I was super happy with my experience at Burn the Boats and with Ryan Cushinery my artist. The shop is super clean, each of the artists I witnessed used great practices to clean their stations. Other artists were also super friendly and created a great environment. Ryan was great from the start, super collaborative, professional and responsive. He listened to my ideas for the tattoo and made an amazing piece of art. He was great to work with and I love the end result. I’ll be coming back to Ryan again for future tattoos for sure!

I had a wonderful experience from the very first contact with my artist, Ryan. I wanted a tattoo inspired by Billy Madison and he was happy to help make it happen and suggested we watch the movie during my session. It was great! The shop is clean, the team was friendly and helpful, and the tattoo is AMAZING! I will definitely continue to go to Burn the Boats Tattoo and would highly recommend them to anyone in the Boise area! The whole experience was the best I’ve ever had getting tattooed. Burn The Boats Tattoo is my favorite place to get tattoos! I just got my second tattoo yesterday and had a great experience. Queenie did a great job and made sure everything was going to look good when others see it and made sure I loved it before we started. I always enjoy going into the shop and always have a wonderful experience. Everyone is super nice and friendly and they all do a wonderful job. I will forever be going back to get my tattoo here!

Got the most amazing tattoo from Queenie. It was definitely painful however Queenie was fantastic. I know I wiggled a bit but she said nothing. This tattoo means so much to me and there couldn’t have been a better artist. The line work, the shading, all of it is even better than I had imagined. I enjoyed the other artists as well. I was there for 8 hours so I saw a few clients in and out and all of the artists are very talented and are nice company. Thanks so much Burn The Boats and Queenie!

Ryan was awesome! He responded to my request within a couple of days and had me on the books for the following week. He helped me come up with a design that worked with ideas and worked efficiently and professionally. Made sure to ask me numerous times about placement, comfort, and my genuine happiness with the design. He was able to do my husband's tattoo a few weeks later and he had the same positive experience I did. Would and will highly recommend him to others :).

This is one of my top 3 shops I’ve been in (out of New York City & San Diego)! The Vibe is one I’ve never experienced in a shop before! The way it’s decorated so much Rad 80s 90s memorabilia! Absolutely loved this place. I had a really meaningful tattoo done a few years ago by someone else and it didn’t turn out the way I would have liked. Mike Beard was really able to bring my tattoo back to life and make it that more meaningful for me. Aside from the amazing artistry the place itself is unlike any other tattoo place I have been to. The overall vibe made me feel comfortable being there for the first time, and all the other artists were so friendly. Dude I love this place!!! Right when you walk in the shop is like pow, so coo and so many neat things I love which made me feel comfortable right away!!! I talked to Nick and got an appointment set up for me and my wife and we jelled right away. I ended up getting tattooed by Devyn and got Scarecrow from Batman I'm so happy it turned out awesome!!! I stopped by on the off chance they would have a walk in time, they didn’t but I was offered an appointment the next day to make up for it. All the artists I talked to were fun and confident, the wall art was never boring and they played a movie as a distraction for their customers - perfect environment for a tattoo shop. The artist then reaches out and you will have a consultation for your tattoo. You'll make a deposit to hold your appointment and finally, get your tattoo. The shop even provides aftercare packages and instructions for your tattoo. My artist Ryan gave me feedback on my design and leveraged his years of experience to give me a tattoo that exceeded my wildest expectations. He was patient, professional, and extremely informative. His linework is steady, and his color is punched in and vibrant. I honestly could not be happier with the work. Ryan is a phenomenal artist and I will be recommending both him and Burn the Boats to all my friends and family.

I've been to three artist here @ Burn the Boats! All great artist :) My go to is Ryan! He does great work and is comfortable to be around. I've been to artist at other tattoo shops that had personalities that were just hard and made the experience uncomfortable. I can honestly say by experience the artist at burn the boats are super chill and you're guaranteed to be comfortable while you receive great art. My last ink was super simple but I would not go anywhere else don't be afraid to try burn the boats.

My tattoo experience at Burn The Boat Tattoo was the best I have ever had. I have several large tats over the year but sitting in their shop and getting this piece done was an awesome experience. I sat in that chair for 5 hours. We had the best conversation while looking at the decor and talking about everything under the sun. The tools and equipment are impeccable clean. These guys followed a very disciplined hygiene protocol and the entire place was clean. The art work was 100% solid and Mike insisted on the best after care products I’ve ever used. My Tat healed in 5 days with no scabbing and very little peeling, 10 days post tat I’m completely healed with no touch up needed. I will be back!

Ive always been interested in tattoos but never pulled the trigger. Mainly because I could never make up my mind on something I wanted to have forever. After a life changing vacation to Hawaii I wanted to commemorate it with a great tattoo. At first I was thinking I would get one while I was on the Island, but being the meticulous person I am,I wanted it to be perfect and exactly what I had envisioned. Not having any knowledge of any artist's work I decided to wait until I got home to take some time to pick the perfect artist for my first tattoo. A few of my coworkers had some really fantastic ink that was done by Queenie Li. I had seen her work on other mutual friends and could not believe what amazing work she was doing. I contacted her to interpret my ideas into ink. To make a long story short I could not have made a better choice, after all, these are permanent and will be with me for life! Not only is she a great artist, she is a very good listener and does an exceptional job of creating your vision into a beautiful piece of art, that you will be proud to share with the world around you. Im astonished at her progression! Her line work and lettering is some of the best in the valley. Every piece she has done for me, now four & counting, is crisp and clean! Whether it is your first tattoo or just adding to your collection, you will be completely happy and proud of the work she will do for you. Mike did a flower piece on my shoulder/arm and it’s amazing! I came in with a few photos I liked but wasn’t really sure where to go with it and he came up with a beautiful design. I get compliments all the time on it. I will definitely be returning to Mike for more tattoos. By far my favorite shop. I’ve been to other shops before and been really intimidated and uncomfortable around the men there and had to bring friends so I’m not shy, but the vibe was very respectable and friendly here. Got a coverup of a small tattoo on my hand by Queenie. She did absolutely amazing, better than I could’ve ever hoped for! She freehanded a flower piece to cover the planet I had on my hand and you can’t even see it! It blends so seamlessly into the design. She was very professional and easy to talk to. She never made me feel intimidated and I felt 100% confident that she was going to do an amazing job. The aftercare is precise and easy to follow with their awesome aftercare kit! I booked an appointment with Mike Beard after almost a year of looking for the right person. I chose Mike Beard because of the quality of his tattoos that I saw online. The pics also showed little or no skin trauma and that had never been my experience in the past. My tattoo from Mike looked almost already healed when he was done. He was thoughtful about what he drew, how it would look later and what the vision for my arm is. Obviously he's a professional and knows what he is doing. As he tattooed the conversation was good but we were also comfortable in silence. The movies projected on the big screen helped pass the time and filled any silence. I had very little pain and found that Mike tattoos with finesse. But here's what I really appreciate about Mike and Burn the Boats...... I'm comfortable with them....I was almost instantly comfortable actually. I'm 50 years old and have 8 other tattoos. I'm not looking for a cheap tattoo experience this time around. I want quality, trust, consideration and care. I want humor and chatter and an awesome end result and I'm willing to pay and wait for it. I love that the person tattooing me grew up around the time I did, that made us relate to each other and I think made my time in the chair a good experience. It was cool to see all the 80s and 90s goodies. And finally.... the icing on the cake: My 17 year old daughter was with me. She's an artist and Mike took an interest in that and shared some procreate brushes with her. She was real stoked about that and I thought that was very kind of him. He doesn't know yet, but she wants to get on his books now. 😏 Thank you Mike for the ink! My next appointment is already booked and I'm looking forward to it. On the day of my appointment, I arrived a little early and Mike was ready to create a Medusa piece WITH ME! We went through various pictures together and selected a bunch we wanted to use. What I didn’t know is that he was going to combine all these pictures using software. The process of creating her was fascinating. I watched her come to life before my eyes. The tattoo experience itself, was amazing!! The shops energy is easy going and non judgmental. I watched movies and had great conversations. When the tattoo was done, I was absolutely blown away. His talent is remarkable and no matter how much I pictured the outcome it surpassed it by far. He used saniderm to preserve the tattoo during the healing process and provided me with an aftercare kit. I look forward to finishing the Medusa tattoo next session!! I highly recommend this shop. All the artists are amazing and the professionalism is unmatched!

Had some initial issues with the tattoo after healing. EDIT: I texted Mike like he responded in my review and he was very nice. He asked me to come in person to talk about options and I did. He went over everything we could do to fix it. I decided on an option and then he did it. He told me its possible it wont completely cover it and that if that happens I could come back in again. Him and the tattoo artist that did the tattoo looked at the pictures after my tattoo was done and said they didn't realize and it was hard to notice until after it healed. Mike has very good customer service skills and PR skills. I have autism so this whole experience was awful and awkward for me and stressed me out so much but he was very good at helping. Thanks Mike.
