I finally was ready to get a new tattoo and I reached out to Dustin @ Asylum Tattoo. I told him what I wanted, the Mickey Mouse face outlined with The Incredibles logo on the inside. This was a tribute to my baby brother, who lost his battle with kidney cancer five years ago. Dustin was able to fit me in because of a cancellation. Thank you Dustin! It didn't take anytime to finish and it turned out fantastic. Please give Dustin a call for your first or next tattoo.

Everyone here is beyond talented!! Martin is AMAZING. He did a portrait of both of my dogs (who had passed away recently) on each of my thighs and they are perfect. He was so professional and made me feel so at ease. Any question I have had, he has answered quickly and informational. You can tell he prides himself on his work and is a perfectionist. He talked me through every part of the process and made sure I was okay every step of the way. It was well worth the drive from Louisville and I can’t say enough good things about this shop and the people they have there.

Super friendly, honest and helpful. I actually got to speak with one of the artists. We had to change up the design due to my arm being oddly shaped, but I absolutely love how it turned out. I get complements on it all the time. It turned out awesomely. Martin was the artist and would recommend him, without a doubt. He does book up fast so be aware of that if you go with him. I think he’s worth the wait, cause I trust his art.

Got two piercings here w Joey, and both times thorough cleaning procedures were followed, he answered all my questions, gave me a lot of helpful information about how to clean my piercings and what to expect of the piercing itself. I don't know how Asylum's prices compare with other places, but after my appointments the prices I paid were reasonable I think, and the service was so wonderful that I was more than happy to pay a tip on top of that. I will always recommend Asylum to anyone who wants a piercing, especially if you are anxious about getting pierced, because at Asylum they really give you their full attention and take it as slow as you need.

Joe, the piercer, is awesome! He did my forward helix several years ago and I went back to him for my septum piercing last week. When I called for my appointment, he was so helpful and gave me some tips for what to expect. I went alone and was nervous. The woman working the front desk (sorry I didn't catch her name!) was welcoming, funny, and we chatted while I waited. I admitted to Joe that I was nervous since I had come alone; I'm also prone to lightheadedness. He validated my anxieties and we went step by step making sure I was feeling okay throughout the process. I'm so grateful he was patient and kind to me!! It was truly a great experience even though I was so anxious at the beginning. Joe is thorough, precise and so knowledgeable! 10/10 I will always recommend him!!!

He helped me make a more informed decision about my tattoo. He went over location, size, details, and the changes the tattoo will go through as time goes on. 10/10 recommend! This is THE cleanest tattoo shop I have EVER been to. (I have been to A LOT) I just got my nose pierced by Joey. He is so professional, and has immense knowledge on piercings which he has been doing for 12 years. Before going, I called in to see if they were open and could fit me in the lady on the phone was so sweet and answered all of my questions. I’m so glad I visit Kentucky twice a year from Utah. I will definitely be back for more piercings and for a tattoo in the future!

I came here to leave a review about the amazing work that I have had done at Asylum Latonia and Cincinnati and was surprised to see a negative review about a no call / no show and a future member of the armed services. I know first hand the amount of respect that the owner and employees have for members of our military and police officers but in the end this is a business and they have policies in place . I'm sure they would have worked something out in the proper time frame. James has done all my tattoo work and I would not go anywhere else . I always recommend friends and family to both shops .I look forward to my appointment this week.

Went in here around 630 inquiring about a classic/standard ear lobe piercing. Was given price of 50 for one 70 for two. Was a little shocked that it was 70 for both, really think it should have been under 50 for both. But then I don't know the ins and outs of lobe piercings so that may be the standard, as welll as only ever having used that disgusting gun from Claire's as a kid. I've had other piercings before and just wasn't expecting that price. Anyway I got this really nice guy, Joey, who did my ears. Not once did I really feel nervous or anxious about it, just for a split second on being told to lay back. He did an excellent job and was very quick and clean about the whole thing. I would definitely recommend someone to Asylum as well as to Joey. I tipped 4 dollars... But I never even thought about tipping a piercer before so wasn't sure how much to even give! Great place, Def worth it.

Wouldn't choose anywhere else to go for a piercing or tattoo! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The shop itself is very very clean and you can tell everyone takes pride in the work they do. Joey did a piercing for my mom and she was nervous but he stayed patient and professional. I got a tattoo done by ben and it exceeded my expectations! The prices are excellent for quality work! Would highly recommend to anyone.

Friendly staff, clean environment. The piercing specialist on staff is absolutely professional and clinical at all times. He goes at whatever pace is comfortable for you, and makes sure you're fully informed on the front end how things are going to go, and on the back end for aftercare and recovery.

After 7 tattoos and 13 piercings over 6 years, I can say for sure that I recommend asylum for whatever you have in mind. All the artists are up front about what they can't or won't do and won't waste your time, and they all enjoy trying something new and will make absolutely sure you're happy with what you get. They're never pushy and always friendly, and honestly a session with any of them feels like just going to hang out with friends. They have a ton of experience and whatever style you're looking for, one of them can help. Plus a killer taste in music, there's something good playing every time I walk into the shop. Absolutely make them your first stop whenever you need some needle therapy.

I went here with my best friend. We called 4 other tattoo parlors and they were all booked. We called asylum and neither of us have heard much about them but we saw the art online and it was absolutely outstanding. Ben, worked my friend in it was a small tattoo but also needed to be perfected because it was in her moms hand writing. It was also her first tattoo I was so amazed at how patient he was with my friend considering she got her very first tattoo on her ribs! I 10/10 highly recommend this place tattoos and Ben was awesome!

I had my daith pierced here by Joey. It was my first piercing and I was pretty nervous but he and the staff were awesome. I was very impressed with how clean the whole place was and he used probably 4 pairs of gloves, changing them out between opening jewelry and preparing things as well as for the piercing itself. I'll be back for my other daith and maybe more!

Clean place. So much so that there's a faint bleach smell, even at 6pm on a Thursday. Bleach doesn't exactly smell great, but it's reassuring to know they keep they place clean. Knowledgeable staff. Wife had a piercing done here and our guy changed his gloves 4 times during the 10 minute procedure. We received oral and written after care instructions. While at the market to get some supplies, I had to call to clarify something and he walked through exactly what we needed. If I ever consider a tattoo, this will be the place.

All of my tattoos have been done at Asylum. I get stopped on the street and asked about my tattoos everywhere I go because of the quality and detail of them. I have even been featured in a few tattoo publications because of my work. Everyone is partial to their tattoo shop/tattoo artists for some reason, so I will say I am definitely biased to Asylum Tattoo, but with good reason. -Asylum only uses vegan friendly pigments from the top pigment suppliers in the world and single use, disposable needles AND tubes. -All piercing equipment is chemically sterilized, with single use disposable needles, and they carry top of the line jewelry from Industrial Strength and Anatometal. -Everyone that works there is welcoming, whether it's your first tattoo or you're working on a full body suit, and each artist (while all very competent in a variety of styles) has their own unique stylistic preference, so whatever type of art you want, the guys at Asylum have you covered. My breakdown of tattoo artist by style: -Martin: realism and portraits -Joe N.: traditional and mystic symbolism -Shad: Japanese and color work -Dustin: Neo-traditional and script -James: illustrative color and black&gray work Joey is the main piercer there, and is very knowledgeable about his trade. He is currently training an apprentice, Dani, who just did my second lobe piercings and did a fantastic job--she made sure that the alignment was perfect and was very thorough about aftercare. I highly recommend Asylum to others. Go in and just BS with everyone. This is the kind of shop where the artists will become your friend overtime and know you by name.

Yesterday I almost made the mistake of going to Mother's in Erlanger to get my nose pierced, almost. Thankfully, Mother's was so terrible that I left and came to Asylum instead. The piercer here was friendly and professional, which was really reassuring - he was even training a new piercer. In general, this was a great experience, highly recommended, and a million times better than their competition!
