Reviews of The Salvation Army Family Store & Donation Center
Awesome thrift store! So sad they don't appreciate the employee behind the counter who has worked there for 2 years and stayed after the manager walked out on him. He deserves recognition. Always gives us great deals on stuff. And it's by Walmart too!
I always donate here. Nice staff, reasonable prices.
I LOVE 💕 this place. It's like a little ole' mom and pop store. The ONE man who pretty much runs the place and is always there is so dang sweet and genuine you feel right at home. They have a HUGE selection of things and the prices are VERY VERY reasonable AND in some cases he will accept an offer an item you may love but either can't afford or an item you may think is more than it should be (reasonable offers that is. A man offered .50¢ on a $3 item, come on! Let's try not to insult them!) Go and find yourself a fun unique item or some gently worn clothes! You won't regret the visit. I NEVER do!
Salvation Army stores are acceptable, at best. The prices were doable. Movies and music you need to double check the case, it's sad when you buy a DVD set to find it short of 1-2 discs missing. The staff needs to get empathy training. On my last visit I felt extremely uncomfortable. It's bad when the Salvation Army hires staff that are impolite. Hopefully my next visit will show some improvement.
One of the best thrift stores in town. Great staff, clean, excellent prices. A place that remembers their inventory comes to them FREE. Please don't change!
I felt the videos were over priced.
It is a fun place. Never know what you can find each time. An electric guitar or a rare pair of Nikes. Native American jewelry. Closed Mondays. Highly recommend this place for the unusual.
I Love This Place I Found A Polo Shirts That Is Only $3. And It Is Cheaper. Than Other Thrift Stores In My Area I Will Be Buying Clothing From This Store Because The Salvation Army Is My Favorite Store Thanks.
I didn't plan to go here but it was along my usual route. Glad I stopped to browse, I came up on some pretty close to new clothes. And the employees were helpful & assisted when needed.
Great. The store is clean and organized. I got some great deals. I have shopped at this store for the past few years.
Not a huge selection here...but this close to the air force base you get some interesting finds from all over the world
This place is nice n clean but not all items have prices then u get up 2 check out
This is an excellent thrift store, and just to prove that I'm not your usual reviewer-idiot, I'll put some flesh on what "excellent" means in this context... but first, you'll want to know the HOO, or Hours Of Operation, for this joint, and since this type of shop is almost always run by old-school folk without much Internet flair — not to speak of being devoid of computer savvy in general — and since no other reviewer had the good sense to point out the HOO, well, me being a big-picture kind of dude, it falls to me to provide you with that detail as well:
Hours Of Operation (I might as well maintain consistency, eh?):
Mon-Sat 10AM to 6PM,
CLOSED on the Lord's Day (this is a Salvation Army, church-related operation, right?!)
The Review:
This place has it all, even a smidgen of PC-related stuff, including the odd monitor. It has a very large clothing department, everything well-compartmentalized and -organized (no sloppiness) into a men's, women's and kiddies' department — and NOTHING STINKS (literally), as it often does in a second-hand store!
It also has a large furniture department, and the stuff looks to generally be in good working order (no junk!). Oh, they usually have a sizeable display of chairs and office chairs out in the front parking lot, which they wheel in at night, and otherwise during inclement weather.
It has a niche area – off to the side of the clothing department, near the furniture department (or maybe it's a sub-department within the furniture department) – devoted to music DVDs, LPs (Yeps, LPs!) and books galore.
It also has a not-so large kitchen-related (porcelain and the like) and bric-à-brac department, a part of which includes art works, among these, quite a few framed paintings (but you might want the painting for the frame only!).
What it doesn't have a lot of is lamps and (electrical) kitchen appliances, though you might run across the occasional item in these categories, but it is not a big-ticket item in this particular thrift store.
The place is well-lit, and additionally benefits from a large glass front. The personnel (volunteers all??) have always been paragons of helpfulness: friendly and considerate (I have been there 3-4 times in the year that I have lived in ABQ; no complaints, no gripes!).
The prices are quite reasonable, and, considering the humanitarian-philanthropic aim of the store, who would wanna be seen to be haggling over prices anyway?!

Very nice thrift store
Great store

Why is it that when you call, the people who answer are just rude and very unprofessional! Yet the drivers are friendly, professional and very courteous!
