Got my first tattoo here! Riley is awesome and does great work! Especially if you like cartoon or Pokémon style art. Was super patient through the 3 hour session and was totally cool with me taking multiple snack breaks and everything too. Highly recommend!

Planning to be a loyal customer! All the staff us wonderful, friendly and accommodating. Eddy one of the co owner is always happy to talk to whoever walks them the door. Last time I was there he was my artist and this young man came in to just hangout and talk to Eddy. He completed the tattoo without flaw while including both me and his friend in the conversation and it was honestly the best tattooing experience I've had so far. Not to mention the shop is very open, clean, and has a beautiful wall of avaliable flash. Honestly I'd spend hours there looking at the art if I could!

I usually shop in the area and saw this little tattoo shop. The inside was clean and I how the shop was decorated. Very cool and cute. Me and my cousin was looking to get a good size tattoo for a family member fighting cancer and one of the owner was very nice to take us in last minute. We want a simple black and white ribbon with the family member’s last name, which turn out amazing and we love it. Thank you so much rocket tattoo for making our day special.

Nenad is awesome! I’ve been tattooed by him twice, and he’s a great collaborator. Both times, he took a flash design and brainstormed with me to customize it. Great eye for color, gentle hand, and really chill to talk to. Butterfly tattoo is almost 2 years old and still looks fresh. Can’t wait for another session!

I am late in posting this but I have wanting to do this for a while. I moved to Chicago a little over a year ago and I was looking for an artist. I found nice guy eddy and I was extremely happy. I called the studio and he was pleasant to speak with and scheduled the appointment with ease. Meeting him was an even better experience. He was professional and attentive. Eddy was great. He was easy to talk to and he's got a lot of experience. He thanked me for waiting patiently (I was a walk-in, but I didn't even wait very long) since there was one person ahead of me. My wife has over 20 tattoos and she says he did a good job and his price was definitely reasonable. Now she wants to check this place out! We might even come in for matching tattoos on our 3 year anniversary. Also, the guy at the counter (didn't catch his name) was polite and welcoming when I came in. Thank you!

Came in to get 2 tattoos with Bryan. Talked it over a lot, he was very patient and willing to help me come up with a design. Ultimately, made the decision to just get 1 tattoo, a clock face (photo attached). Great experience, clean shop, and great for novice or first-time tattoo-getters like myself. Edit: came back a week later to get a second tattoo, this time with Jessica. She got it done really quickly after helping me pick a size, and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. She did the chemistry tattoo (pictures attached). Awesome shop, 10/10 would come again.

LOVED my experience at Rocket Tattoo. I was a walk-in who decided to get a flash on a whim without a clue what I was even going for. Alex Muniz was super attentive and helpful in picking out a design that excited me. During the actual tattooing, Alex was very communicative about what he was doing, had a nice light touch with the needle, and was just overall an absolute delight. I felt very at ease in the shop as well- everyone who works there was friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about their work. I will 100% be returning for my next tattoo!

Really loved my experience getting my first tattoo here. Eddy/Eddie (I never asked how to spell it) was so informational and kind as I wanted to get my first tattoo. I wanted a tiny tattoo in a fairly challenging place and he was so honest and upfront about the entire process (pain of the tattoo, possibly care needs, and helpful healing tips). I was nervous when I got there, but eased my energy as he offered kind words, casual conversation, and a very safe feeling/clean environment. I'm also queer, married, and have a son and he chatted away with me about my life with ease. I did not feel unwelcomed or uncomfortable at all. Truly 12/10 for my first tattoo experience. Will definitely go back to them when I want my next (more bold) tattoo of choice!

This place was absolutely amazing! I emailed Rocket Tattoo today and they got back to me in a short amount of time to let me know someone would reach out. They had an opening for today and I went in to get my tattoo done. This was my first tattoo, and Jess was very calm and kind to me and my awkwardness/fear. She gave me several size options, as well as adjustments based on my feedback, as well as her expertise. She explained the process and made this experience great. If you want to go here, I am sure everyone was amazing, but I definitely would recommend both Jess and Rocket Tattoo. Excellent service, fair prices, and superior customer service!

Great neighborhood spot! Went to Nice Guy Eddy for my piece. Such a great guy! Made me feel super comfortable. The space was so cool, nice retro vibes. Their online system for booking reservations was very easy and Nice Guy Eddy got back to me very quickly. We were able to fit me in later that evening. He was very efficient but took his time to make sure everything was the right size and in the right position. Overall great experience! Ill definitely be going back for more.

Everything that everyone has said about the atmosphere is true: courteous, professional, clean, fun, safe. I always feel well taken care of at every session, the staff is welcoming and kind, and the shop is just a great addition to the community. As an artist, Eddy is versatile and flexible. He has executed every design idea I've given him with clean, meticulous lines and expert color. He works at super affordable rates and is very conscientious of my budget. As a guy, well, he's nice! I have enjoyed getting to know him and everyone else at Rocket, and I am proud of the art I get to keep forever.

Bryan did an awesome job doing my tattoo of my dog’s head and face. Looks just like my sweet Lucky. Just got it about an hour and a half ago and have to say the process hurt far less than expected and so far the after effects are very minor, which is awesome. I definitely recommend Rocket Tattoo and will tell my friends to come see you guys, and obviously recommend Bryan. YOU ROCK!!!

I was nervous to try a new shop as I've gone to the same one for all 3 of my tattoos and all of my piercings; rocket tattoo is hands down the best one I've been to. everybody there is kind and I had scheduling issues and they were extremely flexible and accommodating. they're easy to talk to about what you want, they'll give you tips about how your ideas can look better, and they communicate clearly through the entire process. I felt comfortable the entire time and I am incredibly pleased with the results!! if you're looking for a tattoo shop look no further. this is the one. Great experience! This was my second tattoo and the first visit to Rocket Tattoo. I came in with an idea for a large, complex tattoo and Nice Guy Eddy totally crushed it. He took the family crest that I gave him and put a wicked twist on it that, while still totally faithful to the original, made the tattoo really badass. The level of detail that he put into the art is fantastic. The shop has a great vibe as well. I was there for a long session (looking at the plan, I was certain it would need multiple visits but Eddy did it all in one) and got a chance to see Nestor and the other artists working. All of them had excellent stuff and treated their clients great. I usually do not bother with social media or online reviews, but in this case, there is no way that I could not give Eddy and his shop full credit. I am recommending them to friends and plan on going back for more.

The crew at Rocket Tattoo is so kind and professional. My mom, sister, and I came in for three small , but special pieces, and we only had a small time range in which we could all do it together. They kindly made a reservation for us on a Friday evening when they would normally only take walk ins. They were super easy to communicate with. They worked it out so that three artists worked on us, and we could all go more or less simultaneously. It was my mom’s first time getting a tattoo and she was nervous, and got a little woozy. Eddy and the crew put her at ease, went at her pace, and coached her through it. They were so nice and helped her decide where she wanted her tattoo and what color would be best for her. When she needed to lie down they gave her candy, water, and cold compresses. We all love our tattoos!

Great overall experience. My sister had been looking to get her first tattoo, and I went along with and got one in a similar style. Eddy was able to fit us into his schedule, and made the whole process easy and comfortable. I’ve been to a number of tattoo shops across the US, and this was my fourteenth tattoo. From personal experience I can say the quality of work is top-notch and pricing competitive (although price should not be the determinant factor when deciding on a shop!) LGBTQ+ friendly and a safe space for all bodies. Definitely going back for more work!

Had a great experience here last weekend! Bryan was great and I love my tattoo, it's even more awesome than I'd imagined, and he was great about making sure it was exactly what I had in mind. It was my first tattoo, and I had a super comfortable experience and everything was Covid safe.Was able to set up an appointment online within a week. Everyone in the shop was super nice and chill and the vibes are great. It's been a week and my tattoo is healing really well. I got my first tattoos done by Marc. I tried out the first tattoo and ended up getting two on the same day 😆. The whole process, from the scheduling to getting them done, was straightforward. As for Marc, I can’t say enough! He was supper gentle, kind, trustworthy, and patient. Everyone else in the shop were friendly and professional. The place was spotless. This place is amazing. I visited recently for the first time and had an all around fantastic experience. I've bounced around at plenty of spots around the city and have finally found my forever shop! I've been going here for over a year to get a sleeve worked on (which we finished last week) and I went in for a consult with the same artist, Marc. The consult itself went great! To put it lightly, there was an issue with a patron who was going on one of those "I'm going to misgender you and claim to respect you in the same breath" kinda rants. Marc and the other artists let me stand up for myself and helped defuse the situation by getting the other patron out. It was amazing. Not only is every single artist there ridiculously talented, they're also extremely trans and lgbtq+ friendly. If you're on the fence about scheduling a session here, do it. They're great people to work with.

Stopped in to the shop once I realized how close it was to my home and ended up getting my first tattoo here. Bryan (I believe) was super nice and laid back, but also extremely professional with the process. Even though my tattoo wasn’t a big one he put a lot of effort into it being exactly what I wanted, which considering the sentimental value behind it meant the world to me. He and Eddy managed to create a great vibe in the shop while I was there and I couldn’t have been more comfortable. Tattoo is all healed up now and it looks fantastic. Came in this week to get a sternum tattoo. Bryan and Nice Guy Eddy are awesome! As a woman, I was a little worried about having my shirt off, but they made me feel so comfortable. They brought out a makeshift wall to make sure I had privacy. They talked to other customers, making sure I felt safe and okay. The tattoo hurt like hell but Bryan was awesome about keeping conversation to distract from the pain. Totally worth it all. They're very personable, professional, and all around good dudes. Bryan von Holst is the most professional, talented, and versatile artist I've ever met. I did an extensive amount of research on tattoo shops all over Chicago and finally found Rocket Tattoo to start my sleeve, and honestly could not be happier with the result. I have never had a tattoo artist be so dedicated and thorough as Bryan is; he took the time to create the design for my sleeve and re-drew it so many times until it was completely perfect and every single session makes sure to go above and beyond with every aspect of his work. Once upon a time, two best friends were together for a long weekend after many long-distance FaceTimes between Chicago and D.C. Their "charm bracelet" tattoo was missing two charms. It was necessary. But where to go on a feels-like-7-degree day in Chicago without an appointment, without a design, and during quarantine. All seemed hopeless. However, Lady Fortune was on our side when Eddy answered the phone and said we could make a same-day appointment. Instead of sending messages via pigeons, he uses text messages to communicate in an easy, professional, and non-creepy way. He perfected the design. He was amiable and entertaining, without being one of those "hairstylist who talks the whole time and I don't care about your niece's best friend's cousin" kind of talkers. ANYWAY 10/10 would recommend. It's clean, professional, simple to make an appt and follow-up, and Eddy's son has hand drawn some art for you to look at while he stabs you with an ink-filled needle at your request. Also, a man was getting a stained-glass wing tattoo next to us and the artist over there was also tight as hell. Even though we're in the Midwest, we love to see a friendly stranger. Also the wing tat was looking AMAZE. I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong at this shop. I already have an appointment to go back for my next tattoo...plus three more.

Up until a few months ago I was a novice to the world of tattoos. I probably still am a bit. I stumbled on Rocket when revisiting my old neighborhood this past summer. Walked in and spoke with Bryan and he was able to fit me in for a memorial for my dad. I gave him a general idea of what I wanted and his design came out way better than anything I would have expected. The line work, in my opinion, couldn't have been more precise. I live in Texas, so the next time I was up I had him do a second one. This time, a memorial for my mom. Again, his final design was twice as good as what I showed him I wanted. It included a lot of dot work which came out incredibly well. I'm headed back for a third soon. My friends in Texas have referred me to a couple of artists they know but I honestly can't imagine having anyone else do the work. With his knowledge and skillset you can trust the work will be top notch. I'll fly up for any work I decide to do in the future. Thanks Bryan!

Honestly, I went somewhere else and the guy there said what I wanted to do wouldn’t work. “Ok, I’ll rethink my tattoo.” Then I went outside, looked for another shop that was open and had THE BEST EXPERIENCE!!!
