My sister found this tattoo shop using Google. It was close to home and they accept walk-ins. We’ve been wanting to get a Bee tattoo in memory of our brother who died 3 years ago today (10/7/19). His nickname was Bee. Our tattoo artist was Candace and she was amazing. She understood immediately what we wanted and the end result is amazing. We will definitely go back when we’re ready for another tattoo.

i had an great experience here! i was tattooed by candence, who was still in her apprenticeship at the time, but you would never know it by the quality of her work! candence was extremely professional and very meticulous setting up her station. the process was great - she stopped whenever i needed a break, but overall it didn't take nearly as long as i expected. also, the shop has a very cool vibe and the other employees are really nice, too. i would love to get tattooed by candence again!

This is my first time getting tattooed. I went to Matt because he has done 4 previous works of art for my husband over the last 11 years. My husband’s tattoos are pretty intricate and detailed. They’ve aged well so I knew I didn’t want anyone else to do mine other than Matt. He’s a sure thing and a fantastic artist. I seen Jess and she was amazing. I had two ppl ahead of me and I watched as in between each person she wiped down everything. When it was my turn she made sure that I had something to eat and I informed her I ate but not before I came. I was provided with Gatorade and crackers which I thought was very nice. She was very professional the entire time. Made sure I was comfortable and since I got two areas pierced she changed gloves and set up between each piercing and made sure to open up all supplies in from of me! I highly recommend!

Candence was fantastic! I got a full color tattoo on my thigh and she did a wonderful job, she even put up with my whining and crying in pain because I’m a big baby. But she was so sweet and patient! She did an incredible job on the tattoo too. It’s been about 4 months now and it looks as bright and vibrant as the day I got it!

I have felt welcomed every time I stepped into the shop. Getting tatted by Michael is such a joy, he keeps great conversation as if you’re talking to a friend which helps since you’re sitting in a room together for hours lol, his artistic abilities are amazing, so much so I’ve let him come up with his own idea for my tattoo last session & I couldn’t have been happier with the results. I let him have free reign over the whole thing down to what had which colors. You can tell he loves what he does & it’s great to see! Highly recommend going to this shop & booking with Michael!

I did my first earlobe piercing here! The employees there are super friendly. They guided me through the steps on what to do before I get my ears pierced (filling out a form with proof of ID and picking out which earring you want to put on). My practitioner’s name was Jess. Super friendly as well! Jess gave all of the information i needed to know and was open to any questions I asked (since it was my first time). Leading up to the piercing process, she told me what she’s going to do and was very communicative about it.The whole process went by smoothly, she kept checking up on me to make sure I feel okay. After everything is done, she recommended me some after care products to keep my ears clean and have my healing process go smoothly. I definitely recommend this place to everyone! I had a great experience with Jess as my practitioner!

I went here today to get my septum pierced and I’m beyond happy with this shop!! My piercers name was Taylor and before piercing me, she explained the procedure to me and made me feel comfortable. The process was quick and easy and correctly done. She was so sweet and gave me a lollipop and gatorade and cleaned me up well and even gave me the cleaning solution for my piercing. Heard about this place from a friend. They told me about two different shops, but on a whim I decided to stop into Empire. I haven’t been to get new metal or ink in a few years. I was looking to get both sides of my nose pierced, and I’m definitely glad I picked this shop. The strip shopping center it’s in is your standard strip mall, but looks can be deceiving. The shop is immaculate inside. Way bigger than I thought it would be. Front desk right at the door with an employee who’s there to help. Check in process was super easy and quick. Taylor was my artist, and she was a dream. Super nice, cracking jokes, but still professional. She saw I had a good bit of work done, so she was able to skip over all the little details, but still made sure to be clear about aftercare and hygiene, which I liked. You’re never too cool to be reminded of how to take proper care of your metal. I was in and out within 30 minutes, which was also awesome! I typically make impulsive decisions, so I’m glad the shop was able to match my energy 🤣 long story short, 10/10 would definitely recommend. If you want some new jewelry, ask for Taylor…you’ll be glad you did.

I’ve been to this shop a number of times. They have always been super amazing. When I got my lip pierced the piercer was super kind and made sure I was comfortable. When I got my first conch piercing I explained to my piercer that I’m terrified of needles. He made jokes to calm me down and it all happened with ease, he also gave me something to drink. When my ear swelled up they fixed me up no problem and made sure I had minimal problems going forward. The last time I got a piercing from there it went perfectly. The woman laughed and joked with me, listened to me while I again explained I have a fear of needles, and she let me just relax for a moment while I calmed down. Every time I’ve been here I’ve been treated with so much respect and kindness. I cannot wait to go back for my next piercing!

Right from the door I liked how clean the whole facility was. Staff treated me as if they’ve known me for years. My artist Doug Sparks sat down with me to go over my options. One word of advise trust this man he is amazing. He exceeded my expectations is an understatement. Once my tattoo is fully healed I will post pictures. My wife was against it at first now that she saw his work first hand as well as the facility, I will be scheduling another appointment with Doug for her to get her first tattoo. Great job Empire

Me and 3 friends did a walk in visit, all of us wanting different piercings ( ears, eyebrows, and a lip one ) and had Taylor as our piecer and she was AMAZING. Very friendly && well informed on all of the piercings she did for us. At one point, when it was my turn and after she did the first ear, I started feeling dizzy ( probably from the heat outside and I was a little dehydrated ) and when I told her she got me a cup of gatorade and put a cold towel on my neck and gave me some saltine crackers and felt a lot better after that. I felt like she genuinely cared and I do plan on going back. I had a great experience and will easily recommend Taylor to anyone getting a piercing!! :D

I was referred to him from my husband & brother in-law who would never use another artist. He started my first full day session today & it’s is better than I could of ever imagined! Went to go get my angel bites done. The one on the left was so low on my lip that the disc kept snagging on the bottom of my tooth and nearly ripped out several times that I had to take it out pretty much within an hour of getting it because it caused me so much pain and I was bleeding all over the place. The second one wasn't as bad, still some scraping on my teeth but I waited a few days to see if it was just due to the swelling... Well, I followed the piercer's aftercare to the letter and now I have a phenomenally large abscess in my lip and it's bleeding everywhere so I have to deal with that now too. Points for the piercer being super sweet and informative but I basically paid 120 bucks for a disaster.

The tattoo artist who I had a consultation with, Drew, was very nice but also very knowledgable. Given I have no spatial reasoning skills at all, he walked me through how big my design would have to be to realistically get the effect I wanted. He also told me how the sun can affect tattoos in that if it is on your back, I wanted mine on my right shoulder blade, it will fade quickly because of the sunlight every summer. We discussed the realistic expectations for a budget plan, his rate per hour, everything was straightforward, transparent and honest.

I got my 4th tattoo done here almost 2 months ago, all of them done here by the same guy, reasonably priced. My last one was by a different guy that I'm used to. First, my new tattoo is bigger than my others but it was ridiculously expensive for taking only 45 minutes. I also had an appointment, sent in my tattoo, was drawn out when i got there, & we didn't start or even go into the room 30-40 minutes after my appointment time, I was just waiting in the front room. The artist I thought was very room, during the process I was very still & I tried to ask a few questions & he would refuse to answer me. At first I thought he couldn't hear me so I would ask again and he would respond with a rude comment such as "I'm not going to finish if you keep asking me questions". Last, I have about a half inch mark next to the tattoo that i noticed a week after because i thought it was the original ink they used to trace it. Either way, I was hurt because I've gone here a few times and didn't feel very welcome. And I'm annoyed about this random mark. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk

I followed Matt Doherty to Empire Tattoo when he moved to the Blackwood/Clementon location. Matt has been my go-to tattoo guy for years now and all but two of my tats are his. He is a remarkable, free-hand artist. I go in with a simple idea (a koi fish) and the man creates works of art that get me compliments everywhere I go (an entire lower leg sleeve). The shop itself is always exceptionally clean. The staff are fun, friendly people who answer any and all of your questions with a smile and make you feel welcome and comfortable. Their pricing is like many other shops (around $100 an hour or so with a minimum of $60) and they require a $100 deposit at the time of your appointment. Matt Doherty and Empire Tattoo definitely have me as a repeat customer and Matt knows I'll always be back for more ink!
