I came in to Dead Rockstar a few days ago for a nose piercing. I was originally wanting to get pierced with a hoop. Alex said she didn’t pierce with hoops and explained why hoops shouldn’t be used for at least 9 months after the piercing is done, it makes total sense. From the minute I met her she made me feel comfortable. I was super nervous but she helped me feel a lot better throughout the whole process. I’ve gotten maybe 11 piercings in my life and she was the first piercer who used very certain methods and innovative tools and explains why she uses them. I’ve had piercings bleed for hours, this one barely bled. I won’t go to anyone else now and will tell everyone I know to go to her. Thanks Alex!!

I sat for five hours with Josh and immediately booked another 5 to finish it. His touch is really smooth and the line work is clean. He’s doing a rework of my tattoo to clean it up and bring it to life. There were a few times when a spot would really start to hurt just because there’s so much color in it and he would move to a different spot to give me a break which is something I’m not used to. With my last shop my arm was in so much pain that still on day 3 I couldn’t move it very well but this time around I woke up on day 1 and it feels like I have the mildest of sunburns. And to add to the awesome experience everyone inside the shop was really friendly and welcoming. If I could give more than five stars I would. Thank you Dead Rockstar, you’ve made getting tattoos enjoyable again.

This is by far the best piercing shop in town, and their tattoo artists are so talented! Staff is friendly and I trust Chuck with my life. He is one of the most knowledgeable piercers I've ever seen. The entire place is extremely clean and they only sell high quality jewelry, so I don't have to worry about my metal allergies when purchasing from them! Prices aren't bad at all either.

I was anxious but she was so professional and made me feel so comfortable during the entire process. I just want to start this off by saying the piercer, Alex, was awesome. She was extremely informative, professional and postive and made the experience generally enjoyable! However, when it came time to check out for my piercing, I was shocked by the total. I had received a nose piercing, and had jewelry changed out on the other side. I was anticipating that whatever I had done would be within the $55-65 price range, and hadn’t gone over pricing with anyone before this. The only reason I didn’t was because I knew that it would be $37 for the first piercing, and whatever the cost was for the new piece of jewelry I had bought (which I figured would be $12-$15). The total came to $121 which to me is way over priced. I do feel a little frustrated that pricing wasn’t gone over prior, as I wouldn’t have gone through with it and would’ve chosen to go somewhere else as I wasn’t really able to afford this, and couldn’t back out once the jewelry was in my nose. I have no problem paying for services and I fully understand how much things cost within the world of body modification, but I do think that this was overpriced, and I’m sure most people would agree. I think the shop is really clean, and sanitary and everything about my experience was great, I just feel a little blindsided and frustrated.

Josh is a great artist. He did a piece from my girl friend that lasted 5 hours. It was a 12 inch hip tattoo. He also did a sunflower on her wrist. It looks incredible and worth ever penny definitely suggest giving dead rockstar a call

Alex has been avery rude to me the past 3 times I've been there, but everyone else in this place is amazing and so incredibly professional and kind. Chuck is absolutely amazing. I send everyone I know here. Update: I don't think Chuck is with the company anymore and it shows. They never have their jewelry in stock, and I've been told up to 2 months for a simple stone piece of jewely, and then they're way overpriced. Alex is still incredibly rude, and when I called to set up a septum piercing, I was told they are not longer doing those because of Alex's "personal preference." Not sure who else in town refuses to do one of those most popular piercings. I'm sad to say it, but I will no longer be going here or referring people.

Dead Rockstar is one of my favorite places to go for body modifications! I reside in Jamestown, and I gladly make the long trip just to get my modifications done here! So far I have received two tattoos from here, and I am in love with both tattoos! The artist’s were very polite and kind. They would ensured that the placements of my tattoos were correct multiple of times before beginning and were willing to take a break if I needed it. They continued to be polite throughout the duration of the tattooing process and even during the after care explanation! Not only do I have two tattoos from here, but I have also received 6 piercings from here (two helix’s, two daith’s, a conch, and a flat). I had the opportunity to be pierced by both Chuck and Alex! Chuck and Alex are very professional, very polite, will double check your jewelry, the placement, and even what type of piercing before they start. They will explain everything they are doing step by step so that way you are aware of what is happening at all times. They both are also very thorough when explaining the proper aftercare and what to do in case of complications. Overall, they both have amazing personalities that makes the whole experience relaxing and fun! Lastly, I had a couple questions regarding a little soreness from a jewelry change. Since I followed Alex on her Instagram, I decided to DM her my questions. She was very polite and willing to answer all of my questions! Overall, I would be coming back for years to come!

Alex, their piercer, was very energetic and detailed for my nose piercing. She explained every part of the process in detail before hand and while she was doing the piercing, and answered all of my questions. It was also clear that she was good at making non-needle related small talk to help keep clients calm both before, during, and after the procedure. Shop was incredibly clean, has stricter COVID protocols than most places in North Dakota (a good thing!), and felt really supportive. Will definitely be coming back for future piercings and/or tattoos at this shop!

I had a GREAT experience here. It was my first time. All day I was looking for a place to get my double lobe piercings. I didn’t have much luck with the ones in the west acres mall because I refuse to have a piercing gun used on me(NOT safe, use needles). Anywaaay, I looked online and found this place. I was little nervous being that I never heard of it, but I was so glad I went through them! They practice social distancing, sanitize everything, I mean tbh, this place almost looked like a doctor’s office rather than a tattoo/piercing business. That’s how clean it was. Chuck was my piercer and did a great job at explaining the piercing process, aftercare, and making sure I was comfortable the entire time. Would definitely recommend Chuck if you are getting a piercing. Overall it was a great experience, the staff was super friendly, and the facility was clean. 10/10 would recommend to everyone!

About six months ago I had a piercing done and the lady was very friendly. She was easy to make conversation with, which made the experience much less scary.(Great experience!) I recently had a tattoo done here. The person that did my tattoo was not very friendly. When my tattoo was finished it didn't seem like the details were proportioned like I had in the drawing and some of the lines were not clean. The bandage that was put on my tattoo didn't even cover the whole tattoo.

I got both daith piercings done with Chuck last year. Chuck was very clean and professional. I am a nurse so cleanliness was a big thing for me as well as the quality of metals used for piercings. I’ve never gotten a piercing before and he was good at explaining everything and making me feel comfortable with the process. He helped me pick my jewelry, a hoop on one side and a bar on the other. The reason I’m giving 3 stars instead of 5 is that when picking the jewelry, he did not pick a bar with extra length to allow for swelling. I took care of the piercing as instructed, but even with good after care, swelling is expected from the initial trauma. Then, 2-3 days after, I was in so much pain that I couldn’t do anything. Pain killers did nothing. I went back to Dead Rockstar and Chuck wasn’t there to look at my ear, so this other woman did (she’s not a professional piercer but had several piercings). She said everything looked fine and that this was expected and told me to ride it out. I went home in tears from the pain before deciding that night to go to a different piercer to get it looked at. They told me the bar selected was too small to allow the expected swelling. They helped me pick different jewelry and change it out, which as you can imagine was extraordinarily painful at this point. After changing the jewelry and continuing to load up on ibuprofen, I felt a huge relief from the pain.

I have always had great experiences here with everyone! However on my recent tattoo touch up my artist Candy was a little on the rude side. I told her I went swimming after I got my tattoo and she was very short with me about how she’s surprised I didn’t lose a toe and she doesn’t know why people don’t take tattoos seriously. I had no idea there was a chance of getting a major infection and losing a toe because none of their after care says anything about it. It just states not to go swimming. Please elaborate on your aftercare forms or don’t be rude to me. I still love this place, I will probably never go back to candy though after the way she condescended me like a child when I was never given that information in the first place.

Amending my review a bit. Chuck D is incredibly professional and makes you feel very comfortable when he is piercing you. However, I have to dock a star because the jewelry he gave me was initially too small and pulled a little bit at the piercing. I've recently had him replace the jewelry with a larger diameter ring which should help, and he gave me the ring for free as he acknowledged that the initial jewelry was a little small. I would recommend getting pierced here, just be aware that you may want to request slightly larger jewelry than what is initially recommended to account for swelling and other tightness. Edit: Adding a star because I switched to a lower guage again and it seems to fit me a little better while I'm healing. It seems that piercing isn't really an exact science. You'll be taken care of here.
