Reviews of Buffalo Exchange
I visited on 3/12 to sell and buy. While shopping I found a pair of GB knee high boots. I noticed that each boot had different pricing, one was marked $18 and the other was $38. As an honest customer I decided to bring the price difference to the cashier’s attention at checkout. The person working brought over the manager? The manager took the boots and returned with the lower price tag ripped off saying “$38 is the correct price, not sure what you want to do with that information” and walked away. Customer service 101, if there is a price discrepancy honor the lower price and if you cannot do that at least apologize for the mistake. As a customer of 15 years, that interaction left me feeling price jabbed and like my honesty was not valued, as it ended up costing me an extra $20. The interaction was unprofessional and left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The manager could learn a thing or two from the person working the dressing rooms with the piercings. Shoutout to them, they were kind and helpful.
I love that it opens to either side of the street, that alone gives it such a fun feel. Wish I knew what it used to be before it became a Buffalo Exchange. Solid selection in the large space, it's hard to not find SOMETHING. I do think it's silly to have catalogues for a store that can't guarantee what it has in stock, however this is a minor quibble. One of Buffalo's more solid exchanges!
Always cool stuff here and inventory is rotated frequently. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. Only sold here a couple times and had some success. Not sure why so many reviewers have complaints. Their business is reselling clothing, so they will give you $5 dollars for a top and sell it for $15. If you want to keep the money yourself, then sell it without a middleman like BE.
May not be the place for sellers, hence the bad reviews, but for buyers? This place has hands down brought me countless amazing outfits, so it’d be a crime not to give them 5 stars. People that work here are friendly, and have cool vibes.
They rarely buy much but the girl I had a transaction with was adorable and a complete sweetie compared to the male i had dealt with before. Its a pretty eclectic place to find interesting pieces at times. Yet you may be better off taking them elsewhere and getting (for me personally) the satisfaction of selling every piece abit cheaper yet selling every piece. Plus knowing it will be enjoyed!
The atmosphere is cool and they do have a lot of selection! But a lot of it is overpriced and the tags clearly show where they're from and it's definitely not worth what it's marked! The staff is laid back didn't talk to me very much didn't greet me. It's a thrift store what can I say
Had a great time , I ended up not selling anything, but very professional and it's a young vibe. Nice people
I generally have good shopping experiences at Buffalo.
Needs a good cleaning. Dust bunnies everywhere.
A good place to buy and sell trending clothing. Selling is done by walk-in, so no need to call ahead. You can sell for cash or store credit.
Best store in the entire chain, hands down! Perfectly captures the New Mexico vibe and often has superb vintage gems.
I don't understand the bad reviews. They are upfront about their buying procedures. If you want maximum $ return on your items, use Ebay, Poshmark, etc. Buffalo is a great way to quickly clear the closet, however. and fun to browse.
I had a couple pairs of Birkenstocks that had really not been worn at all, except to try them out in my apartment complex. They were pretty, thin-strapped varieties - one in black and one in a cool summery orange. I also brought in a dress I had never worn that still had the tags on. $360.00 worth of clothing and shoes. They gave me $23 while telling me that Birkenstocks fly off the shelves. When you take cash, they only give you something like 20% of what they intend to sell the stuff for. While I was very glad to sell these things AT ALL, I did leave feeling I had gotten a bad deal. I am not sure that this is an accurate appraisal. It's just the way I FELT. But I told myself I was lucky to get anything at all because, after all, they were used things.
If you take clothes in exchange, instead of money, they give you something like 50% credit. I was not in the market for used clothes. As I walked past a rack on the way to different counter to collect my money, the stench of unwashed bodies hit my nostrils. I had the impression it was coming from that rack of clothes. You are supposed to wash the clothes before you bring them in for sale, but people with body odor are not always aware of it. One of my neighbors buys clothes there and nearly every time I see her, SHE smells like that rack of clothes.
In my early 20's, I shopped at vintage clothing stores ALL the time, but they did not smell like that.
The clerks behind the counter were VERY friendly and helpful, very quick and efficient. I could not have asked for a better experience, as far as the personnel are concerned.
I did happen to see a FABULOUS coat made entirely from genuine lamb hide, with the fur still attached. Obviously, if you are into vintage clothing, I would bet you may find a few real treasure, but you are probably going to have to have them professionally cleaned before you put them in your closet or wear them.
Really cool store if you are looking for higher end thrift store. Bought a Swiss Army Backpack that was almost new for $20. Glad they have weathered COVID storm that has closed so many smaller businesses.
Okay let's see here what can I say about Buffalo exchange. I think it's great yeah I am a big fan of the place big fan and that's saying something, because when it comes to clothes and my OCD of absolutely having to have the right type of clothes the right choice of clothes when I go someplace to shop because how I look and present myself as one of the most important things to me because first impression is the one thing you never get a second chance at Buffalo exchange never lets me down. Go there the choices are awesome the ladies at work there are super super awesome.
I just dropped by the store to see what I could get for some clothing I had not used at all or enough to keep. My experience was great. The store offers 30% of what they can sell the items for if you want cash. Overall it was easy and they accepted almost everything I brought in from stores like Lucky Brand, Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, and Marshall’s. I even got some cash for some heels I brought in. Definitely recommend you go by and see what you can get for your closet clean out items. You can donate whatever they do not take and they give it to charities :)
I had A great experience whenever I have been thier. Staff is real nice and helpful . It's a clean place and they have reasonable prices . Thank You all for your help and kindness...,✌️👍👍 …
I sell my old clothes here often and they are always super thorough and talk you through everything. I love spending my money here too, such a variety of things and relatively inexpensive. Staff is great too and are always so nice. Parking could be better but that’s not their fault..
I originally heard about this store in Austin, and that store was wonderful along with the selection and pricing. Although, when I went into this store, I did the trade for in store credit.. Most of my clothing is nice, in style although they look for vintage, vans, forever 21 and clothing like that. Their clothing is definitely pricey for most of the items in the store, you have to look super hard just to find a decent price. Most of the things I look for are the 50% deals but even then, you have to search. The customer service is nice, haven't dealt with a rude employee yet.
Still a fun place to shop, they did change how they buy your stuff, no waiting around, it's a drop off service that'll take a day or two. And unfortunately as of 9/6/2020 they are not doing cash; only PayPal or store credit. Back entrance is closed off do if your planning to get your steps in that day you can park in the front.
I really like the selection they have and have found great stuff on many occasions. Trade-ins are kind of frustrating as it doesn't seem to make sense what they take and what they don't take sometimes. Like I've brought in shirts that have minor pilling or a loose thread and they say it's not a condition they'll except. Although I've seen shirts on the rack that have major armpit stains or jeans with (definitely unintentional) paint smears/splatter. I assume they just lower their standards when buying from people they know or something. Kind of annoying, but I don't care enough to not shop here. Really convenient location, and it's great that they have parking in the back.
My boyfriend and I were preparing for an 80's party and we wanted legit looking clothes; we went to buffalo exchange and the staff were absolutely wonderful. They led Tyler and I through the entire store searching for super cool 80's clothing. Yes, the prices are slightly higher than a thrift, but it's because the clothes are better quality (not bashing thrift stores - I love them). We truly had an awesome experience at buffalo exchange, and would recommend anyone who is looking for unique clothing to stop by.
I had a really great time shopping and selling here! I traded some clothing in and also purchased some items. The entire experience was very positive. So, I guess I'll start with what I liked best..
1. I come from a long background in working with the public so customer service is the biggest thing I notice when i do a first time visit somewhere. If that's bad I don't usually go back. Here I will definitely be back and recommend to friends! These ladies were top notch!! Super friendly and personable. Genuine and everyone was super chic with great personal style :) Gave me more than I was expecting and took almost all of my items!! Yay more $ to shop. Which brings me to...
2. Really great on trend and nice condition clothing and accessories. Prices were low and I LOVE what I bought. I only wish I would have picked up those cool 1980s original Vision Street Wear hi-tops for 15 bucks grrrr
3. The store has a super hip yet organized feel to it, well laid out and easy to find stuff. It has huge windows and feels super clean light and airy. Not at all cramped or stuffy even though it was pretty busy thr whole time I was there.
Highly recommend the Albuquerque Buffalo Exchange- new fave!
I came looking for a denim jacket and immediately found what I was looking for. So many unique options in this store, and you will not always find what you're looking for, but very worth rummaging around. So many great pieces if you look hard enough with an open mind. Very grunge modern.
I went in on a Sunday and the staff was outstanding! Such a cool place to buy and sell clothing.
We hit lot of thrift shops. This one is fun, as it is a little more trendy than a lot of the Albuquerque options
I have a love hate relationship with this store. I really enjoy their clothing options, but I'm very offended by their sizing. Everything XL or bigger gets an XL tag. This is highly annoying. I'll grab a cute dress that will say it's an XL only to find out it's a 3XL in the changing room. It's not hard to put the correct size of cloths and create more sections for the extended sizes. I feel like they only cater to S and M sized cloths. They just lump all of the extended sizes together with the XL and just don't seem to care that it makes it harder to look through them.
always friendly, over the top customer service. been coming to this location for years. can sometimes be more highly priced.
A little more of the pricey side of thrifting but you really don't have to sort through anything gross or trashy. Love! The people who work there are cool & they don't use ANY bags!! ❤♻️🌍 …
Let me first say that if you don't want your clothes, what makes you think Buffalo wants to buy them? Most people have bad style in my opinion anyways. I sell clothes every few months and I've always had a good experience. But I sell them quality, stylish clothing. There's always a few pieces they don't take so I either donate those or wait till next visit to try again. You have to sell what's in style and consider the season. The staff is friendly and helpful, so I don't understand the bad reviews.
Always find a steal here. Beautiful clothes and shoes for a fraction of the cost! Always recommend for second hand clothes, I say second hand loosely I normally find clothes with the tags still on from the original shop.
Pricier than Savers but you get more current and stylish clothing for much less than department stores. Nice salespersons, and I always go there to look for the more expensive things like leather and wool winter stuff. I also like that your purchase can contribute to good causes in town -- good job Buffalo Exchange!
I've been going to Buffalo Exchange for years and I must say it has went down hill! The prices are now too high for a used clothing store!. Used items price at regular retail price, why would someone want to buy a used item when they can go get brand new for the same price!?! Plus the employees (not all) lack customer service and alway seem in a rush! I went recently to try and sell some items, there was many people in front of me with really nice things (in season, great condition) and the girls going threw it hardly glanced at the items and were in a hurry. When it came to my items they were able to take 2 things (which I had purchased there 2 years ago)! Its just unfortunate that this place has changed. I will not be returning there to buy nor sell.
Love to shop here. They have near new and new fashions along with accessories. Reasonable prices and if you have such items that you don't need and they are in good condition you can get cash and in store credit. It's a win, win for all parties.
I found amazing authentic silver and turquoise jewelry at fantastic prices! The staff was attentive and helpful. If I lived here it would be a frequent stop.
This Buffalo is totally different than the Denver/Boulder locations I would sell to when I lived in CO. I was amazed they didn't take the American made, name brands I brought in but I saw junk on their racks from Target even a flannel from Wal-Mart. I may shop there from time to time but I'll never sell to them again. Friendly staff though.
Big selection, nice staff, but a pair of earrings I purchased fell apart the second I took them off the paper. The solder was broken and someone had just stuck them back together.
Very friendly inviorment and a happy place 😊 …
Decent selection of second-hand men's clothing. Everyone now and then I'll find a treasure. If you're going to be selling clothes, make sure that your items are in season, and in fashion or classic. Staff is friendly.
So nice quality comes for a price and this place had the best clothes and the nicest staff. Size and style inclusive.
Adore this place. It's a pricier, well curated second hand thrift store. It's also a chain, with a few locations throughout the country. You can sell clothes here, but know that they don't take a lot.
Times have changed the modern styles but I can still find my lucky13 shirts and my Tripp pants here. Prices are always good and customer service is anyways 👍 …
Very cool shop, reasonable prices, huge selection.
This can be a great place to find gently used clothing and accessories . The selection is eclectic and new items are added daily. You have to be willing to hunt and it helps if you know your labels.
Kat is awesome, and is the best manager out there. If you don't need some old clothes and you don't mind getting a little bit of cash for your clothes then this is the place for ya!
The people are great and they have a wide variety of clothing. I will definitely return to sell item's and shop. You guy's rock.
There are so many great clothes and accessories to find it's amazing! It is a little bit on the pricier side but it's totally worth it.
Pretty hit or miss if you are going to find anything good. When you do it's worth it though you just have to keep checking back or get lucky.
Nice variety. Prices can be high, but you can score some cute finds if you just spend a little time looking. Will go back
Higher end thrift store. Very good selection of just about everything. I don't do thrift stores very well but this place didn't seem thrifty to me. Lol
They have a large variety of cloths, coats etc.,at a reasonable price. It's 100% better than Broadway.
My only complaint is that their selection of men's clothes is pretty small compared to the women's. I suppose it is what it is. I get a ton of my clothes here.
If u like great deal and thrifting u will love it here
Reduce, reuse, recycle! I get just about all my clothes here. Top quality though, they are very picky.
Good selection, great people, fit checks can feel a bit rushed
Pretty good used clothing shop. Check item carefully. Can get great buys.
Great selection. A bit pricey,I think for second hand. Fun to sell you stuff instead of put it on consignment.
I love this store it has so many clothes in every size
Everyone is amazing! The clothes are awesome for the price! And I love the selections!
Extremely nice staff... explained to me how they buy items as it was my first visit and my options online...
Great selection of men's items, prices were decent although I walked out empty handed this time. Friendly staff
Clean store good selection. Little pricey
So many unique items to create an entire wardrobe from. Staff is friendly and customer service is on point
This is a used clothes store for the trendy unique fashion, so not everything is nice.
If you come often and give yourself time to look, there are definitely deals to be found. Thank you🤘🏽🤘🏽✌🏽 …
The staff is too picky about clothes they accept to buy from you. Some clothes in there I don't know if anyone would buy.
Been shopping and selling here since 1992 or was it 93??? Always buy something from me.👖🎽🧣🧥🥼 …
Found a nice Columbia ski jacket for $28
Awesome so friendly I definetlu recommend coming here they also buy so you can get a little side cash💲💲💰💰 …
Great selection from 90s retro to modern chic. Helpful staff and fair prices.
Love this place, they take most of the things that I trade in. You can always find something nice.
Fun clothes and wonderful employees. The men's section is a bit thin though.
Love this place. I never leave empty handed.
If you are trying to sell clothes, just make sure to bring plenty. Or else you don't get anything in return
There is ALWAYS a treasure to be found in this ever changing store !!
Love it to the Core.
xox
Nice store. Found what I wanted. Great pricing.
Wide selection. Average things. Xl was largest size. Slightly high on prices.
Buffalo takes the work out of thrift shopping by finding all the good stuff.
I could send some of my old clothes. But only what was almost new.
Great stuff at reasonable prices. Super cool staff.
The girls are always nice and helpful love this place !!!
interesting place that mixes thrift store and urban outfitters style
Clean, everyone wearing masks, not too many people, friendly staff.
We came here and they got some pretty cool stuff
Great prices on slightly used clean expensive clothing
Fun finds, love buying and selling here.
Pretty damn expensive for used clothes
Unique goods. Helpful customer service
Best effing thrift store in ABQ
Cute place, overrated prices for a thrift store
A good variety, decent staff.
Always a good find there!!
Always good deals on clothes
I like the quirky things available there
Eclectic selections! Bit pricy tho
Very nice people 😊 …
Always finding something great here.
Over price most things, friendly staff
I will forever love this place
Always nice coming here.
Great central place to reduce reuse
Good selection of clothes
Always love buffalo exchange
Enjoyed the variety and prices
Great place to shop!
Great atmosphere!76
Good finds on the daily
It was fine
Great shoes.
Ok
Great clothes
Fun
Terrible place to shop
Its a clothing exhange
I have not sold here, and probably won’t, but overall there seems to be decent stuff here, just very underwhelmed by the lack of size range. I am mid-size and I saw mostly entire racks of Smalls on their own, but much lacking in the Large or plus size range.
People are friendly. There are good clothing and footwear options. Prices are sometimes high.
