First trip on Amtrak. We are in the station and the station agent Greg is so kind and helpful! Such a blessing to have a kind agent! I’m looking forward to another trip just because of the warm feeling that we were greeted with.

Staff was friendly, and had great tips and knowledge. Train was clean, and snacks were... well... train food haha, but still food. (Expect a level below gas station food, and you won't be disappointed.... More expensive, and microwaved) Dear Amtrak...might I suggest you consider investing in air fryers?

Excellent ride, excellent service California Zephyr eastbound running late by five hours, dinner and breakfast were completely free due to the status of the train snow wind and heavy rain. Flooding".

Very scenic and relaxing. Get up, move around, get a snack, use the restroom, play some cards, take a nap, watch a movie, make a friend. These things happen on Amtrak. Its not a fast way to travel, but its definitely my favorite.

Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. The seats are comfortable and have lots of space for your legs. Cheaper than the plane but much slower. The cleanliness inside the train is questionable. There is a lot of trash on the floor. You probably need to bring a sheet to put over your seat. The bathrooms are okay, but again they need to be cleaned. The Salt Lake City station is very small. It looks like a booth, and you can easily miss it. I do not know why they do not build a better station.

The cost of travel is much more affordable than flying and easier than driving long distances, but you get what you pay for. The trains are dirty and not cleaned between stops. We had dirty diapers, empty bottles, and wrappers left in the seat pockets where we had to sit. This says more about the people who got off rather than the car attendants - people need to clean up after themselves. The attendants will pass through to collect garbage and vacuum. Be prepared for the homeless population near the Salt Lake City station. The California Zephyr between Salt Lake and Colorado tends to have interesting characters. Amtrak can't control who rides, but if problems arise, they do a good job of taking care of people. The conductors are helpful and the lounge car attendant was friendly and funny.

The Build Back Better Bill will give Amtrak what they need to get NEW FASTER TRAINS…uuuhh….NOT. Will take my centuries before Amtrak is up and running to catch up to the European Train Operations….. It is only 2022, perhaps by 3022 AMTRAK will offer decent food, decent meals, clean well maintained trains. It is still early folks, it is not their fault it is someone else’s fault.

Understandably, Amtrak service is not perfect, especially considering that, unlike many years ago, our “perfect” federal gov. does not see fit to spend our taxes wisely in support of postal service and train travel. That being said, over the course of quite a few years I traveled from North CA to SLC and back dozens of time on Amtrak. I always paid for a sleeper room. Due to lots of freight traffic on the rails, sometimes the train is delayed, but the trip is comfortable and restful UNLIKE traveling by car or by air. Train staff work hard, are patient with those traveling by train and do their best to make train travel pleasant. Due to COVID I do not travel at all now, but maybe someday I can travel on Amtrak again.

Wonderful family trip on the California Zephyr from Chicago to Emeryville and back. The sleeper cars sure could use a good, solid deep cleaning. The food was good and the car attendants, conductors and dining staff were all sooo awesome. Hard to take a shower on a moving train. Try to time it with a stop....if you can drag yourself away from the windows. #greatdenverpizzadash

Amtrak only offers a bare Bones infrastructure and you must do your business with them online. You will find most of the 1-800 ticket lines are disconnected. But I was surprised that their online ticketing and booking services actually work pretty well You must pay everything with a debit or credit card they are not set up to take cash and you cannot get a ticket at most of their station locations. But, I found Amtrak a better value than Greyhound buses and a much more enjoyable way to travel I would recommend Amtrak to anyone over an uncomfortable Greyhound bus. Also, Amtrak serves food which is pretty good and you can get up walk around stretch your legs now and then or if you want you can get a sleeper compartment it's up to you but at least you have a choice I will never go back to Greyhound.

California zephyr makes for an amazing scenic ride and the price isn't bad. Bring your own food and booze though. The Cafe is weak, expensive, and there's usually a line. 36 hrs is a long time in a box. Our train was an hr late departing and 3 hrs late on the return leg

I was here to pick up my daughter. There was a small waiting area. I wasn't there long enough to really check it out because the train was a couple of minutes early. My daughter said anyone could fly, but taking a train is an adventure! She said the legroom was way better than on a plane, and she saw some really awesome scenery. It was easy to meet her and get her luggage.

Platform is even with train, train station is only open at night. Trains depart night/early morning. Bathrooms have codes. Gated area with signs across from station for parking while away on your trip if parking is needed.

This week was my first experience with Amtrak. I rode from Denver to Utah and the views were spectacular. The staff was very helpful and upbeat. Ms Kathy, Billy Ray, Brandon (and the other dining car attendant) made the trip amazing. I had a great experience w my roommette going to SLC but my return trip was in coach, which I'll pass on in the future. My experience will be unforgettable P.s. I wonder if Amtrak will upgrade the interiors at some point

The people are amazing. The train is nostalgic and pleasant to ride. Sadly, there are cockroaches on the ground outside. Just a warning. Don't set your bag down.

Some really hit and miss experiences at the Amtrak station. There have been times when the helpers are quite helpful, sometimes the help has been nothing but awful. My In-Laws take the train and my father-in-law uses a cane, sometimes they get a ride from the train-car to the station, other times they have waited only to end up walking a long way with no assistance. The station is a little run down but usually clean.

I loved taking Amtrak. I took it all the way from Washington D.C. to SLC. The ride was great especially the second leg of the trip and having the viewer and dining cars. Going through the mountains in Utah and Colorado is awesome. I am deducting 1 star because of stations and facilities along the way are small and could be upgraded. The stations also need amenities. The station in Salt Lake City is really small and over crowded sometimes. It really sucks for the size of the city

The men on the early morning shift need to be commented. They helped me so much in Salt Lake! They rescued me from the Grey hound staff who would not help me. I needed assistance with my gear from a failed cycling tour. They went above and beyond the call of duty. Thank you again. Anthony Rucinski

Great trip on the California Zephyr. Big delays, but we still loved it. Tracks covered by flood waters on the way home, train re-routed, tracks washed out in front of our train on the re-route, had to finish the last 5 hours on a bus. Didn't love that so much, but the did everything they could to make it better.

Loved riding Amtrak. No stop signs, and scenery you'll never see from the road. Leg room that Greyhound certainly doesn't have,wide seats and quiet. Would I ride Amtrak again? In a heartbeat.

Rode the California Zephyr From Salt Lake City to Sacramento and I'm so glad I did. I slept in the coach car over night and it was actually very comfortable. The scenery was amazing. Staff was friendly. Can't wait to ride again.

As far as the salt lake city station goes there isn't much parking and the parking that is available is on the street right next to a homeless encampment. It's pretty sketchy around this place

Road the train from Cleveland. 1st time experience. Train engine broke down out of Boston. Which caused a 6 hour delay, which caused us to miss the train to SLC from Chicago. Amtrak put us up in a very nice hotel and gave us food vouchers for missing the train. Train ride the next day way pleasant and on time to SLC. I wanted to spend a day in Chicago anyways.

My only complaint. They do not put your train # on your reservation or e-ticket, so when you call to check on arrival time is still on time, it's virtually impossible to get any information.

I highly recommend them for train transportation! I a Greyhound customer was put here from them. Amtrak made sure I got to the San Francisco Greyhound station with no issues at All!

Do yourself a favor and travel on the train. It was cheap and highly enjoyable. We had a great time. You meet interesting people and get to see so much of the country that hardly anyone else ever gets to see.

Assigns on the track the people that work on the train or rude they had to change our tickets and they messed them up I was traveling with somebody who was dying of cancer to go see his family for the last time and they argued about us having lower level and they put a scent train they had no heat and no working bathrooms in the middle of winter in Nevada I hate traveling by train but I have to sometimes because I have no other choice but I dread it
