$$!
Daniel Hudson
Amazing! If you haven't been, what are you waiting for.
Rica Jj
Best place to buy gently used furniture and goods for great prices. I do wish they delivered though, they are only able to refer you to a third party delivery service.
Brett Matteo
Depends upon when you go prices start out high and decrease as item sits. So if an item your looking for happens to have been there for a month or more you can get a good deal
Jessica Taylor
I must say that this organization is absolutely amazing! They have anything from flooring to furniture to....Ok just about everything! Not only do they help with work force developement they helped me get a job when i was very discouraged to not be able to find one. They literally give people second chances, cause in fact people do change!!
Keith Bennett

Second Chance is *huge* and has something of everything you need for a home, from reclaimed lumber and marble to doorknobs to sinks to sofas to art. Their prices are not the cheapest, but those prices pay to train folks in reclamation and deconstruction -- a hugely valuable asset to any town.
Leon Hamilton
Second Chance is a large warehouse loaded with used goods for sale. Their inventory is stacked from furniture to appliances, antiques to Art. With such a large inventory I think they are Impressive
