We called the night before for a 7:30am pickup. We had to call again at 7:30 am to ask where our cab was. It came 20 minutes later. Luckily we made it on time for our train but this should not have happened. Our driver was great and got us there on time,

Automated reservation phone system failed. Had to reserve with agent. Taxi arrived on time. Driver did not put on mask even though I asked. Driver had to call office with credit card number because device in cab wasn't working. There was miscommunication between driver and office, resulting in a $10 overcharge to my card, which driver refunded in cash.

I prefer to use taxis because I want to go with a driver who has a proper license and proper insurance. However, this driver continued to stare at his phone on the way from Alexandria to Georgetown and it definitely felt unsafe. If I'm going to ride with someone who's going to stare at their phone, I might as well take an Uber X amateur. I expect a professional driver who knows where he or she is going. I'm still hopeful for my next ride!

Driver (Bernardo) was especially helpful to both my mother (age 90+) and me (age 64). I didn’t think to request a ‘car’ and a van was sent. It was a very high step up for both of us. We both walk with canes and have trouble bending our knees high enough to step in. He helped each of us get into the van.

The driver showed up on time and got us safely to the airport at 4:45am but he definitely added charges that weren’t listed on the website. $2 extra for having a second passenger and another $2 for our 2 small carryon bags and $2 gas surcharge. Our driver was actually early! He helped with the bags, knew exactly where we were going, and got us there safely. AYC was actually CHEAPER than Uber! We were going to pre-schedule Uber but the rate was $55 +tip for a 5AM ride. AYC was $17! Two times I needed a ride through Uber it was twice as much as AYC while getting around Alexandria. When I return, it’ll be only AYC to get me from here to there.

I signed up for a cab through Arlington Red Top but wound up with an Alexandria Yellow Cab coming since they go through a Curb app bidding system. I have to admit, after reading some of the airport woes, I was skeptical I would get a driver at 5:45am. But the driver came early, was super kind and helpful with luggage. The only odd thing, and reason for deducting two stars, was that I was charged $8 more than the estimate given during the ride.—I understand estimate and reality don’t always match, but this added more than half the original cost to the total. — It appears from the receipt which shows a map that the driver may have taken a route that was the same timewise but almost 4 miles longer (via interstate) than what Google shows as most direct, so perhaps that’s the reason for the charge. I hate to blame the driver as he was prompt and courteous, but if that is in fact that reason for the additional charge, I’m not super excited about the choice. Still cheaper than an Uber and supports a local business…

Everything was nice and smooth except the driver on the phone before picking us up. He gave me a tone I needed not heard. As a professional driver from his industry I felt it was unacceptable. He was upset I was just the next building over from him when picking me up. I handled this every time unless canceled with courtesy and etiquette. A 100% positive experience. I travled from NC to Alexandria VA. I booked a cab in advance to and from the Amtrack station. Both time the cabs were already wating for us. Driver's were friendly and courteous and got us to our destination on time. Rates may have been a little high but when were were picked up from the train station it was 4:30 pm in rush hour and our driver still managed to get us to the rental car office before they closed at 5 Pm. I had two experiences with this company; one great and one not so great. First one the driver called me to confirm the time, arrived a few minutes early, got us to our destination safely, and the price was very close to the quote. Second one they were over a half hour late to pick up, we got in a cab of the same company thinking it was ours, got a phone call from the other driver that was finally there to pick up, then got mad and hung up on ME because I didn't call to cancel for him. Don't show up an hour late then!!

I use AYC on average twice a month for rides to DCA. Drivers have *always* been early or on-time. Some are talkative and some are not, which is okay in my book b/c the most important thing is getting to the airport on-time. I’ve never experienced issues with fares/drivers/vehicles. Most of the time I can get an e-receipt and others print one out for me. Most vehicles have self-serve pay tablets on the seat-backs.

I don’t understand how people have such bad experiences. I always take AYC for my early morning flights to Reagan National. I take them because I want dependability and I don’t trust Uber for 5:30 am boarding flights. I don’t expect the driver to be talkative and grinning at that time of the morning. Just good morning and thank you is all I expect and to put my bag in and out the car. I always tip 30-40% too because I appreciate anyone who is working at 4:30 am. One thing I want AYC to improve on is fixing the IOS App for scheduling rides. Do not put your credit card info. In the Riide App. They charged me for ride even though I paid the driver in cash and no one in customer service has called me back on my refund. Poor administration of this app. I will have to go to AMEX and reverse the charge.

I always call for early morning flights about 15 minutes before I need to leave. They are always early, polite, help with bags, have clean vehicles. Also, the system knows my number so I just press one button to get a taxi to my home. Licensed and regulated so you feel safe, not like Uber that pays is drivers less than minimum wage.

Don't know how it could be any better. I don't use Uber, etc and I always use ALX Yellow Cab. Reservations are super EZ, get confirmation by text, drivers always show on time and are polite and professional. Never had a problem. Cars are clean and comfortable and payment by card is EZ. So glad there are still taxis!
