Jen is by far the most amazing tattoo artist I have ever worked with. She completed this beautiful cover up piece in three hours and it was absolute perfection. I will never go to anyone else again!

Luke and Hannah were beyond amazing. I went to Newport for a bachelorette weekend and we had a full itinerary planned including a couple of hours set aside for “bride’s choice”. Well bride decided we were all getting matching anchors so we set off to find a tattoo shop that could accommodate 6 walk ins immediately. After a few phone calls with no answers we happened upon Anchor Steam Tattoo Gallery. We all figured this was a good sign since the bride had wanted an anchor. We called and we were told if you can get here now we can make this happen. We drove right over and we were greeted by the lovely Hannah. She helped us all get settled, papers signed and introduced us to our artist Luke. Luke was patient and kind and meticulous. He was a perfectionist who made sure each of us were more than happy with our location and size. He was gentle and attentive and made sure to ask how were were doing even though the tattoo was all of an inch or two big and had previous tattoo work done. While some of us were waiting for other friends, we had the pleasure of hanging out with Hannah. Hannah was personable and made us all feel at ease. At one point someone in our party started to get a migraine and I mentioned oh I wish I had peppermint oil. She instantly said she had some and took her own bottle out of her bag and let our friend use it. She turned down the lights and asked if there was anything else she could do. While we were leaving Hannah made it a point to offer her bottle of peppermint oil to us and said she had 2 others for herself and would love to share this one with us. We left there feeling like we just had an incredible memory as a group of friends , but also that we were so lucky to have this memory with the great people at Anchor Steam

Such friendly staff! I got a tattoo there 18 years ago (still looks amazing) and I brought my daughters there for one’s 18th birthday. Both girls were nervous but they were treated so well and their first tats look beautiful. Great prices. Awesome environment.

I had a great experience! Nice and clean facility, customer service, and both my tattoos came out great! I went to Will and he elevated the original designs I suggested and made them better! His work is excellent and I don't have any complaints! Definitely a go-to tattoo shop in RI.

My friend and I got our first tattoo’s here and they did an amazing job. They made us feel so comfortable, calm, and welcome! Not to mention the tattoos came out AMAZING and healed so well! I had barely any scabbing at all. Would recommend them to anybody.

Will did an incredible job of working with my design and perfecting it! It is my first tattoo and he was empathetic and coached me through it when I was curious. He offered breaks as needed but we muscled through in a little over an hour. His black/white and watercolor work is perfect. May God bless his business and family.

Pink Floyd is my absolute favorite band. I asked them if they would tattoo a design from that band on my chest. Will, one of their artists, tattooed that design you see on this page. I was so impressed, I went for another tattoo a few months later. I'm about to head there for a third visit in a couple of days. They do excellent work. If you're ever in the Newport area and is interested in getting tattooed, I highly recommend Anchor Steam Tattoo Gallery.

Went to go get my first tattoo today and I had Will. He put a quote on my quad and he did an fantastic job!!!!! He is so cool and great to work with. He would give breaks when neccassary, he is very chill, and great to talk to. Highly recommend not only this place but Will as will!

I loved this tattoo parlor! I have always wanted a tattoo and finally was brave enough to do it! Pete(our tattoo artist) was amazing! We had a group of 5 and we made an appointment, all 5 of us had our art done by Pete and he took great care of us! The entire staff was welcoming and friendly from start(first phone call), through emails of ideas and designs, till the end! The building was clean and comfortable! Highly Recommend!

I have ~just~ been corresponding with the parlor and the service is already beyond exceptional. Talk about feeling comfortable even before I put down a deposit! This will be my first tattoo but I can already tell that I am coming back for more. 9 out of 10 people I asked on the other side of the state (not Newport County) for the past 2 years have told me their gorgeous water color and intricate tattoos came from this parlor and these artists. Excited doesn't even begin the describe it! I will review again after the tattoo with pictures!!!! If I could give them a million stars, I would do that already, though!

Charlie Petty is simply amazing! Been getting tattooed since 1994, hands down most gentle and caring artist!!! Super fast, excellent freehand cover-up work, and superb black and grey shading. Shop atmosphere, cleanliness and staff, top shelf. Already scheduled my next session!!!

I cannot speak highly enough about my experience at Anchor Steam and about the owner, Jen. My husband and I recently suffered a significant loss and wanted to honor that loss with tattoos. Jen was AMAZING. She was patient in listening to what we wanted, understanding of the meaning, creative in the process, and flawless in her work. She took a very bittersweet personal moment and turned it into a memory that will forever bring peace to me whenever I look at my arm. I cant recommend this establishment enough. Everyone there was so friendly and accommodating. Jen even took the time to speak with me about possible coverups and retouching of my older and more faded tattoos. The vibe is so unique and the shop is immaculate. I will only be going to Anchor Steam for all future tattoos.

Great experience from start to finish. Melanie was super helpful getting appointment set and sorting out details and educating me before I went in for my first tattoo. Pete did an amazing job working in my detail requests and working off my example photo. The end result was better than I had imagined and Pete got it done much faster than I expected. Worked with Pete over a few months and he truly helped turn my initial idea into what I really wanted. This was my first tattoo, but Pete was professional the whole way through. I highly recommend him, he does great work. The shop is very welcoming and interested in being a part of your experience. I dig the steampunk theme as well.

Could’nt have asked for a better experience from start to finish! The staff is super friendly, inviting & undoubtably honest. Pete did my tattoo and I was totally amazed at how magnificent it came out. Even more so, I was shocked by how easy on the hand he was. I was a bit nervous to get my ribs done but this man is out of this world! I experienced wayyyy less pain that anticipated & it just goes to show what years of experience can produce. Incredibly thankful for the warm welcomes, funny jokes, and professionalism. Additionally, if you’re looking for a realism tattoo, Pete is your guy! It’s what he does best 🙃

This is an outstanding tattoo parlor. High end work. The only place I will have my work done - and I am heavily tattooed. They have been in business for 30 years. Jen the owner is a RISD grad. This is the best spot hands down. Can't say enough about their professionalism and quality.
